    2. Why is it I keep thinking of kitschy velveteen pictures of clowns crying or those Keene paintings of big-eyed sad waifs popular in the 1960's? I could just see a caricature artist having a blast drawing the 5 Brown Klowns (adults only) on faux velvet or with really exaggerated features. And yes, it could be "iconic". Authentic sterling "pooter" frames surrounding them, of course.

Also thinking a whole line of umbrellas for winter might sell well with Sobbyn's and Meriwitch's images on them. The collectors' editions of the umbrellas could come with mud from the cuddle-sac's unlandscaped backyards or Sobbyn's tears in little clear vials in the handles.

Also... did anybody else kind of throw up in their mouth a little bit when they saw Kodiddly race full speed from house to house rounding up everybody to go to Meri's house for the Q and A? I had a bad flashback to the last episode of a prior season where he ran, arms extended, around the vacant cuddle-sac lot as if he was marking his territory. I guess the TLC producers think they need to be "running" to make the show exciting. Meri was seen running gathering everyone for Christmas too. You would think they would have walkie talkies or use a bull horn in the middle of the street to make announcements.

    3. I suspect that there are enough cell phones/smart phones in that group that messaging would not be a big problem. It just doesn't take up time on a show. Running aruond allows them to spend time that would other wise have to be taken up by something a bit more important.

  5. Did anyone notice (maybe I need to re-watch the episode) that when the question was asked: which moment they were each embarrassed about, Kody basically validated both Robitch and Merwitch with nice comments but didn't say anything kind or validating to Christine or Janelle when they said their moments?

    2. We thank you!!! I always see red at how Kody does not treat each wife even relatively the same.... My hubs treats my BFFs better than Kody treats his wives.

      Delete
    3. Such a great point SisterFoes and I'm with Mister Sister, my husband does the same. I cannot ever imagine him treating even an acquaintance of ours as poorly as Kody treats some of his wives.

I felt Christine had every right to be angry and shouldn't have been embarrassed over leaving the couch ~ apology warranted here Kody! Also when Janelle said about stepping on the scale in front of the world, he should have given her a hug and validated how tough it had to be!

      Delete
    4. Well, we don't call him Kodouche for nothing. His favoritism is practically palpable. Mean Meri is his soulmate and Sobbin' Robyn is his sex toy. Christine is only a brood mare, while Janelle is the lowly breadwinner--or at least she used to be. Has Janelle or Christine ever done anything since they passed their real estate licensing exams?

    1. Guess when that "sterling pewter" turns green you'll know the cookie is moldy. How about Twisted Sister come up with some non-jooolry accessories - kind of branch out even more. There could be earplugs for the kids bearing the SWB seal of approval (good to wear during Kody's church sermonizing); sleeping masks for the wives (for the night they have the honor of Kodpiece jumping their bones - think about it - wouldn't it be easier to fantasize about someone OTHER than Kodouche if you didn't have to see him?) My Little Kody ponytail holders for that greasy mane of his - in sets with Sobbyn Robbyn's hairbands.

  8. I'm pretty sure the post by an 'anonymous' acquaintance of Meri and Robyn's is bulls**t. Someone who is just trying to 'mess around' with others' heads.

I only recently have ever posted on this site, but have seen each season of this show since the beginning and have been reading the site for about 8 months or so.
A comment by 'Anonymous 9-2-13 2:43 am' after the Q&A episode really struck me for its insight, and has changed my mind about how I view this show--because it triggered a change in the way it made me feel in a visceral way.

It went "In his own way, he (Kody) acted very much like an FLDS guy: favors one wife; slams the wife that is in need of support--Christine a princess? I think that would belong to Meri or Robyn; doesn't brag on Janelle's hard work when he had the chance; smarts off to his sons; egomaniac wanting wives to apologize for making him to appear in a bad light; it becomes all about him, his hair, his strength, his look. It is slight in his voice but you can hear the man who will tear you to pieces emotionally if you are not doing what he wants"
    Perfectly articulated. Keen insight.
The imbalance of personal power in this relationship web is astounding. I am repulse yet attracted to this side show. I think I've finally found the intestinal fortitude to not turn on to this drama, if only and most especially to neuter and humble the "star" (in his own mind) of the show by taking away a major source of funding. C'mon everyone, let's speak collectively with our "turn-on the show" vote by not turning on.

  9. I'm not sure if anyone else found this strange (or slightly offensive), but when Kody talked about the birth of HIS two younger children, he pointed at Christine and said "she had her baby" and then at Robyn and said "she had her baby". Aren't these children his as well? I get tired of Kody referring to the kids as belonging to this wife or that wife. Yet, he still has the nerve to say that he'll have as many kids as he wants. For Kody, parenting seems to end at conception, then the kids belong to whatever mom he impregnated.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I heard that as well, and it struck me as odd. He does it quite often. If my husband said that to me about our children it would be pointed out.

      Delete
    2. Sometimes we joke about it at our house when one of the kids has done something -- look what YOUR child has done (of course the opposite is true when one of the kids has done something great -- look what MY child has done!). For Kody they are always someone else's kids. He reminds me of the fun uncle who just comes by to play with the kids. Don't understand why he is so hell-bent on having more. If he is really planning on having more kids, he'll need a newer, younger wife soon.

      Delete
  10. Good observation, he also told his daughter to "keep sweet" when she was having a hard time and a bit of a meltdown. Classic polygamy code. I agree with Bemused Bystander, he really is just a typical FLDS type despite his effort to look like a normal everyday guy.
I wonder what would happen if one of the women decided to separate from KB? Have a period where they started seeing other people, how would that go over? It is hard to see how poorly he treats some of them, I hope that they can figure out a way to step back from him and see what else is out there. Would he punish her by taking away money, would the others suffer from her lack of financial contributions? Would he punish her kids? Would nothing really change? Would be interesting.

    1. Anon 6:51 -- I suspect that the wives who were raised in FLDS communities probably feel that Kody isn't that bad. Patriarchy and sexism are normal and there are probably very few polygamist husbands who truly pay attention to all of their wives (especially those who have more than 3). I think that if the marriage(s) were to dissolve, Christine and Robyn would most certainly find themselves another polygamist marriage. Not sure what Meri would do, but Janelle is the only one I could see just living on her own or being monogamous.

