Off Topic Tuesday...Discussion page 2

Remember that this is the Off Topic Discussion area...This is where you can discuss ANY topic within SWB guidelines!

UPDATE!!!!

Okay, seems like we got some eagle eyed peeps who don't agree with my first assessment... That's kool (sorry DJ !!)

So being that I can't just jump on the next flight to Vegas, rent a car and drive to the cuddle sac, I did the next best thing.

Yep, I fired up Google Maps!!

Take a long hard look at the scenery in the picture above...

Now study the pictures below (courtesy Google Maps)

WEST of the cuddlesac

NORTH of the cuddlesac

Your challenge is to decide:

1) Which view best represents Janelle's photo (WEST or NORTH view)

2) Is the pool Janelle's or someone elses

Let's have some fun with this!! Good Luck!!

Alrighty then. My original conclusion was....WRONG. Here's the background on how I came to my NEW and IMPROVED conclusion...

Something about the tweet picture just didn't make sense...and it was THE BRICK FENCE GOING LEFT TO RIGHT!

You see, if that was Janelle's house, that fence would be separating her house from Christine - totally contrary to the backyards all being connected requirement set by Kody.

So before I went to Google maps, I wrote down 4 things to look for:

1. the mountain in the background
2. the clump of thick green trees
3. the utility poles near those trees
4. the unusual brick fence running left to right

Once I checked out Google Maps, I realized it was still possible the pool was located in the gated cul de sac, but that it most definitely was not located at any of the Brown's McMansions!

The view is North, there's a brick fence on the west (left) side and the North side. This house must be located in the Northwest corner of the gated cul de sac at a neighbor's house.

Once I got on Google Map, I could account for all 4 of the items I had to find to support my conclusion.

Finally, that brick fence (4) could be seen in this Google map view:

Which would correspond to this property:

As Juan Martinez will say (hopefully soon) I rest my case...

Wait Wait!! Just one more thing!

I noticed that there are people responding to Janelle's tweet, but the conversations are not showing on her tweet account (at least not for me). If you put her twitter name  @JanelleBrown117 in the search box, when the results come up, click on Tweets: All and you'll see those comments (scroll down).

From what I can tell of those comments, fans have put 2 and 2 together and now realize (well, some of them) that the Browns did get those McMansions. Of course, Janelle has taken the stance of IGNORING the comments, like an ostrich sticking its head in the sand. This might work with Kody, but maybe she should have been a little more careful and just zoomed in on the kids in the pool.

Looks like the Arias trial in Phoenix AZ has been cancelled for the day (Wednesday 3/27).

No information why the cancellation, just that "Court will be unable to proceed today". Short and sweet. I did hear one of the HLN reporters saying that Jodi's female attorney made a point of saying to one of the Sheriff deputies "Make sure she takes her medication!" after an earlier hearing (on a court related matter but before a different judge) had finished.

Apparently, court was cancelled due to Arias suffering from a migraine headache,  which could explain why her attorney made that statement. Also, a family friend is claiming Arias is being awakened on court days way too early, at 1 or 2 AM.

Sheriff Joe (Arpaio) disputes that, saying to a HLN reporter that Arias is awakened at 4 or 5 AM, fed half her breakfast, then bused to the courthouse. She is allowed by the county jail to eat the rest of her breakfast for lunch. Her dinner meal is served around 6 PM back at the jail. Her meals total 2600 calories per day, but she could be allowed more calories if needed.

On a lighter note, I found a picture of a Vegas personality (Coco Austin) wearing a 'bandage' dress very similar to Meri's.

Photos from Vegas Kool

As you can see, it does takes a certain body type and attitude to rock that dress! Having a svelte waistline helps, too.

  1. I noticed some protesting a tad too much about having an off topic post. I would suggest just skimming (it's REALLY easy) and reading the parts you are interested in. With so little going on with the Browns, and such other great topics to be had, being the free birds we are, we will put up and discuss anything we like! In Other words, don't complain.

    4. I get the impression that lawns and such are kind of verboten in LV, due to the amount of water they require.

I couldn't live in LV, although I know many people love it. I need green and the occasional fog bank!!!

  2. Is the house with the pool owned by a family or is it owned by a rental/builder company?

Everyone I know with a pool is very careful about inviting kids over lest their pool be overrun 24x7.....

  3. I think you're 100% right about where that pool is located. And that property actually has ROOM for a pool. No room on the south end of the cult-de-sac. Good investigative work!

    1. Thank you AZChristian! I LOVE Google Map!!!

...weren't they all going to share a huge backyard, a la Big Love style?

I know that was Kody's 'dream' but I think the reality (and AZChristian may be able to confirm this) those houses are soooo huge there is very little backyard. So they may not have fences separating the houses, but the ability to have a common play area and swimming pool (like on Big Love) is impossible. Just not enough room.

      Delete
    2. I see that a couple of the houses on the circle north of them are closer to the street, allowing room in the back for a pool or play area. But it looked to me like the Browns had opted to move the front of their houses further back from their circle, leaving them very little room in the rear. (See the tan roof on the right in the north part of the circle. The two houses on the south end of their circle are THAT close to a busy 4-lane highway.) There "might" be room for a small pool (we in AZ call them "play pools") between a couple of the houses, but a pool that size would NOT be large enough to accommodate all of the Browns - they'd have to take turns.

I guess I'm just going to have to go back to Vegas to scout this all out again. LOL.

      Delete
    3. Well, on top of what the other posters have stated, I'm pretty certain this pool isn't in any of their backyards.

      * There is no room for a pool in any one yard.
      * The orientation is off.
      * One of Kody's 'new' main reasons for them to live in separate homes vs. a fourplex/Lehi-style home is resale value; if the Brown Brainiacs put a pool spanning more than one yard, resale would become ultra tricky = poor resale value.
      * Why spend the money on a pool when "mere mortal"s are willing to host the entire Kody Krew, footing the water, food, and insurance bills...just sayin'

    4. Man, I would hate to have to keep track of all those kids and access to a pool. Very dangerous the possibility of a drowning.

