UPDATE!! I Scour the Internet: The Road Trip to Disneyland Edition 8/25/12

Well, summer is almost over and still no word when Sister Wives will be returning to our TV sets. We do know that a lot of filming has been going on -- primarily in Illinois and California.

And this group apparently has taken yet another road trip to the happiest place on earth, outside of Las Vegas, of course. The Browns must own stock in Disneyland. If they don't, they should because it seems they drive down to Anaheim at least once a month to visit Mickey, Minnie,  Goofy and the assorted Disney Princesses.

But this last trip was totally different. Who would've thunk that Kody would actually bring along ALL his wives and families on this Disneyland trip.

Can you just imagine Kody checking into the hotel?

Front Desk: May I help you?
Kody Brown: Yes, I need rooms. (running hand through hair) Haha, I need a LOT of rooms!
Front Desk: Really, do you have a reservation?
Kody Brown: Look, I don't have time for small talk...don't you know who I am? (takes off sunglasses and strategically places them on top of his head to camouflage the ever growing bald spot in front)
Front Desk: Ah....actually no. What name is your reservation under?
Kody Brown: Look, I have a tv show...I have 4 wives and 17 children!
Front Desk: Oh yeah...hmmm...Sorry Mr Duggar. I don't have a reservation under your name.

Now for some reason, there's a gag order on fans reporting the Browns' whereabouts, especially if there are cameras in tow,  on their offical Facebook fanpages -- you know,  the one you have to be accepted as a friend in order to read. The funny thing is, if you follow the adult Browns and their female teens' twits on Twitter, you can pretty much figure out where in the world the Brown's are located, and with whom. Sometimes it seems like they make such a big deal over nothing. I mean, who do they think they are, Countess LuAnn?

And why has the wives' presence  all but disappeared from the Facebook fanpage for those "friends only"? The admins don't even mention the Sunday night chats with the Sister Wives anymore. Even the My Sister Wife's Closet Facebook page is like a ghost town. Those hardcore fans don't give up though - they still post wanting to know when the show's coming back, or if new merchandise will be stocked in the online store soon, but usually the response from the Browns is one of no response. The silence is deafening.

One sure way to get a Brown response is to tweet them that you want to join their "management" team or want to know where their green koolaid can be purchased. Well, the Browns' still need to make a buck in order to afford those McMansions.

So, in lieu of having an actual conversation with the Browns, I decided to conduct a virtual interview.

Let's see what the Browns' have been up to, shall we?

Aspyn, I've noticed that you are an extreme fan of Disneyland. What makes Disneyland different from, let's say, Universal Studios?

Really? But Universal Studios has fantastic attractions too, right?

I'm sure the execs at Universal Studios will be happy to hear that. Now, is this your first or second day here at Disneyland...

So sorry about your sunburn. Maybe Mariah can pick something up at Walmart to help you feel better...wait, Mariah's calling my cell right now!

Hey Mariah, what's happening? You've been gone for quite a while now and Aspyn's  in pain!

Wow, that's kind of harsh. You know, I just have to ask, would your mother approve of your calling an Anaheim Walmart  ghetto? This IS Orange County, after all, and I'm sure some people may perceive your statement as snobby. What would your mother say and did you find that special water you wanted...

But you just called a Walmart ghetto. Don't you think maybe your mother would be upset by your assessment?

Whatever, go back to shopping. Just hope the ghetto doesn't rub off on ya. Do you have anything else to add before you hangup?

Must not be in a ghetto. So back to you Aspyn, you seem to be overly excited. What's up?

Do you have any other plans for the day?

Well, good luck to you. Ah...I see your mother Christine has just stepped up. Christine, I know you and your sisterwife Robyn have had a rough time of it, but it seems everything is all right now. I've heard you dressed Truely up as Robyn this morning. Can you describe Truely's outfit to SWB readers and why Robyn inspired you?

And how thoughtful that you remembered to include Sol! Speak of the devil, here's  Meri and Robyn now! Robyn, can you tell me what Meri has around her neck, please.

How nice for sales. Great to see the pendant and the charm holder together so one can tell just how tiny that Sisterwife's Closet Pendant really is...kind of small for $55, wouldn't you say?

Actually, I was hoping for a response from one of the sisterwives. Meri what are thoughts today?

That's nice. Well,  I can't wait to meet up with you all at dinner tonight!

I'm with the Sisterwives at dinner. It's a new restaurant for Meri, so what are you thinking? I hear the shrimp is excellent here!

