2 Sister Wives "Sister Wives On the Ropes" s04e09 Spoilers, Gossip

Tweets during show from Funky Town, who worked overtime tonight!

Sean, really? REALLY? That is untrue and you retweet it?
Kody validates the Williamses with Excited!

Madison, it's great that you two can behave better than the adults. You two are good girls.

Ignorance is a state of being uninformed. Sounds like Brittany is uninformed. Facts are facts.

 Meri, teach Christine this.

Glad all those years Welfare stepped in and helped you didn't have to pay back, whew....

NO ONE called him a pig. It's sad to make drama where there is none.

Really? Or Good Drama?

This from another polygamist family:
But, teaching your children that this is the only way to heaven.....is....

O_M_G

wow

Good for Janelle for saying this!
She loves strangers but can't face her aunt?
Not mine!

Kody needs to give monogamous men lessons?

Why do folks jump in when they don't even read the tweets?

Oh, it was just for ratings, you should be scared of them....

This one made me LMAO:
No stolen thunder!

 The pluggin begins....

GOOD QUESTION...WAIT...TLC arrange the discussion? WOW!!!!!!
Probably arranged the guests....and Christine's script was written.

Kollene is on Twitter, YEAH!!!

YOU tell 'em!

Note to self: Kollen is not teaching the kids to drive hahahha

  1. Did anyone catch in the previews how welfare was mentioned but never in the actual episode?

I'm done. I can't watch the Brady Bunch, seeing another family try to put a positive spin on something so demeaning to women and children.

I want TLC to put on a show of the survivors, telling their HONEST stories of life behind the walls.

    1. I agree...yet I know I am cheating, because I am DVRing the show in case I change my mind.

    2. me, too. Hope that is the same for the ratings, because one of these families at a time is enough.

    3. Yep, no answer on the welfare question. Maybe it will show up online as a deleted scene??

    4. Lots of things cam up but nothing was finished. If you want to come out and tell your story then tell your whole story. Don't leave the important issues just hanging.

      Delete
  2. We will have the honest story of the panelists soon!!

  3. Does anyone know who Krisyn Deckers husband was? I tried looking it up online after I read her book but I couldn't find anything.

    1. My goodness, what a tangled web of family relations these fundamentalist Mormon polygamists weave...

  4. I wish that Aspyn and Logan would tell their side of the story. They are young, but they are now legal adults. How did Logan feel about having his school invaded? How did Aspyn feel about her mother and her aunt. I hope in a few years one of them will open up and tell the story from their point of view.

    1. At the end of the debate, they showed Logan greeting his aunt in a very friendly way. That is probably when the debate attendee heard him apologize for Robyn's behavior.

      Delete
    2. I doubt that Logan has ever had much experience with Kristyn Decker as an aunt. She is Christine's aunt. She has been out of polygamy for quite a while. I think she knew Christine as a little girl. Therefore, it was very, very adult of Logan to go and greet her. He may well have had to introduce himself. He is a mature young man. I hope he makes choices that will increase his chances for happiness in the future.

      Delete
    3. Christine's aunt said she met Kody once about 8 years ago she thought. So I doubt Logan has even met her. I was impressed he went up and spoke with her. Logan rocks.

    4. Watching the show right now...I have to say, Logan is a credit to his mother :)no matter what my opinion is about there "lifestyle /religion" Janelle seems to have raised bright, happy kids. No small feat in this day and age....not sure I'm going to b able to make it through Robin getting all 'big & bad ass'

I mean come on! How DARE anyone try to make her out to b a victim? Isn't that ROBIN'S job? Oh.never mind. Her job is to make iconic pieces of joory... lol!!

  5. I'm in the minority here, but I was actually touched by seeing Meri and Robyn "rescue" Christine. I think she was genuinely heartsick at the thought of confrontation, and that was what made her hide in the bathroom. Having experienced panic attacks myself, I empathize. Meri and Robyn showed what I felt was actual compassion for her with their actions. I feel like I saw a different side to them tonight.

    1. I also noticed that. It may well be a case of "I can say anything about you that I want to, but don't let an outsider say it."

      Delete
    2. I also know about and deal with panic and anxiety. The bathroom sequence just felt orchestrated to me.

      Delete
    3. Yep she was all alone and afraid in the bathroom except with the big giant cameraman there. Whom she was talking to. Scripted ya think?

      Delete
    4. "Scripted ya think? "

      But of course!!!
Have always loved the "private" moments....with the cameras rolling and the players all mic'ed.

