SPOILER!! Discussion Page for Sister Wives New Season S06Ep01: Picking Up the Pieces

The first episode is looking like there won't be any earth shattering events this season. For instance, who really believed Robyn's vanity online store was going to be an immediate success? Besides Kody, Meri and Robyn, that is. My advice? LOWER THOSE OUTRAGEOUS PRICES AND HAVE SOME SALES AND INCENTIVES LIKE 10 - 25% OFF FOR HOLIDAYS. And Robyn, if you think of your sister wives as free labor for your business, think again. You have the business acumen of a Kody Brown.

And who still doesn't know that Kody and his Ko-dypendents moved into those overpriced McMansions in the cul-de-sac?

Oh...and Janelle said that MSWC has to be successful because they can't afford another loss. We know about their past bad business ventures, but this sounds more recent. Hmmm...I wonder what it is <cough> LIV <cough><cough>....

Okay, that's all I'm gonna say until my review. Except that Christine's comments were BRUTAL!

This discussion area IS ONLY  for those who have watched Episode 1 of the new season on On Demand, or don't mind being spoiled. Please stay on topic! Comments comparing Polygamy USA with this episode of Sister Wives are OK.

  1. Meri talks to Robyn about the whole surrogacy thing. On king Sol's 1yr. birthday. It appears that Meri is still leaving Robyn hanging and has yet to make up her mind.
IMOHO, Meri is holding Robyn's womb hostage. The longer she holds out on her decision, the longer Robyn and Kody have to wait to have kids of their own.
The whole time Meri is whining about what she wants to do about it, it can clearly be seen, a white broad magnet on her fridge door (at her house) with the word ME written and underlined 3 times. whoa!! who does that?

    1. Looking more closely, it's a series of 3 magnets that together say "Free To Be Me." I can see a lot of people putting up a magnet or picture or whatever sort of crafty thing that says that - I don't think it's a big deal.

  2. OMG I had to actually REWIND the whole MSWC bit. the lack of enthusiasm by everyone EXCEPT Robyn was palpable. Even Meri couldn't whip up much. she just wanted to get there, get set up, get through it and get the F out.

Robyn is a pretty shitty businesswoman. and PLEASE they knew what St. George was gonna be like. And Kody saying "the really COOL guys in the Old Testament had multiple wives..." yeah and look how that turned out. most of the time it was just problems. I do note that the coolest guy in the OT (IMO) was Moses and he had ONE wife. woot!

"Don't thump your Bible at me!" um yeah Kody, that's exactly what YOU'RE doing. please.

7 pieces and they (or at least Robyn) thought they'd sell 120 pieces. LOL It is to laugh. You could tell that Janelle and Christine SO didn't want to be there. And Kody I think thought they'd sell just because they were "celebrities". also, didn't someone mention when we discussed this IRL earlier that Kody was hawking his LIV crap too?

    1. OK gotta love the scene where the obviously-moderately-interested "customers" couldn't even show real enthusiasm. "I gotta go to the ATM and get some money" and ...POOF! gone forever.

Of course i'm sure she knew she was being filmed and wanted to make a good appearance. Robyn thinks WAY too highly of her "marketing skills".

    2. DJ, I read your comment on TWOP about seeing the new ep On Demand, and got a fit of girlish giggles cause I couldn't get my hands on the remote fast enough. Then, my hopes were dashed cause DIRECTV isn't offering it On Demand. I cried a little.

    3. Omg I'm sorry :(
That said, I did the same giggly thing when I read it here yesterday...it's not the show as much as the opportunity for the snark fest to begin a week early...lol

    4. Actually I think Moses had two wives.

But it is true that the Old Testament patriarchs' polygamy caused nothing but problems for them. Case in point: ahem, SOLOMON. Solomon fell out of favor with God because of the negative influence of his MANY WIVES, who distracted him from God and caused him to commit idolatry. Bet you forgot that part, Robyn!

  3. I can't believe they can make a show out of this lame stuff.

Janelle looks totally stressed out about the finite resources. It sounds like finding mortgage money may be a monthly crisis.

Meri is so self-centered I can't stand it. She needs to get in and get it done--her time is too valuable to be wasted! (Unlike these other losers was her implication IMO)

I can't believe these people are relying on a sucker public to make them rich. And those houses--they are huge!

Also, the time lapse is ridiculous. There were Halloween decorations on that table!

    1. I wonder, did they think about the fact that they have to pay mortgage MONTHLY on all 4 houses? I have a gut feeling all Kody thought about was just signing the contract moving in and that's it. I don't think he looked beyond those 30 days.

I mean, do they have a plan on paying the mortgage? Is the SW check enough to cover the mortgages?

What do they pay the mortgages with?

I can very well imagine every month around mortgage time it means crisis. I wonder if there is a hierarchy regarding the payments. I wonder if Kody _demands_ Meri's (and his!!!) mortgage be paid first. I mean, besides the show, perhaps Christines and Janelles job and rent money from the Lehi house, where do they get money from (other than wrecking up credit card debts)? I can only imagine how janelle must feel "having to" turn over her paycheck to pay Meri's, Robyn's etc mortgage.
Also, there's the taxes, the HOA fee, the water, electricity, phone/internet/tv, gas bills, plus maintenance her and there. Food, cleaning supplies, clothes etc... How do they pay these things now? How do they think they can pay these things in the future?

Kody's delusional bunch might think the show last forever, the merchandise might bring in enough, some rich CP plyg might step in, because, after all, they are public and "fighting" for plyg rights. Or they may think at some point some modern rebellious daughter of a rich plyg may have received his name for marriage and it's all sunshine and lollipops from there?!

      Delete
    2. I don't think Kody looks beyond the next week...

But he doesn't have to cos he's KEWL like those Old Testament dudes.

    3. Yeah, it seems like their 15 minutes is winding down now. I feel so bad for Janelle! She seems to be the one busting her buns to keep this family above water! Kristine seems a bit too into her self for me. Meri is just selfish and controlling and Robyn...geeze, she's just a waste of air! I bet they don't make it a year past when TLC finally pulls the plug on them. Hopefully, that will be sooner than later!

      Delete
    4. Totally agree on all points, except I do like the show, even if it's lame, lol. The time lapse is ridiculous!

  5. Have to say this.
We may rag on the Brown's a lot, but to our credit I don't think any of us have ever used the word "hate"
A woman actually said "I hate them" on camera. SHAME on her!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I thought she was referring to plygs in general and not the Browns. I could be wrong tho.

      Delete
    2. The Browns are clearly visible behind her. She knew who she was talking about. She is entitled to her opinion. I just don't agree with her using the word "HATE"
She knew the Brown's were behind her when she said it.

    3. And shame on the editing staff who chose to include that comment.
Ans also, was that comment taken out of context?
Either way, imho, it shouldn't have been aired.

    4. i watched the segment again just now. the name of the woman who was being interviewed was "Susan". and bits were interspersed between other women who were interviewed (apparently being asked about their views on polygamy in general):
"I have no respect for them whatsoever...I think that there's a lot of really creepy things that go on there..."

(cut to Kody and wives on the couch talking about how persecuted they are blah blah)
(another lady stating that she thinks what they are teaching the kids is wrong)
(Kody stating that he's sick of standing cap in hand asking for "their" approval)
(other lady stating she thinks he's controlling)
(Kody stating that it's an easy lifestyle to defend spiritually)

Susan again "Polygamy is not a religion...it is a domineering, creepy way for old men to marry young women."

(cut to Kody saying he's tired of people thumping their bibles at him etc)
(another woman "pam" stating she's LDS and they haven't believed in polygamy for a long time but not now)
(Kody stating that all the cool guys in the old testament had more than one wife and Jesus never condemned those guys)

Susan again "I hate them...(laughs)...that's all..."

So to me - she was talking about polygamy in general. Kody and the wives are pretty close in age, even Robyn is what, 10, 11 years younger than Kody which is within the norm. She wasn't referring to the Browns, and we don't know what questions they were asked, but I think it was just their views on polygamy in general not specifically about the browns, and they just cut and pasted to go with Kody's remarks.

  6. "And Kody saying "the really COOL guys in the Old Testament had multiple wives..."

And this statement really shows what a colossal, immature ass Kody is !!

It is all about "being COOL".....
    He is pathetic!!!

    1. He said that with a straight face? Does this guy know the story of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar? The result of that arrangement was jealousy, and Abraham casting Hagar and Ishmael out into the desert to probably die because Sarah couldn't keep sweet. But man, that was WAY COOL! Kody is an asshat. There, I said it. He is either willfully ignorant or incredibly obtuse, and just about every time he opens his mouth I'm embarrassed for him.

    2. Lauralee, you summed it up perfectly "Kody is an asshat". YES!

  7. Well, once I realized that I might be able to get the newest episode on demand, of course I had to watch it. What a lame excuse for an episode! With all the "coming up next" bits, I felt like I saw some scenes at least three times! Not to mention all the clips from previous shows.

In the 80s & 90s, I sold my artwork at various shows, and set up many booth variations. Theirs seemed cluttered and crowded, and didn't leave much space for customers. And who wants to be accosted by Robyn's pathetic sales pitch?

Many of us have already commented on how expensive the jewelry is - not the kind of thing that people come to an expo prepared to buy on impulse. Also, the designs are pretty specific to Sister Wives. I would think that most people who might be inclined to part with that much cash would want something that would be more personal and relevant to their own lives. It is hard to believe that Robyn, Meri and Kody could be so naive about this project being a significant money maker. I think that Janelle and Christine have been skeptical from the get go.

I think this episode was a real time waster - certainly not a good way to hook viewers into wanting more. Thank goodness for fast forward on the demand view. Even so, it seemed like a lot of time with very little content. I doubt that there will be another season after this one - though I hope we'll be able to find updated "news" on the Internet as the "family" falls apart.

    1. I have not been able to see the episode yet, so I can't comment on the cuntent though I can very well predict it and I am sure that 80% I have already seen in other "seasons".

