Radaronline.com : Party Like A Polygamist! Kody Brown Spills On His Birthday Celebrations With His Four Sister Wives

Ever since the Browns  abandoned their 2 official Facebook pages run by 'family friends' (the Like and the one For Certified Friends Only) the only outlet for Brown info has been twitter. Now it seems even twitter has been given the semi-boot with the Browns preferring the online gossip columns instead.

Case in point...Kody's recent birthday. Instead of the usual over the top tweeting back and forth of Lover this and Lover that between Meri and Kody, we a simple birthday greeting from Meri.

And Kody's birthday tweet to Meri two days earlier was just as short and sweet...

But leave it to radaronline.com to get the 'exclusive' inside scoop on Kody and his Ko-dypendents celebrating his birthday. Of course, it would have been nice if the story was longer than 3 measly paragraphs, but I guess it's better than nothing.

There's also a slightly longer story on realitytea.com that references back to the radaronline.com story. Anyway, I imagine the Sister Wives kamera krew was there filming and I know I can't wait to see it on an upcoming episode.

Hmmm....makes you wonder how many ducats Kody was paid for the interviews...hey those McMansions are'nt going to pay for themselves, ya know!

For the curious, here are the links:

  1. I think it's interesting that they go through all the trouble to say "Da-un" now instead of David and probably try to erase all links to his bio father (just speculation and my opinion) but he SHARES a birthday with Kody probably making it impossible for Kody NOT think about the fact that Da-un is from Robyn and another man.... That must eat Kody up inside ya think?

    1. Dayton doesn't share a birthday with Kody, he shares a birthday with Meri.

    2. Right on! Remember Kody mentioned the "ick" factor of "marrying" a divorced woman? He can't bear the thought of any woman he wants to sleep with ever having been with another man. How ironic - what about the "ick" factor of him sleeping with multiple women? What's even worse is that he has no imagination about how that might feel for them. Remember when Meri tried to tell him by asking how he might feel if she did the same as him and was with other men, and how he blew it off with some bullshit about it being too "vulgar" to even think about? What an insensitive moron.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, that blew me away, his dipshit response. His pea brain wouldn't even go there, to comprehend the vulgarity of each of his "wives" screwing 3 other men. "How disgusting, Meri!! Thanks for the visual!!" And yet he cannot fathom the ick factor of what they have to live through, as he rotates from bed to bed. Puts his face in each of their crotches while their babies are born. (As he did on the show when Christine and Robyn gave birth on tv.) GROSS. DISGUSTING. PIG.

    4. Kody had the "ick" factor due to Robyn having had KIDS w/another man. Remember he'd already divorced Janelle 15+years earlier but the difference was that she didn't have kids to bring in to remind Kody daily of another man's former territory. :)

  2. I've noticed that they've cut down on that "lover" crap, I wonder why? Did they care about the bad publicity. Are they suddenly caring about the fact that they look like insensitive idiots?

    1. M,C,&J all said in the book that they struggled to watch the intimate moments between Kody and the other wives that are taped for the show. At the time, I thought that was mostly r.e. Robyn's honeymoon special, but now I have to wonder if it is really because they just can't handle seeing Kody being intimate with another wife period. OR we simply don't see the loveydovey stuff anymore because it puts too much emphasis on the individual relationships and diminishes the united front facade.

    2. They are a lot of things, but sadly not united - except for united in misery.

  3. What enthralling coverage of this non-event! (snark)
Just a few points. Radar-online describes the Browns as as a "conservative religious family." What the ...?!!! Does the writer even know what that means? Second, one or more of the children was at an athletic event - and not one of the adults was there to support them.(What could be more important than King Kody?) Unsurprising really - just follows the usual pattern of the Browns being clueless about what real parenting means. And to cap that, they evidently
"made up for the absent kids by serving Kody everything he likes to eat." That says it all! Isn't that how they make up for everything that's missing in their lives - by eating?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Regarding the athletic event - if I was one of their kids, I wouldn't want them showing up. I feel sorry for the kids, having to deal with this in their non-home life.

      Delete
    2. Good point! Especially since on the rare occasion they do show up for something for their kids, they like to make a show of it, by all 5 of them showing up together.

      Delete
    3. Oh I thought that meant the kids were ATTENDING an athletic event...like they got a few tickets to a basketball game or something. In which case the kids were proably ALL TOO HAPPY to miss the "celebration!" :D

  4. The links are good. They echo what most of SWB thinks about the Browns.

    1. Disgusting! I am a convert to the LDS religion (no longer active after realizing what a farce it is) and the first time I heard of this nastiness I wanted to vomit. White rice with gravy and then add the toppings you want. We're talking like salad bar options, chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, pineapple chunks, those crunchy chinese noodle things, you name it, you're allowed to put it on there and call it a meal. I'm guessing most mormons serve it with a side dish of jell-o salad with mandarin oranges and walnuts in it. Yuck!

  6. I got to figuring it up and if they make $10000 per episode per adult, that is $50000 an episode and add that to all their episodes they have made 2.5 million from this show so far. Don't get me wrong, I love the show. I really like Janelle and Christine the best. But If the show also covers other things, as well as paying them. Plus their book and "the Sister Wives Closet". Why on earth are they complaining about money. If they were smart about saving the money they get from the show then they should be able to pay off the homes in no time. I just don't get it. And it makes me sad to see how unhappy Janelle and Christine seem.

    1. It seems as though the only communication fans get on FB with the Brown family is on their My Sister Wife's Closet page. They posted things on it today regarding the Home Improvement & Garden show they're at this weekend.

      Delete
    2. Well, I guess forcing whatever fans are left to communicate with you via your business website is ONE way to boost your website's traffic...

The Browns are nincompoops. Is it any wonder they start business after business, all with the same predictable result? It's almost like they're purposely sabataging themselves - like they saw the movie/Broadway play 'The Producers' (when the touring company came to Y-oming or Utah) and decided this would be the blueprint for their business plans: Start, Ignore, Fail, Write it off, and Move on. Repeat as necessary.