    5. A great, scripted TV moment. If you cannot deal with being in the public eye, don't go there.

    6. Manufactured drama. Blech!!

      Delete
    7. It was all very Jr High, overly dramatic and silly...I have a feeling that Christine is a drama queen, she was told weird things to be afraid of growing up, now she manufactures things to flip out about...the "flee" from Utah, all drama and no real danger or threat, their persecution, really? You put yourself on a reality show what did you expect...she seems to flip out and be a lot of drama!

      Delete
    8. And then conveniantly her Sister Wives can act all supportive and dramatic too and have her back...so dumb and high school and to think that this is how their entire life is all the time, what a joke!

      Delete
    9. not scripted.. I felt super annoyed about that stupid scene.. I really needed to pee and she would not get out of the bathroom.. I mean come on grow up and stop being afraid of little ole krystyn decker... what is she going to do? I had to use the mens room.. thanks christine ya selfish afraid of nothing little jr high girl.

    10. Kollene you are Kool!

    11. KOLLENE, so many are going to be mad that you were here and missed you!!
      It's like 2 30 eastern time
We've been talking about you and what a great role model you are....I sure hope we see you more, I can't wait to see if you write up what really happened too!!!!!!

Christine made that all up for the show, I am afraid. But that's what my husband said, IS she in high school?????? COME on!!! I am afraid they drug all you guys out there just for drama and mean spirited too.
I'm sorry, I wanted to slap the shit out of Robyn for yelling at you. Come on, is SHE real? She seems pretty dang, well dumb. Lst time I checked, she didn't own the copyright to SISTER WIVES.

YOU are one brave girl. PLEASE come back and tell us more soon!!!!

Way to be a jerk Robyn.

    12. Im here im here!! kinda... let me fix my last comment.. when I say afraid of nothing I mean.. your making drama where it does not exist.
ill come back.. I was on the phone with my beloved panelists christine marie katas and krystyn decker. and now... im going to bed.

    13. Kollene, you ROCK, girl! :-) :-) :-)

Besides your appearances on Sister Wives, I really enjoyed your interview on Doris Hanson's show, "Polygamy: What Love is this?" I love how honest, open, brave, and snarky you are! Stay true to yourself. You are awesome!

Please consider being a regular poster on this Sister Wives Blog! We'd love to hear what you have to say.

      Delete
    14. Kollene, You knew Christine didn't want to come out of the bathroom because you and Kristyn were standing right there snickering at her. If you really needed to pee why didn't you just walk away for a few minuets, so that Christine was comfortable in leaving? I felt that it was you and Kristyn being Junior high mean girls. Yeah sorry but standing right there knowing full well you were making her uncomfortable was un called for.

      Delete
    15. oh i think it was scripted all right - by CHRISTINE herself!! She LOVES getting to play a lead role in her dramatic LALA-LAND she creates for herself. Remember, too, how she prides herself on being the FUN and FUNNY one in the family and yet - her humor has never even gotten a smile out of me let alone a laugh like she gets from her sister wives. I have a great sense of humor but Christine's own brand is just well ... undeveloped and awkward really.

Anyway, she got her dramatic moment in the sun this episode and i'm sure is really proud of the moment and will be laughing it up and entertaining her sister wives with it the rest of her life. *yawn*

  6. I wish we would have seen the part where Kody "melted down."

I didn't like the way Robyn called Christine Marie "sweetie" when she was saying "Don't make me a victim." That "sweetie" was not sweet at all. She was using the term in a mean spirited way that was meant to convey..."You need to keep sweet and quit crossing She Rah!"

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It was very disrespectful. We were not shown any evidence that Robyn previously knew Christine Marie. I would never call a complete stranger that in a debate. She marginalized her on purpose.

      Delete
    2. She did marginalize her with malice a five thought. Miss Robyn is not a nice woman. She has shown that more than once on this show.

      Delete
    3. I agree that was rude of her.

      Delete
    4. I tweeted Robyn back when she told us about her big mistake. I was very nice in my tweet but asked her to be careful and not to talk badly about their dad. She answered me just like that, Sweetie, is how she addressed me. It wasn't nice at all! I did get a chuckle out of it and again tonight. It must be her classic "dig"

      Delete
    5. Robyn shows that she is truly one of the Mean Girls.

      Delete
    6. Agree that Robyn's use of 'sweetie' was not meant as a term of endearment. Interesting Anon 10:02! Yikes, now we now, when Robyn is mad - out comes the 'sweetie' word!

      Delete
    7. We have to remember how unlearned Robyn is, when she gets into a situation like that, her UNintelligence oozes out like lava, and she turns ugly to cover up the stupitity. But, I will say the woman with the fake pony tail hair (OMG btw) really didn't need to be there. I think she was there only to stir the pot.

      Delete
    8. It was hugely disrespectful for her to call her "sweetie".

