Something weird is going on...
Well, when talking about Kody Brown and his Ko-dependent Kodettes, that's an understatement. But something weird is definitely going on with this show.
In less than 2 weeks, the season premieres, but all we have seen are a few random commercials that cryptically show clips that sort of makes you think the Browns may be falling apart.
So what's really happening on this show?
From TLC's website, here is a description of Nov. 18th show:
Desperate to get their family back together, the Browns put money down to hold land in order to build homes altogether on one cul de sac. But the shockingly bad credit of one wife could hold back the entire family.
Doesn't this seem rather contrived? Surely Robyn's credit can't suck as much as her other sisterwive's, can it? I'm going to leave Janelle out of this mess because she did >cough< qualify >cough cough< for a home loan back in Lehi. And wouldn't Robyn's credit problems have been apparent to Kody before he snuck his family out Utah to the safety of his own personal Plymouth Rock in Las Vegas?
Obviously, Kody must have blinded by the lights of Vegas and his
Sorry, I'm just not buying all this drama. It's got to have been manufactured for the show, especially when you take into consideration all those happy go lucky tweets the Browns have been making all summer. And all those road trips.
Gee, Robyn's bad credit screwed us out of 4 McMansions. Let's go to Disneyland! Watch out for ghetto Wal-Marts, we want only Wal-Marts in the best neighborhoods! With lots of gated cul-de-sacs, too!
Here's a link to an article (including a very long video) on eonline.com offering an EXCLUSIVE 'sneak peak' of the new season. (What happened to Starcasm? Moving on up I guess....hmmmm)
http://www.eonline.com/news/361875/sister-wives-sneak-peek-one-wife-contemplates-leaving-while-another-s-past-catches-up-with-her
So what do you think? Are the developments mentioned in the eonline.com article real or just drama for the show?
Let's discuss !!!
Hey wait! I'm not finished yet!
I just happened to look at Robyn's twitter tweets and found some real gems!
@luvgvsuwngs @meribrown1 Wow sounds like a bigFU to @janellebrown117 & @rosecolored6.They r not what sisterwives are all about? #epicfail!Yep, that looks like a classic Robyn oopsie to me, too! So sorry Janelle and Christine, but you just don't cut the sisterwife's mustard with Robyn...
— leslie turner (@burrage44) November 7, 2012
And the next tweet confirms it. Let's just file this one under DAMAGE CONTROL #3,249,766
"@rosecolored6: Me and my sisterwife! instagr.am/p/RyFiqrx4jp/"I love this pic!
— Robyn Sullivan Brown (@LuvgvsUwngs) November 8, 2012
Still waiting for the Janelle pic, but I'm not holding my breath for that one!
You know, someone really needs to start monitoring Robyn's tweets...they are getting to be like when she was pregnant with Sol. Hey, y'all don't think Robyn could be preggers again?
Oh no, she's tweeting again!
Today I am thankful for baby sister Taralyce who cares for Solomon and my children while I work. She is a good little mommy.
— Robyn Sullivan Brown (@LuvgvsUwngs) November 9, 2012
Whoa!!! Not only is Robyn "working", she's got her sister (who if you look real close you can spot her a couple of times standing in the background last season...) Sounds like Robyn's got a 'nanny'.... just like all those rich Real Housewives. But Robyn, I thought you said a perk of having sisterwives was that they could step in and be a mommy for you? Guess we were wrong on that one! Nice going, Robyn! You've now insulted all your sisterwives...they are not worthy! And why did you exclude Sol from the rest of your children? Exactly who does Sol belong to, and why is he so special that you would exclude him from your other 3 children?
I don't think tweeting each day to honor Thanksgiving is working out for Robyn.
But just when you think it couldn't get worse...here's Robyn's thankful tweet for today, 11/10/12
Today I am thankful for quiet moments at the salon with my nail tech when my hands are busy so I have to put my phone away and stop working.
— Robyn Sullivan Brown (@LuvgvsUwngs) November 11, 2012
Words simply cannot describe the utter shallowness of that preceding statement. People are out of work (except for Robyn's nail tech ), without homes because of Hurricane Sandy, and all this woman can think about is herself? How busy she is??? And that she's thankful for her quiet time with her nail tech?
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS WOMAN????
Sounds to me like she's going for the Marie Antoinette The People are Hungry so Let Them Eat Cake Award for being an utter shallow fool.
And for those of you out there still wondering what this shallow idjit works so hard at that she needs quiet time for those overworked hands of hers...
@2004aumom I work at mysisterwifescloset.com. I am busy developing new products & marketing strategies with my sisterwives & managing finances.
— Robyn Sullivan Brown (@LuvgvsUwngs) November 11, 2012
YEAH, RIGHT! And I'm a rocket scientist working on the replacement for the space shuttle! To quote my BFF, that b**** has definitely gone cuckooly bird!
PS...Marie Antoinette didn't really say let them eat cake, but you get my drift.
November 11, 2012 VETERAN'S DAY
Today I'm thankful that Janelle Brown has twitter and knows what to say so she doesn't look like a shallow self-indulgent mindless twit...
In this month of Thanksgiving I am especially grateful for the past and present sacrifices of all our military personnel .#proudamerican
— Janelle Brown (@JanelleBrown117) November 11, 2012
Okay, I'm finished now!
The credit stuff has to be completely manufactured for the show, last season we saw all of them sitting in a mortgage office with credit report results, um, wasn't Robyn's credit run then? I think the best thing that could happen for the show is one, or 2 (Christine and Janelle) LEAVE the Kodperv, then viewers would have something to stand up and root for!
ReplyDeleteIt's lookin' real, dude. I'm worried about the Browns.
ReplyDeleteGet a grip, Browns! Such drama!
ReplyDeleteAnd how does a mother of three children with terrible debt have a fourth child without dealing with the debt? So irresponsible! Oh that's right, Janelle will take care of it!
Oy!
sorry, i can't see, let alone access any video. is it because i'm not in the states or is anybody else having that trouble?
ReplyDeletei also tried googling any videos tagged 'sister wives' going up in the past 24 hrs and nada.
what's going on?
this is really annoying me now, i want to see those bally previews! sorry, having a bit of a tantrum, i'll go to time out.
So sorry b0red_n0w, but the video is an exclusive on eonline.com and doesn't allow embedding. I've already checked and it's not available on the TLC site.
DeleteI was able to watch the video. Is anyone else having a problem?
I watched from Australia, so no problems here.
DeleteThe video doesn't show up in the mobile version of the site- that might be the problem.
Deleteok, i worked it out. eonline doesn't make it easy to change country version and the french edition is about as cooperative as a parisian bureaucrat.
Deleteanyway, all sorted now.
Glad you were able to get it to work!
DeleteI don't believe for one second that it is Robyn's double digit debt that makes them unable to qualify. It is the fact that each one of them (except Robyn) has a documented bankruptcy, they don't have jobs, no steady income... So it is highly unlikely that it was really Robyn's fault.
ReplyDeleteYep, right there with you...Meri/Kody credit and Christine credit sooo bad, how can this be just a Robchin problem. I mean I'm no fan of Robchin but this seems unfair. They all have to have severely low credit scores.
DeleteMaybe since viewers seem to like Robchin the least, it's just an easy plot line to blame the "home wrecker" and continue the villian character.
Believe me I find Robchin to just be VAPID!
I agree! Meri is the only one that is legally married to the Koyote
Deleteso that would NOT have anything to do with the others rejections. Only those that have declared bankruptcy. I would love to see the Koyote's credit report.
Wow, so much to pick from. First, Mariah, you selfish selfish girl. You obviously have no idea what is involved, emotionally, physically and mentally when a woman has to undergo such treatments. If your mother doesn't want to do it then leave her alone!
ReplyDeleteMadison, you rock! I think you and Hunter are my favourite two children in the show because you say it how it is. you see how badly your dad treats your mum and you don't like it and have no intentions of putting yourself in the same position! dont let your dad bully you into changing your mind. When it is time for you to go to college or work, I have one thing to say RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THIS SITUATION!
Robyn, dont let them blame you for not being able to get a house or three houses. Legally you owe this man and his other baby mamma's nothing. If kody wants a house maybe he should get a real job like a real man.
Not looking forward to the new season because this whole mess makes me so angry. I really hate loser parents - male or female.
Sure is a religion full of guilt trips - NO THANKS!
DeleteI think Robin differientates Sol from HER children so that she can emphasize the fact the Sol is Kody's biological child. Not a bright or considerate way to do it that way, but that would be my guess. Maybe HER three children have figured out Kody is not such a great step-father to have, and are no longer calling him Dad.
ReplyDeleteok, i just watched it, and am struggling to express my sentiments without resorting to profanities........ nope, i've got nothing that's suitable for mixed company.
ReplyDeletehang on, i do have something kind to say: madison rocks! she's sixteen and the sanest person featured in the video (yes, i include mona in that, because the idea of them qualifying for loans is nothing a sane person would really entertain).
nevertheless, i am sure i will watch for another season.
I've always said the only responsible adults in the family are Logan and Madison.
DeleteJanelle may raise in Kody's words, "Some mighty fine sons" but that Madison is the cream of the crop.
They are scraping the bottom of the barrel for storylines at this point! I guess we are supposed to believe that Robin's debt never surfaced when they rented her Utah and Las Vegas dwellings? Janelle never scoped out this problem before they put money on the McMansions? They never read about it while lurking on SWB?
ReplyDeleteI bet even their loyal fans are growing tired of this superficial fake stuff-
Well, sure looks like season Four is to be a buffet of essentially reheated leftovers for plot lines.
ReplyDeleteDragging out the loaner uterus story again.....
And really, if they are in such dire straits, how, pray tell, do they bring yet another mouth to feed into the mix? Sorry, didn't and still don't believe this plot was ever real. It was designed to be a cliffhanger that definitely got mileage and ratings.
But to drag it out again...just tiresome, like week-old bread.
It will never go anywhere.
The KODusac houses...
This one is like last night's dinner.....still eatable but losing its flavor.
We are expected to believe that when each mistress plunked down her 5,000 check (minus of course, freeloader Kody's) they had not crunched their own numbers...
as in, do we bring in enough $$ per individual to even pay monthly expenses if we even get approved for mortgages?
And were they *really surprised* at their credit scores??
Huh?....None of them thought to run a free credit check on themselves?
Or are these folks really that stupid?
OR...is it all just a dragged-out, TLC-created tearjerker, recycled for yet another season??
The Wives discontented....
Oh, that again. Gee, nothing new here on that. Leftovers again !!
Especially since *the book* spilled the beans on all that big time.
Kids threatening to defect.....
Again, recycled stuff . Maddie has made that statement before.
Hunter has previously expressed his disdain for the whole scene.
Where is the wow on any of this ??
Robin whining and sniveling.....
Looking worried and contrite...about *something* or another.
Yawn !! Even having the T-shirt on that one feels old and ratty.
But one thing is for sure, SWB will have LOTS to CHEW ON....
however reheated and stale it will be !!