I think I just came up with their Mission Statement!!

The more I think about it, I get the impression that Kody's brothers probably feel the same way. Remember when they came to town and went to the motorcycle bar and Kody made the comment about their dad mortgaging the farm for Kody's benefit? The one brother gave him sort-of a look, and then laughed uncomfortably. If I were Kody's father, there is NO WAY, ever, that I would mortgage my farm so Kody & Ko. could fritter away MY good name and the credit and life that I built over the years with his get-rich-quick schemes and his layabout ways. It would do none of them any good, because when Kody & the Klowns lose their Vegas homes, at least they can retreat to Y-oming to lick their wounds and think up their next move (which SHOULD be to return to Lehi, rethink the living and cabinet space, find jobs, and start being reasonable, responsible adults - but they won't do that). Instead, Kody feels ENTITLED to everything his Dad has worked for, and when Kody's plans eventually fail, he thinks his dad should lose everything, too. (Prodigal Son, anyone?)

If Kody and his Kodypendants think living in Lehi with 3 wives and 13 kids was rough, how fun will it be for them with 4 wives, 17 kids (well, maybe 12 kids, since some will have graduated and moved out), Kody's dad, Kody's dad's 2 or 3 wives, and probably a couple of dogs and cats. Good times, courtesy of Douche-y and the Braintrust he calls 'wives'.

And they think everyone is really gobbling up what they're dishing out? Come on. I'd rather eat Hawaiian Haystacks!! Bleeeeeech!!

      Delete
    3. So gross. I guess when you raise women in an environment where they are purposely kept sheltered and ignorant, they are encouraged to believe that the idea of marrying and producing an 'heir' with their father-figure is romantic, and the loftiest goal they can attain is to be totaly dependant on a man - Robin and Meri are the result, Mariah is the next generation.

Seriously, their emotional growth is so stunted, they're like perpetual 10-year-olds. The maturity of thought and actions is a little frightening! I guess the FLDS find that desirable...?

  10. So I saw the pic of the apron on twitter. Looks like a white butcher's apron with a butterfly embroidered on it using the "paw" logo as butterfly wings. No creativity here. Selling them for 19.95 at some show this weekend. Have not checked out MSWC. And all the tweets about Kody possibly shaving his head! I would NOT want to see his baldheadfor sure!

    1. I don't even think they went to the expense of having the aprons embroidered. I think they are just a screen print. Very cheap looking. And in the photo they posted of Meri & Robyn wearing them, they have creases in them. They couldn't even bother to run an iron over them before taking & posting the first official picture of the product. So tacky!

    3. Do they grow hay in Hawaii? It's such a bizarre name to an east coast ear.

      Delete
    4. Hi, Anon 12:49! My guesses as to why they're called Hawaiian Haystacks are as follows:

      - they include pinapple; pineapple = Hawaiian.
      - they showed up in the late 50's/early 60's, so it's a kitchy name for something no one would eat otherwise (think Goober Salad or Beef Aspic).
      - since everything gets piled on top of the rice, it looks like a haystack.
      - it sounds better than saying, "It's leftover night - we're cleaning the fridge and dumping everything on top of rice!"

      Bon appetite!

  14. On the spine of their book, they list a writer as "Robyn Brown." The Robyn that is "married" to Kody is Robyn Sullivan. Do they live in a land of make believe? Arent they embarrassed to use a fake name? I would be mortified. If you want to be a Brown, change your name. Once it's legal, then you can use it. Until then, lets not play games!

Reading the book, Kody has no desire to care for another mans children. No matter how he acts, the kids will pick up on it. They will also pick up on the fact that the other mothers will resent the family's resources going towards some other mans children.

Robyn said in the book that her ex is "abusive." I remember her saying the same thing on television. Even if your child's father is the biggest jerk in the world, you do not say that! Kids are well aware that half of their genes are from their daddy. If mom is bashing daddy on tv and in print, it only makes you feel bad about yourself. I feel so sorry for Robyns kids. They are going to have the self esteem of a gnat. Kids also have a way of blaming themselves for everything. So those kids will internalize Robyns disgust of their father as somehow being their fault. I feel that Robyn has set her children up for a messed up life. They would all have been better off, if she stayed a single parent. Remember the segment of her complaining about having to pay her own bills for a brief time in her life? It was pathetic. But that would be better for her kids than forcing Kodys kids to accept them, the other mothers to accept them all the while mom is bashing their REAL daddy on tv.

These Mormon women are brainwashed into thinking that need a man. It's really sad! Single parenthood is looked down upon by the church and its a shame. The men are treated like mini-gods. Because well....thats what they strive for~for the men to become Gods. The Book of Mormon is garbage. The bible warns not to add or take away from it. Mormons are brainwashed.

I feel sorry for these kids.

    1. Historically there is nothing new about Pologamy. It just reared its head again with Joseph Smith. Mormons did not dream up this idea. It was a way for men to satisfy their sexual needs and was very common in many old societies. Why are people so socked about this stuff?

      Delete
    2. Lisa,
You bring up a point that has been sitting in the background of Robin's story like a bad smell.
She needed/wanted a rescue...NOT from a bad marriage since she was allegedly already divorced when she caught Meri and Kody's eye. She wanted a caretaker and a life that relieved her of solo parental responsibilities and decisions. She also wanted access to a private, in-house credit union and bill paying rescue. Even Kody declared that she came not only with 3 kids, but with debt and no cash.

But..Meri and Kody needed a 4th wife to satisfy the producers and insure a blockbuster storyline that would keep the TLC checks coming for more and more seasons. Robin surely wanted into that proposed bonanza that was to come if she signed on as Kody new bedmate.