Robyn truly let her real personality shine through in this episode.

I found Christine's aunt refreshing, calm and intelligent. I feel very sad for her that she did not escape until age 50. Hopefully she is making up for lost time and leading a happy life today.

So much defensiveness on the part of the Browns on the show and in twitter posts. If their life is so good why did they even participate in the debate? They have had years now to tell their side of the polygamy debate on THEIR OWN show. If Kody felt so "confident" why so prickly? Why Robyn's outburst?

      Delete
    9. That must be She Rah, She Rah calls everyone Sweetie before she pounces, she wears an I love KB bra and undies too...

      Delete
    10. Haha Anonymous I was thinking the same thing!! I do believe that we met 'She-Rah' tonight...Lmao

      Delete
    11. I was actually glad to see Christine Marie there. I seen her story on the ID channel. And while she doesn't come from a polygamous background she does have quite a story.

      Delete
    12. I think Robyn's ex is probably VERY familiar with "SHE-RAH" and probably could also tell us all about She-Rah at the next level when she's pumped with alcohol to boot!! hah!

      Delete
  7. If you taped it, look closely at Robyn's profile as she goes into the bathroom and she thinks the door is closing...she is laughing...like this is so much fun laughing.

    1. Missed that! Can someone post a screenshot?

    2. Because she thrives on the drama...she's a dirty plyg that one...I was a little surprised that Merri was so childish, she didn't even say hi to Kolleen or Aunt Krystin, isn't Mama Merri big lady supposed to be head wife, used to being a plyg...or at least polite and friendly??? NOT impressed

    1. If you are catching it on the west coast, we want to hear your thoughts!!

      Delete
    2. If this were 100% scripted, it would mean that the "showdown" between Christine and her aunt at the bathroom was set up by the producers. Would Kristyn Decker demean herself enough to go along with that. I certainly do not think she would. Therefore, I do not want to believe that it was entirely scripted.

      Delete
    3. Hey Mister Sister... just getting through it now on the West Coast. Stopping and going back to see parts over again.

Have no snark in me tonight. Just so sad watching the Browns play the victim role and putting their children in the middle of more unnecessary drama.

      Delete
    4. Oh Come On! This isn't the Brown's first ro dee oh, they are getting the hang of reality tv. The producers likely saw that Koleen and Aunt Krys were headed to the Luu and jumped at the chance to make some drama. It helps there story line about the sisies having each other backs, either that or Robyn, Merri, and Christine are just reliving there Jr High School dance days where one runs to the bathroom and the rest of the herd follow. either way it was pathetic and lame

      Delete
    5. "The sissies." Good one!

      Delete
  9. In other words....the whole thing was a joke to her. The drama was not real. The situation was just a big fat chance for her to get a laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Lmao at the crossing She Rah! I'm so over the Browns BS

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think what bothers me the most about this debate episode is how the Browns were totally focused on themselves, and how it was ok for them to speak out, but not the other side? We didn't see pre-debate, or in the debate, any of the anti-plyg side telling the Browns they couldn't speak out or saying that the Browns were betraying them. For people who just 'want to be accepted', the Browns aren't very accepting of anyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Christne in the tweet was afraid? PLEEEEZZZZWWWWWEEEEE

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I do believe that Christine was afraid.
      * She was afraid her aunt knew her well enough to see through the front she has up.
      * She was afraid her aunt could press her buttons and cause her to melt down.
      * She was afraid she could not stay strong in the face of this woman whom she loved and whom she knows was abused by polygamy.

      Delete
    2. It was supposed to be people showing the negatives of polygamy and another showing the positives. It turned into something else.

      Delete
    3. I was struck by how often Christine mentioned being the persecution they'd received from being polygamists, but at the same time, THEY'RE the ones who decided to star in a reality show on the subject. They can't expect to be paid the big bucks by TLC, have a fan base who buys their jewelry, and complain about people saying nasty to them about their lifestyle.

      Delete
    4. Did they bring up all their ooey-gooey gushy fans that praise and adore them and their lifestyle and are clamoring to be wife #5? if you're going to cry persecution, where's the flip side of their love acknowledgment shown back to all their adoring (but delusional) fans?

      Delete
    5. "THEY'RE the ones who decided to star in a reality show on the subject."

      EXACTLY !!!
That has been the sticking point all along from the beginning.
Don't cry fowl and claim your privacy has been disrespected when you chose to figuratively undress in public.

  13. Best quote of the night came from Meri: "Do you know how liberating it is to not have to sleep with him every night?!" Duh.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I wonder how many monogamyst women feel that they have to sleep with their husbands every night. I certainly don't. Yet, I love knowing that I am sleeping right beisde the love of my life. If I want a hug or a kiss I can have it. So can he, without always expecting it to progress into a major physical experience.

