Discussion Page for 8/9/13 with some more Tweets

Looks like Robyn and Meri have on their sad faces, but little Truely looks like she's having fun!

I love how she's wearing her plastic headband, too!

I don't get it. If you're making $75K per episode per adult as those rumors say, why not FLY to San Francisco instead of driving. Heck, with that kind of income, why not charter a plane! And pay cash for those McMansions. What's WRONG with these people?

Oh well, at least those customers complaining about poor service on MSWC Facebook page will understand that the ladies are OUT OF TOWN and really don't care if they have customers complaining about being billed on their credit card but not receiving the merchandise. I can think of a word that might make them start to care, though...CHARGEBACK.

OK, show of SWB hands now. Who thinks this question was a plant  so Kody could advertise 3 Las Vegas hotels?

Whoa there Christine...I'm shocked, I tell you, SHOCKED!!

Well, if you were on a plane, by the time you get your peanuts and a drink, the plane will be landing. One more reason to fly vs. drive.

  1. Love your blog - but must say I am from SF and we locals absolutely cringe when someone calls it "Frisco". It is "the City" or SF or San Francisco but never ever Frisco. Well, it is probably cheaper to drive than pay air fare for that many people and that way they don't have to rent a car while they are here. Actually - given their credit problems renting a car might actually be problematic. Just saying.

    2. Frisco is actually in Texas. LOL

I call it Ess Eff or "Bagdad by the Bay" in tribute to the late great Herb Caen.

And it's only $59 (on sale) to fly from LV to SFO on Virgin America if you buy the tickets during their very frequent sales. I'm just sayin'...

      Delete
    3. They are not known for their planning skills though! Buying a ticket in advance would mean planning. I'd love to know what they went there for and I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in the car. I bet the road trip was interesting with all of them in one car.

    4. Kerouac would be disappointed... "Frisco" was the Mecca of the beats. Come on people!!!

    5. Born and raised in the East Bay. My best friend born/raised/lives in San Francisco. His nick name is Frisco and he embraces it with a passion. A lot of people my age (late twenties) refer to it as Frisco. People about my Mom's age (late 50s) seem to get very offended by the word Frisco. No idea why.

      Delete
    6. SF rolls off the tongue easier than Frisco. It reminds me too much of Crisco :)

besides, Jack Kerouac was from the east coast. I think he was merely a visitor to SF.

    7. I don't recall seeing any of the wives fly in the past. Maybe one or more are afraid of flying?

    9. Agreed, Frisco is just the young hip thing to say. FWIW- something that is referred to as a Mecca typically refers to a Pilgrimage, so it doesn't invalidate the idea just because Kerouac's character was from the East Coast.

      Delete
    10. I wasn't referring to his novels, I was referring to Kerouac himself...
The use of Frisco to refer to the city just seems awkward. I've never heard our teams being called the Frisco Giants or Frisco 49ers - most people say Ess Eff Giants. Or the Frisco Bay Area. Just sounds not right!!

To me it's Ess Eff...or the Bay Area...or the Peninsula. Lived here all my life, would not care to live anywhere else at this point in my life because we have it all :) IMO of course ;)

    11. Caramel Brownie - lol - my theory is that the Browns are living on credit. There is no way that TLC is paying them enough to support the entire bunch. How I think they do it is via corporate/business credit cards thru Brown Family Entertainment or even MSWC issued to all the adults in the fam. That might be another reason that they don't give a crap really about making a profit from MSWC, not only is it a plot device but it's also an outlet for more credit which knowing the Browns, they probably consider as "spendable cash" whenever they have an open credit line.

    12. They have flown before - we just haven't seen it on the show.

The family flew to Boston, plus they've tweeted about flying to Interview shows etc.

If you go to celebritynetworth.com and type in Kody Brown they have a networth for him. I was a little surprised by the amount. Not sure how current the info is or how they gather. It may include property as assets. Like to hear others opinions on the posted amount. Thanks :)

Wish Meri's twitter pic was in daylight so I could tell if they were headed north or south. I'm betting north--probably a zip through wine country. I'm going to tweet them and tell them to come up to Humboldt.