But one thing is for sure, SWB will have LOTS to CHEW ON....
Deletehowever reheated and stale it will be !!
You better believe it!
Maddie is my favorite, but I can't help but wonder if she's just trying to get Kody's attention...like when she dyed her hair black. I think the producers may be taking advantage of the situation.
And Robyn...well, I can't wait for her tweet how she's so thankful that Kody is her husband. They try to make it look like its all Robyn's fault, but get real...NONE of those people could qualify for the McMansions without some mega heavy duty financial help. Kody has already declared Robyn his Queen of Spades (if not Hearts) so this is all for drama only.
Poor Mariah. She just confirms that the apple really doesn't fall from the tree...
I can't wait!
tell me this is a joke. How selfish of Mariah to tell her Mother that. That has to be all for the show - it can't be real. They all tweet like they are the happiest people on earth but on the show they have such terrible issues. Fake, fake, and more fake. Something tell me this season will be a real snooze fest.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the tweets are fake and the show is real. The Browns don't have control how they are viewed on the show, but they do have control of how they tweet.
DeleteIt seems to me a lot of the coming attractions are actually from last seasons shows.
ReplyDeleteAppears that way 5th wife. I would love to see the Browns embrace a minimalist lifestyle, move back to UT, show the wives gardening, preserving, working through the debt & showing support & structure of how their family works! I've had my fill of Kody - send him off to work in the morning and focus on the sister wives - the premise of the show. I don't want to see more trips and baby drama...maybe that's as deep as they get though??!
DeleteI agree. Personally, deciding to make responsible decisions would be better for the family, the show, and I bet their ratings. My favorite episode was when the family was going down the hill with the ice blocks. It didn't involve theme parks, lots of $, or extreme drama. Family fun is what is needed. The question is, is there any normal family fun?
DeleteHi, I'm new here.
ReplyDeleteI just can't understand why all these women have to have their own house? The economical way would be to put Meri with the sisterwives who needs most help with the children, and save some money on rent or houseloan? Other plygfamilies live in one house, one kitchen. Why does Meri need the biggest house with pool by herself and her grown daughter.
I do not understand this family at all...
Thank you for a wonderful blog!
Thank you for participating, Cecilia Sweden! And Welcome!!
DeleteCecilia, that really bothers me too! There are children who are literally starving or lacking in clothes and other necessities yes they NEED these houses. And Meri NEEDS her own house. It's really selfish and sickening to watch. It's almost like they play this sympathy card so that fans will send in money or TLC will surprise them with homes. It's disgusting.
DeleteWhat really bothers me about Meri is not so much she wants her own space (none of them want to live together) but the fact that she demands a huge house for herself and Mariah who will be leaving in a year or so. I mean get real honey, you don't NEED six bedrooms. Why take from the rest of the family because you feel "punished" for not having more kids. I think it is irrational. How can she honestly take what she doesn't need even if it hurts everyone else? It's selfish.
DeleteTheir problems, along w/stress, frustration and depression, all increased a thousandfold w/the addition of Robyn and the show rolled into one. Be careful what you wish for, folks. It just might not be all that.
ReplyDeleteyeah, Mariah's tearjerker guilt-trip along w/Meri getting sucked into it made me want to hurl. Since when did a teenager need to be a demanding part of her parent's intimately private baby-making decision? Oh yeah, when the parents decided to sell out their personal life (and kids) on a "reality" show. lol
Remember Kody admitted that he convinced Christine (and his) daughter to talk Christine into another pregnancy previous to the birth of Truely.
Delete... And then Robyn was sooo anxious that Hunter express affection for Sol immediately following his birth. No adult family member spoke on behalf of allowing Hunter the privacy of his feelings-- or the freedom of sorting out his own thoughts at his own pace.
When these adults speak of the supposed religious freedom the children enjoy, it seems strange since they're included in other decisions (inculding Kody's dating life-- troubling imho). Decisions in this family seem to be a matter of Kody "selling" his scheme.
The correct response is enthusiastic affirmation.
I am at the point now where I do not think the Browns' can even afford manufactured homes out in the desert. There is upkeep on four homes and I have never seen Kody prove himself handy except maybe in the bedroom and, I have my doubts about that. How can they afford to keep the house in Lehi? Maybe they should all move back there and learn to get along or get out of this crazy relationship.
ReplyDeleteAlso, last year I think I remember something about Mexico and them going there to declare bankruptcy. Do they have any relatives in Mexico? There is a large population of FLDS there. Does anyone else remember this?
Oh, TLC. How far you have fallen. The entire innernets world knew about Robyn's debt for ages. How can this be surprising news to the Browns? (Although it will be funny if they specifically mention the Victoria's Secret debt. For some reason I can see Christine reacting as if VS=the devil)
ReplyDeleteI think for the season premiere I might just make my very own "Run Janelle Run" t-shirt. I'm really rooting for her.
Meri basically grew into adulthood, or a semblance of, with Kody. She won't be able to function without him. She'll never leave him, or let him leave her.
Christine was raised in this environment. Leaving would equate failure for her, so she'll just keep eating her feelings and crying and feeling 'less than'. My heart hurts for her, but the feminist in me wants to push her into taking a stand and showing her daughters, and sons, that she values herself. Lead by example, Christine!
Robin left one husband and I think someday she'll leave this one too when the shiny wears off. I really do think that she thinks she loves Kody and the lifestyle, but she needs to be a single wife. I think she's insecure.
Assuming Mariah is as devout as she says, she may genuinely feel that her mother is not living up to the principle by not taking up Robyn's offer. Meri acts all religious, but what if her daughter really does believe what her mother has taught her? How uncomfortable that must be! :)
ReplyDeleteShe's just showing her immaturity. It must be tough growing up in that family and seeing your mother being treated as a second class citizen because she only plopped out 1 kid. I laugh when she says she wants to be a doctor but she can't quite understand why her mother doesn't want to go through ivf. She didn't inherit the empathy gene at all. She's got all of Kody's bad traits.
DeleteMeri treated as a second class citizen? Who has gotten most of the trips to Mexico etc we have seen? Despite the presence of Robyn, it is CRYSTAL CLEAR that if Kody had to decide to only have ONE spouse or whatever you call them, he would choose Meri in a NY minute....not because they are already legally married but because it is evident that Meri is the one he is closest to. IMO. even if she never had ONE kid, it would be that way.
DeleteI would say Mariah should know better than to put her mom thru that emotional stress, but I don't think she does. Her desire to be a sisterwife herself speaks volumes, since that is a culture or what have you that make most of a woman's worth based on the amount of progeny she produces...of course she wants her mom to squeeze out more puppies. and she's not an only child - she has all those brothers and sisters right? and more than they have - she has privacy. If Logan is living on campus he must be having the time of his life being on his own!
I watched the clip and agree with everyone who thinks this is just pandering to what they think the viewers want.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to stop analyzing these people and their situation because it's a waste of time. But I can't stop. So here's my question for the day....if you were going to talk to someone about credit counseling, would you take Kody? If they really wanted to solve the problem, they would have Janielle be the expert.
Having Kody in a conversation about finances is like having my golden retriever trying to negotiate world peace. At least my golden retriever has good intentions.
I need to stop thinking about these people. It's a waste of time.
There's something I've been wondering about. Why didn't Kody just buy 4 homes himself? Why does each wife need to have a mortgage in her name? Seems to me, if his 4 mortgages (or one if possible) were approved he could then 'rent' the houses to each wife. If I were a F'listed reality show celebrity that's what I'd do!
DeleteOh my, all I can think about is Kody as a golden retriever, except golden retrievers are more intelligent and loyal!
DeleteCJ that was too funny... Just love this stuff!!
DeleteRobyn's credit score is not the reason they cant get their dream homes on the gated cul-de-sac. There is documented proof that all of the wives at one point have filed bankruptcy. None of them have a job history. Anyhoo..I cannot believe they are STILL talking about the surrogacy offer...Meri is NOT interested and she never will be. She is getting old-ish to even consider it and they certainly don't have the money. I have to think putting Mariah on the couch and saying that about praying every single nigh for a sibling is just ridiculous. It had to be a fake moment suggested by the producers. If you look at the clip, Meri just kind of gives her a look like "good performance', not the kind of look an anguished mother would give. And when Meri says her pitiful line about the stress, Kody just let out a huge sigh. Come on TLC....we all know the surrogacy is all manufactured drama, it is never happening. Janelle's line about leaving is probably a retread of when she left years ago. Christine's talk with Kody was from the last Christmas Mansion celebration, this is nothing new. The thing I am most interested in right now are Robyn's tweets. She has a job and needs a babysitter? For Sol and those other 3 kids? Interesting. I hope for her sake and her kids sake, she really does have a job and really is trying to take care of her family. Cause we all know Kody isn't going to.
ReplyDeleteThis is a typical Robyn's day:
Delete8:00AM - Wakes up and kisses Kody on the cheek. If Kody isn't there, calls him and kisses him thru the phone.
8:30AM - Goes downstairs. Tells Taralyce to fix her something to eat. Tells Taralyce Sol's diaper needs changing. Tells Taralyce the next time she wakes the older kids for school to do it quietly so as not to disturb her while she's in bed with Kody.
9:00AM - Gets ready for work...
12:00PM - Tells Taralyce she's off to the office. Goes upstairs to her office and shuts the door. Checks her calendar. Takes a short nap.
1:00PM - Calls Taralyce on her cell and tells her she's ready for lunch. When Taralyce brings up her food, tells Taralyce never to allow Sol to cry because it breaks her concentration. Checks twitter.
2:00PM - Surfs the internet for ideas, any ideas. Sneaks a peek at SWB. Scribbles line drawings of her newest idea: Sister Wife Easter eggs on the 4th page of her idea notebook. Figures to start advertising them in January and have them available for sale online by June. Retail price: $250.00 for one egg. Chuckles to herself what a great profit margin that will be and imagines the smile on Kody's face when she tells him.
3:00PM - Work done, goes downstairs to tell Taralyce what to cook for dinner. Kisses Sol on the head, goes to Kody's MLM car and drives to her nail/hair appointment.
5:30PM - Makes sure kids eat dinner. Tells kids to go upstairs and do homework. If it's Kody's night, starts planning her honeymoon experience and makes sure Taralyce is cooking Kody's favorite food.
6:00PM - Eats dinner with Kody. If Kody is out of town or with another wife, skips dinner and tweets to fans how lonely she is or how much she loves Kody. If Kody's at Meri's, packs up Sol and the other kids and drops in on Meri. Cuddles up with Kody while Meri contends with the bonus kids. When Meri starts giving her the evil eye, gets the hint and persuades Kody to drive her and the kids to their home. Secretly flips off Meri as she gets in the car. Gives Kody a big sloppy kiss.
9:00PM - Says goodnight to the kids and Sol. Tells Taralyce her duties for the next day. Dismisses Taralyce for the night.
