ADDED PIC! TLC Sister Wives - Coming up Short - bonus clip

I noticed TLC had put up this bonus clip. do you ever wonder how the business is going? they did make a good choice trying to make pieces more friendly to the average customer. Is it enough? Here the wives prepare for a jewelry expo to promote their new business. Will they have enough stock to get through the expo?
Let's explore this and anything Sister Wives. One more month before our first new polygamy show hits TLC!

ADDED! Janelle's Twitter Pic!

  1. Waaaahhh!!!! Why don't we have enough jewelry??? Why doesn't anything ever work out right???
I'm mad!!! Why can't these tables load themselves??? Where is Kody when we are loading up our vans???
You know Jerry Springer comes in in a hour and I did't want to miss this episode!!
If this doesn't work out I might actually have to go out and get a job and I'm not doing that!!!

  2. I am actually missing the show and wanting it to come back on to see the fun here. At least now we also have the new shows in Nov. and Jan.

  3. For a woman that claims to be such a neat freak, Mary sure has a junky looking garage. Seems to have a lot of excess stuff.

  4. My favorite comment was when Christine said, "I'm mad!"

Mad at the supplier for not providing the jewelry, or mad at the wife who is responsible for running the business because she was so busy getting her nails done that she didn't keep hounding the supplier - or finding a supplier who could keep up with the "demand"?

Pretty sure if you look up "clueless" in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of Robyn.

    1. Wonder how that little demonstration of anger towards their supplier will affect their business relationship? Hardly tactful to do that on national TV when he can't tell his side of the story. But these people never think of anything except overreaction, drama, and avoiding responsibility for the things that go wrong in their lives.

    2. Crimson hit the nail on the head "Waaaaaahhhh" is right! They are such whiners! The Brown's are likely not that special of clients to warrant their supplier dropping everything to get their order done in a big hurry. If they were selling so much jewelry, and ordering so much from him to keep their inventory stocked then he likely would be bending over backwards to accommodate them. The truth however is likely that they don't order that much nor do they order that often, they clearly don't plan. Whoever said it about Janelle not having a spread sheet with what they need is right, don't they work together on this stuff? Their are five of them can't they figure this out? It just shows how inept they all are...and Christine, 'I am mad!" wow, why would anyone want to deal with this?

Crimson - your comments echo my thoughts exactly... Such total cry babies. They have illusions they are going to make a fortune on the jooolry and nobody will have to get real jobs again... except mugging for the cameras and walking the red carpet with celebrities like Meatloaf.

Tick-Tock...how long before the TLC money is consumed and the next bankruptcies are filed? You just KNOW they're floating on credit by some means or another.

  7. What they're experiencing is nothing new or unusual for that type of business. I think the shock for them is realizing that people aren't enamoured by plig jewelry as it means nothing to them. Their customer base also hasn't seemed to be interested in wearing pieces that are special to each wife, nor is having the Kodster as the designer a big selling point for most women.

You would think Janell would have some sort of sales analysis showing what was selling to use in ordering more product.

Another factor they might be faced with is the producer not being willing to manufacter items in small batches, so they might have to order more than they need to keep costs down, or even be able to have them made at a reasonable price.

Once they get over the shock of realizing that what appeals to pligs doesn't appeal to 'normal' women, they may do okay if the are able to produce decent looking items at a reasonable price........

  9. Leave it to Kody to say, " so are WE doing a bunch of work for nothing?"
....Ummm, excuse me, but what does Kody actually do besides pretend to design some pieces & show up after everything has been loaded, unloaded, & set up?

  11. I thought for sure, they would have 1 of the rooms in Meri's big ass house reserved for an office/ supply room for their MSWC business. Geez really?? If u can put ur stuff all together from the edge of a day bed then they're most likely not selling a whole lot. I'm pretty sure they're probably gonna include that room she's sitting in & the garage as a tax write off...smh
Seriously Robyn saying the jeweler can't keep up with the Browns orders....Bwahahaha Thanks for the laugh, Robyn!! Besides I think we all know the real truth behind that statement. HA!!