  5. In response to CJ's post from the last page.

The presentation was a mix of Brown family members as well as the main LIV spokesperson. VEEEERRRRYYY BOOORRRING. Snacks were healthy vegetables and what not (Impressed). The only thing to drink was the green goo. Yes Kody was there. I have no idea why they trust perfect strangers into their home – they are asking for it. I am guessing that they hold this in their house because they are too mortgage poor to rent a conference room (C’mon you knew that one! Hah!) The room was full (30 – 40 people including Browns and their regular LIV cult). I would NEVER buy into this and I made that clear to them from the beginning which is probably why I was not paid that much attention to. One person claimed to have bought $2000 (which was the highest amount) into the whole scheme. I forget the lowest start up amount… sorry. As far as getting invited back, I specifically told them I was not going to buy into the “cool aide” because I DO NOT LIKE THAT DRINK AT ALL. I was STILL invited to another event but they never followed up. So I think they essentially gave up on my friend and I. I cannot say if they are making that much off of all this but I will say this: If they weren’t making money then why is Kody driving a new car around and inviting perfect strangers into their homes for this business? Do I think the average Joe can make good money off of this MLM? NO! I had several people in this meeting try to sell me some of theirs (that they had bought) and we politely declined. I did not see anyone try to buy the product from the fans who HAVE bought in, BUT I did see several people “Brown Nose” the Brown’s and buy from them. I think that the only ones who benefit are the Brown family. They do not care about their fans well being at all. I think their view is that they are gracing everyone with their presence and that should be enough. I even had one woman admit to me she is just buying in so she can come back to more meetings. She doesn’t even like the stuff.

PS It makes your teeth turn green.

    1. If they weren’t making money then why is Kody driving a new car around

The car Kody drives was an incentive for being a top recruiter (if memory serves) based on dollars brought in. On the LIV website, it used to have a section that highlighted their top producers and showed the incentives. One was a free cruise, the other was a car (lease paid by LIV). This was discussed last year on SWB. He's had that car over a year now. Anyway, I think he actually poured his OWN money into buying that crap in order to qualify for the car and director standing (at that time).

Good grief, why would anyone want to drink that stuff? Turning your teeth green? No Thanks!

Thank you so much for the information IDWIW !!

    2. Glad you brought up the point about them having perfect strangers into their home. That hit me right away.
Who would do that?? Other than very naive, stupid people.

It's one thing if they were not celebs and had valid reasons to believe the guests really would be future downliners, but given their notoriety did it not occur to them that *some* fans can be a bit "off"....as in stalker?? And you have them in your home?!

    3. Wow. He bought a boat load of LIV so that they would lease a car for him?! Just wow! Why not just... oh never mind. Thanks for bringing me up to date on this. I was very curious.

I will admit I have more I would love to dish but I think I will wait for more time to pass because I am not all that comfortable telling certain details of my interaction because it would definitely give my identity away. I often wonder if the Browns read this blog. They would know who I was if I DID disclose certain facts about my interactions with them. Plus, like I said before I don't hate the people... I just highly disrespect them.

    5. Read pinktruth.com to find out how those MLM "free car" schemes work. CJ is probably not far off the mark. The way Mary Kay works is - if the team of the sales director who has the "free car" doesn't make her sales goals that month, she's on the hook to pay the lease and insurance costs for that month (or a portion). So it's not just contingent on Kody's "sales" but how much his Downline buys as well. I'm guessing that a big part of the "work" the wives do that they always talk about is calling their suckers - oops I mean Downline - to make sure they order, sign people up, etc - anything to meet their sales goal.

Oh and also, the lease is billed at full cost - not like you would negotiate with a dealer, but the full normal price of the lease. It's all a spiral.
      Thanks for the info!!

    8. Doesn't surprise me a bit that Meri's not using the wet bar. We never used the one in our house growing up except as a place to put junk mail!

One other thing about the car - it's also meant to be free advertising exactly the way you described - you figured they had a brand new car so they must be doing amazing. That's the way MK works too. I've gone to a few MK "parties" and always one of the sales directors would show up in her pink Cadillac to impress us potential suckers...it's all bs.

    9. Not using the the wet bar... ha! Wonder if Janelle and Christine are upset about that!

    10. DJ - Thank you for your insight. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the pressure is on for them to sale sale sale! Their pitch was high pressure and intense to say the least. Kody may very well have a lot of incentive to only cater to those fans willing to drink the cool aide since he would have to pay that lease if he can't get enough of those Downline buyers as you mentioned. They really don't want anything to do with fans that don't benefit them - very opportunistic people. This just goes to show that these people do not think about their future finances and well being at all. What a sad way to live.

anyway, I dropped the Melaleuca associate after about a year. Of course the guy who I had a crush on promptly cut me off - didn't return my calls, never talked to me even when we were at the same places etc. This is typical of people in MLMs trying to sell you...they act like you are the best of friends and/or all one big happy family - which is what pulls a lot of lonely people in - until you can't afford to be part of it anymore, or for whatever reason you can't contribute to their commissions or worse yet decide to pull out because you need to spend more time with your family or what have you (one of the sales pitches of MLMs is that you can work on your own time and have all this extra time to spend with your fam...doesn't work that way...) then they drop you like a hot potato. They use you then they throw you away when you're of no further use to them.

The last MLM I joined a few years ago was (as stated) being promoted by a couple of group X instructors, one of which I highly respect. the key product is a once-a-week cleanse along with some protein shakes. I liked the protein shakes and I did lose some weight doing the once a week cleanse although the stuff tasted like crap. I was told they could sell to me directly, but it would be cheaper if I was an associate. I told them from the get go that I was not planning on selling at all - I just wanted to buy for myself. Which I did for about a year, then when my associate membership lapsed, I didn't renew. no biggie.

If you've looked at the Browns' LIV page, there are posed photos (featuring Christine doing the duck face LOL!) of the family "enjoying" the green goo. I find them hilarious as it doesn't look like they are really enjoying it, and what Kody is drinking appears to be water.

anyway...wrote a novel. If you want to know more about MLMs, I would HIGHLY recommend not only reading Pinktruth.com but also googling for "Penn & Teller: Bullshit - Easy Money". VERY funny and VERY true about MLMs and how there is no way they can work for anyone except for the companies themselves and the people at the tippy-top of the pyramid. whew!

    13. oh and one more thing about the wet bar. I think it was pretty clear that the wet bar wasn't really the true nature of Meri's beyotchfest - she wanted as big a place as the other wives, and the only way to justify getting one was to raise a stink about the wetbar since the builders kept saying that the wetbar only came with the bigger house option. Of course why would it matter really - again, LEGALLY, the leinholder/mortgagee is only looking at how much Meri/Kody can afford to pay (although how they figured they could pay $450K is beyond me...) and of course it made for more "drama" (if you want to call it that) on the show. Shit all I can say is that if the best F8F/the Browns can do for "drama" is to make up stuff about IVF/surrogacy and wetbars, then they must thank God, Krishna, Buddah, and Joseph Smith for SWB on a daily basis because I am NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO ONLY WATCHES THE SHOW BECAUSE OF THIS BLOG!!!!

