Cult Leader Warren Jeffs Tells Followers To Throw Away Children’s Toys And Stop Having Sex With Wives

By Alexis Tereszcuk - Radar Senior Reporter

Even though he is serving a life sentence for child rape, cult leader Warren Jeffs is still controlling his followers from behind bars.

The leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has reportedly directed his cult member to continue following his directives in bizarre ways, ordering cult members that men cannot have sex with their wives, that parents must throw away their children’s toys and that teenage girls are not allowed to have cellphones.

He’s written a new book based on “revelations from God” and has sent copies to the members of his breakaway Mormon sect from the Texas prison where he is serving his life sentence.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, cult members are still following the word of their imprisoned leader, as toys like bikes, trampolines and all-terrain vehicles are being dumped by the roadside near FLDS bases in Colorado City, Arizona, and Hildale, Utah.

Jeffs lived at the Colorado City compound which now has about 5,000 residents.  He was convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls he took as “spiritual brides” when they were 12 and 14 years old.

Hey! If he can't have any....NOBODY is getting any or having any fun!
What a freaking monster! They could not even release what he says or allow contact with the outside world.

Mounties to investigate FLDS child brides in Utah

Canadian Royal Mounted Police have a list of 30 girls who may have been abused or trafficked for sex by members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and plan to visit Utah and Texas to investigate.

The girls range in age from 12 to 17, said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk, a spokesman for the Mounties. The planned U.S. trips were not spurred by the trial of FLDS president and prophet Warren Jeffs, Moskaluk said.

Rather, the trips are related to an ongoing inquiry in British Columbia about polygamy there, Moskaluk said.

However, the Mounties have been cooperating with Texas law enforcement, which found marriage records inside the Yearning for Zion Ranch in Eldorado during a 2008 raid.

“We were provided with a list of 30 possible victims,” Moskaluk said.

Moskaluk said the Mounties are not yet ready to name any suspects, but possible offenses include the sexual assault of girls on Canadian soil or transporting girls out of Canada for the purposes of sex elsewhere.

The FLDS has an enclave in Bountiful, British Columbia.

At Jeffs’ trial, prosecutors said he married two 12-year-olds from Canada on the same day in December 2005.

Mounties have investigated allegations of FLDS sex abuse in the past, but victims have been reluctant to cooperate, Moskaluk said.

“Hopefully, these people realize we are just trying to assist,” he added.

FLDS - Texas - What about parents?

As I have read the stories of child sexual abuse perpetrated by Warren Jeffs at the FLDS compound in Texas, I am confronted by one stark detail: Why are the parents of the young victims not being prosecuted as an accessory to the crimes that Jeffs now stands convicted of? Certainly the parents knew of and were willing participants to these crimes! Why is the Texas attorney general apparently giving the parents a free pass?  Let's Discuss

Harsh rules, sex assault described inside Jeffs' sect

Nephew testifies of settlement with uncle

SAN ANGELO, Texas -- A polygamist sect leader convicted of sexually assaulting two underage girls ruled his followers with a heavy hand, banning parades, dancing, Sports Illustrated magazine and even the color red, a sect member testified Saturday at his sentencing.

Warren Jeffs, 55, is the ecclesiastical head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which believes polygamy brings exaltation in heaven. More than 10,000 followers consider him God's spokesman on Earth. A jury convicted him Thursday of sexually assaulting two underage girls he took as brides and could sentence him to up to life in prison.

In the sentencing phase of the trial, prosecutors have been trying to show that Jeffs ruled the FLDS with a far heavier and crueler hand than his father, whom Jeffs succeeded in 2002. Ezra Draper, who was raised in the sect, returned to the witness stand and testified that while Rulon Jeffs allowed fun activities such as parades and dances, his son put a stop to them after he rose to power.

Also Saturday, a nephew of Jeffs told the jury that his uncle sexually abused him as a young boy.  Brent Jeffs testified that his uncle sodomized him when he was 5 years old. Warren Jeffs never was charged with sexually assaulting his nephew, but Brent Jeffs says he and his uncle reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed in 2003. The settlement involved some land.

                                           EZRA DRAPER

Draper recounted how Jeffs admonished him when he was 14 for liking a girl. Draper said Jeffs tapped his crotch with a yardstick and said it was better for him to lose one part of his body than risk all of it suffering in eternal damnation.
"I felt that this man was telling me to cut off my penis," Draper said.

He testified that Jeffs threw out copies of Sports Illustrated and Car and Driver found in the boys' bedrooms. Books that featured talking animals were banned because Jeffs considered it teaching lies. Even the color red was prohibited, Draper said.