  15. I believe no one knows when sister wives are coming back each season because they don't want to jump the gun. They are waiting for the court ruling todeep criminalize polygamy. Then they will have a big party ending the show. The Browns will have tons of money, because they will be paid by all the polygamy groups. That's why they put themselves out there like that to get legal problems so they could file suit against Utah. If they win they won't know what to do with their money. If u remember they had competition on who would be representing family. I don't know who remembers this but Joe Darger was blacked out in pics. So he could be anonymous I guess do to his job. Mark my words there will be big payoff at the end. But at the expense of his children.

    1. I'm not up on the court case. Are you saying they're suing the state of Utah for monetary damages as well as the right to practice polygamy? I would be very surprised if a jury awarded them more than $1 each....

As far as the jewelry business goes, I bet most of it is just to have a storyline for the show as their main income is from the show. I would be very surprised if TLC isn't using that as a large part of the plot line for the show now that no one is pregnant, and they all have nice homes.

  16. Are you telling me that Meri has that HUGE house and she doesn't have her merchandise in a shelving organizer, with a desk or large table to package the "stuff"....this was a joke to watch. They have been in this "joolery business" for at least over a year.......they looked so lost. WHAT....were they getting ready for a show for the first time! Get over this "joolery" storyline....BORING!!!! The EDITING on this show is a joke! There are plenty of other ideas of a storyline to go with.....figure it out WRITERS!!!

    1. My thoughts exactly. Meri has a massive house. Surely she could dedicate a space to the family business - laying out items on a daybed looked really unprofessional. Is that how she does her packaging too?

      Delete
    2. Again, as noted above by another ac4prez, that scene was at a rental house, so it is pretty old.

      Delete
    3. Agreed... "real" businesses need real business space. It seemed like things were either laid out on the daybed or in rubbermaid containers in the garage. I would imagine a real business would have proper shelving with everything labelled to ensure proper inventory control.

    4. The rental house had more than two bedrooms.

She isn't a neat freak. She Is a crafter and ad person who decorates with lots of stuff, remember Christmas. Has to go somewhere.

  17. The problem with that family is each other. Five adults that stress out about something and magnify the issues. I thought they hated the expos and I thought Christine was never going to go to another? They need to grow up, accept that beginning a business requires a lot of very hard work with very little return for the first couple of years. I'm sick of Kody acting like a whining child. If I were one of his wives (I thank you Lord Jesus that I am not) I would want a strong man, that takes control of the situation. Thank helps calm everybody, not get them riled up, or acts like he is wasting his time by trying to support his family. Koduche is a total loser.

    1. I agree Anon 1:55. They are completely unprepared for running a business. Why is it that every time we see the Browns, they are stressed out and unhappy? Why would anyone serious business person wait until they are packing up their vehicle to go to a trade show to announce to their business partners that they are desperately low on inventory? It's crap that it's all about exposure and getting your name out there. Yes, it's important to promote, but if you have people at a trade show/expo who have money burning a hole in their pockets you need to have inventory to sell to them. If you don't, they will spend their money on something else. I'm speaking from experience as I've run a successful business with my husband for over 15 years. We had to expand and have inventory on hand in order to be successful -- having customers come into our store and having us show them what we could get them resulted in the customers going to our competitors who had items in stock. Wishful thinking that Kody would ever do anything to calm the situation or actually support his wives.

  18. Just throwin this out there, but it would be nice to have some sort of re-watch post to discuss things that maybe we missed or are just now picking up because we have newer seasons to compare. I started a re-watch since there are 3 seasons on netflix and I wasn't the most avid viewer back when the show started so I've just noticed a lot of things I didn't before. I think it would be a lot easier to just have a place to comment, instead of having to go back to each and every episode. Thanks!