  12. Finally watched the DVR Q and A show. Every single of these adults participates in the double standard attire issue. The girls can't wear what Kody thinks of as immodest attire (bet it covers more than most of us see at a mall), but Kody wears tight pants. Not only that but Kody think the girl's attire is degrading, but its not inappropriate that he wears pants his eldest daughter thinks are too tight? I find his 'defrauding' his daughter a lot more of an issue than his daughters embarrassing him.

A wise father would ask his two male children who spoke up why they think there are more than enough children rather than act like he's five. They continue to go on and on about the fact that there is never enough money, but he wants more children. He already can't go to all their events because they conflict, but he wants more children. Has he any plan for how he's going to raise them in his 60s?

I am glad to see that the children have settled into Vegas. Children are resilient, but Kody and the wives (a band name if I ever heard one) have overstepped their limit as to how much they should ask those kids to be resilient about. I really think Hunter likes Vegas because he is not surrounded by the crazy plygs. I hope he runs far and has a wonderful life.

    Most embarrassing moment should be?

Meri - any time she said 'but I wanted 8 kids, so I should get 5 bedrooms and a wet bar. 'I had a stronger voice than Janelle back then'.

Janelle - ' I like him in tight pants', said in front of several of her children and bonus children. TMI, Mom.

Robin - we all know exactly the moment Robin should be most embarassed about, and it deals with a locket.

Christine - any time she bowed to Kody's pressure and apologized to Robin because she had normal feelings of jealousy.

And one last comment. Robin does not get that just because they cannot say how much they are paid for their show does not mean that they had to say they are poor about 400 times an episode.

    1. YES, YES, YES. Since when is disciplining your children when they deserved it, giving birth, and being legitimately angry at a spouse embarrassing? And Kody's hair is enough embarrassment for all of them. I think it's pretty clear your wives don't actually like it either. Grow up, get some looser fitting pants, and get a haircut.

    4. I would have thought that Merri's most embarassing moment would have been when the Darger's suggested that they try sharing a kitchen and she got that look on her face like she was about to burst, or start sobbing tears that look like orange fanta. Then Kody had to explain that to them sharing a kitchen is a form of spousal abuse and the Darger's all looked perplexed and confused. Merri was outed for the mean abusive biotch that she is!
Robyn, purity speech hands down...I was surprised that she said that the birth scene was her most embarassing. She obviously agreed to it and although it is an awkward moment to be putting on tv its also her sons birth...why ruin it worse? I admit I was waiting for kody to squat down and say can she stand like so will this help? He was annoying wasn't he..
Christine, most embarassing should have been the humiliation that Robyn and Kody subjected her too by making out on Robins porch while she was laboring and trying to give birth to Truley...can we change her name to angel Truley she is so cute.
Janelle, most embarassing I would have thought was when she flipped her wig at everyone when they were trying to move, she hasn't really done a lot on the show that would be terribly embarassing at least I don't think so...

    3. With the teens I guess a little cleavage is degrading but wearing skin tight pants on your lower half is fine. The wives seem entitled to modesty waivers for things like climbing rope ladders in Mexico, giving birth on tv, or exposing naked feet for mattress shopping.
These modesty rules are more confusing than renewable purity!

      Delete
    4. Apparently, it's also OK to talk about/pretend to pole dance in a children's playground. But I guess when your purity is a renewable resource, it's not too big of an issue.

      Delete
    5. MY thoughts exactly! kody would have no problem with Robin working the pole. He would only think of it as vulgar if one of the others did it.

      Delete
    6. No problem with Robyn working the pole - she's got the Victoria's Secret wardrobe to do it in style.

In fact, all 4 wives could stage a mud wrestling contest come the rainy season in the unlandscaped backyards or roll around in a vat of Kodpyramidschemer's green goo in a big kiddie pool in the middle of the cuddle-sac. I know, letting my imagination run wild here. Can't decide if they should do it stripped down to their MSWC brand work-out gear or in their long-sleeved tops and baby doll blouses - kind of a reverse-wet t-shirt contest. You have to look really hard through lots of layers to see anything at all.

Sorry... my snark meter is off the charts today. Just thinking about how much these Klowns deserve to be spoofed for their grifter ways...

    7. Much abuzz on the TLC SW Facebook page about how they should write a SW cookbook. Meri's got a cranberry recipe up there for Labor Day. I'm thinking Twisted Sister should solicit our own (snarky) recipes to compile in a SWB version of the Klown Family Cookbook. Possible chapters: "Mock Everything"; "Recycled Cookies"; "Wet(Bar)Dreams featuring mocktails mixed by Meriwitch and served to unwary MLM targets. Or you could just name chapters after each of the wives - Cooking with Christine; In the Kitchen with Janelle's Mother; Too Pretty to Cook with Robyn (that's a very short chapter - basically blank pages where you can make notes to yourself) and Meri's Empty Nester Guide to Take-Out Options in and around L.V.

  17. I wish Kody had to explain why he didn't like his answer to Meri when she brought up how would he feel if she had a brother husband or another lover at their dinner on an earlier season. What did he say, something like, 'I gave a terrible answer?' something very short. And Meri, still, had to basically apologize to him for even mentioning it?

Agree with many here that it was grossly arrogant of Kody to say he could have as many children as he wanted in response to Hunter. Hunter really is cool and I missed Madison!

And from an earlier thread, what can't Robyn tell us about her finances due to contractual obligations? Maybe next season could be all about the truth, 'what couldn't be told before...'

  19. This plyg lifestyle has so many flaws.
Obvious, Glaring flaws for the woman and for the children.

I think one of the more repulsive "principles" is that Plyg women are forced to compete with each other by using their ovaries and uteruses for favor and supremacy. Their so-called sister bond is more about competition to conceive.

Not taking up Meri's plight, (she has far more other personality flaws) but it is clear that not being able to pop out babies in tandem with Jangle and Christine has damaged her.
Janelle and Christine kept it tit for tat. There was no winner, no loser.
But Meri was shut out of *that* contest.
Kody patronizes her about it, but it is clear that she was expected to do her babymaking, to do her job, and her failure has made her hard and sullen.

For Kody to so smugly say that he "will have as many kids as he wants" was sickening. Beyond it being disgustingly childish, what a horrible message to give his children. Especially to his sons !!!
A message that clearly says that Plyg women have no say over their bodies.
That the wives exist to be impregnated *at the man's will* !!

