Discussion Page for 8/13/13 for S06Ep04 Odd Wife Out plus TLC Video: Sister Wives Support

Here's a new video from TLC of Christine getting the keys to her McMansion. You can also watch Robyn say those immortal words about monogamist women.

Well, at least she didn't say monogamist women were condemning their daughters and granddaughters to be harlots in the streets like another polygamist we met this year!

And is it just me or has F8F's production "values" on this TLC film clip dropped? No introduction with the clip name and fancy background, just BOOM...the clip starts with Robyn in mid-sentence!!

>>Sob<< Are they telling the audience they no longer care? >>choke...sob...sob<<

  1. Regarding the commercial for next weeks show... What do you think Robin's gift to Kody is? He said he had never been so surprised. Could she be pregnant?

    1. Robyn already said what it was in the last show. No she is not pregnant.

    2. Its house documents with the name Robyn "Brown" on it instead of the last name Sullivan. The overall surprise for Kody is the name change. She's "officially" a "Brown.

      Delete
    3. Robyn's house is still under the name Sullivan. It's just her legal documents to show Kody she changed her last name to Brown. And when she loses her house, she will leave Kody for the next rich plyg (look out Centennial Park) and she will change her name again.

      Delete
    4. Changing her name would have meant another investigation for the closing and loan work and a delay in moving in.

  2. From the last page.

I do no think it is unusual for a parent to wear the child's sports team or activity. I think it shows support. I know Kody is an advocate of wrestling as well because it is on the chopping block at the next olympics. I have seen him tweet several tweets in regards to petitioning for it not to be cut. This hits home for me as well because many family members were active in wrestling. I think he is also wearing the wrestling jacket to get the word out.

  3. So, I noticed how they didn't make much of a big deal regarding Christine's stone exterior. In fact, they didn't mention it at all! I was sure that they would acknowledge it considering how determined & excited she was last season about getting that added to her house. And than they completely left it out. I re-watched a few times trying to get a glimpse of that damn stone exterior that would make her house stand out & become so different from the others! In the end, all I saw was a small strip of what looked like dark colored bricks in the front of the house. A small little area. Was that it? I was just confident Christine would point it out because that's all she really seemed to care about. Other than the overall house of course. I was left disappointed.

I wondered about the stone too. I wanted to see it and I thought it sounded nice.

    2. I'm sure there are more important things for Cristine, unlike Meri and her Wet bar.

      Delete
    3. She probably really did have to give it up so Queen Meri could have her wet bar and French doors, and sobbin could have her ridiculous patio slab.

      Delete
    4. I don't know. It was pretty important last season. To the point where she wasn't sharing ANY of her extra money because she wanted it so badly! Not that I would share a dime with Meri. She may not have thrown a fit for it in the way Meri did for that wet bar, but she did make kind of a big for her the stone.

    5. *big deal for her stone*

    6. I thought for sure in later videos, or pics posted somewhere, I in fact did see stone on one vertical wall, close to the front door, on her house. I even commented on it here, on this blog. So possibly the stone came to be put on later, after move in? I will have to go back and see where I saw the front of her house. I thought it was in the previews that On Demand offered before the new season began.

    7. They didn't mention it, but they did show it. Since Christine was the one who opted for exterior stone, I simply assumed the house with the exterior stone was Christine's. I thought it looked nice.

  4. Those infamous Robyn words about monogamous women never being able to understand the "gifts" of polygamy. Give me a break! It's like the dumbest person in the word giving you a pitying look. What an idiot. Don't cry for us women in monogamous marriages, honey. We are doing just fine.

    1. I totally agree. If a plyg wife feels sorry for me because I have my husband's total attention, my children were raised by him, my grandchildren do not have multiple grandmothers and I don't have vindictive passive agressive women trying to either push buttons or get her fair share of what she feels is the equal divide, then plyg wives, let me say you go ahead and feel sorry for me. It is I who feels sorry for you: 1) you have one man running between four women--sharing viruses--sharing bacterias--sharing love that is not multiplied but severely divided; 2) you are essentially a single parent who has a man come in every four days to take a dip in the pond; 3) your children have a part time, non custodial parent who enters their lives every few days; your sisterwives play games with you, your children, and your babydaddy; 4) my husband and I committed to each other to work and support each other financially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically and we do so with 100% of our attention; and 5) I never wake up in the middle of the night alone in bed facing the reality that the man I love is in the arms of another woman. So, plyg ladies, don't cry for me and don't feel sorry for me...I am completely happy and my husband and I are completely committed to each other.

    3. The only 'gift' I can see in polygamy is that you have A LOT of relatives. I would think of that as a gift, since I have absolutely no relatives left on my side of the family, and my husand and his only sibling do not get along too well.... If I were in a polygamist relationship, I would be even LONELIER! Not seeing my husband for DAYS? My 2 children have had 'problems' growing up, I would not need FURTHER problems by having them ostrasized because I was in an illegal relationship. and Oh,yeah, unless I was number 1, I would be an Unwed mother, and most likely on gov't assistance.. another way to make my kids AND ME, FEEL LIKE SH.. crap. I know the days he is not with me, I would be thinking of what he is doing with numbers 1,2, and 3 and unlike what Robin and alot of other polygamist women think, MOST MEN do not CHEAT ON THEIR WIVES!

      Delete
    4. The problem with writing in all caps is the over emphasis of certain words. For example, the sentence MOST MEN do not CHEAT ON THEIR WIVES. What most people see are the words MOST MEN CHEAT ON THEIR WIVES.

Which is not the meaning you intended.

      Just saying....

    8. I agree Annon 4:46. I thought her comment came off as quite judgmental. Especially considering how much SHE hates to be judged.