9:15PM - Plays up the honeymoon experience by putting on a Victoria's Secret negligee so Kody can appreciate her lack of curves.
9:20PM - Retires to the bedroom. Does the wild thing with Kody, then reluctantly sends him off to another wife if it isn't her night.
11:00PM - Finally drops off to sleep.
Poor Taralyce must be working for free or almost free. Robyn obviously doesn't need someone full time but if she did she certainly couldn't afford the $300+ a week for a nanny. But her daughters are in school full time by now so surely they could spend afterschool at another moms house with older siblings. So basically Taralyce is just there for Sol all day. My sister wife and I work together, about part time each so one of us can be home with the kids. But if we have an event that requires both of us to be present than we have a sitter over until our husband comes home. But it seems like having Taralyce is more than just an ocasional thing. What happened to Christine being the stay at home mom with the little kids? If I were Christine I wouldn't want to take Sol all day either...
DeleteCJ, Love it !!!
DeleteAnd most likely pretty much on point !!!
Because considering how much buzz has been here on SWB about how none of the mares work, (nor does the stallion) I am sure if she, or any of them, actually landed a "real" JOB, they would want to make that known. Unless of course, they would rather not have the IRS or Welfare Dept. know that.
Instead, Robin throws out a veiled innuendo via Tweet and hopes it take root that she is "working" and needs hugs and strokes.
Sorry, Robin....you'll have to be more specific.!!!
This one has "Brown BS" all over it.
I remember Robyn bragging about how great sisterwives are, to take care of the kids being one of the perks. Interesting to see that she had to take her sister in to do that. After getting to know her and her ways after she got pregnant all of her sister wives probably thought: Bazinga, I don't care. If I were one of them, I wouldn't want to wake up for Sol either.
DeleteIt could also be that Kody is interested in marrying her little sister? That would make Robyn happy (having a "friend" around) and less threat jealous-wise. Kody would have a new sex squeesh and it would be good for the ratings.
Hey Lobotomized,
DeleteYou may be onto something about the little sister being groomed for sista-hood. Kody does like them young, and it would save time and money if all he had to do for the "courting" was roll up Robin's driveway.
Amused and Lobotomized, you can count me in,too. Robyn's little sister has been with her before Sol was born. I remember Robyn tweeting about hiring her to clean the house supposedly for the summer. I thought it was strange because she could have asked one or two of her bonus children to help her out.
DeleteJoe Darger married a sister, so why not Kody? Not to mention it would mean Robyn would have absolute control over Kody and effectively shut out the original three wives.
CPA Carol - Your comments are always right on! Agree with everything you said.
DeleteCJ - I'm a person who rarely laughs out loud. It takes something really funny to get me to do that, and I tell you -- I was rolling based on Robyn's schedule. That was hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember the unlv panel was after all these shows were shot. These people are all clowns in the krody circus.
ReplyDeleteOn the off-chance that this is real, then Meri is just reaping what she sowed with Mariah. Mariah is just a kid, so she can't be blamed for believing what she was told her whole life - that a woman's entire purpose is to get married, share a husband and pop out babies on command.
ReplyDeleteI doubt Mariah has ever seen the negative side of all this plyg stuff - ironically because her mother hasn't been able to have more children. Poor kid doesn't know the only reason she thinks polygamy is a good idea is because she has always lived in a separate part of a house with her mom, who is the first wife and - don't forget - for the first 15 or so years of her life, she was the only legally recognized child. So Mariah has always been a princess, the one covered by insurance, the precious only child from the first wife, not sharing a bedroom with three other siblings, not competing in the same way for dad's attention when it is her mom's turn to have him for the night.
Come to think of it, in all the previous seasons, Mariah is the only child to have one on one air time with dad - in the scene when she talked about wanting to be a navy doctor. Every other kid has been addressed in combination with other kids.
Kody seems to have no guilt at all for what he puts his kids through by continually and compulsively increasing their number, and Mariah is too young to see how much better she has it than everyone else.
I suspect Robin's "job" is more about undisturbed time on the keyboard and sketch book for the "Closet."
ReplyDeleteKing SOL's toddler needs could require a babysittter during those times.
Oh, forgot....during Robin's "tweet time" too.
What do you think.....maybe four/five hours a week ??
Mariah, Mariah, Mariah... dramma queen to say the least.
ReplyDelete"I pray every single time that she is able to have another baby." Are her other siblings not real siblings? Does she pray for that because of the competence for attention? or so Meri wouln't be jealous of the other wives bearing children?
I understand that she is a teenager but COME ON. There will come a time that she feel so incredibly guilty for these comments, but for now I am constantly amazing at how she manages to have "only child syndrome" yet have so many siblings. The world DOES NOT revolve around you Mariah.
DeleteDisclaimer: I am an only child myself and still recognize that sometimes we can be incredibly selfish.
Mariah is so immature! How many teenagers at that age are so wrapped up in Disney and wanting a baby brother or baby sister? Good grief! The age difference would be so great that it would be doubtful her sibiling and she would be that close. Also, if having a sister wife is so wonderful, why isn't one of Robin's sister wives watching "her children" for her while she "works?"
ReplyDeleteI am not surprised that almost all these clips are from last year's episodes. The Christine and Kody non talk, the IVF and money problems. I thought I also remember Janelle saying the what if she left line, but that could just be my own wishful thinking.
ReplyDeleteIf they do move AGAIN, it will be devastating to the teens, especially Hunter. He was so depressed when they first moved and it seems he is excited to be on the varsity team for playoffs.
Mariah and the couch was so coached. I agree that Meri didn't seem upset while Mariah was talking, but broke down only after she left. Was she trying to stay stoic or was she just not really listening. Also, my teens would be mortified at the thought of me getting pregnant now. Teens usually don't like to think about their parents that way.
All this being said, I will be watching the show, reading and commenting on the blog. It is a good train wreck.
Why would Meri and Kody allow Mariah to be in that interview? Part of their scripting I suppose, but some day that child will grow up and see what a drama queen she was, especially if she ever matures.
DeleteJust saw a tweet from Robin and she works in a salon? The tweet didn't make a lot of sense.
ReplyDeleteLMFAO!!!
DeleteShe's HAVING HER NAILS DONE! So she has to stop "working" and put down her phone while the tech works on her friggin nails!
And that's what she's thankful for??? THAT SHE CAN GET HER NAILS DONE??? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT WOMAN???
You ask what's wrong with that woman? where do you start? Possibly not overly educated, in an abusive relationship (if not physical emotional abuse) has massive debt and has multiple children to support with little income. What is right with Robyn? I too would go and have my nails done if it meant retreating from such circumstances if only for a little while.
Deletesomeone on twitter (helpfully named 'robin') just asked robyn where she works.
Deleteanswer from robyn: "I work at http://mysisterwifescloset.com . I am busy developing new products & marketing strategies with my sisterwives & managing finances."
well, if you call that work... i'm afraid 'robin' is utterly devoid of irony when replying: 'That's full time!!! Enjoy your quiet time. Thanks for answering. Have a great night'
she'd do better working in the salon than pretending to 'manage finances' of anything. the woman's not fit to run a lemonade stall and i'm not disparaging enterprising youngsters when i say that. at the age of six, i about tripled my allowance by selling cheaply made seasonal decorations - my mum poured the plaster into molds, i painted them or sold them unpainted - to other kids. i'm not even kidding, i had more business sense than these idiots in primary school and i don't consider myself that business-savvy.
how about this: instead of getting your nails done, take in a business class at a community college!
It's so strange that with her mounds of debt she is still able to get a $30 manicure. I have ZERO debt, (except for my mortgage - that I pay on time every month) Why do I have zero debt? Because I don't spend my money on stupid things like getting my nails done when I can easily do them myself! These people make no sense.
DeleteRachael, had the same thought....burns my ass that we see her meeting with a debt counselor, and hear the whining about her prior marriage money problems hurting the Browns...but she can justify spending money on fake nails, maybe it helps her fake her happiness. I'm sure she deserves it.
DeleteIt is quite obvious to me that neither Robyn nor any of the rest of them know the definition of the word "work". It is absolutely pathetic to see 5 able bodied adults unable to hold down steady jobs and provide consistently for their brood.
DeleteI think the Brown's need to take a lesson from the Duggar's. The Duggar's are just 2 adults who've been able to successfully raise and provide for a larger group than the Brown's. They teach by example the value and importance of hard work as well as charitable service. They also live modestly and within their means. The numerous bankruptcy's prove the Brown's have no idea what living within their means entails.
After reading the the Brown's book and everything posted on this site it is quite obvious that, other than Janelle, they are all more interested in easy money and having a good time than they are an honest day's hard work. Their sense of entitlement to high end homes purely due to their number of family members is ridiculous! Hard work and saving money gets you a nice home, not procreation.
I would LOVE to have the opportunity to teach the Brown's what hard work really is. I have the big house they all want...and I earned it. My husband and I are up every morning at 5 am with the chickens (literally) tending to our small farm. We both then commute to our secular jobs and work 9 hour days. We return home to again tend to our farm, cook, clean and do laundry. We love our life, and we have worked very hard to achieve it. We did not feel entitled to it simply because we live and breath. Why Robyn needs her sister's assistance while she sketches pretty little pictures of tacky jewelry is beyond me.
That's my rant. I have no patience for the lazy. Yet I'm addicted to this show and this blog. Utter failure is all that is in store for the Brown's as far as I can see.
Kody needs to stop reproducing- in vitro or otherwise! Mariah should think twice about wanting a sibling because they'll probably use up the Disney vacation fund to pay for in vitro.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone ever needed a vasectomy it's krazy Kodouche. I'll barf if I have to witness another televised Brown birth.
Heh, witnessing Kody get a vasectomy would be a GREAT episode! Why not? We have witnessed 2 of his wives giving birth. A medicated vasectomy a piece of cake in comparison.
DeleteBring it on! Kody get's clipped!
Mariah is a piece of work and has the mentality of a 6 year old. She will out of the nest and married to her own Plyg Pig in no time. Why on earth would she care if her mom has another baby? Why not think about the one she will no doubt be popping out in a year or two? Grow up Mariah.
ReplyDeleteAnd please understand I expect this of Mariah because of her deeply held beliefs of being Plyg (gah). Go for it Mariah, just see how happy the life style is for you. Your Mom so 'obviously' fulfilled by it all. (NOT!)
DeleteNOT what I would wish that for any young woman and NOT the direction my 3 kids are headed (can we all say and spell EDUCATION!?)
How many orders do you think My Sister Wives Closet gets per week? It is probably averaging MAYBE 1 order per week. The stuff is over priced and looks like a kid made it.
ReplyDeleteWith all this "hard work" Robyn is doing you think that she would have the ornament on their website, but there is no sign of it.
T-shirts have got to be one of the easiest things to design and get produced. I designed and had many printed for my sorority in college. It doesn't take a lot of effort or time and there would be good profit there.