Geez.....why would any woman want this for herself...OR for her daughters ?!?!

    2. I don't feel as sorry for Meri as you do I don't trust her at all. She comes across as having a very devious and sadistic manner. I'm convinced that she has been secretly taking birth control pills for years. I don't trust the woman at all. She uses her so called infertility to guilt everyone else into feeling sorry for her. They, in turn, give her whatever she wants.

      Delete
    3. I don't feel so sorry for Meri. Not at all !!
She has made her bed and now her wetbar.

My reference to Meri was only in the context that as a Plyg, her role was to compete in the baby-making race. It wasn't happening so she became a sullen, manipulating, aggressively envious person, along with probably other innate character flaws. And if she really was sabotaging her fertility with whatever means, then that's on her.

Surely there are Plyg women who cannot have the litters that each wife is expected to produce. And at what cost is this to their psyches and to the psychological dynamic of the whole group. Especially if that wife is in a position of power as 1st wife. Her discontent can obviously taint the whole picture. Just like Meri's so obviously does.

Even in Big Love, after her cancer, Barbara would have no more children, but she still was the lead wife and maintained the biggest influence on the Bill.

      Delete
    4. What about the wife in Colorado City who did not have her own children, but became mid-wife to all of the others. Some have accused her of sadistically punishing new moms by putting them through unnecessary waits during their labor. Is this what becomes of envy?

      Delete
    5. Amused, I agree. Meri has used her fertility issue as a manipulative tool to get attention and as an excuse for her rotten attitude and behavior. She's been punishing her sister wives because they ARE fertile and she isn't for years. Her emotional maturity, that of a spoiled, attention seeking, aggressive, mean-girl, seems stuck at about age 16. I can't imagine having to live in such an intimate environment with her. Janelle and Christine are saints to have put up with her BS for so long.

  20. Yesterday I watched the first season of Sister Wives. Interesting that in Robyn’s initial interviews (at home and taking her kids to a playground) she is dressed in a short-sleeved polo shirt, Capri pants and flip flops. Pretty much like any young woman her age – and she looked cute. Her hair looked a bit darker then, she was thinner and had a much fresher-faced look. Now she is bogged down in the heavy jeans, sturdy shoes and those horrid multi-tops. (Also – can they not show their feet either – is that why they are always wearing dark ugly shoes?) I am guessing that Kody didn’t waste much time giving Robyn the word on the appropriate way to dress once she was one of his flock. In the episode where “Kody kisses his girlfriend while his wife is in labor” Robyn was wearing the multi-tops and jeans, so she got in line with the dress code promptly. (That was also the first sighting of the white headband) Also watching those early episodes, I remembered the moment I decided that Kody was a douche bag. It was at the bakery tasting the wedding cake samples. His behavior throughout the tasting was that of a 15 year old which included waving his arms in the air while voting, insisting that he have two votes for his favorite cake for “his wedding reception” and lurching out of his chair to perform an impromptu dance. That was when I decided that he was not a mature man taking a 4th wife and living the principle but rather an ego driven man-child jumping on the opportunity for something young and cute. And of course, it has been downhill with him ever since. His statement that he will have as many kids as he wants is the proof of his personal evolution and his belief in his supremacy.

  21. I am sure this was mentioned many times since the latest episode but...how come Meri's worst moment was one of the ones that I liked the best? I don't care if they aren't perfect or if kids fight or people fight, people in life have disagreements and that was supposed to be part of this show how you work through them in such a huge group with so many adults. I think Meri should be proud of her parenting moment. I was proud of her for being the mom those kids needed in that moment. I couldn't believe her worst moment was what I considered her shining moment.

Also-if SWB made a frumpy bag or bag with the word frumpy on it I would probably buy 2. My boyfriend and I watched that scene like 6 times and giggled our butts off. Now we obnoxiously quote it at each other. I didn't really care either way for Christine...but when she busted out "and maybe a frumpy bag!" I really started to like her.

Green camo to hide the green goo stains you just know are gonna get on it.

  23. Questions I would have liked asked:

Exactly how is there going to be any money to feed, clothe, and educate the youngest of your children since you will need to do so much longer than this show will be on?

If Meri couldn't share a kitchen fairly, why should Janelle, Christine, and Robin have any sense of security about what will happen to them if Kody passes away?

Kody, name 5 things you like about each of your children. No help from their Mom. State all your children's full names and birthdates, age, grade, hair and eye color from memory.

Do you think it will be difficult for your monogamous leaning children to find a mate with your family life having been on TV?

    3. Mister Sister: Replace the words "monogamous person" with "heterosexual male." Fits, doesn't it?

My hubby is very meticulous about his appearance, but even when he was the same age as Kody is now, it was a small part of who he was. With Kody, appearance seems to be everything. As miserably as he fails in that endeavor, it's symbolic of his many other shortcomings.

Make sure you read the fine print of the MLM. Hypocrisy of Kody kissing Robyn is brought up.
Remembering that episode, reminds me that Kody worst moment was when he allowed the camera, had to have that kiss. Christine is correct in saying you don't even kiss or hold hands before marriage. These acts according to the A.U.B. and other FM churches might cause the man to lust and to sin. He doesn't seem to care this is still a tenement of the church and he is embarrassing his church. I am not and have not been in the church since I was 8. But those types of things are taught more than baptism and revering God. The church is mostly folks getting up and giving testimony. No lessons.

It is probably very true as the rest of the family members are dead to him as he has moved on to Robyn. He deals with Meri as he is legally married to her and she and Robyn have a relationship where they use each other. He is repulsive.

    3) About how many times a week did you see Christine during the time you spent in the LV rentals?

    2. Fantastic questions. IIRC, during one of the episodes from last season they were talking about not seeing Kody due to the chaos of having 4 homes and Janelle said he hadn't seen her kids in something like 10 days (maybe 7. I know it was at least a week). I was SHOCKED, not that she said it or that it was true, but that made it into a show.

