Discussion Page for S05Ep01 Sister Wives 11/18/12

I'm only 15 minutes into the live show right now...Oh boy...anyway I think it would be a good idea to setup a separate discussion page for SWB readers who want to discuss the new episode freely without worrying about SPOILERS.

So feel free to discuss away, and to those who haven't seen the episode yet, be warned...

S P O I L E R  A L E R T !

  1. No comments! Everyone else must be on the West Coast watching still. I'm in Eastern and gave it a few hours to see what everyone was saying lol. I can't wait to hear what others think.

Well at least it explains the happy tweets. Though the ad's were so misleading but I guess they wanted to suprise us. Almost all the drama from the commercials was blown out of portportion to get us to watch. Which we did lol.

So now that they are all approved do you think it will actually go through. Mona said they still had a long way to go and just because they were preapproved now doesn't mean they still will be at closing. I'm thinking TLC will milk the drama of that angle now that the initial pre-approvals were granted.

I also want to know why Cody is so okay with Mariah going to school in Utah but pushed Logan into going to LV. Is it because Mariah is so set on living the lifestyle that he trust her to go but wants to be able to keep an eye on Logan? Hmmm, so if you are willing to do as Cody says you can roam freely but if you don't then he will brow beat you into staying within his reach. Interesting.

    1. I really think Meri's not wanting another child with Kody because she doesn't see a long term future with Kody. Does anyone agree?

      Delete
    2. I think Kody wanted Logan so close to home because he needed Logan to help out with his brothers and sisters like always. Good thing Logan is living on campus.

    3. Anonymous @ 9:43AM,

I tend to disagree. I think it's about Meri enjoying the freedom she has and not wanting to tie herself down again. Look at all the stuff she's done, a lot of it with just Krody and her. I think she's almost totally free now and doesn't want to change that for anything.

On a side note, I just had to LMAO when she said (paraphrasing slightly since I don't have the exact quote) "I deserve this house because if it were up to me I'd have needed X# of bedrooms because I planned to have 8 kids" REALLY?

Well I had originally planned to have 6 children, but I have 2 - should I have a house large enough to house those 6 children I thought I'd have? That is so crazy and Mariah will be leaving soon so it will be just Meri all alone in a huge McMansion with reminders that she wanted 8 children - every empty bedroom would serve as a reminder I'd think.

    1. Itunes.com and amazon.com are the only 2 sites I use. I prefer amazon.com because it's only $1.99 to purchase the episode vs $2.99 on itunes and it's available on either my kindle fire or pc.

    2. I don't think so, I haven't been able to even watch season 3 online. Why is that, anyone knows? other TLC shows are available on youtube but not SW.

      Delete
    3. Because they want you to buy them at Amazon and pay for each episode.

    4. I just checked amazon and iTunes and season 5 isn't available for purchase. Anyone else know how to watch season 5 online?
      Thanks!

  3. I'm confused about the loans. Are they pre-qualified or pre-approved? I think pre qualified is not a sure thing but pre-approved is. Will someone knowledgible clarify which is which. Somehow I still don't think they are going to get those houses even though Meri stated she will make do without any frills.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Good Question - there is a difference.

      Delete
    2. I believe they are pre-qualified. If you have ever bought a house, you can pre-qualify with any lender. They basically give you a range on what you can purchase a home for. Then, you go thru the approval process which requires you to prove income, identify assets, etc. So I wouldn't be surprised if the saga may continue.

      Delete
    3. Mona kept using the word approved.

      Delete
  4. BS. This show was full of crap. No way in hell they all qualified for those homes. Robin was able to repair her credit in less than 30 days. I don't believe anything that they say. Do they really have the homes. Have they moved in. How in the world could single women with no steady income qualify for homes over $450K. Does TLC think that the viewers are dumb. OMG, I am spitting bullets right now.
As for Mariah pressuring Meri for a sibling is stupid. If he really wanted another baby, then she would have jumped on Robins offer. Why so they feel that Kody needs another child. Take care of the ones that you have now. TLC was very tricky in the promos for the show. They were trying to create interest. I think that Madison will reveal more about not wanting to be a sister wive. It's not all great as they claim. They make it seem that anyone with 4 wives can afford expensive homes, take tons of vacations and go to Disney when they want. What happens when this TLC gravy train dries up. I do not believe anything this family has to say. It's all lies. This family is all screwed up in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yep, I feel that Madison's attitude & crossed arms/total body language during the interview w/ her parents spoke volumes!!! Kody makes it seems that he's such an involved dad & Maddie is letting us know otherwise....IMO

    2. Kody must have paid her to do that. Like he did with 1 of Christines daughters.

    3. You know, I just finished watching this episode and I am in SHOCK!

After working over 30 years in the credit card business, it takes a little more effort than having an attorney talk to creditors to settle a debt. CBRs do not repair themselves overnite. And if the creditor agreed to settle the debt for a smaller amount than owed, that difference still shows on the CBR. It doesn't simply disappear.

Think about it. If Robyn could write a $5K check for earnest money on a house, she had the means to pay off the $5K balance of that unpaid credit card account. What I think was done was They paid off the debt entirely, and requested the creditor to send notification to the prospective mortgage lender that the debt had been satisfied. And frankly, any mortgage lender willing to loan money to this krew must be krazy - or in the house flipping business on the side. YMMV

    4. CJ - OR consider THIS option:

it was all an act for TV, put on by the Kody Krew and willing accomplices, in exchange for onscreen TV time. did the credit repair dude have enough of his signs plastered in his office or what??

Mona the "personal realtor to the Brown Family" has been getting consistent publicity since the family moved to Vegas. I bet you anything there are people in Vegas with shitty credit watching her and saying well if the BROWNS can qualify then so can I if I use Mona the Amazing Real Estate Chick!

I don't believe those checks ever got cashed, I don't believe that the credit was cleaned up, and I don't believe the Browns - ANY of them - were approved, or pre-approved - for a loan WITHOUT a hefty down payment. 40% just like before. OR - i didn't see any letterhead on those letters that were handed out. MAYBE IT WAS ALL MADE UP FOR THE SHOW...? I'm not saying that TLC was complacent in this. The show money is the family's bread and butter. I would not put it past Kody to MAKE UP stuff in order to keep the show going. and the wives will all just go along with him. they've shown as much in the past.

The photography session was ridiculous. Pro photographers generally charge on a time basis, so while the Browns were arguing over whether Kody should be in the pix or not, time was ticking away. of course, I'm sure that the photographer gave a discount in exchange for the publicity.

it's all a sham at this point.

Except for Mariah, she is just plain SELFISH but I can't feel pity for Meri, because this just goes to show you the Passive Aggressive Apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

"and SOME PEOPLE have said I don't need a big house..." then flash to Janelle. SOME PEOPLE. oh please, and NO YOU DON'T NEED A BIG HOUSE MERI for the ghosts of the kids that were never ever born or even conceived! Selfish selfish selfish!! oi.

Not to mention the tweet he sent to the Browns that was retweeted by the Browns to their twitter fans. Free advertising goes a long way...

I don't believe those checks ever got cashed, I don't believe that the credit was cleaned up, and I don't believe the Browns - ANY of them - were approved

      I concur with your beliefs.

    7. Please let me weigh in. We live in a society that rewards bad behavior. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they got the loans. My friend and her husband have filed for bankruptcy twice. At one point they defaulted on $50k in credit card debt, but some how they were able to get another loan to buy a home about four three years ago. No, I am not jealous. I'm fit to be tied, because stupid saps like my husband and me, who pay our bills on time are the ones who get stuck paying for people like them. What? Did everyone think that the banks and lenders just blow off these peoples debt? BaHaHaHaHa. Someone has to make up the difference. Who do you think that is?

      Delete
    8. New Shoes - I'm not an expert by any means, but if your friend and her spouse got the loan 4 years ago - I think lending institutions were still doing "creative financing" including the borrowers not having to prove their income, so they'd puff it a bit.

Here in the Bay Area - after the RE bubble popped, the stories started coming out. husband and wife both working blue collar jobs as custodian/janitor and maid/cook...qualified for a $500k home (in the Bay Area, that's the median price BTW) and got an ARM...everything was dandy until the rate started adjusting...then they lost their home. those stories happened ALL the time, and they are still happening since many of the ARMs stayed at the same level for 5 years before they would adjust. Because of the real estate bubble, things have changed BIG TIME. Down payments are now required - and not just 5%, but 20% MINIMUM. Stated income is no longer allowed, it must be proven. and so on. so that's how I know the Browns won't even be able to qualify for cheap housing much less four brand new 7 bedroom homes. Good thing for them they still have the Lehi house.

    9. The income from the show..or who knows maybe TLC is cosigning??

      Delete
    10. TAR -- I would bet my 401 (k) that TLC is NOT cosigning for the Browns, they are in business to make a profit from broadcasting, and are not that dumb as the Browns will default in a heartbeat.

The income from the show...? is that guaranteed for 30 years? I would think that a bank/lending institution is going to look at that, not just the present income but what is expected in future.

And the lender gets the houses when the Browns foreclose, to sit in the vast unsold inventory of foreclosed homes the banks already own...

    11. DJ-I have to agree with you. After watching the recent "Amish" show, and now all of the facts are out about how fake it is, I would not be surprised by anything now. I actually believed that Jeremiah had never driven a car and then I see photos from him driving years ago, and he has three kids. Why in the world would the creditor just agree to right off that large of a debt. Also, why did they wait until mere weeks before the credit needed to be cleaned up, to clean it up?

The only one I believed was Christine when she was crying about how she had failed at everything her whole life. This clearly showed how she feels about herself and it made me really sad for her.

    1. I'm with you. Why does Robyn need her bio sis to move in? As has been said before, isn't that what sister wives and a big family is for? They tried to really make people feel sorry for Robyn. Well it didn't work!

While it's sad that she, and especially the kids, had to go without heat, I don't believe she's as innocent as she wants us to believe. I wonder if that $4k was the VS debt?? Just kidding ... But not really ;)

When Robin was crying about not being able to pay her debt because she was a single mom living in a trailor without heat, I thought PLEASE! When Cody started dating her she lived in a nice house with nice furniture, and how long have they been getting TLC money? They could have paid the debt along time ago, they just did'nt want to.
When we bought our first house years ago we had to have been working at our jobs for 2 years and at the time i was sick on disablity and they would not give us the loan until I returned to work. Their TLC income is not a forever type of income and I am suprised they could get home loans with this income. I am sure their other income is not enough to qualify for these homes.