What I wanted to say is that, for the past few season, we always said this HAS to be the last season. This is so bad, this can't last another season. Yet there always is a next season lol. Like weeds in the garden it never ceases to exist. (Unless of course they had a multiple season contract and they are just fulfilling their obligation).

    2. when i saw pictures of their expo in Vegas on facebook I commented then that their set up was poorly planned and looked way to cluttered..lights...yard sale looking crap all distracted from the goods. They have learned nothing.
Christine is very smart and observant...she should throw herself into real estate for her own salvation.

      Delete
    3. That's an excellent point - when I attend shows/expos like this I go expecting to find deals. Why they didn't just offer a "show special" is beyond me - I'm sure the other vendors were.

      Delete
    4. Kodi will never allow MSWC to offer a "show special" because he thinks it's kewl to steal every bit of money from his adoring fans. He has to do that to keep from having to work at a real job.

  9. Just have to add a comment about Kody saying he was angry with society for the lack of acceptance and support for his family's goals.
Really Kody, you are angry with society ??!!
That is, you are angry with the folks who have contributed with "their" hard-earned and *paid* taxes" to all YOUR numerous bankruptcy debts and government handouts. "You" are angry !?!?

Also find it interesting that they show a clip of Sobbin saying that they *needed* the mega houses adjacent to each other because within a year most if not all of the older kids would be graduating from HS and off to college and that the kids would *need* a place to call home. Then later they show Mattie and Logan saying that the parents' expectation that all the kids will go to the local college and live at home....."just isn't going to happen!"

As for the lottery in the last thread about when Sobbin would start the tears, it was impossible to judge. Since every clip was repeated at least two times in this episode, suffice to say that Sobbing was whining and sniff, sniff/downcast in *every* clip.
    She is one depressing sista.

And if St. George is a town of mostly Mormons who are not user-friendly with Plygs, then why did they go there to sell there oh, so blatantly Plyg jewelry??

And why was Sobbin so uncomfortable and surprised that everyone around the area was staring at them all while they set up?
Hmm, could it be because the onlookers were engaged in watching all the camera and sound crews filming the Kodettes and their display. Ya think??

    1. Omg - excellent point. My mom and dad couldn't WAIT to downsize from the 5 bedroom 3.5 bath house after all us kids left. They now have a 3 bedroom 2 bath bungalow. Nice but easy to maintain. In fact my sister and her husband downsized from a big ass house to a 2 bedroom apartment. Easy to maintain and still a spare bedroom for when their 2 kids come to visit! There ya go.

    2. Excellent point, amused, re Kody's anger at being judged by society. The same society that they financially abused with all their bankruptcies, use of food stamps, etc.

I'm stunned that they STILL haven't wrapped up the Meri baby decision storyline. Come on!!! And I'm completely floored that not one of the 5 adults, as of the taping of the show, was holding down a real job. What honestly do some of them do all day? Insane.

  10. I began to wonder why there is no mention of LIV International by name by Kody or any of the wives on the show, even though they did show the car he supposedly "won" as a prize for sales or something a couple seasons ago. So I googled this company, and it's obviously some marketing scam/MLM thingy selling diet pills and related crap. Is he even still selling for them? It just makes me wonder if there is any particular reason that they never talk about this company as being a source of "income," if we can even call it that, but they talk about MSWC like it's some big business venture that is going to pay all the mortgages for the next 30 years. Also, have Christine or Janelle sold any real estate yet? That might help with their massive bills that are probably piling up by now. That being said, I think they should take less focus off of this jewelry website and focus on all of their "jobs" since they aren't fooling anybody here! Any rational human being is going to question how the heck they pay their bills from one or two tiny businesses! Give us the real deal! I feel duped!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I just don't think TLC wants them to give free advertising to a Herbalife/Amway kind of club.
They have mentioned it on the show, though not by name. On the show the call it the "marketing company.

      Delete
    2. You are right that the Browns never mentioned LIV by name on the show, but they usually had a bottle of the green koolaid prominently displayed in several episodes. In the beginning, Meri was constantly tweeting for people to "join their team" but those tweets mostly have died out this past year, leading me to think this business venture is close to reaching its conclusion with them as partners.

      Delete
    3. ".....and focus on all of their "jobs" since they aren't fooling anybody here! Any rational human being is going to question how the heck they pay their bills from one or two tiny businesses!"

This show is never going to show the real deal about this group of con artists.
From the very start of their phony mad dash exodus out of Utah, the show has become one sham after another. Once they and the producers entered into that contrived premise, and then some curious viewers began googling their background finances and public legal files, it was obvious that the Browns are, and were, not what they seemed to be.

For me, the entertainment factor since then has been watching just how far they will go to stay on the air.

However, this "new" episode is just a collection of warmed-up leftovers. To even revisit the stale lend-a womb topic between Meri and Sobbin proves just how desperate they are. That premise should NOT be used as ratings bait. It is an insult to those legitimate people who have gone that almost sacred path of helping others.

Just like going to St. George, a known anti-Plyg area, and trolling for on-camera negative comments about their lifestyle was just one more ploy for ratings. I hope the folks who agreed to be filmed signed releases that stipulate that their words were not to be creatively edited.

    4. Neither Janelle nor Christine have sold or even represented any sellers. They have to compete with a lot of other, established, experienced realtors. No matter how much their real estate lady Mona likes them, she's not about to give them any of her commissions - she has to make a living too.
At this point they are just glorified admins who passed their state RE tests. Period. Not a guarantee of ANYTHING.
And regarding LIV - I'm with CJ that they've played that out. Typical for MLM participation - a year or two at best. I wonder how long Kody's been paying the lease on that "free" car...??

      Delete
    5. Amused - I thought the Browns going to St George was akin to Prop 8 supporters going to San Francisco to sell their wares in the Castro during Pride Week. Although now with the prop being overturned (YAY!) they'd just get laughed at mostly. Lol
And no I don't think plyg is the equivalent of same sex marriage at all, at all...for one, none of the MANY same sex couples I know are out to fleece the government - quite the contrary.

      Delete
    6. With all the free advertising Mona the real estate lady has gotten the last couple of years I'd think she would be happy to carry Janelle and Christine on her payroll as ' celebrity greeters ' at open houses. Mona 's a businesswoman who not only sold 4 McMansions in a down market but finagled her way to appear in almost every episode. Free advertising.

I can't wait for episode 2 to see her wearing that cute yellow hardhat!! <>

      Delete
    7. Oh greeters yeah, but actually selling and having listings in their name...unless a person selling a home specifically asks for them...no.

Yup you can see how powerful their celebrity is because they sold 7 whole pieces at the expo! Woot!!!
It must burn Kodys britches to see Mama June and HBB selling thousands of boxes of GS cookies on the strength of their recognition. Lol

      Delete
    8. I agree, CJ.
It was obvious last year that she not only finagled the sales and helped to get them approved, but was more than willing to have SW themselves on the books and on-site as a tourist attraction.
Mona is no fool, she has worked this thing to her advantage.

      Delete
    9. I have to say I am kind of surprised they didn't sell more with their jewelry from people who are fans or may actually like them for whatever reasons. People with public recognition generally do better at selling items-I think how poorly their line has done says a lot about how terrible the product, price, advertisement, and quality really is. OUCH.

The Brown's should have opened a small coffee or doughnut shop or something in Vegas and had all the family members work at it til they started making a profit if they were serious about going into business. It would have cost more to set up, but would have actually had a chance. I know this is Brown's we are talking about, but they really didn't think they were going to make money off their little jewelry site, did they?

I can actually see people asking for Janelle or Christine to show them houses, I really can. I hope they get involved in real estate, once they sell a few houses they will start getting good word of mouth. Everyone has to start from somewhere. Who sees Christine handing over her commission to help Robyn pay her mortgage? I don't.

      Delete
    10. Maybe people will ask Janelle or Christine to show them a home. but it's up to the seller to select who they want to have sell their house, and they'll want the person with the most experience to get them the most money.

I think CJ is right and their basic job is to help out at open houses etc. I know at least one Realtor who has several open houses on the same Sunday so obviously he cant be at all the homes at once. so he needs helpers.

      Delete
    11. The agent selling the house and the agent who showed the house split the fee....Otherwise, agents would have no reason to sell homes TO people, just FOR people..

      Delete
  11. I think we could magic up a gif of Janelle in her workout clothes doing the "I told you so" dance. She was against the jewelries from the get-go and I think they would have been better off opening a fitness center/gym (with a reasonable membership fee, etc.)

I would imagine that LIV HQ has strict guidelines regarding marketing and promotion of their product. The higher ups probably don't want their product associated with the show. Or perhaps TLC has rules about that.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Are you kidding me - LIV would probably love to have their crap advertised for free. That's the reason they signed up the Browns to begin with - if that's the best they can do for celebrity spokespeople, then they're doing pretty shitty. I think it's TLC putting the kibosh on the promo. They even cover up the Apple logo on the OBVIOUS Mac.

    2. "I think it's TLC putting the kibosh on the promo. They even cover up the Apple logo on the OBVIOUS Mac."

      Ha !! True, true !!

    3. That's right, turtlegirl, Janelle was against the closet idea from the get-go! That they all listened to Robyn, instead of the only one in the group with some business sense, was lame. And I think if I heard Janelle correctly in the meeting, she was saying in order to just recoup their costs for doing the trade show, they'd need to sell over 100 pieces. That's not a profit, it was just to recover their cost. Do the math, people!!! 5 adults and 17 children's mouths to feed, 4 giant mortgages, etc, etc, etc, and Robyn has them sinking $$$ into this silly jewelry business. Insane.

      Delete
    4. I still have my doubts about Janelle's purported business chops. They've yet to show evidence of one single successful business. She basically kept a job and made sure the bills were paid (and did a rather sorry job of that since they've all had to file bankruptcy...)
Shit - I've worked full time since the age of 20, and I've been with the same employer for more than 13 years and my bills are paid but that doesn't make ***me*** Suze Orman.