Poor Jodi....as a migraine sufferer, I should be more sympathetic to her plight.
But Jodi, how come during your many, many days (14 to be exact) being on the witness stand during the direct examination by *your* team, you were so animated, so focused, and headache-free as you so willingly and descriptively and so non-stop gave the world a front row seat to your many sex exploits....*every, freakin detail* beyond what anyone needed to hear..and you looked so happy and titillated giving your testimony.

I just hope that Juan Martinez is very careful how he handles the DV expert. Otherwise he could alienate some of the jury. My guess is that at some point he is going to ask her if a battered woman would initiate kinky sex with someone she doesn't even live with...and actually lives hundreds of miles away from her alleged abuser. His cross examination should be interesting.
I don't think the DP will stand but I really hope she doesn't get a 2nd degree conviction.
That would mean that she would be out again in society sooner than later.

    1. I keep going back to the collage of the shower pictures. There is the one with the haunting look in his eyes...this is the only one that is bright enough to see details. Some have said they can see two people reflected in his eyes but I could only see two dark shapes. The one following is where Travis is sitting in the shower...because the bullet went from the top of his head and lodged in his cheek, perhaps she did shoot him first. I would believe he did lunge at her but only because he had been shot. That would scare the crap out of her to know he wasn't dead. Maybe that is when the camera was dropped which is the next picture.

If he made it down the hall...probably trying to get out or for a phone I bet he collapsed and that is where she cut his throat. I think it is interesting in her demonstration of him lunging at her....she cocks her head to the side as if to prove that is the angle of the bullet...as he was taller than her.

Also this was such a secret trip it looks like premeditation to me. Just my opinion.

    4. Slept in Debt,
"Also this was such a secret trip it looks like premeditation to me"

This is a really glaring point. She DID plan that trip to be incognito, went out of her way to be under the radar. It is too, too obvious a point to miss. Hopefully Martinez will highlight that in his summation.

Also when HLN showed actual film footage of the bathroom, the bathroom is not large at all and the shower stall itself is VERY small. I still can't believe that after stabbing and cutting his throat, she dragged his body back in there and then folded him up to fit so the door would close, given how small the stall is.
And...she had to be covered in blood after doing that. Wonder what happened to those clothes?

Lunging at her as he came "out" of the shower is a fake illusion.
Too bad the prosecution didn't take the jury on a field trip to actually view the scene and see the size and layout of the bathroom and closet. It would help their perspective.
He had only to take "a step" or stumble and he would be right in front of her.
I agree with you, she did not expect him to survive a dead on, point blank shot in the head. That's when she panicked and went on a hunt for a knife. Apparently she must have dropped the gun after she shot him and didn't have any time or extra ammo to reload the gun and shoot him again till the deed was done.
Her lurid sex with the rope story conveniently put the knife in the alleged vicinity.
The whole linebacker story is also so ridiculous...there wasn't enough room from the shower to the center of the bathroom for him to rev up and lunge linebacker-style and tackle her...while shot in the head.

      I think like you do.....
That after he was shot, *HE* was the one struggling *to get away* from her...probably to a phone for help.

    8. But what about lack of blood in his head? Medical examiner said Travis had "Bled out" before he was shot

From what I understand, the ME made that opinion because the amount of decomposition made it impossible to determine how much bleeding the bullet actually caused.

The whole linebacker story is also so ridiculous...there wasn't enough room from the shower to the center of the bathroom for him to rev up and lunge linebacker-style and tackle her...

I thought Arias said the sequence went like this...
-she dropped the camera while taking pictures in the shower area
-Travis got mad, picked her up and bodyslammed her to the tile floor
-she was able to get up and ran to the closet for the gun.
-Travis came into the closet...got into his linebacker pose and lunged at her, with his head turned slightly to the left (i think she said)
-the gun in her hand went off, hitting Travis just above his left eyebrow
-it's all a fog what happened next

Too bad the prosecution didn't take the jury on a field trip to actually view the scene and see the size and layout of the bathroom and closet. It would help their perspective.

That was discussed on HLN, apparently the bathroom has been remodelled by the new owners so it wouldn't do any good to take the jurors on a tour. It's all different now.

I also think Arias shot Travis first, thinking he would immediately die. When he got up coughing blood, walking over to the sink (I think to see what damage had been done to his face) she had to think fast and got the knife. She started stabbing him (probably outside the bathroom) Her first stab was the fatal one to his chest, he tried to make his way out of the bedroom. He fell down, and started crawling towards the door. Arias stabs him 9 times in the back and back of his head. When he gets to the bedroom door, he's almost bled out, but Arias sits on his back (or maybe stands over his back) grabs his hair, pulls his head back and slits his throat. When he finally dies, she pulls him back into the shower stall and tries to clean up the mess.

      Delete
    9. Oh yes, on the how big was the closet, this is where Martinez had that exchange with Arias.

He said something like are you sure he got into the linebacker pose in the closet, it doesn't seem like it was large enough. Arias said the closet was big, that it was bigger than the cell she's living in. Martinez then said something like I didn't ask you about where you are living now...

    11. I was looking at the Jodi Arias Killing Timeline on YouTube. Their theory is the stab wound to the chest came first while he was sitting in the shower. Could be possible too, and that as he turned to the sink that the blood shot all over the walls, then he tried to get away down the hall. They say she put him back in the shower to wash all her DNA off of him...I never thought of that. I just can't see even wanting to kill her over dropping the camera...it would have been on warranty. She was just so bitter.

    13. I should have said in the sequence which I posted was that this is what is in "my mind"....that she shot him while he was in shower and he stumbled out, still alive but wounded and frantic to get away from her....then she went into panicked overdrive with the frantic "uh,oh" he isn't dead, I have to finish this somehow" and then the stabbing and throat slitting began.

I agree....dropping the camera, which if it even happened that way, he would not have attacked her for that..(dripping wet and nude.)