  7. Thanks, CJ, for this thread to decompress before everyone sees it.

    Where to start.....???
The BS was just oozing out the seams on this one.
    Recycled, rerun and redundant BS.
Plus...annoying cliff-hanging scenes in front of all the commercials. Scenes that ultimately led to "nowhere"...

First of all, no one looks "slimmed down"...Robin may be back to pre-baby weight, but the other ones look the same. If fact, Meri maybe even a little more.
But who cares about that??...about as much as who cares if Robin gets a manicure !!!

So obviously all the late-staged, 12th hour buildup and TLC teasers about debt and crisis and loaner uterus and tears and more tears....
    ..it all was BS.

What it did turn out to be was the Robin-show with several scenes of Robin "boo-hooing", as always.

    And then the Mariah/Meri/Kody show.
*Mommy, Daddy, I am going off *to college*...
BUT I WANT a baby sibling", sniff, sniff, and WHYYYY won't you do it?* Grow up, Mariah !!

Oh, and good ol' Mona got a nice bit of airtime too. *We need to discuss what if one of you gets turned down....oh, April Fool, you all are approved.*
We are to believe that they were living in fear of not being approved ???
    That was SUCH BS.

Nice to know that with sooooo many people out of work, in danger of losing their houses, stretched to their limit, these Brown fools are consumed with bigger and better, no matter what.

    Meanwhile, Robin's debts get forgiven.
That just means that her creditors get stuck....and eventually will pass on their losses to other *ethical* folks who DO pay their debts.

One thing was VERY apparent tonight..
SWB won't have to look hard for chat fodder.

    1. Thank you!! I was just about to go off on a rant about people who have their debts forgiven. Nothing is forgiven. Someone else just pays for it. Don't you just love how our contemporary society rewards bad behavior?

  8. Wow, looks like we are in for another season of a lot of the same, but this time the kids might be breaking away. I got three main things from this episode.
    1. Maddison really does not get along with her father. The body language she had while sitting between Janelle and Kody was scary. She looked terrified to be that close to her dad and you could tell he was not happy with her at all going against his beliefs. Ironic because he is always spouting off about how their kids can pick any religion they want. I wouldn't be surprised if once Maddy is 18 she runs far, far away from her dad and only keeps in contact with her mom. On the flip side, contrast how Kody was sitting with his chosen wife's only daughter Mariah. He had his arm around her, was laughing with her, told her he was proud of her and trusted her, and he said she was a great kid. Too bad he can't encourage Maddy for having her own opinion. I love how he said Maddy wasn't brainwashed at all in religion by them, I had to laugh because obviously she isn't brainwashed, she doesn't believe in it!
    2. Robyn still has to play the ultimate victim and refuses to accept that her debt is at all her fault. It doesn't bug me so much that she has thousands in credit card debt that she has no intention of paying back, leaving it for the consumer, although that is annoying. The fact that she blames all of her debt on her ex-husband and acts like she took on his debt in the divorce because she's the bigger person makes me want to slap her. Did her husband rack up a huge debt at Victoria's Secret? Did her ex have the three kids all on his own? Did anything stop Robyn from going through a training program to get a better job while she was staying at her mom's house? Is there a reason Robyn hasn't gotten a real paying job since they've been in Vegas? NO. Robyn needs to stop playing the victim. If she would have just admitted, yes, I have a lot of debt, it is my fault, and I learned my lesson and won't do it again I would have so much more respect for her. I predict she does the same thing again if given credit cards, she obviously has not learned her lesson. This time it will be Kody's fault.
    3. Mariah is a chip off the old block that is Kody. I think one day, when she is actually living life as a sister wife, life is going to kick her in the butt. I feel really badly for her. She hasn't seen what life is like for the other kids who have to share their dad with other siblings and see their mom not be favored. She better hope she is a first wife.
Thanks as always for letting me share! -Freya Richardson

    1. I was thinking also...When Robyn and the gals were out buying new furniture for their rented homes, that might have been a good time to let Kody know that maybe her "Budget" of the money should start paying off her debt she took on "to keep the peace" with her ex. I would imagine when Kody "Sealed" his life with Robyn, he knew he had to deal with her debt. Seriously...if you want to live the life Kodeman, you are going to have to take it all...the good with the bad!

      Delete
    2. Freya, loved your comments! I hate when people don't own up to the part they played in their own problems and always blame somebody else. While the ex might not have been Prince Charming, I'm sure there were also plenty of mistakes made by Robyn. Yes, this was her show and yes, she is still the queen. If you'll notice, TLC even tweets or retweets her. I've seen at least a couple of tweets to her only, and I thought that was odd.

      Delete
    3. I felt the same way! Robyn was trying to save face by claiming she was the bigger person taking on the debt when, in reality, we all know at least SOME of it is hers. I think she hates her past choices and wants to pretend she's always been with Kody and her kids are really his. She would give anything to magically make that happen and is in denial.

      Delete
  9. I have no idea how they qualifed. It just makes me angry to watch he show, not because of the lifestyle, religion, number of kids but the financial irresponsibility. So you can all file banrupcy, not have full time jobs and have collected welfare in the recent past and get approved for a construction loan? A construction loan is so much harder, I mean almost impossible to get in Vegas.
I have 2 friends that recently have had trouble with buying homes in Vegas. One friend wanted a new home built in Henderson. It was a 3 bedroom plus den/office. She has wonderful credit, a steady job in the healthcare field and had 20% down and she still had issues. Banks don't want to give new construction loans when there is so much out there already built. My friend had the choice of going through one finace company which had a ton of fees and .5% higher rate or to put almost 50% down. Buying an already built house, she qualified no issues and ended up buying one. The second person I know was buying in Summerlin, in the same area the Brown's were buying in. In fact the kids go to the same high school. This family owns several rentals homes outright in Utah. They have great credit and 20% down but are self employed. They could not get a loan(after getting very close they were 2 days away from closing 2 times) because of the self employment. they are still living in a rental waiting for the self employement history(and they work 12-14 days 7 days a week at thier business) in the state of Nevada to be longer. My friend's situation is relaity, the Browns are not. So the Brown's fix thier credit in 30 days, are self employed barely, all they needed was a 600 score, qualified for construction loans, and each wife gets a new home..such a happy ending...

It is obvious TLC is paying for the homes. TLC has helped previosu families, Duggars, Kate (and I read they offered Honey Boo Boo) with housing funds. Maybe TLC does not want to admit helping so why not at least show us the jewerly business or the water business and pretend they are making money to afford the homes? Why don't they explain why they are really building 4 homes? is it CC&R's or a future financial aid/welfare issue?

Now I can only wonder how in the long term they are going to pay for that water bill that Christine spaced out on? or 4 electricity bills? 4 property taxes? I bet in 5 yeras all the houses are foreclosured on.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There is no evidence whatsoever that TLC has helped to finance the Duggars, the Gosselins or any other family with purchasing real estate, they used their TLC money to either renovate (in the case of the Duggars) or buy (Gosselins).

I did hear a rumor that TLC offered to put the HBB family into a rental house - but that was turned down by Mama June (I also heard, but not sure if this is true, that the family doesn't actually live in the house on the HBB show full time - the kids live with their grandma i think? could just be a rumor).

and also as said - last month the Browns at their UNLV talk admitted that they did NOT get the homes and they are still living in the rental houses. so it's a moot point.

      Delete
    2. I agree with DJ, this topic of TLC buying their reality families homes has come up before, I also do not believe TLC has purchased any homes for any of the families....TLC is not in the business of purchasing homes for their reality families, and it makes sense: if they bought a home for one of their reality families, all of the other families would demand the same...TLC pays the families and whatever the families choose to do with their money is their business....and I believe that the Duggars were in good financial shape when they signed on to TLC and most likely own their own home....please correct me if I am wrong about these points!

      Delete
    3. DJ, I believe the oldest daughter on HBB lives with the grandmother. The others do not. I watch their show, and though they are crass, I am one who likes the HBB family!

Also I LOVE the Duggars. I read boards on them, and do tend to believe that TLC comes in and helps with the houses or at least the furnishings. They may not buy houses, but I bet they paid for the Brown rentals and I too read that they offered to move HBB (maybe to a rental). I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to move HBB to a McMansion just for show fodder! Hopefully Mama June doesn't cave.

      Carry on...

    4. I might be naive, but is it possible that TLC or one of their sponsors is leasing these homes for the duration of the series and turning this whole 'loan approval' into a plot line for the show? Seriously!! Most reality shows are the furthest thing from being realistic.

      Delete
    5. I'm a little surprised that TLC allowed the Krody Krew to address the issue of their McMansions during the Las Vegas appearance.

To me that pretty much derailed all of this season's drama over the houses. Why even show a storyline that has had the ending revealed? Bizarre, but then I suppose I shouldn't be surprised because so much about this family and this TV show is.

      Delete
    6. I think it was addressed exactly because TLC WASN'T running the show. IMO that whole UNLV "interview" was set up by the Browns on their own, and maybe at the last minute they contacted F8Fs and had them come in and film.

besides, why should F8F/TLC care anyway? none of the news articles on the interview mentioned that question, and it's just us here at SWB and whoever was at the interview itself who know the response. and TLC I'm sure being aware of this site, KNOWS that all us Big Trainwreck Fans will still watch anyway! LOL

  10. I'm spitting bullets too! The NERVE of these people. And Meri? You are SUCH a bitch to expect the same things as the other wives! She is taking literal $$$ away from those other children yet SHE thinks it's all about STATUS in the family. Grow the f up Meri!

Also, Meri is as big as Christine now.

HOW in the hell are they able to afford these houses??? I'm so frruuuuusssssssstrated right now. Sorry.

Thanks for the welcome in the other thread Cynical Jinx!

    1. Thank you for saying exactly what I feel. Meri wants all the perks of having alot of children ( I have expensive tastes and take care of my stuff ) but obviously doesn't want the work of all the children. She was offered a surrogate, but she just doesn't know if she wants to start all over! Well, if one of the other wives developed cerebral palsy and needed an elevator in her house, would Meri need one too? After all, she shouldn't be penalized for having an able body! It's not all about equality, Meri. It's about accepting how God made you, it's about common sense (7 empty bedrooms, really?), and it's about doing what is moral and ethical. Take a little bit less, Meri and give the kids a little more! You're teaching them how to manipulate people into getting what you want and using the inability to get pregnant to do it! Disgusting behavior. Whew, I feel better now!

      Delete
    2. Or, could Meri be looking at a home as an investment in retirement? Kids grow fast. Mariah did, and Meri has no small ones to blur the fact while the others are viewing home as a place to raise the kids.

When the last child leaves each wife will be alone in the home purchased today. 425K USD in a money market account spends the same for a woman who raised one child as it does for one who raised six.

