etonline.com Video: 'Sister Wives' Fight Over House Size

And the product placement continues. This time it's Pinnacle Homes, the builders of the 'cuddle sac' homes. Some questions I'd like to ask the builder: Why was that cul-de-sac virtually dead for so many years and what kind of deal was arranged for the Browns to get those homes...Is this real or all make believe for the show.

And if the Browns do move into the cul-de-sac, I would ask Christine why did she imply they did not get the homes. Did she think her fans couldn't handle the truth? Or was she under a TLC imposed gag order and opened her mouth when she should have said "You'll have to wait and see..."

What are your thoughts?

123 comments:

  1. I do not believe they got the homes. I think there is no move in the future or they would be tweeting about progress. If TLC is keeping them quiet I say bad move. People are losing interest and at least watching and hearing about homes being built would give is something to look forward too because right now the show is just down right ridiculous.

    1. Cynical Jinx, have you been to Vegas lately? There are a ton of subdivision lots just sitting empty. They even have the fancy entrances but no homes in them. So it's not a shock to me that they found this cul de sac. When they first started looking I was wondering why they were having so much trouble finding enough land next to each other to buy when Vegas is full of them.

  2. Yeah, I have always felt a wet bar to be a NECESSITY. Give me a freaking break! LOL!!! You live in a dream world Meri; your sense of entitlement just incredible. But then aren't they all completely unrealistic and selfish about the home situation?

    1. My thoughts too Amyinbc, but obviously, unlike Mona we don't know how much entertaining Meri does! LOL

And how about "if these are the only kids I'm going to have I want to welcome them and have the rooms for them" Really? How many times do you have your "bonus children" over to your house now Meri?????

    2. Meri is a basket case! All this chick does is cry. How self absorbed can she possibly be? Maybe if she had a JOB she wouldnt have so much time to think about how horrible it is she cant have a WET BAR and get pregnant. I AM SO SICK OF HER CRYING OVER NOT BEING ABLE TO MAKE A DECISION ABOUT HAVING ANOTHER KID!! We really don't care anymore. How she can even consider doing in vitro at $15,000 a pop when she doesnt work? Shut up already Meri!!!!!!! Be thankful for what you have. She is getting a 5 BR house which is 3 BR more than I have! I dont blame the other wives for being annoyed with her. I want to slap her!

      Delete
    3. Everyone should be looking at this from another standpoint. Sure Meri doesn't need a five bedroom and a wet bar. She doesn't even need a four bedroom house for herself. However she needs a bigger house for the sake of the other women. She does have the other kids over quite a bit. They showed this on previous seasons. Also where does every one think all these children and their spouses and their children are going to sleep in the future when they come for a visit during holidays etc...? They are going to have to use her house and her extra rooms.

Then there is the economical common sense here that one must consider. All the houses in the cul de sac need to be roughly the same size and same price, otherwise when it comes time to sell out the smaller house will drive down all the prices on the other properties. We have all seen that happen in neighborhoods. This is why many builders insist on certain number of bedrooms and baths and garages. It isn't because they want to build all the same. It is because just one house in the subdivision being considered inferior can ruin the sell of all the other houses.

  3. Meri looks like she wants to rip Janelle's head off :) Go Janelle, BE THE VOICE OF REASON!

    1. It's hard to watch Janelle having to basically be the provider and voice of reason for all of them. She's constantly worrying and calculating the entire family's needs and Meri couldn't care less. Janelle is turning herself inside out trying to figure out how they'll pay the bills while Meri is spending as though they have no bills! I really feel for Janelle as I've no doubt that she stresses about their situation day and night. She may be the second wife, but I don't think she envisaged being stuck with so much responsibility.

It's one thing to have to pull such a heavy load, it's another entirely when those who should be helping you to pull it are actually working against you!

The income division should be for 5 primary caretakers and an allocation per child. Each wife should have their primary caretaker amount plus the children's allocations so that their kids can be clothed and fed. With that Meri would get 1 primary and 1 child, Janelle would get 1 primary and 6 child allocations. It's the only thing that makes sense. That way Meri isn't being given a smaller chunk per se, "her" money would be the same amount as the other adults. She'd only be given less for the kids (who don't exist)!