      Delete
    5. It is a mystery to me too why Janelle has gotten the label as the financial brains of the crew. Because as you say, DJ, if that was true, then their history proves otherwise.

To be fair, if she was the only wife earning a paycheck back in Lehi, she would have needed to have a more than decent salary to cover all their bases. And from all accounts, she wasn't making a large salary.
But...there was only ONE house, there were no daycare costs which is a huge part of the average family's budget. There were food stamps, bankruptcies and whatever other supplemental bennies some of them were receiving, including Kody's on-again, off-again salary.

And in the two years since leaving Utah, Janelle has not gotten a job. People seem to think she is an accounting whiz...if so, why didn't she use her skills and get a job? Her kids were all in school.
And Kody and Meri had absolutely no reason to not look for jobs.
Unless.....the TLC money was simply that lavish??

To watch this crew rack up 2 million dollars in house costs last year and then to hear Janelle now saying that she is (as usual) worried about money and paying her mortgage...It's hard to find sympathy.
If she didn't want the jewelry business, what was stopping her from getting a job and letting the others do the Closet.

Janelle *being worried about money* does not necessarily equate to Janelle being shrewd about money.

      Delete
    6. But you have to admit if you compare Janelle to Kody, Meri AND Robyn, she's got all three of them beat when it comes to financial smarts....which isn't saying much. I've always felt she was totally gaga over Kody...no matter what harebrained scheme he'd come up with, she would support him (hence bankruptcies, quitting her job, moving to Vegas). And I think the reason NONE of them have gotten legitimate jobs is because they still have that lawsuit pending in Utah. I only wish the Utah judge would subpoena their financial records since the move to Vegas. I think they have dropped A TON money into LIV and MSWC.

      Delete
    7. You're right !! Janelle does at least speak as if she has a clue and sense of reality about money and debt. The fact that she would follow Kody into an abyss is her choice.

You bring up an intriguing point about the Utah lawsuit still pending, and the possibility of that being the reason for them not wanting documented income after the move.
If so, I wonder if that is their chosen strategy or the advice of a lawyer?

      Delete
    8. Well their TLC income is documented, so I don't understand why they couldn't have another job?

      Delete
  12. The difference in the past designs and the new designs is huge. Its obvious they were done by someone else. If the jewelry is so important to their income why did it take so long to come up with a new and improved closet? and new designs? Mariah crying that she has to be in the house by Christmas is so overplayed...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Janelle needs to get an accounting job. There must be plenty of them in Vegas with all the casinos. Meri needs to get herself a JOB. What is her excuse? She is an empty nester and will have a lot of time on her hands.

Even in Centennial Park the women work. The Duggars are training their daughters to be midwives. Christine should watch all the younger kids and then Robyn could get herself a job and do her jewelry in her spare time, instead of spending all day on Pinterest.

    1. But the major difference between Kody's world and Centennial Park is the men of Centennial Park don't prance around like a peacock with ADHD, showing off his four wives and his four pairs of running shoes and very soon his four ridiculously overpriced McMansions.

Or.....since Sobbin is the one with the youngest child, perhaps she should be the stay-at-home wife watching the little ones.
Speaking of which, there are only *two* kids not in school now.
      Sol and Truely.

Amen! How many pre-school aged children have they got anyway? Sol, Truly (sp??)- are there any others?

    4. I would bet that Janelle does have a job. She wrote in their book a few years ago that she was working for some family members or friends doing accounting. I wouldn't be surprised if she is working under the table and wants to keep it quiet. Or maybe she does the brokering or books for Mona.

Now, I don't see why Meri and Robyn, and most importantly Kody all don't have full time, hourly jobs. They better get them soon or they're going to lose those fancy new houses.

They are the strangest people, who buys 4 new mcmansions depending on a cheap jewelry line that isn't selling to make the payments.

    5. Robin's sister was there as the 'nanny' anyway. If they aren't staying home to take care of their kids, then why can't her sister watch Truely and Sol, while Christine and Robin work?

And Meri has virtually NO excuse. Yes, I'm sorry that she wanted 7 or 8 children and wasn't able to have them. I really am. I know many women who have problems with fertility and it's heartbreaking. I think she should 1)be grateful she has one child, there are many women who would love to have been able to experience pregnancy and childbirth even once. and 2) either pee or get off the pot on the surrogacy thing. It's not fair to Robin (who I don't like particularly but really, it's not) to hold her womb 'hostage' for the last 2 years while Meri flips and flops and can't decide. and finally 3)Either step up and watch the babies while Robin and Christin get jobs, or go get one herself. She seemed to enjoy her job back in Utah. Why can't she do the same type thing again? Some sort of counseling at a teen crisis thing wasn't it?

I'm all for moms being stay at home moms. I am one myself. But see, I don't have four houses that I didn't need and couldn't afford to pay for. I'm not living way beyond my means with 17 children to support. (is it 17? or 18? I've lost count) Obviously you *can* have that many children and have a stay at home mom, the Duggars do it (and before anyone says 'well they live off the show': they have been debt free for years before they went on the television, they've never been on gov't assistance and Michelle, while she does hold a real estate license, has never worked outside the home. They don't live beyond the means they have *at that time*, and they have no debt. They did build their own house, and yes, they did take the offer from TLC to finish it off in exchange for another special (hey, can't blame them there. She was pregnant and probably dying to get into the new, bigger house) Their house is debt free, and not a mini mansion. I may not love everything they do, but money wise, they've got the right idea)

This 'family' is a joke now, sadly. I"m sure the older kids see the difference in the way they had it when they were young and how it now. They made the worst mistake of their lives moving to Las Vegas. Their best bet would be sell the mini mansions, move back to the Lehi house, BEG for their old jobs back and build on a wing for Robin.

    7. I believe Robyn's sister left Vegas because she wasn't really shown at all in last season. I know there were comments saying she had moved on to another state last year. And I don't think Taralyce ever babysat Truely for Christine - that was Christine's main complaint when she was studying to take the test again that none of the sisterwives offered to take care of Truely.

    9. I know that a lot of people think the Browns should have "regular" jobs like the rest of us...either hourly or salaried. But, that doesn't necessarily bother me. I don't need to see them punching a clock. Heck, even Joe Darger admits on his blog that they could not support their family on hourly jobs. What I WOULD like to see is the Browns having SUCCESSFUL non-traditional jobs...like oh, say, the Dargers. Joe has had his own business for a while (although I get the impression he just changed things up), and one of the wives has a business cleaning homes/offices, while the stay at home wife does the books. So, again, I don't necessarily have a need for the Browns to work in the same way I do...but just to do something that isn't a loser idea from the beginning, a get rich quick scheme, etc. Just because you have a non-traditional (i.e. non hourly, non salaried job) doesn't mean you aren't working your ass off...AND, if you choose to go that route, you need to choose something to do that isn't God-awful stupid!!

      Delete
    10. I've said that before, too, Anon 9:51. I've done some quick math and I don't think they could half support themselves on a 9-5 (or even 9-9) job X 3 adults. Even if you include book sales, tv show, other revenue streams.

I honestly think that they get chunks of money that come in and they spend as to what they have on the day.

But I don't think they REALLY have enough money to meet their day to day expenses sort term or long term and I agree that they need to be busting their butts as a team at something other than an online jewellery store.

They did sent me a coupon code for a limited time offer, but no... it did not entice me to buy. ;-)

    11. Serena,

I'm not sure Janelle could get a job right now in Vegas at a casino. Anyone employed at a casino has an extensive financial background check run because of the access to money.

Also many regular employers are running financial checks because they feel a person's credit rating gives them valuable insight into the person's reliability. I truly think the multiple bankruptcies have hurt them in that way. Of course we don't know whether any of them have even looked for jobs....

    3. Well she has her kids...lol

I wonder how much they've had to invest in inventory? They said they had 120 pieces to sell and since they LOOOVE to say how everything is made in the good ol US of A I'm sure they paid thru the nose for all that crap - I can see it now - Robyn's garage and craft room jammed with unsold jewelry, ornaments, and aprons...and Kody/Meri's garage equally crammed with LIV product that they are required to purchase to keep their car. Neither of which will sell until the Ginormous Plyg Garage Sale.

    4. I figure Kody told Robyn to have 100 of the most expensive item (that $300 necklace she was trying to sell to that girl) and only 100 of the $20 Christmas ornament, which sold out - and then like idiots AFTER CHRISTMAS HAD COME AND GONE they ordered another 150, which they still had 124 left in inventory on 3/19/13. If memory serves me, a number of items were sold out after the St George visit, so if only 17 pieces were sold, she must not have a lot of the other items in her inventory.

Hello Robyn...if your 'customer' tells you she has to leave to get money from the bank SHE'S TELLING YOU THAT CRAP IS TOO EXPENSIVE!

  15. The episode was depressing---no one seemed happy. I do not understand why they cannot see the obvious---the MSWC will not work in the general marketplace because the items for sale are not only narrow in scope but they celebrate a lifestyle that the vast majority of people will not support. I would be very fearful if I had those mortgages staring me in the face each month.

    2. That's the point they don't seem to get . . not enough people relate to their lifestyle and want expensive jewelry that celebrates THEIR beliefs. Robin kept pointing out how the jewelry was designed as a Christmas gift for her sister wife, and who else would want this crummy stuff as a gift? Was it Janelle who said "I don't care if we all have to work three jobs to pay for these houses" HA - I was thinking that would be the day! These people have no common sense.

    3. While watching again, I noted how Christine (whose nose is awfully red...allergies?) kept pointing out to the two ladies in leis how women who are friends like to call themselves "sister wives" (they also say that on the website). And the ladies are looking at her like "uhnnnnhhhh yeah..."

Maybe it's just *me* but I have never ever heard of women friends using that term. And based on what I've seen on this show and PUSA - I'm not sure it's much of a compliment.