I did hear that about the lack of blood in the brain, and did wonder how she would have cleaned up the scene if he bled out. Once she cut his throat his carotid and jugular would have been pumping blood. That would have been a massive amount of blood. Maybe she finished him off after she dragged him back to the shower where it would have gone drain the drain ??? Dunno know?! But since he was in advanced decomposition, it cannot be determined for sure.
And to think that she locked the bedroom door when she left the house after the murder to make it even harder for someone to find him.

The debacle with the fan and Martinez is unfortunate. I hope this does not affect his credibility with the jury in trying this case for the state.
Kurt Nurmi and Jennifer Wilcott no doubt will try to use that on appeal if she is convicted.

Thx CJ, for the clarification on the bathroom being remodeled. I didn't know that piece.
That makes sense now why the state didn't take the jury to the scene.

    14. Hi Amused!

Sorry but this may be unsettling to some readers...

I heard that the throat slitting happened at the door of his bedroom where there was a HUGE blood stain in the carpet. Also there was a continuous wide horizontal swath of blood on one hallway wall leading back to bedroom as well as various blood drops/sprays and Arias' bloody handprint (that contained both her blood and Travis') along the other side of the hallway wall.

And to think that she locked the bedroom door when she left the house after the murder to make it even harder for someone to find him

Oh please jury, do the right thing and convict this murderer of 1st degree premeditated murder!!

    16. do you know anything about the room mates, was one of them home at the time? Did they notice an odour after a few days? What happened to the little dog?

From what I've heard on HLN, Arias KNEW that one of the roommates was due back at the house between 6:30-7:00pm so she had like less than hour to clean up and get out of there so they wouldn't see her. They theorized that was why the rear license was upside down on the rental car - in her haste to get the heck out of there, she didn't notice she put the license plate on wrong. She also had enough presence of mind to let the dog out (I heard).

They also mentioned that she ran the shower to clean off the blood on his body, and shut and locked the bedroom door. The roommates apparently didn't notice an odor and I think I heard they thought Travis was away in Cancun. When it became known that Travis was missing, that was when they went to his bedroom, got the door open and found his body in the bathroom.

    17. Uhhh !!! Thx again, CJ.
Thinking about that blood scene, on the carpet, swath down the hall, on the wall, in the sink...in the shower...
And this freak is saying she doesn't remember any of that part...!!

A complete fog after she shoots him, during which time she then stabs him to death, shoves him in the shower stall, cleans herself up, puts the camera through a cycle in the washing machine. puts the knife through a cycle in the dish washer....
Repacks her car, locks his house, calls his cell phone (twice) and leaves covering messages, tosses the gun in the desert, makes sure the infamous rope is nowhere to be found....
Drives for hours to the other guy's house, has *dry* sex with him (just hours after she has killed Travis) and interacts as normal with this guy and others while at his house....
No abnormal anything observed by him other than the guy noticing what she told him were *new* "work-related" cuts on one hand...!!!

I think once Arias dropped the "I wasn"t there, I didn't do it" lie and then dropped the "Two black-clothed killers broke in, killed Travis and I got away and I didn't call 911 because they stole my ID and would find me and kill me too" lie.....
Once she was cornered with no where to run, she began crafting the self defense. battered/abused story. As experts have said, she would have been smarter to plea insanity...except it's likely her deranged ego would never be content with that.
She has had FOUR years to work up and fine tune this phony storyline.

I share your pleas with the jury. She is a danger to society.
Convict her, if not for slaughtering her victim, then for society's sake.

Thank you for your posts! the Browns open themselves up, so I would not feel bad making a review of them. If you watch their show, they certainly review what they think of everything.
Honestly, When Christine didn't want her kids to go to a Christian school with the sharks, but sent her kids to a HUGE High school, it really showed her ignorance and her AUB ways. My kids go to a Catholic School and we are not Catholic, but I checked, and they go over simple scriptures and prayers, and most religion based school are more streamlined now to include a wider base. SHARKS she said.
I just wish you could tell us more about their personalities and how they behaved.

  11. Thanks for the info IDWIW!

I think the commenter mentioned Meri's furniture, so I'm guessing the LIV thing was in her house. I would bet they're having all of the presentations in the same house, and then writing off much of the mortgage interest as a home business. This would certaily help her justify her empty rooms; not sure one can write off interest on rooms if they are actually used (Like for children's bedrooms). And if it's Meri's house strangers are going to, at least we don't have to worry about the safety of most of the Brown children.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. But doesn't the IRS require proof that an actual profit is being made?

      Delete
    2. I'm sure Meri writes off what she can for LIV and Robyn does the same for the jool-erie, so the two of them are like "we're covered, Jenelle and Christine, you better figure something out" and Kody goes "I'm with Meri"

      Delete
    3. I don't really know how it actually works, but I've known some people who "wrote off" one room of their house as a center for their business. I don't think you have to show a profit; but rather the sq footage you write off is deducted from your basis in the house. (I think.)So, for example, if 20% of the space in your house is for your business, you can deduct 20% of the costs of the house from your taxes as a business expense. Including mortgage interest, electricity, maid serice (ha!), anything. But then when you sell the house, it effects that somehow. Since we all think the Brown's will be foreclosed on rather than sell, it may be another way for them to take advantage of tax laws, etc. now.

Meri could be claiming several empty rooms this way I bet; 1 with a computer and desk in it for business transactions; 1 as a packaging and mail-holding room, 1 to host the sales meetings in, etc.

I think what you have to be most careful of if you do this, is that the IRS cannot prove you use the rooms for other things, like as a kids bedroom, or a livingroom, etc. May explain why she and Koduche insisted she have such a big house.

Then again, I may not know what I'm talking about, as I've never had a home office!

      Delete
    4. Jenelle and Christine can each have a home office for their real estate business "stuff".

      Delete
    5. My understanding is that you only get a few years of not being profitable before the IRS considers the business a hobby, and no longer allows such deductions.

      I could be wrong though.

    7. CPA Carol needs to chime in ***SWB TO CPA CAROL COME IN STAT!!!***

My bestie who is a professor and also writes articles on the side does deduct part of her mortgage expenses I think because she does work at home, but she is able to show a real profit and she also works very closely with her accountant to ensure that she is within the guidelines. However, I doubt that either Janelle or Christine is able to deduct anything for their "real estate business". for one thing, they aren't really "realtors" - they are glorified admins AND they have an office at TMI, and they only work part time. I telecommute/work from home part time, and I can't deduct any part of MY rent, I've checked.