I used to think she was just pitiful and naive, but now I think she is dumb. I also think she attempts to be manipulative. She is becoming very transparent in that area.

  6. So, on Christine's first night in the new house, Robyn couldn't have traded her night? What a giver she is as a sister wife! JERK!! Kody should have said he was staying with Christine and the kids.

    Replies
    1. Regarding the where is Dayton question.....I could have sworn I heard Robyn refer to him as David. She was talking about the kids not seeing the house yet and having to go to their bio dad's for Christmas. It was quick, but I think she said David, Aurora and Breanna. I rewound it twice to listen. I wonder if anyone else caught that? I know Robyn speaks kinda funny, so maybe that is what I heard.

    2. Why is robyn a jerk? It was already said she and Kody were taking her children to be with their father.

      Delete
    3. I couldn't agree more. Why couldn't Meri drive with her instead? So Christine and her six kids don't get to have 'dad' spend the first night in their new home? What about Christine's excitement? What about her having to deal with the chaos and the kids moving that first night. Truely is little! Kody already said he was tired, so it wasn't like he should have been driving anyway. Robyn should have had someone else go with her.

      Delete
    4. This didn't bother me so much. It would have been a busy, chaotic night anyway and it wasn't even clear to me that they "slept" in the house that night. They got the keys very late in the day and were surprised by it, so it's not like they had a truck ready to pull up and unload their stuff. I thought it was nice that he drove Robyn and my impression is he would have done the same for any of the wives.

      Delete
    5. After all of these seasons, it is clear that the K-man would not do that for any of the wives. It is clear that some of the wives more often acquiesce to the demands of the other wives - and that is the husband's expectation.

  7. My prediction: Meri the decorator surprises LOVER with his very own man cave in her house of many rooms. She'll hit the consignment store for a cozy comfy sectional and get him his very own flatscreen TV and a mini fridge. It will be a room with a walk-in closet so Kody can keep his spare running shoes and sweatshirts at her place! Because she can, she's got the spare dough!

  8. To Dakota who left the comment about Christine being, in a sense, fake and passive aggressive - you so nailed it!! I still do not feel sorry for her. She is just getting what is inevitable. I don't see how one man can spread himself that thin between so many women and children. She is getting what comes with polygamy, of which she is the world's biggest advocate, lest we forget. Like Dakota said, her world is upside down unless she knows she's the apple of Kody's eye. In a monogamist marriage, I get that, but in this one, she better settle for that quarter of an apple or get out. There's no way each wife gets to be the whole apple (sorry for the cheesy analogy).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Don't forget Christine always wanting to be a third wife. That's a magic number because a man only needs a minimum of 3 wives to get into the highest level in the afterlife. I would think most men know that and would only add a 4th wife if they could afford it. (for example the Dargers) Never in a million years did she think Kody would go for a 4th. She was supposed to be the last and most favorite. If she hadn't miscarried she would have 7 children to Janelle's 6 and Meri's 1. She would remain the apple of Kody's eye. But it didn't work out that way, Kody surprised her by finding a 4th and now she's sad. Her only consolation will be knowing the same thing will happen to Robyn when Kody marries his 5th. And those houses can easily hold 2 wives and their spawn with a little remodeling.

      Delete
    2. Remember, Christine always wnated to be the 3rd wife. In her world, the third wife is often the last. Polygamists need three wives to have their own planet. She thought she would join the group and then never have to suffer the idnignity of sharing with a "new young wife." I like Christine, but I think her world turned on end. She is passive agressive. Whe wanted to have the polygamy on her terms, not the other way around. She may never get over this. I believe that her talk of leaving was recent. I think she nearly left the family aftger Robin arrived and they moved to LV.

Agreed that Christine is getting a taste of what it is like to be the replaced wife. She is also getting a taste of what happens to most polygamous women once they are no longer fertile-they're basically put out to pasture. She was the biggest proponent of polygamy before Sobbin came along and took her tiara so in a sense I don't feel sorry for her. This is what polygamy is.

However, I also know she was raised in this lifestyle and has never known differently. She also was treated much better by Kody before she was replaced. He treats her like crap now and I can't help but feel sorry for her. You can tell she is struggling and feels trapped. How much must it suck to be pregnant with your sixth child and have a younger, thinner woman taking your place? Then to see it all on t.v. later? Not to mention she left her home, friends, family, and culture with the move to Vegas. On top of dealing with six kids on her own. I just want to give this woman a hug and tell her to get out but I know she wouldn't listen.

  9. Why can't Robin drive her own kids to their father? Instead of Kody leaving his kids on what is probably their Xmas vacation? Why is it always more important for him to spend time with Sobbin than his own biological children, who need him?

Oh, I get it. It's because he's never given a damn about the kids. Only his latest fertile squeeze. Pathetic loser. And poor kids who must see how little their needs rate in their so called father's eyes. Though I rate a father as supporting his kids. He has never even been able to buy them food, a roof over their heads, safe tires for their mother's cars. But he can buy himself man toys.

Couldn't they have flown or taken a train? That would have been safer. It was selfish that Kody left the rest of family during their move to go with her. They probably had a fun time just them and Sol pretending that they were the happy little family.

From what I've read about the Jessops in Pinesdale, I don't think so. Even Robyn described her ex's family as being prominent in the polygamy hierarchy. And don't forget, Robyn's ex is Christine's cousin. So his lineage includes Allred and Jessop.

It wouldn't surprise me if Kody stayed in the motel with Sol while Robyn dropped her kids off.