      Delete
    4. I've heard it one time...I had friends who lived in married student housing at a small private religious college for a couple of years. They lived in and out of each others pockets to the point that they called each other "sisterwives" in an ironic sense. However, those ladies seemed to function really well! They shared childcare and food with each other, and all of the wives worked full time while their husbands were attending school! So we had nurses and teachers bringing home money while husbands studied and raised kids, and couples watching kids and carpooling for each other so that finite resources could stretch farther and couples could have some much needed alone time.

Seems like the ironically named sisterwives who were all just friends in a married students dorm could teach real sister wives a thing or to about how to do this thing!

    6. After watching CP I feel even more like the Browns don't understand their own belief. That is when I inquired about the ornaments because I had seen it on their website and figured they would have it at the show since it was a "Holiday" craft show. That's when Kody chimed in and said they were sold out, but that I could probably find one on eBay, but it would more than likely be priced higher than the original price. I was like "ok". Then Janelle mentioned that they were in the process of having more made and my first thought was "Why? By the time the have them available Christmas will have come and gone." Oh well, I tried.

  16. What ever happened to the clothing and other items they were talking about selling? Things besides jewelry? For months they have only had that apron available for purchase on MSWC other than the necklaces, etc. Was that ever really something they were planning on selling, or just some kind of tease to keep people going to their website? I guess if the jewelry isn't selling well they wouldn't have much money to produce other products to sell other than jewelry. I find it hard to believe that any of them thought that selling maybe 10 different pieces of plyg jewelry online would rake in the cash needed to support 17 children, several of whom are starting college in the near future, as well as $2 million in house payments. I noticed they are now selling a pair of earrings, even though on Twitter they have stated that they do not wear earrings. Robyn in the beginning before marrying Kody wore earrings but no longer does. I wonder if that is a family modesty sort of thing?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not wearing earrings now, was probably a stipulation for Sobbin' getting into the AUB temple/endowment house to be "sealed" to Kody. LaMoine Jenson, leader of the AUB, ruled that pierced ears are not acceptable.

      Delete
    2. The thing about the apron and other promised clothing items is that IF, and we know that they did or do, read SWB, our own twisted sister posted loads of ideas in the last year which they could have used to do their own thing on their site to generate more items and profits.
And free of consulting fees too !!

But again, we always come back to this realization...
This IS Kodyworld we're talking about...
A private little world where common sense and prudence are in very limited supply.

      Delete
    3. I think they are probably overextended in inventory. In order to have new items on their site they would need to pay to have them made. Those aprons probably cost $5 apiece depending on how many they ordered, and I'm betting they have a garage full of 'em.

    4. Agree. I think it's obvious they've over-extended on inventory. I mean, how long have they been running "last chance" sales for the 2012 ornaments...?!

    5. Amused I was thinking about just that - the shirts and things that were posted here over the past year.

My opinion is this - we won't see anything like that from the Browns because none of them, at least none of the adults (not counting the over-18 yo teens) has a sense of humor whatsoever. There's no way they will poke fun at themselves - they aren't capable of it. The laughs I get from this show weren't intended, I'm sure.
Kody and Robyn frequently say and/or do things that they intend to be taken seriously but come out differently.
"The cool guys in the Old Testament were plygs"
      Lol.

When they do try and insert humor and think they're being clever, it falls flatter than a pancake.
"We're having a plyg-cation" (woot it probably took Meri a week to think that up...)

So that's why we aren't seeing anything where they poke fun at themselves because Kody feels he is a different kind of polygamist after all he has long hair and dresses like a slob and rides a Harley. Even the teens on PUSA dressed better than Kody in his wrinkled shirts...

      Delete
    6. YES, DJ, you are RIGHT ON THE MARK with your post about them not having a sense of humor and that they will never poke fun at themselves. Couldn't have said it better and I've been thinking about it for years. Right on.

  17. Pete Rose lives and works in Vegas. All he does is sit at a table, signing autographs on memorabilia with his name on it and posing for pictures. The sports shop where he works makes a lot of money by selling the items to customers, and Pete makes $1,000,000 A YEAR for working 20-25 hours a week.

Why don't the Brown Clowns have any success with "selling" their names / jewelry?

Because they're not Pete Rose. They've done nothing in life but reproduce and convince TLC to create a show about them (which I bet TLC regrets now). And Pete Rose, for all his admitted mistakes in betting on baseball, is a nice guy. Again - nothing like the Browns seem to be.

I have driven to Las Vegas to meet Pete, buy some stuff, and have my picture taken with him. I have - while in Las Vegas for my birthday - driven past the Brown houses, but I wouldn't go out of my way to meet them, and I would not spend $.01 on their tacky jewelry. Their egos are big enough; I refuse to contribute to inflating them even more. Had I been at the trade show, I'd have stared (how's that for honest?), but I would probably not have spoken with them. (Might have said hi to Christine or Janelle if they were working alone.)

  18. I just watched this episode and just need to vent on a few things:

    1) Meri you are delusional.
    2) Robyn you are an idiot
    3) Kody you are complete waste of flesh
    4) Your Sister Wife business is not doing well because your whole premise of "we stand together through think and thin. we are always there for each other" is a bunch of donkey manure. Let's call a spade a spade. You are a foursome of ladies who can barely be in the same room together that sleep with the same man. That is about it.
    5) Your business is failing because you did no market research before you started and make expensive crap that nobody wants.
    6) Your customer service is less than stellar and your prevalent family attitude is that you are owed something for being on TV and people should just empty out their wallets because you want to live in huge houses and keep having children you cannot afford.
    7) NO ONE cares if Meri uses Robyn as a surrogate. Seriously....NO ONE cares.
    8) This family is a train wreck.

    I feel better now.

    1. Just watched as well, it's now available on Amazon instant video. You are on point. All I can say about these people is, ugh.

The lack of communication among the adults in this family is frightening. Especially on such major issues like, HOW WE SUPPORT OURSELVES. Come on, really??? I couldn't believe the whole conversation at the "business meeting." So Robyn and Meri are gung-ho serious about making a living off MSWC, and Kody, Janelle & Christine are all just in it for a hobby. Uh, hello? If you can't communicate effectively enough with each other on how committed you will be to a particular business venture, then you have no business going into business together! Simple as that. Some people can work with their family in a business, other's just can't. This is a family with too many distinct, opposing personalities and differing visions and interests, and they obviously don't function well together. There is something wrong when you have a TV show that gives you the "celebrity" sort of advertising for your business and you can't even sell 20 pieces of jewelry at a trade show. Total dysfunction. They can't hide it anymore. Janelle, run away and sell lots of real estate. Don't fall into the "jewelry websites pay 4 huge mortgages" trap.

To make matters worse, they clearly have little to no common business sense. So they get an opportunity to show their jewelry at a trade show. Good for them, get more exposure for their business, actually WORK, should be profitable. But where do they choose to go, out of anywhere in the world they could go? One of the biggest anti-plyg, anti sister wife places in the country. They should have seen it coming. They said it themselves. "We're going to a place where the term "sister wife" is not a positive term." How the alarm bells didn't go off in their heads telling them that they would not have much success and get backlash from people, well I don't even know. I don't think these people couldn't sell ice water in hell.

Lastly, the thing that just makes me wretch every single time I watch, WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE ABOUT ROBYN???? Seriously, she has something to say about EVERYTHING and cries and cries about it all. Even stuff that's not a big deal. I couldn't take it watching her surrogate convo with Meri. "But I want to have kids with you!" "Every woman should have the choice!" I want to use MY uterus!" Give me a break! It's not going to be your kid! You're not going to be getting up at night, feeding them and changing them! Meri's the one, who at 42 would basically be starting all over again. It's her decision and Robyn just wants to validate herself by being the baby bearer for them. Plus she's probably mad that Meri's indecision is interfering with her having more kids of her own. Blah. Her jewelry idea isn't working, so she wants to give people babies in order to claim some sort of "best and most generous sister wife" title. She makes me sick!

This family is a fraud. Their actions go against everything they claim they stand for. They can barely stand each other, and now they want to live next to each other and grow babies for each other? This season is going to be hard to watch.

    2. Frankly, I now don't think for one minute that it was an oversight or an insanely stupid move on their part to go and attempt to sell their plyg junk at a trade show in a known anti-Plyg town.
Of course, it was *supposed to look like that* for the show's impact and content. But I now think it was nothing more that a set-up, a strategic ploy and plot for the TV show.

It made for dramatic footage to film the anti-Plyg naysayers' comments, as well as to highlight their dismal sales.
It conveniently provided even more proof of their alleged "oppression" from society, giving Kody a podium and more face-time to rant.
Added bonus was it gave Sobbin even more camera time for tears and mascara blotting.

One thing seems to be crystal clear, they really, really NEED to keep the show going since THAT paycheck is the only consistently *reliable* income they have had for 3 years.

    3. I think the show is pretty much scripted and that they planned what they would say in front of the cameras at the business meeting. I think the hope was to boost sales by showing poor poor Robyn abandoned by the mean sisterwives and even Kody when all she wants to do is bring the family together. They communicate fine, imo.

See! Didn't all the puzzle pieces fall into place for you?

Probably the margins are just too narrow and they can't drop the prices because of that. That is kind of a home business 101- have good margins or you will fail... but probably it is easier to say that no one will support your religious choices and the persecution is killing you rather than your own, poor lifestyle choices.

  19. Definitely don't get why MSWC does not sell some non-plyg related stuff and especially some things not laced with FLDS symbolism. Also, as often mentioned, the prices are too high.

I was once driving through a Utah border town and stopped at a local crafts store that sold things made by the polygamist women in the area. Nice pottery, household objects, crocheted & knitted items, (potholders, afghans, baby clothes), etc. I liked the store and bought a few things.

I do not morally judge the lifestyles of consenting adults although I have non-supportive-to-FLDS opinions about dysfunctional families, exploitation of females, overpopulation, and people deliberately having obscene numbers of children they expect the government to support.