The charges against Jeffs stemmed from a 2008 police raid on a remote compound in west Texas. The call that led to the raid turned out to be a hoax, but while on the property, officers saw underage girls who were clearly pregnant. During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Jeffs fathered a child with one victim when she was 15. They played an audiotape of what they said was him sexually assaulting the other victim when she was 12.

Jeffs represented himself during the trial, but walked out of his sentencing in protest Friday. He has been held in another room in the courthouse and can return to the hearing whenever he wishes. He was not in the courtroom Saturday. District Judge Barbara Walther ordered Jeffs' stand-by counsel to represent him, but having been sidelined by Jeffs for the last two weeks, attorney Deric Walpole struggled Saturday to keep up with witnesses and evidence he was seeing for the first time. At one point, Walpole jumped from his chair to object while a former FLDS member testified. He asked Walther to have the jury leave the courtroom. "I have no idea what that man is getting ready to say," Walpole said.

Walther overruled the objection. Jeffs burned through a slate of seven high-powered attorneys, including Walpole, in the six months before he decided to represent himself, and Walther has said he did so in an effort to manipulate the court and stall the case against him.  Walpole declined to say whether he'll call witnesses during the sentencing phase. He has indicated that his plea for leniency will focus on Jeffs being a product of his environment and a culture that hasn't changed for centuries.

Warren Jeffs sentenced to life plus 20 years in prison as picture emerges of 50 brides, bred to worship the polygamous 'prophet'

Standing neatly side by side, 50 young girls pose as if for a school yearbook, their smiles every bit as uniform as their pastel outfits and tightly quaffed hairdos.  Their innocent enthusiasm is focused on one goal alone - worshiping the man framed behind them, who has cruelly bred them for manipulation.  As a Texas jury sentenced Jeffs to life plus 20 years in prison for his crimes as their church leader, extraordinary pictures have emerged of the wives of the notorious polygamist, offering insight into the twisted world of subjugation with which he surrounded himself.

Jeffs, the 55-year-old self-proclaimed prophet and leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was last week convicted of two counts of sexually assaulting a child - one 12 and one 14-year-old.
Today, after brief deliberations, the jury at court in Texas sentenced him to the maximum possible time behind bars for his crimes.
Jeffs's wives were both the victims of his abuse and the accomplices, subjected to a cruel world of worship and sexual abuse, while also proving their worth to their leader by holding down their peers while they were assaulted.

Manipulated: This girl was 15 when she had a baby with warren Jeffs
He was on the FBI's Most Wanted list but had evaded arrest for years before his capture in 2006, surrounding himself with doting believers and underage wives who he bred to service his sexual desires.
Of his 78 wives, 29 are said to have been former stepmothers - having previously serviced Rulon Jeffs, Warren Jeffs's father and predecessor as the church's ecclesiastical leader.
56 of the girls were each others sisters and 24 were under the age of 17.
Over the course of the trial, the jury in Texas has heard a series of depraved insights into the world of the dictatorial leader of a polygamist sect, which has more than 10,000 members worldwide.
One of Jeffs's nephews testified that he was raped by the supposed prophet when he was just five-years-old. He said Jeffs instructed him to keep the assault secret because it is 'between you, me and god'.
A niece also testified about an incident which occurred when she was aged seven and other witnesses spoke out, revealing a world of manipulation and control, where Jeffs banned followers from 'parades, dances, music, and even the color red'.
Perhaps most shocking of all has been the revelation that some of the young wives assisted the pedophile with his sexual assaults.
In a confused world where they were brainwashed to service the demands of their leader, however abusive, three of Jeffs’s wives were said in court to have held down the 12-year-old victim while Jeffs raped her.
One of the girls bound the child's arms and legs to stop her moving, tapes seized from the compound where they lived in Eldorado, Texas, revealed.
It is unclear whether the women will be prosecuted for their roles in the abuse. Many argue their submission was borne out of a deeply engrained fear of Jeffs, who took over the community in 1998 from his father, who had raised him to believe the women were rightfully his to abuse as a birthright.
As sect leader, Jeffs 'documented everything he did, keeping track of every marriage he performed, every young woman he wed, even recording his intimate moments.'
During a 2008 raid, these recordings, which helped secure his conviction, were seized by authorities. The explicit tapes, when played in court, caused shocked jurors to break down in tears.
One was 'a 20 minute audiotape that began and ended with a man saying a prayer' before sexually assaulting the 12-year-old in front of three other of his wives, according to prosecutors.
The audiotape from 2004 was played in court  before another, made within hours of the first, in which prosecutors say Jeffs can be heard having sex with all the girls at the same time.
In one tape, he is heard telling the girls they 'need to be excited'. Jurors also heard him tell the girls that if they refused to please him in what he dubbed the 'heavenly sessions', they would be 'rejected by God'.
In a cruel irony, the girls were encouraged by Jeffs by being told their compliance would help atone for the sins of their community.
Other shocking photographs have also emerged, including ones showing Jeffs holding and passionately kissing an underage female church member and one revealing a bed where ritual sex sessions were carried out in front of a church audience.
State witness Rebecca Musser - a former FLDS member who was married as a young girl to Jeffs' father - told the court she had received training about how beds in the temple were to be used in sexual rituals before it was built.
Miss Musser said beds inside the temple were arranged so that witnesses could see the abuse and that a special seat was placed for someone to record the sexual acts.
Jurors weep as court hears twisted tape of sexual instructions Warren Jeffs gave child brides threatening that God would 'reject them' before having sex by baptism pool
  • Court hears he was involved in 550 bigamous marriages including 67 that involved under-age girls
  • Horrific tape of Jeffs instructing child brides how to please him sexually played
  • Tells them God will reject them if they refuse to have sex with them
  • Comes after Jeffs' nephew told jurors he was abused by his uncle aged five
  • Shocking pictures also showed Jeffs kissing two child brides
  • Jeffs walked out of court in protest demanding to be set free after sentencing