And yes, at what cost to her children??
Those kids, including a special needs child, were simply thrust into that bedlam.
You are right, she has vilified their father publicly. How will she justify that when they are older? And since she fits right in with the rest of them when it comes to effortless lying and distorting of facts, how much of that ex-husband stuff is even true or highly exaggerated?
It is interesting that in two years now, not even the rag mags have printed any evidence or witnesses to Robin's claims.

Someone said further up thread that Robin has been around the block.
I think that is true. Her motives for being there are less about plyg religion or sharing love, as much as getting her share of easy assets. However, she is shrewd enough to know how to stay in her assigned role as the current Kody-adoring coquette for *the show.*

      Delete
    3. Hi Lisa: What's sad is that these women aren't even convinced that they need "a man." They're convinced that they need 1/4 of a lackluster man.

      Delete
    4. Good insights, Amused. I personally think that all of these women have sacrificed much of their children's happiness and well-being just so each woman can have a chance to be in Ko-Nut's bed.

      Sad. And gross.

      Delete
    5. I've been trying to read their book. My view of Meri as mean and selfish, was based on the show. After reading Janelle's story in the book... WOW. Meri is beyond vicious! NASTY, mean hag. And I don't care how young Kody was at the time, he failed Janelle miserably. But Janelle, she may be the most messed up of them all, IMO. Like most others, I thought she came across on the show as the most logical, most together of the bunch. But she was not born into polygamy. She chose it, and then chose to stay when she was being treated like dog shit. For YEARS. I know it's based on a severe self-esteem problem. But I also get the impression Janelle is crazy-stubborn. Family members tried to rescue her when she made the decision initially, and she was "furious" with them. I haven't gotten to the part yet where she leaves for awhile. So sad that she returned.

Based on their descriptions of meeting Kody, each of these 4 women, with the very slim pool of polygamist husband pickings available to them, all fell head over heels for Kody. He was the big, shiny, outgoing fish in a very, very, very small pond.

      Delete
    6. It seems to me that Janelle was looking for something in her life. I agree with you anony that she is crazy-stubborn. She thinks she has found a religion that suits her but even if her logic brain says no she will always make excuses why she should stay. Right now it's because she doesn't want to separate her children from their half-siblings (though if she gave it a thought or 2, that's already happened). Later when her kids are all grown, she'll make up another excuse. If she hadn't hooked up with Kody she would have hooked up with a supremacist group without doubt.

    7. Hi Lisa,

While I appreciate your opinion, please remember that there are millions of Mormon followers worldwide that believe in the Book Of Mormon. Please show the same respect for their religion as you would any other religion followed on this planet.

    1. I think the first FB page was possibly moderated by TLC, but I could be wrong. That particular page is a "like" page, anyone was able to like and comment, etc. Their other page that was created by the Brown Family was originally a friend requested page and you had to be approved to be able to participate. It was moderated by "family friends" and once upon a time the Brown's would actually come on and have live chats after the episode aired on Sundays. They stopped doing that and went to Twitter. Now they mainly post on their MSWC Facebook page and their individual Twitter accounts.

      Delete
    2. If I remember correctly, the friends of the Browns started the Only Certified Friends may Apply fanpage on FB first, THEN the family friends started the Like page to accomodate the masses still waiting for their friendship to be approved. The Browns rarely made an appearance on the Like page - and their last appearance on the Friend only page was way over 6 months ago. Like Vegas Mom mentioned, the wives and Kody stick mainly to twitter and the MSWC FB page now.

There is also the TLC moderated Sister Wives FB fanpage, but I've never seen a family member posting there.

  20. Some ideas for the Brown Family’s future (in order to pay the mortgages):

Why not to turn the cul-de-sac into a Mormon Weekend experience including overnight stay?

    Arrival: Saturday at 11 a.m.
    - Welcome drink at Meri's wet bar.
    - Take your luggage to your room (at Meri's house).
    - Lunch at Robyn's followed by shopping trinkets experience.
    - Sporting afternoon at Janelle's with Janelle and the older children, followed by deep conversations about mormonism.
    - Dinner at Christine's table (Hawaiian Haystacks), with everyone including small children and more conversations about the same.
    - Night cap at Meri's bar (now you are almost converted)
    Sunday:
-Brunch at Janelle's (you need to try the peanut butter fritos)
    Departure

Now you are a mormon. Start looking for sister wives!

    1. Maybe these ideas can be for their guests who book the 'top-teir' Ultra-Fundy package...

      - Get to see ALL 4 PAIR of Kody's ACTUAL running shoes!
      - Don't forget: Green sludge coctail party/recruitment seminar on Jenelle's cement pad! (Dirt Farmers need not apply.)
      - Get the entire Sisterwife Experience, first hand;
WOMEN get to babysit all of the kids BY YOURSELF so Kody and Krew can have a night on the town!*** (Actually, Meri will be locked in her Hubby-room, Jenelle will be blogging or working out, Christine will be studying, and Robyn will be on Pintrest, looking for designs. KODY will be having a night on the town.
***Every 4th night, the 'lucky' participant will have to spend the evening with Kody...will it be YOUR night, or will you draw the short end of the stick? It could go either way.... (For your planning purposes, young, single women tend to be 'luckier', so be sure to bring your best Victoria Secret stuff, or you can pick something out of Robyn's dress-up bin. Either way.)
MEN get to leave. (And stay out. Seriously. Ever heard the "Lost Boys" myth? If you won't get lost on your own, you'll recieve a "complimentary" ride in the trunk of a car a couple of miles into the desert, and you will be dropped off. This will encourage you to be a man and fend for yourself. The ride is complimentary, but your credit card will be charged for gas usage, a per-mile charge, driver tip and a processing fee. The ride back to the Kompound is NOT INCLUDED.
      - Meet and greet with Mona, REAL LIFE REAL-ESTATE EXPERT, Christine and Jenelle's 'employer'. Learn financing tips and tricks. Cameo guest appearance by the Kredit Klean-up Guy. Neat!
      - A special dance, to see how the "magic" happens when Kody and Meri get that special feeling to court Bride #5!!! It could be you....! (I'm getting shivers - eeeeee!!)
      - See Kody whip his mange-y hair around. Whoever DOESN'T end up with hair in their mouth gets a 'special surprise'!!
      - Get an ACTUAL TOUR of the SISTER WIVES' ACTUAL CLOSETS!! 1/2 hour of trying on clothes, included. (If you have a big head or sweat a lot, DON'T SIGN UP FOR THIS PACKAGE! Turtlenecks feature prominently, just FYI.)
      - When you run out OR money or respect for the Browns, your stay will end...which ever comes first.
      - Children will be eating carbs and lots of fatty foods, non-stop. Please bring extra clothing, several sizes larger than the size they arrive in, as 'Modest is Hottest' and we want everyone appropriately covered at all times out of respect for our religious beliefs. (Turtlenecks/long-sleeved tops underneath vests, tanktops or denim shirts are acceptable for girls. They will be sleeping in them as well. Prairie dresses with long sleeves, high necks and long skirts are also allowed. Boys - no dress code.)