  10. Lately the show has been kinda boring and I must say that I actually felt happy for them, in a bizarre sort of a way. I mean, the last season has been kinda stuck in one place and I am glad that at least now they moved on somewhere and did not talk about SWC for too long! Seriously, who actually buys that jewellery? I checked it out and wouldn't pay for such overpriced stuff. Well anyway... I have been reading your blog for quite a while now and I absolutely love it! 11. People keep pointing out that Dayton's real name is David, and acting as if there is something wrong with him having a nickname rather than being called by his true first name. I think "Dayton" is probably a nickname made of a combination of Dayton's first and middle names. I don't see it as a big mystery. I can see how someone named David Preston might end up being called Dayton, especially because he is named after his father, and "juniors" often get a nickname to avoid confusion.

    1. I have always wondered if Dayton was a nickname - it makes sense with his two given names. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who wondered!

    2. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe I read somewhere on this board that Day-uhn's name was changed because Kody didn't want a child named after Robyn's ex. Even if it wasn't said, it certainly fits with Sergeant Hair Club's ego.

      Delete
    3. Anon 11:21 - Some things said on this board are documented as facts, but most are opinions and hypothesis based on watching a few minutes of edited film a few weeks out of the year. I don't think anyone from the family has ever addressed Dayton's name on the show or in an interview.

      Delete
    4. Anon 11:29 - I stand firmly corrected and did not mean to present this scenario as fact. That being said, I can certainly see this being the case, given Kody's initial "ick factor" to Robyn being divorced. I happen to believe that doing his version of raising a child named for another man would give him a bigger ick factor than the George Thorogood song, "Get a Haircut and Get a Real Job."

Here's the thing, we don't know what he wants to be called because we are just hearing from Robyn about all these things and she is not that credible. I have also known many Davids in my time, and not once has one ever gone by Dayton, just Dave as a nickname or Davey when young.

Too Beautiful to Cook, you make very valid point. As plausible as the Kody ick-factor theory is, from what we know (and think) of him, Robyn does have that habit of leaving letter out or just pronouncing them in her own special way. I can totally see David Preston Jr. evolving to Dayton (and even then she can't say it without skipping letters). As for it being an unusual nickname, it works as a contraction and, from what I've read, Utahans have a reputation for coming up with unique names. It would also mean they weren't messing with a special-needs 10 year-old's name when he already had the challenges of joining a huge noisy family to deal with (and being told to call another man 'dad').

I'm not making this up, he's actually called Robert. Check out his twitter account and some Season One exclusives on TLC. Maybe Dayton couldn't say his name when he was little, like Her Majesty the Queen, who to this day signs letters to friends with 'Lilibet'. Who knows. 13. Meri, so smug when she thought she'd have her house before Janelle and Christine, got in dead last...oh, I was absolutely SWIMMING in schadenfreude.

I think Christine would make a fantastic elementary school teacher.

Despite my hatred for the dragged-out, trumped up house drama, I felt a little happy for them (or maybe it was just the afterglow of seeing Meri getting whacked with the old karma's-a-bitch stick).

The houses are huge, which is great if you have 6 kids and a part-time booty call. But other than the beautiful stainless appliances, I find them incredibly ugly. They are cavernous, character-less, beige boxes. They are more attractive on the outside than on the inside. For the price tag, I think they should have gotten more. I've looked at photos of LV real estate in that price range, and I think these homes are plain jane fugly.

I'm glad Kody drove Robyn to deliver the kids to their father. It would have been cold to expect her to make a 1800+ mile roundtrip through remote country in winter weather conditions. So...every once in a while a glimmer of normal common sense. NOT THAT I THINK KODY WOULD HAVE DONE THIS FOR ANY OF THE OTHER WIVES.

Robyn, you certainly seem to think you have all of us monogomous women figured out. The flaw in your logic is that you think those who point out problems are doing so because they are ignorant. Could be that those of us not raised in polygamy have a tad bit more OBJECTIVITY than you have. Or maybe we're just blinded by the pleasure of our husband's body heat under the covers every night of the week?

    1. I thought the same thing about the houses. They're nice but they all have unspectacular interiors. Nothing inside looks high end. The fireplace Meri was fixated with being 1/123665 off is plain as day and the pendant lights she felt were hung unevenly had just standard, boring white glass shades. Nothing beautiful there. The backsplash above the counters is the inexpensive 4-inch granite, too, and most of the granite and the cabinets are very similar (except for Robyn's, who is "too pretty" to even be in the kitchen let alone pull anything out of those cabinets).

Was I seeing things but aren't Christine's and Janelle's kitchens smaller than the women with fewer (and in the case of Meri, almost no) children? Seemed to me that the more practical women with the big families got screwed yet again.

      Delete
    2. I think Christine and Janelle's kitchens appear smaller because of the options they choose. I don't think either of them chose the "hobby room" and wet bar options.

I think the interiors look nice and they were smart to choose basic, neutral options. It will make resale easier. I am not a fan of their brown carpet choices, but given how dirty the carpets looked in their Utah house and the rentals, it was probably very smart.

Anyway, my total comment about the Brown family is that I, personally, don't feel a man can "love" all four women the same. Let's be honest.....most people (men and women) are attracted to physical fitness and a good looking face. I don't see that in all four wives. I guess "variety is the spice of life" for Kody. I'm sure he has affection for them, but as far as the bedroom, I'm not so convinced he likes to crawl into the sack with all of them in an "equal" way....know what I mean?

    1. I watch house flipping shows on various stations. One of the houses looked like a regular suburb house outside but they found the basement had a lot of flimsy 'walls' of cardboard, very thin boards, or sheets partitioning rows of bunk beds. Polygamist house.