Like others, I tend to like Janelle (yeah, I know she is in delusional denial about the family and her 'husband') and keep hoping she gets a nice office job with a stable salary and benefits and pays her mortgage and offers her garage for Meri to live in when that idiot's house is foreclosed. When Robyn can't pay her mortgage either, she & Cody can get a tacky rental in the city, pop out another kid they can't afford, and as a 'single mother' Sobbyn can collect welfare and go on Medicaid. Christine, I just don't know. Perhaps she will get the right psych meds cocktail and bail completely on her trainwreck situation that is never, no matter how hard she prays and tries to force herself to fit in, going to work for her.

  20. I actually don't consider their jewelry "plyg" jewelry, it's only plyg jewelry because they happen to BE plygs.

what they (or actually Robyn) did was steal the claddagh, which is an Irish symbol I believe in the public domain, and then broke it apart into pieces, rather ugly ones I think and put their own name on it. I don't recall seeing any of the PUSA folks wearing a claddagh ring and I always got the idea that for the most part they eschewed jewelry just like makeup and so on (with a few exceptions).

Selling it as "I made this to give to my sister wives" means it might mean something to Robyn - I think it is really "this is the time I kissed their collective asses" but why it should mean anything to anyone else out there, is beyond me. To me it means they have no real taste or style whatsoever.

The broken apart claddagh is perfect symbolism for polygamy. It takes an existing marriage, and then breaks it apart - the result is very ugly.

Still I am not spending 100-200 dollars for sterling silver necklace! There are no diamond chips or anything! I would buy a tshirt or other trinket if they offered it. Have said this a LOT. I do not think Robbin had a bad idea. But they do not own the sister wives name so they can not make the stuff fans want. SW is as close as they get. I am a fan of the show although obviously not a fan of shortcomings. We all have them. I bought the book on amazon new before it came out. Maybe another book? I do not particularly admire Kody. Just find the family interesting and would be interesting if it works really. 1. I don't think anyone can "own" the term "Sister Wives" - TLC/Discovery has a trademark on the name for TV/media purposes only, but it's a generic term really in common usage for quite some time now. Also, more than just a name is needed to sell product. they need something marketable, and what they have at the moment just ain't it.

IMO, they missed their golden opportunity. A book? what more do they have to write about? Maybe in some years, one of the kids will come out with an expose.

    1. I think TLC bought a "pig in a poke" when they filmed the Browns as typical representatives of a polygamous fundamentalist Mormon family. Most of us were charmed and curious about the family. None of them came across as religious zealots. The children seem happy and normal, etc. etc. It was when their family financial failures, the wives letting their dissatisfactions show and other indications of trouble in paradise that folks began to really stand back to assess the train wreck in progress. Then I began to wonder how the polygamist's community felt about Browns being their poster children for the world. Wonder if that isn't why we're seeing the Dargers and Centennial Park. Letting the Browns be the polygamist's face to the world in the community's push for decriminalization of the fundie Mormon's practices is sure doom! The Browns seem clueless as to the impression they've made on their viewers!! The adults in the family don't have a shred of common sense to share between the lot of them!!

I too thought MSWC was a pretty good idea. It actually made me think that perhaps they had some sense in them after all. Why not cash in a little bit off your fans?! Every "reality star" cashes in on some sort of merchandise. The crew from both Duck Dynasty and Pawn Stars has a seperate merchandise retail store built into their shops. And who cares if they dont have rights to the "Sister Wives" name! The couple from Storage Wars cashes in their "Outlaw" apparel. But do note: I said cash in a little, NOT completely price gouge them! That's a tad offensive. I bet they could make more money on t-shirt sales than they think. Because they're inexpensive to manufacture thus making them affordable to fans. However, based on the comments about the things that flew out of Kody's mouth in regards to the business (haven't seen the episode yet) he doesn't care at all about his fan base. I think everyone agrees that their cheap overpriced jewelry isn't selling because its WAY overpriced! And stupid! I grew up with the claddah ring as my family has Irish heritage. You can by them, sterling silver, for $20 anywhere! Mine has lasted for YEARS! And it was CHEAP!

    1. The difference between Duck Dynasty/Pawn Stars and the browns IMO is this - both of the afore-mentioned shows already had some "name recognition" via their established businesses along with branding. The Browns have NOTHING other than that ridiculous graphic. Pawn Stars also has much more vibrant and entertaining "stars" - I don't watch the show that often but when I do, Chumlee and The Old Man always make me laugh! The Browns are just kind of washed out - humorless really.
I could say the same about Orange County Choppers - even though their show is off the air (I think) I still see people wearing OCC apparel and of course they were already known as bike builders/customizers.

What do the Browns have??? Nothing other than the plyg thing. If they had gone to an expo in a non-LDS city, no one would've given a crap. They probably would've gotten a mention in the press release from the show organizers, and a few curiosity seekers might have drifted by but they wouldn't have been controversial - and they would have had the same dismal sales. Or worse. I doubt anyone here in the Bay Area would have bought their crappy stuff.

Not too long ago, CJ posted a link from a LV society column about a show opening that mentioned the Browns being there - one sentence. Only because they have a TV show and it's the reporters job to name all the names - from A to Z list - that show up. I think that at this point the Browns are no longer a novelty in LV or controversial. Kody in this ep was doing his best to whip up a froth of controversy. I watched that segment where he said all the KEWL Dudes in the OT were plygs and I think I noticed Janelle kind of doing the eye roll. She looked rather embarrassed actually. At least to me....

Amused posted yesterday that being at a St George expo was definitely a calculated move to insert drama where there is none. I totally agree. The only card the producers have left to play is the Polygamy is a misunderstood/hated lifestyle. I wonder whose idea it was to go to St George? The producers, or Kody's? Or maybe both...? I wonder how many people they actually had to interview to get those sound bites? Although St George is apparently heavily LDS, they do appear to have a good sized FLDS community as well. I would bet that there were interviews from a lot of people left on the cutting room floor saying things like "whatevs..." Or "who gives a crap and I don't care for their overpriced jewelry" or better yet "who are these people - never heard of the show!" (Which would probably be the response here in my area based on what I hear from folks I know IRL).

  25. All the talk about MSWC being a "hobby business"...isn't that legal terminology about a business that runs a loss for too many years and therefore you can't deduct the loss on your taxes?

Are these people just looking to live tax free?

  26. Does anyone know if the homes are in each of the wives names or are they maybe linked some how. I am just wondering what will happen when one wife can't pay her house payment, what happens then? Do they all eventually fall like Domino's. I do not wish this on them only because of the kids. They have had enough broken promises from comments made last season.I could care less if not for the kids. The "adults" are delusional, with the exception of Janelle (still have a soft spot for her).

    1. Meri and Kody have their names on one house. Each of the other women has her house in her name alone. We have yet to figure out how three "single mothers" with little to no work history and/or bankruptcies qualified for $400,000+ mortgages.

      Delete
    2. When you find out, please let us all know. They had to have had help from someone. There is no way in hell these women qualified on their own. I don't believe anything they say. Let their crazy ass fans buy their ugly jewelry, it will not be enough income to pay for four homes. I would love an episode on how they balance the budget. How are they paying for everything expenses. We all know that they don't have insurance. How would they cope if something catastrophe happens. Enjoy it while it lasts. I only feel sorry for the kids. Maybe this is what they are banking on. Their fans will not want the kids to suffer for their parents stupidity.

  27. Forgive me if this has already been posted here but I'm dead on my feet from a crazy &long shift. I know the idea of selling more cost effective merch has been brought up before here. These tools just absolutely do not get it & are blowing any chance of remaining in those expensive butt-ugly houses for any length of time. The St. George expo would have been a creative way of attempting to broaden their customers (beyond the poor rube fans) & perhaps get a piece of the LDS market by simply offering t-shirts, fridge magnets, key rings with sayings that gently make fun of themselves. Sister From Another Mister, brother from another mother,Team (insert name). Goofy things that they're known for saying. It's not like they'd be compromising their non-existent dignity. That was lost long ago when the tax payers supported children & themselves. How could they have reasonably believed that by attempting to sell their ripoff foolery in a traditional LDS town would result in high sales? And why not cater to your anti-plug customers if it means $? Oh wait, it was just another storyline for the poor, persecuted Browns. Sooo sick of these terrible reality show con artists/actors.

    1. I have to agree with you Kelly. They are being blind to the fact that if they sold things for reasonable prices there would likely be a lot more demand for what they're selling.

Many people can talk themselves into spending $10 or $20 because they like the people they see on a TV show, but it's a whole different thing when items are $100 plus!

  31. So if I understood her right, Robyn believes that the entire family dynamic depends on everyone suspending their own judgment and abducting their financial obligations and getting on board with her dream of selling poorly conceptulized jewlry to a public that just isn't that interested? Yeah.

You know it could have worked IF they hadn't pushed the polygamy down everyone's throats. They could have taken the angle of four different women, four different styles, merging of colors, roles as mothers, etc, etc. But they decided to go with 'sister wives' as the theme for the jewlry AND chose an icon that every time I see it I think of a rude finger gesture.

Yes, Janelle and Christine, if you want your kids to eat, focus on your own business. With a family that size they can't affort to have all their income form one or two sources anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Creative financing indeed! I'm a housewife and haven't worked in 2 years. There is NO way I'd get approved to buy a home in a trailor park for 50K let alone a 400k single family home. And I'm 100% sure they could have found very nice but less expensive homes. But I guess not 4 of them right next door to each other. Ridiculous they couldn't do 2 homes with dual master's or w/basement apartments featuring full kitchens. But thinking back to the process of choosing the features in the homes, they all just seemed awfully selfish for grown women who made the decision to become "sister wives". And when the Dargers were on they talked about sharing a kitchen being abusive, I don't understand how they find a way to share a husband, but not a kitchen? Especially with all the talk of how important it is for the younger kids to be together.