      Fundy-fundy-fun times for everyone!!

The closet: get some stock. Get some sourvenirs and sale in bulk ladies. Up the stock in the $5 to $20 range and quit trying to make a stupid apron or ornament a hot sale item. They are both STUPID. The ornament is worth less then $2 but FANS bought it to have something. The apron? Cheap!!! No one wears aprons anymore... maybe people in the 50s off those old tv shows that cleaned in their pearls. GET VARIETY and quick. Your store sucks!

    6. actually, there are quite a few of us that wear aprons and i have young daughter-in-laws that wear them and love them. if you've checked ebay, etsy, etc lately there are some really cute ones. some even sexy ones. I love the redneckgirl ones on her site although they can be a little pricey.

but NO - would not wear their ridics ugly designed one and don't know any of my circle of apron wearer friends/family who would. these people don't have the credibility nor fame factor numbers required to be selling their own brand of jewelry, clothing, etc. They're delusional about how "famous" they really are. Their few hundred fans slobbering all over them is not enough to support a business selling their SW branded wares to.

  21. I have watched the series since it began on TLC. It appears to me that Cody is walking a thin line with the wives. There is trouble in paradise. It surprised me that Meri knowing the money situation of the family she was not able to forget about the wet bar and then a fifth bedroom. The other three were able to stay within budget. Janelle even said she can live without things to cut costs. They do not appear to be one big happy family anymore, working together. They are four separate families now. I felt so sorry for Christine trying to study for her Real Estate License. Before all the moms pitched in. It appeared no one helped her. No she did not ask for help but in a family you would just do it. Meri at one point stated she should not get her fair share because she was only able to have one child. But at somepoint you would take less because it helps the family as a whole and you just don't need it. You have so much already and its for the whole family. That has been lost. There is such tension between the women. I'd hate to see the family start to break up but they are already separate entities neighbors whose kids play together in the back yard, even with the four houses.

    1. "They do not appear to be one big happy family anymore." Were they ever, really? We do know that they have the same agenda as the Dargers, to "normalize" polygamy" by pulling the wool over people's eyes, and they were uber conscious of that in the beginning, but they couldn't keep up the charade over a long period of time. We know that Janelle and Meri had major problems pre the show. When their missionary zeal comes into play they can resuscitate the fake "happy, happy happy" for a short time (remember when they were trying to convert that poor ex polygamist girl, Kollene?) But it all falls apart again very quickly.

    2. All I can say is that Meri better have that wet bar filled end to end with homemade pastries 24/7 and an open door policy for all the kids to come over and enjoy them whenever. I bet we never see a pastry on that wetbar.

I flashed back to that moment when Kody blurted out "I picked the dress!" And Christine got up off the couch, left the set and didn't return for two days. When they finally talked her off the ledge and back to filming, the look on Kody's face was priceless. If DUH, had a picture associated with it, that would be Kody's face.

  22. Heart necklace and earrings...? How original...not.

And thoughts on the apron - i had noticed on Robyn's Pinterest that she had a photo of an apron - you know, the kind with a waist and frills and things...that might have been what she/they wanted to do.

Look...I just don't see Meri (who, while she supposedly sews PJs for family Christmas presents, states that she "isn't crafty" in one ep) and the other wives sewing aprons with gathers etc in the amount they want to sell. Even if they could, they're just too damn lazy.

And to have them custom-manufactured...it's not the same as going to Mr. Local Jeweler down the street (btw I suspect that the heart necklace/earrings weren't designed by Robyn, but found in a wholesale jewelry catalog somewhere...they are not at all unique IMO) - they have to find an actual clothing manufacturer. While there are manufacturers in the US, I'm sure the Browns don't want to pay the prices they charge, so more than likely they would need to find one in Asia - china usually - pay a goodly upfront amount and deal with the manufacturer etc.

Hmmm can you see ANY of the Browns dealing with non-English speaking countries? Having to order at least 500 of the same item etc???

    Nope not me either.

So they took the cheap way out and went to one of those online graphic print shops, selected an apron, came up with a drawing fit for a Little Golden Book, and paid probably $2 apiece for these cheap crappy looking promotional giveaway quality aprons.

    Yup.

    Stay klassy, Brown Family.

Going to the web-link - there is only one bib apron without any pockets - the cheapest one made of polypropylene (notice how Robyn mentioned "the *material* is durable"? Why not say "fabric"? Hmmm...)

I see Kodys hand in this. He still believes that just anything with the MSWC logo will just fly off the shelves. And of course there are apparently die hard fans who will shell out $20 for a crappy promotional quality apron that probably cost the Browns a buck or so. An apron without even a flipping pocket!!!! I dunno isn't that like an essential element of a cook's apron??? Yoikes.

