From TLC -
I've been taught my whole life that I would go to hell if I left, so I really do believe it...
BREAKING THE FAITH shares the story of eight young men and women who are trying to build a new life outside of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (known as the FLDS) – either by choice, or by force. For the young men known as “lost boys”, these cast-outs are looking for a fresh start after being kicked out of their homes. Meanwhile, the women are escaping the controlling ways of their faith – including arranged marriage and a life of complete submission, known as "keeping sweet" – hoping for a better life on the outside. Leaving a world where every decision was made for them, they are now dealing with the challenges of living in a reality where they are now responsible for every move they make. And, for this group, being faced with making life-altering choices in their effort to win their freedom comes with the fear that consequences for leaving the compound will come without warning.
We will be Watching Nov 24th
I'll be watching!
ReplyDeleteYIPPPEEE!!!! I am so happy to finally see the truth about polygamy!!! NO more "We're so happy, sob, sob" Browns!!!
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see both sides now represented.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Gwen, but you know the Klowns will continue to try to claim they are vastly different from the FLDS. Thank goodness there has been enough discussion about what the AUB is for SW blog readers to know the truth.
ReplyDeleteI wish these young people the best, and hope that TLC doesn't stage the show like they do with most of their reality TV shows. I don't watch the Amish shows, but I've seen several articles about how fake they are. These FLDS kids don't need a bunch of fake plot lines--they've been through enough to give the show interest if they just present the facts and let them speak for themselves.
ReplyDeleteWatched some of the trailers. Of course I will be watching, however I'm much more interested to see Flora Jessops show this December. This show already reminds me of Breaking Amish. I already feel like some of the scenes are re-enacted and cut and pasted together. Its still unbelievable to me that cameras would be allowed on FLDS soil let alone inside any of the houses. As I believe there is a scene showing one of the girls looking at pictures on the family wall...Not after reading and seeing the stories brought here to SWB. I guess we'll just have to find out. I just hope these people aren't prior runaways with experience outside the compund that live together in one house. Hopefully they keep this true....Obviously, I'm weary.
ReplyDeleteThe initial season will reportedly be six one-hour episodes and is produced for TLC by Hot Snakes Media, the same production company that brought us Breaking Amish. From TLC.
DeleteI saw this on Starcasm.net
Still, you never know, It may be a better show. Regardless, I'm still going to give it a try.
I just hope that this isn't another "Breaking Amish" -- that show was completely fake and the "characters" lied about the actual circumstances of their lives. To be honest, I'm not expecting this to be very much different.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope this is not similar to Breaking Amish that show was a joke.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted the Dargers and the Browns asking if they will watch Breaking the Faith and if they think it will force law enforcement to pay closer attention to the FLDS. Then asked if they are worried people will confuse them and the FLDS religion.
ReplyDeleteWill be interesting to see if / how they answer me.
I do hope you get an answer their opinions would be very interesting.
DeleteThe Dargers answered me, saying "We haven't caught up on Sister Wives yet." They are the only ones to answer but as we've found out, the Browns don't answer people unless it's a compliment on their jewelry or on something they've retweeted or posted.
DeleteI will be watching good or bad. Then I will be coming here to see what we can learn. This is the best part of all the shows!
ReplyDeleteI'm in!!
ReplyDeleteSam Brower is involved, should be interesting either way.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I don't trust many journalists anymore, but Sam Brower is an amazing man.
DeleteAgreed, Sam Brower is to be trusted
DeleteIt would be very interesting to find out if Flora Jessop, Kristyn Decker or any of the other ladies we know that escaped polygamy had knowledge of any of the people spotlighted in this show.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mister Sister could ask them?
I heard what some think of others, but it's often told with a "but don't put that in." I'll see what I can do!
DeleteI am going to give it a watch. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteI'll try again. Does anyone know the relationship to the brown group and Mindy Jessop??? She appears to live with possibly Robin and I have seen her in the Christmas episode when they are opening presents and in the purity speech episode.
ReplyDeleteI have also wondered about her. She seems to spend a lot of time there and especially seems to spend time with the teens (Maddie). I dont think that she is a potential wife, as she takes pic's with the Brown kids with major cleavage showing (huge, major, out there)
DeleteThis is the first I've heard of anyone named Mindy Jessop. Why do you think she lives with Robyn besides seeing her on the Christmas episode?