      Delete
  4. When I was a little girl I wanted to grow up and marry a Prince! That would make me a princess and we would live in a castle and live happily ever after :) Then I grew up and realized yeah, husband was a great guy and married him. We may not live in a castle but we live well within our means and are happy with our lot.

Something tells me Meri never grew up. Nope, never got the house full of kids she wanted but feels so ENTITLED to have the house she would have needed. Meri, get a grip woman. You come off as completely selfish. Wanting a big ass home so your family can congregate there? Spare me. Special requests on the house configuration? Are you SERIOUS? The big house not even good enough for you?!

    1. I don't watch t.v. often...I read instead. Sister Wives is the show I try never to miss. I always liked Meri best however, from the above comments I've missed something. I have a complaint about the show, which maybe the reason I've missed something about the house. My complaint is: Not only with SW, but other reality shows on TLC, the background sounds (music) are so loud that I cannot hear what the characters are saying. This has been a long time complaint.
Please TLC, whomever is in charge of audio, quieten the background sound and allow the characters' voices, conversations be heard!!!!!

  5. dear sweet baby jesus...enough with the wet bar! i know for damn sure a wet bar is not what is making or breaking your decision! if it is, you are even more of an idiot than i thought!

and janelle, do you know why your initial thougts were that if you concede to meri on something then you would get the shaft? because it has happened before. many times. by the way, janelle's face, if i just knew how to capture and post a still shot of her expression when meri was whining (again) "i know it's been so long...**sniff sniff**...if these are the only children i'm destined to have...***tear***...janelle looked like "omg, please stfu!!!"

    1. U know that was her argument for the big rental w/ a pool too. So she's been there over a year, & I just wonder how often the bonus kids get to go over there to hang out freely & comfortably? Odds are her home is not a bonus kids destination spot.
Also, during Meri's speech about she knows that she's been a burden to the family & if the roles were reversed she would probably feel the same way too...Anyways I can't quote her word for word, but it all was just a bunch of whiny jibberish that just doesn't make a lick of sense....Ughhhh!!!

    2. I just joined this blog after watching the new episode. Wow Im totally speechless. The greed and the entitlement is beyond words. I hated Robyn from day one but Meri is now getting on my last nerve! These two crazies should move in together!

      Delete
    3. Didn't meri say one time that she has is more strict and is known for enforcing the rules? Doesn't sound like the type of house that kids are going to hang out in and relax, wet bar or not. I think she just gets stuck on a topic and rides it into the ground. Something she can use as leverage to come out feeling like she has made the decision or getting a little extra bc of only having "the one child.". Idk if list caters to her bc he really carea about her or if she is afraid she will leave him. She seems like the type to threaten that a lot.

    4. Hahaha...caramel I think meri's p.s. "I know if the roles were reversed" statement was she realized after saying what she said and thought Shit this makes me sound bad!

    6. The part that got me about this whole thing was Meri's hesitation after "if these are the only kids" *stop to wipe my tears* GAG!

It's been so long that I'd think Meri should have a better handle on the infertility issue. Surely other people that have fertility issues don't cry every single time children are mentioned, do they?

I never had to deal with issues like that so maybe I'm not "clued in" enough, but I'd like to think that every time it came up in conversation about me only having 1 child that I wouldn't cry. Am I looking at this the wrong way?

I really think Meri shouldn't have to stop and wipe tears away every time anything having to do with children is mentioned.

      Delete
    7. Actually I had (have) fertility problems and I have to be warned ahead of time if people are going to have kids in the office so I can make sure I'm not there. Otherwise I'll just start sobbing. It's a pretty deep pain and most people don't understand it. Which makes it even harder.

      Delete
    8. Anonymous @5:50PM

I'm really sorry you've had to struggle with that issue. I appreciate you giving me your point of view because I just thought after a certain amount of time the pain diminished.

Please know I didnt mean to minimalize what you or anyone dealing with infertility have gone through.

      Delete
    9. But she is not infertile. She has one child. That pain should be less since she was able to have one. I think the tears were Robyns play on attention and Meri started using them since it worked for Robyn. I bet she has been secretly taking birth control for 17 years afterhaving the first and realizing she gets less husband time when she has to share with her daughter.
Unrelated but what are they feeding that kid? The first few episodes I thought some of the girls were preggers.

      Delete
    10. I agree...I thought the daughters were expecting also at first.

She also does not seem to appreciate that fact that she does have one child. Most with infertility would be thrilled to be able to have ONE child.