    8. The Browns pay 135.00 a month per house for home owner association fees...i wonder if their are restrictions in the HAO about conducting business in the home. I know there were in mine about using a house for a business.

      Delete
    9. I run a home business, and so thoroughly researched all of my tax deduction possibilities this year. :) Home office space is no different than any other business deduction, so if you can still claim your other expenses, you can claim your office. I believe you have three years to show a loss, before you revert to a "hobby". I'm in the black so it didn't matter to me, but my "space" is used for a million things (young family, small house!) so I didn't attempt to claim it.

      Delete
    10. Whoa, $135/ month per house really adds up! That's an extra $540/month & $6480/yr for their expenses. That's $$ that could easily be used for groceries, kids necessities, medical/dental,emergencies, or heck just to be putting away in savings. The Brown's illogical thinking & horrible financial habits never cease to amaze me...smh I mean, about 3 yrs ago, they could barely pay their mortgage, bills, & food in Lehi & here they are today just spending $$ frivously & shamelessly. Oh how hard & harsh the landing will be, when they finally fall off the high horse they rode in on. Pride comes before a fall & this is gonna hurt like a motherf**k'r!!!

    11. Isn't it ridiculous? It's all for the show. Definitely not a modest bunch. I believe they are now in the county, and could easily have bought a spot and built 4 homes with no HOA's.

      Delete
    12. I always wondered exactly what services they receive in exchange for the HOA fees, since the houses all appear to be single family dwellings. Is it to maintain the gate? or are the yards maintained? insurance? WTF? I mean I can see the reasoning behind an HOA for a condo unit but these are single family dwellings for crying out loud...

      Delete
    13. There was more information in the records regarding the houses. Since they were new construction more hard facts became available months after closing. Meris house was 9,000 bucks more than the others. The extra features were available on closing info updated. They all have the same square footage and bedrooms. They all have a pantry and decks and patio slabs with gas for bbq. They all have balconys and covered patios.

    14. Those HOA dues seem outrageous to me. My parents live in a subdivision with an HOA and their dues are $50 a year. It goes toward maintaining the front entrance (mowing, planting flowers, repairs to the brick sign, etc...). And any money left over is used for block parties. That's in a neighborhood with less than 50 houses and no gate. Maybe the Browns HOA dues pay the gate guard. I wonder if the dues will decrease as more houses sell.

      Delete
    15. Thanks for the shout out! Generally you get about 2-3 years to show a 'hobby' is actually a 'business' and you are trying to make money. The IRS is very particular about home office deductions. For instance, if you claim a home office deduction, you have to prove you never use the room for anything other than business. If you have 17 kids/bonus kids I would think that would be a hard thing to prove (i.e. kids on the computer, doing homework etc). Of course, you are only really 'caught' if you are audited...I don't know if the Browns would necessarily fall under the IRS radar....but I generally advise extreme caution on 'home office' deductions.

I was thinking today that if plural marriage became legal, I wonder how polygamists would file their tax returns. Married filing jointly jointly and jointly? I would actually prefer that because it would reduce tax fraud. For years prior to the TLC gravy train, all but Meri were claiming Head of Household with many dependents and paying no tax (earned income credit). So I wonder how the IRS would interpret plural families should they ever become legal.

      Delete
    16. Regarding the amount of the HOA - I'm guessing the association only consists of the 9 overpriced houses not a whole slew of comparatively moderately priced homes. So there are fewer owners to carry the risk and expenses. I doubt that the "gated community" has a gate person. More than likely its just an automated gate and all the owners get remotes. Lol after awhile I predict that the residents will just get annoyed with having to remember to bring their remotes (the gate is really just a status symbol more than a security method) and leave the gate open 24/7 sooner or later - I see that happen frequently at gated comms here. Obviously since we've seen snaps of the Browns moving in, the gate really doesn't mean diddly.

Btw most people I know who have HOAs here in the Bay Area are paying WAY more than $135/month. But again it's all relative - $450k would get you a 1 or 2 bedroom condo here which is why I'm satisfied to rent!!

      Delete
    17. Wow, Anon at 9:02pm, your parent's HOA fees are great! Mine were over 4 times that amount five years ago and I considered myself very fortunate. Other's fees in the same general area (more upscale developments) were running anywhere from #400-$1200/month or more.

I received 24 hour security in a large gated community, but paid for my own garbage collection, lawn maintenance, etc. My HOA fees paid for community landscaping, road maintenance, security, community employees, community recreation areas, etc.

All that said... I can't imagine what the Browns are getting for their HOA dues which seem outrageous. All I can imagine is that they're paying for the gate which should be paid off in a few years, landscaping (which doesn't look to be very extensive at all), and garbage removal. As others have said, this is just another example of their poor financial decision making and money management.

  13. I think the Browns read here. I know if there was a blog about my show, I'd read it. Even if it was negative and hurt my feelings, I think curiosity would get the best of me. I try to be mindful of what I say here. I love this blog. It has tons of great info. I like to offer my opinion on their relationships with each other and their "lifestyle" in general. I try not to comment on physical appearance because for me that just crosses the line ... Unless you think you are hot and you're really not ... LOL. One time I was reading through the kids tweets and they were joking about being orange and calling each other oompah loompas (no kidding). That confirmed for me that they read here.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't worry about being "mindful" here re: worrying what the Browns read. They enter here at their own risk - including their kids that are under 18 and shouldn't be reading here anyway. I agree about remarking on people's physical appearances that they have no control over but i don't worry about snarking about their outfits they choose to wear - especially when it's obvious Meri and Robyn both DO think they're hot stuff and are very self-centered and narcissistic like Kodilocks is as well. They chose to market themselves and go public and when you do that - you put your big girl panties on and grow a thick skin w/the dissenters who don't really care for you and what you're promoting.

They have their own FB page where they have TONS of rabid adoring fans oohing and aahing over every ridiculous thing these people do and say. That more than offsets this snark blog for their ego-rush. I've only been able to bring myself to peek in at that place a couple of times. I feel like I entered the Twilight Zone both times.

fwiw- as far as snarking on the kids themselves - i've only done that re:mariah a couple of times. sadly, she's a meri clone and i feel bad that her siblings are forced to deal w/her in the same manner the other wives have to deal w/her mother. neither one of them are likable and probably can't understand why. But i really see people here always supporting all the other kids and feeling bad for this situation they were born into and watching the pain of their mothers and basically not having a real relationship w/their Peter Pan/Tinkerbell acting daddy.

