Update! TLC Video We Are A Family Discussion Page for 8/23/13 with a Couple of Tweets on the Side

Kody studying a copy of  Sales Careers For Dummies Meri checked out from the Las Vegas library

Strangely enough, the twitter chatter of Robyn has dried up, guess she's concentrating on her MSWC online business, or is out of town, or both. You never can tell with the Brown Krew.

And so far no public twitter activity from Aspyn yet, but according to the UNLV calendar, freshman dorm move in was Thursday, August 22. She's probably squeezing in one last Disneyland vacay before classes begin. Here's hoping we get some tweets with pictures of her moving into the dorm. Or will she be staying at home?

So what have the other adult Browns tweeted in the last couple of days this week?

Hmmmm.... let's see.....

Looks like Meri has finally left Mariah on her own to start her college experience. C'mon Mariah...I say your theme song should be  "Let's Go Crazy!" Yeah!
But before Meri could leave, looks like Mariah had electrical problems at her school. Blown fuse from too many irons and hairdryers going at the same time, perhaps?

Back home in Las Vegas, Meri tweeted back one of her dozens of fans!

Yeah, who knows. Meri might invite you for afternoon tea at her McMansion. Of course you'll have to buy her green koolaid but, hey, it's Meri for goodness sakes! Don't forget to sample her pastries on the wet bar!

Looks like now that Mariah's away at college, Meri has to rely on her fans to use their Hobby Lobby mobile app to find a huge letter M.

How much you want to bet Meri hurried on down to Hobby Lobby and got one to go in her entryway, just like Robyn's huge K&R!

On the other side of  the cuddle-sac, we hear from Janelle:

Oh Janelle, you just sent a million shivers down my spine. I know exactly what you mean, but watch out. You get one ledger to reconcile, 20 others will suddenly go out of balance!

But I'm guessing from this tweet that Janelle put her washer/dryer somewhere on the first floor,  and did not go for the optional 2nd floor laundry room:

Oh my gosh...who would ask for advice from Kody?
Well, I suppose proof of his sales ability would be that he has four wives...no wait...

Just when you think Kody couldn't go lower, he opens his mouth wide and puts Janelle's dirty  foot into it...
Nice Kody.  Just goes to show what an erudite fellow you are! So what is it, are you struggling or not? Don't tell me you were exaggerating when you said " I MAKE$$$$" in your last tweet on that topic.

I don't think we will ever get a straight answer from Kody.

And on the topic of MAKE$$$$, looks like Mykelti's going to be on Project Runway soon!

Good Job Mykelti! Show your parents how it's done!

Okay, I'm sensing some confusion over Aspyn and Mykelti.

Mykelti is enrolled in the High School program at College of Southern Nevada (CSN). This will be her senior year there.

Aspyn graduated Centennial High with Mariah. She took the tour with Logan at UNLV and has indicated she would be attending UNLV this year. Freshman dorm move in was on August 22.

Mykelti

Aspyn is on the left, Maddie on the right

and here's a pic of Aspyn's twitter page. Notice the UNLV under her username.

Aspyn is the blond wearing the cape and gown

Hope this clears up any confusion...
That's all for now...

  1. I'm so happy for Janelle - I didn't realize how out of shape she was, now able to carry a laundry basket up the stairs. Good for her!

    1. We love Janelle. She should leave that Plig group and find a man she doesn't have to share with 3 other women and all of their drama - especially Mary's...

    5. Here is a refresher on the Brown children and ages. Kody has only had 4 children in 10 yrs. He better hurry up, he's not getting any younger. He doesn't want his children to only know him with no hair (gasp**)

    6. Wow! I didn't realize all 3 of the ladies gave birth in one year (1995). That had to be stressful! At least in my world there would have been some jealous feelings going on! Pregnant women = Hormones gone crazy!

Paedon and Garrison are 15 if they were born in 1998. And I didn't realize that Mykelti and Madison were the same age. Mykelti seems so focused and in love with her career choice and shes not even out of high school! To me she's the one who amazes me the most. She's my favorite Brown kid! I said this on the last thread but I REALLY wish the adults would let her design for MSWC. She could design the clothes people have been asking for and I'm SURE they wouldn't be frumpy! Great way to help pay for design school too!

    8. Wow, Janelle sure popped four more humans out forthright! Four in almost as many years.

      Delete
    9. Just when I thought I had figured it out.....I know Aspyn and Mariah are off to college, but what about Madison? If they are all born in 1995, did they all graduate this year?

      Delete
    10. Madison and Mykelti are both seniors this school year. They will graduate 2014.

  3. I think Janelle is trying too hard to 'package' herself as the 'working' wife of the group. She is constantly saying things like she is a workaholic and how much her job means to her and now this ridiculous tweet about the thrill of reconciling? I am a CPA and yes it is rewarding when I get a balance sheet to reconcile, but that is hardly something I tweet about. It's an every day thing for me. I am suspicious of Janelle's motivations with her tweets. If she was succeeding at real estate (now at least one year later), wouldn't we have heard something? What exactly is she working so hard at that isn't visible to anyone?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. CPA Carol,
I was hoping you would chime in on this.
I am not an accountant, and surely not a CPA, but it hit me that way too.
I too got the impression that Janelle is really trying to push the "I am an accountant" fact. Why? Because the info about her gives that impression? Does she actually have a degree in accounting? Or did she take some accounting courses like many people do to round out a curriculum?