      Delete
    11. Thanks for saying that Funky Town. I didn't think you were being rude or anything, I know it's hard to understand if you don't live it. But, yes, it's a pain that can last a lifetime.

To Anon 3:03, she is definitely infertile. She has both primary (infertility before any kids) and secondary (infertility after a successful conception). To tell someone they should have "less" pain because they already have the one kid is ignoring all of the issues that go along with infertility. Just because she had one kid doesn't mean it doesn't break her soul to not be able to conceive another.

I still don't like Meri, and I think she's playing up this surrogacy issue for ratings because her uterus is clearly not her issue - the age of her eggs is. And possibly she doesnt ovulate on her own but again that doesnt matter because her eggs are pretty old. And Robyn can't help her with that. And I agree that she is done having kids and just wants to enjoy her "expensive tastes" now.

But, just don't underestimate how soul-crushing infertility is, especially when there's so much pressure to produce and the problem clearly lies with you. You don't even feel like a woman sometimes. And that's without the crazy AUB culture.

      Delete
    12. Anon, thanks for explaining how it feels to be in yours (or Meri's) shoes.

I agree that I don't believe she wants another child. Most people don't want to start over at her age, I mean obviously it happens, but most wouldn't choose to.

You pointed out that in the AUB there is a lot of pressure to produce and everyone knows Krody has no problem getting the others pregnant so yes, you're right, it probably is terrible for her. I just never thought of all those things wrapped up together.

Thank you. That's why I love this blog, people willingly share so that others can understand some issues they otherwise wouldn't.

      Delete
    13. This isn't about being infertile. Isn't Mariah about 18? Why has Meri waited until she is almost too old to have a child? If I wanted a baby as bad as she (sniff, sniff) does I would know it. I wouldn't need all this time!!!!! And why doesn't she work???? Janelle works raises 6 kids and does all the financing. What does Meri do for this family??? While Janelle is worried about her credit she is paying for Meri's good credit?????? And while Meri needs the big house, wet bar, 5, 6, 7 bedrooms so she can have parties Janelle is trying to figure out what she can cut out to be able to have this house. She should send her kids that will have to double up over to Meri's house for their own bedroom and atleast dinner. She will have 3,4,5, rooms empty. Cody, why are you and Meri together with your money? There is nothing fair about any of this. You need to rethink your dividing skills. And Meri, the cards you were dealt? Deal with it. Go to work Janelle needs to feed her children...

    14. Meir did work in Utah. When the show first started Christine was the only one who didn't work. I remember Mer saying she was fired after the show was broadcast. Then she couldn't get a job because she was listed as a a criminal when Utah came after them. As for now I am not sure if that has been changed. Remember she worked with children dependent on the state or some such. And you can't do that with a record or investigation against you. Also I thought they were wall doing that gym ownership thing as well as the jewelry line. So I would thin Meri does do something to contribute to the family income. Not to mention she gets her share from the producers of the show. Which if she didn't exist would their even be a show as she is the legally married sister wife.

      Delete
    15. They decided not to do the gym and they only have 10 items for sale in My Sister Wives Closet. Who's going to buy that crap anyway? They're a joke!

      Delete
    16. @ Anon 10:11

Why would Meri be listed as a criminal though? It seems to me that she would be the one of them legally 100% in the clear as she is not purporting to be married to someone she isn`t married to. She is legally married to the Kodster and I don`t really see how she could be prosecuted for him having more wives, even with her knowledge.

  8. How, how, how is a wetbar a necessity??? I just hosted a large gathering of neighbors and friends for thanksgiving dinner. Somehow, I managed without a wetbar. Honestly, if she needs one that badly, hire a plumber to put one in after she moves in to the home. It would allow her to purchase a smaller home that better suited her needs and be cheaper. It's ridiculous to pay 30 years interest on a wetbar.

    1. That is exactly what i was thinking. I don't understand why a wet bar would make any difference in her life. It's a piece of furniture with a sink.

Someone in the last thread mentioned the possibility of menopause and I agree that is a definite possibility.