  23. The jewelry on My Sisterwives Closet is a joke. Cartoonish and outrageously priced. Who would wear this. Do they really think that their prices are comparable to other jewelry sites. I found this site Alex and Ani after Lauren from RHONJ posted a photo of a BEAUTIFUL bracelet and when I checked the site it was something like 27 dollars. I'm sorry but that SW necklace looks like something you would find hanging at the counter of the dollar tree. But I have to say I have enjoyed reading Janelle's weight loss blogs very much. She has been very honest about her struggles and say's out loud what a lot of us who are overweight won't say. She is the one who should study psychology and once she loses the weight, help others. I think she could be successful at this. Her blogs are well written. But this SWC business must be for some tax write off that they can show an income loss.

The irony of the browns designing and selling "Be Mine" jewelry is incredible. Really?? Be Mine, and you and you and you as well. The price is outrageous and Its tween jewelry at a pretty premium price. I think a big part of the problem is most women are not happy with any old piece of junk attention we get from our Men. Us Monogamous ladies we expect our men to buy us grown up stuff. And if a Monogamous man pisses his wife off after purchasing this stuff he doesn't have another wife to fall back on. Its just a cultural difference. The fourth wife having her name on it just makes it that much funnier. 30% sad 30% funny 40% REALLY!!!

Having said that, I think they bought them online at a website like alibaba. They probably ordered 500 or 600 of them (with the print)spending like 200 dollars + shipping, Kody reasoning that people are always begging for lower priced things so they should sell like hotcakes... I have plenty of beautiful lingerie, but I can afford it. (I work.) But when I was struggling through college, I had two bras to my name, for FOUR YEARS. 30. Sister Wives is very close to be to the "it's run it's course" phase. The money will be gone, and mortgages and bills will suffer. They WILL move from these homes. MSWC will fail. (Did it ever have success?)

With them still in ownership of the Utah home, my guess would be that they return to that safety net, and just build on. That is what their original plan should have been. But for entertainment value, they've taken the route they did. They could have spent all of the money they have brought in much more wisely had they just added another wing for Robyn and save the rest. Instead, they've taken expensive trips, invested money into homes they will never own and drained their accounts, I'm sure.

Once all of the shiny stuff is gone, and the kids have to be uprooted once again, The family will have more struggles than we have ever saw before. It's sad to sit by and watch what these adults are doing to these kids. The kids seem to be enjoying it all right now, but when it's all gone, they will see how their parents abused the money, and maybe question why they didn't care enough to be more financially responsible.

I cannot get past Meri's obsession with the wet bar. I truly believe it was never about the wet bar. It seems like something so simple that could have been added into the kitchen at a later time for a much cheaper cost. It was about having MORE. She's the first wife and WILL NOT have "just enough". So, Mariah goes to school, and it will just be her and Kodeman in the residence with all of those rooms. What. A. Waste. All of the other wives needed to stand up and say "NO! No, Kody, it is not right for her to have this massive home with no one to even live in the extra space. SAVE THE MONEY!". What Meri takes in excess is taking from their kids. Do they not care? I know I sure as heck would!

And what about those extra rooms? Will the be furnished? The next argument we may see from Meri is that the other moms have these fully furnished homes, and had she "had the amount of kids she wanted, she would have a full house, too". This would be her crutch to stand on again to get what she wants. "I need a new bedroom suit or four. I deserve just as much." Quite honestly, she does deserve just as much, BUT, with a family who is running down a road that leads to a lack of funds down the road, wouldn't it be more fitting to consider the consequences of what you are wanting to do? It's like watching the show Hoarders. They fill their homes with junk or even nice items in order to fill a void.

Meri, get counseling. Find a good therapist, but please, stop manipulating the family funds just to fill your fertility voids. You're taking away from all of your "bonus" children.

My only assumption for Meri taking full advantage of the wet bar issue and gaining three bedrooms in the process would be thinking far down the road about grown children coming back home at holidays and avoiding hotel/motel costs. That is, considering, that they are even still in these homes. That's a BIG if. AND, that is, if Meri is using logic to justify her need for such a large house. Ha, logic. That's funny stuff, right there. I doubt grandkids will ever step foot on these properties.

I could so go on about so many different subjects, but too many ideas are swirling around in my head and confusing me. :P Stay tuned!

  32. It just occurred to me that if the home loans are in the names of the individual wives, except Meri who shares the mortgage with Kody, then the increased debt Meri is taking on is levied on Kody, not on the other women. Legally that is. My question is: Has Kody ever had a Bankrupcy?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. How frequently can these people declare bankuptcy?

I mean if they can't meet their mortgage 6 months from now they get forclosed on, but if they can't declare bankruptcy to eliminate the debt because they just recently went bankrupt, won't they have to pay the piper somehow finally? Or it that when they just go back on the public dole?

    3. I think if they can't pay their mortgage, they default on their loans and they've lost any money they put down on the homes. The homes are owned by whatever lending institution they are using. They will get kicked out and the homes go back on the market. So I don't think they will be responsible for the full $450k owed on each home, they just lose the homes and whatever money they put down on them.

    4. "So I don't think they will be responsible for the full $450k owed on each home, they just lose the homes and whatever money they put down on them."

      Wait, what?

      Delete
    5. If a home goes into foreclosure because the buyer can't pay the mortgage, they lose the home, and they lose their down payment, plus of course whatever they did pay towards the monthly mortgage. The bank or other lending institution owns the home, (until a buyer completely pays off the mortgage), so a home owner isn't really a home owner until they've payed off their full 15 or 30 year mortgage. The browns, if unable to pay their mortgages, will be booted out and the bank or other lending institution will then sell the homes to someone else.

      Delete
    6. I'm a foreclosure attorney and actually, this is the way it works... If the borrower becomes delinquent on the loan, the bank/investor pool/loan servicer forecloses, takes what they are owed plus costs, and remits to the borrower anything that is left (if there is anything). If the Browns did indeed put down 40% on the homes, and the bank doesn't let them get too far behind before they foreclose (4 months is average), then the Browns should have quite a bit more money in the houses then they owe, and they would get that back. Your "downpayment" is NOT automatically forfeited just because the house is foreclosed upon.