Was this latest tweet simply about *reconciling* her checkbook??
But was surely meant to suggest otherwise?

And yeah..almost a year later...does she or does she not have a legitimate job?
Another one of those now famous Brown murky areas loaded with innuendoes, but with no actual facts or proof.

      Delete
    2. Maybe that she's the one doing ALL the Brown family money accounting.
I want her to be tweeting some real sexy momma pictures soon! I do hope her has a metamorphosis into one and to feel great about herself.
40 is a great time to do that, too.

      Delete
    3. I think Janelle and Kody are very aware right now of the criticism of their bountiful lifestyle. Kody has been defensively tweeting about how he has multiple streams of income and now Janelle is tweeting about her great reconciling work day. First there was the finite resources theme of last year and Janelle upped the ante by saying she needed 'bread and butter' for her children. Since Janelle is a little more savvy than the other Brown adults, she tries to tweet occasionally about her 'job' and her 'crunching numbers' so as to let the viewers think there is some real 'work' going on. And her house tour about being a 'working girl' just reiterates that. I think they are doing fine financially and don't want people to be turned off by the relative ease in which they are affording these houses. I still think there is a benefactor behind the scenes.

      Delete
    4. I think Janelle was making more of a point about the software she was using than her ability. It sounded like she was happy it finally worked.

      Delete
    5. "I think they are doing fine financially and don't want people to be turned off by the relative ease in which they are affording these houses. I still think there is a benefactor behind the scenes. "

      Agree !!
And Kody was arrogant enough to state that fact on his recent tweet.

And if true, it means that all the many, never-ending episodes crying about money every way they could, including attempting to guilt people with sob stories in order to get them to buy their closet junk were and are just fabrications.
Just *made for TV* plot lines.

      Delete
    6. I don't think there is a benefactor, other than their usual TLC check.
In my opinion the builder financed a super low interest only payment plan, similar to what we saw with ARMs in the '00's. I remember all the stories in the media about people who bought homes that made way less than I do, were paying a small payment then it readjusted and they couldn't keep up so had to walk away.
I DO think the Browns are using their hefty TLC income to get their credit card limits increased, and using the businesses Brown Family Entertainment and MSWC to obtain more credit. Maybe paying more than the minimum each month to maintain those increases. Certainly they are spending more than they earn.
But eventually the truth will out at some point...then we will know. It might take awhile that's all.

One more thing - I believe that the entire fam thinks of filming the show as a job/work. So that might be what Janelle means. Certainly if she was doing RE for reals we'd have our Vegas folks here seeing her run open houses etc. even if the listing is under Mona. So far, nada.

      Delete
    7. I have wondered if maybe Janelle is doing book work for Mona. Maybe that is a good place to start until she gets the hang of things in the real estate business. They always seem so vague about what they are doing for money, I guess they think it is none of our business except the closet. With the closet, they need OPM which is other people's money. Are they not allowed to talk about LIV on the show, instead it is strategically placed where it is seen.

      Delete
    8. They better be careful mixing business and personal assets and loans or they'll end up like Teresa Guidice of RHONJ.

      --Real Sisters Rule!

      Delete
    9. But how else is she supposed to get the hang of the RE business if she doesn't work some open houses?

      Delete
    10. DJ, you are right. They want us to watch their show but it seems so many things we want to know are big secrets. Most of us have jobs but they aren't a big secret. I just don't get it, the show could be much more interesting if they would follow up on all the little tidbits they drop in front of us.

  4. I see why Robyn wants Janelle in the business. Otherwise, who would crunch the numbers? Not Robyn. She'd get STRESSED. I am so sick of her saying that word I made up something.
    S Sick of Robyn
T Time for a new baby, do your dang part to the planet!
E Everything she butchers a word, Drink!
S Sad for Janelle, she deserves more
S Sign right up and not get your joolry!

  5. Do you think maybe Janelle was carrying her dirty laundry from her downstairs bedroom to the washer/dryer upstairs? Since she turned the downstairs laundry room into a bathroom, the only other place you could put the W/D would be upstairs. That's just what I gather from looking at the floor plans. There is an option to turn the storage room next to Bedroom 2 into a laundry room.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I hope so. But I guess I'm lazy because I would NOT be lugging laundry up and down stairs. I would opt for BOTH laundry rooms!

      Delete
    2. As a mother of many, I would opt for the upstairs laundry. Why have all the kids lugging clothes back and forth? Much easier for Mom to take hers upstairs.

      Delete
    3. I would want it near the master. Make the kids carry their baskets of laundry to and from the laundry room, not me!

      Delete
    4. What's happened to laundry shoots-- basically a hole in the upstairs floor through which laundry was drooped onto a slide joining the downstairs wash. Then each child carries their own clean wash upstairs.