Well, I think you will make do...say, you've got a really deep tan there, Meri. You are making Robyn look extremely pale in comparison! I know the sun's gone down but...damn!

Whatever you say. Hey Robyn, do you have any last words? How's Sol doing?

Nicely said, Robyn.  Do you have anything else to say? I know how you like to have the last words...

Now was that just your biologicals or your bonus kids, too?

Hey, we haven't heard from Janelle. Janelle do you have any final words to say to SWB readers?

Gee, I can't answer that, but I bet it may have been around the same time Kody decided to tell everyone how disgusting it was watching Christine eating chile cheese nachos.

So on that note, remember, I scour the internet so you don't have to!

Extra !! Extra!!

Here are Mock Stalker's photos from Disneyland!! Many thanks to Mock Stalker!

Enjoy!!

Video: Sister Wives - Health Insurance and Spiritual Unions

This is an old video - apparently filmed before Kody married Robyn, while the family was still living in the Big House in Lehi. Also I think the video was titled wrong...

Just a couple of things - notice the eye roll Mariah gives Maddie when she talks about not becoming a plural wife.

Also, the look Kody gives Janelle when she interrupts HIM. Never mind he interrupted Meri first and Janelle just wanted Meri to finish her thought.

Now that we've had a couple of years watching Kody's high jinks, seems like business as usual for Kody to want to comment on jealousy felt by sisterwives when he is the husband, and can't really understand Meri's perspective. What would he have to offer in the conversation when HIS need to marry more women is the root cause of the jealousy Meri is experiencing? And at least Maddie understands how jealousy is a major dysfunction of her parent's 'lifestyle'.

Jealousy is kryptonite? I'm thinking Kody has kryptonite for brains.

I Scour the Internet: The Friday the Thirteenth Edition 7/13/12

After spending the better part of this morning scanning the internet for Kody and his Krew news, I've decided that today should be 'What's being tweeted on Twitter about Sister Wives' Day. So here are some of the tweets I saw, placed here for your amusement.

Since today is also Friday the 13th, and as I suffer from paraskevidekatriaphobia, I must take my leave now for the safety of my bed.

Enjoy the tweets!

Old news Carleigh. Kody has 17 kids since October last year so get with the program!

There's something so wrong about this...

That would be an improvement for both shows! Come on, TLC and ABC !

Oh Timothy, I don't think you want to look like Kody. At least not on purpose...

Molly, you must have been reading our minds!
Kody and his Pimpettes

Marcel, I totally agree with you...

OUCH!!   TRUTH HURTS!!

He probably charges. Anyway, he's too big time now to pose with just regular people now...
Kody still computing the number of mother in laws he has...
Really Amanda, you KNOW this question is gonna blow Kody's mind totally off this planet! Great question, though...Got the krazy eyes going now....

Now Meri, why would you tweet something like that to Kody? Don't you know this is how rumors get started?
Kody, fine example of rumor control....NOT!!

What's Happening with those Houses?

When we left the Browns, they had just put down a total of $20K in earnest money for lots 6, 7, 8, and 9 in the gated cul-de-sac.

clarkcountynv.gov

In order for you to see the placement of the lots in the gated cul-de-sac, here's the plat map just showing the lot numbers. Notice on the blue map (shown during the earnest money episode) that the Browns' are 'buying' lots 6-9.

So, almost four months after the filming, what's been happening?
Surprisingly, almost nothing. Well, that's if you're looking at lots 6, 7, 8, and 9. If you look at the lots on the opposite end of the cul-de-sac, we see more construction. In fact, we see a LOT of construction going on.

From this snip from the last episode, notice the lack of construction occurring behind the Browns. Now, look at these exclusive photographs provided to the Sister Wives Blog and photographed in late June.

We see a lot of construction - in fact, it appears 2 houses are in the construction phase now, soon to join the original 3 houses from the season's end episode. Below is the view from the main road.

Now, what did Mona the real estate agent say on the show? Oh yes, that one of the houses sold, not one of the lots - one of the houses.  That house apparently was on lot 1, sold on 3/28/12.

So what's happening with lots 6,7,8 and 9 on the opposite end of the gated cul-de-sac? Those are the ones the Browns are holding with their $20K earnest money.

Not much, in fact it looks like the only activity was the placement of some building wood frames, making the lot look like a dump.