      Delete
    2. I'm guessing she was referring to sex and not just being next to a person. They have a big bed so I don't think it is just being next to the person which is pretty disturbing. All women, polygamist or monogamist do not have to have sex just because the man wants to. I personally like sharing a bed with my boyfriend because I feel safer in the event of a home invasion. I guess everyone is different.

      Delete
    3. yes, Meri - i can only imagine your gratitude of relief that Kody's not in your bed that night. i would feel the same way! :P

      Delete
  14. They were soo mean to the panel. Grow up. that's what a debate is all about.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The Brown adults make me sick. So self-absorbed, so intolerant of the beliefs of others while demanding they be shown tolerance. What a farce. I think they're all very insecure. If they were truly secure in their beliefs they would just live their lives and be proud of their beliefs and lifestyle and quit whining about being persecuted and judged. I think in the grand scheme of things, nobody really gives a frog's fat arse about the Browns. They have no credibility. THEY *CHOSE* to go on TV and expose their lifestyle and their lies (eg: the big bogus middle of the night departure from Lehi), so suck it up already. They seriously and delusionaly believe that they're just innocent victims who are so judged and misunderstood. GROW UP! Live your life how you choose and stop trying to throw it in the faces of those who don't respect/understand it. Why do you care anyway? So immature, such attention wh0res, such victims.

And Sobbin - you have not been a part of the Brown family long enough to have earned the RIGHT to always be the one to speak up and portray yourself as the wives' spokesperson. You remind me of the annoying girl in high school who always tried to be the center of attention, to be liked, to be respected, to be considered insightful and someone to aspire to be like......when in fact her insecurity and low self-esteem and inability to think for herself just OOZED out. And for God's sake, if you're going to always have to get your 2 cents in, at least learn how to speak and articulate....and without sounding so damn whiny.

Frankly I have had about enough of Polygamy. How many friggin shows do we need? How about some shows about Single Moms raising their families? How about shows that portray truly empowered women who aren't brainwashed or subservient little man-slaves who aspire to have the "cake" in life as opposed to the crumbs.

    1. How about shows about women who don't have their cookie stolen from them.

      Delete
    2. Maybe willy and kollene could get their own shows and we could follow their story for a bit.

      Delete
    3. I made the decision not to watch the new polygamy show because I'm frankly worn out from Sister Wives. There have been far too many contrivances and overblown situations. Manufactured drama is the formula used to snag viewers and keep them watching. Who's going to watch people perform mundane chores like folding laundry, chopping veggies, and cleaning the bathroom? If viewers see previews of a brewing conflict, TLC knows just how to cast the line and reel them in. (Sigh.) Now that I'm doing serious reading about survivors who have fled polygamy, I think I can say "no thanks" to these trifling shows. The abuse, neglect, and soul trampling that goes on in so many compounds has made my heart and head hurt for the victims that I've read about.

I agree w/ Darlene's suggestion that it's time to feature people like Willy and Kollene to show viewers how these strong, young people courageously left their difficult backgrounds to take charge of their new lives.

      Delete
    4. This show and the others are not true representations of polygamy. None show the pitfalls of real polygamy, from the abuses to degradation.

      Delete
    5. I third Darlene & Giltee Guilt's idea of having a show follow Willy & Kollene as they learn how to live life away from their community and make decisions.

      Delete
    6. Your right about Robyn, she always is the one to start answering for the entire family. When she was going on about all of them living together again I was utterly shocked that one of the others didn't shut her up, she never lived with them, she still hasn't! She is an insecure little ho who latched onto this family and sent them into a tailspin.

      Delete
    7. I wouldn't wish a "reality" show onto Willie and Kollene tho. They're super sweet and strong survivors of abuse now and need to be allowed to continue on with their healing journey and not be put in the place of becoming a vulnerable public spectacle which would happen with a show.

i feel the same way about all the Brown kids having to be featured on their show, too. I don't see any benefits for them to be so exposed - just all the downsides of experiencing going through your tough puberty/high school years in the public eye. I really feel for Logan and Aspyn now - especially after this embarrassing episode.

    2. I agree!! This has always been a wonderful blog because of just everything. The jokes, the humour, the willingness to learn more about polygamy. The people who have come on here to share their experiences and their research. The people who come on here to listen and learn. Lately, with the other programs about polygamy on the TV, this blog has really been hitting it out of the park. Serious, well researched commentaries are just as important as the wacky sense of humour. Honestly, without the humour, this would be a dreary issue and we wouldn't be able to handle all the extreme sadness and confronting stories about this 'lifestyle'. Thanks everyone.