      Delete
    7. I agree Lisa.
It's unheard of for anyone to recoup a down payment! A down payment is applied against the total financed. Your house price is $400,000, your loan is for $400,000 and you put down $200,000, so you still owe $200,000. No matter how you figure it, the $400K was paid to the builder - the bank gave it all to them and the borrower is in debt for the full amount of the loan.

      Delete
    8. All I know is, people who buy homes and pay a substantial down payment are less likely to walk away from their equity. I've heard in those cases they opt to sell the property themselves to avoid loss.

The only people I've heard of just walking away from a home was when they owed more on the mortgage than what the home was worth. Kind of like the position the Browns are in. If the Browns did not put down a lot of money they will simply walk away if they are unable to pay their mortgage.

      Delete
    9. "If the Browns did not put down a lot of money they will simply walk away if they are unable to pay their mortgage."

This is the part that I don't get. How do the laws allow someone to "simply walk away" from debt? I don't really think they do....there is bankruptcy to protect someone who owes more than their total worth, but you can't do that every year I don't think. I suspect most of the Browns have had bankruptcies too recently to declare another one so soon.

On the tv show, the Browns were approved for an interest only loan. So they are not paying any principle and not getting any equity through their monthly payments.

My guess is that when they can't pay the bills in LV anymore they will forfeit the down payment to cover part of the loan and then be liable for the remaining 20% of the original loan amount. That remaining 20% will then take the form of a lien or garnishment on all their income until it is paid off. The tragedy will be if they can't make the payments on the Lehi house due to the liens from the LV houses.

      Delete
    10. "How do the laws allow someone to "simply walk away" from debt?"

There aren't any debtor's prisons in the United States. They can walk away and let the house be foreclosed and be sold by the bank or lender.

    12. It's still astounding, that 5 adults who have all filed for bankruptcy (Christine's as recent as 2010), who don't work, and have 17 children (and counting), qualified for these home loans. Even if they are interest-only loans, with huge down payments. Whatever lender is involved, is irresponsible and a part of the problem with the industry being the mess that it is. These people should be on a dirt farm, not in four expensive new homes in a gated community.

      Delete
    13. Obviously, it's very rare for there to be any equity left over after the bank is paid what's owed on the loan the foreclosure fees/costs are paid. I'd say it happens on maybe 5% of the loans on which I foreclose...that I actually write a check to the borrowers for some amount of overage after the foreclosure.

There is nothing sacred about the "downpayment." The downpayment just goes into whatever equity you have in the property. You never "forfeit" a downpayment...

The easy way to think of it is this...the bank is never entitled to more of the proceeds from the foreclosure sale than what they're owed plus fees/costs. Anything left over after that goes back to the borrowrers (assuming no liens, second mortgages, etc). Unfortunately, most borrowers are upside down. HOWEVER, if the Browns really did put down 40%, it is highly unlikely they would be anywhere close to upside down...unless the FMV of the homes decreases signficantly, or they get behind by many, many, many months on their payments for some reason....which the bank normally doesn't let happen. As I've said before, 4 late payments is standard, 3 payments for some lenders. If a borrower gets further behind than 4 months, it's because they've done something to cause it, i.e. filed a lawsuit, bankruptcy, etc.

As for the banks being irresponsible, I could go on for days about that... Being in this industry, I have seen my clients hit with what I consider outrageous fines for "predatory" lending, which I think is ridiculous. I'm sorry, but I'm not your keeper. The bank is not your keeper. No one NEEDS a home. You can just as easily live in an apartment. I'm a business, out to make money. I'm offering you a loan with clearly defined terms. It's up to you to decide if you want to accept my offer, and if you can afford it. If you can't figure out whether you can make your monthly house payment, how is that MY problem?? Personal responsiblity here, people. Seriously.

Again, just an insider's opinion on the whole thing. (:

    14. Again....the lender does NOT automatically get everything paid into the house. That is simply not how a mortgage works. And in most states, there are now laws to keep people from losing all their payments on rent to own deals, even

    15. Thanks for the info Anon foreclosure expert - I've never owned or even really considered it, so wasnt aware of the details of what really happens in a foreclosure...with the popping of the RE bubble there have been lots of foreclosure stories in our local news over the past 5-6 years but they seldom say that the former owners recouped any money...there was one story I read recently here in which a man was fighting one of the big banks because they wouldn't refinance his loan after he got behind...turns out there were two mortgages and it was a house he inherited, fully paid for, from his parents 20 years ago...apparently he was using it like a piggy bank. Anyway the article stated he got a little over $13k after the foreclosure sale...so I suppose that was his equity left over from the proceeds after the lienholders were paid following the sale.

Question - lets just say that the Browns signed under the original loan deal offered (40% down, interest only for 5 years) and they manage to hold onto the houses for five years but default without refinancing. The lender would keep the interest paid right? And what if the homes go to foreclosure auction and sell for less than the equity? I just don't see anyone with the wherewithal to pay $400k+ being interested in those homes - I checked realtor.com and there are lots of way more attractive homes in that price range. What would happen? The browns wouldn't receive any equity they might have until after the auction/sale right?

There is no reason to have a screaming toddler hanging on her legs while updating the website.

Distractions in business happen. Spelling and grammar mistakes may happen, but the mistakes they are making, such as is/are and hear/here, are basic language skills that are only understandable for adults when he is learning English as a second language.

The Brown's need to go to the Small Business Association and get help. They clearly have no business plan or business skills. This business has no hope if they continue on this way, and they had little hope to begin with when selling inexpensive items at such a high markup.

    7. It's unprofessional to admit that you are unprofessional. Period.

Holy guacamole...I can't believe they actually want sympathy for running their business in such an unbusinesslike, unprofessional manner.