Returning sheets and towels to an upstairs closet is a good chore for a child or two. Sorry, Meri. Chores suck for empty nesters-- or wait, this could be a first paying job for a *bonus child* to earn Disney rides.

My kids worked their way up to their own clothes and bedding by high-school.

    5. Our family of 8 had a laundry chute (fun to go down too!) Mom gathered, did the laundry and it was all stacked on a shelf according to child, which we took upstairs. My mother was so organized :)

    6. We have a laundry chute in our house (built 1959) and my grandkids have TRIED to go down it, no way, it is way tooo dangerous. Anyway, I think new homes should have them! that is if they don't have the washer and dryer upstairs near the bedrooms.

  6. This is jumping back to the post this week of the TLC house walk-thru videos.

WHY did TLC put up Robyn's video? I think it cements her idiocy when she gave out clear and distinct clues as to their address. Do they not have any kind of PR person making sure that their privacy (maybe not to LV residents) is somewhat kept. At least for the kids.

I am in no way a stalker or someone who would use that info poorly, but geez. It took less than 60 minutes to find with google maps/satellite view and then to verify with street view. I've watched the show since the beginning and they give out the layout of the cul-de-sac etc. It's like the movie "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" they knew what the ancient temple looked like, but they didn't know where to search.

There are some creepy people out there. I'm not creepy, but I'm creeped out that this technology makes is so easy, and shame on TLC for posting that video as is. Just a few edits would have cleaned it up.

I was also shocked that Las Vegas is an endless sea of houses.

    1. Yes, Robyn reciting the geographic landmarks and relative positioning of the cuddlesac to the city was naiveté on her part. And celebrities usually hide behind trusts when making real estate purchases so their name is not associated with the property in public records.

That is precisely why SWB DOES NOT POST real-life information on the Browns. Unfortunately, the Browns themselves have made it too easy.

      Delete
    2. I thought Christine gave away a good clue also when she pointed out the name of the mountain they live near and then the camera panned over to it.

  7. So...I have to say, in the pic hugging Mariah, Meri doesn't look ALL that big... She looks rather normal to me. Not thin, but like most of the people you'd see on a daily basis. Not "bad" at all, per se.

Not sure if she's lost weight, or the other photos have just been unflattering, because standing facing to the side is actually not a particularly slimming pose for most people...and again, she doesn't look especially big there. Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I ALWAYS make sure I'm turned to the side when paparazzi are around...much more flattering. JUST KIDDING!! Actually I'm in the group of people where it's not slimming to turn to the side...due to too much junque in the trunk and the belly I'm afraid...

    2. To me, it wasn't their size, as much as the matching striped tops that caught my attention. I immediately thought of Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

      Delete
    3. More likely Tweedledum and Tweedledummer. (Oh, I guess that would me Meri and KODY!)

      Delete
    4. Not to put too fine a point on it, but what is so amazing about Mariah's accomplishments? She graduated from high school? She throws temper tantrums to beat the band?

She's normal. That's good. What the hell is wrong with Meri? Does she have to make EVERYTHING dramatic?

      Delete
    5. The horizontal stripes (IMO not flattering on their shapes), the heavy eyeliner (that makes their eyes look squinty), and their big ol' "butt chins" (what my sons used to call cleft chins). I'm glad Mariah's underway and that Meri is proud, but this is not the photo I'd throw out on the interwebs. Just sayin.

      Delete
    6. I truly think that Meri wearing clothes that actually fit her well in the photo make her look smaller. It's when someone wears very tight clothes that they typically look larger due to all the bulges and areas where the material pulls. JMO obviously, but I think it helped a lot in the photo.

      Delete
  8. Kody will love having just Meri to deal with every 4th day. Now it's time for Robyn to get pregnant in order to take those extra free days away. He stays with a birth mom more. Funny, we didn't see that with Christine. Maybe he likes to so he can have no sex. Anyone think of that?

Okay, this is a little unchaste of me to speculate about (will reclaim my purity as soon as I'm done posting) BUT: Personally I don't think he can possibly be having conjugal relations every night with each wife, I don't care how much LIV he's swilling. I'm sure this is part of why they never discuss sexual stuff,it would hurt feelings if everything was on the table about who was his "Break night" that week and got cuddles instead of cookies.

  12. I've always felt that they aren't having $$$ problems. Either someone somewhere is supplying them with $$$, or they have other sources of revenue that isn't shown on tv. They have too. My DH and I own 3 businesses. We have never ever had a problem getting a home loan or any type of loan, when we wanted. Now, we are - because our CPA writes everything off. And our credit score is 790 and 810 (unlike Sobbin). Our banker told us times have changed in the last few years and hands are being tied. Predatory lending on their loans or not, they have to show big $$$ on their tax returns.

    1. I remember when I bought my first house with my husband I was 23. I wasn't even working! But, because he was working, and my father and his were upstanding in the community, we got a loan by walking in. I'm sure many others remember those days. They are LONG GONE.