Warren Jeffs gets life in prison for sex with underage girls .

San Angelo, Texas • A jury on Tuesday sentenced polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs to life in prison for having sex with underage girls.
Jurors deliberated for 40 minutes before ordering Jeffs to serve life in prison on one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and 20 years in prison on one count of sexual assault of a child. They also determined Jeffs must pay a $10,000 fine.
In a closing statement given Tuesday morning, prosecutor Eric Nichols told the jury the 55-year-old Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints leader was a man who "perverted a religion to his own ends" and treated women and children not as human beings but as "property for sexual gratification and child bearing."
"Evidence is this case shows this is not the prosecution of a people, this is a prosecution to protect a people," Nichols said.
Prosecutors rested their case against Jeffs in the sentencing phase of his trial on Monday. Jurors last week convicted Jeffs in connection with two plural marriages to girls ages 12 and 15.
During the sentencing phase, prosecutors presented evidence of other so-called bad acts committed by Jeffs. Jurors were told Jeffs took a total of 78 plural wives, including 12 girls he wed at age 16 and another 12 he married at age 15 or younger, according to evidence and testimony presented in court Monday.
Jurors heard several audio recordings of what prosecutors said was Jeffs giving sexual instruction to underage wives and even having intercourse in a baptismal font inside a temple at the sect’s Yearning for Zion Ranch in Eldorado.
Jeffs represented himself during the guilt or innocence phase of his trial and chose not to attend his sentencing hearings. After prosecutors rested their sentencing case against Jeffs on Monday, new Jeffs defense lawyer, Jed Silverman, of Houston, declined to call any witnesses.

DR. DREW - Why Do Women Stay in Polygamist Sects?