The worst thing I ever heard Janelle say (and I like her more than the others) was her insistence that nobody needs their own room. Her view was that children, teenagers, and young adults are either sleeping or interacting with siblings. Period, end of story. No need for privacy. Those living arrangements only work for extroverts. Gawd help any introverts in that oversized clan. It all looks like a nightmare lifestyle to me...

      Delete
    2. I agree with Janelle and think it was the most practical thing looking at their budgets. Also, I think kids today get too much handed to them too early and start life thinking they "deserve" too much. I always remember Bill Cosby's line on an episode of the The Cosby Show when one of the kids says something about "We're rich..." - he doesn't skip a beat before saying, "No, your mother and I are rich. You don't have anything yet." It's good to learn to share and helps you appreciate being on your own once you get there. Sharing space was hard for me as a kid (big introvert here!), but I'm glad I had to do it and there were lots of good things about it.

Which is why Sobbin's son must have gone through absolute hell trying to adjust to (or to avoid) the Brown horde. Poor kid's Aspergers puts introvert to its extreme. He must struggle every day in that environment with all the chaos and noise.

I agree with Janelle. I'm a huge introvert, as is my sister. We shared a room until I was 15. Then we moved to a house where we had our own rooms with a connecting door -- which we left open for at least a year until we got used to being alone! Kids in large families usually don't have their own rooms. You don't see a lot of ordinary houses with 6 or 7 bedrooms. Kids 'needing' their own room is a pretty recent concept. Siblings have been sharing space for millenia.

I have "Sisters and Sister-in-laws" who are there for me when I need them, to watch my kids, to go out and have fun, to shop with, to talk to and even to cook with! In fact I have some very good friends that would do all those too.

Sometimes with my very close friends or sisters, I can talk about some intimate subjects and get some advise or give advise and not feel funny.

At the end of the day and EVERY day I will change and slide into bed and snuggle with my husband and when we do get intimate....I don't have to wonder...hmmmmm does he touch her the way he touches me. What a horrible thought.

So I think I have EVEN more benefits of being monogamist.

I'm thinking genitalia are not a determining factor in Heaven. Most non-Mormon scholars agree that there will be no marital status in Heaven. And I have yet to find any Biblical basis for populating planets. I don't need someone who is delusional to interpret scriptures for me.

No aged grandparents, no young children - pretty sure most people who die of old age don't want to be existing as an old person, even if only in appearance, forEVER. Myself, I'm thinking energy, but if souls are going to have human appearance, I'm betting everyone is 30.

I'll look forward to seeing you there! :)

In the posted video, and ALL the time it seems. One of the wives is saying something heartfelt. Christine was really sharing and pouring it all out. And then good old Robyn has to chime in and say something extraordinarily stupid that SHE thinks is on the same subject. She can't just sit there and allow another wife to share, she has to a.) get in the last word and b.) attempt to upstage them.

If she were in my conversation I would soooo shut that down. There would be no passive about it, it would just be all out aggressive.

She is an attention hog, and lately she is a sound bite hog. I want to hear from Christine and Janelle. They are the ones who make sense, and they are the two who are really and truly vested in the family.

When Christine jumped from the car and almost knocked Kody backwards, well, I knew her joy and was so happy for her. She didn't make a big deal about the "stone" on the front of the house because in the end, it was the house that was a big deal, not the little details that Meri seems to be obsessing over.

One of them knew everything there was to know about everything, and felt it was her obligation to save the rest of us the trouble of finishing our own sentences, since she knew what we were going to say, and she could say it better. Needless to say, this annoyed me (and others).

One day at lunch, she butted into something I was saying and talked over me. I looked at her and said, "That's amazing, Denise. That's almost exactly what I would have said if I'd been given the courtesy of finishing my own sentence."

    3. Well, its clear which sister wife you favor. Sorry, but I think Christine is just as full of it as Robyn. She's just as passive to Robyn like Meri is with everyone else. As far as her "stone" or whatever, she probably did make a big deal like Meri and the footage probably ended up on the cutting room floor. Her air time when she got her keys only lasted a few seconds because Kody had to leave. I'm sick of Christine's act and the fact that people buy into it.

    4. @AZChristian - Will have to remember that one!!

Actually, I like Janelle the best. She is sensible and wants everything to work. She wants to believe. However, her non confrontational style is her greatest downfall. She needs to pick her fights and get down and dirty. Plain and simple, she needs to stand up for herself and her family. From what I have seen (and read in their book) she suffers from depression. I have been there myself and it's tough to not just disappear into yourself and make due, just to survive the day. She is very fortunate for her first born, Logan. He is a very responsible man and I think he has been carrying a lot of weight in the absence of a father.

As for Christine, well, I don't favor her, per say, but I think I can understand her, as a mother myself. The more I read about Mormons and their religion the more I realize that it's more than faith, it's all or nothing. The modern Mormon church resembles the Catholic Church of a thousand years ago, a very controlling force. There is no part time Mormon. They have to believe in things that have absolutely no physical proof. In the Bible we have the actual land and sea that is talked about, we have scientists and archeologists that have mapped the ancient landscape. In Egypt, Greece, Rome, South America, even back to Babylonia we have ruins of the ancient civilization. We have scholars who decipher old writing and piece together the past.

Meri's house: I think she will be in by Christmas they are just going for the "drama"

Have you noticed how all these rental homes are thrashed they do not take care of property if they get back their deposits I will be shocked. You can't blame just the kids when Christine was doing the walk through of her house she threw open the front door and it hit the wall.

I didn't notice when they showed the back of the homes is it one big back yard or are they fenced in. I'm so creeped out with Kody slinking to each house at least he could go through the backyard but will probably go through the front since he likes to draw attention to himself.