      Delete
    2. Yea they are. Which sucks for the few honest people who might not look great on paper but really could afford a mortgage and the other expenses that go a long with a home. My husband and I live in SD, Ca (please no mayor comments lol) Our rent for a ONE bed is $1225, no utilities included. I know if we had the opportunity to buy something in our price range (condo) we could have a mortgage of less then that. $800-$900. Sadly we wont qualify for a loan for maybe a few more years. Which makes me hate the Browns a lot. How did they do that with all those bankruptcies and no solid source of income? ps and I wouldn't be so picky! I don't need a wet bar or fancy things, just want to own something I can afford!

      Delete
    3. i agree that there is something not right about how they qualified fort he loans, especially robyn. because i remember mona saying that meri and kody would apply for a loan together, but the other 3 wives were going to be listed as single mothers. and i cant help but wonder how a single mother with debt and bad credit would qualify.

      Delete
    4. Or a single mother, Christine, who just filed bankruptcy in 2010.

      Delete
    5. When I was in a business law class a million years ago, we were taught that in some ways it is almost easier to get credit right after filing bankruptcy because you enter into a period where you can NOT file again for however many years so you are a better risk or something. Not sure if that still holds true but maybe it applies?

      Delete
    6. That isn't true in today's market. I work at a bank. Bankruptcy does matter.

      Delete
  13. Yes they are. According to people in the industry, they left between 3-5 years ago. Which tells me the Browns HAVE to be making $$$. They require 2 years returns. So if this all went down in the fall of 2012, they have to show what they made in years ending 2011 and 2010. Which means that they either have multiple sources of revenue like they say, or TLC is and has been paying them WAY more $$$ then what we realize. I've always wondered how they can afford cell phone and internet bills as well for what? 13 people? . For a family of 4, our cell phones are right at 400/month. That doesn't even include the home internet/router system. Clearly, they are making some good $$$ somewhere. Gas for all those trips? Even if they are comped hotel/food/Disney, (not saying they are) it still costs a lot in gas to get there....

    4. For folks who are new, here is an actual explanation of the Brown's relationship to the "Bad Polygamists". She is an actual close relative of Kody's and Christine's--and Robin's ex-husband (whose aunts were Meri's dad's wives). Her name is Rebecca Kimball-all the old timers on this blog know her and her sister. She is a little wacky about some things, but everything she says in this video is true. These "Good Polygamists" are all intermarried with every other fundamentalist group. This is an open access youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-TYNqqhXp0

  15. I am new to this blog. I am an attorney and live in Arizona.
I had the opportunity to see Kody a while back while he was in Arizona. He looks dirty to me. I am not trying to be mean, but he was in a restaurant. His hair was greasy, his clothes were not pressed and had spots on them. To me, he acts as if he is on drugs - with those eyes glaring at people.

If they have money, the obviously do not use it for clothes and hygiene.

I have read their past bankruptcies. People repeat filing bankruptcy because they do not change their habits in most cases. (there are some people that have to refile do to unforeseen medical expenses, loss of job, etc.) But I am willing to bet this family does not know what a savings account is. When the TLC gravy train leaves the station, the Browns will be deserted. Hopefully by this time, more of the older children will be out of the house so they will not have so many mouths to feed.

Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts.

I think 4 egos got out of hand over kitchens and autonomy , they had no concept of the ongoing costs..their past financial habits did not bode well for them. They are spending like they eat..i like Hobby Lobby..but wouldnt want to live in what meris house is starting to look like a craft store..and the twitter accts of meri and kody full of "people still laughing about the caramel scene?" was it that funny or are they trying to convince people they really do have a scense of humour?

  16. Hi everyone,

Been reading this blog for days. First time poster. I was wondering something about the Brownie crew's "new" homes. Was it ever determined if they actually did purchase the lots that were shown on the show earlier? I know there was some discussion about what lot#'s they were buying etc. Public records do show each wife in their respective homes now and Meri & Kody as a married couple in their own. Wasn't really surprised to see the $425,000+ price tags. Nor was I surprised to see that Meri's house was the most expensive.

Anyway, really enjoy reading here. Hope all have a great day!

    3. good grief...the name of that LLC was the name of the subdivision. So you're Kody Brown is a president of pinnacle homes that have been featured on the show? And those houses were the best he could do? I think that's a bit far fetched. please provide proof.

    4. Anon 3:14 I took a look and on ALL NINE LOTS, the same transfer entity was used. Yes it was an LLC but by its name its easy to determine it belonged to the developer of the culdesac. Kody's name was no where to be found. So I am asking for proof Kody is the President of that LLC too. Something tells me not to hold my breath while waiting.

This information is incorrect. The president of the LLC being referred to is actually the President of Pinnacle Corp - the developers of the cul-de-sac (and whose executives have been featured on Sister Wives). This information can be found in public records. Pinnacle Corp is listed as the Officers of the LLC.

  17. The SW Closet finally decided to respond to all those complaints on their FB page about not getting their budget joolery and being unable to contact them. In true SW fashion they decided to throw the blame on others.
Evidently it "specifically" states the trinkets take 1-2 weeks to ship and then it depends on what type of shipping the customer chooses. I guess that means everyone should open their wallets and spring for the more expensive fast shipping? As far as contacting them, they say the "host company" is having trouble getting the contact button to work! Hmmm...why don't they provide their own business email as a default?

