In 2011, the Sister Wives Blog started out as a place to talk about the TLC reality show "Sister Wives", Kody Brown and his wives Christine, Robyn, Meri and Janelle. Today we not only discuss the show, we discuss Polygamy in our society, and the public perceptions of the Mormon Religion. We discuss "Polygamy USA" and will be covering "My 5 Wives." This blog is geared towards the adult reader, so please, no one under the age of 18 years. Thank you!

Saw something awesome on a website I check out everyday. There was an interview with the mom from Honey Boo Boo. She said she does not take 1 penny of her living expenses from the TLC money! TLC is directed to send the check(s) to the trusts she has set up for her daughters and grand daughter. She said something to the effect of, "Im not going to change how I live because this all can end" I think that is sooo cool! The Gosselin's sure didn't follow that!! We know these fools sure don't!! But here is this woman, that everyone makes fun of and says they are crazy hillbillies, she gets it right! Yeah Momma June!
ReplyDeleteI saw that...and I hope it's true.....message to Koturd and Krew.....don't live on windfall money!!
DeleteMaybe not the TLC $ but trust me that's not the only money coming in from HBB. She's cashing in, trust me.
DeleteFrom what I've seen of the show, she's not doing her daughters any favors - I think mama June enjoys the limelight way too much, and is whoring her daughter out on TV for that attention.
Lets see what happens in 7-10 years...it's going to be like Bette Davis in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane"?
Also I doubt there's going to be all that much in the trust fund. We're not talking Macualay Culkin bucks here.
Sorry, I know there are a lot of HBB fans here, but I am not about to give kudos to any parent that allows their children to be buffoons on a fly by night reality TV show.
Absolutely agree DJ!! I think what's being done to/with HBB is child abuse. She is 7 years old, and being taught that to look dumb and crass earns money and fame. And as a retired teacher I just thank God I don't have in my 2nd grade class! Can you imagine how she acts in school? If her behavior on Dr. Drew or Anderson Cooper is any indication, don't anyone try to tell Ms. Alana how to behave or to be polite...that is one show I refuse to watch!!
DeleteI think it's great they are putting the money away but that show is terrible. I was flipping around channels and saw the Halloween episode and thought it was terrible how that little girl just took handfuls and handfuls of candy. The lady giving it out had to tell her that is enough. The lack of manners had me shaking my head. I do wish Kody and his Kodettes would realize the $$$ is not always going to be there.
DeleteIt's not necessarily bad if Honey Boo Boo grows up into obscurity. Look at Shirley Temple ... she developed an amazing career completely outside of show business. Other child stars like Brady Bunch kids never succeeded in an acting career. She doesn't have to continue acting ... I hope the money saving story is true.
DeleteAnon 10:36 You're forgetting that Shirley Temple had acting talent, Honey Boo Boo does not. I also agree with DJ. I've read where the oldest daughter despises June and was angry that she was forced to move back in to June's house. She was happily living with her Grandmother but in order to get a piece of the TLC pie, June forced her to return. It sounds to me as if June is blackmailing her.
DeleteThese type of shows have to end. I wish I knew how to help accomplish that but I haven't a clue. Sigh.
Those videos of the Thompson family will be on the Internet forever and could very well effect the children's lives until they die. As far as the money allegedly being put into trust...mama June can say what she likes. Even if she is doing that - the show will more than likely be a flash in the pan. It's not going to be enough to be "set for life". It might not even be enough to pay for college - if indeed Alana and sisters opt for that.
DeleteShe's no Shirley Temple - by a long shot. Shirley was - and most likely still is - a beautiful, intelligent, talented woman with poise and manners. This enabled her to go on acting past childhood, into TV until she chose to leave the industry to raise her family and later a distinguished career as a US Ambassador.
Even Anna Nicole Smith's daughter being raised by her dad - she's a lovely little girl and it seems that her father is intent on making sure she has a normal happy life as possible.
Love Honey Boo Boo. Never thought I would, though. Everybody was talking about it, so I just had to see for myself. While I admit they are kinda gross/crude, underneath it all, they do appear to be a regular, loving family. They don't have tons of money (pre TLC) or an esteemed pedigree. Honestly, I think people are very turned off by the fact they are self proclaimed rednecks. They are not your middle or upper class beauties. They r just regular folks. Honestly I know plenty of folks like them. Can't say I agree with all their choices, but this family is all right in my book. In 10 yrs, they might have their issue, but I suspect they'll be better off than quite a few reality stars, including the Browms!
DeleteShe may change her tune, though. A lot of people start out with good intentions, but get carried away and change when tons of money starts rolling in. I admit it would change me.
DeleteI just watched an interview with Anna Nicole Smith's baby daddy, and Dani Lynn (sp) is now the face of Guess for children, following in her mother's footsteps. So I have a feeling he might test the waters.
DeleteI've watched Honey Boo Boo a couple of times and I cringe to think the teasing Alana will get in later years-- especially high school. But, it does seem that she has a lot of confidence so maybe she won't let it take her down. However, the plan to keep the money until only 21? If it is a substantial amount (after education, etc), then give half at 21, half at 30. Its too easy for a young person to blow it on something silly like an expensive car.
DeleteThere is a law (or was when I was a child) that reqires parents to set aside 50% of their childs entertainment income until the child is eighteen years old. Hopefully its still on the books and enforced.
ReplyDeleteI am proud of Momma June. College students who are enrolled F/T are more likely to graduate. The Brown & Sullivan children will probably have to work in order to pay for school. So its doubtful they would be able to be enrolled F/T. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Except these kids have given up their privacy and they've earned the TLC money. So I believe they should have significant college accounts. I doubt these people are saving more than what is legally required, which is a shame.
Laws vary by state as far as children in entertainment. California's are the strictest, but many states have little or no requirements for these kinds of things.
DeleteThat's the Coogan law and its only in California.
DeleteAlso it's not the child getting paid...TLC normally pays the family a lump sum per episode. So more than likely the check or whatever is written out to Mama.
And reality show "stars" are not considered actors. They are exempt from laws like the Coogan law. The parents have NO legal requirement to do anything regarding saving money for the child's future. They can (and usually do) spend every penny earned by being on a reality show.
DeleteYou're right, the reality show participants aren't 'actors, BUT the laws in CA and many other states have been amended to now include reality tv children (they include all children in the entertainment industry). Even PA, the home state of the infamous Gosselin family, passed a new law last year which includes protection for children in all areas of entertainment --- including reality tv. This includes the girls in Dance Moms which tapes mainly in PA.
DeleteThe Coogan law states that 15% of earnings must be put aside in trusts for the children.
Robyn looks less than thrilled here. She's been off. Something is up.
ReplyDeleteNever judge a book by it's cover! Mama June is no fool. She will be still laughing and enjoying life after their show ends. I will say it again.........the Browns could learn a lot from June. Hopefully they will at least get AC in their home for the summer.
ReplyDeleteI watched HBB for the first time last night and was so disgusted by the way those kids act. All the talk about farting and throwing body secretions on each other just made me insane. How can they grab tissue off of their mama's costume, blow their nose on it, and throw it back on her or flick used dental floss on her clothes. And, they all talk about farting and mama june peed in the corn patch. How can that be an example of anything? She might have a basement full of toilet paper from extreme couponing and she might put all their earnings in a trust fund for the kids but to give it to them when they turn 21 is as stupid as giving it to them when they turn 16. I have trust funds for my grand babies and they don't touch it until they either graduate college with a masters or turn 35.
DeleteI feel so sorry for HBB and her sisters. Holy Crap.
Money doesn't change you. It just magnifies you. The Mama June family was perfectly happy and loving and charitable before their show and yes, they'll continue to be so afterwards. They have definitely magnified their charitable giving thanks to the show.
DeleteThe Browns were an unhappy lot (read their book) before their show and are an unhappier lot w/their newfound wealth and will be an even unhappier hot mess of a family once it's over and they have their strong regrets. They weren't a charitable bunch before and they sure aren't now. Just greedier and more entitled than ever.
And please take care of their little dog. I hate when the camera pans in on his sad little face. Maybe a visit to vet? He or she seems to need some attention.
Deletelol - remember their HBB "reality" show is a scripted show depicting the hilarity of being an over-the-top uncouth and uneducated redneck family for the viewer's entertainment. Take it for what it is. Their juvenile antics and unrefined manner are certainly not my cup of tea but yeah, the family is much more genuinely loving and loyal to each other and likable compared to the Browns. At least they're not wearing their religion on their sleeves publicly and living like complete hypocrites within the ranks of their self-proclamation of "just ONE big" family when NO - they're not at all! That's what's truly vulgar and disgusting.
DeleteMama June putting money in trust for her girls until they turn 21 is better than is required by LAW (Coogan law in CA) in many states which only requires it to be till age 18. At least she's putting the money aside and not spending it on fancy cars or a McMansion or trips.
DeleteShe's stated in many articles that they live on her husband's earnings and they're happy with that. They may be a bit 'backward' or uneducated or not fit into all social circles and not everyone's cup of tea, but IMO, they seem to be a loving, open, and happy family.
For those who don't believe Robyn was pregnant, what is your explanation for the sudden loss of "pooch"? Plastic surgery? Someone on the other page mentioned getting something tightened up. I also find it hard to believe that they could have kept a miscarriage a secret but I also feel that there is something up with her stomach and the sudden loss of it that can't be explained away by saying it was spanx, video taken out of order, or that she just lost a bunch of weight quickly. Any other ideas?
ReplyDeleteRobyns explaination for losing her belly was....yep, you guessed it, the green goo Kody sells! LOL I just read her testimony. Misspellings and on, on their web site. I think she just got big and then lost it. I want to know what Christine did! I think she had a lap band put in. She is tiny now. I want to be her size by my birthday.
DeleteIf she didn't have a tummy tuck, she could have done the rehab, or be wearing a splint, but you can make your mummy-tummy "disappear" with the right support garment. She may have seen herself on an episode and upgraded her underpinnings! : ) I know whereof I speak--my ab-rehab erased 4 inches, but I didn't lose a pound.