Now I still haven't seen last nights Q&A but from reading comments about it, seems like the same old s**t warmed over...smh(eye roll) Seriously, what's this I hear about tight pants & buns of steel used in same sentence w/ Kody? That's just 'eewwwww' & someone should tell him that a pot belly & scraggly hair ain't working for him either. Also, the GEICO cave man called & said he wants Kody to return his " cave man look" back... lol
WTH? Kody spewing he can have as many kids as he wants. Really?? Guess we'll just see about that bc his harem ain't no spring chickens anymore. It's all a really matter of time before they're eggs are all totally dried up for good. So then he would have to resort to "courting" & getting a much younger baby maker to start producing more Brown plyg bebe's to add to his 'celestial' planet...God help us if he succeeds in adding a 5th wife. He obviously thinks he's already a god & can command his harem to reproduce at a drop of a hat...smh

  29. Someone should inform Kult Kody that he shouldn't plan on inhabiting his celestial planet for long. How many otherworldly bankruptcies can you file before they repo your groovy planet? Is there a backup Lehi style planet for refugees? That's a question I would have liked to ask.

I could see Kody and the Kodettes doing a Brady Bunch family style variety show once SW goes in the crapper. He could wear lots of bell bottoms and flip flops and the Kodettes could don Mama Cass style gowns, only Mama Cass looked good in hers since she wasn't going for the sausage casing look. Talk about a bunch of dim-wits with seemingly no control over anything......except King Kody, and his delusions of superiority. I'll bet he was insufferable in high school.....but the teachers and parents loved his "charm".....once a schmoozer, always a con-man. I think he really believes the crap that comes out of his mouth. Not a single shred of any meaningful self-awareness....or any other kind of awareness for that matter.

What a sad, pathetic thing to behold. Those women, love 'em or not love them, they deserve so much better than this, but sadly they don't even realize it. And no, not crazy for Meri at all, but this the kind of person this crud creates. She is blind to anything not steeped in competition.

  31. I would like to know Kodys definition of "princess" it seems to me to be a derogatory reference. When Christine said he gets mad when they are jealous of each other it clicked that is why Kody and Christine marriage floundered for so long. She really struggled with robyn for a long time. I think she still does. Kody was alot more concerned about meris jealousy issues than christines. Christine just did not seem as bubbly and she looked kinda defeated. sad...all of this reality fame has gone to kodys head..i remember kodys mom jeans in season one..

Wonder what they think of this hot mess. I did read on the TLC FB page, one person claimed their family member lived nearby (not sure if in the cult-de-sac) and that Kody thought he was a the King and the HOA set him straight rather quickly. Wonder what their monthly or yearly HOA fees are like? Wonder if any of them have made 'friends' with any of their neighbors? Cookie Jar commemorative aerial atlas (on-line version) so you can keep up with the ongoing fence wars between Meriwitch and the others. Wouldn't you just love to get transcripts or video tapes of the HOA meeetings with King Kody pontificating? Oh, and who's gonna clean the Cookie Jar/Cult-de-s_x? Also I wonder if the school district policy on filming in schools ever was changed after the Valentine's filming fiasco. http://www.tmz.com/category/sister-wives/ I had to laugh when I read the production company only donated $500 to the school for filming at that location. Really cheap. This was another example where they threw their kids to the wolves in search of a story-line. Gee... you're giving your kids a "new start" in Las Vegas - so you make sure their whole school knows you're on a reality show about plural marriage. We keep talking about the teens writing tell-all books one day. I'm guessing the little kids will have plenty to write about someday too.

  38. For some reason, the hypocrisy of these people never ceases to amaze me. They discuss dressing conservatively. Yet, Grody attempts to dress himself like a metrosexual gigolo. Sobbin' Robyn talks about purity and cries about giving up her purity to the wrong man. However, she thought nothing of being all smoochy boochy with Grody, while Christine was in labor with Truly. I may not fully understand the dynamics of polygamy, but it seems to me that in any social group, sucking face with your boyfriend, while his wife is in labor is a total faux pas. I've said all along that Robyn has been around the block more times than the Good Humor Ice Cream man. She proved that her morals are not exactly divinely inspired.

Janelle claims that her relationship with Kogigolo is more intellectual than physical. Give me a break. Grody can't even spell the word intellectual let alone know how to have such a conversation. Janelle left Grody once. Why on earth does she cling to him the same way he clings to those few hairs he has left?

Christine maintains that she loves being a sister wife and always wanted to be the third wife, when clearly sharing her husband with three other women and taking on the bulk of the child rearing is dragging her down. Her discontent is becoming more and more visible.

Meri Meri!! Meri is as fake as they come. She tries to get sympathy for her so called infertility issues. She uses it as a guilt card to get whatever she wants from Grody and the other wives. If I have to hear her say that she always wanted to have eight kids one more time, I'm going to scream. Eight children would never fit into her perfect, organized home. Meri is spiteful and dishonest at best. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times. I don't think she ever wanted eight kids. She's just devious enough to secretly take birth control pills to keep from getting pregnant, while whining about infertility. She reminds me of Nicki on BIG LOVE. Like Nicki, Meri always seems to be up to something that will benefit her and her alone. Btw, I wonder why the show hasn't shown Meri doing all that entertaining around her much needed wetbar that she insisted on having?

    To the wives:
1-Do you think this lifestyle has longstanding positive effects on your children?
    What are they?

2-Do you think the benefits are the same for your daughters as they are for your sons?
    Why?

3-Can you honestly say that Kody has been an effective provider for his family before TLC?

4-Do your children have an active relationship with their father that *you* feel is adequate for their needs and for *their* desires?

    To Kody:
1-If education the public about polygamy was your stated goal for doing the show, then are you aware at all of the impression about polygamy your actions and words have done to that end??

2-Are you concerned at all that for the majority of viewers watching SW and your behaviors in this lifestyle as you portray it, that it appears to be one of ongoing emotional conflicts bordering on abuse, welfare exploitation, greed, rampant egotism and irresponsibility?

3-Could a vast majority of people all be wrong in observing what you choose to be seen as your version of polygamy?

  41. A lot of good questions! Here's another one I would be want to ask: Why do the couch interviews take 8 hours to complete as Kody has claimed in an earlier press statement? He has stated that out of 8 hours the viewer actually sees only about 5 minutes of footage. Most of the show feels heavily scripted. And with Kody's statement it seems like even the couch interviews are heavily scripted/edited. My main issue with so-called reality shows is that I don't get a sense of what is really real and what is scripted or edited. I think if this show was in a documentary format the viewer would have a better sense of what their lives are REALLY like instead of this play-acting/edited b.s.