    2. In my opinion, I think there are only 2 wives sharing Kody...Meri and Robyn. Too much tension between Christine and Kody, too much nothing between Jenelle and Kody.

Christine and Jenelle are just riding the gravy train for as long as it is on the track...when it has reached the end, I think we will hear about these two leaving.

    4. They can't share a home, not even two homes, without risking investigation of bigamy.

      Delete
    5. Anon3:57 - Kody isn't legally married to any of them except Meri and they're all consenting to the arrangement. Plus they shared the home in Lehi and were not investigated until the show brought them to light and I believe it was primarily to ensure no welfare fraud was going on.

      Delete
    6. It actually has to do with whether a specific state recognizes common law marriage. If so, by all living together (each state has its own legal standard, but we all know what it means in general), they can all be considered spouses after a certain period of time has passed....and therefore can violate bigamy laws, even if only one wife has a marriage certificate.

      Delete
    7. There are no basements in Las Vegas. Although I do think sharing homes is a very valid point. I cant tell you the many times I have gone onto Zillow and looked at pairs of homes (near or next to each other) that would be compatible for this family. They just don't want to settle for less than what they think they are entitled to. After all it would mean that the wives would have to share SPACE! OH NO!

      Delete
    8. Anonymous, no, living together doesn"t make you common law married. Otherwise roommates would accidentally get married all the time. Even to be common law married, you have to file papers. So they sharing a house would not break bigamy laws

      Delete
    9. You are correct...I didn't want to get into the legal technicalities, but simply living together is not enough to create a common law marriage. The parties must also "hold themselves out" as being married - which the Browns clearly do - among a few other requirements. However...unlike UT, Nevada doesn't recognize common law marriages, so as long as they don't return to UT or to another state that does recognize common law marriage, they're good....

  33. I just finished watching the episode, what a waste of my time. The only new stuff is their set up at the convention. An while I am on that topic, as someone who sets up at conventions and arts and crafts shows, what is going on in their booth, with all the bulky furniture I thought they were selling antiques not jewelry. And it was so cluttered looking.
As for the other stuff, its just a broken record replaying the same stuff from previous seasons, if they can't come up with anything new why even have a show.
I had to laugh during the "business" meeting, I don't know what planet Robyn lives on but even I knew watching when they were starting the business it was her baby, not the entire families. How she would think that some amateur drawing she came up with would support the whole family I have no idea. I think Robyn was hoping that her "hobby business" would somehow save the family and then everyone would feel that she was their saving grace and saved their family. I bet she felt like she was kicked in the gut when Kody said it wasn't even a hobby business to him. What a train wreck.

    1. Continuing on your topic of Robyn "saving" the family, I feel like she really thinks she has, or that she is so important that she is the only one who can. In a Plyg family, the wife who is having the most sex with the husband is the wife with the power. Obviously Robyn is that wife right now. She will eventually be out of her child bearing yrs, and I can't wait to see her face when Kody brings home a 20-something blonde as wife # 5....

    2. That's the only reason this show should stay on longer, just so we can see Robyn's reaction when he brings home #5, I hope it's soon, that would be the only thing that would help at this point.

  34. Further up-thread, Dakota Justice commented on how humorless the Browns are and how this impacts their lack of creativity.

Yep, DJ. You're right. That IS the missing element for these people.

The arrogance and self-preoccupation of Kody, coupled with the bland, one-note vibe of all four women just makes for a total "beige" package. They just cannot pull off anything interesting or creative, let alone productive.

To be somewhat media stars for over three years now and STILL not be aware of how badly they come off both in words and actions is fascinating, and definitely it is the only entertainment factor left in the show.

What is predictable now is that Meri is a nasty, unhappy control-freak. She doesn't even try to hide it anymore.
Janelle is chronically checked-out, content to watch the train derail, and then will just sigh and point fingers after the fact.
Christine is hopelessly locked in teenage mood swings and expectations. She wants *something* but hasn't a clue or the maturity to find out.
Sobbin is still pitifully trying to fit in and make a niche for herself up against the other three. So far she just comes off as desperate and pleading. She does, however, still appear to get satisfaction flaunting her role as the current preferred squeeze and babymaker.

And all four of them willingly continue to live their lives according to the Gospel of Kody.

  35. If TLC wants a show that will bring in ratings they should grab Christine and Janelle for a spin-off show about escaping Kodylocks. Unfortunately I don't think those two have enough self-esteem to realize they would do better without him.

  36. Since we're kinda back to wondering how those new houses were acquired, I wanted to see if anyone remembers a scene from one of the shows from about two years ago. The show came after the death defying and scary escape from Utah (sorry--snark) and after they were all settled in the Las Vegas rentals. In this particular episode, Christine wanted to build a playhouse for one of the little girls because she missed her playhouse from their old home. At the end of the show, Christine was alone looking out on the backyard and singing the Brown Family Theme Song---"We miss being all together, the kids miss each other and we want to be back in one house". But then she went on to say, "Two years seems like a long time but hopefully the payoff will be worth it." The whole thing went by so quickly and on to something else that all I could think was "Two years?? When has anyone said anything about two years?" and "What payoff?" Maybe she meant heaven eventually.

But now two years have gone by--they were in the rental houses just about right at two years. Could they have had a two year contract for filming and TLC broke it up into segments because there just wasn't enough to make anymore than a few episodes at a time? Since we don't know how much TLC has paid, they could have been living on TLC, book money, DVD sales and the LIV and jewelery money. But no matter how you slice it they have gone through a bunch of money in the last two years. I've often wondered if as the "face of polygamy" they were quietly being subsidized by some of the Fundamental groups until they became completely disgusted with Kody. Or there could be some kind of deal ongoing and the "drama" is there for the show.

Anyway, we'll probably never know how they managed to qualify for 400k homes and how they are pulling together 4 monthly payments.

  37. A guestion.....which is going to show my lack of attention or stupidity.

In the lend-a uterus project (however phony it is)......
Is Sobbin going to do the deed with Kody, get pregnant with her egg and Kody's little guys and then permanently lend Meri the baby? Which means that Meri would be raising not her child, but Sobbin and Kody's baby.
But hey, it's Kodyworld, right.....and it's all for one, and one for all.

Or is she going to use Meri's 42 year old eggs and Kody's little guys as in regular surrogacy?
Was thinking today and realized I don't know or didn't pay attention to exactly what the offer was.
But as someone already said, and very accurately......no one really cares !!

    3. It was always going to be Meri's eggs and Kody's sperm. She said that in her doctors office when the doctor kept talking about donor egg. WHY would she use Robyn's egg or a donor egg when she has all of the bonus kids. If she wants another baby it would be hers.

      Delete
    4. I think it is very difficult to use the eggs of a 42 year old for successful in vitro. The eggs are too old and it is very rare to actually get a healthy baby in a situation like this. At least that is what I remember from research I did a few years ago.

If Meri went to a specialist they would not recommend using her eggs. Of course it is a moot point since she doesn't want a baby anyway. She should have done this while she was in her thirties. In any case they don't have the money for this.

      Delete
    5. I don't think Meri wants a baby, and I feel Robyn and Kody are putting too much pressure on her...push back Meri! I want to see her stop crying, make a decision and settle into menopause. When she needs a baby fix, she will go next door, or won't be too long and she will be a grandma. Sheesh, let the storyline go....please

  38. Janelle might talk a lot about money and the lack of it but she has demonstrated a total lack of business acumen throughout the series.

The fitness center idea might have been Kodys but she championed it. In retrospect it was probably a good thing they went with the jewelry idea, because while they're losing $$ on that, it's nothing compared to how much they would've lost doing that idea.

And then in this one - she actually said she thought MSWC would eventually turn a profit...that proves to me that she doesn't know the first thing about business.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. DJ - I'm not sure I agree with your final statement. Janelle said that with a very specific, measured tone and expression that said more than the words and she added a caveat. She said that she thought it might turn a profit but would NOT be enough to support a family nor multiple families. I think it's very possible that MSWC could turn a very small profit as a hobby business - the kind of profit that gives one person a little extra pocket money on-the-side now and then. I think that is actually possible - and it could have provided a little more if they'd kept it a broad jewelry business not something to strongly tied to the sister wives concept and all that baggage. But it's just ridiculously silly to think it would have amounted to more than a little extra money on the side....and while Robyn seems to have been naive enough to think it could have been, I don't think Janelle or Christine EVER thought so.

As much as she completely annoys me, I actually feel a little sorry for Robyn. I think she really did believe this business would turn into something big; and I think the others (except perhaps stupid Kody) NEVER believed it and were just going to watch it play out. Now it's clearly a failure, has cost them some amount of real money and the others are openly calling it what it is and has always been (e.g., Christine's if I'm not rolling my eyes and walking out early.....). Spot on. And....ouch. And Robyn is obviously realizing that her lot in this life is to be the only wife at home, churning out more babies and raising them alone. I think it's why she is so focused on all of them engaging in MSWC together - it's her link to the overall group. Without it, she's home popping out babies and caring for them while her sister wives are out pursuing other interests and/or jobs that are actually bringing in (or can bring in) significant money for the family. Kody has said he WILL have more kids. She made it clear in her conversation with Meri that both Janelle and Christine are done. Meri can't have more. So she is the one left to meet Kody's need and populate their planet in the afterlife. She said she wanted to raise her kids with sister wives, but as the others are gaining more freedom by the day, she will have to do it by herself. Robyn has a very lonely place in the family now.

  41. I agree that Janelle has no business sense. It's only in comparison to the others that she even seems smart. Accounting is NOT the same as knowing how to make a business plan, find funding, design marketing, and SELL. In those regards, it's easier to see that the others are better at that than she is (I think they are better shysters) but this constant refrain about how smart and savvy Janelle is shows me that they still are pulling the wool over our eyes.