Speaking from personal experience- sometimes you just get irrational and want bizarre stuff! :-P

      Delete
    2. I usually just turn one of my kitchen counters into a mock wet bar when entertaining! I fill one side of the sink w/ ice to keep bottled beer/water/wine/coolers ice cold Or I'll use a huge holiday bin to add a touch of decor & I use an inexpensive fancy glass bowl for ice just for drinks. Set up my shaker/bar utensils, garnishes, glasses, basic liquors & mixers accordingly & just improvise & go w/ the flow. U can purchase the basic red/white/blush box wine & just pour into decanters to serve to guests. Hell if U keep the alcohol steady flowing & small appetizers available, people will just think ur the best host ever...IMO ;D

    3. Let me add something, since I have personal experience with a wet bar. Our family went to the beach this summer and rented a condo. There off the kitchen was the magical, sought-after, must have wet bar of meri's dreams. Guess how many times we used it??? 0! And we stayed a week!

    4. I have sex on a scheduleNovember 23, 2012 at 1:01 PM

I love this comment. The IRONY here is that Meri belongs the AUB religion. They don't drink alcohol!!!!! It is against the "Word of Wisdom!". These clowns always seem to do the weirdest things. If you notices the Browns drinking coffee in previous episodes. That is technically against the "Word of Wisdom" too!!
Mainstream Mormons CANNOT enter the Holy Temple if they drink coffee!!

So either Meri is setting up a "sinful" (in the eyes of Active Mormons) wetbar to serve coffee or she just wants to serve punch and cookies from it. Either way get a buffet Meri!! It's less expensive AND not breaking the word of wisdom!! ;)

      Delete
    5. @I have sex... So TRUE! I went to college with a mainstream!Mormon (she was from Salt Lake) and she told us about all the crazy things she did in high school: like when she was supposed to be at religious class at the Temple, she'd sneak off to the local Starbucks.

And she told me that anything with caffeine was against the religion, so coke and pepsi are out too.

      Delete
    6. From what I understand the AUB do not follow the Word of Wisdom. It did not become mandatory in the Mormon church util after the AUB split off. Mormons can also drink Caffeine, just not Coffee or Tea. The church released a new statement clarifying, but that was always the official stance. Some members like to exclude sodas also, but that was never official. All the Word of Wisdom stated is Hot Drinks, that has been interpreted to mean Coffee and Tea. It does not talk about Caffeine at all.

      Delete
    7. How can caffeine in a soda be okay but caffeine in coffee or tea be taboo? So silly.

      Delete
  9. I'm not sure what I believe anymore about the homes. It seems ridiculous to have all this footage about the houses just to find out later that they never got the houses. I would say TLC wouldn't do that but they did show Michelle Duggar happily talking about baby number 20 and they aired it way after the miscarriage. So who knows what TLC is doing here. Whether or not they really got these houses, I would say if I were Janelle, Christine and Robyn, I think I would be sooooooo sick of Meri and her never-ending pity party about the lack of children. I think it's taking every bit of self control for Janelle not to jump off the couch and start slapping Meri. I mean, good grief....Meri really wants to be a counselor to at risk youth? She needs to get herself into some major counseling and stop already about the babies she never had. Meri is an absolute kill joy...

  10. Meri: kids will not feel more 'welcomed' or 'loved' because you have 'space' or a wet bar, for that matter....kids want a relationship, they want time to spend with you and the other moms, doing fun and silly things together, not 'space'...YOU are the one that wants the space, for whatever reason that may be, possibly equality with the other wives, even tho they actually NEED more space for their kids, you don't....you are trying to justify your unreasonable and selfish wants by transferring those wants to the kids....think about it.....

    ReplyDelete
  11. People here have been referring to Meri and Mean Meri, love it, fits so well! I don't understand if they are supposed to be one big happy family, why Meri wouldn't understand that the others all have more children and therefore would need a bigger chunk of the combined income. Every week we are told that they are the 5 musketeers (more or less) but we also see Meri's insistance that she get her 'fair share'. If Meri's sister wives were truly sisters that she truly loved, and all of the children were HER children too (as they profess) then why in the world wouldn't she be working toward a common goal to make sure all were taken care of, and step back with her demands for the same big crazy stupid house? The premis of the show has been completely destroyed. I really hope that Janelle and/or Christine read this blog and are thinking about reaching out for some help, they have to get the heck out of there or their lives will never be more than subsidizing Meri and sKody!