This is what we've heard so far from our SWB friends.
  • According to the Browns' children, 2 houses have been built, 2 houses are under construction
  • All the lots (except for lots 1 and 5) are owned by the developer (according to the county assessor)
  • The eight remaining lots are still available for sale (does that mean lot 5 is developer owned too?)

If you ask me (and I know you're just dying to do just that...) I...believe the kids. Two of the houses have been built, two are under construction...perhaps in a different cul-de-sac. Or maybe even this one. And maybe since the family did not qualify for conventional financing, the family's entertainment company has.

Whatever the real truth is, it's  going to make for an interesting continuing storyline, isn't it?

What are your thoughts?

Hannibal-Courier Post: 'Sister Wives' from TV show visit Hannibal

Oh no...Just like Big Love - the Summer Road Trip...
When money is no object - rent  RVs to travel
cross country in style!

Hannibal, MO —

The word spread fast.

By the time the family featured on the “Sister Wives” television show completed their cruise on the Mark Twain riverboat at 5 p.m. Monday afternoon, June 11, a crowd of local people had learned about their visit and had gathered at the Mississippi riverfront.

They were not disappointed, according to Betsy Bouldin of Canton, Mo., who was there to take pictures. She went to see the “Sister Wives” family with Jessica Baker of Palmyra, Mo., her co-worker at a local agency.

The family included Cody Brown and his four wives, along with some of their 17 children.

In addition to taking pictures, Bouldin and Baker had an opportunity to visit with some of the wives, including the first, Meri, and the newest wife, Robin.

The “Sister Wives” are featured on a reality television series broadcast on TLC, which began in 2010. In Hannibal, the series airs on TLC at 8 p.m. and at 10 p.m. on Sunday.

The family was being taped by a TV crew, presumably for an upcoming show. Bouldin and Baker saw three cameramen, including one who went on the riverboat cruise with them. The others were filming as the family group disembarked and headed back to their vehicles.

The wives said they had driven in RVs from their homes in Las Vegas, Nev., in one day and were next going to Nauvoo, Ill. The family had been living in Lehi, Utah, when the TV series began, but they have since moved to Las Vegas.

In Hannibal, they had been invited to attend the special softball game on Monday night between the Hannibal police officers and firefighters, but they had another engagement, Bouldin said.

Review: S04 Ep08 No Place Like Home

Kody showing off his masculinity and a HUGE bald spot!
Let's recap, shall we? In the previous episode, Kody was briefly reunited with his brothers Curtis, Scott and Michael. They rode motorcycles  choppers, shot off some weapons and had dinner at a fancy restaurant. The women folk (you know, those ladies the show is named after) did paint on pottery and made sushi. It was so....uneventful...

And Kody is so....bald!

So what's happening with this episode. Well, for one thing, the four of the elder Brown teens taking a road trip back to the old homestead in Lehi. We'll get to meet another grandmother, Janelle's ex, some uncles and aunts, and oh yes, there's...ALMOST NO KODY BROWN!!!

Yay!! Sounds like episode 8 will be a good one!

After an interminable recap from Kody (of course) about the Brown's run from those pesky law enforcement types just doing their job to serve and protect the law-abiding folks of Lehi,  we watch the teens packing Meri's SUV for the ride back to Utah.

Finally on the road, Logan asks Maddie "What are you going to do [in Utah]...do you have any friends...that will hang out with you?" A confident Maddie answers with "Do I have friends!..." I just LOVE this teen! You know she is going to have some fun!

As they drive up to Grandma Bonnie's house (Meri's mother), we are introduced to new members of the extended Brown family. Grandma Bonnie, who apparently is a great cook. Uncle Marc, Meri's oldest brother. And lots and lots of food being taken out of the oven. "Ah...the food smells so good, Grandma" Hunter says. And all the teens agree...Grandma's are the best cooks!

We then meet Uncle Nathan and Aunt Rebekah ( Meri's sister), but who is that man in the tremendously flowy white shirt? Why, it's none other than Uncle Adam, Meri's brother and Janelle's ex-husband! According to Uncle Adam  "...When they moved to Vegas, I was a little bit shocked...I think for the benefit of the family ...and the safety of the children, it was absolutely the best move they could have ever made..." I was really surprised to see Uncle Adam...I wasn't particularly freaked out by his appearance, but when you try to put your mind around how these kids are related to the adults in their family, well, it can be kind of mind-blowing. But I guess that's par for the course when you're a polygamist.

April Fools!!