  19. Just some random thoughts here. I don't think anything that we see on TV regarding what they do to try to make money is real. Meaning, they didn't really do any of it thinking they would really make money, it's all pretend so they have a story line. The jewlery, was bought and conceived with the help of TLC producers. Any type of jewlery business take a bit of money to start, where did the money come from? Either their own TLC money, or TLC paid for their inventory. Lets be honest here, take away the TV show, and all they have is food stamps and bk's and a 9 to 5 job for Meri, Janelle and Kody. They didn't own companies but worked 9 to 5 jobs. They have money and time to start a business like that, because they are on TV, they would never have had that luxury if not for their luck landing a show. I also think that Kody has been trying long and hard to capalize on their plig lifesytle, He did that BBC documentary for $ and fame years before TLC to get his story out there so he would get a show, and it worked, maybe he's not as stupid as he seems. It's hard to know what their lives would really look like not, if they had never landed a show, I would venture to say it would be a totally different picture then it is now. The TLC gravey train dictates just about everything these people do, so look at it, accordingly!

    1. I agree that they would be different today. It seems they were functioning fairly well (as far as possible given the circumstances of polygamy) prior to obtaining Robyn for the show's beginning damatic storyline. Without the show, they would never have left Lehi nor their church community they were tied to there. Meri's power would still be in check due to Team Janelle and Christine and all 3 would be happier. Meri's sweet revenge w/Robyn joining her team against Janelle and Christine has ultimately bit her in the ass. Robyn's the only one who has come out on top here (so far anyway) and improved her prior single mother situation that she was incapable of handling.

      Delete
    2. LOL!!! Obtaining Robyn.

And I've always believed that they have $$$$ elsewhere. Either people are giving it to them privately or they do have other steady streams of $$$ like Kody has said. There has GOT to be No way they qualified for those mortgages without it!

  21. watching the episode of the Darger vacation, when the Darger wife was talking out when ger 5 month old daughter died, they were investigated. They feared the investigation and how it would affect their family, They didnt run to another state, or scare the crap out of their children, Now that family had a real investigation, not a made for tv investigation. Kody does mot like to be challenged. I think Logan left for his autonomy.

  22. Anonymous 1:40 AM, the only place a polygamist could run to would be to another polygamist colony, and if you aren't a part of the group, you wouldn't be welcome so that's out. From what I've read on the Mormon control over the state of Utah, I think a polygamist would fare better there than anywhere else because it's part of the history of the state. And you can bet that a lot of these state officials are the descendents of Mormon pioneers who practiced polygamy so it's part of their family history so it's more tolerated there than it would be in a non-Mormon state.

Pat Brown, I agree that the jewelry business is just a storyline, and I suspect that going to a trade show without adequate inventory will make for good TV when Kody tells everyone that they're polygamists and gets negative reactions. He'll be able to proclaim how he just wants to be allowed to live his life as he sees fit without being persecuted!! TLC will probably make sure they interview enough people to get some very negative comments about polygamists to feature just before Kody's plea for acceptance like they did with the first trade show.

  23. When the Browns got together with the Dargers for vacation, Joe mentioned how far apart some of the wives lived. Kody always said a mile, which I knew was a lie, Meri did not want to live in the area the other wives did, so her rent was actually higher for a smaller house because she was in a different subdivision and area. Notice Janelle had african american neighbors? she was ok with that, meri was not.

  24. I have a feeling they're selling more jewelry than they're letting on.

Also, their money issues? Completely made up. They're not doing things like selling the Lehi house, because they flat-out don't need the money.

Why don't the wives take distance learning classes if they are so concerned with covering child care?

This is for you, Christine and Robin.

  29. Was Robin's ex-husband compensated by TLC to stay out of the way, out of the picture as it were, for the duration of the television show? Perhaps paid off by Robin or the family to stay out of the way?

How long was Robin divorced before she started carrying on with Kody and crew?

How far in advance was the idea of a television program developed and pitched to all parties involved before filming commenced?

Has anyone interviewed the neighbors at the other end of the cul-de-sac for their take on the events on their street?

Thanks for commenting. If I lived in LV, I would volunteer to approach them, I'm just saying...!

    3. The "Sister Mary Incognito" schitick is an old school gay guy thing, but maybe Janelle is joking about being a sister wife. Nuns consider themselves all brides of Christ. But Kody=Christ connection is too sad to contemplate and I don't see too much deep thought in evidence with this bunch. Or maybe I'm over thinking this and it is just a fairly easy covered-up costume.