  43. I have watched the show, and for the first time my husband watched the Q&A plus a few scenes that I pulled up for him. He had a look of horror for most of it. After reading through all the comments I am surprised that no one brought up this, said by Robyn at the end of the Q&A.

"I think it's very hard to have so many people looking at you and judging you and making a call on who they think you are."

She looked down at her hands and wouldn't look at the camera when she was saying it. In fact, for the whole show she looked like she wanted to be somewhere else. I am shocked because lately she has been the center of attention and can't keep herself from adding on sound bites at the end of everyone elses statements and jumping into every conversation as if she has the answer. How many posts lately have been "Robyn!! Shut the F--- UP!!" It was refreshing to finally hear a full sentence from Christine and Janelle!!

So, I think she just might be reading our opinions and observations right here. That is an unusual statement unless she is truly aware of the negative opinions that people hold for her.

If you are reading this Robyn, here ya go.

The general consensus around this Blog is dipping on the negative side for a few reasons. The general public does not like home wreckers. We don't like liars, and we don't like passive aggressive, mean, hurtful people. If you don't want the general public to think this of you......DON'T ACT THAT WAY. Even if you have to take an acting class to teach you how to A*C*T like a good mother who cares more about her children than her new ManToy, who cares about the feelings of the people around her, and goes out of her way to help the family that took her in and gave her children a family. Then maybe we will change our opinions. Stop bashing the man who gave you those precious children. You can have your differences but you are DAMAGING your children by bashing their father! Teach your girls to stand up and be themselves instead of little hymens. Teach them to stand up as a strong woman and not to hang on a man for validation.

    2. I totally agree with this statement! I was surprised that there weren't more comments about what Robyn said as well. It seemed like she finally got that people are so sick of her jumping in at the end of everyone speaking to finish their sentences. It bugs me the most when she does it about the teens. I mean really, you are SO knowledgeable about these women's children they need you to clarify what they are saying? Somehow, I seriously doubt that. I mean just judging by what we have seen of your own children, especially your girls, you are CLUELESS!

I truly feel sorry for those girls. With her as their mother and Kody as their "father" I see nothing good in their future.

      Delete
  44. .....continued from above......

However it's the lies that have nailed the coffin for me. I pulled out my copy of the book and Robyn's story just doesn't fly with the story about her Puurii-yy. I can't stand liars and one of those stories is a big, fat lie. Maybe both.

Robyn needs to look at what we see. We saw footage of a happy, but unusual family who was making it work. Then we watched a selfish man ruin it by bringing in a new SexToy to rub it in his hard working, loyal wives' faces. I still think that Robyn was a made for television prop. But since she has been around the block she probably opened up a whole new (mid life crisis-style) sex romp and taught the ole Kodster some new bedroom tricks.

Of course they can't openly talk about sex!! I can see the backlash now when that clown puts on tape for the world that sex is great with Meri because they have a physical, chemical attraction, but sex with Janelle and Christine is "what has to get done to make babies" and the emotional support for Christine is nadda, none, nothing. (shame on you!) Janelle is a "friend, a buddy" at the end of the day. Then comes Robyn who has been around the block and at his time in life she is just what was ordered.

The saddest part of reading about this lifestyle and this "cult religion" is the children. My children are a joy to me, and they go to bed every night knowing they are safe and loved. When they speak I listen, when they need a parent I am there. I don't pencil them in for some future moment.

Children in his life are nothing to him, they are an end to a means. Lots of kids, lots of wives mean a big prize, nothing more. They are for the women to care for, alone. The women make all the sacrifices and do all the work while the man struts around the yard like a Prized breeding Rooster. In fact, I see a LOT of similarities between their lifestyle and my flock of chickens. I wonder if Joseph Smith spent some time around chickens, it wouldn't surprise me.

  47. This is my take on why Christine was so upset that Kody wasn’t a clean freak at Robyn’s house. I think it’s because Kody has made comments like “I would stay with you more if your house was cleaner” or has made other derogatory comments about the cleanliness of her house vs. the other wives… so Christine thinks that Kody would have a “clean” house if he lived on his own. Poor Christine – she can never win with Kody. Other than generally being regarded as the best cook (but he tells Robyn she is too pretty to have to learn to cook), she gets no validation from Kody at all. Honestly everytime she is talking on couch time, he has a look of utter disgust. I said this last season and I say it again this season, I think Kody would be relieved if Christine would just leave. I sometimes think he thinks if he pushes her over the edge, she will pack up and leave. I don’t think he would care at all if she were gone or even care that much about ‘her’ kids leaving, he seems to favor them the least as well.

He doesn't like to have to work on relationships and Christine has tried to push him to empathize with her and the other wives and to put thought and energy into their 'marriage' and he doesn't like it at all. He's lazy and thinks that his wives and children are there to serve him - what's unfortunate, many of them are only too happy to accommodate him. I've not seen any indication that he does anything selflessly. I don't think he'd mind at all if she was gone.

Why is it ok for Kody and Mariah to wear tight pants, Robyn to look like she is having the "big O" while giving birth, and call the mother of his children a "Princess"?

I used to want Christine and Janelle to "escape" but now I hope only Christine leaves and becomes super-famous... I would love for her to show him what a "real Princess" is made of!

When Sol was born, Kody takes one look at him and blurts out, "He looks like one of MY boys !"
Well, isn't he one of your boys ? It just seemed like such a bizarre thing to say.

    1. I have a question....

If I am not a "Nielson Family", me watching the show doesn't effect their "ratings"....right???

Cuz I'm just sayin'.....with technology today, if my watching the show is helping their ratings....I'm done!

WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME....to think they got a paycheck for that episode!!!

I also want to say, WHAT is with Christine and all her googly, sappy, sugary comments to Kody. BARF....it is so plain to see Kody sit in between these women and suck in all the hype on himself....That is why he is in this polygamy crap, he NEEDS the compliments to thrive.

Also, did it not seem like Meri was hiding her face through the whole episode??? She looked of course OVERLY tan still....thinks maybe she got overdosed on it.

#1 Do you realize what ever you say, your daughter Mariah IS going to her college whether she gets a
      scholarship or not????
(as stated by her in the last episode)

#2 Being that you have a "TV show" RIGHT NOW, will it be up to each of the wives to make financial
arrangements for THEIR younger children to go to college when the time arrives???