Next day, when Mariah refused to answer her phone, Maddie and Logan conspire to play a prank on her. They tell her that Hunter was arrested for curfew violation and underage drinking...and Mariah fell for it!! In fact, Mariah had a bit of a temper tantrum. But just like siblings, Maddie and Logan are laughing so hard they almost hurt themselves! Now this is what we need to see more of - the teenagers acting like teens AND HAVING FUN!

UGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Back in Las Vegas, Robyn holds her first My Sister Wife's Closet meeting. After a few minutes listening to Robyn's pointless banter, it is becoming very apparent that the family is going forward with her business because :

  • It's a half baked idea with no business plan other than Robyn thinks it will be fun
  • There's one page not even half filled with Robyn's 'jewelry designs'...commonly called DOODLES
  • Kody has drunk Robyn's kool-aid, and LIKES IT !!
"That's cute!" says Kody, even though the drawing looks like a child's scratching. "Oh yeah, that's cool" says Christine, apparently still trying to atone for being so mean to Robyn. "This is very trite to me...this is like...oh my gosh, I'm five..." says Janelle, pointing at a particularly childish rendering of the letters SW into a shape.

Leave it to Janelle to call it like she sees it. You can almost hear her thinking to herself 'Kody turned down my Fundamental Fitness business plan for this crap?'

Later in the meeting, Meri and Robyn high five each other when they figure out the SW stands for Strong Women. Which is ironic because its so painfully clear these women are not strong women by any definition. Stupid women, maybe, but not strong women. Oh yeah, My Sister Wife's Closet (whenever it gets online) will really help with that $720,000 down payment!
NOT!!!!
Oh yeah, I want to spend money on this cheap looking stuff!
And to new business partner Brandon, all I can say to you is Run!!! Run like the wind and don't look back!!!

Can we get back to the teenagers, please? Oh no, we can't. It's the obligatory Miniature Golf Time segment.

How can you tell Christine is lying ? Or about to cheat?
Still in Brown LaLaLand, we find the adults taking the children left behind miniature golfing. The most troubling thing we get out of this segment is that Christine is a liar. In fact, according to Kody (who should know a thing or two about lying) she's so good at lying because she actually believes her lies are truths. And she cheats at games, too. Note to Christine: Your reputation is in shreds. Time to get off your high horse and start repairing the damage! NOW!!

Back in Utah, the teens decide to go on a hike and a picnic. Unfortunately, it's 30-40 degrees outside, but, under Logan's lead, they try to have a good time anyway.

Logan learned some valuable life lessons that day. He learned, for instance, that it is always a good idea to check weather forecasts, especially outside temperatures before planning an outing. He also learned it is never a good idea to drop an F-bomb when cameras are recording you. Frankly, as long as he isn't ruining his life doing hard drugs, robbing people or dropping out of school, who cares?

And Christine, for the record, if Janelle understands her child, who are you to say any different? Now, aren't there some sharks you need to protect your own children from, Christine? How about toasters? Or microwaves? AT LEAST LOGAN'S NOT KNOWN FOR BEING A CHEATING LIAR IN HIS FAMILY!

I feel a lot better getting that off my chest!

Back in Lehi, the teens go to the old plyg house. For some reason, we not only see the front of the old house, we also see the back. Notice how each 'apartment' has its own door to the outside in the back of the house. It's also evident that there is plenty of room to expand the old house with another 'wing' for Robyn and her growing brood. Think of how much cheaper it would be!

But the teens know that the chances of their parents returning to the old homestead are next to none. So they tearfully take a look at their old home, and think about the happy memories they will always have.

And so ends episode eight.

Your thoughts?

Review S04 Ep07: Brown Boys Do Vegas

In tonight's episode, we were introduced to three of Kody's nine  siblings. Kody's eldest brother Scott,  is a polygamist with 2 wives and 16 children.

Then there's Curtis, and his wife Erica who do not practice polygamy because he doesn't believe in plural marriage. In fact, he doesn't believe in the Book of Mormon either. He's just a Christian.

Youngest brother Michael is also a polygamist and is due to show up later, sans wife but on the lookout for his second - maybe.

After a few minutes of obligatory hugging, the boys decide to ride their choppers. For some reason, Kody decides to pull out the ugliest looking jacket with a dragon(?) on the back. I guess at one time it was fashionable, but, damn....

The boys hop on their choppers and cautiously ride to the oldest biker bar in Las Vegas. Now, if your religion prohibits drinking alcohol, and even being in a bar is prohibited, then why would you go to a bar? We're talking VEGAS here. Surely there was someplace these guys could have rode their choppers to that wasn't a bar!