We are going to catch up on our Dr. Drew, then stick with him daily. Thought and Comments Below! We sincerely want to hear from former or current FLDS women. Use Anonymous to feel comfortable if you wish.
IF YOU HAVE TO PICK AND CHOOSE, WATCH THESE AND THE FLICKS BELOW ON BILL MAHER AND WARREN JEFFS TRIAL TAPE.
Some background on the ladies you'll see.
CATHY JO NICHOLSON - was raised in a polygamous household where Warren Jeffs was her school teacher.  She eventually escaped that life.  Cathy Jo is with is here today for a discussion of the FLDS church.  R – According to the affidavit investigators at the Eldorado, Texas compound observed a practice in which  female children of child bearing age (13 or 14 years of age) are “spiritually married to a male adult member of the church.”  As a former member is this surprising to you?  “No, not at all, at least not in recent years.  Since Warren took over for his father this became a more prevalent practice.  Meryl Jessop has taken the reins while Warren is in jail.  Meryl became notorious for giving his very young beautiful daughters up to the prophets.  I know of several of his daughters who were given to Rulon Jeffs when he was on his death bed.  This was done to supposedly seal his place in heaven and then these women were inherited by Warren Jeffs when his father passed the monarchy to him.”  R – Also according to this affidavit children were denied food and forced to sit inside closed closets as punishment.  When you were a member of the FLDS does this sound like his brand of discipline?  “Definitely – at that time he (Jeffs) was not the prophet but he did send down his decree of ‘today we fast and also tomorrow.’  I remember thinking to myself it’s so much easier after the third day to ignore your hunger.  He would beat the boys and close the girls in.  This did not go on in my private home but at school.  We needed to mind the headmaster (Warren Jeffs).  The fasting took place throughout the community.”  R – The raid was the result of a 16 year old girl’s call to a family violence shelter.  When she called she used someone else’s cell phone and whispered.  FLDS leaders told her that if she left or ran away she would be found and locked up.  R- When you escaped what did you think would happen to you?  “I believe they still tell those young women ‘they are free to leave but you’ll never see us again or have any support from us.’  “You’re not free to go when you have no resources, or outside information which you can study or become familiar with.”  There are virtual walls up, ‘yes you can step across the border and be free (which is what I did) but those virtual walls and threats of hell and eternal damnation are very strong and scary to these women.”  I’m so grateful to Texas and Utah for convicting Warren Jeffs and the young Wall girl who stepped forward and now this young 16 year old girl who has yet to be determined.  I’m so grateful that Texas has undertaken this huge task and done it so diplomatically so far.  My sister is in Colorado City…  I have family members whose whereabouts are unknown.  I only cry out if anybody knows of the Nicholson family – sisters and brothers.”

LAURIE ALLEN - was born into the infamous and violent LeBaron polygamous sect. Her uncle Ervil LeBaron killed 28 people, and became known as the Mormon Manson. Her cousin Jacqueline Tarsa LeBaron is on the FBI's Most Wanted list. When she was eight, a polygamist kidnapped Laurie from Chihuahua, got in some trouble with the law, and eventually fled to Central America, keeping her as his interpreter. Laurie fought off the religious indoctrination, escaped at age sixteen, and found passage back to the United States. Fluent in Spanish and dedicated to freedom and human rights, she earned a college degree and went on to film school. BANKING ON HEAVEN exposes a cult similar to the one that nearly absorbed her when she was very young and vulnerable. Now Laurie Allen is a filmmaker with a vision and a goal. Her background makes her the one filmmaker who could write and  produce BANKING ON HEAVEN, a documentary about the abuse and corruption inherent in America’s polygamous sects.

Jeffs fathered baby with 15-year-old, DNA allegedly shows

San Angelo, Texas • In the midst of Warren Jeffs’ objections and purported proclamations from God, a DNA expert testified Monday that the 55-year-old leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints church almost certainly fathered a child with a 15-year-old plural wife.

Amy Smuts, a DNA lab tech at the University of North Texas Laboratory, testified there is a 99.99996 percent probability that Jeffs is the father of the child in question. Jeffs is also accused of having sex with a 12-year-old child bride.

There has been no indication that either alleged victim will testify during Jeffs’ West Texas jury trial. But prosecutors say they have plenty of other evidence, including an audio recording of Jeffs having sex with the 12-year-old.

Monday’s session, the sixth day of Jeffs’ child sex-abuse trial, began with the defendant filing a motion — purportedly dictated to him by God — calling for District Judge Barbara Walther’s removal from the case. "I am to now recuse you from this case," the "Revelation of the Lord Given to President Warren S. Jeffs" states. "Now sign order [sic] to recuse thyself; and allow this proceeding to stop ... " The revelation/recusal motion, which Jeffs says came to him on Sunday, ends with, "I, the Lord, have spoken. Amen."

Jeffs — who last week fired his attorneys and is representing himself — claims in the motion that Walther has a personal bias against him and members of the FLDS. He also claims God has labeled Walther a person of "evil intent." Attached to the motion is a transcript of Jeffs’ revelation from last week, which says God has undertaken Walther’s impending demise.
"Let also Barbara Walthers [sic] be of a humbling to know I have sent a crippling disease upon her which shall take her life soon," the revelation states. Walther contracted polio when she was 15 months old and still wears a brace and strides with a limp.
The recusal motion caused a one-hour halt in the trial, which resumed after a visiting judge denied Jeffs’ claim that Walther is biased against the FLDS Church.
Jeffs is charged with one count each of sexual assault of a child and aggravated sexual assault of a child. The charges stem from a massive raid on the group’s remote Yearning for Zion Ranch in Eldorado, Texas, three years ago. More than 400 children were taken into protective custody, though they were later returned to their parents.