  3. First off, I agree with what everyone here has been saying but, I personally hope these adults get more and more seasons. I mean this blog here and all our snarky comments totally make it worth it. They may be irresponsible immature quasi bad parents (with the exception of Kody, he is a bad parent) but they're not really bad people. Their show may be boring but it's not evil like the kardashians or mind numbing like some of the network reality shows. They just need to get back to why we tuned in in the first place...
Producers: I want to see more about their crazy religion, what does a testimony feel like, how do you deal with jealously, will you consider switching to two nights in a row instead of one? Let's mix things up, make them display what their "rules" for polygamy really are. Let's get them on the couch and interview them about the uncomfortable stuff, like sex, call Kody out on having favorites etc. They have a powder keg of a concept, not like people being on TV just cause they're rich. I just don't think we should lose them like a lot of people say, this blog makes them fun :)

    1. Thank you Anon 7:20!! I totally agree.

    2. I tend to agree with wanting to see the entire train wreck run its course however I disagree with saying they aren't "bad" people. There are different types of "bad" just as there are different types of crime etc.

I don't watch the Kardashians however I wouldn't call them "evil". At least they made their own money from what I know about them, and they do have talents for self promotion AND fashion. I have a few of their pieces from their Bebe collection that I love to wear - my figure is similar to Kim's - hourglass with a bubble butt :)

TLC said from the get go that the Browns religion would not be discussed on the show, I'm betting that's an AUB mandate. Also...those interviews with the questions...there have been SEVERAL shows/specials where those questions have come up - I think last year there were 2 interview specials and at least one Q&A with fans and any time a sex question comes up Kody gets annoyed and leaves or just says he won't answer.

They might have had an interesting concept at the beginning but their ship has sailed, as each season goes by their true natures come out more and more. Kody is a lazy, narcissistic grifter, Meri is a mean, hateful, jealous bitch, and the rest of the wives go along with it while the kids struggle to find their own identity and GTFO of there.

Besides "Polygamy USA" pretty much ate the Browns' lunch on the topic. I only watch SW now because of *this blog* but PUSA was interesting and engrossing to watch, stands up to repeat viewings and I even like some of the main folks in CP quite a bit. Especially Hyrum. Mmm yum!!

      Delete
    3. i quickly fell out of love with hyrum. i read his FB page (before he closed it off publicly) and he's a douche. very immature high school acting and apparently loves to drunk post. especially about "dwarfs" ! also, i noticed he has very short legs in comp to his upper torso. i think if the real hyrum was exposed more vs. the one we're marketed, we'd be enlightened as to how sexist he really is due to his religious plyg upbringing. anyway, he's just so so luscious to me and those hammond eyebrows look like groucho marx.

I'm no more impressed w/CP style plygs than i am w/the Darger bunch nor the Browns. they're all train wrecks for the women and the majority of the men, too.

      Delete
    4. Dakota justice, i have seen the specials and you're right they do get uncomfortable when certain questions are asked but isn't that the point of the show? They are paid to reveal themselves on natl. television. And even if they covered those topics before wouldn't it be better to rehash those topics than the same old ones, houses, surrogacy etc.
As for polygamy usa yes it is interesting but the creep factor is so high. I know that makes good tv but sometimes i'd rather have an affable bunch of lazy idiots like the Browns than a perverted old man fest.
And while the Kardashians have spun themselves into stardom, I would think it's much easier for them to have help for their self promotion and their fashion since they started off rich in the first place. I only say they're "evil" because I believe they are part of the influence that makes kids (teens) so materialistic and vain. Unlike the Browns, who could possibly be influenced by them lol.
Oh yeah and p.s. Hyrum is cute! :)

      Delete
    5. Problem is that even if the producers would craft a show with pointed questions for the Browns, they will not answer candidly or even truthfully. They *always* dodge the real questions...or they give an answer that dilutes the question.

Whatever the original pitch was the show four years ago, Sister Wives is now a class B soap opera. May as well throw it in with all the "Housewives of.." shows. Only without the glamour and glitz.

SWB is what makes SisterWives entertaining !!!

      Delete
    6. No one watches this show yo see women who hate each ither try to sell ugly joolery or wring their hands over their McMansions. The two things that make their situation interesting are the religion and the sex. They are also the two things they refuse to discuss. The only thing the show has going for it is this blog. They should be paying CJ for keeping them on the air.

    3. You know, what I find interesting is that a lot of her "Who I Am" pins have shades of Buddhism philosophy. I wonder if she's moving away from her religion and into a more "spiritual," less defined point of view. I'm sure this wouldn't be aired, or even admitted to the sister wives, if true.