I remember back in the day watching a soap opera. The actress laid down on the bed with her shoes off and she had the filthiest feet I'd ever seen. I talked to my mother about it and all she said was - the floors of the tv stage are filthy and if you walk barefoot on them your feet get really dirty, too.

That was enough to satisfy my 10 year old mind.

Now almost 50 years later, I'm confronted by Janelle's feet. 1) they're not nearly as dirty as that actress (whose feet looked literally caked in black) and 2)I figured Janelle must walk around without her shoes a lot.

Which could be another reason why she didn't want tile in her hallway.

      Delete

My apt that I've lived in since ohhh 1998 has hardwood floors (they aren't in the greatest condition, but still). almost all of the apts I've lived in the past (since 1982) have had carpet and I've HATED it. I LOVE having hard floors - rugs are so cheap and it's easy to change the look of a room just by putting down a new rug from Overstock or Ikea. I can't believe that anyone in their right mind would opt for carpet throughout their house. for $450k in LV, I'd expect hardwood.

I am not sure if I am seeing things wrong, but it looked like the cabinets were a dark wood door with white particle board/MDF inside. It reminded me of something that I had when I lived in apartments, and not something that I would expect in a half a million dollar home. I like Christine and Janelle out of all of the wives, and I suspect maybe she had to opt for cheaper cabinets to stay within her budget, but this is one thing that I would not skimp on in a house.

    1. You saw it exactly right- that WAS white particle board composite (or whatever they call it). I mentioned to Mister Sister today that I actually got up and looked in the kitchen cabinets in my apartment and guess what? The wood finish on the outside MATCHED the finish on the inside. And to have dark wood with that white on the inside...what the hell? I would be raising all kind of hell over that if they expect me to spend $450,000. No wonder there aren't any glass doors on the kitchen cabinets...how embarrassing would that be to see mismatched wood like that?

I don't know what kind of cheap that builder gave the Browns, but I have a feeling they used the same cheap stuff that was in the model home shown a couple of seasons ago. Carpet, tile, granite all cheap. I'm surprised there weren't any of those cardboard appliances, tv sets and computers you see in models instead of the real stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if that fireplace Meri was complaining about being crooked was fake too!

I just can't imagine anyone in their right mind paying $450,000 for those houses. Unbelieveably stupid on the Browns part. Don't get me started on the lack of back splashes!

Like Upton Sinclair said - everything made of shoddy. But the Browns don't know any better, they don't educate themselves - they just think it costs more so therefore it's automatically better. Ignorant.

The wife on Selling Las Vegas would have been having a heart attack and had those cabinets ripped out and replaced pronto!

      Delete
    4. CJ, I agree with you 100%. If I were spending that kind of money on a house I dang well better have high quality cabinets that matched on the inside!

But one thing to understand about Las Vegas is the housing builders will try and get away with using cheap material on expensive homes. I live in a housing community in the southwest part of Las Vegas that has expensive homes and the house my husband and I are currently renting has cheap doors, cabinets, and drawers yet the home is valued at $300,000, and it's only a 1 story, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home! We've already had to replace a drawer in the master bathroom because the front part broke off, a drawer in the kitchen because the front part cracked and broke off, the guest bathroom door because it cracked and split on the bottom and the sliding door on the laundry area because the door broke and came off its track. When that happened, I was actually closing it and if my husband hasn't reacted as fast as he did it would've fell on top of me and seriously injured me. The light colored linoleum in the kitchen and bathrooms is starting to discolor and peel up on the edges and the carpet (ugh, I hate carpet!) is cheap and light beige so we have to have the carpets professionally cleaned every few months. All this on a house that's only about 10 years old!

My mother in law, who owns a house in the same community (she bought it brand new 12 years ago) and is worth about $50,000 more than ours, her roman tub in the master bathroom upstairs actually caused the floor to dip from the weight of the water (my MIL loves baths), which left a huge, water stained crack twice the size of the tub on the ceiling right below it downstairs. That should not have happened.

Now, I'm not saying all houses are like this out here, but sadly, it's what can happen when builders are trying to build as many houses as fast as they can and make as much profit as they can. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if the Browns start having similar issues with these homes within a year.

      Delete
    5. Yes, this something right out of Sinclair's Jungle. Why else would the documentation be dead last and all the custom design work first???

      Delete
    6. Dealing with the Phoenix housing market, which is just like the one in Vegas, as housing EXPLODED, the quality went down. We just bought a house that went for $700k back in 2003, and it is shocking what is not in the home - no back splash in the kitchen, some of the lighting fixtures. We didn't pay nearly that much, but it shows where quality had been sacrificed for the almighty buck. We do have travertine floors throughout most of the house, which for $450k, I am shocked that the Brown homes do not include this. Major greed ruled in this part of the country, on the part of developers and cities. Even the McMansions up the street from me aren't being built with the high quality features for which this particular builder is known. So I agree with Alicia 100% - lots of shoddy work in these parts! And, many of the same builders!

Kody basically has no relationship with his kids. How can he when he is busy shagging his new wife and driving her kids to other states? It is apparent that Janelle's kids and even some of Christine's feel neglected by their dad.

In the cases of the more super culty groups like Warren Jeffs etc, ALL the money is turned over to the church and then the church decides the use of that money.

I was wondering, maybe the Browns moved to Vegas to leave their church behind? Maybe they didn't want the church to demand a part of the TLC money or even feel obligated to give? They seemed to talk about their beliefs a lot, and being church based. Yet in Vegas they are now "independent" and so they do not have a church to govern them.

I think these women are going to start to find it strange to be in their home knowing that Kody is right next door having dinner (or sex), being able to see the various kids choose which house they want to go to and when, which wife wants to go out to lunch with which other wife when, etc.