Is Meri's contribution to the family not equal to Robyn's? I think this family does not need the conversation of relative worth(s). LOL

Kody's name will be on each home, no doubt.

Pretending the mortages are payed in full in the end ... Cashed in, thats the equity of two house (Zowie! 850K USD) for Kody.

      Delete
    3. You are so right. I seem to remember Meri saying that all the other wives children were just as much her children. Really? Is that why she is insisting on the lion's share?

      Delete
    4. then if they have that money, they should be putting it in a money market account. I think one thing that the real estate bubble showed us is that housing should not be considered an investment. If they actually HAD that kind of money sitting around, they'd be better off paying off their existing debt then investing it elsewhere.

Kody only was on the application with Meri. the other "wives" were on their own.

But of course this is just a debate for interest purposes only since the Browns have already ADMITTED that they did NOT get the homes.

  11. OH MY LORD
    that was a lotta nothin'.
and did anyone else notice the overly dramatic music playing in the background during the critical moments??? my husband started cracking up when the "violins of suspense" started playing about the 3rd time they previewed Robyn's supposed denial.

I was actually hoping (fruitlessly, as i realized even when I was hoping it) that they would READ THE PREAPPROVAL LETTERS OUT LOUD so we could hear WHAT the terms were. good Lord! one would have thought they had won the lotto.

and Robyn - quit being so quick to cut down your ex. If I was David Jessop - oh BOY would I be talking to TMZ or whomever right now. I'm guessing that everything was split down the middle and each got 50% of the debt load. Robyn made it sound like she took it ALL on. And I'll bet that David J. is paying child support as well, for all of Kody's lip service about the kids now belonging to him.

HAHAHA the credit counselor just KILLED me. how was he able to keep a straight face?? OOOH we just had this taken off your record - like that bill has been totally expunged. Yup he probably set up some sort of payment plan or something in exchange for taking it off the report (temporarily i'm sure, as soon as Robyn stops making the payments, then they'll stick it right back up there again - but that's okay because by then the Browns will be in their houses...RIGHT?? (um no).

So all this was basically filmed at different times. We just saw pix of Solomon taking his first steps, he looks to be about 6 months old or so when Robyn plops his carrier down on the attorney's DESK.

Did anyone else notice that MySisterWifesCloset.com is down? about a third of the show was about the freakin' site, and of course you would think they'd have had it UPDATED and ONLINE before the new ep aired. LOL.

Speaking of MSWC, i thought this was HILARIOUS - the info on Statscrop.com shows its ranking as 2,630,820 on the internet (in comparision, Amazon.com is #10). with 84 daily visitors, 151 page views and a website value of $225.00.

    5. I wouldn't be so sure that everything was split 50/50 in the Robyn-David divorce. I know a lot of women who let their husbands have everything and assumed most if not all of the debt as a trade to have sole custody of their kids. My sister, my sister-in-law, and a few of my friends did just that. My sister and my sister-in-law let their exes have all the assets, but assumed the all of the debt just to keep their kids. You'd probably be surprised at the number of men who will give up their kids for a house and a debt free start. My sister-in-law was married to my brother since she was 18-years-old. They had six kids. Every time she talked about separation or divorce, he'd dangle the kids in front of her. One day he decided to leave her for someone else. My sister-in-law and brother fought bitterly over the house and the contents. My sister-in-law took a cue from my sister. Finally, she told my brother he could have everything as long as he let her keep the kids. He quickly agreed. We haven't heard from him since. They say women are fickle, but I beg to differ.

I don't know when this was filmed but they did not get these homes. According to Christine.. But I saw Robyn tweet tonight saying "We still have so much to do. We have to keep working on it" We'll just have to wait and see. They're so dumb.

  13. Sorry pressed the submit button too soon.

Madison was literally *seething* sitting beside Kody. He doesn't know who her friends are even! Kody, you SUCK as a dad. Quit breeding and give the kids you do have some of your time.

The entire photo shoot thing? All I could think of was the word 'entitled'. These women think they are ENTITLED to be treated like special snowflakes by Kody. Yes, he should treat them better (he SUCKS as a husband) but the way these grown women act around him reminds me of 15 yr. old girls. *gag* It's almost like a game with them, to see who can stand closest to or get the most atttention from Kody. The hell?!

How do they afford 4 separate water, electric and gas bills? How do they afford numerous cell phone payments? How do they pay 4 different monthly rents? I want answers dammit!

They make my blood boil. I apologize again.

    1. Don't apologize! You are saying what we are all thinking.

As far as the women acting like 15 year old girls and all wanting a photo where they are closest to Krody, I think their behavior is due to the fact that they DON'T get that fulfillment from Krody.

He's always busy buzzing off to the next wive's house and they just can't have their needs met by seeing him once every 4 days. In my mind there's just no way that satisfies most women's innate need for closeness to our spouse, conversation, quiet time where you just sit and enjoy each other, talking about day to day necessities - I could go on and on but there's no way they are getting all they need from him.

It's a sad way to live IMHO. I think they'd see far more of him had they just stayed in Lehi and added on to the plyg house they own. Or if they had just purchased a 4-plex or something similar when they made their "emergency" move to LV.

what also gets me is 'pitures' instead of 'pictures' and 'hausiz' instead of 'hauziz'. then again, those might just be americanisms.

  15. I'm sorry Mariah, but does anyone else think it is downright bizarre that Mariah is bawling because her mom will not have another child? Yes it is sad, but get over it! She said she tried fertility treatments and they didn't work. Maybe Mariah would like to undergo all of the shots, drugs, exams and stress of doing IVF and then it is still not a guarantee that they will get a baby. I think she needs to get her naive head out of the clouds or maybe has some serious mental issues. Sorry, but it's the truth!

    1. I agree. As an only child I can hardly imagine. I mean there while there was plenty of time growing up I wanted a sibling, by the time I was a teen that was the last thing I wanted, and I would NEVER be so hard on my mom given the genuine attempts that have been made.

That said, in my opinion Meri really doesn't seem to want a baby at this point and really needs to stop pulling the victim card with it. IMHO that is exactly where the tears were coming from. It looked a whole lot more like anxiety and fear than depression or disapointment. It's one thing to claim so much disappointment, equality and attention about not having more children and it's potentially an entirely different equation when the offer is put on the table (Robyn). I mean its a pretty darn good offer for someone so desparate to have a child. Or is it?

    3. This whole surrogacy thing is nothing but a storyline for drama. Meri wants to be close to Kody so she wants to have lots of babies too. Using a surrogate or adopting would not be the same because her motive is not just to be a mother to a bunch of kids. It's to be a mother to a bunch of kids that she conceived with Kody and carried in her own womb. I believe she has basically said as much. I do understand where she's coming from on that, but since it didn't happen, it's time to focus her energies elsewhere.

    4. My husband and I have an only child who is 8 and while there was a time he wanted a sibling, he knows that is not going to happen and he is so supportive of that. He draws pictures of our little family of 3 and when a family friend asked him the other day if he wanted a brother or sister he replied, "well, that might be cool, but moms body needs to rest so that she can keep playing soccer with me!" As someone who can't have more children, that simple understanding and support from him is amazing. Mariah, take notes!!!

Here's a thought Browns...how about you all stop crying and whining for 2 minutes and get back to your plan of "educating" us about polygamy and your religion. So far the only thing I've learned from Kody & Krew is that it's a toxic, unhappy existance- no wonder it's illegal.

    1. All I've learned is that you can have a bunch of kids supported by the taxpayers, pretend to have jobs, file bankruptcy, go out to eat all the time, take numerous vacations, and meanwhile never go to any sort of formal church service. Yet, some how, you can still call your lifestyle choice a religion. On top of that, you can make one poor choice after another and still be rewarded with the most dismal reality show on television. WTH? Why am I still living in mainstream America?

      Delete
    2. Those of us who subscribe to similar lifestyles are mortified that this family represents us in the media. Please know that the majority of us are not like this family. Maybe healthy poly relationships are just too boring for reality tele, so TLC found the family with the most drama?

      Delete
  17. They may have been granted their approval on television, but I believe TLC has a lot more to do with that approval process than we are being told. It concerns me as a Las Vegas resident that this episode was shot about 5 months ago and the lots in which they are speaking remain untouched. That is unless a separate location has been chosen and building is underway without us viewers knowing. Additionally, the latter could be easily obscured by using a float company for county records. I for one know it was done prior when Steve Wynn was constructing his compound and hid the real owners by using a float company until a couple weeks prior to move in did the county records suddenly change to reflect the correct information.

Reality television was unleashed at its finest tonight and were the suckers that bought in to it. We all have to remember that whatever angle TLC chooses to go can easily be edited that way and that’s something we need to keep with us.
Personally, I cannot believe that a 600 credit scare can obtain you a 400K home loan unless you’re putting down nearly 40 to 50%. I also cannot believe that their website is grossing the income to support even one of their families, let alone all four.

It seems from my perspective their lives and daily routines have not changes but to see it on television it’s all about drama and what happens in the coming episodes. Well played TLC, well played. The more I look at this ordeal, the more I see TLC telling the Browns to read from this script and let us do the rest.

It’s just really awkward living 2 miles from their current rental homes and seeing a complete different story on television...

    1. Mark -IMO TLC isn't editing the show - they merely promote and air it.

The Browns aren't Steve Wynn - not by a long LONG shot.

Not sure if you've read past blog posts over the last couple months, but just last month the Browns were featured in a Q&A at UNLV and they ADMITTED that NO - they did not get the homes.

I don't consider myself a sucker - nor should any of the folks here at SWB be considered as such. The "suckers" are posting on the Brown and SW FB pages. The ones who want to send money to the Browns, who want to be Kody's 5th wife, who admire Meri and Kody and so on.

Moral is: don't believe everything you see on TV. If they had REALLY gotten pre-approved my guess is that we would have been told the lending organization's name. not just shown four identical white pieces of paper with NO visible letterhead.

      Don't blame TLC.

  18. I work a commission based job without a steady reliable income. Yes, I might make enough to meet the mortgage one month, but that doesn't happen every month. I have a friend who is also in sales and she could barely qualify for a lease on an apartment because of her job. There is no way that each one of these ladies got approved for loans! It is so SILLY that Meri wants her own house. I wanted a rich husband and a 7 bedroom house too, but I didn't get it, just like most of the rest of America! The Mormons I have met are very humble and while they can have expensive things, they certainly don't make a big deal about them or brag and whine when they don't get their way. It is sad that Meri could not have more kids, but she could be more kind and be a mom to the other wives' children instead of being jealous for years and years. I hate how Meri keeps complaining and getting offended when some of the others say that she shouldn't have a big house. If she made a lot of money, then maybe she should. But who is going to pay for this large house for her? Does she work? Her previous job did not pay enough to pay for a mortgage for a large house. Just because you really want something does not mean you will always get it, or that you even deserve to get it! Grow up Meri and take one for the team.