    4. I think Robyn has a lot of "spiritual" sayings in her pins because she heard them when she went to yoga. Not because she understands any of it.

    5. I also checked out the Pinterest page, I saw the same ones, and thought about the same thing. However there are a few that are closer to Pagan and made me go "HHmmmm..."

ITunes also carries Sister Wives at $2.99/episode.

  7. My question is with all the running Douchey McBaggerson has to do between all FOUR WIVES' houses, and all thw "work" he claimed he had to do in the last episode, when does he have the time to formulate an opinion on which hotels are best in Vegas. I live in a fairly large city and have yet to stay in a hotel in my own town. And I certainly wouldn't stay in one if I had FOUR WIVES that each had their own house I could stay at and visit my running shoes. Could it be that he is taking potential No. 5 to different Vegas hotels while pretending to be at one of his FOUR WIVES' homes? Nah. A Brown would never be dishonest.

Ok so..... Kody Brown was under investigation in Utah for bigamy through cohabitation. Now each wife is living in a different house. so, is it no longer cohabitation???? where does kody's mail go to.... Meri's? They could've saved alot of money just by building 4 houses in Utah. 2 years rent for 4 houses, traveling costs.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Cohabitation meant he didn't sleep with Meri five nights a week. It doesn't matter if you live in the same apartment complex or have four separate house. Kody did not live with Meri to exclusion of others but carried on a multiple year affair producing children to the agreement of all invovled. Nevada doesn't have such laws on the books because they didn't have polygamists like Utah and Arizona. The law was written in Utah to be more specific than a group having more than one official marriage certificate or residing under the same roof.

      Delete
    2. he wasn't even under investigation to begin with. they just talked about maybe doing it, on TV. *rolleyes*

If anything they probably were investigating welfare fraud. Unless there's underage marriages, welfare fraud, or abuse going on, Utah could really care less about plygs. Witness the Dargers who are openly living in Utah just like A LOT OF POLYGAMISTS.

One wonders if the plygs in the year 2040 will still be talking about how shit-scared they are about being arrested and reference their great-great-great grandparents. it would be akin to a black American being scared to walk on the streets in the Southern US for fear of being forced into slavery because that's what happened in the 1800s. jeez.

    3. I lived in Vegas last year. I had favorite hotels too and I never stayed at any of them. South Point has a great Buffet and drink specials. It also has an indoor equestrian arena which had great events. PBR finals, Budweiser Clydesdales. South Point is also where they had a Christmas Expo that the Browns attended. The Silverton has a Bass Pro Shop attached to it and a huge aquarium with women dressed as mermaids inside. Red Rock is over closer to where they live and has a great concert venue. They had Luke Bryan perform for $29 buck tickets. As a Vegas local I can absolutely see why he picked the ones he did. As far as why he said it maybe just honest truth or maybe he hopes to get something in return??

    4. Many hotels rent conference rooms. Maybe some of these rooms are appropriate for LIV meetings.

  12. So Janelle tweeted this morning that she was "traveling for work for a few days." Interesting. I didn't realize real estate agents needed to travel to San Francisco for work when they are licensed in Nevada...

Also, I think Robyn needs a t-shirt design on Christine's cafe press page. It should say, "Basically," because we are all idiots and need her to dumb everything down for us. Please say I am not the only one that notices this and is annoyed to death by the overuse (and incorrect use) of the word!

    1. Seriously, CJ was joking. Like CJ said, it's a rumor floating around. Frankly, if they were making that kind of income, that hospital collection agency wouldn't have had to put that lien against Robyn's new house, right?

      Delete
    2. They might make that as a family per episode. Divided by 4 (though I assume probably by 5 because Kody thinks he deserves a fair share) it is a lot but still not enough to actually pay for the mortgage, bills, kids etc

      Delete
    3. Even $75k for the entire fam sounds like a lot. The Gosselins got bigger ratings and according to Jon the most they ever got was $22,500 per episode (for the ENTIRE family).

and yeah i know...the Gosselins eps were 30 minutes while the Browns are an hour, but an hour of WHAT? a lot of flashbacks, and teasers that amount to nothing. I only watched a few Gosselin eps, but I don't recall them having as much...filler and nothingness.