    1. Those were my thoughts exactly. Meri is selfish. Don't think that the other children don't pick up on this. They are fully aware that Janelle and Christine struggle to make ends meet, while Meri lives the life of Riley. Believe me. Meri self entitled attitude is not creating warm fuzzy feelings between her and Janelle's and Christine's kids.

  13. If they *do* get the houses, given the general consensus of the opinions on SWB and other sites about the absurdity of it all, the human interest factor is growing more anemic by the day.
Seriously, where do they (producers) think they can go with this Mc Mansion premise??
People now see this family as grifting, consumer hoarders and exploiters.
For the *working* viewers, watching this show and watching this group of dysfunctional scammers score these houses will become a source of agitation and disgust.

And if they *don't* get the houses and all this "will we or won't we be approved" is and has been *just contrived, deliberate bullsh*t,*.....that will also be a reason for viewers to be disenchanted, and jump ship and move on to something else.

Either way, TLC and the others involved in producing SW just may have painted themselves and the show into a corner of no return with this house crap. jmo

    5. Meri has really been trashed here. In the beginning I liked her but over time this has changed. I do wonder though if by wanting an equal house she is to havel house she is trying to protect herself legally and financially e.g. what will she have when the show is over. I, for one, think it makes sense if she is to have a big house that it have the biggest dining room, double appliances in the kitchen, office, etc to accommodate he families and business needs. Having all those bedrooms and baths makes no ssense. Also as Cody's only legal wife, Cody might have a legal half interest in Mary's estate. So Cody might be supporting this without stating the true reason. How will they afford thesehouses when the show is canceled?

    6. I agree. Meri doesn't really want another child. She is only thinking about it because in the last year all the other women have been on about her having the same size house but only one child. Also I think she is gearing up for empty nest syndrome and that got her thinking. Add in that Robyn offered and now she is stuck with actually having to say No to Kody.

When she said she wouldn't know what to do if her first and only IVF took just screamed she wants it to fail. She wants a reason to not have a child

  16. Why in the world would these builders meet with them other than to jump on the band wagon of free publicity, just like Mona.

    Meri, Meri, Meri...wet bar really?
Yes Meri, a wet bar and an extra deck "IS" equal to 7 small children.

"If these are the only children I'm going to have, then I want them to have the space so they feel comfortable"...really? Really? Even you had a hard time choking that one out. Your material needs are so transparent to everyone.

    Remember your glib statement...
"I'm sorry Janelle; I took something you thought was yours"

Guess what, in the past the majority of the income you spent WAS Janelle earnings!

It's so easy to spend someone else's hard earned money.

Maybe get a job and learn what it feels like to work so hard that you consider every pennies purchase.

Being queen of the empty nest does not make you entitled.

If I had only one child and constantly complained it wasn't enough, I would think that those statements might affect my only child's outlook. How sad that your daughter worries about your infertility.

Meri get a grip, put down the mock ravioli and get a job.

You know the only way to get over grief and loss is to do something for another. Volunteer at a school, help a child learn to read or organize a fund raiser for any cause. Just stop dwelling on what you don't have and enjoy what you do have, Mariah.

    Yuck...what an existence.

  17. With twenty-two family members these people need to become more responsible. When they lived in one home they didn't need four of every kitcen item, such as blenders, etc. And one electric bill would be cheaper than four in most cases. Deciding to leave a house you're buying and to rent four large homes in an economically depressed area is foolish. If they were smart with their money they would have kept their expenses the same when TLC came along. They could have possibly already paid off their Utah home. Imagine what better quality of life they would have had they stayed in their home and used all TLC income to pay off the home. Between TLC paying them, their involvment with shady pyramid scheme and a jewelry web site these people should be on panic mode. They should be working very hard to ensure their family is financially fit. I think TLC coming into their lives only magnified who they already were. They dont like to work. They have an extreme sense of entitlement. They're very poor planners. Uprooting your seventeen children because you've always wanted to live in Vegas is shockingly selfish. School and friendships mean everything to children. All Kody cares about is what Kody wants. If Kody wants to move to Nv then that's what the wives and children will have to do. Nobody else has a voice. All Kody does is put this dumb, confused look on his face and pretend he is listening when his wives talk. He is a selfish husband and an absent father. He can not take care of the kids he already has yet he is determined to have more children. I don't think there is anything more selfish than that. I say they can't take care of thr kids because it was two years or less since they relied on taxpayers to feed their children. You have to be living in poverty to qualify for food stamps. What are they doing now to ensure they won't rely on taxpayers to feed their kids again? It seems to be nothing. In fact I wouldn't be at all surprised if the TLC checks go to Kody. That way the wives, except Meri would still qualify for food stamps. I think TLC is getting desperate to come up with anything interesting in the Browns. The novelty of the plural marriage has long worn off. And who really cares if they buy a house? How is that a storyline? Kody running around someone elses future homes lot draggin ballons behind him. WTF. I thnk TLC needs to end this. The sooner the better. A