Its like they are separate yet close. With the rentals, they were separate, but not really close enough that the kids could just walk outside and go next door. So each little home was more independent from the others.

I just think this new arrangement is going to stir up some interesting dynamics.

I think the kids are frankly going to have a blast having this entire cul-de-sac all to themselves....

Meri's tweets a few months ago were nothing if deranged. Meri deleted Janelle and Robyn from her twitter, then she added them back. Janelle found her long lost wedding ring. Meri refused to go to a race and support someone in the family but Grody, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn all played nice and went. 34. Greetings, All!

I watched the last two episodes, the only two I've seen of this show, and I am now obsessed. The entire situation is bonkers! I feel compelled to share my first comment. I found this blog after google searching the show, and I am highly entertained by all your comments! Mine will not be as fine a contribution, but, like I said, I am driven to speak my mind.

I just...I don't get it! Witch-faced Robyn is an awful bitch, which is not a word I have often used in my life, but the most suitable one I can think of for her. If she were clever, bright (or, let's be honest, merely NOT astoundingly dumb and dull), talented, nurturing, or even remotely pretty, perhaps I could understand why Kody brought her into the family. Well, he's an egotistical dunce, so I guess that explains that. He just wanted those +2's, or Victoria's secret push up bra, or whatever those are.

Did you see the way Robyn shooed Truely away during gift-opening time? THAT is the reason for my harsh assessment.

Janelle, I don't know why she's there. She's beautiful, articulate, educated, and her voice is uniquely captivating (supposedly Cleopatra's beauty and charm).

Christine, I understand the reason she's there, even though she, like Janelle, is way too good for all that nonsense. She truely (haha) believes she must live polygamy to be saved, enter heaven, etc.

Meri, I understand the reason, too. She appears to thrive on creating discomfort and throwing tantrums. She finds fulfillment in the marriage since she doesn't have imagination enough to think of a different reality, one in which she actually does become a better person (refer to her show intro line) instead of finding ways to control and manipulate while sitting on her first wife throne.

Okay, all done with my tirade.

The only reason I think they brought in Sobbin was to get the reality show deal. The only thing is, it backfired on the wives because Kody seems to really like having a new sex toy.

The way she shooed Truely off was interesting. She let her guard down for one moment and showed the world who she truly is. She is not a nice person. Things are gonna get ugly when things between her and Meri go south, and they will. If her and Kody ever break up, she will accuse him of any abuse under the sun. The Browns better watch out. They brought this woman in to use her for ratings, but she is like the trained circus animal who snaps and attacks its trainer.

I mean, how hard is it to slap a label on a bubble mailer, stuff the ring or whatever in it, and leave it for the mailman to pick up -- like they say on TV, they do the picking up, and if they are using priority mail, the shipping materials are free. I haven't looked at the closet (have no interest in overpriced icons) but it seems like they hardly have enough sales that sobbin couldn't manage to do that in an hour or two of work a day...

Oh, just wanted to add, I thought it was so ridiculous that, as Sobbin is having Kody drive her 1800 miles so her kids can see their bio father (why doesn't the bio father come and get them?) and taking Kody away from his own biological children who almost never see him, she is patting herself on the back and telling us tearfully why giving Christine twenty minutes of Kody's time before they leave is sacrificing for her fellow sister wife. I really wish someone would smack that selfish whiner when she gets all sanctimonious, particularly when she is doing something that once again, lets Kody ignore his family responsibilities to go away with her. Guess Christine should have been SOOO grateful he actually left Sobbin for a few minutes to be there when Truly was born. Truly hasn't seen much of him since. I can't think of a scene where she looks at him with any recognition.

I kind of think they don't have the inventory to send it out either...

If one of the wives actually slapped Sobbin, it would be the highest rated show ever on TLC. Sobbin isn't gonna know what sacrificing time with Kody for a sister wife is until she has been replaced too.

I can't wrap my head around why she needed Kody to drive her to drop her kids off. Notice how you never see any of the other Brown kids really socializing with Sobbin or talking her up anymore.

      Delete
    3. Usually in custody agreements it's the custodial parent's responsibility to deliver the children to the other parent. So Sobbin would have had to pay for each child's plane ticket (and risk them going alone or paying for another one for her), or make the drive. It sucks, but the drive was probably the more financially responsible option. And who would want to do a drive that long alone? This was one of the only moves that actually made sense to me.

      Delete
    4. That many hours driving. She is running a business. Time costs money. Do you know how cheap it costs to fly in and out of Vegas? Gas would cost more. Again why do two of them spend time with dad? I wonder if he was married twice? That could be the secret.

      Delete
    5. Worse than dragging Kody along (because really, is he even missed at this point?) why did she have to stick that poor baby in the car and drag him all the way to Montana and back? It's really hard for a baby to sit in a car for hours and hours on end. Couldn't one of the sister wives watched him for a couple days? I thought that showed a lot more selfishness than whatever reasons she came up with for making Kody come along.

      Delete
    6. Dayton/David may not be willing/able to fly without an adult. Moreover, it might be a difficult drive for Robyn alone with him, his sisters, and baby Sol.

    7. Robyn has said before that her first marriage was abusive and my guess is that she doesn't feel she can be alone with her first husband.

*I* think that if you leave a truly, TRULY abusive situation your next move isn't to go on television and show off pictures of where you live...

I think Kody needed to go along so she could flaunt her new situation to her ex-inlaws.

    8. Christine must be steamed-when she asked to see her family, Kody told her to save her grocery money for the trip! Also, the 1800 mile trip might be a way for Robyn to spend more time with Kody away from the other wives.