#3 Do ALL the kids have access to ALL the houses???? If any of the mothers are not home, do they lock
it up?? Do any of the older kids have keys to all the houses??? Do they have to knock or ring the
      doorbell if they walk in?

    4. Just a Thought, Mr. Contrari works for Nielsen. The ratings are extrapolated from the Nielsen family set boxes. Nielsen families are considered a cross section of the viewing public. Hence, it doesn't matter if you're in the set-box sample or not. Nielsen families change periodically.

  50. Hey, items in Twisted Sister's Closet actually apply to me and I could use. I'm wife #3 (Husband's 1st died, 2nd divorced). SWC could take a note or two from Twisted Sister's and make some actual money with items people could really use.

    My questions:

Kody, please tell us the religious reason why you need to have multiple wives and babies.

Then when he tries to sidestep: Isn't it true that you believe that you will be elevated to a god and have your own planet based on the number of wives you have?

Follow up: how to you reconcile your beliefs with the 10 commandments (thou shalt not worship false gods).

Wives: How exactly does sharing a man make you a better person?

Why is it that you believe that you are only worth 1/4 of a man's commitment/attention?

What would you say to those who want to help you get out of this lifestyle?

Why do you continue to lie to your viewers? How do you try to keep your lies straight, because you're not doing a very good job of it right now?

  51. I was curious about some of the mentions here about Truely being sick so I searched for Maddie's Instagram. She posted a 4 pic collage about her summer that included one of Truely in a hospital bed. Her caption said "My 3 year old sister was in the hospital for 1 1/2 for acute kidney failure,"...

IDK if she means 1.5 days or weeks, but either way, acute kidney failure is serious. I hope she is doing much better now and that she can be free of future problems. My thoughts and prayers are for the little sweetheart!

While Maddie has told her fans via instagram that Truely was hospitalized this summer, it is not appropriate to speculate on the specific causes of her illness.

Until the Browns actually speak out about this and provide the real story let's not try to lay blame by speculating who or what caused her illness.

Talk about timing! After Sunday night's hypocritical Q&A about modesty and cleavage and tight pants, it's interesting from a 'selfie' Maddie posted last week that she doesn't ascribe to that rule and either her mom didn't get a glimpse of her before she left the house or she approves of it. 53. I would like, NO DEMAND, OF ROBYN, KODY AND TLC.. What the HE** WERE THEY THINKING with some of the wording of that MORONIC PURITY LESSON???

Meaning-Yeah, I get she, Robyn was supposedly giving the 'big' talk to the girls who were of dating age that they should be 'SAVING' THEMSELVES (the guys too) for MARRIAGE... BUT... again.. DID SHE, KODY, AND TLC even THINK (and Yes, I KNOW that is asking A LOT of KODY AND ROBYN)OF what they were saying in FRONT OF ROBYN'S KIDS from HER FIRST MARRIAGE?????

Maybe, HOPEFULLY, the following important things were edited out. I rather doubt it though. What do I mean? Robyn TEARFULLY (is there any other way for Robyn?) about how her PURITY was basically STOLEN from her! (She was alluding that she was taken advantage of, almost raped, etc. as opposed to being a 'horny teen/20 something who could not wait any longer, WHICH I would bet the farm is much closer to the truth-SHAME.ON.HER.!) This is the father of David, Brianna, and Aurora she is talking about, and they are sitting there. Really, SHAME ON YOU ROBYN!!! She goes on to say something along the line, while handing Kody something, which is supposed to be her 'purity'.. 'He took my purity, I was supposed to save it FOR YOU!!!! and here it is.' Save it for Kody? So, then her 1s marriage, she basically was saying, was a BIG MISTAKE, and if she waited for Kody to come along, then her 1st 3 children wouldn't have been born. The 3 sitting with the other kids listening to this sickening speech.

So, Robyn AND KODY.. diD EITHER OF YOU explain to David (not DAYTON!), BRIANNA, and Aurora, that this 'lesson' was JUST FOR THE SHOW? oR WAS this REALLY a LESSON FOR the KIDS? oR Was it a 'KISSING THE BUTT OF KODY, OUR KING?" Maybe, those 3 kids did not understand what you said on the show, right now Robyn, but, they will soon. They will see that you talk down about their REAL FATHER, just to elevate the EGO of your current husband. See how close you and your kids are 20 years from now and think back to what you said and did just to get closer tO kody and I'll ask you Robyn, was it WORTH IT? the Television time? The extra Kody time?

#2-How are your houses FINANCED? 10, 20 % DOWN, did TLC help? is it an interest only loan right now? etc.

#3-How is your TLC salaries 'divied up'?

I.e. Kate Gosselin has stated that she immediately put money into trust accounts for each kid when she received the cks(came out when she and Jon split and Jon tried and removed a large amt of money, he said he was 'DUE' $220K- 1/10 of te $2.2million they-Jon and Kate plus 8 earned during the run of the show. (He did not seem to feel his share should have paid for housing, food, etc. etc.JERK!-BUT, it certainly gave us an IDEA what REALITY SHOW families EARNED-they had almost 100 episodes over 5 seasons.-ended about 3, 4 years ago).

I would also like to know if the 'DUGGAR' family 'divies'(SP?) up their 'salary' too, but, I suspect they don't (either?).. I do not believe that the states that any of them are in have CHILD LABOR LAWS... or if Reality shows even fall into them.

    1. Jon was not treated fair. She controlled all the money, and controlled his losing the tlc gig and the ability to do any other gig. Then got the court to order support based on their two years of reality show income. The court also noted he needed to start putting 3% in the kids names moving forward. My guess is she wasn't doing that much for the kids. Mama June is the most respectful and functional parent on TV. All of it goes to the kids. Their lifestyle hasn't changed.

      Delete
    2. Oh gosh, where to begin.
You might be thinking of June, Honey Boo Boo's mom. She's the one who, on her own, has money directly deposited into trust accounts for all of the girls.

Kate never put one cent into any account for the kids until she was FORCED to right before Rep. Murt's hearings to change the labor laws where they said that the new law was going to require trusts be set up for all children in entertainment and she and TLC knew they'd be in big trouble for not saving anything for the kids.