And most importantly, isn't it against their religion to drink, isn't that the point of a wetbar? Meri is coming off as extremely unlikable here. You can see that all of the wives, including Christine and Robyn (even though she would never admit it) do not think Meri needs such a big house. At this point, I don't even care if they get the ridiculous houses anymore. I did not find this story line interesting when they started it last season, and I totally over it now. If this is what this season is about I won't be watching. -Freya

So Kody running around someone elses future homes lot with ballons trailing behind really makes him look like a child. And Sobbin Robyn stating how she will make sure they get homes also makes her look child like. Just because you want something it does not mean you will get it. With bad credit, no steady jobs between them and a history of instability (moving abruptly, quitting jobs abruptly, recent history of using welfare) WHO would give them permission to finance a home? I bet the terms they werre approved for required 50% down @ 15+% interest. That's nothing to cry tears of joy over! LOL If they had any brains they would...

    1.)Stop having kids
    2.)Stop adding wives
    3.)Move back to Utah
    4.)Stop using credit cards
5.)Learn to buy used & only essentials
6.)Pay any money TLC gives them to their Utah mortgage
7.)Once their mortgage is paid off, put the amount they paid on the mortgage into retirement accounts

But they won't. They will do the opposite. And we will all be saying, "we told ya so!" I really wish they would make better decisions. I don't like them anymore but I wish them no ill will. They're just not smart enough to see the errors in their way.

  20. Meri is 45 years old. Having a baby and starting over is a big deal. At age 45 a woman has a 1:30 risk of having a child with downs syndrome. And if she had her eggs harvested & did IVF she would have to pay a lot and may not be ready now, it can take a few rounds, so she could be nearly fifty by the time it happens and the risk is then 1:12. She really might regret starting over. Meri seems to really enjoy only have a single child regardless of her tears over not having more. That ship has sailed and she
knows it. At one time she would've wanted more kids. But she is going to be a grandmother within the next five or so years. Kody said he WILL have more kids to her when she was crying about being unsure. Zomg. She must have been so put off by that. Oh you might not use my womb but you "will" be using someone elses. Sick.

When they "ran" to Vegas Meri was busy buying nice things for her house while the former breadwinner Janelle was worried about feeding her kids...so sad. Kody, are you that afraid of Meri that her desires come before your children??? 4. The show is a job, but not a career. They could be canceled tomorrow. Not a consistent income that I would take out four, $450,000 mortgages on. They needed to be perusing a stable career these last few years so when the show abruptly ends ( like all shows do) they will be able to provide a stable environment for their children. I would consider the show money bonus money, not money to base a 30 year mortgage on. Yes, my husband could lose his job tomorrow also but he could reasonable expect to find a new job making the same amount of money. The browns could not. That is why I do not consider the show a real job.

I mean really, Robyn is young enough to pop kids every year, if Meri lets them have their way, they will have her living in a 2 bedroom cottage with a small bathroom and kitchen; which will then be downgraded to a 1 bedroom when Mariah leaves!

that is polygamy for you, every "sisterwife" have to think for her & her kids! while the husband is a permanent visitor in his different famillies!

    1. Hah. I was thinking the same exact thing. Without Meri they wouldn't be maried to Kody. This life they have would not have existed. Kody would not have maried Janelle without Meri having allowed it. And Christine clearly said she never wanted to be the second wife. So even if Kody left Meri and married Janelle there would not have been Christine because she wouldn't be a second wife.

And Meri gets the same amount from the producers as all the other wives. Heck she mint even get more as she is the only one legally maried to the man. Not to mention that she legally owns half of anything Kody makes. The other women do not. They are only entitled to what Kody and Meri as his legal wife allows them to have.

So they really need to think about that when they complains about what Meri gets in this relationship.