  19. Of course they're getting paid big bucks to be on their "reality" show. It's all just for entertainment, but of course it's survival for them. I have known lots of Mormons throughout the years and none of them have acted the way the Browns do. Mormons for the most part are successful, hardworking, but modest people who do their best to live the way their religion tells them to. The fact is that most Mormons' lives are so structured by their church obligations that they have little time for anything other than work, church, and family. You just have to look at this show as entertainment and take the Browns' shenanigans with a grain of salt.

We were both employed, veterans of the US Marine Corps, and had plenty of money for a down payment. Now how the hell do for people who barely have 600 credit scores, have filed bankruptcy, have no job history that is steady, and are self-employed get approved for loans? Maybe I just need to move to Vegas...it seems like I could buy a home there no problem!

  21. Ugh, this show is officially nothing but BS. Can't honestly see myself watching it anymore, it's beyond stupid and so fake. These goofs are so destitute that they're barely scraping up enough to pay their bills and put down earnest money on huge mansions.......yet they have no decent jobs, what kind of employment history?....history of bankruptcies (I thought Robyn had previously declared bankruptcy so what's all this crap about her credit and collections and still owing money?).....but they're all approved for nearly half million dollar homes each? What a total crock.
And Meri is becoming annoying and nothing but a whiner. Hell yeah she doesn't need home the size of the other wives, why on earth does she think she does? That's just greed. They should all be financially practical and having homes based on the NEEDS of the family....so why would she need a home with 5 bedrooms? That's just greed and excess and not even reasonable.

And this ongoing drama about her having another baby.......*yawn*.......you're 45, get over it already. And Mariah's big long cry-fest about she prays every night for her Mom to have another baby, how totally bizarre? What's it to her anyway? It's really not any of her business. I think quite frankly that Meri really doesn't want more kids but she's being hounded by Kody and now Mariah. God, don't you all have enough friggin kids? It's not some contest where you have to all be equal.

And their jewelry....from what I've seen it's god awful fugly. Who in their right mind would buy any of it?

I think this show and this family has had their 15 minutes of fame and they're done now, it's boring.

Oh...and Christine whining about how she hates to pay bills..........what a lazy cow, how much effort does it take seriously to sit there on your laptop and pay some bills online? She's such a princess.

These people are like locusts....more houses, more kids, more new businesses AND how many parties - birthday, anniversary, etc....do they need? People in this economy are suffering to stay in ONE home and the whole drama about needing four homes is just so out of touch with reality. What do these people give back to the society they take so much from while totally flouting its laws? Agree that the money issue seems insincere. They must be getting money from somewhere. Only Christine works at far as I can tell and what Cody (the most arrogant, self-absorbed, entitled creep I've ever seen) does for a living is never made clear. He sure has a nice set of wheels though....and computers, and expensive guns, and four wives, lost count of how many kids, 4 houses, businesses. These people need to stop focusing on themselves and their own little clan and see what the world and reality is really is.

Also, I do find it interesting that Logan got so much pressure about staying in Las Vegas for College, but yet Mariah wants to take off to Utah for school and "Oh Boy, you go girl...don't let the door hit ya on the way out!" I went to SUU, the college that Kody called a "hick college, in hick town." Well, it is a small town, but a "college town" with fantastic professors from all over the world. My biology teacher was a brilliant man from Norway, and one of our Theatre teachers is currently a very successful actor on Broadway. Two of my english teachers were published authors...I could go on. Great little college in a beautiful town surrounded by red cliffs. Gorgeous. You could do a lot worse.

But Kody and family are from Lehi, which has no college and is absolutely considered a hick town with nothing to offer, except a lot of space and nobody looking at you so an easy place for lawbreakers such as the Browns to hide. When I lived in Utah, the only thing that distinguished Lehi was the Lehi Roller Mills. The mill was an olde tyme looking flour mill, that served as the set for "Footloose." Hick, hick, HICK town.

  26. One thing that hasn't been mentioned that I found odd was when Janelle was telling Madison how she could have friends over in the "new" house. Why can't she have friends over in the rental?

It also struck me when Janelle said that she was opposed to Meri getting such a big rental when money was tight, but it turned out that "Meri's house had been such a blessing for us". I'm confused! The little slip ups make it interesting though.

    1. I wonder if the house they have is too small for all those older kids to have friends over comfortably and maybe the younger kids bother them. That is how I took it.

I LOVED that Janelle went to the model home to see how she could make changes to keep her costs down (kids sharing rooms, more family space) and her saying that Kody wants the kids to all have separate rooms and her mentioning that she is looking ten years down the road at what she will need. I HATED that she pretty much apologized for saying Meri didn't need the big house. Janelle thought that once Meri explained her reasoning, she understood it and went on to agree with it. Just because someone explains their reasoning you don't have to automatically agree with them. I know she said that Meri's house was a blessing, but she made her point in going and picking out less expensive items and home layouts. I guess though, going to someone else's house for parties and get togethers does mean you don't have to clean or cook, so maybe it is a blessing.

I think it is stupid that they all have the same budget for housing. If they want four houses, find cheaper ones. If you want the big McMansions, buy one big one. I thought the idea was to be all together. Just because you live by family doesn't mean you are over all the time. This isn't Everybody Loves Raymond.

    2. I know it was a re-airing from last season, but how about Meri's passive-aggressive way of saying that SOME PEOPLE don't feel she should have a big house. SOME PEOPLE. and then Christine spoke up that she never said that...Janelle just sat there.
Um Meri honey, Janelle has been supporting your ever-expanding tushie for what, 20 years now? we all read the book and we all KNOW. WTF do you want a 7 bedroom house? Are you also going to have a maid service come in and clean it for you??? who pays for THAT? gimme a break.

it's all smoke and mirrors anyway because except for maybe Robyn, who is still in La La Land, I'm sure they knew from the get-go they weren't getting these homes. If they TRULY meant to stay in LV for the long term, they would have put the Lehi house on the market...but they haven't, because they need a place to go back to when this whole thing is over.

  27. Oh come on now, Meri deserves a wet bar or deck and Kody deserves more than a dirt farm! ROFL! Do they purposely say this stuff to make us laugh? Do they really believe WE believe Robyn could clear her credit in 2 weeks? Their own kids don't believe the fantasies and outright lies so why would viewers?

Does anyone know what the cost of IVF is assuming they have no insurance? Hormones for Meri, egg harvesting, lab conception, implantation in Robyn? I'm not even asking for delivery fees, just want to know a lowball number for private pay rate assuming it was successful the first time.

Best storyline ever: Meri does do IVF but somehow all embryos implanted in Robyn survive so she has say triplets? Ha, Meri would get even more neurotic, her perfect furniture ruined, her house no longer peaceful for Kody, and Robyn whines about giving up the babies. I'd watch that season.

I laughed when Taralyce asked how long they'd be gone. I wondered if they are gone for long times so Taralyce was trying to pin them down on a time? And why is she moving with them to the big houses, is it more than just babysitting? Maybe Darger's guest appearance was really a courting trip! We couldn't get so lucky for that one!

Do you suppose they got some kind of government grant or incentive for MSWC business and that's where some of their cash is from? I'm sure they'll write off that photographer's fees as business expenses. I just don't know if there's a small business loan they could have taken out under Brown Family Entertainment or something to provide for all of these trips, rent, etc.

  28. These people have gaping emptiness inside them that they keep trying to fill. Food, children, homes they can't afford. It's sad because the only thing that would fill that emptiness is love and acceptance which is not going to happen married to 1/4 of a man-boy.

  29. Kody doesn't do ANYTHING for these women! He is more like a pimp than a husband. I thought polygamist men had the DUTY of taking care of, providing for ALL their wives/families. He doesn't do a damn thing for any of those women, or his kids! He signed up for this lifestyle to life OFF of his wives! He hasn't done anything to help Robyn pay off her debt?? He doesn't pay any bills, what exactly does he do??? Feel sorry for these women. Seems like Janelle has finally seen the light with her "run away" comment. Hmph!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I want to know she had more than two last names in her credit history.

I think all the dancing around talk about the debt had to do with her ex being a scary guy and the family is afraid of retribution.

I am totally confused. If they are moms to all the kids why does Robyn and Kody need to have a baby to hand to Meri? Mariah has multiple siblings. That is the plus of the lifestyle. They all need to get over not having several kids is not a divine punishment.

The homes are too big. Janelle is right. The kids will be home another 10 years. Some are on the way out.

I think Logan can't leave and Mariah can cause she is a daughter and expected to leave early.

I think they could afford 4 homes outright. I do not understand how in the state of Nevada there are not 4 homes for sale on the same block in a modest neighborhood? Every other state in America has this problem. Or better yet buy a parcel and do 4 or 5 townhomes. My guess is they are only securing a small loan for each property and putting loads down.

What is the point of sister wives if you need your baby sister to live with you to babysit?

IVF would be 25K. Most insurance never pays for such things, it's is mostly cash out of pocket.

    1. Well, I have three last names in my credit history, my maiden name, my first marriage and my current married name.

It's easy enough to figure out. When Robyn's mom remarried, she changed Robyn's last name to Sullivan. Then Robyn got married and her last name changed to Jessop. now she's Sullivan again.

Logan HAS left. He doesn't have a full time job I'm sure...but he made it clear last season that he was moving out. and he has - he now lives in the UNLV dorm. Did he even show up in yesterday's show, except for flashbacks? I think he just wanted to get out of the circus.

I've said this before, but I think people tend to WAY overestimate how much they're getting from TLC. $250k AT BEST a season. MAYBE. and they must be paying at least $5000-$6000 a month in rent for the four homes combined. If they had all that jack sitting around for a down payment - why does Robyn (and Janelle) still have outstanding/past due bills? $4000 should be a drop in the bucket - that's how much that collection agency bill was.

  31. I am still dumbfounded by last nights episode. Though I do enjoy watching this train wreck, I regret I won't get those 60 minutes back of my life.

A few things I would like to point out:
Kody there are in fact MANY physicians who were never inducted into national honor society in high school. For starters, how about all of your foreign medical mds? And as a personal example, my husband (who went to high school in the US) but didn't get into national honor society, however, he worked really hard through college, his masters, medical school, and then residency. It is all about hard work and determination, despite recognition.