  16. So, what is the deal with Logan? I really like that kid. He's respectful and mature beyond his years and has always seemed to be super involved with the family. What do you all think? Is he going to end up being a polygamist?
    -J

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think Logan will become a polygamist. Logan seems very rational and easy going. Polygamy is expensive to take care of multiple wife and children. Plus the jealousy he probably has seen his mothers disagree. In my opinion Robyn is Kody's favorite wife followed by Mari. Janelle Logan's mom deserves more help and time with Kody. Anyway that is my guess but who knows maybe Logan will follow in Kody's footsteps and marry multiple wives upbringing runs deep. What do you think?

      Delete
    2. I agree, I don't think he will either. I think he had a huge desire to please his family, but now that he is out and experiencing a normal, college kids life, he won't buy what Kody is selling.

      -J

      Delete
    3. Logan seems to enjoy his individuality away from the family, so Id say no, he isn't going to be a polygamist. I think he would have said yes or no by now. I like Logan too, he's very handsome by the way. From what we saw in the last episode, he is distancing himself a bit from the family, as far as getting his own freedom and space. I think he loves his family dearly but I don't think this life is what he wants, Maddie as well.

      Delete
    4. Logan refuses to say he won't be a polygamist, only that he is not thinking of marriage at all at this time. Which means he's dating & probably sexually active. Fine, normal for his age. But you know this thing will stay with him and when he does get married, he will always know if he feels unfulfilled or bored in some way, hey maybe another wife is the answer. He will regard that thought as a 'calling' because he's been indoctrinated to that choice and that lifestyle. His family will continue to encourage him to choose that to validate their choices. If he marries a completely non-mormon woman who would never go along with his sudden revelation that he needs another sexual partner (if you can actually believe all the LDS doctrines, you would be 99% more likely to fall for the FLDS doctrines), then maybe he would stay traditionally monogamous. Which by the way, I don't think works for everyone - especially given people's longer lifespans - but there are other lifestyles to accommodate those desires that do not involve having 20 children you cannot afford and the world does not need.

      Delete
    5. I have a feeling that the family is heavily dependent on Logan's choice. The other kids seem to look up to him and idolize him. If they can snare Logan into their warped world then they have a much better chance of snaring more of the brood. If Logan walks and doesn't make the choices they want, then more of the kids may take his lead.

I think it's all about getting #1 to follow to help the younger ones along.

There was a scene in a past season when Janelle was fretting over thinking that she didn't push her believes more firmly onto Logan and she was afraid that he would make the "wrong" choice.

I hope he can see the light in college and save himself!

      Delete
    6. The feeling that I got from Logan is that he is REALLY enjoying college....that he probably has not run into any girls that are into that arrangement. I also feel that Logan has a great HEART...he thinks of others and their feelings....I don't think he would want to see someone that he loves be heart broken if he was to have a roaming eye.

  17. That lien is such a clue as to the depth of robyns credit and past marriage issues. The lien was placed 6 months from the time the house closed. If robyn was working with a credit repair company all along..this should not have happened. Something is wird because robyn stated she took on all the debt to "keep peace" but she obviously has custody..her ex has not uttered a peep. So the bill from the hospital is in both her and her ex name. I think is was something lingering from her past and the minute she had an asset she got nailed with the lien. No payment arrangement no nothing to prevent it..maybe the ex was supposed to be making payments because robyn got so much of their past debt paid off, and he dropped the ball, and the hospital went after the only one with a nickle to rub together.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Remember how that credit repair company and the attorney who was supposed to help Robyn by settling with her creditors? I wonder if the fact this lien showed up six months after she got the house was some kind of payment arrangement. What I mean is, the hospital collection company probably had no idea she was now back in Las Vegas as Robyn Sullivan instead of Robyn Jessop until they were contacted by the credit repair company. Then they realized she is THE Robyn Sullivan-Brown of Sister Wives show. They demand full payment, she knew she couldn't pay the bill but she asked them to wait (most likely for the TLC money to come in). The hospital collection got tired of waiting so bam!! on goes the lien to make sure they get their money.

I personally think the credit shyster guy (the attorney didn't do anything) just kind of put a band-aid on the credit problem, to make it *go away* until they got into the houses - maybe have her make an earnest money payment to get them off her back (temporarily). but then of course, in typical Brown style, she just kind of went who gives a shit and let it lapse again. I wonder what their credit score actually is - 250? 300? lower???

      Delete
    3. also, i think it's all done by Social Security numbers, so it probably wouldn't matter which name she was under, they could track her down that way, quite easily. more than likely (I'm not in the collection business so don't quote me!).