This business is a sham and I really wish those devoted fans would stop buying things- they just get scolded for having legitimate complaints.

    1. Like it is sooo hard to throw up a gmail email account specific for MSWC (which they should have anyway). And 2 weeks for Meri to slip the item into a box, sign the 4x6 glossy picture, hopefully enclose an invoice, and send it on its way? I don't THINK so!

I also don't think their customers are asking for MSWC to compete with a mail/internet juggernaut like Amazon for example...but...damn!! Can't they even pretend to be running a legit business?

Don't they realize how all the comments pointing to their non existent customer care (except if it's a comment saying how quickly the item was shipped and how beautiful it is blah blah blah)will come back to bite them in the end...no matter how many they delete?

And there were one too many comments complaining how the customer's credit card was billed and the item was still not received 3-4 weeks later! Eventually those devoted fans will move on to the next TLC show and the rest of us will know better than to give that business our credit card numbers!

    2. I know Cynical...why are they billing customers weeks before they get around to shipping the items? I loved the whole "host company" excuse too-(even though I have no idea what that means). Guess the sisters don't want to be bothered with a business email or phone...yikes!

    3. BC and CJ, I had taken off of SW for about a year or so because I was just so nauseated by the Browns. I started watching again this season, and am even more nauseated--but of course, it's so hard to turn away from this trainwreck!!

I so agree with you about every aspect of this whole deal, as I generally agree with you both. I can't figure out how they have not already moved on after an entire year of this! The most baffling and unfortunate aspect of this whole thing is that so few of their rabid fans who waited and waited for their orders are NOT irate (not counting those posts they have deleted, of course). Even the people who are trying to make returns--and are being ignored--still seem to be making excuses for them.

Most of those sheep actually brag that they got "personalized letters" explaining the long wait time. I find it hard to believe that their quality control is that stringent--that they refused an entire shipment--when the "Be"-line items in the pix shown on facebook actually have obvious mold flaws. Customers who are begging for prices on gold jewelry (which should cost roughly 2 and a half to 3 times sterling) are being ignored--and the same people keep asking, after they were flat-out ignored :/ I don't get it!!

      Delete
    4. why are they billing customers weeks before they get around to shipping the items?

Maybe their credit with the manufacturer is so poor that they're required to pay for the product when it's ordered. Either that, or they're clueless about how good, ethical businesses treat their customers, or... they're just greedy.

I read many of your posts and you turned me on to this. So, yes, my darling CPA, because of your delightful posts, I purchased the first season on Amazon through the streaming video option. Yet another thing to take up my time, lol. I am sure you get my sense of humor. Anyhow, in all seriousness, I think they should have used one of those families, rather that the Brown crew, to show the viewer what this is all about. 19. I have a new theory on the Brown financial situation. I think they do have money and lots of it (either a benefactor or TLC or one of them won the lottery (ha) or something. ) Let’s face it, their lives are dramatically different than say, the Cawleys on Polygamy USA, who are similar in size. 3 of the 4 adult Cawleys have jobs. They have about the same number of children. The Cawleys are scraping by and rationing apple sauce and spreading out to storage containers. Meanwhile, the Browns, with vague, multiple streams of income, are going on trips, have 4 huge new houses and have 3 kids in college. Tell me that this doesn’t stink to high heaven.

Janelle, realizing that the show must be ‘relatable’ to average viewers, constantly talks about finite resources, needing bread and butter for her kids, etc. They come up with valid ways they can make money but somehow these ideas don’t gel . The real estate thing was probably part of a deal with TMI realty (Mona) and now Christine has an “out” by saying she can’t work weekends because of her kids. Kody, for the tv audience, suggests she get more involved with MSWC. Given the amount of time they have spent talking about MSWC, I am now becoming convinced that this is all a cover story/sham that keeps the audience think they are trying to make a living while actually generating huge tax write offs. Robyn and Meri tinker around with the ‘business’ but really don’t spend much time on it. They price themselves out of the market on the iconic jewelry. The numerous trips to Disney, Utah and Wyoming are documentation that they have plenty of money to be traveling and now they also have 3 children in college and one going to a specialized design school in Utah. They are now getting some backlash from viewers and are defensive talking about all their streams of income but we know that MSWC is a bust, Janelle hasn’t sold a single house and even if the MLM is making money, no way is it making that kind of money. I know we aren’t speculating any more what they are making from TLC but someone sold their soul to the devil because the math (even with Janelle’s great reconciliation abilities) just doesn’t add up.

I totally agree, CPA. There has to be finanical support coming from someone or somewhere. Even though I think that someone who comments here at SWB and is very familiar with the AUB has said they don't think it's coming from them. I still wonderm though. If the Browns are going to be the new face of Polygamy and openly discuss their connection to the AUB, wouldn't you as an organization, want the best representation possible?

It's either that, or Krody has ties to the Mafia. :)

    2. I doubt the family is paying for much of the college costs. It's loans and money they earn.

I really hope they have the resources to own the homes outright.