All of J&K's money went into joint accounts during the marriage (except for the cash made during the church circuit and who knows where that went). He never saw a cent of it personally, yet you can bet she did since she controlled all of the family money. Heck, Jon couldn't even go out to lunch when he was working without getting into trouble.

It's unknown how much the family earned during the run of the show; when he withdrew the money (which was returned) he stated he felt that he was taking his 'share' of the $22,000/episode the family earned. BTW, Kate withdrew a similar amount, just like he did - it's commonly done during divorces. It's felt that the family earned much more than $2.2million during the run of the show. Jon also paid $22,000/month in child support for the first year after the divorce.

Recently, one of the people on "Storage Wars" sued TLC. They're still in the midst of the lawsuit but it was recently reported (today on Radar Online) that just this one person (in a cast of at least 5) had been contracted to be paid $25,000/episode for a season of 10 episodes.

I scratched my head and related it to J&K and the Browns. IF one guy in a cast of 4-6 is paid $25,000 per 30 min episode, then I wonder if EACH of the Browns has a similar contract. If so, in their season of 8? episodes, each Brown adult could be making $200,000/season. That's more than enough to pay their mortgages and finance their many side trips and pay for college.

      Gives something to think about.

  57. Why are they going with the angle of Meri asking Kody if he wants another baby with her? Kody told her last season that he was planning on having more kids, whether with her or someone else. Meri doesn’t want another kid, but she is now trying to put that decision on him? He has asked her numerous times that we have seen on screen so imagine how many times he brought it up privately? I thought the wives decided if they wanted more kids…which makes sense, since Kody doesn’t really have to take care of them or feed them or anything. Kody actually benefits from Meri having an empty nest. There is none of those pesky screaming kids around, keeping him from his sleep or kids that need to be disciplined, disrupting him from his cell phone. And if Meri has to go on some hormones or something to prepare for invitro, those mood swings are going to be excruciating for the entire family, the State of Nevada and all 2 million of us viewers. Just sayin’.

She's gonna stick it to Kody any way she can. Devious on her part, Im sure Kody did not see this coming. She is putting him on the spot like he did with her , with deadline he gave her. She has had a lot of time to devise this scheme, as he gave her over a year to make a decision.

    1. Not so sure this was Meri's idea. My take on this is that the producer suggested this plot to further the story-line. Some people will do anything for the kind of money reality shows garner. Even if it means allowing themselves to be portrayed in a not-so-flattering light. They may have started out feeling uncomfortable about the subterfuge but as each episode was aired and the Browns' became more dependent on the TLC paycheck this family found it easier to live with "creating drama" for higher ratings.

I do hope they come on here to read. They could learn a lot of the public's perception of their life and see that the general consensus is not what they had hoped for. Just loved Hunter right from the beginning and he will only stand up more to his father and will fly the coop at eighteen. So glad now that the kids aren't smothered in a private plyg school.

    1. No, you are not alone. Whenever I see Janelle interacting with Kody, I hear Tammy Wynette singing "Stand by Your Man" in the background. When her boys act up (and that would include Hunter, Gabriel and Garrison) it's because of their raging testosterone and not the lack of parenting skills from Kody. When questioned in season one about Kody driving that expensive Lexus, she said "We got it cheap" which I guess means it was given to them or it fell off a truck with the keys miraculously landing in Kody's hand. And when she had to admit that she was formerly married to Meri's brother she said "I don't see what the big deal is". The fact she couldn't see how some might think schtupping her former sister-in-law's husband and being his spiritual wife might be a little weird makes me believe she must be in her own special Kodyworld.

  61. I would love to ask them:

Why did Mariah get to go to Europe after graduating and Logan or Aspyn did not? And if you are going to say that the money is divided equally amongst the wives then it shows a lot of inequity amongst the children. They may not say anything out loud and have learned to "keep sweet" about these thing, but they feel it. Indeed they do. They feel every inequitable moment in their lives concerning Mariah and her only child status amongst 20 something siblings.
If they are going to have all of these children then they need to start putting them first above the adult wants and start treating them equally and fairly.

I would also ask them now that they are making more money than they have ever made in their lives but having to put up with Sobbyn and her continuas lost luggage popping up, and the fact that their mangod is smitten with her and none of you ladies can hold a candle to her in his eyes.....is it really worth it?

  64. RE: Meri and her fertility. I honestly don't think that this is something she would make up nor 'fake' by using birth control pills on the side. I've struggled with infertility with my husband and we know it's me because he has two children from a previous marriage with his ex. I can't imagine being in her shoes and watching these other women pop out kids left and right with my husband when I couldn't do it. It leaves a profound impact on your mental state in a monogamist relationship not to imagine what it does to a polygamist woman whose worth is (unfairly) defined by her purity and her child-bearing.

I don't love Meri- I think she's incredibly unfair in spending all the extra resources for herself instead of her bonus children, but I don't think she's faking or manipulating her infertility.

  65. From observing Christine's behavior the last few episodes on the show, I surmise that she is doing and saying what she needs to in order to 'survive' within this relationship web and keep she and her children sage and taken care of. It appears that she has shut off a part of herself that we have seen in the past that reflected a more conscious and self-confident human being. It seems like bulls**t when she tells Robyn how dearly she wants to "help make your(her) dreams come true", how she was a 'terrible' sister wife, how embarrasses she is over the wedding dress-comment walkout.
Christine seems to be holding on to the tangible--the house--and what it represents (family, security), realizing that she would be unable to support this herself, and doing what's necessary to survive within these parameters, even in the face of what is clearly (to the collective viewership, far enough removed from the forest to see the trees) emotional abuse and abuse of power in this relationship web, in which she is so clearly at the bottom (not first wife, not new wife, not smart money-making wife).
When Meri says "this lifestyle makes us all better", there is an ironic twist in this. It doesn't seem to make the man better; in fact, the potential for creating a childish dictator who revels and basks in the attention of his 'followers' (the women--of course Kody prefers to hang with the ladies; the men aren't going to free-feed his massive ego). Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It doesn't seem to make the women 'better' either, not in the true sense of spiritual evolvement. An unfair and unbalanced burden is placed on the women to grapple with an illogical situation. I'm certain that Kody would have a nervous breakdown trying to grapple with the emotional burden and mind games Christine is clearly dealing with.
Look, yeah, we get it--there are examples of polygamy mentioned in the Bible. Back when women were still seen in some civilizations as chattel. Humans have undergone great spiritual evolution since then. It's not hard to believe, however, that a bunch of dudes would be like "yeah, polygamy, great idea" and that there would be, in modern times, women that would follow them down this path.
What I find hard to comprehend is how a modern woman with access to information about psychology, the workings of the mind, the histories of religion and religious culture, would still choose this lifestyle. I think that's what we're seeing with the younger Browns. They are becoming enlightened in the modern age.
Unfortunately for Christine, she seems convinced that the way for her to 'become better' is to obfuscate her true inner feelings with the "smoke and mirrors' of what has been the dictate to polygamous wives in their religious survival manual. How much does she really believe the bulls**t and how much is she pretending or trying to convince herself? Reminds me, in a very tangential way, of the Patty Hearst debacle.
And Kody. Good Lord have mercy! Even Oprah acted like it was all fun and interesting without really looking deeper; shame on you Oprah--Dr. Phil would be much more sane as an interview choice. I used to think that Kody seemed kind of fun and nice, cute in High School. But notice the changes over the show's history. Little by little we have seen glimpses of his true nature. And I, for one, am repulsed.