DeleteJust curious....
Are you not thinking of Robyn's step sister Taralyce Sullivan? Blonde hair?
DeleteI asked this question before and was told it was Taralyce but it isn't. This woman has darker hair and is heavier. She is kind of off to the side in some of the episodes and is definitely not Taralyce. She is also all over the Brown family twitters. She looks older then the girls, face wise over 30 years old for sure but she dresses like a teenager.
DeleteYou might check https://twitter.com/mindy_CJ66/media and see if this looks like the person. I'll double check if I get the chance.
DeleteYes that is her! She is in a few episodes and I wonder why they don't acknowledge her as she is obvious enough that a few people have noticed her. I have no idea who she is but she seems to be a big part of their family. I can't figure her out because she looks like she is pushing 40 with that face but she is always hanging out with the teenagers.
DeleteI believe that she was a Jessop that married a Carol. she was from Pinesdale.
DeleteI think she is one of Paul's kids. She went by Jessop, but that's what I am thinking.
DeleteHer mother is Lisa Sullivan Jessop. Paul's daughter. she is only about 30 I think.
DeleteI wondered who she was! so her mother is Lisa, and Paul's daughter or step daughter. Robyn's step sibling.
DeleteI'll definitely be watching, but I agree with the others talking about Breaking Amish. Those kids barely had Amish ties. It would be nice to see a REAL "reality" show come out of TLC, but I'm not sure they know how to make one.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely be watching! But, as some others have expressed I hope it's not like Breaking Amish. That show is fake, and those kids have barely any ties to the Amish faith. The abuse that FLDS members are escaping is not something to be made into a joke! I'd love to see a REAL "Reality Show" come out of TLC, but I'm not sure they know how to make one...
ReplyDeleteTLC producers need to watch the FIRST season of "The Real World" on MTV. Now THAT was a Reality Show!!!!!
I'd be fascinated to know what, if any, religions those that leave the FLDS adopt. Of course it's all personal and individual, and since we aren't even clear on what the Brown's believe, I doubt they'll go there. Breaking Amish was barely coherent on the matter. Still, I'd be curious. How many turn to the Mormon church, or become atheists or non-denominational Christians. My inner theology nerd is the only reason I bother with these shows. *sigh*.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I've been LDS all my life and I just discovered we are polygamists! HAHAHAHA
ReplyDeleteWERE polygamists...no one in the true LDS church practices polygamy anymore and hasn't for a long time.
DeleteI am looking forward to this show, but even more for Flora's show. My bets are that it will be much more authentic. i've never seen her do anything that wasn't. These 2 shows will make good comparisons.
ReplyDeleteWill be watching for sure,. I am learning so much about how reality shows are put together, and I find that very interesting.
ReplyDeleteTLC has to have the worst website ever. they do not promote the shows well. I checked the Sister Wives site while there checked the update page and it has items like Anderson Cooper up. No update in 2 years. They did the same with My 5 Wives. so little was up. It's a shame they try to do more with their site.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. You'd think someone that just learned how to do a website runs theirs. It's always a mess and so hard to find any information.
DeleteSam Brower sure has kept mum about this show.
ReplyDeleteI am watching!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the world today where ANY RELIGION OR FAITH is being turned into TRASHY SHOWS. :/ and am ashamed in people not wanting to DO THEIR RESEARCH THEMSELVES.
ReplyDeleteI'm LDS (very different from FLDS) and I think polygamists are completely brainwashed and insane. I feel so bad for these people... It's so perverted what goes on in their homes. I see them at Walmart sometimes. It's sad that they are so used to people staring at them, but I'm a bit disgusted by their behavior/beliefs, and hope these kids the best!!
ReplyDeleteI hope this show gets rid of my sister wives.
ReplyDeleteI am going to assume that the Browns had their commitment ceremony this weekend. Sean and Rev Dani posted a pic all dressed up with Kody in the background with a suit. Either they recommitted or someone else got married (?)
ReplyDeleteoh yeah, they definitely had their ceremony! just saw on their hairdressers twitter "Crazy busy day,but it was perfect.Thank you for allowing me to be a part.."
ReplyDelete