Really, why is she bragging about all the "hard work" that she does when there is nothing to show for it. We all can see that Robyn and My Sister Wives Closet is a utter failure. I'd respect her more if she had a part time job working at Starbucks.
So...just as suspected, Robin is posing as "working" while she is trying to color inside the lines of her sketchbook.....and googling "how to do this or that...".
ReplyDeleteAnd of course.....getting Me/Me time away from her kids.
Oh, the stress of the working girl...!!!
Robin says: "I am busy developing new products & marketing strategies with my sisterwives & managing finances."
"New Products"?.....you may want to try to unload the ones you already have.
*Hint*...the stuff is plain, to being ugly. The material used looks like machinists scrap metal.
"Marketing Strategies....*Hint*... you may want to look up the meaning in a dictionary before you attempt to tackle that piece, since so far, it seems you (all of you) do not have a clue.
"Managing Finances"...Uh, Oh....has Janelle been demoted??????
Robin, are you now the accountant/ comptroller of the whole Circus?
Did Kody succumb to your charms (and extensive array of VS lingerie) and reward you with such an important position? Are your sisters relieved that you now are "managing" the finances of KodyWorld?
Gee, sure sounds like a perfect fit to me !!! *blink, blink*
But...a question....
What happened to one for all, and all for one, when it comes to caring for ALL the children.
Never thought you would have to bring in outside help for babysitting !!
Is there trouble in SW wivey paradise that none of your sistas are "free" or willing to help you out...especially since YOU are doing all the managing of everything??
In the Season Premiere commercial November 18 where it says "things may fall apart" and family divided what song plays in the background?
ReplyDeleteIt's a song called "so cold" by Ben Cocks. - Yes that is his name. It's a great song.
DeleteIronically, that song sounds like something the woman are probably thinking/feeling every night living in polygamy.
DeleteHow sadly "dramatic" Robyn appears on video crying how she never wanted her divorce/bad credit history to affect the Brown family, but she sure doesn't mind spending $$ on getting her nails done all the time or other unnecessary personal expenses...smh Seriously Robyn, STFU already!!
ReplyDeleteOh & the IDGAF sour puss face that Kody is displaying in the photo above, is EXACTLY how I feel when I see their constant BS & whining about finances, but yet obviously living way above their means!!
Speaking of Hurricane Sandy, a twitter fan had reached out to one of them(I think Janelle, but not 100% sure), stating that SW has a lot of East coast fans so she(twitter fan) was surprised & almost shocked that NONE OF the Browns had even reached out to offer any type of condolensces,etc... to the victims of Hurricane Sandy...Hmmmmm??? I also find that interesting as well!
I think you are being a little hard on her for tweeting about alone time getting her nails done. Everyone appreciates different things, whats the problem? No one is getting hurt. She isn't the brightest bulb, but these comments can go a little too far at times. I like the witty side of this blog, not the ultra-critical, bullying side. I'm sure you won't publish my comment but I just wanted to share how I felt when I read the update.
ReplyDeleteHey Anony 12:45!
DeleteI like the witty side of this blog, not the ultra-critical, bullying side. I'm sure you won't publish my comment but I just wanted to share how I felt when I read the update.
Actually, I appreciate that you presented your opinion without needing to bash another poster to get your point across.
HOWEVER, Robyn (as a public figure through a reality show) did not do herself or Sister Wives any favors when she tweeted about why she was thankful on the day before Veterans Day and less than a month since the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. People are out of work. People are without homes. People are trying to stay warm in NYC and surrounding areas. But Robyn's thankful for being able 'to take a break' from her non-job and get her nails done.
It was a shallow statement on her part...and she needed to be called out for it.
Anon 12:45,
DeleteCynical Jinx certainly needs no backup from any SWB blogger.
However, I feel compelled to "second" her statement..."People are out of work. People are without homes. People are trying to stay warm in NYC and surrounding areas."
I am on the East Coast and thankfully, VERY thankfully, sustained tolerable damage and inconvenience compared to the absolute *Nightmare* of those poor souls on the barrier islands and counties of NYC. And many of them are STILL without food, lights or heat.
Robin IS *by choice* a public reality star. She happily signed on for her notoriety. She also happily accepted and frankly, solicited with her "woe is me" bits, "gifts" from well-meaning and considerate fans for her, and for her baby-to- be. Who knows how many of those fans did without to send her baby gifts? And they have targeted their fans to buy their Closet crap.
But the point is....
For not one of the Browns during their busy tweeting to not even reference the ravages of Sandy and display a modicum of concern for any of their devoted SW fans who may have been affected by this crisis...
Well, this is SO telling about these people.
And surely, about Robin.
Who cares that she is getting her nails done.....
Seriously, **** Who the hell cares !!!! *****
But apparently she wants to keep playing her "poor me"....."I need space and pampering" !!!
Feeling entitled much there, Robin ??!!! Obviously so !!
What was that tweet for...hoping for a fan to send gift cards for free manicures ???
And.... if she is just this dumb, or this self-centered, this clueless to not tailor her tweets....
Then she brings it on herself.
It's just a matter of these people not caring or worrying about anyone but themselves. Have you ever seen an episode where they serve other people? An episode where they volunteer somewhere? They've never donated money to any organization? (don't try to say that they donate humbly and quietly because you know that they would put that on display) It's always all about the browns and their needs and their houses and their vacations and their nail appointments and they all work sooooooo hard. But they deserve this all right? Cause they've done nothing but take and take. It's just very discouraging seeing people so consumed with their own selves and needs that they forget about the 15,000 homeless people in our city who have children that are starving and not getting their very BASIC needs met. I volunteer with 2 non profits in this city and I work as a social worker for medicaid and I see sadness everyday in Las Vegas. The Browns don't care. They just want their houses and that's what bothers me. They feel so entitled and are convinced that they deserve these things. They don't, they need to wake up!
DeleteWow, well said!
DeleteRachael, you have summed up my thoughts on the Browns perfectly. I can not get over how SELFISH they are!!! They think that getting to heaven means having lots of babies they can't afford, RIDICULOUS!! They are a drain on society and I can't stand that they have fans. Can some one please twitter these people asking them why they feel so entitled to have the state pay for their children, I wonder what their response would be.
DeleteI don't know if it is unique to the Browns or AUB, but the main stream LDS friends I grew up with always did service and volunteer work and not just for their church. We did walk-a-thons, food drives for food banks not affliated with a church and many weekend projects at our community action agency during the 70's and 80's.
DeleteThey were the first to volunteer with any need of our peers.
I'm really not trying to BASH the Browns but are they even aware of a world outside of their own tiny existence?
I didn't grow up in Utah but I do remember when the LDS built a HUGE church in our town. Yup we did have a lot of bike-riding door-to-door tie-wearing "Missionaries" show up...BUT also - they started participating ACTIVELY in fund raising events/charity drives etc in our area to help people whether they were LDS members or not. including large donations/food drives to our local food banks and so on.
DeleteI guess you COULD count the $20-$30 fee that Meri probably had to pay to be in that 5k a "charitable contribution". whup whup...
Well considering TLC made up Breaking Amish I wouldn't be suprised if it was all scripted.
ReplyDeleteWow. Just watched the preview sneak peak. I recognized a lot of the scenes from last season. Including the one with Janelle in the kitchen/dining room saying she was done. That I believe was when Hunter told Kody off about football. But the scene on the couch was recent, and I don't take Janelle as the one who dramatizes situations from the past. You could tell it was recent by her weight loss (Go Janelle!!) and she seemed very legit. I believe Janelle is getting strength and will ultimately leave. She now has two children who are done with this train wreck. Logan is in hiding and Madison keeps getting called out for her oppsies on twitter for saying she is done with the religion. Janelle is working on it.
ReplyDeleteMeri/Mariah. Gag. I understand a lot of this is BS, BUT, they must believe it because they are saying/acting it for TV. So that is who they are, and that is very sad. No changing either one of them. They are there for the drama.
Christine, ALL those scenes where from last season! We get it. Something is seriously wrong when they sum of a character(sister wife living her life) of a woman by reverting back to her pain over and over again. No happy scenes to bring up for the viewers from last season, only pain. Christine, seriously! For your sake please spend some more time around Janelle just being normal. Do NOT spend quality time asking for advice from Robyn and Meri. I realize that's how it works on the compound, go to 1st Wife, but not in the real world. Just please take time out and talk to Janelle about finances, stability, something.
Robyn, ugh. Still the same. That scene of her with Kody at NV credit repair was definitely recent from a couple weeks ago. She JUST added them on twitter two weeks ago. Again, TLC is rehashing from last season. All well and good; it has been awhile and without this blog a typical viewer would be totally lost. But, I've said it before and I'll say it again: Robyn needs to shut up and stop blaming her ex for her credit.
If Robyn would have woken up from fairy tale land after her divorce when she was living her mom in 2007, or when she began dating Kody in 2008ish, or when she was moved into the rental for SIX MONTHS near Kody with no JOB, or when they moved to Vegas, or during her pregnancy,or sometime in the past 4-5 years....there you go. Goes to show she wanted to jump into a new marriage with no thoughts to the future, and she was in her thirties with three children. I know for a fact after 4-5 years a collection doesn't hurt your credit as much. After seven years, they are to stop reporting it. If her credit is that much of a mess, there HAS to be something very recent on it to keep pulling up. She was awarded the debt by the judge as something she was to own up to. That was in 2007. Five years ago. There has to be something recent on her report to hold down her scores in that way. Plus to put absolutely no effort on cleaning it in that time. Even 6 months of work on cleaning your report will at least get you in the yellow. Shows effort. I joined myfico and signed up for their score watch program. I participated in the forums and learned a LOT. Only cost like $15 a month. Someone I know had a BK 4 years ago and now have a 700+ credit score. Unbelievable. After I heard that, I was like, WTH Robyn. Seriously, that went through my head. lol.
Must be nice to get your nails done. I'd get mine done but I work full time at a real job and attend school full time at a real school. Plus have my own household to run with no maids to clean, or prepare meals, or pull something out of the freezer to defrost in time, or do my laundry when it piles up. Plus a husband to also attend to. So I'm a little shy on time. Good thing I type fast, otherwise I wouldn't be able to participate on the SWB, since that takes time. lol On a flip side, I have begun watching Big Love again at nights while doing homework. I own all the seasons on amazon and its crazy! This season will be very very interesting.
I do get my nails done every other week, but not because I'm high maintenance, because I work two jobs where i need to look good, neat, and professional. and also, I actually make a good income so I can AFFORD to sink $25 into my nails every couple weeks. whereas Robyn apparently needs her nails to look nice so she can tweet on her phone all day. and OH of course, for the few weeks or how long it takes for them to film their show.
DeleteToday I am thankful for quiet moments at the salon with my nail tech when my hands are busy so I have to put my phone away and stop working.
I'm sorry I just had to paste that AGAIN. her nail tech mostly likely is from a different country and gossips about Ms. Robyn to her fellow nail techs as she's working away on her nails. LOL.