      Delete
    4. Well, I've evaluated many a consumer credit file in my past, and yes, the credit bureau report will reflect if there are different names associated with the same social security number. In fact, it's considered a "red flag".

And yes, I think that's all those credit repair places do - they put a bandaid on your problem and charge you a premium for the "privilege". You don't need a credit repair company to contact your creditors to settle. You can do it yourself, for FREE.

      Delete
    5. So that fact that she is changing her name AGAIN...has got to be throwing up flags.

I don't know anything about changing your name, but do you have to give a reason?

      hmmmm...."spiritual marriage"....far out!

      Delete
    6. If you check into the credit repair scam with a reputable financial advisor or teacher, they will tell you there is no such thing. These people charge you a fee but they really cannot do a thing. They best way to repair credit is to pay your bills on time and over time. If that happens, that is the credit repair.

    1. This brings up a point that I wonder about. Given the accessibility of public records about the cost of their houses, liens, etc., does it strike anyone else as strange that the Browns don't seem to know (or maybe they just don't care) that we all look askance at them because of their illogical lives?

"We're not sure we'll be able to move into our houses because we haven't yet qualified for the loans." (But they don't get real jobs, hoping the joolry sales will pick up.)

"We're all about family." (But Meri has to have a 3,000+ square foot house all to herself.)

"We believe in this lifestyle, because God told us so." (But they are not shown worshiping either in a church or family setting, and there's no mention of God's leading in their decision-making.)

"Love should be multiplied, not divided." (But it looks Kody takes half of his love and attention - that should be directed towards Christine and Janelle - and reapportions it all to Meri and Robyn.)

They just don't seem to realize that between this blog and other information openly available on the internet, no one is wondering whether they got into the houses by Christmas . . . or any of the other wacky "plots" that are shown on the show. It's all old news. This "will they or won't they plot line is beginning to be really silly.

      Delete
    2. I have to disagree - ALL of Kody's love and attention should be focused on his one legal wife and his concubines should find their own men. Kody's a selfish narcissist but the women are enablers.

      Delete
    3. I also thought it was strange.

I mean, they are living this "lifestyle" BECAUSE of their religion...because it is our Right in America to have freedom of religion...is that why????

Then for goodness sake, showing your audience a little of what your "show" is about is not going to impose on your sacred religion. At least on Polygamy USA they show the family all sitting down and having a prayer. The kids ACTUALLY look like they know how to sit and say prayer and listen attentively--as if they did it every day OR at least a couple of time a week.

You would have thought that when the Browns all gathered in Jenelle's house for the first dinner, it would have been nice for them to stop for a moment and say a prayer and thank God for being blessed in getting one of the houses. I don't think we want to see them pray before EVERY meal or before they go to bed at night, but at appropriate moments of the show would probably be nice.

  19. In West Virginia, if you meet income guidelines, you can get a medical card to pay for hospital expenses. I wonder if they have this in Utah and if so why she didn't take advantage of it. Then she wouldn't have a hospital bill. When I was in college I had a medical card for a short time that paid for prenatal care and the birth of my daughter. Now that I work and have insurance, I have a $600 hospital bill for my son's surgery. That's what you get for working, I guess :/

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I suspect this is a more recent bill, because it's the hospital in Las Vegas. They've had way too much income (from TLC) since arriving in Las Vegas to qualify for medical assistance.

It's just odd that they keep talking about cleaning up Robyn's old credit issues, but she writes checks like crazy, without showing any signs of economizing. And now it looks like they're creating all new issues.

Watching all of them in action reminds me of the old cartoon of a woman who says, "I can't be out of money . . . I still have checks left!"

      Delete
    2. When you look at the info on the lien, it was originally under the name of David and Robyn Jessop. Also her step-father(Paul Sullivan) lives in Las Vegas. I think this was a bill incurred before her marriage to Kody and most likely while she was either visiting or living with her step-father.

      Delete
    3. I knew it was in David and Robyn's names, and figured it was one of the older kids, because both parents are named. You may be right about the timing, but hospitals have gotten better about their billings, so if it happened right after they got to Vegas, there would still be enough time for this to have gone to arbitration and a lien assessed against the house. Wonder if there's also a lien against David's trailer (if he owns or is buying it). Either way, if she had $5,000 to plop down to get the land bought, she should have paid this older obligation first. Medical bills are a higher priority than purchasing a McMansion you can't afford.