      Delete
    2. My thoughts exactly. The Browns CHOSE to put themselves out there in order to make money (I don't believe for more than a minute that they are trying to make polygamy "acceptable" - if it DID become acceptable, then they wouldn't be "unique" now would they??) and they continue to use their fame/notoriety to scam people into buying their craptastic jewelry and sign up with their MLM and whatever other schemes they choose to concoct or participate in (and based on what I've read, they've been into the "get rich quick" money making schemes in the past, witness Janelle's pantry business which apparently went nowhere).

The kids for the most part are off limits, but Mariah and the over 18ers who choose to put themselves out there are adults and no longer children. I do believe that Logan is focused on college and not so much on the show and now only participates under duress at this point. Mariah on the other hand IMO appears to be courting the attention by openly stating she wants to be a plyg like her mom. Sure they were born into it, but once they are adults they can make the decision for themselves which direction to choose.

As far as the Arias trial, if memory serves that came up here at SWB because of the LDS/Mormon connection. I do have friends who are LDS, and they for the most part are embarassed/mortified by the Browns and other plyg groups and their reactions to the topic have ranged from scorn to disassociation and most will say the Browns are not really Mormons at all. At any rate, I find the Arias trial interesting and it does tie into the Browns to my mind not because of the Mormon connection, but because of the abusive relationships (although I think that it was more on Arias' side than her boyfriend's). Plus it's hella interesting and I don't get much of an opportunity to follow on my own, so I appreciate the updates and the insights of the folks here who ARE following it. :)

    3. Anon 12:47 here ... To Anon 8:44, I totally get that and agree with you. I was just saying I don't remark on physical appearance personally and just noting that the kids more than likely read here. I agree that any well balanced individual - man, woman, or child - needs to understand that not everyone is going to like you and fawn all over you in this life. One of the reasons I love this blog is because I so disagree with so much about the Browns and I'm quite irritated by all the sugary sweet comments on their pages. I'm just glad I'm not the only one who can see through them. I think reading the constructive or even negative comments can be useful if they allow them to be. We are all on the same page here :)

    4. The dress is okay. Maybe go up a size since it looks very tight on her. Go bare legged or nude hose, a pair of pumps, drop the black shrug. Then it would look fine to me. The leggings really throw it off because that type of dress is not worn with cropped leggings.

      Delete
    5. No! Bandage dresses are MEANT to be tight and do not look good unless you have an amazing body. Leggings under a tight dress? Blah! I don't understand the whole layering thing anyway. Skip the layering a wear a classy pantsuit or well-fitted pair of jeans and long-sleeved blouse! I don't get it! Also, black and turquoise combination? Yuck! I just have no good things to say about this outfit lol. She's frying up her hair with that straightener too.

    6. All that layering (undergarment, black pantyhose, leggings) added inches Meri did not need. Whoever sold her on wearing that outfit must really hate her!

I agree. A designer pantsuit, or even a beautiful designer blouse with black slacks and beautiful classy accessories. She doesn't look good in jeans and since she should be trying to look like the lady of the manor, she needs to redo that wardrobe. Hear me, Meri? Own your body, you are not skinny mini anymore. And I know she's not owning it because she looks embarrassed, and she should be!

Think Candy Spelling, or Oprah Winfrey(who shares Meri's body shape) - not a 20-something size 0 supermodel.

Or better yet, wear a glammed(accessory wise) up version of her sisterwife Janelle's style.

    7. The first I seriously wonder, is where the Mere got that dress? Did she go to a store to buy it? Did she borrow it from her burlesque friend or one of her bonus children (Mariah is too modest to wear such a dress)? Did she get as a hand me down? Did she buy it at a garage sale/charity sale/goodwill?

She probably thinks a bandage dress is just like any other dress, and that wearing it with leggings and a (too tight and too small) bolero top makes her look fashionable and hottest, yet still modest. Darn, is she wrong.

A dress like that should be worn with bare leggs or nude tights and without jacket.

To wear a dress like that you have to have a _FIGURE_. You don't have to be skinny, but there has to be some sort of silluete (you can't look like a 16 oz water bottle, there has to be a waistline, or at least a distinction in circumference between hips, waist and bossom).

If you have a figure but are not skinny, you should definately wear a "super duper" slimming level dress spanx... you know what.. whatever weight you have a dress like that ALWAYS looks better with spanx and a push up bra and the right attitude.

The mere looks like she is about to say something real nasty to her sweet gf sw's.

    https://sisterwivesblog.blogspot.com/2011/07/what-started-it-all-bbc-meeting-browns.html

You never see Joe Darger going, Vickie's kids, raise your hands WHOO HOO!!!!!
I swear, that line there is worth the LAUGH!!!!!!

Such a difference in families. I do not believe in their religion at all. Polygamy isn't the worst of it, false prophet Joseph Smith and his seer stone is. He had conned many ppl with this trick on land before coming up with a religion.
But Joe Darger, by choosing cousins and sisters, seems to have made up a much more loving family unit. Don't you agree?

No, I don't believe that for a second. Joe has three women who like being ruled by an autocrat. This doesn't mean they're a more loving family unit. They do what they're told. They tow the line and they smile about it. Of course each wife feels jealousy and hurt when Joe's on rotation. And the children see it too. With the exception of Meri, I think the 3 other Brown sister wives are very loving towards their gaggle of kids, and somewhat cooperative with each other. BTW, with the older kids doing more things away from the cult de sac, and the parents doing more "promotional" work, who's around to babysit? The young teens?

    5. Yes, Shocked 3/28 12:54pm, I agree with you about the Dargars. I don't approve of their lifestyle, and lost respect for them because they raise their beautiful girl children to think they have to share a man, and all of the grief that entails. I feel for their sons, too, it's just most of their beautiful littlest kids pictured on their facebook page are girls, so I "see" them more as victims.

However, I do think they have a happy, loving family. And maybe it's because the wives are related (who knows); after all, they grew up together, had their own relationships pre-Joe, and have cared about each other throughout their lives.

  24. Call me crazy, but I just don't see the attraction of Las Vegas as a place to live if you can help it. It is ridiculously hot in the summer and the natural scenery is not exactly a picture postcard, although it has a certain appeal in a dry, deserty sort of way.