Even if their credit is better, what about their income? I've never applied for a home loan in my LIFE, but won't the banks be looking at their income to ensure they are actually able to pay for any loan the Brown clan applies for??
Delete1) Maybe Robyn IS "working soo hard. However, she is soo imcompetent that nothing is really getting done.
ReplyDelete2)If it's true that that they are moving back into trialers in real life, than, Robyn must be soo pissed. I think a big draw for her was the money and Kody must have sold her all sorts of dreams She may very well leave the family once any and all money/luxury is gone.
3)I soo hope the kids do a tell-all one day.
SOOOO yesterday was my 50th birthday and i have to say I wasn't expecting a present from the Browns since they don't even KNOW me, but how delightful was that Robyn tweet?? let's see it again. this is golden:
ReplyDelete"Today I am thankful for quiet moments at the salon with my nail tech when my hands are busy so I have to put my phone away and stop working."
...SO I HAVE TO PUT MY PHONE AWAY AND STOP WORKING..." let's think about that.
so basically, her "JOB" consists of tweeting and texting??? um please. um. i want a job like that. "get paid to tweet!"
*in my mental jukebox, the song "Workin' in a Coal Mine" just started playing...*
And now I remember WHERE i have seen the Sister Wives Limited Edition Not Yet Released Doubtlessly Overpriced Ornament before. it's almost a dead ringer (except for the year and it said "merry christmas" instead of the currently more popular HH) for one that I got as a freebie from either The Swiss Colony or Figi's back in oh around 1990 or so. I SWEAR TO GOD. it was one of those "buy $50 worth of cheese and sausages and get this designer ornament for your Christmas tree!" gift with purchase. LOL! too funny I knew I'd seen it somewhere :)
Happy B'day DJ!
DeleteNow I can't get 'Workin' in a Coal Mine' out of my head...including the little dance I use to do while singing it in grade school.
Maybe she is working on their website?
DeleteIf she is she needs to be fired and a professional brought in.
DeleteDamn I wanna see the CJ Dance! is it like the Humpty Dance?? LOL
Delete... Happy belated birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks ScotsGirl! It was freakin' awesome btw. :) and i just made a nail appt for tomorrow. lol
DeleteDakota Justice...Happy belated Birthday to one of my favorite posters and the horse you rode in on too!
DeleteAWWW! thanks hon! funny because my SWB/TWOP name is actually the name of the horse I used to lease! I've never even been to the Dakotas. :)
DeleteSo Christine 'feels' like a single mom and is tired of it? Duh Christine, wake up girl. You ARE a single mom!
ReplyDeleteIt really bothers me when it shows Kody walking out and shutting the door while Robyn is left behind at the bank. It's like he is angry that she destroyed her credit by herself and he's pissed that he didn't do it for her like he did with all of his other wives. He didn't get any of the goods out of it and he's mad. It bothers me so much how these people feel so entitled to things, Like "I DESERVE THIS!!!" No you don't. You need to get real jobs. Also, set some realistic goals.
ReplyDeleteI had to respond to Robyn's tweet about her sister babysitting.. I told her I thought that's what sister Wives are for!? What a ding bat.
Hi Rachel..You've hit the nail on the head a few times in this thread..
DeleteThe "I DESERVE THIS!!!" broken record is right up there in my top ten list of things that bug the crap out of me about this family...You deserve NOTHING that you don't work hard for..Where are the jobs that make them so deserving? Why did Meri think she deserved a large home? She has ONE older child living with her..(That's a subject all of it's own...Why the heck she thinks she needs to live alone and doesn't move into a home with a sisterwife to help them out and why the heck she isn't working FULL TIME)....If they really think they deserve these things then they need to first hound their husband to get a REAL JOB then go out there and get jobs on their own too...OH yes..and you mentioned "realistic goals", Rachel...No kidding huh?....
The constant wiping of the brow, woe is me, I deserve, I need a break/vacation, attitude is growing so old ...so very old...
Mariah's tears were not fake. She was raised in a society where having Children means EVERYTHING. I have personally been to her home Church. Everyone there has obscenely long hair with babies hanging all over them like monkeys. Literally babies EVERYWHERE. The gray haired ladies held babies too. I think the babies were their Sisterwives. But in some cases it seemed like those gray haired ladies were the bio mothers. They don't believe in birth control. They believe GOD's in control. They believe they will become "Gods and Goddesses" in the hereafter. The meaning of being a "God" to them is to procreate forever and ever and ever. They need billions of children to fill up their personal planets. Come on people, get with the program. Don't you wish you could have billions of children for all Eternity? That is Mariah's end goal. Shouldn't it be yours?
ReplyDeleteNah. Newborns have gooey poo, potty training can be quite a challenge, elementary school aged children can be really whiny,, teens are mouthy at some point or another, and then they grow up and can do crazy stuff and you can no longer ground or discipline them, and all in all on average they have cost you 250-300k in the course of 18 years. Who wants that for all of eternity? Thought the goal was celestial bliss... lol
DeleteI'm really just poking fun. Though I really love my kids they do cost money and more than th dedication, sacrifice, and more love and nurture than one can ever imagine. Im pretty sure that isnnot something theyre taught in church.Kids are not trophies that you collect on a mantle and I think it's unfortunate these girls are taught to measure their self worth based on what their reproductive system can or can't produce. Besides, whoever came up withe million baby rule was obviously male and never birthed a child.
It's "cut the muster" not "mustard." Sorry, couldn't help myself! I love this blog and this was another fantastic post. I'm going to share it with my nail tech.
ReplyDeleteEnglish Professor picked up the last piece of chalk and scratched out on the blackboard: It's "cut the muster" not "mustard." Sorry, couldn't help myself! ... I'm going to share it with my nail tech.
DeleteHmmmm...
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/cut+the+mustard
Idiom:
cut the mustard
To perform up to expectations or to a required standard.
Perhaps you were thinking of "pass muster"?
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pass+muster
Idiom:
pass muster
To be judged as acceptable.
Here's hoping your nail tech can cut the mustard and pass muster with her nail job! How about a $25 tip, just to be sure?
PS...A disclaimer: Any mistakes in this comment were intentional ;)
Hahaha, CJ, Disclaimer ;) so funny, as one that gets their jokes corrected I really appreciate your statement above. Thanks to you and your crew for the great blog!
DeleteAh, with more research I see both phrases are actually acceptable. Forgive me for jumping the gun. I'm such a nerd. After reading linguistic theory all day, Sisterwives (show and blog) is what helps me relax!
DeleteOh, I am fairly certain that Kody ‘slamming out the door’ at the bankers office had to be scripted…and this whole “I am the reason we aren’t getting houses (Robyn)” is unbelievable to all of us viewers anyhow. As far as I can recall (based on the book, discussions and the show), Christine has basically never worked except for very part time opportunities, like working for the Census. Meri had worked with the at-risk youth for about a year when she was terminated from that job. We heard various versions about Kody working in sales…for an electronic sign place and also for Schwan’s. Janelle worked for many years at a State job in Utah and also had some pantry business which none of us has really believed was successful or even operational. And ALL of them filed bankruptcy in the past ten years. This is why they can’t get loans….no current ‘real’ jobs and horrific credit history. The book (which I consider the most honest telling of their story because they all ‘wrote’ their own portions – although clearly Kody never read it because he would not have let some of that go to print – the book to me is the most objective). In the book, Janelle talks about how in the early days of their marriage, how annoyed she would get with Kody and Meri just taking off for various trips while not seeming to worry about the consequences (i.e. not getting paid, not making money, spending money they didn’t have). Janelle was the one bringing in the $$ and I think she and Christine just realized it made sense for Christine to watch the kids while Janelle worked and Meri continued to do whatever she wanted (albeit in her own little neat, healthy, super-lover quiet space). Christine then got the governmental benefits of housing aid, food stamps, etc. These are not the type of people (trying to qualify for 4 loans in all!) that banks look upon favorably. None of them has shown the ability and responsibility to have a home and pay their bills. Think of their unmaintained piles-of-junk cars they drove to Utah. This is how they would maintain their Mansions. They are simply not going to get houses, I am surprised they got to rent as long as they did.
ReplyDeleteRobyn ‘working’ at running her own business is pretty silly. We know she does not have the background or skill set to run a business. None of them do, however, Robyn and Christine certainly seem to be the least capable of running a business. And going off on little mini vacations with Kody on LIV gatherings is not working, Meri.
It’s all for the drama, it’s not Robyn’s fault they are qualifying, it’s all of their collective faults. I still want to know why TLC is not promoting the big premiere.
Just checked my tv guide. Sister Wives is on all day before the premiere. And it's on Sunday, the biggest night for cable TV. IF they did not want the show to succeed, then why show a marathon? Why keep it on Sunday night?
DeleteAnon 3:36 AM - It's always been TLC's "tradition" to show a "marathon" of past eps before ANY season premiere. They do that with all their shows. It's cheap since they already own the shows, and who knows, some channel surfer might get all caught up in the drama (zzzz...) and stick around for the season premiere.
DeleteThe issue here is the almost total lack of promotion by either TLC or the Browns. Showing a "marathon" on a third-rate basic cable channel does not equate to promotion...IMO.
It'll be interesting to see the ratings.
So, when the Duggers have a new season or The little Couple or Cake Boss or DC cupcakes have a new season, they are all over the talk shows and TLC is pimpin it like crazy? No? Oh.
DeleteSorry, but aren't those shows (with the exception of the Duggars) cancelled?
DeleteLittle People Big World was cancelled, but it's back starting this week. They are turning their barn/farm into a wedding venue, so that's what the season is going to center on. It actually looks interesting! They apparently will be doing most of the work hands-on - renovations and all that. good for the Roloffs!
DeleteNope. Still on. Just not currently. They are the summer series.
Deletei don't watch any reality show other than SW, because i watch too much tv as it is and i watch SW because of my academic interest in mormon polygamy. however, somebody mentioned the roloffs and their new season recently, so i went to tlc's website to check if they were promoting them any more than the browns. turns out they do. anyway, i watched the preview for that and even when they do something that's a financial risk and hard work, the vibe you get is still that of a happy family, not the constant drama we get with the browns.
Deletelike i said, i don't really do reality tv, so i always just assumed that the manufactured drama of SW was the norm, but just seeing that tiny glimpse of the roloffs made the browns look even more freakish by comparison.
i'm actually tempted now to watch the roloffs' show, because they seem lovely, but i'm not sure if it's really worth the time.
from my understanding Little People Big World reneogiated their contract with TLC as filming was taking over their lives, and well they have actual real jobs and careers to do as well as talking heads segments for the show. They now do "specials" Which is great because I like the Roloffs. Maybe it is becasue the Browns dont work that their show is so boring? Hmmmm.......