Sounds like janelle is doing accounting. So there is a job for one of them. The show is a job. I do agree if they had tons of cash it would be a security risk to mention it.

I wonder if the tithe to their church or maybe have stopped since relocating and not being participants in that congregation? I wonder if they write off one home as a business and one as a church? I hope they are listening to a professional as to what they can and can't do with that sort of thing.

I think all the kids have shown something positive about themselves. I hope the family is proud of the kids. They make the family look better.

    3. These days they're making money and enjoy spending it. Why they chose to share all the trips, McMansions, etc, with the public then turn around & keep insisting they are destitute, persecuted plygs is what baffles me. They really should cancel a few Disney trips & hire a good PR person...although it's probably too late at this point!

    4. Someone close to the situation said that Kody's father either sold land or mortgaged his ranch after the move to Vegas. Then, multiple benefactors provided some cash. Now they use credit cards and rely on TLC income to move debt around.

  20. Just now I was on the Darger's website and I saw an advertisement for an online shop that caters to Mormon polygamists. Hmm. This sort of shores up an idea I have had about My Sister Wife's Closet, and their designs. The Browns' designs are very specific to polygamy, and aren't going to appeal to people beyond polygamists and rabid SW fans. Once the show is gone, the SW fans will go away, but the polygamists will still be around. I think the Browns realize this. This is why I don't think they care that their designs do not have a broad appeal. They aren't meant to. They are meant to have a narrow, definite appeal, a niche market that will be around long after the show is cancelled.

    1. Thanks for the tip Sister Kolobster. I just checked out the polygamy store on the Darger's website out of curiosity. Pretty much just their book and handmade crafts. It says that the store's purpose is to offer an outlet for the polygamist community to sell their products. No link to MSWC though, and the Browns are supposed to be such good friends of the Dargers. Seems like their might be a bit of competition between the families there.

I'm a bit behind but I just wanted to say that I really love Christine's home, it is by far my favorite in terms of my style.

As far as my opinion on the family, I enjoy them at times and others I could really benefit from turning off the TV rather than yelling at it. I find Meri and Mariah very childish at times. I often wonder if they would be any different had Meri been able to have more children. Jenelle and Christine fall under an enjoyable category. I like their personalities and feel like they could really thrive without being under the wings of kody and Meri. In the opening when Christine says she has always wanted a family not just a man, I don't doubt her for a second, however she should have picked a better man to share a family with. I hope the best for those 2 and I honestly hope they keep raising great kids. As for Robyn, I am always feeling like she is trying. Trying to be the 4th wife, trying to be accepted in the family, trying to go out of her way to push herself into a family that seemed to have been complete. I'm not even sure why Kody needed to bring her into the family they had. Plus during her home tour all I heard the whole time was "family this, family that".. I get it girl, but if you have to try this hard maybe you should re-evaluate why you are around.

    1. Maybe I am wrong but is it really appropriate for Robyn to have the large K and J displayed in her home. I thought the whole thing is that they are "ALL" one big happy family. Seems odd to me that she did that. That is something a monogamous couple would have.

  23. This just in from monstersandcritics:

    What's Robyn's secret?

The only wife of Kody who isn't toting an extra 50+ pounds will share her planting the flag tale on the next polygamist potboiler "Sister Wives." Even the kids are porking up on this show. They need to go on the Tisanoreica diet with SYTYCD star Mary Murphy.

In hopes of establishing their new homes, the family decides to bury a time capsule to symbolize putting down their roots. With this new goal in mind, they also hold their first church service since moving in and Robyn reveals a shocking secret from her past.

    “Robyn’s Secret” – Premieres Sunday, August 25 at 9PM (ET/PT)

TLC’s hit series SISTER WIVES is back for a fourth season following America’s favorite polygamist family as they navigate the twists and turns of living an openly plural marriage. SISTER WIVES premieres Sunday, July 21 at 9 PM (ET/PT).

After living in separate rental homes for the past two years, the Browns are one step closer to fulfilling their dream of being together under one roof, moving into four adjacent houses in the same neighborhood. But now they have four large mortgages and a struggling start-up jewelry business. Meanwhile, Meri finally decides on whether or not to accept Robyn’s offer to be her surrogate, but will Kody agree with her decision? And as more kids prepare to leave the nest, Kody and the wives have a surprise in store that will rebuild the closeness the family once shared back in Utah.

  25. Things I have learned from watching Sister Wives
    1. Polygamy has something vaguely to do with the AUB Religion.
    2. If you decide to visit an AUB church do not take a male relative or significant other as all men are considered fair game by all the single ladies.
    3. If you do want to find a husband at an AUB church make sure it is a man with several wives and many children as he has already been proven.
    4. No right to bare arms.
    5. Go on a national TV show and watch your husband compliment a wife while making hurtful comments about you. Like he wasn’t attracted to you or didn’t like the way you ate nachos.
    6. A polygamist man can accept stepchildren because all his children are treated like stepchildren. If he is visiting a wife and doesn’t like the way another wife’s children are acting he sends them home to their mother.
    7. If you do a couch interview and you are asked a question one of the other wives (usually the weeping one) will butt in and answer the question or contribute her opinion.
    8. Try to get the position of first wife or youngest wife. The first wife has power and the youngest wife gets the attention.
    9. Never be pregnant at the same time your husband is courting another wife. Or you will be ignored.
    10. Be prepared to never express your true feelings since this would upset the family.
    11. If you go on a national TV show you might as well make your house out of glass because you will be made fun of and criticized for all the idiotic things you say and do on TV by people who don’t know you.
    12. Polygamy as an alternate lifestyle doesn’t work. At least not after the first TV season.