We have 3 kids in college, and high schoolers planning on going. Not bad for us polygamists.

    1. She and the blonde kid (can't think of her name right now) just stood there, as if they were waiting to confront Christine when she came out.

      Delete
    2. Or maybe, they waited outside because they did not want to trap Christine in the bathroom. Waiting outside was much more polite than barging in and sharing the facilities at the same time.

      Delete
    3. I could see the toilet when they opened the door. There weren't any stalls. I think Krystin and Kollene were waiting outside with the intention of using the bathroom, not waiting to confront Christine.

      Delete
    4. I really think they were just standing there either to use the restroom or freshen up before the panel discussion started. I do not think her aunt went there to trap Christine.

It was a big production because Christine was afraid to walk past her aunt and say hello. Ridiculous. If you are a big enough person to go public and be on TV then deal with your aunt. Sheesh

      Delete
    5. good lord - they're not bullies. they were bullied their whole lives in polygamy. seriously doubt they were interested in ganging up on Christine. they're more mature and gracious than that. Christine's all about drama and i'm sure enjoyed her over the top dramatics about it all. The Browns seriously need to grow up already.

      Delete
    6. I don't see how Christine was "trapped." Weren't they in the hallway before Christine got there? Would it have killed Christine to be cordial? The other women were clearly the adults in the room.

      Delete
  22. Yes, I thought Christine was melodramatic about seeing her aunt and the panel discussion, but I think her emotion was real. If Kody made her go to that panel, I think that's abuse. Just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Christine went because she wanted to be paid, just like the other Brown adults. Easy enough to figure out. I doubt Kody had anything to do with forcing her to go.

      Delete
  23. I wish that the welfare question had been answered too. I don't think that most viewers know about that part of the equation. This blog has really enlightened me. I felt that Christine may have been apprehensive about seeing her aunt but she really played it to the hilt. Starved for attention and loving drama, she knew that she could use this to her benefit. Kody actually touched her.
As for the gathering in the bathroom, the aunt made a comment about junior high. She hit the nail on the head, the SW acted like immature teenagers.
This was a nothing show, we didn't learn anything new about the Browns. Kody's hair (or lack of it) was the only entertaining thing on the show. It kept changing, that bald spot is getting bigger and bigger, like his ego.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If the welfare issue had come up I don't think the Browns would have told the truth. They seem to want to forget all about that and bankruptcies.

      Delete
    2. Doll face, "Kody actually touched her." Did he put his arms around her and hold her? All I saw was him kind of awkwardly pulling at her hair. Weird!

  24. Y'all are killing me with the Meri and Robyn mermaids!! I really didn't like the way Robyn tried to jump Kollene. And this crap where Kody would give Christine money if she wanted to go is complete crap. He told her to save grocery money if she wanted go visit her family in another episode! I'm so sure he is just going to give you money to walk away...

    1. There is something that is worrying me. Both Kolleen and Willy said that they have other personas in their heads. This is highly likely as a result of abuse. Robyn has indicated that she also has an alter. I do not mean that any of them are truly split personalities, but I hope that they have access to the best mental health care around.

  25. I thought Robyn's behaviour was appalling overall. Robyn is so defensive like it is her mission to make people believe in this life style. But maybe my opinion is skewed because of how passive the other wives are. But even in the interviews she seems very defensive and angry.

I think Christine was afraid of messing up on camera more than she was afraid of confrontation. I think the wives have an image to uphold and that is where the nerves come from. It would be interesting to get a perspective on how they are viewed from within their "church". I wonder if their actions are picked apart.

  35. To Dana Silver at 9:59 PM: And what you say about the Browns is exactly why the Browns cannot be convinced of the "rightness" of their religion or "the principle." If they are truly sold out to the belief that their only way to heaven is to live "the principle" and be in plural marriage, then why aren't they teaching and emphasizing that to their children as if their children's very (after)lives depended on it? This "we support them in whatever they choose" mantra is completely antithetical to their professed beliefs. Either they believe it and live it---and pass it on to their children---or they don't.

What is it fine for the Brown's to give their opinions about polygamy and if anyone says anything negative they feel attacked but aren't they invalidating the victims of abuse with their defense of polygamy?

And they think they are painted with a broad brush. Well how about the way they paint monogamy? Like monogamous men cheat, so they are so much better because they "marry" their mistresses. And that monogamous women are harlots who miss out on wonderful blessings.

Even if this lifestyle somehow works for them because they are "special" (and I don't believe it works from what I've seen), doesn't make it a good or acceptable lifestyle. The inequality of the women's rights vs the men's rights makes it a terrible idea. Stockholm syndrome not withstanding.