DeleteSo I watched about 15-20 minutes of the Roloff's "Wedding farm" premiere last night. I know very little about the Roloffs as I have not really watched their show, and based on TWOP forums, there is a LOT of snark about them, mostly about them cashing in on the TLC gravy train, the state of the Roloff's marriage etc...that said...what really struck me about Matt Roloff vs. Kody Brown, is that Matt doesn't just have an idea and talk about it out of his a$$ - he dives right in and follows through at every stage of the process, from finances to actually putting in manual labor. He appears to be a Type A personality so I'm sure he drives his wife and other people around him crazy, but he is definitely a DOER and very detail-oriented. Even if their "Wedding farm" is primarily an effort to keep the TLC money coming in and they never book one single wedding or event outside of ones aired on the show, at the very least it will be done right and will enhance the value of their property. Since when have the Browns done that? (answer - NEVER)
DeleteMatt Roloff is such a good businessman he could even have sister wives and still be above water. There's a huge difference between him and Kody (no pun intended).
DeleteAnd, are the Browns so in debt that even taking in however many thousands of dollars per episode they earn from the show they still can't buy these homes?
Hasn't the state of Utah backed off. Why don't they just go home?
It seems unlikely, too, that they can't find a couple bank-owned 3500-square-foot houses outside Vegas to buy. Why do they really need four separate homes? Meri certainly doesn't need her own home. Why can't she just shack up with Robyn. They pretend to be BFFs. The other two women are the ones who need a large home, and they would probably be happy to share.
RR despite all the Roloff snark I found on TWOP, I have to say I really admire the guy - the man is on *crutches* for God's sake, and still getting deeply involved in the renovation/creation of the wedding farm. even driving the tractor, doing manual labor, supervising, etc etc. and it's not easy walking on crutches. Matt Roloff must have absolutely amazing physical strength and endurance!
DeleteI agree Dakota Justice, I watched a few of the 'Little People, Big World' shows when the series was on a few years ago....and yes, Matt Roloff is definitely a take charge, get it done type of guy, and Amy is no slacker either....I give him and Amy tons of credit for providing for their family.....because you know others with their physical limitations would just give up and let the government take care of them.....Browns could take a huge lesson from the Roloffs on how to take care of a family and actually work instead of collecting food stamps....
DeleteWhy si Robyn always "working on the phone"? Is she dealing with disgruntled customers? LOL!
ReplyDeletei wouldn't call it much in the way of promoting, but tlc have finally put up that video that we've all seen on eonline. with a mere week to go, it's about bloody time too.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say for Mariah's sake is she better pray to God that she will be able to conceive when she does become a sister wife...& if not only then, will she truly realize & understand what her mom has been going thru.... I'm not wishing anything bad upon her, I'm just saying....since the apple doesn't far very far from the tree, she better hope & pray that she's able to conceive. I think it was pretty selfish of her & for Kody to allow this guilt trip to happen!! We've all discussed before, that the Browns wives are really at the age of where they can enjoy the rest of the younger children they have & soon to start welcoming grand children.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I think Mariah is (I don't mean to sound ugly, but) one of the most immature teenagers. Doesn't she realize that what she's saying and then storming off is laying a huge guilt trip on her mom, like it's her fault for not producing other kids? And doesn't Mariah have enough siblings as it is? Jeez Louise! I know it's an overdone storyline, but Mariah should have enough common sense to know that 1) not having more kids was not her mom's desire; 2) going through surrogacy is a difficult--and expensive--procedure and doesn't guarantee a child will come of it; and 3) her mom is to the age of moving on with her life. How self-involved is that girl?
DeleteAs many have mentioned above...recycled scenes...repeat statements, for goodness sakes, we can't even get a NEW teaser?
ReplyDeleteWTH, they must record hours and hours of the shiftless people and we can't even get a new snipet tape?
Isn't there a clip of a heated arguement over who ate the peanut butter frito?
Maybe a glimps of someone compiling the faux cookbook full of cream of wheat and saltine cracker shortcuts?
Or even a brief tour through the lavish closets of the sista's full of bright yellow and orange baby doll tanks, long sleeve under armour and extremely worn out mom jeans.
Come on TLC, throw a fanatic a bone!
LOL........"bright yellow and orange baby-doll tanks"...!!!
DeleteBrown Babes, if you are lurking....
Please, take the hint. You are not pre-teenagers.
lisasumms - That is so funny! And yet really I agree! We read that they all traveled in RVs on some pilgrimage and we don't get any snippets from that trip? I even think the couch session with Mariah was taped last year and it wasn't shown last season. (Remember the famous 'bullcr*p' scene we never saw??) This shows me that TLC just stopped trying on this show. If they can't even piece together enough new material to tempt us all into watching, then TLC must be done. There is no other explanation. So given that they refuse to entertain us, we must do it for ourselves by suggesting topics for future shows. Certainly the mystery of who ate the final peanut butter frito (there would be 21 suspects!) would be riveting. Or a very special episode where "Meri says goodbye to her yellow baby doll tank when Mariah 'accidentally' rips it after confronting her mother over her selfish refusal to use Robyn as a surrogate" See, TLC - we can come up with ideas.
ReplyDeleteI think that scene where Kody stomps out and slams the door is in an RV. I tried rewinding it several times to figure out if he is stomping away from Meri or Robyn but I can't tell for sure because they don't show the other person very clearly. It is confusing because it is right up against the bank scene. So, now I am wondering what Kody is so mad about on their trip in the RV's... maybe they got a million flat tires again or the wives forgot to pack his hair products! Ha ha!
DeleteThat's probaly the only time we will see Kody slamming that door. Kinda like last year's teaser when Robyn yelled at Janelle.
DeleteI agree to some extent, but they have been using old material since the second season. Remember the camping trip he went on with Janelle to Zion National Park? That was filmed for the first season, but not shown until the second.
DeleteMeri tweeted about being on the Steve Harvey Show. Looking forward to their appearance on Steve Wilkos or Ricki Lake next...
ReplyDeleteAccording to my cableguide, Friday's show has Ellen DeGeneres and Steve Harvey will be having his first colonoscopy. It also says "Two Amazing Women who Fought Colon Cancer" so I wonder if this is the show she'll be on...and if Kody and the other wives will be with her. I'm hoping she'll be without Kody...
DeleteI went to the TLC website and finally they put the new video up with a headline date for the new season. It's the same thing all over again, nothing new except Robyn's debt crisis. Umm...didn't the rest of them have bankruptcy pasts? Seems they are using Robyn as the scapegoat. And Meri is way past her prime for bearing children, they need to let that go. Its pretty obvious this is the Brown's final stint because TLC has put almost zero effort in promoting them. "When the ratings go down, we'll be just a normal family again" - yes, and living back in Utah right where you started. :)
ReplyDeleteFiling bankruptcy looks bad on your credit sure but if you spend a couple years after rebuilding credit you can get a home loan. I myself did years ago. I got my mortgage well under the 7 year clearing period (it was 3 years after I filed) after I spent those 3 years making sure any payments I had were paid on time. I also had income which I think would be the biggest issue the Brown's have. You have to prove you can pay back the loan to get one. I'm thinking Janelle has probably handled the rest of the finances well enough to put them in the clear to get a loan, but in Robyn's case she either didn't file bankruptcy or if she did it is to new. That or she filed years ago and didn't bother to do anything to repair her credit score. In the clip it was insinuaded that 3 of the loans may be approved because they were asked what happens if one does not. So maybe the other wives do qualify as to where Robyn's credit really sucks.
DeleteGuess we'll see what happens over this season or mini season or whatever you want to call it. I have filed BK myself (18 years ago) and afterwards I was pretty diligent in making sure my bills and things were paid on time (still am). But then again...I was gainfully employed. The Browns...not so much. Janelle might be an accountant but whether she's the Wizard of Oz being able to clean up their credit AND magically make income appear when there basically is none, other than the TLC $ and whatever they might be getting from their LIV downline (notice i didn't count the SWCloset as "income"?). And really - I don't see banks counting that MLM $$ as real, long-lasting, stable income. They might be qualifying for that 40% down "creative financing" deal we saw last season. However...they did admit at their UNLV chat that they haven't moved anywhere. Guess we'll see. I really do think that people give Janelle WAY too much credit for brains. Not that she isn't smart, but being mixed up with this bunch makes me doubt exactly HOW smart she is.
DeleteI think we talk about Janelle being so smart because, in comparison to the other members of the clan, she's brilliant. If we were looking at her compared to the average person, she would probably just be average. She does seem to be a good mother who has raised strong children and in the situation that she is in, I do admire her for that. Although I would have admired her more if she had just stayed out once she got out. Then again, we never would have heard of her if that was the case ;)
Deletemethinks somebody has been lurking and taking advice: robyn just tweeted a very belated 'thank you' to all serving and former military personnel. robyn being robyn, she also took the opportunity to point out that her younger brother is/was in the armed forces.
ReplyDeletei don't mean to be cynical, but it might have meant more if it had come earlier.
Must have been the day she gets her nails done. Did you see the tweets from Mariah? seems she may be a little sad because nobody tweets her!
Deletebored_now, "i don't mean to be cynical,"
DeleteYou are a kind soul....
But I *do* mean to be cyncial...lol...!!
This is not the first time someone from KodyWorld has obviously been lurking on SWB....and then made an attempt to clean up an obvious faux pas by one or all of them which has been noticed and discussed on SWB.
It recently seems that every time "the Kody is a joke as a father" themes gets going here on SWB, Kody usually does some "Dad" tweety thing to look good.
Hello, Browns....*waving*
Yeah, & I noticed it was the exact same time that Kody tweeted something about Veteran's Day too...So maybe it was their night together...
DeleteWhy does Kody use Twitter to talk with his children? I suppose so he can look like he's involved with them to the rest of the world. He retweets Aspyn's tweet:
ReplyDelete"I am so done talking about college with my parents...". Then Grody tweets "resistance is futile Aaaahahahah!"
I'd die of embarrassment if my father posted things like this. Wonder if the college fight is over a local vs. distant college?
After seeing the preview where he slams the RV door, I think we can feel pretty confident in guessing who messed up Christine's rental house front door.
And on the subject of Robyn's servant I mean sister, Taralyce, maybe she's planned as Logan's first wife, eh? Joking but that's my idea for a storyline. Logan on the Run from Plygdom: Escape from Taralyce.
What will Kody do AFTER the TV show ends? He's had his taste of "fame" so what will he do to get it back? I know...he can try for Dancing with the Stars! Seriously, what do you all think he will try to do for this level of attention? I can't imagine how foul of a mood he be in after the attention is gone. Those households will be worse than they are now with his attitude. We've seen him be verbally abusive/mental cruelty but I truly believe he has the potential to be physical towards the women. He is a bully and a narcissist with a temper.
Kody tweets because he thinks it's kewl. Hey Kody, a real J.O.B. is kewl, too!
DeleteI thought Aspyn was the one teen who really liked Vegas. I don't see her as college material though, so the argument may be the parents want her to go to college and she doesn't want to go. Maybe she just wants to be a nail technician or beautician.