DeleteI've never been pregnant ever, but I've had rapid weight gains/losses myself - noticeable ones. That's one reason I don't think Robyn was pregnant this year.
DeleteChristine has lost weight, but I wouldn't call her "tiny". If she had a lap band, we'd know about it. These days most WLS hospitals require patients to undergo lifestyle change classes before getting the surgery unless they're in a life threatening situation. At least the responsible ones do.
Robyn had Sol 15 months ago and some of these episodes were filmed 6 months after that. This was also her fourth child. I think we should cut her some slack. She was very fit when Kody met her and that could be because she was simply years postpartum and leading a much healthier lifestyle/looking for her sugar daddy. She now can hang loose. While I doubt she and Jenelle will ever share a closet, she and Meri just might in the next few years.
DeleteI can even see her gaining a bunch of weight and then losing it quickly just to push their green kool aid product. She seems to have the body to be able to do that.
DeleteDid Robyn put a statement on her site about losing weight recently? If so, maybe she comes here to read?
DeleteWhere does Robyn post updates like weight loss and stuff? I haven't seen anything out there and I'm curious.
DeleteI'm in the camp that never have thought Robyn was pregnant. Too many people have reported seeing her out and said she wasn't. Also, the show is clipped together so crazily that one minute Kody has a short fluffy hair do, and the next it's long and stringy. I think Robyn would not be able to resist mentioning it somewhere over the last few months. She has to have Sol in every shot, and I think she would really milk that story line. Just my opinion, though.
DeleteI didn't think Sobyn was PG either until I saw the RV trip. It was not a coincidence that almost every angle shot of her, her stomach was covered.
DeleteThe one brief glimpse of her stomach, to me, she looked PG. It wasn't flabby baby fat. It was round like a basketball, hard looking, and started right at her rib cage.
I think her cryptic 11/22 tweet along the lines of angels watching over us was actually her due date.
She may only have been 2 or 3 months along. I know a lot of people that don't announce it until they are 3/4 months along in the case of a miscarriage and that could easily be the case here.
It could also have been the season cliffhanger that never happened and are trying for next years cliffhanger.
Applaud mama June, but I'm sorry if I was making money on a tv show then I am going to better my life a little. There is a happy medium between blowing it and not taking a penny. You can save a portion and still buy some nice things for your family.
ReplyDeleteI love this blog but one thing that I really love is seeing the delushional 'pro brown' comments that crop up occasionally. I think they may come from the Brown family directly (hope it isn't the teens though, I wouldn't like to think they read this blog). I think SWB should do a post collating defensive posts because they are so amusing! If you read this whole blog, it isn't 'anti Brown' its anti welfare fraud, anti abuse, anti using kids for fame etc etc.
ReplyDeleteMegsMom, I saw the same article and did a fist pump. I hope Mama June stays true and ignores all the people telling her to spend her kids money. That is a family that survives well without a Mcmansion!
Well, to be honest, some of the posts here can come off as "anti-Brown" sometimes. Like I remember once someone commented that Logan and Robyn both had cold sores at the same time and insinuated that they wee having an affair... I thought that was taking things too far. And TBH, I don't find Kody to be a particularly bad father as far as fathers go. I don't think the Browns are bad people.
DeleteThat being said, as a long-time reader (and infrequent commenter), I like this blog a lot for offering a more critical perspective on the Browns. I honestly have nothing against their lifestyle-- it's totally not for me (I'm a sailor-mouthed, booze-drinking, feminist atheist) but I don't care what they do-- but what really gets me is their lack of financial foresight. Like it just makes NO SENSE to live the way they do. Couldn't they build two houses instead of four? Meri and Robyn could share one, with two separate kitchens, and Christine and Janelle could share the other with a single kitchen (I don't get the impression that Janelle cooks very much). Even that would cut down on costs. But no, they HAVE to have four mansions. Just thinking about the environmental un-sustainability of it makes my skin crawl. SMH.
And if none of them have jobs right now, why aren't there more than 12 items for sale on MSWC?
Meri and her daughter receiving the same housing budget as the other "families" is unfair.
DeleteMeri insisting on going over that already inflated budget is ridiculous.
Meri crying, whining, insisting that she is entitled to French doors, a wet bar, a hobby room, (and probably a gold plated "Who-vill" style magic present wrapping machine in the basement) and going on and on about feeling penalized for not having the 8 kids she says she wanted is disgusting.
This woman is absolutely vile.
Too bad there are no meds to treat histrionic personality disorder.
Notice how Mary says she would have had 8 kids, which is two more than Christine and Janelle had. She's competitive with the other wives even when talking hypothetically.
Deleteyes, and what's the obsession with SEVEN bedrooms for her 8 kids?? one would be a master bedroom so 6 bedrooms for the 8 kids is perfect in her mine but i don't know why. she's annoying. in lots of ways.
DeleteWell, jacqueline2194, I agree that at times many of the bloggers do come across as a little anti brown; however, the way the brown's stated their intent for the show was to show us the positive polyg lifestyle and as of yet, we have not seen the positive side. Before the Browns, I always said, live and let live; however, when the let living costs me through their welfare fraud and all of the other fraud, I am opposed. When someone runs up credit cards and doesn't pay the bill and then files bankruptcy, that theivery, like shoplifters theivery, ends up costing me, the consumer. Those companies are going to make their money back, even if it means they add more charges to me through the cost or interest or whatever. When women have children and file for welfare, foodstamps, child care allowances, or medicaid, that affects me and I am allowed to hate on them...particularly if they go on national TV claiming to live a life better than my one husband one wife life. Their comparison of my all monogamous men to cheating, lying adultererers irritates me because yes some monogomous men cheat...behind their wives back (Kody cheats in front of his wives) but not all monogomous men cheat. To say that polyg makes them better...better than who or what...me? I think not. I have PhD, work hard, pay cash for almost everything, have raised my children, and help with my grand kids. My husband and I have known each other almost our entire lives and I trust him with my life. Do I think he has cheated, No. Polyg women have this vile take on men, which suggests that men cannot be happy with only one woman...men need variety or they cheat. What does that tell little girls about men? My point is, yes we critique them, and yes we talk about their cold sores, and how is it possible for one man to spread the cold sores from one wife to another, to another, and finally to his children. How sad. Yes...we think we have the right to critique this family.
DeleteYes, thank you Anon 10:22 am. Right on the money.
DeleteAnon 10:22 I think you have the right to critique this family, too. Critique away! I'm just saying I find some-- some, but not all-- of the criticisms to be unfair. But you're right, the lack of financial planning is ridiculous.
DeleteExactly, anon! Even if my husband had three concubines, like theirs, we PAY OUR BILLS.
DeleteYeah, I love when Kody says he takes responsibility for the women he sleeps with; as if.
DeleteSure you do. That's why they are called Christine's kids, janelle's kids.... and that's why Christine says her kids can go eight days without seeing him. That doesn't sound responsible to me.
I don't have cable channels so I have missed seeing the actal show this season. However I must say I like the indivuals on Sister Wives. They enertain me for free.
ReplyDeleteThese people are sick. TLC could make a reality show about a family of porn stars~show the public how "normal" they are, their "hobby", and how their children are so "good", and just like Sister Wives, it will still be distasteful because that-which-will-not-be-talked-about is the huge pink elphephant in the room.
ReplyDeleteThank. You. He's having SEX with all four (maybe) women on a regular basis. Let's be honest....that's what fascinates people about polygamy. And yet the family acts all offended if that issue is ever brought up.
DeleteRobyn has come full circle. She was depressed and resentful when Kody found her. And once again, she is depressed.
ReplyDeleteRobyn resented having to briefly work, to support her family, while she was a single parent. She felt Kody and TLC would be the solution to her problem. So the money attracted Robyn to Kody. She saw him as a meal ticket.
Robyn resented having to take care of her children. She thought that having sister wives would be the answer, but she did not realize at the time that sister wives do not want to take care of other peoples children. They have enough of their own. Disappointed, Robyn calls on her half-sister to become her live-in nanny.
Robyn gloated to her sister wives how she believe that keeping the spark alive in a marriage is possible and that she believes in that. I guess she forgot that she couldn't keep the spark alive in marriage number one.
Robyn loved the excitement that dating Kody brought in contrast to not only her life as a single parent but also in contrast to the amount of attention that her sister wives were receiving. Dating Kody made Robyn feel very special and marrying him appeared to answer many of her problems.
But like all good fairy tails, it must come to an end. Robyn and Kody no longer have the new relationship excitement vibe. After such a short period of time, they are already acting like an old married couple. Contrary to what Robyn believes in, there appears to be no more spark between Kody and her.
Sure Robyn will eventually cycle in and out as Kodys favorite wife of the week. But it will never get back to the feelings they had at the beginning. And since so much of this relationship was built on fantasy, this is not good news. I feel their relationship is doomed. I do not see Robyn ever being happy in this relationship. I see Kody as being disappointed in Robyn. Because once enough time had passed and her facade slowly faded away, he realized that she is a real woman, with real issues and he wanted none of that. He wanted a wife that would be seen and not heard. I wouldn't at all be surprised to learn that they already regret marrying each other. Robyn once said she would be very upset if Kody married a fifth wife, she said, "I would be like am I not...?" I think she was going to say "enough." I predict that Kody will definitely marry other women.
Robyn is miserable, just as she was before she met Kody. Because Robyn lives in lah-lah land. On what planet is it acceptable to say such derogatory things about your children's father? And the fake family tree on their web page, the one where Robyn's kids are Kodys, that is insane! Also, changing David's name was pathetic. I know the FLDS love to erase peoples pasts and they lie to children and tell them that they share DNA with their "new" dads. Maybe thats where these people get these ridiculous ideas from.
They all look so foolish.
This is an excellent analysis!
DeleteI agree with you Free the Flds. I think the 'bloom is definitely off the rose' in their relationship. I think that may be why she carries Sol around all the time; Koduche favors him, so Robyn get attention when he's there too.