  38. I was just wondering when exactly Kody "married" Robin, because I'm sure I heard her say "we decided as a family" to go public. I was under the impression that all the Kody Krew had already filmed the pilot show before Robin messed up... I mean entered their lives.

Another thing I would like an answer to is when did
Kody tell Christine that if she isn't happy he would give her money to leave. I'd bet the farm this was after Robin entered the picture. Otherwise he might have offered her food stamps to leave, but I doubt there was enough MONEY in their collective pockets to buy a two mile taxi ride for one, let alone Christine & all her kids. We know the kids would have to go too. None of the bogus, I mean bonus moms or Kody would step up & raise them.

Last but not least, I really think the reason Christine didn't want to face her aunt is because she was scared that the aunt might point out specific happenings within Christines own family that would be too hard to try and deny. I don't know how it works in their family, but if I felt I was going to be put in the hot seat, I would much rather it be by someone that loved me and not just a bunch of strangers. At the end of the the day your family is your family and even when they disagree with you they still love you. No doubt she was scared, but not for the reasons she let on.She was afraid of skeletons be let out of the closet!

    1. Yes, Anonymous 10:50, Christine is acutely aware that her aunt knows where all the bodies are buried and could, at any moment (perhaps even in front of a live UNLV audience) tell very true and uncomfortable things about Christine's actual family.

TLC has made it just a little too easy for the Browns to gloss over the very real and sometimes rotten branches in their very own family trees. They don't just want their specific family to be wholly accepted and for the viewers to smile, bat their eyes and say, "Gosh, those Browns are swell!" They also want to keep the viewers away from the big, smelly skeletons in the collective family closet.

If I were Christine, under those circumstances, I'd be having a panic attack, too. Auntie Kristyn is a wild card! Someone who can't be snowed about the facts nor forced to keep sweet. Horrors!

I'm still not going to blanket condemn polygamy although I would like more time discussing how the extremely large blended families affect children rather than focusing on adult females choosing to let their husband have sex with other females. That has gone on forever with wives choosing to accept mistresses and infidelities. Most women don't want their husband to be with them every night.

I dislike Robyn. Her nasty side comes out too quickly and she parrots Kody and speaks like she is an authority. I wish she would just shut up.

    2. Anonymous 11:05, I'm not buying your idea that "most" women don't want their husband with them every night. Perhaps this could be the next poll questions?

I've been around the planet for a while, and my experience is that most women DO want their man with them every night, unless there is something amiss in the relationship (or perhaps they had chili for dinner). At any rate, I think you'd be hard pressed to say that "most" women would be fine with their man sleeping in bed with some other woman, ever.

    3. i beg to differ that you can be emotionally immature and be a great mom. imo - i don't consider any of these women or the one dad to be great parents. i think they're all emotionally immature as well as emotionally distraught and that most of their kids are seemingly turning out ok in spite of the poor parenting they receive. Time up the road will speak loud and clearly what's really up with the kids themselves as functioning adults out in the world.

Right now, Mariah's emotional instability makes her not ready for plyghood but i imagine she will venture there sooner rather than later and Logan's kinda torn up emotionally inside with it all. Of course, he loves his family but I think he would LOVE to not be in the limelight with them and just get to be another run-of-the-mill normal kid on campus.

  48. The editing on this *debate* was so Brown slanted, it was more than disturbing.
Luckily, we had the first hand account here on SWB from someone who was there to compare. I wonder if there is a complete version of the filming. Considering the repeated and repeated sound bites before and right every commercial break, very little substance was seen or heard.

Meri, Janelle and Sobbin have had significant airtime this season with their various stories. Meri/baby, Janelle/weight loss and Sobbin/purrity.
So if the premise of this debate and the subsequent editing was designed to showcase Christine who really hasn't had much a storyline or the spotlight lately....it was a major fail!!
All it did was confirm how ineffective and child-like she is.

Sobbin's excessive praise of Kody when he feigned feeling unsure about his performance was so scripted and over-directed. But nothing new about that.

  51. I learned a new term tonight.

When you want to be a total snit, an insulting twit, a rude and arrogant brute, you call somebody Sweetie.

I saw a disjointed, terribly edited, horribly scripted (yes, the whole Christine melodrama thing sure looked scripted to me) segment of a series that is an insult to the origins of what was once called The Learning Channel.

I saw a sense of paranoia and persecution complex that was unreal and unwarranted given the circumstances of tonight's show.

In other words, if you make yourself an "outsider," don't complain about being an "outsider."

And, there was, of course, the over-dramatization for the sake of the cameras. That whole business of being intimidated by Kristyn Decker? Are you kidding me? Kristyn is a kind, timid woman.

Christine Marie, Kollene and Willie presented a reasonable, friendly, warm countenance while the Brown family did their best to be antagonistic.