  66. Some of my favorite quotes by early Mormom Church founding members concerning polygamy -

"Sisters, do you wish to make yourselves happy? Then what is your duty? It is for you to bear children...are you tormenting yourselves by thinking that your husbands do not love you? I would not care whether they loved a particle or not, but would cry out, like one of old, in the joy of my heart, 'I have got a man from the Lord! Hallelujah! I am a mother.."
-Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v.9, p.37

"...say to your wives, 'Take all that I have and be set at liberty, but if you stay with me you shall comply with the law of God, and that too without any murmuring and whining. You must fulfill the law of God in every respect, and round up your shoulders to walk up to the mark without any grunting.' Now recollect that in two weeks from tomorrow I am going to set you at liberty. But the first wife will say, 'It is hard, for I have lived with my husband twenty years, or thirty, and have raised a family of children for him, and it is a great trial to me for him to have more women;', then I say it is time that you gave him up to other women who will bear children. If my wife had borne me all the children that she ever would bare, the celestial law would teach me to take young women that would have children..."
-Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, v.4, pp 56

Any wonder why Meri is indecisive?

"Bretheren, I want you to understand that it is not to be as it has been heretofore. The brother missionaries have been in the habit of picking out the prettiest women for themselves before they get here, and bringing on the ugly ones for us; hereafter you have to bring them all here before taking any of them, and let us all have a fair shake."

    Very wise analogy !!
Just go and read any Al-Anon pamphlet and you will see the same pattern.
The addict is consumed with securing his or her drug at whatever the cost may be to the family.
The addict is unreliable, prone to rage, manipulation and deceit.
The addict projects his or her issues on everyone in the immediate vicinity. (not their fault)
The addict holds their loved ones hostage with fear of exposure and abandonment.
    Etc, etc....!!

  70. Malamom, interesting quotes. So obviously written by men with a very particular agenda--breeding.
The Rule of Power: the ones with power make the rules.
Jesus came to teach that Love is the answer, that to love the other as the self is the "golden rule". Yes, he was descended from the line of David and born a Jew, and was a practicing Jew by all accounts, but he really unshackled the burden of rule-oriented religion from the minds of others by proclaiming in the Sermon on the Mount to "Love one another".
The rules created by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young (and their cohorts) seem quite skewed in favor of men, wouldn't you say? Funny how regular LDS overall seem so generally kind and congenial; they have such a solidarity as a group as well. Were some of the rule-makers actually insightful in ridding the early religion of polygamy or were they just trying to be allowed into the Union? I wonder...The FLDS and AUB seem like profane strongholds.

  71. Why would Kody select a previously used wife with 3 kids and no experience being a plyg wife to marry?

    1. She was in his church, the AUB. Robyn has said numerous times that her and her previous husband (David Jessop, Christine's cousin) were going to add wives, they just had not yet.
So, she was married to a Jessop, a "royalty" name in AUB.

Not sure why he would marry a woman with 3 children, however, once married you must remember that "adds" to his children.

  72. None of the women had experience actually being concubines before King K graced them with his magnificent self. And he seems to have overcome his revulsion at the "used" nature of Sobbin', especially since she made public confession, dissed her ex through name calling and putting all the blame on him for indulging in pre-marital sex, expressed disgust that she had any further sexual relationship with him since Kody was meant to be the dad all along, elevated Kody to a state of sanctification, and is now restored to a state where she is "worthy" of being in Kody the Magnificent's harem. Where there's a skinny, younger, attractive (apparently), woman there's always a way.

  73. Since it looks like the Brown family has been ostracized by the AUB, I wonder what that means for the kids who want a polygamous marriage in the future? I don't think there's any way a respectable AUB or Centennial Park family is going to give their blessing for a marriage to one of the Brown kids. They've already shown the kids in what the AUB considers immoral clothing, speech and blatantly not practicing the tenets of their faith. Who would want the Brown Klowns as in-laws? Now, I think most of the kids are great, but definitely not what the strict AUB or Centennial Park bunch are raising their kids to be.

    1. I politely disagree. I think that the AUB folks would be happy to have one of these kids as a in law. They are GOOD kids, despite their parents.

    2. I agree Mister Sister... although I'm hoping they will all turn their backs on polygamy!

  75. i watched an old interview on youtube today. It was the Joy Behar Show. On it Kody States that before Robyn came into the family they didn't have a schedule of where he stayed when. He said a schedule only became necessary when Robyn came along. Don't you wonder why and where was he sleeping all the time? I guess he must have stayed with Janelle and Christine because they sure did have a lot of kids. Still it really made me think.

  76. Christine: quit apologizing and being so humble. It is clear you are the "Rock Star" in this family.

  77. It was probably mentioned in the thread about the Q&A session, but I thought it was RIDICULOUS to film Kody running from house to house to gather the children. With cell phones in every family, that wasn't at all necessary! I think he (and TLC) wanted to emphasize how he can now go from house to house without driving. I guess walking would have eaten up too much video time, plus he really wanted to show his hair flying out behind him. I don't think I would bother to watch at all if I couldn't come here to vent & read the vents of others.