DeleteI think Christine is losing so much weight mostly because she is so unhappy. I think I like her best; but mostly because I feel so sorry for her. As Polygamist 'royalty' she REALLLY believes all this stuff. I think her heart was broken when Koduche "replaced" her with Robyn, and also it was broken by the "failing" relationships with the other wives. As she implied in the Secrets show, I think she misses the time when they were living all together. And I think it breaks her heart that Kody really doesn't seem to want to be with her (that hate-filled stare he gives her), and that he doesn't pay any attention to Truely. Losing weight, being more aggressive verbally, and loss of desire to keep family home clean all suggest clinical depression to me! JMO
Yup...agree with everything you said about Robyn!
DeleteAnd, like Cody, Meri will get bored with Robyn too, and toss her on Janelle's and Christine's side of the couch in no time.
Remember, there was a time Meri liked Christine, and the two of them went on outings, leaving Janelle alone; Yet, when Robyn comes along, Meri says it's the sisterwife relationship she's always wanted..(or something to that effect)
Totally agree with everything you just said about Robyn! I don't think she would ever have become a fourth wife, especially Kody Brown's fourth wife, UNLESS they were on television or had money coming in. She even wrote in the book that not many women want to become fourth wives and made a point that she noticed the nice cars the Brown family had in their driveway on her first visit to their house. And what was up with that entire She-rah thing in their book? That was weird. I don't want to hate on her, she has obviously had a hard life and has been raised to be delusional, much like her sister wife Christine. When she said that she wanted her marriage to be a permanent honeymoon like her parents had, I automatically assumed that her parents were still married. When I later found out that her parents are now divorced, I was shocked. Why would you even say your parents had a great marriage that you wanted to copy if they are now divorced?
DeleteSomeone mentioned on the last posting that they think Kody is irritated with Robyn already, I would agree with that. I think he was irritated with her as early as last season. During one of the Q and A episodes, a question was asked about Robyn's divorce, and Kody looked furious. I don't think he has ever gotten over the fact that she was married before and has 3 kids from that marriage. Her son David must also take up a lot of energy, and we all know how Kody feels about having to pay attention to their kids. I feel really bad for her kids, but especially David, AKA Dae-un.
I also think Kody is irritated with Robyn when she cries. When Meir cries, he acts concerned. When Robyn cries, he gets this look on his face like, ugh, not again. I may be in the minority, but I do not think she is his favorite wife. Meri is obviously the number one wife in all ways, but I think Janelle is his second favorite wife. She had the number one child/son, has 6 kids with him (4 sons which is a huge deal for them), and was the number one money maker in the family and probably always will be. What stood out in the book to me, was that Kody said he was attracted to Janelle, he has never said a word about her weight, whereas he said straight up he wasn't attracted to Christine and has commented on her weight. I think the fact that Janelle is much shorter than him has a lot to do with it, I don't think Kody Brown is a tall man. Back to my point, Kody needs Janelle to make money and handle the finances and Meri to validate him and be his fall guy, Robyn and Christine are just extras to make babies. And if Sol is showing signs of autism as others have said, that might be the final nail in their marriage. Kody doesn't want to have to deal with "baggage".
Robyn should have married someone who only wanted her to be their wife, I don't see her staying in this situation, where Kody will probably take wife number 5 soon, 2 of her sister wives have no need for her, and one just wants to use her.
This situation is terrible, I hope at least 2 of the wives escape and get their sanity back, but it sure is entertaining to watch!
*** "They all look so foolish." ***
DeleteThis sums up Sister Wives..!!!
Sums up the show, the adults, and their "Principle" !!!
FreetheFDLS - Reading through your comment made me think of that line in Friends with Benefits move where the girl asks "Why don't they make a movie about what happens after?" and the response she gets is "They do - its called Porn." - Robin was so caught up in the fantasy of what could be that she didn't take the time to realize what actually was.
DeleteWhen she says she fell in love with the family - it is always prefaced by the fact that the Browns were in talks to do this show before she came into the family. I don't think it is the family she fell in love with - I think it was the bright lights of fame - which are slowly losing power.
In addition, I don't think that Meri/Kody found Robin at a "dance" - I think they went scouting for a new spouse because that was probably part of the way they sold the concept to TLC - I'm sure TLC was looking for a family to follow - but the Browns won by saying not only do we live this lifestyle - but we are adding a fourth wife - after what 15+ years of marriage. Remember in Big Love when Bill did that and it failed?
I just know that if you take the time to line out all that has been said/done - and watch closely enough - not all the things are truthful and those that are truthful are shadowed by omission. And while omission isn't lying per say - it is a ugly cousin that lives in the same neighborhood.
I definitely believe that when the going gets rough (when the TLC train makes its final stop at the Brown's) Robyn is going to leave Kody for "greener pastures".
DeleteI mentioned in another comment something called the Brigham Young mandate - that allows an unsatisfied woman to marry the next man with greater priesthoods - in other words to leave a current husband by asking to be released, and then marrying 'up' with the next husband.
Here's a link to my comment:
http://sisterwivesblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/video-sister-wives-what-wives-want-they.html?showComment=1355874099114#c1870167883067489082
I agree with much but not about Kody and Robyn. They may not be soul mates but Kody definitely still has the hots for her. Remember how he looked at her and only her after his closing words at the "Secrets revealed" (it was actually kind of awkward for other wives). I think Robyn is the only one he has a regular physical relationship with and he caters for Meri because she was his first wife and they have some kind of a bond apparently. He is clearly only friends with Janelle (but I think she is happy with that) and there is a lot of tension between him and Christine. I don't think they are doing particularly well and Christine suffers alone in this. Kody doesn't really seem to care. He knows she will never leave so he won't even bother.
DeleteRobyn has grown on me this season. I honestly think she was the one conned by the Browns, not the other way around. I actually think she and Christine are probably the most similar if Christine could get over her bitter resentment of Robyn and what she represented to the marriage (Christine was no longer the 'fun' wife). It does sound like Robyn had a tough upbringing and she has alluded to some abuse in her past. I think Robyn saw what we saw during the first few episodes of the series, a cohesive family under one roof and an involved father. From all the reading I have done on polygamy, Kody is actually pretty involved in his kids lives compared to some of the other plyg dads I read about. He may not be anymore, but at that time, he was. I cut Robyn a lot of slack because I think she is probably just tired, she has 3 young chidren and Dayton (he is David, Jr, called "Dayton", I do not believe they 'changed his name') has some special needs. Also, I still give props to her for giving birth in her bed with no drugs....I know this is common in their lifestyle but still, I had a lot of respect for her watching that birth. She has very little education and I think really wants to have that sister wife bond....I think in time, that bond may be with Christine. Robyn knows the honeymoon is over but I think she is mostly just tired.
DeleteI can't get over the fact that Robyn has no job, 3 sisterwives who are suposed to help (never mind that 3 of her kids are in school for Christ sake) as she needs a frickin live in nanny to help her!?!?! WTF?!?!
DeleteI have 4 kids, a JOB, no sisterwives to help, a husband who also works, and I do not have a live in nanny (or any kind of nanny for that matter). I don't get it. They say a perk of sisterwives is the free childcare, yet Robyn has a nanny (and did I mention no job).
Watched the you tube video and found it very insightful. I wish more of our mormon friends could see how foolish this doctrine sounds. I would hate to be in their shoes the day they stand before the one and only God and try to tell Him that they deserve their own planet. Really? But I am not going to verbally bash them because I do feel sad and pray for them, especially the kids. There has to be a tremendous burden on the young men to earn their way to perfection when in fact God says that no one is perfect except for Him.
ReplyDeleteAmen ! John 3:16 , salvation is for all who believe in Him, Jesus the Son of God. I see no real happiness in this family, and their belief in the religion of Joseph Smith & Brigham Young is a worship of MEN ( false prophets) alone.I am sad for the children & wives in this family who have attached themselves to Kody for their salvation and justification. But the good news is they don't need this baggage...again, John 3:16. And if anyone thinks polygamy is the way to go, just read the Old Testament regarding the men of God who lived it ( against what God would have for them ) Life for their wives & families was fraught with jealousy, back-stabbing and many dramas worthy of their own "R" rated movies -of- the -week . Thank-you for this perfectly simple and completely accurate comment.
DeleteAnon 1:25 and 5:11,
DeleteThe beauty of this blog is that we don't slam other's religion or I don't think this blog was meant to be a place where we say that Mormons are foolish. To think your beliefs are the supreme is as bad as some of those really right wing groups that start wars and imprisson others who don't believe the same: the Taliban, Hitler, the Christians during the middle ages to name a few.
I have a question. These people say they believe in Jesus Christ. Robin has a portrait of Jesus on her wall. They pray "in the name of Jesus Christ." So based on your scripture, does it even matter if they practice polygamy if they believe in Jesus Christ? Won't they be saved just for believing in Jesus?
DeleteTHANK YOU ANON!
DeleteEven though Mormonism may be different in its concepts and beliefs, we should remember that it IS the belief system for millions of people worldwide and should be treated with the same respect as we would with any other religion.
DeleteLet's move on, this conversation is now closed.
Ok ladies - I was on the road all day so just now getting a chance to read and post! I did read CJs review - kudos!!
ReplyDeleteGreat comments - lisasimms made some great points about the "custom" houses. Or as the builders website says "semi custom". Lol
Just a question...since WHEN is a freakin' patio/cement pad/whatever you want to call it - considered an "option"? Don't they just pour it the same time they pour the rest of the foundation? And even if they didn't - why isn't it standard??
God, the builders are just as scummy and opportunist as the Browns, nickel and dime-ing them. The most overpriced crapperboxes in Vegas.
I wonder if the show will feature the houses falling apart - I'm not an expert by any means but my untrained eye doesn't detect that much craftsmanship.
Builders are ridiculous when it comes to options. I built a home with KB Homes a few years ago and I swear I almost had a nervous breakdown in their design studio when they assailed us with all the options we would have to add on- almost nothing came standard. They charged us 40 dollars for a peep hole in our front door, unbelievable.