I was amazed, however, at the insecurities and unfocused, unwarranted anger from the Browns; the childish behavior.

These are mean-spirited, unhappy people, and further solidified my opinion that "Sister Wives" is, at heart, nothing more than a latter-day soap opera.

Special note to Robyn: Good night, Sweetie.

    1. I thought the exact same thing and I thought the sweetie tacked onto the end showed Robyn's true colors. She used it in a way that was entirely demeaning.

She wasn't trying to do anything but paint herself as the victim and then blame it on others. I was disgusted by the way the Browns behaved tonight. That whole bathroom scene, whether scripted or not, was entirely ridiculous.
I saw a loving aunt that was waiting with Kollene to either use the restroom or freshen up before joining the panel. I did not see someone waiting to confront Christine.

Such a slanted show. If I were Christine Marie, Kollene, Kristyn or Willie, I'd feel violated at the way the show was presented.

    2. "Not Safe" felt "attacked". If one is going to put themselves on tv, sign up for discussions and debates, file lawsuits to change the laws governing your lifestyle, then I'd first make sure I could defend my position. The Browns? NOPE

I think they were defensive and 'afraid' and didn't 'feel safe' because they knew they couldn't defend their positions. I think Christine was 'afraid' to even talk to her aunt (which was RUDE and so junior high) because she was embarrassed by her past behavior, she couldn't defend her choices and because she'd never reached out to her after learning she'd left the family. Christine was also toeing the party/family line in 'shunning' the one who leaves the lifestyle/religion.

Someone ticked off TLC. LOL Of course we only saw what they wanted us to see, but oh, boy this episode was not complimentary to the Browns. The wives were depicted as immature mean girls who name called and couldn't defend their lifestyles.

  53. I don't think the subject was brought up that many young girls are forced into the polygamist lifestyle. Robin had a choice to marry her first husband and to pseudo marry Kody. If she had been forced to marry a random man and bare his children she would not defend her lifestyle.
I feel their are two sides to every coin and the Browns got the best side financially wise, since because of the show they were able to have new homes, cars, etc. Where other families on the other side are dealing with poverty and the rampant sexual abuse.

Okay, I know it's a nit pick, but letting Truely walk to Robin's house by herself. And I understand that Christine was watching her, but still I don't think it would have been that hard to walk her over and then to tell Asypen to call Robin to say the baby was coming over. 55. I feel that the Browns were being held accountable for the actions of others and not just their own. Unfortunately we have the same or very close to the same crimes going on in monogamist families and yet we are not all asked to answer for the crimes of other non plural families. To group them all together is unfair. They should only have to answer for their own behavior not every other polygamist out there.

Also, I found it interesting(the Browns blank stares that is...) when Kristyn was telling her story about how she was feeling when her husband would court & go on honeymoons with his other "wives".
B/c I just wonder if still to this day, if Merit, Christine, & Janelle has watched Robyn's & Kody's honeymoon episode??? I'm thinking probably NOT!!!!

    1. Bingo, Caramel Brownie. These women have all confessed jealousy, especially Meri and Christine, particularly when Robyn came aboard. How utterly disingenuous of them to just sit there, as though feeling awful that way was just the most foreign concept imaginable. Lying liars who lie...to themselves.

  68. well, the episode is confirmation of the many complete contradictions in the "marriages" of the Browns -- they reference and consider themselves married, yet they cannot actually be married according to the law -- thus they blatantly ignore and place themselves above the law, like every common criminal, and in complete conspiracy with each other. They must be held accountable in a court of law.

The wives stress they have roles as strong women outside of childbearing, yet defend their way of life through the revealed "gospel" (gospel in Mormon tradition only) in which the sole point of plural marriage is to glorify the husband as god in the afterlife with as many wives and children as possible (Meri are you listening -- if you do not have more children you have absolutely no other role or purpose to this man, this family, this theology -- your instincts are correct).

This "family" is so hostile and defensive that they can brook no logical debate nor criticism from outside their cult. Everyone else is wrong.

The children, as evidenced by Mariah's complete brainwashing in the culture, are being damaged beyond all repair. They need to be rescued from the abuse and neglect they are suffering to their psyches. Rescue them. It is time for the state of Nevada to step in and help, if not the state of Nevada then a federal authority. Polygamy is against the law. Kody Brown is a bigamist -- if his wives are not "legal" wives, they must certainly be considered common law wives and entitled to all protections and rights of wives under the law, including protection against bigamist and psychologically abusive husbands and cult leaders. Polygamy and bigamy are illegal and the Browns cannot be above the law, or they set a horrible precedent.