  27. Watched the "We are a Family" clip that CJ posted, and if the viewers need any more proof that the Browns and TLC are reading the blogs, this nails it.

1- A time capsule to be opened in *FIVE* years.
Ha !! A blatant middle finger salute to all the naysayers who believe that the Vegas cuddle-sec Kodyworld won't make it to the conventional mortgages.
(That is, IF there even are any mortgages....and who really knows?)

2- An obviously heavily-scripted mini-film time-capsule bit to be archived that could guarantee a "Where Are They Now" documentary in 5 years....even if they wind up are back in their Lehi, Utah habatrail house.

3- Once again, Sobbin gets to be center stage as the clip begins, telling her tale of woe yet again. And once again the other three wives sit there stone-faced, staring straight ahead while Sobbin rambles on.
Getting to be a pattern, isn't it?!

4- A very few clips of the kids collecting their contributions for the time capsule includes of all kids, Hunter, the much maligned (and blog defended) son who incurred Sobbin's wrath early on for not being thrilled to have yet another mom. And who dared to say that he thought they already had enough kids.

5- And the predictable finale of Kodyboy letting his harem lovingly poke fun at his doofus ways. Oh, what fun, what rib-tickling humor !!

I wasn't at all surprised with what Mariah said. Everyone has that one family member that contradicts all the others. Usually, its on purpose. I've picked that up from her a long time ago. And while I also believe the mission statement is a bit unnecessary, she could have said that in a way that was a little less nasty. I wonder if this "mission statement" has more to do with Christine needing to find an outlet. Its evident shes somewhat depressed and this could be something to keep her mind busy and focused on something other than the crap she deals with.

      Delete
    2. I agree with what Mariah said..I think it is dumb too. They never even thought of it until the Dargers had one and then they have to copy their idea. By the time they come up with one it will be twenty pages long with all the ideas. No wonder Janelle was frustrated with all the time it was taking.

      Delete
    3. Yes, this is one time I agree with Mariah, too. I thought her comment was dead on. This mission statement idea is just an attempt to keep up with the Dargers. Not that the Dargers are anything special.

    6. Mission statements for families are very popular among LDS. It's in a number of the parenting books these folks read begining in high school. Some don't tackle it until their kids are old enough to participate. People delay things, not surprising. Life is like that.
The whole goal of living is to get back to heaven and get the family back there as well. You got to grow as a person to get that planet in the hereafter. So Familly is a serious business. I think Mariah didn't like it cause it was christine and not her mother who is excited about it. Unlike the business all the adults need to be on board with it. The kids don't really have to. But it should be attempted to include them. Just a way to be respectful. If they continue to not be interested have the adults do something.

And then when I saw it "empty" I was confused as to why it wasn't sold or rented out, and if they were even continuing to pay on it.

  31. 'Family Mission Statement' scenes are always downers. Janelle looks bored witless, most are too stupid to even Get It, teenagers openly mock it. Christine has drunk the plyg koolaid and acts more like a moonie (cult fanatic) all the time. Ever since she chose not to see a regular therapist for her problems because polygamists are terrified somebody who is not one of them might talk them out of the lifestyle, she has become too manic gung-ho polygamy family. She even said in a couch session something about wouldn't it have been awful if somebody had encouraged her to leave because everything is so wonderful-wonderful now. Apparently her medication (beware of meds that mess with brain chemicals) has squashed her discontent but believe me, it's still down in her, festering. I do get that she is good with children. She could run a daycare and contribute meaningfully to society but no, she's chosen to waste her life on Kody's excessive breeding with multiple women. Really, Brown family, your DNA is not that special...

  40. From what I understood from the Dargers explaining their mission statement to the Browns is that they did it EARLY ON and only AMONGST THE ADULTS to decided and agree upon a standard of "all on the same page" re:their agreed upon parenting. So, to me the Browns have gotten it wrong and screwed it up from the get-go by including ALL the kids input in it now and it's just one big clusterfetch w/adults vs. kids in charge of how it's gonna be. Again, the Browns still haven't grasped the HUGE GLARING difference between their family and the Dargers is that Papa Joe's in charge and running the ship w/his shipmate wives towing the line and Meri's in charge of the Browns w/all her messed up emotions, low self-esteem and jealousy running amok in full force at all times. Thus, the train wreck disaster continues on and Kody continues to flit from bed to bed trying to get his groove back on.