DeleteOi vey. It's like a hospital!!
DeleteMy ex can come by with his drill and install that peeper for $20.00. Lol
LOL that was funny.... Mine can do it for 10!
DeleteI think Kody found Robyn refreshing because she was more submissive than the others. But hanging around Meri is changing that part of her personality. That may be why you sense a cooling off between Kody and Robyn.
ReplyDeleteRobyn acted all submissive and needy and that was the bait that won kodturd over. In reality, I think she plays the part that she thinks will get her the most and in my family we call that being manipulative.
DeleteYou know, I was just thinking today..........about Reality TV shows of families and got to thinking about this hot mess of a farce, and the Duggar family. The Duggar family are completely self-sufficient, very financially responsible and they've instilled that trait in their children, they speak of their faith and they practice what they speak of. Their children are well-rounded, polite, down to earth and good kids. Without any kind of bank loan or mortgage, they worked as a family and paid cash for the monstrous home they all share and the siblings are quite happy to share a bedroom (whereas the special Brown children must ALL have their own rooms, la tee da). The children really seem to respect one another and their parents. They seem very caring and the family gives a lot of their time and help to their community. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are committed and organized, their home looks spotless and there seems to be a real genuine emphasis on family time, fellowship. Their children aren't glued to their iPhones and computers, wasting so much time on Facebook and Twitter nor are their parents (Good Lord, grow up already!). They have never used food stamps or gone on welfare. They pay cash for everything and don't finance anything. These 2 families are like night and day.
ReplyDeleteThe Duggars may be self-sufficient but they have also benefited from TLC money and fame as well. They have not raised their children to be self-sufficient. They do not want their children to attend college unless it is an internet-based diploma program. They will not let their oldest daughters leave home until they are married. They are very controlling. What appears to be a loving family has some cult-like features. It's easy to pay cash for everything when TLC is chipping in for vacations and extravagances. Check out https://twitter.com/joshduggar for their oldest's twitter account. He also has an instagram account. It's also easy to have a spotless house when you have adult daughters around to babysit and clean your house. So as much as the Browns are way dysfunctional, the Duggars can also be accused of being dysfunctional themselves in their own "Christian" way.
DeleteI much prefer the Browns to the Duggars. The Brown kids are being raised to have their own opinions, college educations, careers, options. The Duggar kids are not getting an education and the girls are being raised to be baby-making machines. I'd take an unhappy marriage any day over what the Duggars have.
DeleteSee duggarswithoutpity.blogspot.com.
Oh, the Duggars have their problems. Mostly that the adults don't really raise the little ones anymore, they are pawned off on their 'buddies' (which are the older daughters). And I am not talking a few hours a day, we are talking 24/7. The kids are given absolutely no individuality or freedom to do anything non-Duggar approved. All of the girls share one room and all the boys share one room. 20 year olds sleep with their 3 year old sisters and have no privacy whatsoever. They cannot do anything unescorted, they have no choice in their clothes/fashions. I would agree they are not on food stamps and pay in cash for everything, which is honorable and good. However, given the choice, I would rather grown up a Brown than a Duggar. And I would rather my own child have the dysfunctional Browns over the more dysfunctional Duggars. Just my opinion.
DeleteOkay, now...people keep mentioning the mess of a house that Christine has, and now we are mentioning that the Duggars are very tidy and keep a nice house...I just have to say, how am I supposed to keep up with this blog and maintain a house to the standards expected of a swb fan? ; P Let's just say that Christine (and I) have an "artistic" temperament, and leave the poor houses out of it. After all, our houses didn't ask to be messy. ; P
DeleteLike others here, I believe the Brown children will do better in the long run than most of the Duggars will. Just the fact that they are a) allowed to get an actual education, b) be exposed to and have friendships with kids outside of the family, c) speak openly about their opinions, even going so far as to say they don't want plural marriage, and d) are not expected to raise their younger siblings - all of those things are major, major factors in how a child develops. The Browns are infinitely more prepared for the real world than the Duggars based on everything I've seen on these two series.
DeleteCPA Carol,
DeleteI agree 100% with you about the Duggers. There is a system in that family that hamstrings those older girls to being full-time "mothers" to the younger children. At what point do those girls get to plan lives of their own in a normal way, instead of taking on their "parents" responsibilities? Apparently none, as long as there are smaller kids that need tending.
But in comparing them to the Browns, I wouldn't want my kids in EITHER family.
And throw in the HBB clan too. That group is yet another weird ass anomaly of a family that makes you glad to have the option to switch channels.
What's next on TLC......families raised by wolves?
Traci -messy is one thing but...broken door frames, missing dishwashers, holes in the wall etc etc is beyond messy IMO.
DeleteRemind me to hire a contractor before I have you over for dinner! Lol.
DeleteI *was* just joking around, though...I do have a forty year old house, and frankly, with just two kids (and a casy-only lifestyle), I find that the house seems to fall apart faster than I can keep it fixed up. Then again, that might be the fault of A) my recent addiction to this site or B)my "artistic" temperament. ; P
I wish I was half the housekeeper Mrs. Duggar is. Well...maybe just a tenth the housekeeper. No need to go overboard with skills as I have no interest in birthing my own city. ; P
Mrs. Duggar is not the house cleaner in that home. Her older adult daughters are. She's a good at delegating chores or "jurisdictions" as they call them. I'd much rather be a Brown kid with options than a Duggar kid with limited options. With all the money those Duggars have made from their children, you'd think those kids would have all of the advantages in the world and they don't. Their adult daughters can't even have the privacy of having their own bedroom. I mean, who knows what they might be up to if they had any privacy.
DeleteAnd I think the Duggars grandmother comes over to do laundry. A couple of the younger kids were helping her sort it.
DeleteI don't understand buying such huge houses and already worrying whether you will be able to keep it. There is no way possible they are going to be able to furnish those things, especially knowing they had to finance their blinds and washer/dryer? It's so pathetic Janelle couldn't even afford a patio, but Meri got a wet bar, 5 bedrooms and a hobby room?! Also, their kids dress like ragamuffins and their cars all look old and broken down, but yet they buy these behemoths. They may not have heat or electricity or food or decent clothes and vehicles, but at least they have those houses.
ReplyDeleteThat's what happens when you have five "children" making decisions.
DeleteI've been reading this blog for a couple of weeks now and love it! I wish I had seen it sooner! One night I was reading it in bed and was literally laughing so hard, I had to cover my face to keep from waking the hubby. Great job CJ!
ReplyDeleteI come from a large family, 6 kids. We are just regular Baptists. My mother was just fertile and was pregnant with twins 3 times. Sixteen years ago, all 5 of my siblings had a baby in the same year, so our family grew quite rapidly. We routinely spend time together and often times there are 30+ people at my house.
We have a whopping 1500 square foot home with a modest kitchen (read small) and manage to have enough room for the desserts without a wet bar. Meri is very selfish for insisting on having that. Buying those homes is a very foolish financial choice since they have no way to pay them off.
Incidentally, my husband and I both are engineers and make a nice combined income, yet we drive 13 year old cars and live in a small home. His sons are grown and we don't need a large house. I could give 2 hoots about the Jones. We want to be out of debt and don't spend our money extravagantly. A big chunk of our income goes to supporting my stepsons' college and now their weddings. The Browns are fiscally irresponsible and are being very shortsighted in planning for their children's future.
What happens when Kody and the wives "pass on"? Does Mariah get Meri's house and the other kids split their own mother's house!?
ReplyDeleteHow many wives does everyone think Kody will really end up with? I think he'll try to find at least one more (he won't be surpassed or out done by Meri's dad...who had five correct? is that a special number to these quacks too? three gets you a planet or god status)
ReplyDeleteI think he'll wait until after the show is finally cancelled to recruit one more loon to the bunch. The Browns will sell (foreclose?) on the houses. If they're lucky enough to sell them and bank some cash in the process, they'll buy some land and build a commune; maybe in NV, maybe they'll move back to UT. Kody will marry again but this time quitely, no big circus or ceremony since they won't have the TLC gravy train to exploit. I think the lucky lady (ick) will probably be another divorcee.
And what about this "re-dedication" ceremony Christine was talking about on the Secrets Revealed special? Next season we'll see they got the homes, Meri will 100% state she doesn't want more kids, and there will be no more cliff hangers...I smell a series finale.
The Browns are a step ahead of you, and their agenda is legalizing polygamy. Their lawsuit will take years, and it will keep going. Their fifteen minutes haven't even started when all of this gets going. The Browns aren't going anywhere.
DeleteMariah going to Europe after graduation? Saw this in her twitter feed. Even if this is a high school trip, it costs! Will all the Brown children get this opportunity, or is this a Meri thing only?
ReplyDeleteHere’s another one of my “this is what I think” moments:
ReplyDeleteI have only watched SW because of SWB. I want to participate in the discourse from everyone and if I don’t watch the show, I miss out on all of the subtext that everyone gets from the couch scenes. I agree with those who are of the camp that Kody loves Meri and Janelle the most. I believe he loves Meri because she was his first wife and she is able to pick up on his moods so much better than the other wives and soothe his ego. I suspect that she brought Robyn in to add spice to the show and to the family. I don’t believe Meri enjoys sharing her husband and I don’t believe she enjoys being ordinary; hence, she goes out of her way to separate herself from the others: better house and I don’t eat the way they do sort of things. Janelle is Kody’s rock; in his mind, she is the smart one. She is the one who knows stuff. He depends upon her to keep them out of hock and while she tries to keep their spending down, he responds to her much like a rebellious teen…I know, but please, can’t we just do this once please…I promise no more big spending if we can just do this. I see that relationship between the two. I suspect that were it not for the children, she would have hit the road a long time back. Her coping mechanism is to go where no man can and will go…to that place in her mind that gives the audience the view that she has checked out…she has left the building. Of all the wives, I am rooting for her and consider myself team Janelle. Christine is just pitiful. I don’t believe she is as naïve as she pretends to be and I also don’t see her happy at all. I think she flirts with other men because she comes from a lifestyle in which women can only be validated by males and only in a sexual way. Her need to the special is the key to her personality. I don’t feel special…I don’t feel we are succeeding as a family all resorts back to her place in the family. I believe that she wants to be earth and have everything revolve around her…sort of like in the house in Utah where Meri was to the right of her and Janelle to the left and there she was stuck in the middle and liking it. And Robyn is manipulative and played the poor little me submissive card and if any of you have known women who act all submissive like, you know as well as I that they are all really playing a game. That poor helpless female is really a game that women play to manipulate men. Sorry to all of you who think women need taking care of, but the truth is simple, females are the strongest gender.