It's becoming clearer and clearer that whoever wrote that "explanation" has no idea how a business is run, let alone how the customer...THE CUSTOMER... can either make or break them. I question if they really understand what a customer is...other than someone to take money from at the earliest opportunity.

I'm suspecting that comment writer was Robyn...So here's my letter to MSWC (Robyn).

Negative comments are valid feedback. Don't think by asking the customer to only speak to you as if they were your friend will somehow soften their message. Just visualize how some people treat taxi cab drivers, or the counter help at Starbucks or at a department store. If you need further proof, just take a look at some of Maddie's comments about Starbucks and how they can't spell her name correctly to see what I mean. In other words, just because a person is face to face to you, doesn't mean their negative feedback will be 'kinder' or more civil.

And those fawning groupies saying how wonderful your MSWC is... Hate to break it to you but those people are not the ones who purchase from your store. They are the looky Lous, your cheerleaders. Remember those 300 people lurking on your website for hours but buying zero? Yep, THOSE people. There are hundreds of online stores that sell the same crap cheaper and more efficient than you do. Your advantage is you have FREE ADVERTISING via a reality show and twitter and Facebook which you have yet to use to your advantage. You just don't realize how many shops would give their right arm to have the marketing opportunities that you basically piss away each and every day.

There were 2 complaints I saw that should have sent your customer service into high gear. They both complained of ordering merchandise, being billed (one specifically said 'you have my money, where's my merchandise') and not receiving the item or being told it was on back order. Those complaints should have been handled ASAP, answered so others could see that you review your facebook daily, and can manage any negative feedback effectively. Instead, you chose to ignore the complaints...pretty much the same way you handle other negative situations. Who wants to order from a store that has a reputation of not shipping merchandise promptly? Who wants to order merchandise from a store where the owners seem more concerned about making their public appearances, or taking trips to Disneyland. Or making up excuses. Those complaints were sending you a very clear warning to CLEAN UP YOUR ACT, LADIES!

When you are dealing with customers who pay for merchandise, they don't want your excuses...they simply want their merchandise. If it's not available, notify the customer IMMEDIATELY. Update your website that the item is on backorder. Never bill until you can show proof the item has been shipped. If the customer complains, answer the complaint within 24 hours, by email AND by comment if posted on Facebook or Twitter so others can see you care.

And please, no more self-serving excuses!

      Delete
    8. "And please, no more self-serving excuses! This is IT! You are so dead on CJ! These folks beat all I have ever seen. OMGoodness, looks as though, they are attempting to set all of us straight...remember everyone, the "Brownagins" believe they are gonna have their own planet, so all of us lesser ones better get our little no good selves in line, and act like the four of the sistervives are standing in front of uswhen making comments...should we get on our knees too? Or just hand them our wallets? Would that be better?

    9. Why are screaming toddlers clinging to their legs while they are working? I thought they had sister wives to help them with childcare. Once again showing that they are lying about the advantages of polygamy.

This is the most unprofessional FB post I have ever read.

    10. My money's on the screaming toddler being Sol and the legs belonging to Robyn. Sounds like they have time management issues. Why isn't Kody helping her out? Instead of making more Brown babies, he might think about offering some help by watching Sol or helping with the shipping duties.

Does anyone else think this is just bs and this business will be folding soon?

    12. Wasn't that the whole point of having her sister, Taralyce living with her so someone could watch her kids while she worked? Or the whole point of even having sister wives? So really no excuse, there are 4 adults (including Kody and I'm using the word adult loosely) plus Taralyce available to settle that "screaming toddler".

Well maybe Mero shouldve taken care of business & customers first before wisking away w/ her Lover to Disneyland. & Maybe U ALL should handle this together since afterall its afamily business! Instead of celebrating King Koduche bday & entertaining friends over at Meri' s wetbar....Kody tweeted a few days ago about juicy steaks on the Grill & hanging w/ friends,etc.... Wonder if ALL the kids got to enjoy steak too??
As far as screaming toddler is concerned, ask One of ur " loving " SW for help. Isnt that ur advice U have to Christine?? & if their too busy, how about offering to pay One of ur older bonus kids some $$

    14. Why not have one of their many teenagers proof-read before they publish? And as for Sobbin she also has 3 older kids that are definitely capable of playing with the baby in the next room for a hour while Sobbin "works". I bet she is just crabby cause they actually had to work 7 hour shifts at the home and garden show this weekend.

    15. That post chastising their customers for deighning to provide less than glowing feedback was clearly written by Robyn. Why? Because it was manipulative. Oh, and it was a grammatical nightmare.

Again, where are the sister wives (or the actual sister) when you need them? We know where Kody is. Or at least we know 3 different beds he could be snoring in.

  34. Even though I do not like the way Meri treats the other wives, I do understand why she feels she should have as nice of a house as the other women. She is the legal wife, and if all the other wives get homes in their names, she really does deserve one too. In other words, you can't buy a nice house for 3 wives and then a small inexpensive one for another wife. It really isn't fair. It's just human nature to feel that the funds should be split evenly between wives.

    1. Well, no one is buying a nice house for Christine, Robyn or Janelle. They are on the mortgage by themselves. Kody, however, IS jointly purchasing Meri's home. Fairness and equity are not neccessarily the same thing. Yes, Meri DOES deserve a nice home, but should the person with the LEAST number of mouths to feed (hers, Mariah's for the next 6 months, and Kody's 1/4th of the time) need the MOST bedrooms? Meri's selfishness and pettiness are showing...

Sooooo much classier than anything they're selling...by FAR.

  37. Yes..Garrison's gift was really nice. I personally think the MSWC facebook posting was not thought out smartly at all. It was very distasteful. I also think all of the sisterwives act out of pure emotion 24-7, because of the lifestyle strain they are in, which in turn, their business sense suffers.