We drove through LV last summer on a road trip to and from the San Francisco area for a wedding(we live in the midwest)because we wanted to go to the Lil' A'le'Inn in Rachel, NV as part of our adventure. (We also went to Roswell, NM---we were big fans of The X-Files) I'm just saying that of all the places on the planet the Browns could have "run" to, LV certainly isn't a place I would have picked. Where I live has its issues, too,(e.g. minus 20 degrees) but at least there is greenery. Also, the whole gambling/LV show thing is something I find very unappealing...we didn't stop in LV at all except to get gasoline.

I know some of the bloggers here call LV home. Sorry to "diss" your town. I realize it isn't all gambling and show girls---but, in the end, that is why the town came to be in the first place and that is what it is today essentially.

Which takes me to Utah---a place that gives me the creeps (and like, LV, I've been through there several times)---except for its outstanding and amazing natural beauty. To me, Salt Lake City has an alien feel (not as in aliens from outer space--which, BTW, I do NOT believe in) but it's the Mormon presence which permeates that part of the country (including parts of Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, etc.)that I find unsettling---as if I'm a stranger in a strange land. I've been in Temple Square and felt an uncomfortable "heaviness" that things were not right, that this was a place that was an anathema to God--not a place of God's presence. I don't have that same weird feeling when away from the towns and out in the wonders of what God created in what we call Utah---but I do in the cities and towns.

Then, getting to the Browns themselves, well, I've never been "on board" with the polygamy thing and each time I see pictures of the 5 of them together, smiling away, the "ick" factor just grows. Same with the Dargers. Why any woman would WILLINGLY accept this "lifestyle" is beyond rational thinking. While religious beliefs have a great "faith factor" God also created us to be thinking and reasoning human beings and we don't have to leave our brains at the door when considering the merits and realities of any religion...or the hard proofs thereof.

    ReplyDelete
  25. LV was built for the sole purpose of gambling and prostition. Perfect place for so called religious folks! NOT!

To have "faith" you need to have a strong inclination into believing fairy tales.

Las Vegas does have a large Mormon community, as well as other religions.

Please do not insult people who have chose to have "faith" and to live in Las Vegas.

Also, when they first got to Vegas she says something about waiting a while after getting married to have a baby, in the discussion of moving so quickly wasn't she crying about "just moving to utah and it all being so soon?" Gag me.

  29. So I was driving to get my kids from school when something Christine said popped into my head.

She had always wanted to be the "Third wife."

    Not first, not second, etc.

Now, she also had known Papa Joe for "Years and years" and the fabulous sisterwives blog discovered that was because they were first cousins (a group numbering in the hundreds.)

What are the odds she originally had the Darger family in mind when she dreamed of being the third wife? :) I hunted around for the Christine/Kody wedding date and couldn't find it so clearly, I could be way off the mark here.

    1. What are the odds she originally had the Darger family in mind when she dreamed of being the third wife?

Well, Christine, unfortunately, has diarrhea of the mouth. While she says they have been friends with the Darger for years and years, one of the Darger wives said they have know the Browns for a couple of years. Being that the band that played at Kody's and Robyn's wedding reception belonged to a Darger son, I tend to believe the Darger wife (I think it was one of the twins).

The reason Christine has said she wanted to be the third wife was based on her experience growing up in polygamy: 1st wife is hard, 2nd wife is seen as the homebreaker of the 1st wife's marriage, 3rd wife comes in and bridges the gap between 1st and 2nd wife. In Christine's own words:

"When I decided that I was going to enter into a plural marriage, I knew that it would be only as a third wife. Even as a teenager, I was certain this was the path for me...The second wife has the hardest job and is put in the most uncomfortable position, because she’s the one who comes along and disrupts the marriage of the first wife and her husband...But the third wife— she’s the lucky one! She’s the one who comes along and makes peace between the first two wives. The third wife is in a blessed position. She doesn’t have to face marriage on her own without the help from sister wives or bear the burden of breaking up a previously monogamous couple."

    3. ALSO, it became clear that Christine wrongly ASS-U-MEd that third wife most likely meant "last and always most special/youngest/cutest wife" til death she did part. She was probably the only really happy wife of the 3 but then her mellow got harshed big time when Robyn came and messed the whole dynamic up for her. On top of that, she got robbed of her special "new baby" down time w/Kody after Truely because he was busy courtin', marryin', honeymoonin', boinki' Sobbin!

      Delete
    4. Yeah...I thought it would be a sad, but kind of funny backstory. Wasn't sure how likely it was. I thought I remembered someone here realizing that Christine and Joe were cousins so that she might have known who he was and so felt she had "known him for years" without he or his wife having a clue who she and her krew were. :)

    5. Are Christine and joe Dargar 1st cousins? I didn't know that. I thought maybe 2nd cousins, or some less close relationship? I don't think Christine or Joe Dargar would have married a 1st cousin.

I know, I know, the Dargar wives are related - but not that closely by blood to Joe!

      Delete
    6. i don't know if Christine and Joe are first cousins (doubtful as i'm sure Christine would definitely have mentioned that w/her "we've been good friends w/Dargers for a VERY VERY VERY long time" comment in the show) BUT fyi- in half the states it's completely legal to marry your FIRST cousin - w/no exceptions. A few more states - you can but w/some exceptions.

So, given the small small gene world of plygs anyway - it wouldn't be out of line for them to marry a first cousin - even legal or not in their own state. I think they probably all stop at a brother/sister line and maybe daughters?? but nonetheless, there's plenty of incestuous sexual abuse going on regarding those members - especially in the various closed plyg communities. Hopefully, none going on in the Darger/Brown families tho. But in all fairness, there's also enough of that to go around in non-plyg families as well. :(

    8. Christine would never have hooked up with Joe. He's an "Independent," which means AUB members would think him unworthy of their daughters. You have to remember that all these polygamist groups believe they are the one true "group" and that no one but them have the "authority" to perform their "marriages" and ordinances. AUB used to get mad about the Independent guys turning up at their dances and trying to poach women. As a result all members need a signed recommend from their bishop to get in to any events now.

Also they majorly glossed over the scandal Val's first husband was involved in. Something about stealing money I think. If they did that to a journalist, it would raise all kinds of red flags and there would be blood in the water attracting all the sharks. I liked them after reading their book. But then again, I had just read the Brown's book and the Darger's looked amazingly functional in comparison. In my evil little heart I hide the wish that someone would go rogue and write the "real" and "unauthorized" bio of the Dargers. I'm -well I can't sugarcoat it- I'm kinda mean like that.