      Delete
    4. If the the bill was incurred aftger she was married to Kody and living in Las Vegas, then I say she doesn't have any excuse to not have paid it because she had the TLC income. She deserves to suffer the consequences of her bad decision. If the bill was incurred when she was still married to Jessop, when they were visiting Las Vegas, I'll assume one of the kids had some sort of emergency, because why else would you go to a hospital when you were visiting someone, and then she is a little less culpable for the bill, in my eyes.

      Delete
    5. You need to remember....Robyn is NOT married to Kody If any of her children (with David) needed medical assistance at a hospital EVEN if it was after she moved to Vegas with the gang, I would think that both Robyn and David would still be responsible for that child's medical bills.

Now if you are telling me that the kids REAL father has given up complete parentage to the children completely and Robyn is the sole parent of these kids...then different story.

      But I doubt it.

  21. So for tomorrow night's episode I was thinking of playing the equivalent of the "drinking game" but with chocolate. I'm gonna get a big bag of M & M's and everytime I hear certain phrases I'm gonna pop candy in my mouth. Maybe I'll get through the whole bag. What do you think everyone? What should the trigger words or phrases be?

    1. Part of me loves this idea . . . but I'm on a diet and we don't allow M&Ms n the house right now. Watching one episode this way could easily undo WEEKS of hard work.

      But IF I were playing:

      "wet bar"
      "iconic"
      "plyg"
      Any mention of Kody's hair
Anytime they show him in the car with the top down
Any shot of the new houses

"Christmas"... I think you have to eat an entire handful if they say the whole phrase... "It's really important that we get into these houses before Christmas" (One would think that wound lead to weight gain, but if I hear that phrase one more time I'm going to throw up, so maybe that will negate it. ;))

"Blessing"... as in Robyn's constant pronouncement of "I see this business is a blessing". Could also be said in reference to children.

      "IVF" or "Surrogate"

      "Plural"

Mention Kodpiece's hair: 30 air punches (like you mean it)
Somebody cries: 10 pushups (per crier, but just need to finish by end of show)

  25. Just read 1samuel 1 and it talked about how Elkinah was married to two wives, Penninah and Hannah but loved Hannah more. This as clearly shown in his actions toward her. Even though Penninah had several children , she was only given a portion of goods for her and the children while Hannah could not conceive, she was given twice as much goods than Penninah. This created jealousy and pain between the wives and is really quite sad. The story also goes on to say that after worshipping in the temple that afternoon, he went home and "knew" Hannah as if To say he desired her more.

Actions are very telling and I know I would most certainly respond out of pain and anger watching my husband adore and love another wife while I was being rejected or if I was just considered to be an obligatory. While, I don't hate these women, I do think they are so far indoctrinated with false doctrine ( my belief) which God had intended to show us human error and the toll it can take when we decide we know better than God.

  26. I realize people are discussing the upcoming show, but I wonder if anyone can give me the backgraound on how Robyn got in to the whole picture. Don't the wives have a "vote" on a new wife in the family.
I can only understand why Kody(has the hots for the favorite wife) and Meri(needed another selfish wife to side with her and be grateful to her) want her in the family.
Anyone notice the amount of soothing required of needy Robyn and Meri? I have never heard Robyn apologize to ANYONE. She came in to the family in a selfish way with the wedding/honeymoon and has stayed this way. I ALMOST can't watch Janelle and Christine deal with the other three(Kody,Robyn, Meri).

    1. I know... the best episode will be when either Janelle or Christine's head explodes all over Meri's wet bar! I don't know how they put up with it...

    2. If I remember correctly, Meri spotted her first and pointed her out to Kody. I think once she convinced herself that Robyn could be a valuable ally against the other two, she felt the "testimony" that adding her in was God's will.

R&K were already dating and planning marriage when the show started, but the producers made it seem like Kody was just starting to "court" her, and then proposed.

Then the whole fiasco of all the women wedding gown shopping together, when Robyn did NOT buy anything. Then the infamous couch scene where Kody boasted that he picked out the dress, and Christine got up and walked off. She apparently refused to do any more filming for several days. And Kody STILL doesn't "get it." Why should she be upset, just because he spent her entire pregnancy "dating" someone younger and thinner?

There are SO MANY things that Kody doesn't "get" . . . aren't there?