  38. I never go to Sister Wives Closet, but I had to check out their rant about customers comments. Apparently their little sobi-rant was written 15 hours ago, and it has 2,606 'likes'!

Someone must have distracted the "screaming toddler" by allowing him to repeatedly press the 'like' button

    2. That's what's so sad about this whole thing. Those fans aren't buying anything. They are just liking the page or writing supporting comments in order to look good by showing they support the Browns. But if they had to actually buy something, they are long gone. That's why I'm in the group that thinks the Browns are in way over their heads. They believe those thousands will buy that overpriced junk but in reality, its just a bunch of people wasting the Browns time. Kind of like those people who go to a realtor's open house just to be nosy and eat the refreshments.

    3. Agree.
If the Browns had more fans than critics they wouldn't have felt the need to post that ridiculous statement on FB. I sounds like the critics and unhappy customer numbers must be climbing.

  40. There site and FB page is "My Sisterwife's Closet" Shouldn't this be My Sister Wives Closet? There show is Sister Wives, two words, there is more that one wife, so the correct plural form is wives, not wife's. Now I am certainly not an English teacher, but I do know the difference between wife's and wives, as does my 16 year old. There own children could probably proof read better than the wives.

  41. I think all the people that gush on FB about what a wonderful family they are and how they all love each other are people who have only seen the first season. I think a lot of people have only seen the first two seasons that are on Netflix. I remember thinking that they were a functional family unit the first season. But all the tears have been going on since the first episode so I knew they weren't happy. You could also see a mile away that Sobbin was going to be a train wreck. Also the first season was probably scripted. In the sisterwives book you see the four women together and Meri has super long hair. Then in the first few episodes when Kody and Robin are all nervous and giggly around each other like they just met, Meri already had the shorter haircut.

    1. Oh, I just had to write this!! Even tho I feel mean or rediculous.

...So are you saying Meri decided she wouldn't wash Koduche's feet on their planet in the afterlife, and so cut her hair when Robyn came into the family?

(That's why the Fundy Mormon women have long hair according to what I've read/watched this weekend.)

Have we noticed Robyn's hair getting longer?
Meri's hair keeps getting shorter it seems. Are Jenelle and Christine sporting shorter cuts too?

Maybe they need to stock hair extensions or budget for hair growing plugs for both King Kody and Robyn in the afterlife....

God knows we wouldn't want the king to have dirty feet!!

      To much stink there already!

  42. So...by what I have seen and heard, I suppose all of us and even their own buyers on the MSWC , are gonna get the blame when the show gets cancelled and the business fails , and when some of the wives leave? 48. On their website it says "Haven't you ever wondered what it would be like to have access to all your friend's closets? My Sisterwife's Closet is a store that will feature the very different styles and tastes of us four sisterwives." So that would lead me to believe each wife had their own page/closet of stuff that was a representation of them (I know I know you guys are screaming they have no taste and are so tacky and are the worst dressers). But like Christine's closet would have girly foo foo stuff and Janelle's maybe she had more sportswear and comfort oriented clothes and Robyn's closet was all waterproof clothing for her incessant crying and Meri had a bunch of cocktail dresses (with fugly longsleeve undershirts) for her wet bar parties. I just don't understand how what their website says it's intention is and what the sad sad state of affairs it really is with no signs of working toward their goal.

  49. I wonder what the packaging of each item will be like. Attractive? me thinks not. My girls like Pandora bracelet and necklace charms, stirling silver ones. Although they can be expensive depending on silver, gold, diamonds etc. The sterling siliver ones cost less to buy than the Sister Wive's charms, and far far more attracive.
Robyn's designed heart really is a joke. I have a heart neck charm one of my daughter's gave me......oh pulleeeaasssse, an original design .....bull crap.
The screen print on the apron reminds me of when I was learning to embroider. I could buy material with a picture/pattern printed on it, I would then embroider over that.
When I saw the "freind's closet" thingy on their website, I did wonder what on earth they would be designing (I say design loosely) and selling. I thought by now they would actually have someting for sale on there.

  51. Anon 12:33 - whatever their return policy is, I just checked their website and if an unhappy customer decided to file a chargeback with their card issuer, then they would more than likely prevail. I'm sure the Browns would play the wahhhh sympathy card again however.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sorry but its a case of buyer beware. The customer has to follow the return policies of the merchant. If the merchant says no returns but the customer claims the item is defective, the card issuer may contact the vendor as a goodwill gesture, but goods and services disputes are generally a matter between the customer and merchant. Credit card issuers rarely want to get involved. Now if the customer can provide proof of return within the policy set by the merchant as well as tracing results showing the merchandise was received by the merchant, the merchant should issue credit. Chargebacks are actually considered a bad thing - too many being processed and the merchant could lose their account with the credit card issuer.

  52. Regarding the mortgage/foreclosure thread above (I couldn't nest in the thread itself) I went back to the article on SFGate that I had read about the guy who lost his house - and basically by LAW, banks/lenders are only permitted to keep what they owe plus fees after the home is auctioned off, however:

"A key reason houses often sell for less than estimated or appraised value in the bank auction market is that prospective buyers are not allowed to inspect the place. They are not allowed to conduct formal appraisals. In the auction market there are no open houses, disclosure reports, etc. Houses put up for bank auction are sold "as is" with the buyer assuming 100% of the liability for defects they discover after they have bought the place. The new buyer will be required to remedy those defects, before they can use or flip the house.

Another reason prices on the bank auction market are lower than the market is that buyers can't get bank loans. There are no formal inspections or appraisals to establish a possible value that a bank then uses to secure its loan to the buyer. Buyers at auctions need to get the money from other, and more expensive sources. Your auction buyer simply is not going to get the money at %4.125 like an open market buyer can. This means the pool of potential buyers is much smaller. Those buyers will also be motivated more by the financial aspects of the deal rather than someone falling for a "dream house" the way it happens on the open market."