    1. That show is sooooo fake and scripted.

Lottie Mae (0http://enquirer.com/editions/2003/02/07/loc_lottiemae07.html) was/is a big time scammer, it surprised me they let her out of jail so soon.

The thing with them is, any comment or critique they will immediately call racism or discrimination, while at the same time, they all have been to jail (often more than once). They even have this thing that if a woman touches a guy with a broom, that is a bad omen that the muskers [police] will come after him. What is to fear of the police if you don't do shady stuff? While of course there are also a lot of good gypsies - it seems that everything is ok for them to make a quick buck.

I watched the UK show when it came out (you can watch it on youtube), and let me tell you: they are very, very different. The girls really have to be virgins before marriage, they do not go out alone, they have to be chaperoned for real (on the US show that was just for the camera, will come to that in a second) and they do have strict family values.

However, the American gypsies portrayed on this show are different. They PRETEND to have these rules too, but obviously they don't. Mellie going out chaperoned with that Gorja guy had me laugh out loud.... They just try to make it seem they have these rules and morals too, but they obviously don't.

Nettie's current husband is like what, her forth, and her kids are from like 4 different guys (imposible with the uk gypsies, 1 in a million gets divorced and even less than that ever gets remarried)......... Mellie has been married before (there are rumors going around she's even been married twice). Her most recent marriage to Robby ended within a week, and she has had a whole string of boyfriends ever since...

Sorry for my ramble, but had to pitch in my 0.02

    2. The UK show is mostly about Irish Travelers. This group has totally different origins from the Roma/Romnichel that the Stanleys claim. The Roma trace their origins to India, and have colorful and unique traditions, rituals and taboos.

I've never been to a "Palm Reader" or "Spiritualist" but that is a major business for Roma women, even today. Some of the scams assoicated with this line of work are almost heartbreaking.

That said, the Stanleys don't hold many of the Roma traditions, though they are a very lively group compared to the Browns!

  31. OK I was in Maricopa County Jail for about 5 months. Got in to some trouble in my younger days. Anyways when you have court, the night before court you are taken between 10pm and midnight and transported to the 4th Ave jail holding rooms. Its the old jail that is only used for holding cells now. The actual women's jail is maybe 10miles away? (Guessing). When you are in jail your meals consist of a sack lunch with 2 sandwiches which you receive at 9am and slop a mixture of whatever served like soup at 6 pm. Now when you go to court you are given your sack lunch that night. So they don't have to worry about feeding you during court. I was transported a few times with a woman who was going through a trial and she went through this every night. I'm sure that Jodi Arias is not receiving special treatment and also is being put through this. I believe she is crazy and killed Travis, but that's just my opinion. Going through this every night has got to be extremely trying and exhausting. Especially when you are testifying. The 4th ave jail is old and disgusting. You are put in the old cells with nothing. And forced to spent the night. Sometimes they put so many girls in there it was standing room only. Imagine doing that all night long before a huge trial. I'm not saying we deserved the Ritz but it boreded on inhumane.

  37. I am going to have to disagree with some of you and say that I think Meri doesn't look that horrible in her dress except she should not be wearing tights/leggings with it. It's amazing how much thinner a person can look with the right styles and fit of clothing. They can go to some stores and the sales associates will act like personal shoppers and pick out clothing that will look nice on them at no extra expense. If her dress was one size larger, she didn't wear the tights/leggings, and wore just a cute pair of heeled sandals with it and cute jewelry she would have looked nice.

Not that I'm any fashionista, but looking at Meri's body type I think she'd look good in something like a slightly A-line skirt (or lightweight slacks with that don't hug the legs), a fun tank top, then a not-too-small 3/4 sleeve cardigan (left open), or a lightweight jacket (unbuttoned) along the lines of what Robyn wears. 40. Yep, pretty sure that is the dress.
Whatever the cost...$118 or $68...bottom line is Meri was clueless about how to wear it.
But it *is* a nice color on its own.

However, if Meri is getting a bit middle-age thick in the mid-section and fuller in the boobs (and hey, it happens to many women in that life cycle), that was definitely NOT the dress to wear.
If she was going to buy and wear that dress to compete with her new stripper galpal, the too tight bolero and absurd black leggings made it look ridiculous. It is likely that she put the bolero on to hide her upper arms as much as honoring their plyg dress code.

What is sad is that all four of the Brown wives *say* they subscribe to their version of plyg codes of conduct and apparel as they preach to their fans about who they are and why they went public.
Yet this move to LV and their crazy world of McMansions and public appearances (now apparently including Vegas club dates) and being stars on the show seems to be too much for them to handle.
They are like teenagers desperately trying to fit in with the "in group."

It's sad...and it surely brings their credibility into question on all levels.

  42. I apologize, I know this has been addressed, but where is the FB page fans here are going to that "closed" just for us?
If it is FB, is it a requirement for anyone in this closed group to keep and respect others privacy?

  43. Personally, I think if you LIKED your sister or cousin, it would be much better than sharing your man with a stranger. At least you'd LOVE your sister wives, and then children even more in my book.

There is a FB page, and the mods here have agreed to post an e-mail address shortly that will help you to contact the admin of that board. I can assure you that it is a private page, and there is no visibility of it outside the participants. None of us want anyone invading our privacy, so please feel free to check it out when the e-mail address is posted. In keeping with the rules of THIS board, only the mods here can post an e-mail address. They have been very helpful in getting a system set-up for the safety of all participants.

  45. This is sort of off topic, but some bloggers live in Las Vegas and I was curious about what it is like to live there. Thinking of moving and thought it might be a pretty as well as fun place to live. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Phoenix, but the climate is the same. Here's how to determine whether you'll like living in Las Vegas.

Pretend you are chocolate chip cookie dough. Roll yourself into a ball and pretend you're putting yourself in the oven. Turn it up high!!! Now, you think you're done baking, but you can't get out of the oven. Oh No! Someone turned the temperature even higher. You're past "done" . . . you're burned to a crisp. Ouch! Now, monsoon season is upon us, so pretend someone just dumped a gallon of water onto your burned carcass. Oh, and there will be a sand storm following the rain, so throw some sand on top of your soggy self. Now turn the oven even higher and stay there until you're screaming for mercy.

      That's life in Phoenix.

If you're going to Vegas, add in millions of tourists who have no idea where they're going, whether driving or walking. And lots of people out on the sidewalks trying to sell you tours and tickets to shows.

Does that give you an objective view of life in the desert? LOL.