But Kody…ahhh…Kody. I believe Kody is gay. I think he has struggled with his own masculinity for years and one of the reasons he has this whole polyg life style is too reinforce to his friends, family, public, and self that he is a real man. I have watched him and he is so concerned with what others think of him and loves to say the line, when I tell them wives as in four wives they look at me like you’re the man. Then he says, I feel like I’m this surfer dude or pool boy. He has all of these stereotypical images that he wants others to see him as that project masculinity, but he is as about as masculine as I am. None of his wives’ cars are taken care of and none of his wives’ houses are taken care of. Even when my husband was blind, he was all about rotating the tires on our cars and etc. I just don’t think Kody is as masculine as he tries to portray and there is nothing wrong with him being gay and being gay and hiding his urges. But, there is something wrong with marrying four women to cover up or hide who he really is and not being able to take care of those four wives and the children. He once said that I work my butt off to take care of these women and their children emotionally, physically, and…well, he doesn’t. If my mama were alive, she would say he is a poor excuse for a man.
That’s my take.
I don't understand why you think he's gay. Just because two of the things he cares most about are his hair and his four pairs of running shoes.
DeleteOh . . . never mind. LOL. ;-)
Anon 9:39 am, I also feel like you do, that Kody is gay and trying to hide it. I've said that before on here and so many felt that wasn't the case but I will always think this. You can't tell me anything that will make me think otherwise. It is so very obvious to me as I've had multiple men in my life who were gay and dealing with it in this same way (not the polygamy but being a man whore and making these statements).
DeleteKeeping in mind his HS classmates comments about their assumption that Kody was gay, as if it was a natural no-brainer to think that...
DeleteI remember watching the episode of Sol's birth when Kody made quite a fanfare of reaching down between Robin's legs and proclaiming to the camera, "I am touching the baby's head"....don't know, maybe it was me...but that had an ick factor that I can't explain.
Maybe it was Kody making it about him as usual at such a bizarre, inappropriate time...?
Maybe it was that after what?..THIRTEEN births of his other children....he shouldn't have needed to highlight what HE was doing and touching...and if he did need to...why??
To prove his manhood? To prove his paternity of yet another child?
My husband was there for all the births.
He felt no need to do any of that.
anony 12:24 - i was always with what i thought was the majority here at one time who thinks Kody is closeted and Meri, too - at least bi for her. (Maybe it's no longer a majority here when it seemed to have gotten discussed more in the past w/a lot of new peeps on board now.) Their religious beliefs re:that "sin" will forever keep them in the closet tho.
DeleteI don't think he loves Janelle or sees her as a wife or equal in any way. I think he feels like she's his mother, who takes care of all of the adult things (like money) so he can be an irresponsible child.
Delete" I think he feels like she's his mother, who takes care of all of the adult things (like money) so he can be an irresponsible child."
DeleteYou could be right !!
But good lord, what normal guy sleeps (and has kids) with his mother figure?? Ewwwe !!
There was that one episode he went to all the houses to find a drill or something, which is about all the chores you'll get out of him, male or otherwise. That makes him a sad excuse of a man, but not because he's "gay." More like he's lazy and sleeping with four women at once.
DeleteI don't see the gay vibe at all. Insulting to gay men, really.
Amused, who said Kody was normal? LOL
DeleteLOL Peanut Butter Fritos "More like he's lazy and sleeping with four women at once" + one really big ego.
Deletethere are such things as lazy gay men, too, ya know. ;')
DeleteI agree with PBF - I don't get a gay vibe or for that matter any type of sexual vibe in the least. I've always thought Kody and Meri were rather asexual, and just in it for the power trip. The wives including Meri just strike me as having incredibly low self esteem. Why else would they be in this situation?
Deletethey could be very well be observed as seemingly "asexual" since Meri's not enjoying sex w/women and Kody's not enjoying sex w/men. that could certainly do it!
Deleteand they're in this situation due to their religious beliefs. the low self-esteem is the consequence from the actual hell of firsthand living their anguished, frustrating and emotionally unhealthy polygamous lifestyle.
Something is bugging me - wasn't Kody's Lexus a convertible? Logan was shown loading a hard top car - can somebody clarify?
ReplyDeleteIt's a hard top convertible. Here's another picture of it when Kody took it on a camping trip.
DeleteREVIEW!! S03E07: July 4th Rebellion
Thanks CJ - it was bugging me - I had looked and looked and couldn't find any verification - WOW - wish my first car had been that nice - I got a two door small pickup when I started driving - and not right away either I actually had to get a job and pay for it myself.
DeletePlease and Thanks - as most of the comments are about the homes,
ReplyDeletetheir physical location and the plat, could we have semi-permanent
images of the designated lots, the floor plan as a reference??
Is ir possible to post a copy listing of all the extra perks??
It would seem that the cement pads are part of the original plans.
What are the lot sizes? Depending on the cul de sac location, sometimes the
front footage is greater than the backyard.
DeleteWhat's Happening with those Houses: Part Deux
Here's a Video (with separate floor plans) where the wives talk about the options they want.
DeleteVIDEO Sister Wives: What the Wives Want, They Get?
so, I was looking back at Kody in the room choosing carpets and such for the homes and looked at his body language. With Meri he was leaning in, appearing somewhat interested. With Janelle he was so happy she had it all taken care of he was giddy and wanted a smooch (must have been their night). With Robyn he appeared indifferent and she appeared to be nervous as if wow, I do not believe I am getting all of this and what if it ends here I come trailor park! With Christine he leans as far away in his chair without tipping over as he can get from her. He asks her to give her excess to Meri. In no way did he appear to be joking. He is a thoughtless jerk and I believe that Christine has figured it out. If it appears he and Robyn have cooled it is because Meri and Robyn probably said, LOOK HERE MISTER.People on the blog are saying Robyn here is your favorite bed partner. Now, you know I will have NONE of that, with Robyn bobbing her head up and down in forced agreement. You know, that he still sneaks over to Robbins for some afternoon delight. The nanny, not blood related, is there to peal the daughters off the legs of any man that enters the door. Takes a few women to do that because of some serious static cling. Those girls are in danger of abuse if their mother does not teach them some boundaries. They need to quit throwing their bodies over boys and wrapping their legs around them. Of course, if that is what mommy does? I can just see the Kodouche driving up, "Look girls it is our turn daddys home!! He comes through the door and mommy flings herself at him wrapping her legs around his waist saying I KNEW you couldnt wait another night for some of this!"
ReplyDeleteI do not think there is anything wrong with baby Sol. I think they get free baby clothes from a clothing store and they have to have him appear in so many scenes as advertisement. Makes sense.
I do not think there is anything wrong with baby Sol...
DeleteNeither do I. He's a baby.
I've pulled the previous comments concerning Sol.
Posting Guidelines - What to do if your comment doesn't appear
CJ, I am very glad you pulled the comments.
DeleteYes, he is just a baby, and has been only seen by the viewing public in edited clips. Not appropriate !!
I agree that it is inappropriate how the girls act! I am gla you said something because Maybe it is just me and how I was raised, I don't like seeing these girls act this way just for attention from the boys.
Deleteyeah, remember when it was Robyn's girls that were instantly clingy on to the younger brother of Kody when he first showed up at the door? and he even had to get them to finally stand back away while he was trying to interact with Truly. Robyn never once called them off of him. She doesn't appear to be teaching them any kind of personal space boundaries.
DeleteI think Robyn's girls are starved for male attention and that's why they do that.
DeleteRE: new houses/ What's happening with those houses: part deux
ReplyDeleteHas anyone noticed the highway sign in Meri's backyard? They must have gotten a reduction on the prices if 2 of the houses back up to a busy highway and another backs up to a busy thoroughfare? Christine seems to have gotten the best location...how did that happen?
maybe they thought she wasn't loud enough.
DeleteChristine seems to have gotten the best location...how did that happen
DeleteI think in the earnest money episode, Mona the real estate lady had asked the wives which lots they wanted. Meri piped up that Mariah did not want the sun shining in her room. She asked the other wives if she could have that lot and they agreed. Christine's house is closest to the gate, and Robyn's is across the street from Christine's. I'm thinking Robyn's has the best location - at least she's got an empty lot separating her from the roadway. Once the empty lot has been developed, Robyn's house and Meri's will be hidden from the roadway.
As far as being the leader of plyg pack, I think Kody bombed big time...he honestly behaves more like a needy sister wife. As much as he blames the chaos on his wives not "obeying", it's pretty clear he's a follower and not a leader. I hope when he eventually wants the AUB's permission to add a 5th wife they realize he was way over his head with just 2.
ReplyDeletemeri would have bought a 3 room camping tent if the seller said one of the rooms could be used for a 5th bedroom, 5 children making adult decisions
ReplyDeletewhy did Kody need to "supervise" the wives home selections? He needed to be there with Meri, because it is also his house - supposed both their names are on the deed.
ReplyDeleteBut the others are buying/financing, the homes themselves (unless they are all bought in their "corporations" name). If it is Christine's or Janelle's home, why does Kody have any say in what options/colors/spending they choose?