  43. Thank you CJ for letting me know that I could view it by buying it on Amazon!!! I just watched the first episode which was a little slow for sure just leading up to the next one. Very little content in it. Revisiting old wounds maybe. The jewellery business is a bomb, they are not committed it it which kind of showed before as they hardly ever post on their facebook page and hardly ever change anything on the web. I do know the ladies read this from time to time, post from time to time so I am gonna say it for like the tenth time. Add some items that the average woman can afford to buy on a whim. $40 is about what I will blow without having to really consider it. I am middle class income, own my home (all paid for) just saying ladies... unless it is gold sterling is cheap. I went on amazon today and there was a necklace almost exactly like yours for 17.00. It was a continuing celtic knot w/chain. I guess one of them is Irish? Also, when your at a expo ... do not tell others what the jewellery means to you ... you tell them how great it would look on them and compliment them. We do not care to wear a necklace that means something to YOU. The biggest failure of the business is that it is built on EMOTION and not common good practice business sense. Add some other affordable items including stickers, car decals, tshirts, bags, etc... like the business was set up for in the first place. Make some of the items CHEAPER. Sterling with no gemstone is not worth what you are asking, I looked up Tiffanys today. Their prices are less then yours on their sterling necklaces. The book was affordable and I bought it. Every time there is a holiday you say there is a new item coming out... but it is never out in time. Usually a month late. It is such a small scale business the one enthusiastic person should be able to do it on her own because really, it is HER dream.
OK, next week spoiler is that Kody tells ROBBIN that she is making drama where there is none. Really Kody? How long have you been married to finally understand this? We knew it before you married her! Drama mama to the max!
Christine dont feel bad your not connected the way Meri and Robbin are appearing to be. I believe that to be keeping your competition close and still manipulating the heck out of the other. It is so obvious.
Those houses are HUGE!!!! Why not 3 or 4 bedroom ranch houses? Why did they go into millions in debt? They are average women with little income or potential. Really they are all single moms if you are looking at the income aspect of it. There is also a short clip of Kody being a dic to Christine again. He is so immature and she is one of the nicest women ever. He is narcissistic as well as Robbin seems to be very much on the same page. I want. I want. I want. You all need to want what I want.
Janelle and Christine... focus on your real estate to make a modest income. Probably will not make your house payments though. Maybe in the end you two could share one of the homes. It is certainly big enough for two wives and droves of children. Truly is the cutest little button of a girl and here baby SOL who is also very cute gets the most attention.

    1. I think you hit the nail on the head with not making the jewelry you're selling all about you, but about your customer. They are so clueless, why would 99% of the population care about plyg jewelry? I think my limit for sterling silver is about twenty bucks, maybe 40 if it was really nice. I prefer white gold though, and for what they're charging for sterling I can find clearance white gold items that are much better looking. I can't understand why their prices are still so high.

It is almost like they want this business to fail.

And I have said it before, but I don't think Kody is as enthralled with Robyn as everyone seems to think he is. I think he felt pressured to marry her for the show, but the fact that she has 3 previous kids and is divorced bugs him. I also think her constant whining and crying bugs him too. I have seen him roll his eyes and look up when she starts more than once. Look at how he treats Christine when she starts complaining and she has nothing on Robyn. He is probably over Robyn's neediness but only puts up with it because she is the only one willing to have more babies.

  44. At the end of the episode, there was a ad that ran (on time warner cable on demand) for a small business website building company to improve business traffi,c etc. I found it hilariously ironic.

  45. Hardly the only women mentioned in the bible were the ones where pregnancy was thought to be impossible. That describes Meri. She doesn't feel cool. The whole middle east crisis is over the descendants of issac and Ishammeal. Surrogacy gone wrong. Arguing over who gets what land. The coolest guy in the bible was Christ. In every other Christians scriptures he was never married, and Adam in everyone else's scriptures had only one wife.

    1. I agree with you on the coolest guy in the Bible overall, but Kody specifically said Old Testament.
To me the coolest Old Testament dudes were Moses and Elijah, both of whom made a guest appearance in the New Testament :)

    2. Moses was a polygamist.

  46. I just have to say, some of the jewelry is hideous. That charm with the hands... Those long bony creepy-looking hands - oh caramba! Also, the regular necklaces don't have a length given. I don't have a particularly slender neck, and I prefer a 20" chain. My guess is that they come on a 16" or possibly 18" necklace. I, at least, would have liked to know more about the pieces. How long is each charm? What style chain and length? Do the charms only go on that holder?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I looked at the website the other day and was surprised by how ugly I thought some of the pieces you just mentioned are. I was also surprised that a few of them weren't bad, but then their prices were out of control. Two hundred dollars for a sterling silver necklace without gemstones? No, just no.

Also, the website was lacking in descriptions of all items. Chain length is something that should always be mentioned. The entire website seemed incomplete and lacking.

  47. I - knowing nothing of the markup on retail jewelry - asked my friend, Mr. Google. He responded, "The retail markup on jewelry can range from 100% to 300% or even more. Of course, this is a fact that jewelers absolutely don't want you to know. Depending on the jeweler, an item that costs them $100.00 could be priced at $300.00 for a 300% markup. The markup on jewelry is high for several reasons. First, the jewelry stores have to pay overhead. That means, rent on the building or space, utilities, and salaries for their employees. In addition, in order to get customers into their store, they have to advertise and advertising costs can be very expensive."

I'd be willing to bet that MSWC is at the high end of the markup spectrum, which is ridiculous since their overhead should be low. They don't have to pay for a retail space (just a "warehouse" for all of the stock . . . which I suspect is a 5x8 locker at a self-storage place, or one of their garages), salaries, or advertising. However, knowing of their non-existent business acumen and/or common sense, I suspect that THEY are being ripped off and overcharged by the manufacturer of their jewelry, and have been told by them that the markup is 300% on fine, iconic jewelry so they can easily recoup the high wholesale price they're being charged.

The only thing missing in the equation is people who are stupid enough (or "fans") who can or will pay those ridiculously inflated prices for ugly jewelry. If you look at their FB page, many of the comments are, "I love your family, and I wish I could afford some of your beautiful jewelry." There seems to be a common theme. People who "love" them have poor taste and no money. Wow - birds of a feather flock together.

    1. AZC - Storage space? Janelle said they had 120 pieces, which wouldn't take up that much space. I think we saw their "warehouse" in the episode in the form of one of those plastic bins you would get at Wal-Mart or Target. I'm betting at least one garage is stuffed with LIV merchandise however since they're more than likely on the hook to purchase a certain amount each month, which is the same way other MLMs such as Isagenix or Melaleuca run.

  48. IMO - I think it's fairly obvious by now that MSWC was primarily meant to be a plot device more than a profit making venture. Anything to keep the TLC money coming in. I don't think it's the producers who cooked it up, I think it was Kody and Meri - Robyn appears to be totally clueless. It's been over a year now since they launched and certainly they KNOW that the prices are too high. all of their FANS are saying it, and how many people at the expo said it - even Christine acknowledged it - but the prices are still the same!

Again - Kody's main thing is to keep the reality show income (easy money) coming in as long as possible. The producers are just going along for the ride.

    1. Agreed, it looks too much like they wanted this jewelry venture to fail in my opinion for it to have ever been real. They just wanted to drum up story lines and sympathy. Maybe Kody and Meri wanted Robyn to look bad too? There is no way 5 adults could have thought this was a legit attempt at a business.

I CANNOT WAIT TO READ CJ'S WRITEUP!!! It's been WAY too long since the last SW ep. I primarily watch the show just to read her synopsis and to snark of course. :)

  51. I just watched their first episode free, it is on Comcast (Xfinity) On Demand, if anyone has comcast
There was NOTHING new in this new ep. going over last season bs. Um like others said, the jewelry biz sucks (nothing new there) but Robyn thinks it will be, whhaa? )Going through the mcmansions that were half built. But damn they look HUGE from the outside!

    ReplyDelete
  52. IMO they could have made a profit on MSWC if it had been done differently. I thought the original concept was each wife to have items representing their own style. That concept with reasonable/competitive prices would have sold. Would they make enough money to support that very large family, don't see how. Still could have made money instead of costing money. As many have said no business sense.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I haven't seen the episode or read all the comments but I want to know more about Christine. I feel like she had been depressed or with mega issues lately (due to her twitter comments or lack of). I don't think she ever got her issues resolved with Kody. She twittered something about traveling with the kids and I doubt Koby was with her. Maybe she is just getting more and more comfortable being a single parent.

Regarding their business ideas.... Gosh, they are such morons running out of these limited resources they are getting from TLC. They should have open the fitness studio that maybe was less risky than this stupid jewelry. Maybe the clothing and accessories was less risky than their jewelry line that is not appealing, especially if you are not a polygamist. Even Honey BooBoo has her own line of T-shirts. The Duggars have their books. Maybe if the Browns start a recipe book: "How to gain 100 pounds in 6 months". I'm skinny I might be interested in that book.Never mind, it would be gaining weight the unhealthy way by eating tapioca and peanut butter fritos.

This show needs to end soon. It's done, we're done with this family, not interesting anymore!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Anon 1:17 - the issue with each wife having items representing "their own style" is that neither Janelle nor Christine was really on board with this idea to begin with. They said as much in this episode, and to me anyway, it was obvious in the ep a year or so ago where Kody decided they'd do the jewelry idea instead of the fitness idea that none of them save Robyn was enthusiastic about it.

Besides, none of them have any style or artistic talent to begin with IMO - much like their nonexistent sense of humor.

And again, it is becoming more and more apparent (to me, anyway) that the whole concept of the website wasn't for profit but for plot lines to keep the show on the air for as long as possible. just like dragging out the surrogate line. zzzzz!

  55. Long time lurker, first time poster!

I didn't see anyone else mention this (or I overlooked it), but on DirecTV the ep was available On Demand, as were two 3-minute long "preview" type clips... one focusing on their (failing) SWC business, and one on the new houses. What was interesting to me was in the one about the new houses, there is a talking head of Meri saying something along the lines of "When we move into these houses, some of the wives will be able to see how the other wives spend their days, and that's all I have to say about that." Wonder what she's referring to? My first thought was Robyn obviously, but she seems to be her BFF lately, so who knows?