    1. That was my thought as well. None of the kids - not one - understood what "mission statement" means.

    2. It's a bit much to expect children to be involved in the mission statement. DakotaJustice -- you're absolutely right the kids (not even the older ones) understand what a mission statement is. Many adults have difficulties with creating mission and vision statements -- many companies hire consultants for this for that reason. Would make way more sense for the adults to come up with the mission statement and explain it to the children. Or if they feel they must include them, just ask them for two words that they feel describes their family. When mission statements are created in companies, you NEVER have the entire company in a room trying to figure it out. You solicit opinions and input separately and then have the key players massage the information and look for re-occurring ideas an themes. The mission statement is created by those key players and then presented to everyone.

    3. That said, I think it's a complete waste of time. You either know what your values and mission as a family is or you don't. I know it's just something for TLC to film because without the mission statement, the surrogacy, and the drama about whether or not they get the McMansions the Browns are actually quite boring.

I would be more than happy to see more of the interactions between the wives. I enjoyed that one episode where they all spent an evening out together in Vegas -- except for Kody's never ending phone calls. I don't need made-up drama. What drew me to the show in the first place was finding out how the wives could get along and it was fun watching all the kids -- please TLC if you're reading this blog, let's get back to that!

  41. How can Kody say out loud and on film, he has no sons, they are all dead to him. Does he not know Las Vegas is mostly rock and digging a hole is not like digging a hole in Utah for the poor dog. And burying a cooler to be opened in 5 years, how nuts. That is not a true time capsule.

  42. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think Robyn's confession might be along the lines of bullying. Maybe she was really awful to a girl she considered "slutty" and spent years trying to make it right (aka not be a bitch?). Who knows? But I could definitely see that in her, she's snarky but I also think she's super aware of how her words affect others. Either way, I'm anxious to see. At this point I don't care what it is as long as it's not her virginity!

  43. Watching that time capsule video and Meri and Robyn laughing AT Kody again, he can't get his boys out to help him dig the hole, etc. I'm reminded once again how Kody really is the Rodney Dangerfield of polygamy - "I'm telling ya - I never get no respect!" hah! so true.

(i can imagine if Papa Joe watches the show, he must constantly mutter "what a schmuck")

  44. ah, Christine - the forever rose-colored optimist regardless of the reality smack she gets hit in the face with constantly about the highly dysfunctional family she's a part of. still a'pinin' for that "mission statement" that's gonna fix it all. and why would that be buried in a time capsule? wouldn't it be something that you'd have out the whole time as a constant reminder of what you're striving for and not just bury it for 5 years to re-check it then?

i also didn't get why Aurora's going to bury an already outdated kindergarten picture of herself. isn't that about 5 years old already to begin with?? why wouldn't someone suggest to her to bury a CURRENT pic of herself to look at 5 years later?

for once i agree with Mariah - ALL things considered now, the family mission statement IS a stupid idea for them as well as the way they're going about it. that's why it's not happening. duh!!

  45. Given the percentage difference, the prices on the houses is essentially the same.

  46. I hope that they bury some of their inventory from MSWC. Maybe it will age gracefully or they can have a good laugh about the pieces in 5 years.

    1. Well, Meri just tweeted that she buried the original cladaugh ring that Kody gave her- clearly, it is a thing of value to her, what with her burying it in a cooler in the back yard.

    1. Considering how this family lives and taking into consideration their past history of moving and overall shortsightedness... 5 years must seem like what the rest of us consider a lifetime (the normal time frame to bury a time capsule).

    2. People who don't plan for tomorrow probably see 5 years as a lifetime.

    3. They are probably hoping that the show will still exist in 5 years so there will be an episode where they unearth the time capsule.

  48. Christine has the right idea about that ridics mission statement. "I wish we actually had it done now so we could just bury it." HAH! Do any of the people ever listen to themselves??

    1. Unfortunately, that's what will happen to their mission statement. After hours of working on it, it will just get forgotten.

  49. I just thought of an idea if they run out of crazy hooks to keep us watching:

Don't forget to enter our new contest on Sister Wives. The winner gets to be Kody's next wife. You might even get to be his favorite. Remember: You must submit copies of your bank statements and full length pictures.

Disclaimer: Winner is responsible for all moving and relocation costs, taxes, and wedding fees. On the last 3 shows of the season you, the viewers, will get to call in and cast your vote for the new sister wife. The new sister wife will be revealed at the beginning of the next season.

Don't forget our Friends Who Care Share Program where you can pledge your dollars to help Christine get more books for her lie-berry, Sobbin to get clothes and diapers for Solomon, and Kody to get highlights in his hair. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

    1. I've never seen so many people run from a contest in my life! LOL

I kept falling asleep during tonight's show. I had the hardest time listening to Sobbin' whimper about her lost virginity. Between feeling nauseous at the thought and wishing she'd realize that everything we do in life brings us to the point where we are. You wish away your actions, you wish away your beautiful children. I wouldn't trade my children for anything, no matter how big of a douche bag their father was. Sobbin needs to quit wallowing in the despair of her former life and see her children for the blessing they are. I don't know what the kids thought of that unconventional sermon but Aurora look horrified a few times, I think I saw Mykelti roll her eyes.