I do feel bad for Janelle, because I think, given a choice, she would have bought a sensible home she might have paid off entirely with what she spent on the 40% down payment for her new home, which I doubt she will be able to own in the clear. Simply because the show is not that interesting. It came on when Big Love was big. Now Big Love is off the air, and the Browns don't have anything interesting going on with their show. They aren't real polygamists, their lifestyle doesn't work and they are a sham of hidden bankruptcies and government assistance, jealously and spousal and kid neglect and abuse. If their original intent was to show how polygamy works, what they have proven to everyone is that it doesn't. So I don't see the show lasting more than another season or so, and then they will lose most everything, since they appear to be spending every dime as soon as it comes in with no thought of living frugally, building a modest home compound in NEvada (if they really want to live there - I think it is insane, given their former home would have supported vegetable gardens, chickens, rabbits, even goats for milk and cheese. I couldn't understand why they didn't grow/raise some of their food. But they'll never be able to do that in those new homes. There's not even a yard for the kids. Those homes are ridiculous and impractical. And they are not even attractive, neither home, appointments, or the lot, backed up to a busy, probably noisy road. Who in their right mind would want to build there? I don't think there's any chance they will be there five years from now. I do feel sorry for Janelle/Christine, because perhaps their sensible votes for their 12 children were outvoted by 3 childish adults with only two "Kody" children.
i noticed how he instantly didn't make his actions match his words after he gave his speech about how he wasn't there to make their choices but just to give them the validation and approval they need to hear re:their personal choices they made were right. then he Instantly is shown narrowing the choices of carpet down to two for Robyn to pick from! LOL and of course, he doesn't care diddly squat about the choices Christine and Janelle made so he easily stayed butted out. He was only there to "joke" w/Christine about giving Meri some $$ for her overage.
DeleteI have seen many comments about the amount of time Sol is being held by Robyn or Kody or brought along everywhere with them (mostly in a negative way). I believe babies should be held as much as possible and with their mom and Dad as much as possible, so I see nothing wrong with the way Sol is always with Robyn. I have two children and I pretty much held them 24/7 when they were little. Glad I did, they are now far too old (and big) to hold :) Only have the memories of their tiny bodies in my arms.
ReplyDeleteI think most of it is due to Robin putting Sol front and center before the camera in every shot. One I particularly remember is at the real estate office, she put him on the table, and turned him directly in front of the camera when the shot opened. Or when Kody was climbing a ladder with him as if there weren't a dozen adults and teens around to hold him while he climbed a ladder.
DeleteIt reminds me of Robin's creepy comment "when a sister wife is pregnant, it is a reminder to the others that she has a sexual relationship with their husband". Seems like she is shoving the baby in front of the camera for the same reason she constantly interrupts everyone on couch sessions. It is all me, me, me with her.
I don't think people are upset about Sol getting the attention he deserves (IMO) but upset that Kody clearly spends more time with Sol then say Truely or any of his other children. I agree with you about babies needed to be held...people say it spoils them but I hold my son all the ti,e and he still sleeps in his crib all night. Personally I feel sad for all these kids..Dads are just as important as moms and need them around way more then this plgy life offers them. Poor Truely
DeleteEmily W, I did too and I think it's great that she spends that time with Sol. I think the issue others have mentioned here is that it was not "tolerated" by Kody to have any of the other babies around like that- particularly Truly who is the most recent before Sol and obviously was not allowed around the cameras 24/7 like Sol is, possibly.
DeleteEmily W,
DeleteI loved your comment "... and I pretty much held them 23/7 when they were little. Glad I did, they are now far too old (and big) to hold :)"
They grow so fast, and we have such a little spot of time to fill them with all the love we forever hold toward them-- they are so soon off and running, then like Logan and the teen girls reaching for new dreams.
Maybe Robyn and Kody see this, so hold Sol a little closer.
Just wish we'd also see Truely more often in Kody's arms. I'm hoping its Christine's choice to keep her more out of the camera.
People keep referring to the episode in the real estate office where Robyn turned Sol to the camera. If it's the same episode I'm thinking of, it was actually Meri who did it. You have to watch closely but it was Meri. Or perhaps there's another incident that I'm forgetting where Robyn did it...?
DeleteGiven how creepy Kody is, Truely may be truely lucky not to be constantly in Kody's arms. As for Kody hanging on Sol all the time, it just looks like playing to the camera. I.E., see what a great Dad I am. From what we can see, he hardly pays any attention to the majority of his children. He seems to have no "one on one" or special relationship with any of them.
DeleteWe hear a lot of how he "struggles" to spend time with each sister wife, but does he budget his time to give each one of his children even an hour a month, much less a week, of one on one time with their dad? I sincerely doubt they get even that.
So the whole slobbering over Sol business is just, IMHO, distasteful.
I watched a documentary about the Blackmore family in Bountiful, BC Can. This guy has over 26 wives and about 100 children. Basically, time spent with their father/ husband was more like a church service but with more emphasis on praising the sick, horny bastered.
DeleteAnyway- I'm really interested to know how some of Warren Jeffs peeps were able to immigrate hear to BC? A lot of the wives are American, and all of his wives are on welfare.
BTW thanks for the blog! It's refreshing to see some SW viewers that can actually spell.
We have two posts on the Blackmore family, if you'd like to check them out:
DeleteWho is Winston Blackmore and how is he involved with Warren Jeffs and the FLDS?
http://sisterwivesblog.blogspot.com/2011/08/who-is-winston-blackmore-and-how-is-he.html
The Vancouver Sun: Will the taxwomen bring down the polygamist?
http://sisterwivesblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/vancouver-sun-will-taxwomen-bring-down.html
I watched a "special" on the Winston Blackmore group years ago. Originally, I believe that the Blackmore group was an FLDS group. But recently, Winston was ex-communicated from FLDS for not agreeing to one of Warren Jeffs more outrageous pronouncements. At that point, Winston gave his wives the choice of staying or leaving since he had be declared a persona non grata for FLDS. It looked like about half of them left the "marriage" and departed for groups of FLDS still in good standing with Jeffs. Winston has plenty of his own legal problems in Canada!
DeleteLOL In the long ago TV documentary, the first and only legal wife had divorced Winston. He had to pay child support for 8 children and swore he'd never have another legal wife!! She seemed to think she'd escaped hell and was so grateful to be living with her 8 children in town rather than on the compound!
Kody would only have to worry that a judge would give alimony if Meri decided to walk after Mariah graduates from high school! Of course, the judge would have to wonder if "you can get blood out of a stone" since it looks like every penny the Browns get is spent instantly.
After finally reading their book "Becoming Sister Wives", I believe that Kody is gay. Although he has 4 wives, he doesn't truly love any of them in a sexual way, here's why:
ReplyDeleteMeri - she was the plain and quiet girl in church. People in her own church didn't know who she was till she started dating Kody. She had a low self esteem, which gave Kody the opportunity to swoop in and date her to help establish himself in this new church. There are those on SWB who believe Meri is gay too, and that would support my theory that they hooked up for the same reasons. They liked each other as platonic best friends, and it developed into marriage because it was expected that they should marry. I believe they still love each other deeply, but only because they understand each other. Don't be fooled by the PDAs and "lover" talk, it may just be a little psychological game they play with each other.
Janelle - Kody agreed to marry her when she approached him and Meri and asked to join their family. They freely admit that their relationship is more like 2 guys being friends. Janelle says in the book that they were married for 10 years (and numerous kids) before they even explored the idea of a romantic relationship!
Christine - Kody admits that he only married her because she was after him and he figured it was inevitable. He also admitted on the show that he was more attracted to her family (being part of the AUB leadership), they to her. In fact he said he was turned off by her looks and weight. He says in the book that he married her but didn't love her "head over heels" till they were married for at least 1 year. Conclusion: she was the girl who solidified him into the community, as well as bringing a sort of truce between Meri and Janelle.
Robyn - Meri introduced him to Robyn and convinced him to take her and her children into their family. He was reluctant at first, but then agreed to marry her as part of the deal for the TV show. It also makes him feel like a "super-hero" for marrying poor robyn and becoming a dad to her children.
So although he is currently "married" and stuck with these 4 women for eternity, I don't believe he was attracted to any of them when he married them.
DeleteIn my opinion, Kody doesn't meet the grooming and dress standards usually associated with gay men. His hair is a hot mess...unstyled and greasy looking. He has no taste in clothes. He always look unkempt. He wears those awful hippie rawhide sandals. He does like garish gold watches and other expensive toys, but that's more a symptom of his trying to prove he's better than other men. Like driving a $60K Lexus sports car with 12 children and 3 wives (pre Robyn), or always bringing up he has more than one wife. Or buying 4 overpriced houses. He needs to be the center of attention. The wives, the children, the expensive toys and houses all feed his ego, telling other men "I am better than you because I have all these things!" It's not his sexuality he is overcompensating for, it's what is in his head - his id, his ego that he's trying to satisfy. And the man has crazy eyes.
I honestly do not believe Kody is gay. I don't think any of the wives are gay. I just think their religious backgrounds make them think that s*x is only for reproduction and to make it 'salacious' (one of Kody's words) is sinful. I think Kody and Meri are very much stuck in the teenager-ish mode of not knowing how to be se*ual human beings. Just because people seem 'off' does not mean they are gay - that is an insult to the gay community. Of which I am not a part of but just sayin' (Meri's word).
DeleteI agree with Kody's closet for the reasons stated. I don't feel Kody has to follow the stereotypical "gay man dress code" because we all know there are gay men who aren't like that. Anyhow, I also agree with Kody's closet about Meri being gay but am always hesitant to post about it because I have even less to back it up other than a "feeling I have". So thank you for writing it so well Kody's closet.
Delete"Janelle says in the book that they were married for 10 years (and numerous kids) before they even explored the idea of a romantic relationship!"
DeleteYes indeed, THAT is a very sad statement and I don't mean *sad* in a "boo-hoo, poor Janelle!" way.
I mean that is pretty damn sick on her part that she wanted to marry her sister-in-law's husband, King Goofy, and was willing to have sex with him for *TEN YEARS* before "exploring the idea of a romantic relationship"!!!
By then she had three, probably four, kids by him, and *then* she/they decided to get romantic...????
Who does that ??? What woman does that?