  69. KaDoodles is on TLC contracts (along with his WIFE-singular), biz ventures, etc. The rest of the women have to sign up as partners. No wonder Janelle is not into the MSWC and Christine is a homemaker, assuming she will always be provided for. Meri is the legal wife and Robyn the shill. It's a house of cards this lifestyle builds and outside the protection of the mafiosa style set-up, none of the other women have squat. Sad.

  71. I started reading this blog because I enjoyed the snarky comments, however in the last few days I have been obsessed with reading more about the horror and degradation women and children are forced to endure by the lies they are fed regarding their salvation. Read "It's Not About the Sex...My Ass!" and have started "plyg".

I agree with the posters who are calling for a TLC show that features polygamy survivors and how they must learn to trust and cope in the real world! Focusing on the resources available for survivors--where and how to get help....and also debunk the lies the cults use to frighten those who want to leave.

TLC-- tell the REAL story of polygamy!!! IMHO, TLC doesn't want the Kodys of this "lifestyle" talking too much about what their religion demands because the viewers would quickly stop watching. They didn't "choose" polygamy--they are required to live it!

  72. Reposting this from a slightly earlier thread, because I think it's important for the watching audience to be aware of:

Kody's statement at the UNLV debate about not knowing much (doctrinally) about his religion struck me as off. Hadn't I read something in "Becoming Sisterwives" that contradicted this new statement? I had to do a little digging...

"I was excited to be associating with members of Meri's faith. They had an intensity about religion that I found inspiring. Perhaps because their religion was somewhat countercultural and at odds with certain conventional doctrines, they took no aspect for their belief for granted. They examined their convictions carefully and enthusiastically. **The members of this group were fully committed to their ideologies and discussed them at length, both debating and confirming the tenants of their religion. Every day I spend with this group seemed to turn into an impromptu revival with profound discussions of spirituality and religion that I had been missing in the LDS church**" (page 22, Kindle e-book edition).

Wow, all of that intense discussion / debate (in which Kody enthusiastically participated) and he is still is naive about the doctrines of his faith? Baloney.

  73. Christine: If you would have commiserated with your Aunt Kristin over the honeymoon trauma, you would have seemed more relatble, mainstream and empathetic. All it would have taken would have been to go off script - just for that one instance - and you would have gained more fans. The Browns just really don't get it and they never, ever will. And it would not have killed you to be nice to your aunt Sweetie.

Enjoy it while it lasts Browns cause it's going going soon to be gone.

  74. Team Janelle and Team Christine here. But they both irritated me in this episode. Maybe it was just the crap job editing by TLC. Christine seemed unnecessarily dramatic, esp with the comments about her aunt "hating my family." No. She hates polygamy and that you've settled for this as a means to get into heaven, but I seriously doubt she hates you, Kody, the other wives, or any of the kids.
    *eyeroll*

  75. Although there's a lot to comment on from last night's episode, I want to call out:

Janelle, you look awesome! In the scene where you're getting reading for the panel discussion, you look slim and very pretty! You're such an inspiration!

I'd love to see People Magazine or other such publication to do a before and after story of Janelle - even if she's not done losing weight yet. They ran a story on Honey Boo-Boo's mom losing weight - this is way more inspirational!

  76. I want to know if anyone in the audience brought up the "lost boys". I really don't care what a few consenting adults do. But they promote a lifestyle that DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. Human male:female ratio is basically 1:1; if some men marry more than one woman, what happens to the leftover men? How do they justify that their "lifestyle" basically means that a majority of the men never find a life companion?

  77. Let's revisit what the professor said about what makes a successful plural marriage:

    1. The family has more than adequate financial resources - the husband is well off financially.

(Pre-TLC- we know the Browns didn't have a pot to pee in and that credit card run-ups coupled with bankruptcies and feeding off the public assistance trough was the norm. Now we hear the Williams' once successful business was struggling because of the recession).

    2. The husband is able to hide is personal favoritism of one wife over any other.

(On both shows we see obvious signs of favoritism - younger, newer, cuter, more fertile)

    3. The plural wives themselves are friends with one another.

(Anybody who has watched Sister Wives knows these women could not be described as friends as much as they give that term lip service. In fact in the previews of the upcoming counseling show the question is asked of them - are you friends - and they're shown looking like deers in headlights hesitating. As for the Williams family, we haven't seen much of their interactions (yet) but we get a hint that there is tension and conflict between the women.)

I can't remember the other one or two ingredients for plural marriage success the professor stated without going back and rewatching the show. But, lack of resources, inability of the husbands to conceal their favoritism and jealousy and infighting among the wives in both families can't be good. Yes, these are long-term marriages - but are they happy? We're seeing an awful lot of tears, fears and leers.