  25. Just a quick comment. I saw an article on "The Clicker" last week where Meri talked about whether or not she would have another baby. They said the story was a "Clicker Exclusive." 26. I am not sure what I think about Meri getting a big house. On one hand, she is punishing the whole family like it is somehow their cross to bear that she didn't get to have 8 kids like she wanted. On the other hand, if they are all getting income from the show, etc. equally, then why should Meri not get her full share?

I think Meri looks at it based on her emotional needs, and Janelle (since she is the finance person) looks at if from the families financial needs. Which begs the question, why the hell should they be considering an expensive baby making crusade for Meri after all of these years. I don't personally think she really wants to have a newborn at this point in her life. But I do think she is enjoying the attention she is getting right now.

On another note...they really should be paying more attention to how overweight they are getting. I am appalled at how unhealthy even some of the kids are looking.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think Meri should get her full share. I think the income the family is receiving for the show should be divided equally by family member, not by wife. Each family member, adult or child, should get an equal share. Each wife should be responsible for her biological children's earnings, and a portion of those earnings should be going into savings accounts set up for each child. This would ensure each child had a college/ trade school fund, and truly be an equal division of the assets.

      Delete
  27. "Full share"?? Feeding, clothing, and educating all these kids should trump Meri's demands for a big house to make up for (yeah, right) what she didn't have. If they expect us to believe the onebighappyfamily schtick, they need to act like one. That would not include the unattractive queen bee getting the lion's share of the goods. Better food, better furniture, better TREATMENT by the man child for this despicable woman negates everything they're trying to sell.

    ReplyDelete
  28. What Meri should really be thinking about is how is she going to fund her retirement at this point. She is 45 and her only child is headed to college. Assuming her health holds up, she only has 20 years +/- to build up a retirement fund.

Maybe I am weird, but THAT is the topic that interests me the most.

This family has been so focused on producing children, I find myself wondering if they ever contemplate their own aging in life.

If they were really working as a team, Meri would be out busting her butt now (and would have been for several years now), bringing home a paycheck and building up a savings/retirement account.

If anything on this show is true, they are utterly foolish, foolish, short-sighted, entitled people. I really feel for their children and can completely understand why Logan wanted to get the heck out of there.

  29. Personally I wonder how Meri sleeps at night after how AWFUL she comes off on the show. She reeks of selfishness and should not be a Sister Wife with the values she holds. 38. I believe that Meri is passive-aggressive. She is still angry with Kody for bringing home 3 more "wives". The way she acts out is to demand stuff to establish her position in the family. I think Kody pursuing Robyn's sister is a definite possibility and might be the only thing that can save this show.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I watched the video at work, but without the benefit of sound. However, it seemed to follow a very defined "Sister Wives" pattern that I've come to count on:

Kody begins by spouting off a "Kody-ism" about how he needs everyone together and the only way to do this is by purchasing four mansions with invisible money.

Christine says something breezy to diffuse the tension, which is thicker than peanut-butter on Fritos.

Janelle, with hatred in her eyes, says something completely logical.

Cut to Meri, whose face is one of pure, unabashed anguish. From reading the above comments, I assume this is due to the lack of wet-bar in her future.

Meri starts to cry. Approximately 7 seconds later, Robyn also starts to cry.

Kody sits in the middle wearing his very best "duhhhhhhhhhh" face.

  40. I just don't get this. They left Utah because they were all basically living together in one big house and Utah was after them legally.
So they move to Nevada and whine that they all have to live in seperate houses and are determined to get the family back together. Koty even said he wanted all his kids under one roof.
So why are they buying four seperate houses? Why not build one big one like they lived in back in Utah? Isn't that what they've all been whining they wanted...to get the family back together? I mean really they could have done this much in Utah....lived in four seperate houses and it would have stopped the legal actions Utah wanted to take against them. Seems cruel they uprooted those children all for what they could have just done in Utah....buy and live in four seperate houses. They make no sense.

  41. You know at her age especially, Meri must be 100% certain that she wants to embark on in vitro....and how they plan to pay for it is beyond me....but she has been on the fence about this for so long I think she has her answer. Kody and Mariah are selfish, not understanding what is so hard about the decision...maybe Kody would like to put up with hormone shots in his ass every day, mood swings, other side effects and risks to health exp as an older person....and if Meri wants more kids so badly why are they not talking about adoption??? There are so many kids out there already who need homes including sibling groups who are very hard to place...she can justify her big house then....and perhaps her wet bar too. Seriously, its a no brainer.