Robyn, Robyn, Robyn, I am not even sure where to start. Your sister is now living with you and will continue to live with you when you move because you need someone to take care of your children while you "work?" What work? My Sister Wifes Closet that still doesn't have the Christmas ornament on it? 3 of your 4 children are school age. Solomon also takes naps and is old enough to play on his own in a pack n play or a safe environment for brief periods of time. Use your time wisely. As a mother of 3 and with one on the way I can say this because I know how it is done. I have no family within 300 miles, and I make it work. Plus I thought having sister wives to help raise your children was one of the benefits of your lifestyle? But instead, you go and get your nails done, who knows what you are working on, and you've now turned the Kodi Brown and dependents clan into a family of 23 with the addition of your sister. I'm sure she is getting paid somehow. Every dollar you spent was not going to provide for your children. The debt was given to you by the judge because it was yours in the first place. I would absolutely be ashamed to go on national tv, sob my eyes out, claim that I didn't have enough money for heat, and know that my divorce debt and what in fact money was spent on was available for all to see. Robyn, are not gaining any support on this one.

    1. Yeah, I was wondering about Robyn's sister. The three sister wives don't appear to be doing anything - why can't they babysit. Besides, I thought Christine's role in the family was to be the stay at home mom, since she's never had a job.

  32. Robyn said "I have to get my credit score to 600.". With? I thought these low-credit mortgages (aka sub-prime mortgages) were a thing of the past.

I have just found another radon to despise these people. In the last 6 years, our home's value has decreased by almost 50%. Why? Because of sub-prime foreclosures. We are lucky. We put a substantial down payment on our home, which is the only reason we are not underwater.

To anyone whose home equity has evaporated due to the housing market crash: Now you can put a face to that financial carnage. That face is Robyns.

  33. The part that really got me was when Robyn was talking about how she lived in a trailer with her kids "with no heat - I had to build fires in a wood stove." DUH LADY!! That's heat! And I'm sure that wood stove kept your trailer plenty warm.

  34. I feel bad for Mariah. Her mother has obviously been playing the infertility card for a long time and it has rubbed off on her child. Just look at the way Mariah reacted to Robyn's pregnancy news. I think Meri always knew about her fertility issues and that's why she embraced polygamy and now she has to deal with the consequences of her husband having to support 3 other women in their children (none of the wives except Robyn seem interested in their bonus children). She should've set Mariah down and kody for that matter and told them the truth before leading them on and the rest of America. I agree with the rest of you that this surrogacy thing has been drawn out for ratings but it shouldn't be at the expense of playing with your children's emotions because at the end of the day Mariah is still a child no matter if you guys don't like her parents or her lifestyle.

    2. Meri said she agreed to be in polygamy back before she married Kody - at 18? How would she have known that she had fertility issues at that time? In the book, and I believe in the show as well, Kody and Meri discussed how they tried to have kids and it wasn't happening...I don't think they were aware until well after their marriage that there were issues.

  35. Credit Repair companies (such as this Credit Restoration of Nevada) are notorious (and costly) rip-off scams. What typically happens is they can get a bad mark removed TEMPORARILY from your credit report BUT only to have it reappear up the road. The creditor has 30 days to prove a debt from the time you put them on notice or the Credit Reporting Agency has to remove it. BUT once the creditor furnishes the proof tho OUTSIDE of the original 30 day time period, then the overdue/unpaid debt WILL reappear.

There's something shady about this whole episode. Home loans are HARDER to get these days. CASH for a big downpayment is the key to offset bad credit and even at that, you will still not get a prime loan w/poor credit. REALITY.

    1. CRN also employs something called tradelines (also called piggybacking). It's rather involved process, but basically you pay a hefty fee ( $900+) to be setup on an established credit card account as an authorized user. The person who owns the credit card account gets a cut of the fee. Now, you won't actually get a credit card, but the tradeline ( the actual credit card account information - payment history for example) will appear on your CBR and raise your FICO score. These were always fun to catch because you'd be evaluating a CBR on someone who was born in 1980 but has a tradeline (credit card account)that opened in 1967, for example.

    2. Sweet! Nice to know people who've made sure they have a good credit rating are so willing to help out those who don't (for a cut of the fee!) These people are also the ones that will just walk away from their newly acquired debts cause they know how easy it is to start all over again. People w/good credit who are willing to do this are just perpetuating the cycle of people who aren't responsibly paying their debts and putting the ultimate cost of that back on us who do pay our credit cards! geesh. This should be fraud and prosecuted as such.

To stay interesting and to keep us watching the producers will make up story lines and push the family to follow their idea so keep the show on long as possible.
Just last week after 10 years Orange County Choppers was cancelled on Discovery.
The viewership went down, there were no more interesting hours to fill. One main character, brother Mikey, left last year. The same is going to happen with SW. Once the viewership begins to go down and the ads cannot be sold for enough money for TLC to profit after all expenses are paid SW will be cancelled. and once the
cameras are gone ...thats a family i would like to follow when they are back on their own...and Maddy...get out of there the day you can...nice to be back posting here..

  37. I hate to sound like a broken record, but I am REALLY disturbed by the sub-prime lending to the Browns. Seriously, guys, this is why our housing market is in the toilet today.

By participating in this transaction and orchestrating this financing, Mona shows that she is downright irresponsible and completely insensitive to homeonwners suffering from the housing slump. I certainly would not want her to represent me as my realtor.

At a minimum, we should "out" her behavior on realtor reviews. I also think we may want to write letters to our Congressmen.

  38. After watching the new ep last night I have a feeling that SW is coming to an end after this season or one more. It is boring and the show is centered around the theme of getting downpayment money or not..Once it becomes boring to enough people and those people like myself start missing an ep or 2 because it is getting to be 44 minutes of the same show with a twist. The producers are hanging in as long as the show makes a profit bottom line. Orange County Chopper cancelled last week. not enough viewers and no new interesting eyeball grabbing storylines. That is what will happen with SW but it will take less than 10 years. Once the teens are out the dynamic changes. I dont believe as individuals they will get their credit back where it needs to be any time soon. TLC cant do anything about that.
bottom line TLC is business and business needs ad buys to keep a show on

  40. Meri, Mariah and Kody make up quite the dysfunctional trio. It makes me laugh to keep watching the three of them all caught up in the baby drama. Mariah has no business being a part of that conversation let alone that decision and has stupid parents for even including her. In reality, Kody doesn't belong in the decision either - as he knows he will not be a hands-on father nor provider for the poor little creature. Meri LOVES being the Drama Queen and has taught Mariah well to continue her legacy.

  42. As much as I love reading the comments, I had to make my own before I forget. First, Kody and Meri qualified…what about Kodi and Christine and Kodi and Janelle, and Kodi and Robyn? So he only assumes debts of Meri? So, they are not married in every sense of the word; they are only married in the bedroom. If my husband could not put his name on my debt, he would not be my husband. Also, the entire think with Meri's daughter drives me nuts; she is such a drama queen. Every time there has been an opportunity for her to have one of those crazy assed breakdowns, she does it with full water works. Now, the last thing that most teens worry about is their parents reproductive issues: give me a break. Then, Janelle---Really, you say in the commercial you think about running away…then you laugh…then you say the responsible you steps up. That is where I realize that she is such a glutton for not only food but also emotional abuse.
Sadly, these people are for real nuts. The only one that has any gumption is Janelle's daughter and I do so feel sorry for her. Her dad doesn't encourage her nor does he show the same affection to her that he shows for Meri's overly dramatic cry baby.
That's all for me now. I have to think some more.

  43. I didn't realize the new season had started last until I was channel surfing and saw Toady (oops I mean Kody) flapping his gums about something.

As many of you have stated, I too was confused by the instant "credit fix" that Robyn was able to get. Wow, who knew you could fix your credit so quick?
Riiiight!. When my husband got divorced from his first wife, it took him years to reestablish his own credit. So, I'm not buying that a.) Robyn's bad credit magically disappeared and b.) Her $4,0000 debt was wiped clean after negotiations by Mr. Accountant.

I understand that Mariah is young, but I think emotionally, there is something there to be concerned about. Her emotions swing from one direction to the next. One minute happy, the next sad and I'll never forget the rage she had last season when the other kids pulled that DUI prank on her. I sure hope when she goes to school in Utah she'll expand her horizens a bit. I feel bad for her because she's clearly in a very unhealthy family and maybe her emotional outbursts could be her way of dealing with the dysfunction. On the surface she is a good girl who says she supports the lifestyle and desires to live it as well, but maybe deep down she really doesn't like it?

  44. Wow. So many reasons to be disappointed in last night’s show. What a slap in the face to the fans that watch this show. It was just one big fat tease from start to finish. I am in the Finance world and I can tell you that the Browns could NOT have qualified for mortgages. It is really much harder to get financing since the 2008 collapse. If they were really approved (maybe they did put the 50% down?), then shame on the lender because these houses will be in default in less than 5 years. Plus, we have witnesses that saw them at the UNLV event and Christine said they did not get the houses. So who is lying and why? The Browns were live tweeting and they were being coy “we still have a lot of work to do”…blah blah blah. And Kody tweets “why so cynical? We are giving you a gift” which I am certain was a tweet aimed at the teenagers that said on the couch that they still didn’t believe it was going to happen. Geez Kody, can’t you figure out that the kids are saying that based on the constant promises you have put out there and haven’t fulfilled?
A couple of things about Taralyce. If I had the skills (CJ?) I would stop the picture at when Robyn is handing Sol to Taralyce, Kody was staring right at her chest and had the most smarmy look on his face. And then he turned red. Uh, Sister Wife Number 5 anyone? Robyn just happened to mention that Taralyce would be living with her in the new house to help with the kids. Ok, well Sol is the only baby and I thought the whole point of the culdesac houses was that they would all be so available to each other. Why can’t the barren and lonely Meri help out with Sol? Why can’t Christine help out and Robyn pay her some $$ for her assistance. Wasn’t that one of the selling points of sisterwives is that there was always someone there for the kids? Why would she need her sister to move in permanently? Taralyce is young and from a polygamist family. Look for more on her and watch the interactions with Kody. Actually that storyline would interest me because the financing of the houses and the constant harping about Meri’s infertility makes for some BORING television. I am much less interested in watching next week knowing that we will again have to see Meri pretend to go visit a fertility doctor and pretend she is considering it. I would rather watch Sunday Night Football with my husband and dvr the show for another day.