  36. Finally got to re-watch the episode on amazon. I watched where people say Robbyn slapped Truly on hand and found she looked as if she tried to catch Truly on the hand but Truly danced away. It was not a slap of any kind and just a very large family with children all over. I liked this episode better then any and see the family glue. Christine is lovely, Meri was happy for others on couch portion, Janelle was ecstatic and grateful, Ms. Robbyn was really happy when she was with Kody alone. There I said something positive about all the wives!

Robbyn did not understand that she would not get Kody to herself as she lived as a monogamous wife before. When she was monogamous she did not receive a free mansion without work. She only probably began working as a nurse aide after her divorce and none of that was prosperous. So, us monogamous ladies, from her experience, do not prosper. Well, I may never own a mansion, but my house title is my own, paid for 100% and does not belong to the bank. I have worked hard for my family, my $$$ and love my husband 100% and he loves me back 100% of the time. I guess I can understand her monogamous relationship was just so horrible at the time that she must not have been loving it much in her fancy Victoria Secrets panties. Hmmmm... possibly a little left out there. They may have up graded their double wide if she was not running up credit accounts at VC over 1,000 dollars when she could have bought some at the dollar store for like $7 a package of 6. Clothing and accessories seem very important. They need a PR consultant to tell this woman it is better to smile and nod her head before opening her mouth and speaking.

Kody should have stayed at home with Christine in her house her first night. She is always so giving with accepting that he wanted to take off with his latest squeeze. 10:1 they stayed the night at a hotel because he was so tired... (secretly happy Janelle kept him busy!)

Cant wait for next weeks story! I hope there is a new season shortly after this because it has not covered a whole lot of ground so far. Really stretched out a few weeks of their lives in 4 segments.

    1. I wonder how the children will deal with the limits on Kodi's time once they are all living on the cul-de-sac. If Kodi is at Janelle's for the night, and one of Christine's kids has something they want to share with him that happened at school that day, will that child be able to run over and tell him? Or will the child need to wait until its "Kodi's night" at Christine's house?

Who will decide when the kids can see Kodi? Will it be Kodi? (doubtful). Will it be the wife whose house Kodi is at? Will it be the mother of the child?

I think that this issue would prove challenging for the kids.

When they all lived in the same house, it wouldn't be too big of a deal for a kid to run from room to room, and see Kodi wherever he happened to be.

When they lived in separate houses, the kids couldn't easily go to the other houses, so they had to accept that they couldn't see him when they wanted.

But now with separate houses but so close together (and also on a cul-de-sac where there is no traffic to deal with, so the kids can run freely around that entire area), I am sure it would be hard for a child to understand why they have to stay in their own house some times, when they know their siblings and dad are 100 feet away (in another house).

    2. This comment is a bit off topic for this thread but I went over to Wikipedia looking up Sister Wives. Hadn't realized there have been 55 episodes already and probably nearly 60 by the end of this season. There has been tons of speculation as to the Brown's income, expenses, etc so I did some quick math using the figures of 75K (saw that on some site as the listing for per/episode pay) and 50K which is more in line with the max folks on this site believe they could be getting for each of 60 shows. So, they could have received between 3 and 4.5 million over the last 4 years. Someone wrote in saying they figured that expenses per household in the McMansions would run about 8K/month which adds up to a little less than $400,00/year--all leaving the coffers. LOL The big difference between The Beverly Hillbillies and the Browns is that the hillbillies continued to live like they had in Kentucky only in a big house while the Browns spend like oil Sheiks in 4 big houses. New cars, new houses, etc., etc. and Jenelle gets a mattress and box springs for a year's worth of special occasions? Puh-leeze!!

    3. The point of the houses was so the kids could run freely between them. Why would they be restricted to going to play with their siblings or seeing their Dad. I HIGHLY doubt that they will say you can't go over and play/see him

      Delete
    4. I honestly doubt that will be a problem where janelle and Christine are concerned. Those two have always seemed the most true to the lifestyle. I wouldn't be surprised if their kids move back and forth between their homes, and are allowed to come see their dad if they want to. I also wouldn't be surprised if Christine and janelle begin doing their bu shopping together once again. They really seemed capable of working together and finding a balance with one another.

Meri, definitely not. I can 100% see her telling a kid to go away that it isn't their turn with kody, and then she will have him all to herself.

And Robyn, she wants nothing to do with anyone else's kids anyway, and hardly seems to car for her olde children. So I really suspect she will tell kids to go away, if not pawn her older three off on someone else so that she has time alone with kody and sol.

Well, since they all have been living there for the last eight months, whatever the new system is for the kids it is already well in place.
And if the last eight months of transition to cuddle-sec living has been difficult for the kids, it's already well after the fact. They have already spent winter, spring, and summer in the McMansions.

  45. My question about the wives living next door addresses the neighborly boundaries. We know there's a wall or fence (fences make good neighbors), but will the children be allowed in every wifes' yard; likewise, will the children be allowed to enter each house unannounced, uninvited, and without knocking? So, I can see it now--empty nester and lover boy are all snuggally duggaly on the sofa admiring the wet bar and Robyn, Christine, and Janelle's kids come running through the front door with daddy, daddy, can we watch spider man? Empty nester looks at her blessed--blasted bonus kids and sighs loudly and rolls her eyes and says to lover boy...it's my night...send Robyn, Christine, and Janelle's brats out of here and don't let them touch my wet bar.
And, on Robyn's night, after she has put her brood down for the night, she and lover boy are all honey mooned out on the sofa and enter the teenagers wanting to talk to dear old dad about helping them with their home work...does Robyn enjoy her bonus kids interruption or does she whisper under her breath don't I get my night or what?
I doubt Janelle or Christine would worry about interruptions from the bonus kids because I think they see the kids as bonus kids.