    2. Hey Robyn...consider wearing your jewelery outside of the Trade Show, you just might drum up a customer. I did notice Meri wears one piece, but not Christine or Jenelle.

I am REALLY disturbed at how Kody sits and watches these women stress over making money to pay their bills, mortgages or even putting food on the table. "Doy da doy doy doy"...figure it out ladies...you CHOSE this lifestyle"... ho ho ho...he's an idiot!

Again another season of unhappy women who do not get along...If they would just change the name of the show, it might get more viewers.

Lets call it.... "Four Angry Women" or "Mine, Hers, Hers, Hers and Hers"

    3. I would like to see exactly what it is Meri does all day with all her free time. She is the one wife with only one kid, who is an adult now, so what is her reason for not having finished her degree and gotten a real job yet? Too busy polishing up that wet bar?

  56. It is now sooo obvious that the bottom line for the Browns is to keep the show on the air, no matter how redundant, how boring and how blatantly *phony* the show's episodes and the Browns are.
Most of us here are not skilled web sleuths, yet it has been so easy to spot the discrepancies, the outright lies and the sly, contrived manipulations of trumped up storylines and events. Good God, even their book is loaded with half truths and inconsistencies and several of them were even exposed by themselves in the sit-down interview last year.

Watching them now is like taking a class in Ethics 101 and being forced to read the chapter in how NOT to be sincere and authentic.

All the BS in Season One about doing the show to educate society about Plyg life, specifically about their special version of it was just that...all BS !!!
It was and is all about the *easy* money.

Quickly gone in season one was the habatrail multi-home in Lehi, along with the food stamps and welfare and bankruptcies. Kody had a much bigger plan.

It was all about Kody not having to ever work, all about the crew of them living in their million dollared compound and fleecing their fans any way they can. As their history has proven, if one scheme doesn't work, they will come up with another.

They intend to keep the TLC money rolling in and will do whatever they have to keep it going. It's their unique version of "keeping sweet."

  57. Very boring first episode, not much happened at all. If their decision to do the Expo in St. George is any indication of their business sense, it is no wonder MSWC is failing. They invested in the space and trip without even knowing what they were up against when it came to the other vendors at the Expo; they mentioned once they were there the other jewelry was being sold at much cheaper prices. Not to mention investing in a location where they knew their business would be boycotted due to their lifestyle anyway. I hope Christine and Janelle move on to pursue their real estate careers, obviously it is the better way to go.

Meri was my favorite in the first couple of seasons, but now she continues to indulge her own wishes. She certainly did not act in the best interest of the family by demanding an equal budget for her home of 1. I agree that she is holding Robin hostage by dragging out her pregnancy decision. Honestly, if she hasn't been able to make the decision by now, she shouldn't do it and needs to move on. She is almost 42 years old and she has a child heading to college. I wish she would stop complaining, enjoy the beautiful new home she demanded, help her Sister Wives with their little ones (if being a Sister Wife really is as they portray) and maybe invest her time into helping the family financially instead of starting all over again and adding more pressure on everyone. She has also portrayed herself to be demanding of Kody's time and affection, now is her chance to take advantage of her time with him. But again, she hasn't necessarily made her decisions in the best interest of the family thus far anyway, so who knows where this is going.

I really hope the content picks up. I do enjoy watching the Browns and would like the show to continue.

    1. bhd16 said I hope the content picks up. Ohoh... not too likely if they do not have a clue how to capture the customer in the SWC business not likely they will capture the viewers much longer. I am a fan and after paying for this first episode I am starting to loose interest. Unless, the spoiler where Christine and Kody STILL are at odds builds. Last season though things build then puff they are gone and not expanded on. I believe Kody is a major jerk now after seeing him pout and blow up like a child when dealing with his wives... who is supposed to love. He has no pressures of a job so, why not pour his energy in building them up? They are his bread and butter. I believe Christines biggest problem with him is he is becoming increasingly childish and she is a mom and she is trying to fix the problem. SPANK HIM CHRISTINE!!

  58. I finally saw the preview for the new season, where Kody is saying "you are creating drama where there isn't any" something to that effect....my point is, I watched the opener and that preview segment is not in the opener! TLC has dangled bits like this before, yet they are edited out of the episode.

  59. I think I've come to realize something. Kody stated he is angry at everyone for not allowing him to have his "lifestyle", without commenting on it, or passing judgment, however he stated it in the first episode, but you know what? I think it's not really his plyg views/lifestyle everyone is really put off by, it's the fact that he doesn't work (seemingly, a full time job), I'm sure he/they would have an answer that he DOES. Meri, who is alone now and capable of working, does not, he doesn't seem to support his wives in much of anything, he allows his children to drive around with no auto insurance, has no regards to organizing some sort of parking arrangement with his wives/kids, so they don't rack up so many parking tickets, and I could go on, so could everyone on this blog. THAT dear Kodster, is what MOST everyones problem is with you! We can/have for the most part, accepted this life, may not understand why the women would want it, but we accept it, for you guys, for Centennial Park, for the Dargers, those who don't abuse in the lifestyle, we accept! Just come out of the cul de sac for just a minute, that's all it will take I promise, and look inside with us. Do you see it now Kody? Do you see what we all see? Look inside and see why we don't understand your lifestyle. Not the plyg lifestyle.

  62. I thought it was interesting when they were having the walk-thrus of their homes. Right away Meri noticed a mistake in the construction as soon as she walked through the door. The builder admitted to the mistake and said it would be corrected. Fast forward to Christine's house. Again, as soon as they walk in they see a mistake, but instead of being mean about it or complaining she turned it into a good mistake. "Oh Christine that would make a perfect sitting room/reading room". Christine's reply "Oh my gosh, you're right! What a perfect mistake!" It's all in how you look at it.

  63. I just finished watching the show. What a waste of time. I will try to touch on stuff not mentioned. First of all, they should never have gone to St . George. Why not rent a U-Haul or a large caro van so that everyone could travel together and save on gas. I saw 4 cars in the parking lot. Plus, why take Kody's 2 seater. Stupid. Their booth was not set up right. Too cluttered for selling jewelry. They should have had some type of jewelry displays to show people what the jewelry would look like on a person. Plus, wear what you are trying to sell. These women have no fashion sense. Why would I buy anything from them. They did not look professional. When you found out that the other vendors jewelry was cheaper than your, why not have a sale the next day. Use your heads. Kody doesn't like to work. Where was his lazy ass when Meri and Robin pulled the sign down. IMHO Kody just wants to live off TLC money and not work. He thinks that he is a celebrity and entitled. He probably beats his chest at night thinking that he has 4 wives in 4 big homes. What other man can do that. I could be wrong but not even Warren J. had homes like this for all of his wives. Kody wants to be the big man on campus. They are delusional if they think that jewelry can support them. I want to know how they do it. I want to know the truth. Now this would be a show worth watching. Is it just me or did anyone notice that the only ads was for web.com. Maybe they can no longer get the sponsors needed to make the show profitable. I know that some sponsors do not want to be associated with polygamy. Especially the ones geared towards family. I also did not care for Kody's attitude about people who do not share their warped views. Did he say Bible thumping. And Kody, you would never be a cool dude in the Bible. Dammit Meri, will you just say no. We are so tired of this surrogate story line. Enough is enough. We don't give a ?$?$. TLC is having a hard time coming up with drama. Viewers are losing interest. And if one of their delusional fans wonder over to this page, I hope they realize that they are being duped by a bunch of con artists. These fans think that Kody can do no wrong, and they want to be the next wife. Gross. I can't wait for the review. Plus, I know that they read this blog. Where else can they go when this blog is making them relevant. This blog is the only thing showing them any love. Snark, snark.

  64. THIS was the premier?! At best, it was boring...

There were a lot of things wrong with this first episode. Why completely dismiss Robyn's venture, instead of offering sound, constructive criticism? Why not listen to bloggers and fans, who continue to cite the high priced and polygamous-specific items as being a deterrent? Why go to St. George if it was already known to be a non-friendly environment? Why do the women often act like hormonal teenagers stuck in middle-aged women's bodies? Why does Kody have to be such a jerk? Where is the family that used to share a single roof and pray together?

Questions... Questions... But where are the answers?

  65. I have been watching from the first season, and see that the family is so dysfunctional that it is entertaining. The wives are so self absorbed with the exception of Janelle and overly dramatic about everything. Meri is the worst of them all, and holds all the cards as the family wouldn't exist without her blessing. She uses tears to manipulate everyone. Kody is a very weak man, and appears weaker each season. His selfish, controlling, manipulative wives run him over. Not sure why I watch this show.

Boo-hoo, poor Kody is not having fun with the Sister Wife's Closet....quick wives, come up with an business idea that he can 'have fun' with....i.e.: not have to 'work' is what I'm guessing....he is how old and doesn't realize that work is not always (pretty much never) fun....geeeze, these losers will lose their McMansions faster than I even imagined, if they are not in foreclosure already....and the other thing that blows my mind is that they thought this 'business' would be a steady stream of income for them?? What in the heck is in that green stuff they are drinking, must be Kool-Aid!! Good luck, losers!

Totally agree with SaNdY...I tried to watch this, but ended up turning to the weatherscan channel, which was much more interesting.

How are these people baffled by the fact that no one wants their trinkets? Robyn should get her head out of the clouds and listen to what Christine and Janelle are saying. No one is interested in the story/lifestyle that these doodads represent. Especially in that town, lol.

Christine, dont waste energy trying to get into Robyn and meri's 'relationship' stick with the real estate, stick with Janelle. Keep using your brain.

This blog is way better than the show. Oh, and by the way, kody, the bible says Jesus is coming for His Bride, not His Brides...