  45. I have a question that maybe somebody on here can answer for me? I think I missed something last season. Its on last night's episode where Logan is deciding on which school to attend. Has he been accepted to either of these Universities? They've dragged out the whole surrogacy and homes thing that I would think they'd drag out an episode about Logan and his acceptance letters. "Today the whole family is meeting at Jannelle's house to wait for the mail lady and walk on over to the mailbox, all 17 of us, and we're going to pick up the letters from the University, and hopefully get some good news! 46. Here's my conclusion - What we are watching is a scam/grift. The scam ISN'T being done by TLC - TLC is simply the network which promotes and airs the show. And it was obvious - to MANY of us here - that TLC is losing interest altogether in this show. little or no promotion. Very few promotional appearances this time out compared to past seasons. We ALL know that TLC has the Dargers' show waiting in the wings...

BIG tip-off for me - all the commercials we saw for the Breaking Amish Special (which were aired WAY more than any SW spots). I've not watched the show but what interested me was the interviewer asking the participants if they made up their story for the show!! if TLC is airing that kind of interview question as a teaser for people to watch the special for one of their hottest current shows - the participants being asked if they are lying - then why would they be making stuff up for the Browns'? Lets go back in TV history to the 1950s and the Quiz Show Scandals. The networks made stuff up, gave contestants answers to questions ahead of time and what happened? They got in BIG trouble. This might not be on the same scale, but the fact is - letting the family basically screw things up makes for better TV than if the situations were created for them.

so it's not TLC. WHY would they want to? In the end SW is just another reality show for them. it's had its run, now it's time for it to become history except for an occasional special maybe.

The concept for them is there...they do catch the attention of the audience, but when the show starts then as it goes along the audience starts to think....what??? This makes no sense. The audience starts slipping away. "Breaking Amish" is one and done! This has got to be it for "Sisterwives"...if not for the sake of the children that they need to settle down for and stop all the drama. Maybe the little kids don't have a clue to what's going on, but the older ones do...they have computers and phones. They see.

  47. Part II:

Figure 8 Films might be PARTIALLY responsible - but again, just like TLC - they have a history of shows, and more shows coming down the pike. Also - I get the impression that F8F just doesn't have enough $$$ to be able to finance the Browns even if they WANTED to. We aren't talking Paramount Pictures here - we are talking about a production company, based in North Carolina, that films cheap reality shows. I'm fairly sure they don't have $1.5 million dollars extra lying around to just give to the Browns (or 40% of that for that matter).

Nope. The grifting and lying is coming directly from Kody Brown. The wives will pretty much do whatever he tells them to do, and what Kody wants is to keep the TLC Money rolling in. They've already lost Logan - was he even ON the show last night except for some flashbacks? Logan could've stayed at home and gone to school from there and saved $$ instead of moving into the dorm. IMO he wanted out of the whole circus, not just because he's sick of being a babysitter, but because he's an honest kid and is tired of the whole TV/grifter thing.

IMO - it was Kody who approved most of the lies and half truths. it was Kody who had the idea to have the FAKE pre-approval letters. (did ANYONE catch a letterhead on those pieces of paper...? Wouldn't a lending institution send a loan approval (or decline) on its own letterhead? All I saw was what looked to be a few paragraphs...)

TLC had nothing to do with it - they are not the producers - they just air and promote the show. F8F might have had SOMETHING to do with it - but I think they're following Kody's lead and just filming away.
It's primarily Kody - and the wives are just going along with the scam, as usual.

Mona strikes me as not the brightest bulb in the box - she is probably enjoying being known as "the real estate agent to the Sister Wives" and the way that whole meeting at the end was played out by her with the suspenseful "we've got to talk" and dropping hints that not everyone might have passed...then Christine talking about oh i missed the water bill...it was all done for DRAMA. and had a fake feel to it.

Kody is charismatic to many people, so it doesn't surprise me that he would be able to persuade Mona, the credit dude, and whoever else into going along with his scam, saying OH it's just a little Reality TV show and we all KNOW they aren't real (just like the perpetrators did in the Quiz Show Scandals - it's just harmless entertainment)...and you'll get free advertising...

And of course what is he doing for $$ now - pushing an MLM, like a typical scammer. Don't blame TLC - blame Kody IMO.

Something else I noticed - when Kody was looking at Maddie as she was expressing (as she's stated before in past seasons) that she wants nothing to do with polygamy and so on - the camera (and his hair) hid his face from view as he looked directly at her. I think she might have been a bit scared, but she's a brave girl and kept right on talking. I would have liked to have seen the expression on his face at that point.

He talks a good game about the kids being able to make up their own minds but I will bet that the kids who opt NOT to be plyg will be cut out of his life once they come of age and leave the nest. 2. My thoughts exactly. Okay, maybe Tara and Robyn are really close and maybe Robyn is paying her (kinda doubt it) to watch the kids but shouldn't a young, single woman be out on her own living her own life instead of living with her sister's family? One of the other sister wives should definitely be taking care of Sol if Robyn really is working (I'm a stay at home mom with an 8 month old and no babysitter am and currently working on starting a business. I work on the business plan and make phone calls while he is napping or in bed for the night. It's not that hard - you just have to manage your time wisely - well, when you're not reading SWB lol).

It just seems weird that Tara is living with her. Assuming they don't get the houses (which Christine stated) maybe Kody decides "eff it, I'm going to go ahead and take Tara and my 5th wife and we'll just find a bigger place where we can fit 5 houses."

But it just doesn't seem likely that Robyn would let Kody take another wife - especially her sister. The only way I can see Robyn being okay with that is if it gets them another season and another bunch of paychecks from TLC.

Also - anyone else notice Kody holding that green drink crap in his arms like it was a baby during the seem where they are getting ready to go to Mariah's NHS induction?

    3. Yes, I think part of the reason the Dargers will be on the show is to 'prepare' viewers that its 'normal' in their culture to marry sisters, twins, counsins, just as long as they are 18 or older.

      Delete
  53. I pray for Jannelle to get out like Mariah prays for her mom to have another baby.

Not really, I'm being colorful with it, but still! I use to feel so badly for Christine but that ended after last night. She feels like a single mother because she has to pay her own bills? Wow! She doesn't even work for the money she uses to pay for those bills. Is it really so hard to sit down and write a few checks. For somebody who has so many kids you would think she'd be a bit tougher. I guess I just always think about the good and bad that could come out of any situation before I get in to it. Didn't she ever think before she got married and had kids to a man who already had other wives and kids that maybe one day God forbid, she should prepare to make it on her own? I suppose you can never be enough prepared for the worst but i like to have a back up plan, or I am terribly pessimistic. Or an adult.

Meri's fertility issues? Girlfriend give it a rest! You're 45(i think). At least you have one. Maybe help Mariah out with her kids. Shes going to be a sister wife, shes going to need all the help she can get! It must be terrible to want to have children and not be able to but I dont think I would make everyone else suffer for it. I couldn't believe that Janelle was okay with Meri having the same budget as her.

Ghost children that never were, ghost homes that will never be. If they want to keep this cash cow Somebody in that family better get a D.U.I. or come out of the closet because the way its looking this is going to be the last season.

  54. The story line I was hoping for, was that Robyn would not be approved and that she and her best pal Meri would have to consider moving in together. But of course Meri doesn’t want or would not allow that. She actually wants to have more than all the wives, which is why she whines about being equal. But, but, but...splitting the money evenly among the mothers, is in no way equal at all. Just goes to show how much control Meri try to have and how much control the other mothers give her.

Meri is also using the fertility issue to exert control. She has the ear and mind of Kody, until she decides. The more she drags out the decision, the more she has his time. She is selfish and they are allowing her to be that way.
They should have three homes. One home for her and Robyn, one for Christine and one for Jenelle.

Also they better watch out for Taralyce, Kody might pull a Joe Darger, and decide he wants her too. Joe ended up with twin sisters. You just never know. Once Robyn is no long the hot (rolls eyes) young babe....Kody will be looking for another young tender babe to validate his inflated sense of self.

  55. It is frustrating to watch this show when the rest of America is struggling with unemployment, high gas prices, higher grocery costs and just struggling to live within their means! I drives me nuts to hear Mari whine that she deserves a 7 bedroom house, get real! If she was working fulltime and could afford it herself, then fine. She claims to be so close to Robyn why cant she share a house with her, maybe have a specially built mother -in- law type apartment onto the house so she can keep her things nice and still have privacy? Seriously, making sacrifices is part of survival these days. I feel bad for Janelle, she does the bills and knows the costs....i wouldnt want that on my shoulders, i would never sleep at night with all that stress! She even admitted that in Utah, money was tight and they were "house-poor" to the point it was scarey at times.

  56. At Cat Loaf, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe that is the reason for the dargers visit, since he is married to 2 sisters. Something to think about.

  57. This show was really kind of shocking to watch.

Mariah strikes me as quite strange. I used to think she was really with it but after that scene about her prayers for a sibling every night... sheesh! She has like 16 siblings, doesn't she?!

I really can not believe that Robyn got her credit cleaned up in less than 30 days. How is that possible? I really didn't think that all four of them would be approved and I'm wondering if they really did.

Here is my issue.... they all want to live in one house or shoulder to shoulder, right? Well, here is a solution.... Janelle and Christine (who have the most kids) each get a house and Robyn and Meri get paired up with one of them. Obviously, Janelle and Meri couldn't live together but I could see Janelle and Robyn sharing a home and Christine and Meri sharing a home. And they don't have to be big brand new homes! They could buy a cheaper older home with 4 bedrooms and two baths! One bedroom for each mom, one bedroom for boys and one for girls. It's a simple, frugal solution.

I just don't understand why all 4 of them "need" great big brand new houses! Especially Meri! Oh, that really gets to me. I'm proud of Janelle for saying that she was trying to feed her children at the same time that Meri "needed a big house with a pool." One of the wives tweeted or said in an interview this morning that they divide the resources equally. Well, that's just plain dumb. Christine and Janelle obviously NEED more money than Meri! Shoot!

Okay.... obviously, Meri does not want to have another baby. For all her crying and heartache over this, she's obviously over it. The reason she is crying now is that she feels pressure to go through with it. I bet she resents Robyn for making "an offer that Meri CAN'T refuse."

    ReplyDelete
  58. I have also wondered why Logan was pressured to stay in state and go to UNLV while Mariah going to school in Utah is fine and dandy with Meri and Kody. I think this is because Mariah will probably marry very young, probably at 18 or 19 and will then be her husband’s responsibility. In fact, who knows, maybe Mariah is already spoken for. Poor Mariah, she really thinks she can be a doctor and live a plural marriage? Seriously? She can’t even say “the principle” or “plural marriage” or even “celestial marriage”, she just says “I am going to have sisterwives, I know I am, I AM”….Seems like a ridiculous way to phrase it, like she is going to have a group of besties and go to the mall. I know she is a kid and all but seriously in two years she will most likely be married and pregnant soon thereafter. And once those babies start coming (hopefully for her sake she won’t have fertility issues) she won’t have time for medical school. And not dissing anyone, but does anyone here know how hard it is to get into medical school? But if getting married and having sisterwives will keep her from praying EVERY single night of her LIFE that Meri have another baby, then by all means she should go for it.