      Delete
    3. IMO Meri brought Robyn into the family to punish Christine for getting pregnant with Truly. I believe she really thought she was done with Kody's other babies entering HER world.
This polygamous marriage might of had half a chance of being a little more like the Dargers and the CP bunch, if Meri hadn't sabotaged it every step of the way. She has systematically and intently tried to undermine, and destroy Janelle and Christine. Janelle at some point put her foot down. Im guessing that when Janelle returned after leaving (due to Meri's abuse) she made it well known that she will never put up with Meri's abuse again.
Christine's personality is to try to be better always, and didn't see what Meri was up to behind her back, as much as Janelle did.
Kody is blind to what Meri is doing. He is a seal and she is his trainer. She has trained him to balance a ball on his nose.

They remind me of 5 year olds, where when one says something, another one pipes up with, "Me too, me too."
So if the clip of Janelle gets repeated where she says she thinks about leaving, then Christine will say that too.
If Meri is tweeting about "lover" and happiness, then Sobbin will too.

Grow up, girls, which is it? You all have your kids watching how you operate.
Give them something to emulate. You owe them that much.

    2. I saw that on Radar too and almost barfed...she actually believes she was being a bad wife. No Christine, you have a bad and irresponsible boyfriend...end of story. It's really sad how polygamy strips these women of self-worth.

    3. Christine thinks she was being a bad sister wife meaning she was not helping the other wives. Christine please hear me. You are the best of them with Janelle a close second. But Meri and Robyn - pleeeeease - they are soooooo self centered and bratty. Stop apologizing - it is time for Meri and Robyn to start.

      Delete
  28. Of course Robyn is happy. She went from having no man and no money to a quarter of a man and the TLC gravy train.

Christine was replaced as newest concubine with a third of a man to a discarded mistress with a quarter of a man and a thinner slice of the financial resources. She also got a whiny new sister wife to put up with and a load of guilt for not liking the newbie.

Robyn realizes a net gain in quality of life, Christine only loses.

Of course this was similar to what happened to Janelle and Meri when Christine entered the mix. I wonder how considerate of their feelings she was.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Christine was never able to fully vent and discuss her issues with Kody. He just assumed Christine would suck it up and go along with another wife because she was already living the lifestyle and grew up with the religion. Meri aired her jealousy issue on tv and we never saw christine have the kind of conversation with kody that meri did. It was swept under the rug because kody dosnt like confrontation. If kody had been patient and understanding with christine instead of blowing off her concerns maybe christine might not have suffered so much. In watching past episodes it seems meri and robyn and kody had the las vegas move a done deal in their mind, but didnt really consult christine or bring her along verbally. Kody did not handle this well at all..im im still aggravated all the wives took of in vehicles for the vegas move with bald tires and cars full of kids.

    2. And this is exactly why I believe that polygamy, even the soft-core version like Kodyworld and the Dargers, does not/cannot work. Cannot work *for the women.*

Each "wife" is an individual with individual expression and reaction styles. Each woman will often be plagued with jealously and resentment. It HAS to happen in that world. These Plyg harem masters do not have degrees in counseling, and even if they did, they would not be objective. They do not want to deal with an angry, hurt or disillusioned wife. That's not in the game plan.
      You know..love should be multiplied.

I'm certainly NOT defending Kody or offering a pass for his chronic indifference. I just don't think he is capable of handling *anything* that requires insight and logic.
He is an empty suit...make that empty jeans and rumpled shirt. He brings nothing to the table for these women and their emotional needs.
He's great as a labor coach, though, isn't he?

I doubt any of these plyg guys lose any sleep over which wife is emotionally struggling at any given time and why. It is a terrible way to live, and only the women can change it.
No plyg master is going to change that dynamic.

Even in Big Love, when push came to shove, Bill held a hard line about giving in to the wives. But because it was Hollywood, the scripts made him look and sound wise and caring...to a point.

  34. Never really understood the reaction to polygamy as being "creepy." It's a different choice than monogamy, but its not that rare in the world and in history and really not that strange. Could be a nice division of labor, actually. (Seems Christine isn't cut out for working out of the home; Janelle is certainly more of a working woman as, quite honestly, is Meri. Robyn seems to be trying to find her footing.

As people, they are flawed like most of us.
    Meri - self-centered and short-sighted
Janelle - grounded, held back by her low self-esteem
    Christine - short attention span
    Robyn - unformed

(And, BTW, a "testimony" is the process of expressing belief; it doesn't "feel" like something other than how your faith, if you have one, feels to you.)