Hmmmm....let's see...how would that have gone...
"Okay, Kody, time to do the deed and get me pregnant again."
I wonder how those kids felt reading that they were conceived way before their mother and father had love for each other?
(as if they ever did, or do now)
Just another reason why I have little to no respect for these people....INCLUDING Janelle.
Amused, I completely agree with you. I firmly believe that SWB commenters give Janelle WAY too much slack. She did CHOOSE to 'marry' her sister-in-law's husband, even though she knew that he was not remotely attracted to her. Honestly, if I was Mery, I would resent her too, because what she did was backhanded and manipulative (to divorce Mery's BROTHER, to 'marry' her HUSBAND), I mean come on!
DeleteNevertheless, I like others would like to see Janelle and Christine leave this situation, but I do not believe that they ever will. Quite simply, they made their beds, and although logic says otherwise, I doubt that they will ever leave.
Also, and this is completely unrelated, but quite frankly I am tired of seeing Kody, and having every scene of every episode involve him. The show is called Sister Wives...yet, he has more screen time that all of the other Browns combined.
~NOLA
I don't think he's gay. The most obvious reason being that he clearly has/had sex women four women regularly. That's a lot of hetero sex for a gay man. Plus, I'm pretty good at detecting, and neither he nor Meri strike me as gay. But, hey, I'd love to be proven wrong. How interesting would that be? That's a whole new show!
Deleteomg! there are tens of thousands of gay men in monogamous marriages w/women! and even quite a few vice versa. some of them cheat w/gay men on the downlow and some just stifle it as an inner demon that they must never act upon. many finally do come to terms with it up the road and end up divorcing and embracing who they really are after all.
Deleteit doesn't take much research to find tons of heartache stories within the mainstream mormon church itself of all the divorces due to one or the other sex realizing and accepting they were gay after all. I, personally, know 10 mainstream mormon couples myself who went through this. Martha Beck (Oprah regular) was an active Mormon (daughter of the well-known mormon Hugh Nibley) who divorced her mormon husband as they realized after several kids that they indeed were both gay!
I have a question. Did Meri also have these empty rooms in her part of the house in Utah? I was thinking they could have easily put Robyn with her, if they were truly sister wives...That way Meri could have been a mum too. I don't understand what Meri has done with her time these past 20 years. Waiting to get pregnant? She doesn't have an education, doesnt't work, at least not full time, she doesn't help with the children in the morning, Christine and Janelle is left alone with all their children. I don't understand Meri at all. How can she live with herself? She lives the life of a mistress...
ReplyDeleteYes, in the Lehi house she had 7 bedrooms. They were reserved for the children she had in her head.
DeleteNah....she didn't have empty rooms but she did claim to have the 'tidy and clean' part of the house. Which is easier to do with make-believe kids because those kids are always tidy.
Maybe she should have busted her lazy butt to clean the ENTIRE house while Janelle earned the mortgage money for the house she financed and which provided a roof over Meri's lazy head, and Christine home schooled and baby sat.
DeleteMeri is a real jerk.
Thanks to TLC, Janelle and Christine have never been in a better financial position to leave. If they choose to stay, I won't feel sympathy for them anymore and they will be actively complicit in the further neglect of their children. They have options galore and no excuses.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 3:59PM: In Christine and maybe Janelle's eyes I don't think they have options galore. For those that truly believe their religious teachings, they "know" they can only get to heaven/their celestial planet through Kody. Hence, if they leave, they have no more options in that regard.
DeleteAlso, their children have close bonds and close relationships with many of the other children so both moms have to consider that when/if they think of leaving Kody. It's bad enough when kids are taken away from a parent due to divorce, but to pull them away from all those other kids would be very hard.
TLC money or not, Christine and Janelle both realize the TLC money will stop and do either of them really have a way to support their children? Janelle maybe, if she can get a job in her old field and has kept her skills sharp and certification current. But what about Christine? I see no way for her to support that many kids and I'm sure she feels the same.
People on the outside can always say there are options or this or that but we aren't them and cannot honestly know what choices they have.
Completely agree, Funky Town....I have stated what you have said a few times on other threads here: We can see that the wives have options, but they can't because they drank the Kool-Aid that told them if they want to go to heaven, they have to hook up with Kody, (or another man of their faith) because he is the one that will 'call' them to his planet after death...that is what they believe...to me personally, it is a cult perpetrated by egotistical controlling men, not a 'religion' or 'lifestyle'....and for the life of me, in this day and age of abundant information on the internet, books, etc, it's difficult for me to comprehend that the women cannot see through this horrible scam...but they don't, they believe it and I truly doubt any of them will leave the family....
DeleteI'm in total agreement SaDdY - I doubt any of them will leave.
DeleteMaybe, just maybe if something really bad went down like child abuse, yes, but otherwise I don't see it.
I don't believe the children are neglected or abused, and I wish people would stop referring to them that way, as it minimizes the suffering of actual abused and neglected children. Having an absent father is not the same as neglect. Janelle and Christine's children clearly have a close sibling bond and get a lot of support from each other, without Meri having to scream "THESE ARE YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS!!!". I don't think it's an accident that Janelle and Christine picked rental houses very close to each other. The fact that one of the young girls (I can't remember who) invited Logan to the father-daughter dance is so very telling. Truely may be completely ignored by Kody, but every time we see her she looks like a very happy little girl. What's really sad is the way Robyn's daughters drape themselves over Kody every time he walks in the house. They are clearly completely starved for attention of any kind, which makes me really question--if Kody is just as absent (or even less so) than with the other kids, what exactly is Robyn doing, or NOT doing, to meet their needs? Which brings me to Sol. I don't have a problem with her carrying Sol around all the time. What I think is problematic is that the attention paid to Sol is so out of proportion to the attention paid to the other children, by Kody certainly, but even by Robyn to her own existing children. We all know that Kody never treated Truely the way he treats Sol, yet Truely seems to be a perfectly happy little girl and Robyn's other children are so completely starved for attention. What's the difference? Mom. I also think it's so telling, as someone pointed out on a previous thread, that Joe Darger referred to all of his children as "my children" where Kody refers to them as "Christine's children" or "Janelle's children."
ReplyDeleteShelby - I agree, the children are not neglected or abused. I think it was selfish to uproot them from Utah the way they did, but I do believe the kids are loved by all of their parents and that their basic needs are met. Many of us have commented on how much we like the Brown kids -which I guess that means the moms (and partially Kody) have done some things right. And the kids do appear to have very tight bonds.
DeleteI disagree; the children are most certainly neglected. When a father does not pay for the food, clothing, housing, and medical care of the children he intentionally created -instead accumulating more wives and children he cannot feed or clothe or house -that is neglect. For years before TLC, taxpayers have been forced, by law, to provide for the children Kody Brown neglected. That is why child welfare laws exist, because of negligent parents such as Kody Brown.
DeleteThere's a legal difference between negligent and neglectful. Kody has absolutely been negligent with his children, but they are not neglected.
DeleteKody is mostly an absentee father in all his kids lives just due to the pure human time/energy constraints he's created w/his 4 separate families. The kids basic needs are not neglected due to their mother's presence as well as some of their older siblings time and attention to them.
Deleteonly through the unwilling participation of the taxpayers and their bilked creditors are they not neglected and hungry. Janelle provided the roof. I'd say any father who doesn't provide food and a roof for all his kids -- and there's no way he could provide health care for them all if he loses the TLC contract, but he still wants more kids, even though he has no way to provide for them -- is neglectful.
DeleteOk. I'm a long term reader and first time poster. Reading all the comments made me re-watch the saying goodbye episode. Have to agree with the earlier posts that it was really about the Kadouche's hair. Normally wouldn't comment, but did anyone else want to pull out their hair when Robin started crying while telling Meri that they would be in their homes by Christmas?! I usually make excuses for her perpetual crying cause well look at who she's surrounded by and if i had to tell my badly balding husband that his strange comb-over was hot well I'd be emotional too. But honestly, that just hit me the wrong way and I found myself actually talking to the tv and saying, "Oh give me a break". Actually fast farwarded until the waterworks stopped. I think this board is getting to me and I'm kinda liking it.:-)
ReplyDeleteI said it before and I will say it again....Looking back at the first few episodes in Season 1 and seeing what they have turned into in such a short time <> So sad....so so sad.
ReplyDeleteAs a wife to a bi-sexual man, a lot of the comments I'm reading about Kody being gay are hilarious! Gay men are like any other men. Some dress well, others not so much. Gay people don't look act or dress one particular way. There is an abundance of closeted married gay men. If you want to know what many gay men look like, look at what a married (to a female) man looks like. Yep, that's what "gay" looks like.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! The generalizations of what gay men do, dress and act like were killing me. Whether or not Kody is gay, no one is going to be able to tell by how he dresses.
DeleteAgreed. I am a woman who sleeps with a man (my husband) and consider myself straight. My dress sense? Really bad!! (But no halter tops over long sleeved shirts or jeans two sizes too small TYVM ;) I dress more like a guy than a woman but am totally straight :)
DeleteKody sends out a very strong gay vibe regardless of his choice of clothes and laziness. I thought he was gay right off the bat in first episode. My DH doesn't watch the show but happened to hone in for a few minutes a few episodes ago and said, "he's really gay tho, right?" lol
Deletewe have several gay friends. some are outwardly obvious and some are surprisingly lowkey and so not obvious and i'm well aware of the nuances within the gay culture just as i'm aware that some straight men can just have effeminate mannerisms. my money's on Kody's closeted and probably is even ignorantly disturbed at times for feeling sexual attraction towards certain men and discounts it as satan tempting him. i imagine he thinks being gay is a conscious choice and is a demon that haunts him at times.
I am a Duggar fan for sure. I think they are awesome! We raise our kids in a similiar fashion. Debt free, thrift stores, homemade food & fellowshiping, charity, etc.
ReplyDeleteBut the Duggars DID RELY ON tlc to build and furnish their home. They were unable to finish it alone.