And Christine...Rosie the Riveter wears a blue shirt. Do you guys have to cut corners on everything? I mean..how hard is a lousy blue shirt?

Also, could you tell me who Christine Marie is? Christine wouldn't eat with her???
I could try to search the blog, but there might be way too many hits.

    4. I agree!! They really need to study the Golden Rule. They have no right to expect respect for their religion, when they have NO respect for anyone else's religion. It's a double standard. It's unacceptable.

  31. Oh... and Christine dressed up as Rosie the Riveter is sort of ironic too. This from the woman who decided after investing time (and probably $$) to become a real estate agent realizes that she would actually have to work to be a successful agent decides to drop the whole idea. Isn't Rosie supposed to be the ideal working mom?

She screened my call and decided I wasnt worth their business. I had 50k to put down on a down payment on a house mind you! I was not looking for a mansion though so I guess I was not worth her time. I also emailed at the Browns business web and the facebook store message area and never received a email back. I am fairly certain neither Janelle or Christine work at the realtor office. I know I would not be a huge commission but I was for sure a paying customer. I found another realtor who treated me like the quick commission I was as I put a offer on a house the first day and closed 2 weeks later. I guess they dont need a commission.

    1. That honestly doesn't surprise me. I think most of them now are arrogant. Their jewelry is overpriced and ugly... Once the show on TLC gets canceled, they won't be able to keep their McMansions and they will have to move to more modest accommodations... Let the foreclosures begin....

  34. I am at a loss they were dressed for Halloween correct? So what was wrong with the costumes? I see people dressed as literally everything from religious to super heroes. Is this not done in the area where you live? Confused.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I also agree with anon 747... I believe they have no REAL religious beliefs so Janelle making fun of a nun is of little concern. If she was actually from a very modest religious sect she would not dress as a nun or anything else for that matter. Having belonged to a conservative church most actual church members would not dress up or even celebrate Halloween. Do other FLDS or other polygamous groups dress and celebrate Halloween? If so I am not sure or aware of it. If you are eating nothing but beans probably not handing out too many sweet mini treats on Halloween.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anon 7:13 and 7:47 -- I'm OK with people who dress up as religious figures. Normally I would find it funny to dress up as a priest or nun and I'm Catholic. (In fact, at a party last year, a pregnant woman and her husband went as as a nun and priest and it was quite funny to see her with her huge baby bump). Halloween is supposed to be fun and people do dress up as many different things. I think I find the Janelle's costume annoying because they do talk about how they are persecuted because of their religious beliefs and how the general public doesn't understand or accept them. When they went to the trade show/gift fair in St. George they were appalled at they were being judged by everyone. They claim they were chased out of Utah because of their beliefs. This is the premise of their show -- how hard it is for them to practice their religion and be accepted. Because of this, I just feel that they should be more respectful of other people's religions. As I said, I personally am not offended by people dressing up as nuns and priests, but I'm sure that there are devout Catholics that may be offended. I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate it if someone dressed up in magic underwear. They can't have it both ways -- you can't take your religion really seriously, expect others to respect your beliefs and then mock other people's beliefs and religious symbols.

    1. Well said.

We have a comedian in Australia by the name of Chris Lilley. He writes and performs in his own TV series. The first series was titled, "We can be heroes" and it was about six very unlikely contenders for Australian of the year. All of them were played by Lilley. This year he is offending everybody with his mockumentary approach to private schools. He is playing a girl in her final year at private school - and the girl is a complete monster who has no idea just how bad she is. The star of the show is homophobic, racist, elitist, a bit of a slut, two faced, and completely open about all of it.

I would love to see Lilley take on the whole sister wives / polygamy thing. Trouble is, if he did dress up in prairie dresses and play both the husbands and several wives in a plyg family, there would be hell to play. I would love to see it, though. He would be able to handle the extreme double standard that Kristyn Decker and others speak about. He could play the control freak first wife a lot better than Meri.

Shame the polygamous mormons aren't an Australian cultural throwback.