    1. I think what makes it creepy isn't necessarily anything the Browns do but how other sects behave. Just the general idea of older men "courting" younger women in their prime fertile time. It comes off as lecherous and predatory.

      Delete
    2. I used the word "testimony" because the Browns have used it. According to mormon.org, one definition is, "A testimony is a spiritual witness given to an individual by the Holy Ghost." That's the definition that fits how they have used the word. I've heard both Meri and Kody say that they were given a testimony that Robyn was to join the family.

I used to be in a church where Wednesday night was prayer meeting and testimony time. I've given many testimonies regarding my faith ... but I've never been given one by the Holy Ghost.

  35. I couldn't have said it better myself Gossip Magee. The "creep factor" comes from the idea of female children being forced to marry older men. It comes from the idea of males being discarded when they become competition for the young ladies. Kody's style of polygamy does not set off this type of "creep factor." However, when one looks at the emotional lives of the women, there is a sadness that shows. The "creep factor" for these characters comes from the financial shennanigans that they have carried out for years.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think the factor I am finding most interesting is how living separate lives in separate homes has affected their view of the family unit they have created.

(As for "testimony" - these people are not LDS nor are they RLDS. They call themselves "fundamentalist" Mormons. Not sure I'd think Mormon.org will necessarily apply. One of the reasons I left the LDS church was because I tend to think in a Deist fashion, and the idea of the Holy Ghost giving me direction as to my testimony and my then speaking it aloud didn't quite work.)

  37. Also, I'd like to see more of the Darger family - a polygamist style of living that actually is more in line with the Pre-Snow Manifesto end of polygamy by the LDS church (so that Utah could become a state.)

Design a logo; make it discrete; design around the logo; diversity your offerings (scarves, yoga bags, far less expensive jewelry, etc). Free shipping is a big plus. Stop squabbling about it being a hobby. 39. When the show first started, the premise was to show the viewing public how polygamy "multiplies love" rather than dividing it. Mary spoke of how there are at times feelings of jealousy, but overcoming those feelings makes them better people.
In the beginning Mary and Janelle, as well as Kody I believe, had jobs outside the home. Christine was a stay-at-home Mom looking after the childrens' needs. They all lived under one roof, and the show was (in my opinion) to be a platform to show the viewers that polygamy indeed works. It was meant as a way to inform and educate the general public on how these relationships can make for a more united family unit. As well, it was to show us how these 3 women mother all of the children as though each were their own flesh.

This is what I tuned in for. To be enlightened, educated, and perhaps become more open-minded to alternative lifestyles. I for one, would have been so happy to see how this lifestyle has benefitted each of them, and to see how they are raising all of these children to be happy, productive, well adjusted members of society. I wanted to be able to say, "Meh, it may not work for me but it obviously works for them, and all the power to them for it."

This show has veered so far off course that it is nowhere in the realm of what the original intentions were to be.

We see Mary as indeed having NOT worked through her jealousy and is a very bitter, nasty, snarky, passive aggressive woman. Robyn, if she was so happy then why is it that all we see is her crying? And Janelle and Christine, well I simply feel bad for them. Out of their own misguided beliefs, they are living the lives of single women, raising oodles of children without the assistance of a father, a financial provider, sisterwives physical and emotional support, etc. etc. etc. It's pretty pathetic that the older siblings need to play father to the younger ones. Lastly, if they want to live this way, fine but they should at the very least be financially independent - uh, meaning away from the assistance of the government. (I say uh in case Robyn is trying to read and understand this, I want her to be able to sound out everything so I tried not to use too many big words... As well all know when the going gets tough, well they all throw their hands in the air and give up)...

I find the whole situation to be very disturbing. I have quit watching the show
and I will only tune in once the implosion starts. Sounds mean? Perhaps but I would like them to stand on their own two feet. Support eachother financially, emotionally, etc. Show the love for once! And as long as they are narcissitic, materialistic, self serving, pathetic role models for their children I will not encourage their lifestyle by being one more viewer tabulated for their ratings. I pray this show gets dropped after this season. Only then will being a spectator into their lives be interesting. Get jobs a**holes! Like the rest of the population. Get off your fat a**es and do something productive with your lives for once. And lose the grifter, everyone owes me attitude.