Very true, if I recall the Duggars home was professionally decorated by a lady that came in and talked to the children and did every room...then I remember right when they were moving in a Baby Grand piano was delivered (looked new) by the way...I lost it....cha ching cha ching $$$$$$$. It has all changed for the Duggars too! Girls wear shorter skirts, wear make up...bet they have a TV now somewhere in that big house :) I must say the Duggar kids do seem happier then the Brown kids.
DeleteThe Duggar kids seem happier because they have to, probably abused if they disobey and don't keep up appearances. And before you naysayers start in, there is a discussion on freejinger regarding an episode quite edited by TLC. It's where Michelle announces she's pregnant again after all the trouble she had with Josie (her 20th, yay! The one where she subsequently miscarried). Anyway, Josiah looked quite dismayed. Then you see Jim Bob glare at him. In the next shot, edited by TLC obviously, Josiah has disappeared. Then you see him again, obviously had been crying and red faced, and rubbing his hand. He's undoubtedly been scolded and looks very hurt. Cut again, and he's standing behind Michelle, still holding his arm and red faced from obviously crying. I watched this episode and knew something was up at the time but the discussion on freejinger really lays it out for you. The Duggars are not the great family doing everything right as they appear on TV. The Brown kids are at least free and expressive.
DeleteI'm a fan of the Duggars too and my husband used to go to church with them. We also lived very near their friends, the Bates, and I actually met the mom on a number of occasions. They are both great families and I'm tired of all the hate people are spewing towards them on this site. I don't go to the Duggars without pity website because I don't want to read the nonsense people are posting there, but now it's come over here. A site which is about a TOTALLY different show/family. No, I don't agree with everything that they do, but they really are a good family and I certainly admire their financial sensibility especially when compared to the Browns.
DeleteI hope we can go back to discussing the Sister Wives show, AUB, FLDS, Mormon and other such related topics and leave the Duggars off of the Sister Wives Blog.
I hope we can go back to discussing the Sister Wives show, AUB, FLDS, Mormon and other such related topics and leave the Duggars off of the Sister Wives Blog
DeleteI'm in total agreement, Jessie. Let's get back on topic and leave honey boo boo and the duggers to their own blogs for now!!
Thanks!
OMG, I was literally going to type something like this and then I scrolled down and saw your comment. I don't know from the Duggars at all so thanks!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteI was finally able to watch this episode...
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't get that whole "I don't like you" vibe from Kody and Christine...well, except for the "I will NOT share my housing money with Meri" part.
In the past, they all seem to laugh together...and genuinely enjoy each other's company.
Am I missing something??
I do think that someone should slap Meri upside the head! A family should sacrifice together...that means that she should lick her infertility wounds (of which I personally have many) and move on with a new stage in her life. I think she should willingly and happily give some of her housing money to other wives who have more children. I think she could easily transform a bedroom into an office (we transformed our dining room into a schoolroom!).
Question: She said that she likes to entertain which is why she needed the counter space. WHO DOES SHE ENTERTAIN???? Have we EVER seen an episode where she entertains anyone besides her family???
I am soooo hoping that one day Christine and Janelle totally gang up on Meri and tell her to get a life. I hope they tell her that she is totally inept for her position as first wife. They should tell her, "Look, I'm sorry that God did not give you more children. For whatever reason, it was not in the plans for your life here on earth. Now then, let's focus on making you something MORE than a whiney, baby-craving adult...and into something beautiful and refined. Let's focus on helping you get healthy...emotionally healthy. In the meantime, allow us the privilege of raising our children with the funds that our entire family has earned. After all, my 6 kids just earned $$ amount of money on the last season. I would sure like to put that amount into their college fund, instead of paying for your extra counter space."
That's what I would like to see...anyone else??
:)
sorry, but Christine and Janelle are not emotionally healthy women either. So, it's the blind leading the blind in your scenario. They ALL need individual outside therapy. That will be pointless as their lifestyle itself is what makes them emotionally unhealthy and I don't see any of them walking away from it.
DeleteChristine and Janelle are going to have to see a therapist secretly, IMO. In the book Janelle alludes to Kody giving her flack for seeking outside help, so she stopped. The blank look in her eyes disturbs me-I think she really needs help. Hopefully, she's not self-medicating via illegal sources or found a prescription happy doctor that over-medicates his/her patients.
Delete*Speaking as someone whose anxiety and depression affected both my personal life and my ability to do my job, (and unfortunately waited for four years before getting help for it) it helps to have a healthcare professional to talk to as well as a medical professional who closely monitors the dosages you're on for any negative side-effects and ask you about any changes in your lifestyle/behavior before and after deciding to prescribe meds.*
There are low cost options in the are where I live and I hope there are some for her-so if money's tight for her (she needs to sneak a little bit out of her allowance w/o Kody or the others knowing) she can seek professional help.
Southern Girl I too would love to see Christine and Janelle buck up and take the Witch (Meri) on.
DeleteI think what I learned from this episode is that the houses were not purchased as a 'family' but rather Kody and Meri buying a house and the other wives doing their own thing. If this family was truly cohesive and REAL they would have bought affordable houses. But they didn't.
They all seemingly wanted a piece of the pie and frankly I do not blame them. It is no longer a family structure but 4 different women striving to get all they can while the gravy train chugs along.
Because if Meri gave a crap about her 'family' she would not have ended up with the most pricey home. She would have been realistic and giving, having the budget spent where needed.
But no. She focused on HERSELF. Most telling.. But then who is to deny Cody completely went along with it as indeed this would be the only house his name was deeded on.
In my opinion the other 3 wives just figured screw it, while the money is running I am going to buy into a dream I may or not be able to afford in time but for now? Heck yeah I am in.
Sad if you ask me. If they were truly a united and loving family they would be using their housing loan wisely and with something they could sustain over time.
But I guess I have some sense of survival and forethought they lack.
Anon 12:51, I agree. The real couple is Kody and Meri. They bought their house together; their credit check was together; they designed their house together. The other three wives are single women moving next door to their baby daddy. So, I'm assuming that Kody will put his money in with Meri's, and like Christine said, if I need it, Kody will help me out. WTF. Christine, you have his kids, he should be helping you out...some of his money should be paid to you, to Janelle, and to Robyn. He is, after all, legally responsible for supporting his children.
DeleteHow old are all the wives...sorry if this info is already out there.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking there will be a 5th wife someday...especially if one comes along that has funds to pump into the family unit. Kody would never pass up someone with money if she came along. Only I bet most women who were brought up in this lifestyle wouldn't have the education or a lot of money because they were taught to be wives/mothers and that's it...any thoughts??
I can see Kody getting duped into marrying a woman he thinks is rich, but turns out she was just a not too smart hustler who thought he was rich. Now that would make a good story!
Deletequestion for anyone who thinks there will be a 5th faux wife: Where will she live? This weird bunch has cried, demanded and somehow managed to all have very separate homes.
ReplyDeleteNot one of them seems able or even considers living with others. There is not an iota of sharing anything so...there's going to be enough future TLC money to but another house?
To me, they're fractured beyond repair as a "family". All the incessant boohoo fests about the rentals, then the houses tells me that should they (any of them) go belly up that there would be no warm welcome to share income or a home.
Unless the possible 5th wife comes with a fat wallet, I can't see, even the magnificent Kody, being able to persuade any of them to let the newbie bunk at "their " house.
The braintrust that is Kody Brown just outsmarted himself out of legal and financial interest in all but Meri's home. If he gets another woman, Meri will be the only one who's home is: a) large enough to have unused bedrooms - aka guestrooms; b) she's the one who picks 'em, she should be stuck with them; and c) if Kody is all gung-ho on shacking up with a new lady (and possibly her kids), he should at least be responsible for their accomodations, and since his name is on the morgage...
DeleteSorry Meri, but you brought this upon yourself!
Replying to Anon. 726 on how old the wives are: Meri is 41, Janelle is 4O, Christine is 37, and Robin is 33 i believe.
ReplyDeleteI think CJ said that Robyn is 35 now.
DeleteOops meant replying to anon 832,for the wives ages. My bad!!
ReplyDeleteI have totally been sucked in. First posted yesterday, DVR'd all the episodes this season, and now I've bought not just the Brown book but the Dargers as well. What is happening to me? Dang, I think the $5 i paid for a used book on Amazon is going to help pay for the McMansions:-(
ReplyDeleteNope, if you bought it used, they already got the money for it.....and not yours. (Jeez, I hope so , cause I bought theirs and the Dargers as well....finished them a few weeks ago....)
DeleteI feel your pain though. I hate to do anything that *might* give them money.
amazon gets a cut from 3rd party sellers selling used books but Browns do not.
DeleteI'm still waiting til I eventually come across it at a garage sale or thrift store for .50 cents or $1 .....Lol
DeleteI for one, don't believe for a second, that the Browns' home was more than $400,000. much much less. When a builder has land to build a community, the builders want to finish and move on asap. The builders will then put the costs
ReplyDeleteway, way down. Along come the Browns' and that was their exit: 4 homes so of course their homes were much less. I also can't imagine that Janelle wanted to
tile all the walls in the dining room? What a shame if she indeed did that because her resale value would definitely go down in the dumps.
Public records show differently. Can you provide proof to back up your claim that they paid less?
DeleteJanelle wanted to make her dining room into a business conference room. She did mention putting in a stain glass window, but that isn't the same as tiling walls. Christine requested tile in her dining room as well as kitchen, maybe that's what you heard?
just found yer site--love it! just a thought...I would love to see a little diagram/family tree with the names & photos of the Brown's. I get them all confused!
ReplyDeleteI just love the look Christine gave to Krody when he had the cajones to ask her, single mother of 6, to foot the bill for boss lady's wet bar. I call it "when plygs fly!"
ReplyDeleteLmBO Anon 11:09-----when plygs fly!!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteChecked twitter....I only signed up to follow the Browns, have no clue how to tweet.....saw Robyn is planning to save $$ by trying to do her own photos for MSWC. I wonder if she will have Sol modelling the jewelry??