Let's hope the casting producers for Dancing with the Stars have better taste. I think ABC should do a special edition of The Batchelor and cast Kody looking for a 5th wife. Jef Holm can make a special appearance to give Kody advice on courting!
Yes there definitely will be fame "withdrawals" since the "high", cameras, nor $$$ will no longer be there!! The 15 minutes of fame gone to shame being over will eventually turn into some sort of depression & anger. It's usually tends to affect the kids more, but I say in this case it'll hit the adults harder, particularly Kody. Since he's the biggest fame whore & man child anyways....
DeleteMaybe Koyote will hook up with Kate Gosselin and her 8. Their both desperate to be starz on TV. That would make for a real good show.
DeleteTLC tried to spin off the Gosselin bunch in their Sarah Palin's Alaska show. At this point, I'd say the G's are good for one or two guest appearances, but an entire series...I think Kate has definitely worn out her welcome. not to mention that she doesn't seem to be the world's nicest person.
Delete"Koyote"
DeleteOMG
Brilliant.
I finally watched the preview and have to say it’s all about the same old crap. TLC don’t you think you have run the uterus loan store to death? Listen, we know that Robyn loaning her uterus to her poor barren sister wife is so not genuine. We also know that while Christine is so miserably jealous of her new sister wife, and she keeps begging for more attention, she will adjust and probably has already adjusted about as much as one can adjust to sharing a man. We also have figured out that stupid Meri isn’t about to get tied down with a baby so drop the dramatic moments where she cries and is thinking about it; she is near my age and isn’t about to have another baby. Now, what I will watch is Janelle and her kids. Janelle, in spite of having her sister wives’ kids around her children, has successfully raised independent thinkers. To my delight, her children see the phony crap that spews out of the other’s mouths and they are not buying it. So, if you want me to keep watching this horrible non reality show, focus the show on Janelle and her kids and kick Robyn, Christine, and Meri to the curb and only show the baby daddy when Janelle needs to tell him the what for.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they all need a newwwwwwwwww.....uh "Watch"...yeah that will fix it! Buy everyone and new watch!
DeleteOk, I have looked at both the TLC site and the Eonline link and I see no door slamming anywhere? Maybe it was edited out? The only thing I think is 'new' vs. prior seasons is Robyn visiting a credit counselor, I still think the Mariah clip is an old one never aired. It has been MONTHS - surely they have new and more compelling footage. There is something wrong about the whole thing. I go back to my original premise that something more sinister is happening. I still think something happened with one of the wives or kids and TLC is backing away for legal reasons. They will wrap up whatever they heaven't shown already, do lots of 'recaps' and that will be that. I don't know, is there anyone in our little world here that is in the entertainment industry that could weigh in as to why TLC would not be promoting and showing new footage?
ReplyDeleteThe scene of Kody slamming the door was from the first commercial shown on TLC advertising the return of SW. It was an RV door and Kody had a man purse (or smallish backpack) slung over his shoulder.
DeleteI think what has happened is what Kody never thought would happened: This is the last season of SW due to low ratings and poor quality episodes. These people live in Las Vegas, an entertainment mecca, yet Vegas is rarely shown. There are campgrounds I'm sure at Mt Charleston, but Kody and krew go to Big Bear CA to camp out? And when Vegas is finally highlighted in an episode, it's some obscure dinner cruise at night (no pictures of Lake Mead), or some old cowboy bar in the boonies. The Browns can tweet pictures of themselves attending this Las Vegas show, and attending a new exhibit, but it never makes their TV show. Even on those insipid wives night out and 'boys' night out shows, the wives only got as far as Fremont street (or their kitchen making sushi), while Kody is seen wrestling at some gym or 'drinking' at a old cowboy bar with his non drinking brother or shooting off his assault rifle at some indoor firing range. The Browns appear to have more adventures on twitter than on the show. They make Vegas look DULL.
The Breaking Amish reality show actually showcased New York City with scenes of the cast walking and admiring the city, or going to dinner at a restaurant, or shopping, or looking for jobs.
Not the Kody Krew. I remember how Christine tweeted about a date with Kody at the Venetian, about her romantic dinner and the canal ride afterward. Why wasn't that filmed for the show? But what the audience got was Christine on a helicopter ride and Kody getting her a yogurt afterward. See what I mean? Boring...
I have a feeling the trip to Nauvoo will be more of the same. Kody will be front and center in all the shots. It will be all about Kody, with Kody talking blah blah blah...then Robyn saying blah blah blah and crying. One shot of Nauvoo for every 20 shots of Kody holding court or disappearing when one of Janelle's or Christine's or Robyn's kids starts to act up.
I'm guessing that the Venetian wouldn't allow the show to film on its property - not without a big payment to do so. The Venetian is already famous - it doesn't need a promo boost from a B-grade reality show. and having the SW cameras and crew might disrupt their customers who are there to spend money at the casinos and gift shops.
DeleteI don't think that the show has filmed in ANY casino/hotel in LV. the closest they came was being on Fremont Street.
DJ -- I totally agree! I would think it would be BAD PR for most Vegas casinos to have the Browns filmed there. I would certainly think twice about staying in any hotel/casino well known to be frequented by Kody and Krew, and I do travel to LV on a fairly regular basis.
DeleteAlso, w/r/t the last SWB post, I agree with you as well re: Kody's hair. He will always be a disgusting swine of a man to me but pulling the hair back is an improvement and more realistic for a man his age (rather than the embarrassing surfer 'do which does little to complement his beer belly or sunglasses tan-line).
Hi Everyone!
ReplyDeleteHave you gone on the mysisterwifescloset.com? I hadn't looked since the last episode aired. Today? There is hardly anything on that site for sale! I seem to recall there were pages of jewelry including ridiculously expensive bracelets and such. Mabye the 10 items they are posting now are the only ones they have sold?!
Robchin... better get amping up that marketing plan instead of those nails!
I have had nails for over 10 years. Any time I lost a job, nails were the first to go. Seriously? You have 3 kids and are tweeting while at a nail salon?
LOSER is the only thing that comes to mind. GET A FRIGGING LIFE ALREADY!!!!!!
Actually Robyn has 4 kids! Sadly David Jr...aka Dayton(Dayun) tends to get overlooked unless its his birthday!
DeleteBut yeah in total agreement: GET A FRIGGING LIFE ALREADY!!!! :D
If I'm not mistaken, poor Dayton/David's first birthday with the family was kind of "overlooked"..While they gave Meri a huge party with costumes--the WORKS...(Because the poor adults needed a DISTRACTION *wipe brow boo boo lips*)....I could be wrong because I have not seen every single episode but the only reason this kind of sticks with me is because I thought I heard later that one year they combined their birthdays since they were so close in proximity .(Meri and Dayton)..and I kept wondering why did they give that poor kid an "afterthought" type of celebration on the fly since they were packing (to escape the PO Po)...especially his first year in this new family situation, while pulling out all of the stops for AN ADULT...They should have given HIM the huge blowout party, welcoming him into the family...
DeleteMy apologies if I am remembering that incident incorrectly...but there is this underlying attitude that the adults need all of these breaks and distractions from their lives while the kids just get what is leftover...physically, emotionally and financially. Yea, nails don't sound like much but many of us know what a luxury that is and you don't sit and get your nails done when your family's finances are in the toilet...
Hopefully they will save whatever money they make from this season because their future at TLC is looking bleak. I'd like to see them in affordable housing, in the same school district they are presently in so the children do not have to change schools. Christine could be in charge of childcare and the rest of the "adults" need to seek full-time employment with benefits.
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting that so many of you seem to favor Janelle when she excuses Kody's behavior more than anyone. I used to like her the most but it got on my nerves that she would be explaining away his ridiculous behavior constantly.
ReplyDeleteJanelle appears to be more intelligent than the other wives, and she certainly has a strong work ethic, but I have to agree with you that she does a lot of explaining for Kody. One in particular was her explanation for the Lexus. She said Kody needed it for his job (as if he was some executive needing to impress his clients) and they got it 'cheap'. Unless it fell off a truck somewhere, there's no way a 60K car could be had 'cheap', even if it was several years old when purchased. Kody wanted that car to impress, so prospective wives would think he was prosperous. It worked...he got Robyn!
DeleteI like watching her because in interviews, if Kody is asked a question she knows he can't answer, you can see the fear in her face he will say something wrong and she will quickly step in before he can make a bigger fool of himself. Robyn hasn't quite learned how to do that yet, while Meri will just throw looks that kill and Christine's jaw will drop down to her chest.
All four of the wives down to Robyn are passive-aggressive enablers. Janelle included - little self-esteem...more than likely married Kody and were willing to share because maybe they thought he was the best they could do...I believe Meri has gone on record to say that she never dated anyone before Kody.
DeleteAnd Kody was good looking back then if you like that sort of guy. too pretty for my taste personally. He's such a dilettante -a dabbler, never staying with one thing for very long and really ultimately looking out for #1. the whole reason he even keeps wanting more and more kids is so he can be the Grand Poobah on his very own planet. IMO.
Perhaps Janelle is also trying to justify staying with this bunch in her own mind...
DeleteWhy are they only showing season 3 and 4 on Sunday? Usually it starts from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteUsually, its only the previous season that's shown during a marathon. Unless its a 24 hour marathon - like for The Twilight Zone.
DeleteOh are they only showing season 4?
DeleteI just checked my cableguide - the first episode in the marathon is "Sister Wives Separated" which corresponds to my DVR recording of the 5/13/12 season 4 premiere episode. So it looks like TLC is only showing season 4.
DeleteI find it strange that TLC, known for milking Jon and Kate Gosslin's breakup and Michelle Duggar's tragic misscarriage are not promoting hardly any real drama of the Browns. Could it be that the Browns are really that boring or does KB keep all the real drama for when the cameras are off?
ReplyDeleteHeh--every time I see someone write the word "Nauvoo", my brain reads "Naboo" (planet in Star Wars).
ReplyDeleteTotally inconsequential but I thought I'd share. :)
oh good, it's not just me. i always kind of wondered if george lucas was a mormon (he isn't), like the guy who wrote the original 'battlestar galactica'. i only watched the reimagined version of that (my husband doesn't approve, he grew up with the original) and it's really weird to see all these mormon names and institutions coming up in a story that isn't that mormon in content. great show, btw, if unbearably bleak at times - oh, and disregard the last five minutes of the last episode.
DeleteI certainly agree that Janelle is the Kody apologist of the group. She seems to be the ‘spokesperson’ for the family….explaining to us non-plygs why Kody’s decisions make sense. I used to think Janelle was the sensible one of the wives but that turned for me when she totally supported his non-involvement of two issues regarding the children that I thought deserved both a mother’s and father’s attention: 1) the bullying episode where Meri was yelling at Christine’s kids for not being accepting enough of Robyn’s kids and 2) the nose-bloodying incident between Janelle’s younger boys while they were picking out their Charlie Brown Christmas tree. And then she explained it away on couch time as “it’s better if the moms handle the kids, Kody gets too ‘strict’ (can’t remember the wording)”. That’s when I realized that Janelle is the Kody apologist and is a firm supporter in the patriarchal set up. Or maybe she just tries to justify to herself that she made the right choice in moving back in with the family after she had set up her own space and seemed to have made it just fine on her own.