Totally ridiculous segment.

NOTE TO PRODUCERS: Who ever had the smart idea to have two guys who don't drink for religious reason go to a bar, they need to be FIRED for a DUMBASS idea.

After Kody looks at one of his many designer watches, he decides it's time to hit the road if they are going to be home when Michael arrives.

Hopping on their choppers, they scurry on home...carefully...

So while the boys were gone, what were the girls up to?

The girls went to...a paint your own pottery store.

NOTE TO PRODUCERS: HELLO! The Browns are not in Utah...they are in VEGAS! Show some real Vegas sights!  Show the boys walking down the strip checking out future wives to take home! Show the girls wandering into a museum, or art store or even a high end clothing boutique and have Christine ask for 12 bright colored baby doll blouses, size small.

Hells bells, doesn't Vegas have a couple of  dozen Victoria Secret Stores? I'm sure Robyn can teach her sister wives a thing or two about keeping the honeymoon alive with a sexy item  from VS!

What a snoozefest!

Anyway, I suppose Robyn can sell that crap they made in her My Sister Wife's Closet online store....whenever it actually goes online that is...
Back on the homefront, Michael finally arrives. Imagine his surprise when the door opens and Robyn's eldest daughter jumps in front of Kody, arms outstretched for a hug!

Haha, Michael deftly sidesteps the youngster to hug his older brother instead.

But wait, Robyn's youngest daughter shows how it's done. You have to distract your prey by pretending to hug the object of your prey's attention.

Haha, apparently Michael has had  experience with this type of attention grabbing. He just ignores the distraction and focuses on his target, Truely.

Guys night out. What a concept, and Kody wants to go shoot off his new 'weapon' he got for Christmas. And when Curtis learns he can rent his own 'weapon' he yells "Vegas is AWESOME!"

Whatever dudes....

After shooting  a gazillion noisy rounds off,  Kody says he just saved himself  "... a thousand dollars on  emotional  therapy with his psychologist. "

I fail to see the humor. And he should sue his psychologist for malpractice.

I chalk this up to a boy's thing...

Back on the home front, we find the women folk cooking up a mess of sushi. And judging from the way this sushi was being cut, it definitely was a mess....OUCH!

Erica's never had sushi before, so being a good sport, she says yes to sampling the Browns version of a California Roll (I think).

NOTE TO PRODUCERS: You missed a comedic opportunity by not spiking Erica's sushi  roll with wasabi. Okay, she did seem like a nice lady. Maybe they should have had an Iron Chef like competition with a secret ingredient like soft codfish roe! And blindfolded Meri and Robyn for a 'taste test'. Yeah, now we're talking!

Where the girls had homemade sushi, the boys sampled the Italian delights at Don Vito's, located in the South Point Hotel.

Of course, Kody had to embarrass his younger brother by noting Michael passed up  a 'sophisticated vinagrette' for ranch dressing on his salad. Hey Kody, Michael wanted ranch, OK? At least he's not a pretentious jackhole like you, know what I mean?

And leave Michael alone about getting a second wife!

The next day, Kody holds his obligatory Guests in the House religious service. With his family seated like in a church, Kody gives his sermon while his oldest brother watches.

Kody seems to have practiced his public speaking, however, he has a long way to go. I still don't understand what the heck he was talking about.

The difference between Scott and Kody was very apparent. Scott looked like an authority figure, while Kody looked like a surfer dude who wandered into the wrong house, at the wrong time.

Checking out the audience, looks like Aspyn was present, but Baby Sol was MIA. After the service was over, Kody quickly bid adieu to his brothers because he and the wives had to hurry over to Christine's house for a meeting with Mona, the real estate lady.

Of course Mona tries to put a positive spin on the castastrophe that occured last week with Tanya the loan officer. She tells them " Keep in mind we were actually rushing this...so we were looking at unconventional financing."  Ever the cock-eyed optimist, Mona tells the Browns that since they are now looking primarily at the 4 vacant lots at the end of the cul-de-sac, it will give the Browns more time to work on their credit scores, improving their chances for finding traditional financing with a lower down payment.
NOTE TO PRODUCER: Send a sample of whatever Mona's been smoking to Cynical Jinx because it takes YEARS to clean up a CBR.

As the episode ends, the Browns have renewed hope of finding their new homes.

Yep, this show has definitely jumped the shark.