  51. Back to the hardwood floors vs. carpet - yes they can be loud (that's solved by laying down rugs of course). If I WAS going to have carpet, though, I'd still have a nice floor under it since carpet definitely has a finite lifespan. I also have a cat that tends to barf on occasion, and it's WAY easier to clean up a wood floor or send a rug to be cleaned if need be than to clean a carpet.

Also I hear all the monogamous married women chiming in on Robyn's stupidity on how no one can understand...

therefore I officially would like to represent ALL THE SINGLE LADIES here on SWB who would rather REALLY be single with all the benefits, rather than sharing some LOSER guy like Kody and pretending NOT to be single. because I'm sure that if they do a W-2 or W-4 or whatever it is, the three other women don't put in "married" they put in single as their status, as do I...

  55. The word “home” and the phrase “find your way home” are part of the common spiritual imagery of fundamentalist Mormonism, as is the word “key.” A man's home is a reflection and expression of his godhood-potential; what he unlocks on earth will be unlocked in heaven. Home is both an expression and reflection of Heaven, both a means and a destination. The Home then, is a kind of altar as well as a proving ground. A “Key” is the power, authority, and right to assume a spiritual rank or task. A married man, for example, holds the Key to priesthood over his home, his wives and children.

Christine seems as if she is the wife to whom this imagery is most important. No wonder she has had such a difficult time the past couple of years. Kody is the head of her Home, and holds the Key to priesthood over her. However, in Christine's experience, Kody has not had such a great track record as a leader. It wouldn't be such a large leap from doubting Kody's leadership to doubting the validity of his authority. This, in Christine's religion, would be a spiritual crisis. She hinted to us that she has fantasized about “escaping,” and I'm not so sure she's through considering it—why else even mention it, even to protest it? Christine seemed very vulnerable. But it was great to see her genuine joy at getting the keys to her house, and Kody's unforced affection. His voice when he told her “You aren't there anymore” sounded sure and confident without the usual arrogance and bluster. He wasn't just telling her that the future in Vegas is bright; he was also telling her, very gently, to let go of the past.

I actually enjoyed the episode; justice was served up at Meri's karmic wet bar, Janelle had some nice moments, Christine had a spiritual renaissance, and I got to growl at Robyn for batting her needy eyes and stealing Kody away from Christine's big night. I loved seeing all the kids, and it was nice to see Kody smiling without grinning for a change, and showing some real affection to his wives.

So far I have not seen one single thing about

There is absolutely no reason on earth why 4 women need to be married to 1 man. It cannot be good for the women or the children. It's sad because the women who live like that are setting terrible examples for their kids!

  57. Having just caught up on this season in one sit-down session, I agree with so many of the posts. But a couple things I wanted to point out is LACK OF MATERIAL!! When you watch 4 episodes back-to-back, it is so apparent that there really is no story line anymore, which correlates to the lack of relationships between the families anymore. I too miss the "old" Lehi family and they have changed for the worse. Really there were only 2 story lines- the houses and MSWC. Boring! I bet the show is done for if they do not come up with better material.

Now on an interesting note, I just surfed over to the Darger's page http://lovetimesthree.com/sisterwives-new-season-and-acceptance-for-polygamy/. They were commenting on the new SW season and it is apparent in their "restraint" in their blog how little they actually care for the Brown's. Even though I think that Father Joe is very frightening, their family makes for much better TV showing a plig lifestyle than the Clowns. The Clowns are like 4 Single Mom households who all have the same Baby Daddy, who is an absolute loser and a nut.

They made a HUGE mistake buying 4 separate homes instead of building one large home or at least 2 homes. They could have figured out a way to do the financing with 1 large one. I loved the one commenter above who suggested Family Suppers all together. They can rotate houses and everyone bring a dish (that way Meri can make sure she and Mariah don't have to eat Christine's "unhealthy" real dinners). I guarantee that would be more time for the kids with Ko-dee-dum than they currently get, plus family bonding time.

I now like this blog better than I actually like the show!! Keep it up!!

  59. There never was a valid story line to this crew. Their whole premise was that poylgamy was a valid lifestyle because it could work for mothers to share child care, and have a career, etc.

But they never had a working family. Fiscally, they relied on welfare and government entitlement programs. Each and every adult in the family declared bankruptcy because they could not afford to feed their kids, much less clothe and house them. It also appears they had a habit of each successive adult taking on the credit charges of the others who declared bankruptcy, until they had run up all the debt they could get away with, and then that babymomma declared bankruptcy.

that TLC does not disclose this while touting a fiction that polygamy worked for these adults - and I use the term loosely -- is something someone ought to out. It is one thing to conceal the fact their past fiscal failures - but another to tout them and the lifestyle as a success when Kody could not even feed those kids.

And lets not even go to the family dynamics other than to say that Meri has no business claiming she is a sister wife in any sense of the word. She's an entitled woman, who has no claim to anything, having earned nothing, who has raised a spoiled, entitled child at the expense of all those other children. Shame on her - and on those who live with her and don't tell her to shut up.

As for the "my poor daughter doesn't want anything for Christmas -- she just wants to live all by herself with me in a 450K house.

The only way TLC should air these idiots is in a MST3K format, with tweets from the viewers jeering along.

Perhaps the next time they look into buying homes their "new" real estate agent won't advertise (along with providing driving instructions)the location and the developer's name. And since they are "so rich", perhaps setting up a trust to buy those homes - using a name that doesn't include Kody, Brown, Family, and Entertainment if at all possible. Just like real celebrity entertainers do.