ReplyDeleteJanelle is definitely known for damage control. Which annoys me too! You shouldn't have to constantly defend & make excuses for a parent we all know who isn't around & involved w/ his kids a whole lot. Even tho, they would like us to believe otherwise!!
ReplyDeleteThat's because Jenelle is very smart. She realizes and sees the immaturity of Kody and what falls out of his mouth. She is almost like a mother to Kody, but trying to make it seem like "Oh, this is what he really meant to say" type thing. Fixing his silly talk and thinking that she has made us believe that it was really Kody's thoughts. But sadly, we really know and see his childish ways. He will not grow up and she knows it. She has settled that this is her life (right now as long as TLC is supplying a paycheck). I think once the 15 minutes is over...she will be on her way to become a very successful Realtor. I think she has it in her.
DeleteI know they took their realtor tests and Janelle passed, but has she actually become licensed? Does anyone know if she's working yet?
DeleteThe issue with Janelle, or any of the Brown adults (not counting the teens of course) is that they all have one thing in common - a serious lack of motivation/conviction.
DeleteThis includes Janelle. at one point I think she did have the motivation, after all she furthered her education to the point where she had a good office job - but that was years ago. She needs to be back in a secure office job. Based on realtors I know (and I know quite a few) Janelle just doesn't have the ambition nor the personality or the "go get 'em"-ness that a realtor needs to have in order to succeed in the business.
In previous blog posts/comments, we have had commentary from posters here who are also in the real estate industry, who have given insight on what it takes, both financially and timewise, to become a realtor. Passing the test is just the beginning. there are also licensing fees involved, training periods in which one is working for peanuts or less than peanuts while "learning the trade" under an established realtor. Furthermore, if Janelle WAS licensed, it would be online somewhere and one or more of our real estate folks here would have found something about it and brought it to CJ's attention. It has been almost a YEAR since she took the test...and apparently done NOTHING with it.
Janelle might be "very smart" but I've had my doubts about that. Smart means nothing, or less than nothing, without motivation, persistence and ambition to set goals and work towards achieving those goals. Not just saying "I'm going to get my real estate license", take the test, pass and then do nothing. Or instead of disciplining her kids (as in that fistfight that broke out last Christmas) just say "I'm going to make their lives as miserable as they made mine" and passively-aggressively do worse than nothing, making the two boys hug each other...? what they needed was a time out and some discipline and they didn't get it. IMO.
A couple of days ago Janelle tweeted a photo of the sunrise as she left the gym. That takes a lot of motivation to get up so early just to sweat!
DeleteOn the website 4thefamily.us there is a post seeking a new polygamist family. Kinda looks like maybe from TLC and was posted on October 30. Think the Browns are being replaced?
ReplyDeleteWow that's actually interesting.Good find Kristie :D
DeleteIt was posted 10/03/2012 :"We would like to start filming in 5 wks. Each family involved will be compensated $4K per episode. Which is nice. If ratings are good, the families can renegociate for next seasons. We normally run 13 episodes per season"
Haha...I'm sure the Brown's are well aware of this too & that's why things are the way they are now! I'm really curious as to why the Browns couldn't or didn't want to negociate another season? Maybe Kody, got to greedy, like most on SWB have pointed out! But this TLC ad is very telling & speaks volumes!!!!
Oh no not again!! They need a new family of narcissists to exploit. The Brown's gooses are cooked!
DeleteI checked out the ad and the website of the production company. 4beesmedia.com.
DeleteThey say there is a network involved...but looking at their past and current projects on their site - NONE of them have actually been aired on a TV network. They have ONE show "concept" (Raising hell) that got to the semi-finals of some TV Festival in NY, and another show with YouTube clips...but nothing on air. None of them seem to have any contacts with Discovery/TLC. The head guy's LinkedIn page shows that he is a professor, he's run some sort of paranormal research facility...nothing about shows he's produced that have actually hit the airwaves other than YouTube.
My personal opinion - this is a small project - just because they *say* there is a network involved, doesn't mean there IS. More than likely it's yet another reality concept THEY are filming to bring to a network to see if they can get a nibble. NOT TLC, who works with already-established production companies with a track record such as Figure 8 Films.
Wanted to add to my earlier comment on this - it just doesn't seem like TLC's modus operandi to do ANOTHER show which is identical to what they already have - wasn't/isn't the premise of SW that they are a "happy family living the polygamist lifestyle"? Sounds to me more like a copycat effort by an Ed Wood-type director/producer. I note he really seems to be into all the kooky paranormal/ghost chasing stuff, boasting on his "award" in a "Demon Chaser Film Challenge" as "best directing". woot.
DeleteIt would be interesting to know which (if any) network has offered to air their copycat concept for a reality show. I would bet my 401k it ISN'T TLC. IF a network even exists. They STILL don't have a network for their reality show "Ghost Box" which is apparently about some ghost chaser who has a "technologically scientific breakthrough" ghost box. (Penn & Teller would have a field day with this one!)
Look...this Four Bees Media doesn't appear to have any real contacts with TV networks. From what I've read, TLC or any established network is not going to just approve a whole show based on a concept unless it's coming from one of the production companies they've worked with in the past. I would love it if someone would email this Brian guy and find out exactly WHICH network has purportedly given them the green light to produce a copycat plyg show. They might just be fishing to see if they get any interested nibbles.
"Each family involved will be compensated $4k per episode, which is nice." ("...which is nice"?? that doesn't sound professional to me...also $4k divided amongst a large polygamist family isn't all that "nice" - especially since they will have to pay taxes on that little windfall...)
That, right there, to me is the tipoff that there is no TLC (or more than likely ANY network) involvement, since as we ALL know, TLC never discloses how much its reality show participants are compensated. The ads I have seen from legit/established production companies looking for show participants never state what the compensation will be. My guess is that this Brian guy is running on a shoestring and IF (that's a big IF!) this even happens, he will end up paying the family out of pocket, probably using a credit card to obtain a cash advance, like in the documentary film "American Movie". Since I was able to find at least 2 other "ads" from this Brian guy looking for participants for other concepts (such as Real Life Superheroes) I really, REALLY do not think that TLC or any major or semi-major network is working with these guys.
Summing up - Total Ed Wood.
I thought the same thing, but the above the ad it says. TLC. it still sounds fishy to me. I also went to website didn't see any credits. I would think "SISTER WIVES " belongs to family, they must have a copyright on it.
Delete5th Wife - the reason it says "TLC Sister Wives" is because the "ad" or whatever you want to call it, was posted on the 4thefamily.us "TLC Sister Wives" forum. the home page of the site shows the most current posts at their forum, and that's why it says "TLC" on the top. Again - I would bet my entire 401k that TLC is not involved whatsoever and that in fact NO network is involved at this time and this Brian dude is blowing smoke...WHY would TLC do ANOTHER show on polygamy, unless they were spinning off on one of the Brown friends/family? for instance that couple a couple seasons ago who were considering taking a second wife...? or if Mariah becomes a sister wife. kind of like the Bates and the Duggars. I think that TLC has done as much as they could with the topic of polygamy,at least as far as ratings go.
DeleteAs far as the copyright issue, not sure. Sister Wife/wives has been in common usage for some time now when talking about polygamy - Big Love used it all the time for example. Of course, one could always check the US Copyright website to see if a copyright exists.
I just checked the USPTO site and the trademark Sister Wives is owned by Discovery Networks.

Thank-you I knew you would get to the bottom of things. Perhaps thats why its called "my sister wifes closet" TLC wouldn't let them use sister wives. Thanks again
Deleteactually, i think they called it that because it's grammatically correct.
Deletei did just check their website - no ornament yet, what a shock - and noticed that while the name might be correct (provided there is only one sister wife, and i admit that otherwise the placement of the apostrophe would likely overtax them), the very first sentence of their store description contains a rather egregious punctuation error, to wit 'all your friend's closets'.
i trust i do not have explain to anybody here why that is wrong, but as a certified TEFL teacher, i can't quite help myself:
all your friend's closets = one friend with many closets
all your friends' closets = multiple friends with either one or more closets each
my sister wife's closet = one sister wife with one closet
my sister wives' closets = multiple sister wives with either one or more closets each
i think they chose the name wisely, as the second alternative is cumbersome at best.
then again, people do seem to have trouble finding their site, so maybe the choice wasn't all that wise.
This is from that link:
ReplyDeleteThere is a network wanting us to film a new show based on happy families that practice Polygamy.
One very KEY word sticks out here - they are looking for a HAPPY family.
LOL Good luck finding that!!
DeleteThe most interesting aspect of Sister Wives is this Sister Wives Blog!
ReplyDeletePerhaps the word is out in CableTV-land that SW is on life support with no hope for resuscitation after the existing films are shown.
ReplyDeleteAnd this 4Bees guy thinks that if he acts quickly, he can score a winner by showing something other than the sad-sack Kody show...sort of the "anti-KodyWorld" plyg story.
He could always hire a few Browns as creative, phony-script consultants.....
...that is a topic they do know something about. :))
that might be stretching it a bit. I think this Brian guy is just a fly-by-night director/wannabe producer and at any rate, if he DID hire the Browns as "creative consultants", I'm sure that Discovery/TLC/F8Fs has some sort of contractual agreement keeping the Browns from participating in any other reality type show that might compete with theirs, without the express permission of Discovery Networks and so on.
DeleteIMO it's just good old American capitalism at work. You find a successful concept, and instead of coming up with your OWN concept, you just piggyback/copy an existing one. that's what this guy is doing or at least trying to do. The 4thefamily.us site/forum isn't exactly a hotbed of activity, based on the number (or lack thereof) of postings on its forum.
Besides a truly "happy" plyg family is probably hard to find, and the few happy ones probably have seen what has happened with the Browns and said...tain't worth it especially for a mere $4k.
DJ,
ReplyDeleteI was just kidding...!
This guy is just a fly on the wall. It's not going to go anywhere.
lol Amused no worries. that's the drawback of the written word, no inflection or facial expressions! ;-P
DeleteI heard the sister wives favorite song is ding-a-ling
ReplyDeleteI have a question...if we DVR SW does it still count as ratings?? I've always wondered that.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:48 - good question and I've wondered the same myself so I googled it. the short answer - yes it does, but you would have to be a Nielsen household tracking ratings for it to matter really.

That's awesome - i always thought that me watching SW was helping the show but since I'm not a Nielsen household then no worries :) I can fast-forward and rewind to my hearts content. Woot!
Would anyone be willing to put the natalie morales interview up on youtube, I would love to see what all the fuss is about! :)
ReplyDeletethe dargers tweeted their thanks to the browns for letting them appear on the show and linked to their blog:

So weird that the Dargers wives are pretty and slim while Kody's are...well you know :)