  59. In much anticipation of CJ's Review.....

My take on this is that Sister Wives, the show.....
Is now a bona fide, low-rung *Soap Opera.*
It is all a made-for-TV soap opera.

None of the main storylines on last night's episode are real or true.
It is all scripted drama, engaging characters like Mona the miracle worker RE Agent and the equally miracle-producing, debt-scouring/credit lawyer.
Hmm....I wonder if Mona is paid "scale" for her appearances, or is she now considered a feature player.

I am still laughing at the check-writing scenes of last season and again featured last night..What RE agent would stand outside in the hot wind and have "her clients" writing five thousand dollar checks while balancing their checkbooks on the fender of the car. Drama, drama !!

Last season we had the fertility doctor asking those pesky questions on camera of Meri and Kody and *causing them to blush and act shocked*....drama, drama !!!
    Sooooo soap opera-ish.

Robin's offer to incubate for Meri right after childbirth as the heart-tugging cliffhanger for the next season was...pure "As the World Turns"...
Or more specific to KodyWorld..."As the Tears Flow"

Interesting that as far as Maddie is concerned, we are meant to see that she is not so bonded with her Plyg Sibs. Not at all, since her friends of choice are not of Plygland and she is seen as quite comfortable with non-plygs. I guess she is being cast as the *rebel*....every good soap opera needs to have a few of those.

And in her case, she is a very pretty and smart young woman....
In *real life,* I do hope this experience/ scam perpetrated by her parents really does inspire her to leave the Brown circus when she is legally of age to do so.

  60. Great to see that I am not the lone ranger on this motley crew. I am with CJ- I call BS on the credit repair, and with the other ladies having Bankruptcies in the past 10 years (maybe one is older) I REALLY CALL BS. CHRISTINE just filed!!!!
I also CALL BOO on this family being this arrogant. ALL have filed or are blowing off tons of debt, but they need 4 large homes? They are SHADY SHADY PEOPLE that really need some prayers! I used to think they were good parents, but then again, good parents own up to their children and live simply.
Don't get me started on Robyn's jerk story. Her ex MUST be getting paid off not to ROAR. Those debts were HERS on HER stuff. I was hoping they's mention the VS debt, but of course not!
Mariah needs counseling or to go back and get married next year and have her own. Meri is being smart. If she wanted that baby, it would already be here. Kody is scum for torturing her. I missed it, but can someone tell me, DID he say he would have more children????
Maybe she should "meet" the ones he has!
And what about when we met Robyn, was that home rented by TLC? I BET SO!
Many have had hard times Robyn. Shut the $%^& up.
Janelle, now i am liking her sassiness. she knows they would fall apart without her, and loves it!
Shame on them for wanting more than they need. Get 4 townshomes in foreclosure and get over it, you'll be defalting on those when TLC dries up!

    1. So true! Robyn playing the martyr is incredibly grating considering it was her debt. Even if her ex was the biggest jerk in the world, the constant digging at him and not-so-subtly implying how awful he was to her (especially last season when she kept saying talking about how she's never had a nursery before, etc) doesn't win her any points.

I’ve been reading the blog for a while and love seeing everyone’s thoughts about this train wreck of a family. Like many, I enjoyed the first season, when it was more about the day to day lives of a polygamist AUB family (a topic that fascinates me.) For me, the show went downhill quickly when all of this manufactured drama happened; getting out of town so they were “safe” and beyond. I still like the show, but I no longer like the Brown family.

Unlike many others, I do feel sorry for Meri. I cannot imagine being so deeply invested in a culture where childbearing increased my value as a woman. With the obvious tensions between the first three wives, it seems clear that Janelle and Christine have pulled rank using their kids, while Meri has done the same using her status as first wife (as well as the only wife that Kody obviously loves.) IMHO, TLC producers saw this and found a way to explore (exploit) it on TV in the form of the houses. Unless the family wants to live apart from each other, it is a moot point, anyway. They developer has a limited number of floor plans. Just because they are “buying” the land does not mean they can put a 2 bedroom house next to a 7 bedroom house (yes, I know the land is still undeveloped.) Perhaps it is because I am childless, but I can understand the desire to not be short changed just because of children. I can’t really relate to being a sister wife, but, for instance, if my parents were building homes for both my brother and his family and me and my husband, I would be hurt if I got a considerably less expensive home just because we chose not to have children while my brother picked a different path (totally hypothetical, as I don’t come from money.) In a culture that already devalues Meri because of her infertility, I can see where it would be another slap in the fact to have the fertile wives live in McMansions while she lived in a 2 bedroom house or apartment somewhere. As I said earlier, I think it is all manufactured anyway; a developer does not through a modest home into a neighborhood full of McMansions.

The ideal situation, of course, it to renovate the Lehi homestead to accommodate Cryin’ Robin or find a place to build another giant, multi-family home. In that case, the wives all have the same caliber of home.

    1. I like your point about Meri and I do agree with it. I think instead of focusing on the fact that Meri is getting more than she needs (in the other sister wives eyes), they all need to scale down their "needs". I thought Janelle was right on point last night when she was talking about how her kids don't spend a lot of time in their bedrooms, that it was the living areas they were in. And she's going to have her kids share rooms. Even though some of the families are larger, they absolutely can scale down the houses/number of bedrooms/ammenities to at least make this a little more affordable for them (these or any other houses). Actually, if they just rented for another 2 years or so, they could considerably downsize their needs as many of the teens would be going off to college by then!

  63. Wow, Robyn is like a Real Housewife of Plygville with her sister/nanny, so she can "work," by which I mean go to Disneyworld and romantic trips. I'm cool with staging reality shows, but this was all just lies, and BORING lies with a lot of ugly offices and crying.

RUN JANELLE!!! RUN! Let these idiots drown in their stupidity. Go make your own planet.

I paid one credit card bill a few days late in college and it still haunts me 5 years later (though my credit score is in the mid-700s). And these crazies get delinquent accounts just expunged. Me thinks not. You'd think Christine could get her act together to pay the water bill on time for a few weeks while they're waiting to get approved. Ridic.

    Random thoughts:

It broke my heart that Christine would somehow tie a mortgage approval to being “overweight” all of her life. Fat shaming disgusts me and Kody needs to repair the damage he has done. Kody: you are not a man, in my book.

During the photo shoot montage there was one shot of Kody in focus and the women in the background out of focus. That shot just about summarizes the whole story line.

Janelle mentioned that she wondered what would happen if she just ran away (speaking of finances when she said it.) Janelle: the audience wonders, too. Run, run away (and don’t come back this time.) Many of us are behind you; Godspeed, Janelle.

Robyn: 3 last names? Sullivan, married name, and… Sounds a little squirrely to me.

Sol has a full time nanny? What? And the way Robin talked about her children when she was mentioning the debt: “I had these children to pay for.” Something about the relationship with her kids feels off.

MSWC is really a full time job for Robin? Really? Really?

    1. I couldnt believe it! Full time nanny/sister is living with Robyn. That means another mouth that Janelle has to feed because if she is living there and babysitting full time she doesnt have a job hence, she doesnt support herself. I still cant believe it.

During the photo shoot for MSWC, when Kody is complaining about being in the pictures, Christine states, "But when a woman has a business, her husband is always featured with her in the photos because they are a unit." That's just stupid! I'm not putting my husband in the pictures with me for my business. He supports me but he's not the one who will be providing the service to my clients. Although, props to her for basically telling him to just shut up so could get the show on the road. I was delighted at seeing the look on his face when she yelled at him!

  69. I have soooo much to comment on I don't know where to start!

First, the infertility thing. I have also suffered infertility and went through multiple IVFs. It is a grueling, expensive, exhausting process. And when it doesn't work, it is absolutely beyond devastating. For ANYONE to pressure someone into that is completely unreasonable. Maybe someone should explain the process to Mariah so she realizes what she is asking. Surrogacy also isn't a "put your embryo in me and then I'll give you a baby" situation. It is even more complicated than regular IVF and brings A LOT of added emotional issues. Which this family obviously isn't qualified to cope with since they are literally not supposed to ever mention unhappiness and always remain "sweet.". For the person who asked, IVF out of pocket costs anywhere from 15-25K depending on the doctor and the cycle. This doesn't include meds which can easily be another 5K.

That said, Meri is full of BS. She obviously has no desire for more kids (or to do IVF and for that I don't blame her. Success rates after 40 are not good. And that's due to egg quality, something gestational surrogacy wouldn't help) but she is milking this either because TLC is telling her to or because she wants the attention. Maybe both. I think she started on this plot line for ratings and now it's blowing up in her face as Mariah is actually taking it seriously.

Also Meri does not deserve or need a big house. Maybe Grody is pushing for it too because he uses her place as his alone place too? Those two seem thick as thieves to me and I think they are in cahoots about what happens with this family and then just bully the others to follow.

    ...continued in next post...

  70. Robyn, why was she crying in the couch interview when she already knew they had been "approved?" Seriously? This show is so fake. They so did not get approved for that many big loans. They did not buy the houses. They filmed this at so many different times as judged by Sol's development. And again with recycled footage from last season (or who knows when)?

Grody is a grade A narcissist. He interjects himself into everything, wanted or not. he disgusts me. He is no parent at all, he has caused these women nothing but burden and he only cares about himself. It's beyond sad. Does he even realize how much his kids are going to hare him when they get older and see who he is? The little ones want his attention right now as all children want their parents' attention. But they will grow up and HATE him when they see all of these lies and see his selfish, cowardly, ignorant bullying on display. The teens are already seeing it. Mariah has obviously been pushed by peers or whoever telling her polygamy isn't that great so is reacting by saying "I WILL have sister wives". But if we all did what we swore we'd do when we were 17, I'd be a rodeo clown married to Johnny Depp. So.... Let's see if she's smart enough to see things for what they are once she's had a chance to grow up a little.

I truly hope these kids aren't scarred for life due to their horrendous home life. Also, I was pretty disappointed that Christine, who has seemed kind of innocent and honest until now, was obviously all in on the lies now.

And what is going on with that photoshoot and the website that isn't even working now? That shoot took place months ago, and their "business" that they're working so hard at isn't even live. These people are so full of it. And no, Grody shouldn't have been in the shoot but didn't he enjoy the ego stroking and being the center of attention? Calling himself a pool boy? That made me vomit in my mouth a little.. He's like 50, balding, has beady little eyes, and a gut. Some hot pool boy, huh?