  42. My take is this. Kody treats Meri & Robyn VERY differently than Christine & Meri. Notice when Janelle cried at Logan's graduation, Kody did nothing. Yet, when MERI cried, he hugged & comforted her. Meri is selfish. Plain and simple. She does not need a 5bdrm house. However, once again, Kody cannot tell her no. It's just sad. 46. Lorraine says:

wet bar or no wet bar, every woman dreams about having a mansion, zillions of dollars in her accounts, children, loving husband........ the last 2 are paramount to her happiness

what is a woman to do when she has to share her husband? when she is have less to none kids than her co-wives? when money is scarce? when she is also being denied her dream house?

    look at it this way:

    1. Janelle, Christine's viewpoint is that they have kids and therefore should be the ones vying for bigger houses - they want their mansions and they feel the earned it as they bore 6 kids(entitlement)!

    2. Meri's viewpoint is that this is her husband! she married him when he had next to nothing! when the other sister-wives joined - she had the home setup. she did the foundation, had put up with all the wives and their kids, all the ridicule that she is barren(not forgetting how mean women are to each other!) - therefore she feels she not only deserve her mansion but also an extra wet bar(entitlement)

    3. Robyn's viewpoint is that she is the love of Kody(according to her), she just bore him a son for goodness's sake! Not forgetting she has also promised to "help" Meri with a child if she so desired! and very importatntly, she is still young and can bore him even more kids!!! therefore she must get her own mansion(entitlement)

Now I wonder what Kody feels he is entitled to????

all of you bashing Meri only are very unfair! to even call her spoiled is the biggest LIE I have ever heard???

spoiled? a woman who sees her man on a schedule? have to put up with 3 whinny women, have to hear all how much their kids need this and that? not forgetting that money is tight for all family members!

Anyone else notice how manipulative she is..when Kody asked her about wanting more children she promised that she would give him an answer after getting into the homes??? Read between the lines..she will decide after she gets the house she wants!!! She is just as sneaky as Robyn!! Plus, why should Robyn get a fair share either?? Those kids aren't even Kody's!! 48. It seems obvious to me that Meri doesn't want anymore children. She wouldn't take this long and be under so much anguish to make the decision if that is her one desire in life. They never bat an eye about dropping thousands on infertiity so that's not an issue. And they can still buy all of these expensive brand new homes with upgrades, new furniture and have you noticed new cars? I agree, I'm sick of Mary whining and crying for her 'equal share'. The other wives just have more bedrooms to clean. It is not extra personal space for the other women, there are teenagers and kids piled in there! Robin is just plain nauseating. Kody deserves Meri and Robin. Janelle and Christine should move on.

  50. It is amazing that this family would divide their house resources by # of wives. Janelle and Christine each have six children. Robyn has four. Meri has one. What in the world does Meri need with FIVE bedrooms ? Especially since her daughter who has aspirations of medical school will be going off to college soon? Meri says she "likes to entertain" - yes, that is why she needs five bedrooms and a "hobby room" --- she likes to entertain? Then she should have a little three bedroom home with a huge great room for that. These family resources should be divided by need - not by wife. Janelle and Christine need larger homes, then Robyn (although Robyn is the most likely to bear Kody more children), but Meri does not need as big a home as the others. It is very self-absorbed of Meri to insist she get the large house and not be judged for it. Everybody's resources in that family will go to everybody's house for everybody's children; she should be looking at the needs of the children of her three sister wives - not HER wants.

  54. I think Meri and Robyn should share a house. I'm certain the home builders can build a master up and one down. It makes much more sense than Meri having a 5 bedroom home just for her. And she and Robyn are so close that sharing shouldn't be such a big deal. That makes much more sense than buying houses they clearly won't be able to afford when the show is cancelled. But I can understand Meri wanting the house - should she decide to leave Kody for any reason, she may be able to get a job (plus spousal support) to afford the place or Kody could be court ordered to pay for it (after all she is his only legal wife...) Though if she wants any more money, she should probably consider having that 2nd baby. That'll get her 18 years of child support...
All that said - frankly minus the sharing husband part - having women you trust as sister moms would be a wonderful thing! It really does take a village.