And are these people's lives really so boring that they have to drag out every tiny thing, repeating over and over for anti-climactic nonsense? That episode was booooring. And annoying because we know it's all lies and recycled footage.

Bleh. I agree with the person who said that I see this family splitting up. Their "fame" is the best thing that could have happened I think. It'll shake at least Janelle into realizing what she's putting up with, it'll show Christine she gets no love or respect, and hopefully open the eyes of the kids and give them a chance for better lives. No one in this group acts like they're "one family" anyway. They don't want to live together, they don't see each others kids as theirs, they don't get along, they are jealous of each other, they take from each other, etc. It's the height of dysfunction.

That's my 2 cents anyway. Can't wait to see the CJ analysis. :)

We have a lot of ladies say they have a friend that they have a "sisterwife" like relationship with. 75. So, watched the show and as disgusting as it is, I must say its like a train wreck and I can not look away.

For some reason, Robyn is the one that really gets under my skin. The way she makes all these "sexual innuendos" then hides her face in her sweater like she didn't mean to say something "naughty"...she does it all the time then acts like, "oh my gosh I didn't mean it that way"....Soooooo nerdy...its a complete example of an "uncool" trying sooooo hard to be cool! Barf!

And all the crying about how she didn't want to bring this family into her problems. Give me a break. She is soooo nauseatingly fake...she wanted in on this deal no matter the cost to anyone...now she is dragging her sister into it to slave for her...wife number 5???

Meri's daughter...get a grip. To rip off your microphone and leave the room cuz your mom can't get pregnant and doesn't want doofus Robyn carrying her child...eeesh!

Janelle shouldn't have been so quick to make light of her comment saying "sometimes I wonder what it would be like to just leave"...JANELLE...sit on that thought a while...Its NOT a bad idea!

4 houses...well, I feel like all of you feel...the approvals must have soooooo many conditions that will not be able to met and therefore a closing on these homes is unlikely. Even if they DID close....I see 4 foreclosures. I do not see why they aren't buying land somewhere and making one home. They don't need an entire subdivision!

Very obvious Kody makes that one daughter sick. Her body language was pure disgust sitting next to him and she seems very bitter towards him.

Yet, with all that said, I am sure I will be tuned in next week to torture myself some more.

When I very first started watching the show (1st season)..I was keeping open heart and mind thinking...to each his own and if this is what is right for them, then more power to them. It wasn't long before I realized it wasn't a happy situation for MOST of the clan. I know alot of you don't care for Meri, but I keep feeling like she wants more from her life and for that reason, I keep expecting HER to be the one that wants to break free. Maybe a Meri on her own show..lol...She is at a point in her life where her child is grown and off to college and in the best position to say "ENOUGH"...It saddens me too that she is so blinded by Robyn's "friendship"...My intuition is telling me Robyns kiss ass approach with Meri is one that is not sincere, but rather "look at me, look at what a great friend I am"...I mean really how many times does Robyn need to sob and go on about offering her loins to Meri...Its for ATTENTION! She wants to be the one who can forever say, "LOOK what I did"...Its creepy...If it were coming from someone who was genuine about wanting to help Meri, it could be a beautiful thing, but I don't get that from ROBYN..I think she's manipulative, attention seeking...I think she causes more division in that adds to this family.

  77. Wow, what a train wreck... I had numerous thought on the show, most of them not good.
First, I want to say "How in the H*** did THEY get approved for loans, with their credit scores they wouldn't even qualify for a credit card let alone a house.
Second, I noticed during the photo session Kody kept saying "It's about sister wives, and girl power, I shouldn't be in this picture", that cracked me up because the show is SISTER WIVES not the Kody show so why is he shown so much on the show. I also wondered if maybe a certain wife of his has been reading here and notice how people are always commenting on him being shown too much.
Third, I don't understand why they keep pushing the pregnancy thing with Meri, its obvious that she does not want another baby..end of story. If she wanted another baby she would have accepted Kody's offer from the first season, when they had gone to Mexico for their anniversary. Why would any of them think that she would want to raise another kid when the other one is going to be out of the house in less than a year. Meri's whining about how bad she wants a baby is just to make herself look better (in their religion the more children you have, the more you are valued). I think that the couch session with Mariah was all scripted, I mean honestly, what teenager that is 18 wants their mom to have a baby, and what kid who has been an only child from mom and dad would want that to end after 18 years.
At last but not least, I wonder about Robyn's sister living with her... possibly a 5th wife??? Hummmm

  78. Don't want to rehash what everyone else has posted, but I had a couple of "yell at the screen" moments that just so infuriated me:

    1. After Mariah slumps off in tears after basically saying her mother is selfish to keep this baby from them by not agreeing to Robyn's offer, instead of offering support to his obviously upset wife, Kody has the unmitigated balls to say, "I'm kind of with Mariah on this" !!!!! SERIOUSLY???? He is beyond cruel, delusional and scummy. How do you support a spoiled teenager's rant on something that is none of her business and use it as a springboard to push your egotistical agenda. (yelling at the screen ensued)

    2. Janelle walking through the model, looking at ways to cut costs. She's looking at kids sharing rooms, not having a dining room, and doing what she can to keep the budget down... and all the time I'm picturing Meri whining about a deck and a wetbar doing NOTHING to even out the fact that she neither needs or deserves a 7 bedroom house.

Whether or not this is all scripted, and the houses never come to be, I'm still appalled by these people. I am newly floored whenever I watch this show at what comes out of their mouths and their behavior.

    Okay, rant over. (whew)

Did you see how she jumped in to say she wasn't doing anything shady, but then kind of did say she was trying to hide from creditors? I think she went by a different name to avoid her debt and then used that new name to rack up more debt since it's showing in her credit report.

I loved how F8F made a point of showing her say her last name is Sullivan at the lawyer's. Haha

    1. I'm telling you...that Robyn is SHADY! She's twisted. She's so over the top with the crying, cocky and know it all the next...there is something super creepy about her and I'm pretty intuitive.

  80. I'd love to see only Janelle end up with the house because she's the one who will work and seems the most financially responsible. Then TLC can have a shot of her at the door waving, then panning to their sad little faces standing on the outside looking in.
Yah this has to be the end for these folks

    1. HAHAHA!!!! Even better, get a totally different house...location unknown...and get the hell out of dodge! She's already supporting the entire family...get out...she'll be better off...its not like Kootie fills the "husband role" of emotional support, financial support, hands on dad or even sexual (she's already admitted there relationship has merely been more friendship based)...fine, keep him as a "friend" who gets a no return address Christmas card each year! lol

  81. I started watching this show in the begining out of curiosity. Now I watch it to see the train wreck. It infuriates me. That Janelle when she was working should have the same budget as Meri. Janelle went without so that Meri could have. Are you kidding me?? I understand alittle more now that they all get equal shares since they are all paid equally for their participation in the show. But not back in Utah. No way no how!. And Robyn. Really you poor baby you had to live in a trailer with a wood stove for heat?? Do you know how many people you insulted with that comment. A wood burning stove is a source of heat. Dang!! I think they need to get back to basics. The best way for a family to come closer is to go with out, to struggle, get creative when your broke. Be thankful for what you have!! Not move into four super homes next to each other worth a couple of million dollars. I completely agree with all the comments made on this post. I feel bad for the Browns their day in the sun is almost done!! Selfish selfish selfish People. TLC better come up with a different storyline fast. I agree about Taralyce living with Robyn and acting as a sisterwife to her. Think Kody will pursue that one???

  82. I agree!!! they are some of the most GREEDY people. I bet people from their church are appalled by thier greed and entitlement. Their lives have nothing to do with God. Sucess makes you the person you REALLY are and these people are a walking billboard for it.

  83. When Kody was sitting on the couch with Madison and Janelle and said to the camera, "She is NOT brainwashed by religion!", it was so awkward and uncomfortable. It felt like either he was protesting too much or was making a passive aggressive dig at her for not wanting to be plyg.

  84. Yes, the sense of entitlement is absurd...while everyone is entitled to abundance in their life, it doesn't mean living irresponsibly above your means. The means need to come first. Once you have the means...then live it up...but, at this point, they are just digging themselves into another hole!

Meri should take that preapproval letter and get a small little condo on the beach and start over! With her daughter gone...get out of this financial disaster and oppression hanging over this family.

Janelle, you too, take that approval letter and run! You ARE the provider...take care of yourself and your kids..your doing it now anyway and sharing it with 3 other families!

Let Robyn and Christine (unitl christine finally wakes up) move into apartment with tons of bunk beds with their Kootie hunkalicous. Gross!

  85. I'm glad I found this blog because I was fuming after last night's episode.

First of all, I don't buy that they all got pre-qualified or pre-approved or whatever it is they say they got. Cleaning up your credit takes a long time, not merely 30 days. I didn't feel any sympathy for Robin and her "I'm sorry, I have 3 kids and I can't pay for it" yet they go to wonderful vacations, they rent a huge house for Christmas, etc.

Meri is probably one of the most selfish people I've ever seen. I don't care she always wanted to have more children and she only had one, it doesn't make sense that she gets the same size house as the other wives, not even Robin should get the same size house as Janelle and Christine, she has less kids, she needs less rooms. How hard to understand is that? In fact, since Meri was the one of the idea of the 4th wife, maybe she should share a house with Robin. I bet they would stop getting along so well.

I'm also pretty tired about the baby thing. Please, you're not in a healthy monetary situation. How can you think of bringing another child into the world? Are you crazy???? TLC might not provide all their lives, look at what happened to the Gooselins.

I feel extremely bad for Christine and Janelle. Christine has been ignored since Kody found Robin (who in the right mind would get another "wife" right after Christine gave birth to their child???? The timing was way off there). And Janelle, all her life working and making more money than the other two so that it gets spent in honeymoons to Mexico for Meri and Robin.

I'm just sorry for all those kids living in this messed-up situation. They don't deserve it!!!

  86. I used to think that some reality t.v. shows had some "truth" to them, but I no longer believe that is the case with Sister Wives. After watching "Breaking Amish", and now finding out the truth about most of the members on the show, I have a very hard time believing that TLC had no clue about the real truth on that cast (all it takes are a few google searches to find things out). Therefore, I have a hard time believing TLC doesn't have something to do with plumping up the story line on Sister Wives.

We are to believe that Robyn goes in and "poof" her $4K debt is wiped clean after one phone call. That Meri is still mulling over the idea of having another baby...blah blah blah.

The only truthful moment I saw last night was Madi's feelings, and Christine's. Christine was heartbreaking when she actually stated that she had been a failure all of her life, etc..

When I saw Robyn's sister, I wondered if she was going to be the next Sister Wife.
