  1. Yay!!! I love this topic. :-)

I know I blab a lot but I also like hearing other posters theories quite a bit.

My thought about the folks who post on fb that they will finance the homes - if they were serious thy would contact the browns directly and not post it on fb for all to see...

    1. DJ,
      That's a really good point.
If someone *really* had that kind of slush fund, they wouldn't post it and encourage others to hit them up for money.

    2. I politely disagree.
The thing is, it is sometimes hard to get in touch with "famous" people (of course, you can get in touch with their agent or in the browns case, write them to their gmail address), but I think this dummy dude thinks that writing on the Browns' facebook wall is the most direct way of contacting them (as it would be if someone wrote on my personal wall), the thing is that the Browns don't oficially read it, so it makes no sense to us. But that dude doesn't know that.

    4. Heck, I'd finance a home or two at an obscene interest rate with 40% down. Free money, whee! I'd have to figure out to get rid of Kody's "stink" though.

    5. When you consider their past, unless they are going to take the generosity of some poor lonely fan, they will live there while they can, then move one.... it's called GRIFTERS like has been said 1000 times. They need not NEW homes, they need NOT invest so much in a town that has 10's of thousands of houses in foreclosure. What they should do is rehab some homes cheaply. They have the manual labor!

I hope TLC has done one better and rented them all a big Bachelor-style mansion, like whatever they will inhabit together for eternity!

Remember, it doesn't matter to them whose kids they are or whose night it is because they are better women than you. Cheaper and dang good TV!

    1. I think TLC should stick their asses in those RV's they rented for them in a RV Park somewhere or smack dab in the middle of the Desert & tell them to suck it up! Let The DoucheBag get all bitchy & cry about having to run from one RV to another everynight!

  3. Still trying to figure this out.

So House #1 sold (this matches up with what Mona said).

Could the rest of the houses there be the Brown's? It would match what the kids said---2 built, 2 under construction.
Maybe they will come out and say that after putting the money on 6,7,8,9 they decided they liked the other side better...or 2 were already built and would save time...etc.

    1. I'm still trying to figure out why Kody emphatically believes that he deserves these houses. I'm no philosopher. I'm no great thinker. I'm just you're average working mom/wife. Kody's entitlement attitude is a mind scrambler to me. I know lots of people, besides my husband and myself, who work hard everyday. We don't take vacations at all much less several times a year. In fact, we usually work during our vacation times in order to pick up an extra pay check. We pay our bills on time or at least close to being on time. We don't stiff our credit card companies. We don't try to stiff our utility providers. We pay our mortgages and property taxes. If that means that we eat pancakes and eggs several times a week for suppper without going on food stamps, then so be it. We feel we are better people for it. So, why does Kody Brown feel that he 'deserves' these homes? I get that they are being paid to do the show, but they can't be making all that much money. Oh yes, they have their jewelry business and LIV...what a joke. Whatever they are being paid for their NON-reality show, it has to be split among five adults and seventeen children. Just for shits and giggles, let's say that the entire Brown Clan earns a total of $300K per season. (I think that's a generous figure, btw.) Figure in taxes. It's not bad, but when it's divided among 5 adults and 17 children, it looks much more like the wages of the average family. How in the world do they think they are going to meet their mortgage payments each month along with the cost of vehicle maintenance, utilities, groceries, clothing, toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc?

    2. Do you think that maybe it's from being raised in that religion? As the men are future gods and gods deserve nice things.

    3. New Shoes you could not have said it better.

In the real world they would be banking whatever they are earning, buying some double wides or moving back to their plig home.

But Kody apparently does not live in the real world, he is in Lala Land where he is ENTITLED!

      Delete
    4. I just don't understand this overriding sense of ENTITLEMENT that all of these adults (especially Grody) have. It makes no sense to me. Granted, I believe that all human beings deserve nice things, but I also believe that people should work hard for those nice things by holding down a job, being a conscientious family member, friend, and parent, and striving to make their community a better place.
I don't believe that people "deserve" things for existing, or following a particular religious cult (because let's face it: we can argue the theology of the mainline LDS faith all day long, but the polygamist, fundamentalist branches are a cult!).
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Grody has narcissistic personality disorder and is extremely destructive in his behavior. The wives, because of their own upbringing, childhood issues, etc., are along for the roller coaster ride and don't understand that this is NOT how life is supposed to be and are at a loss as to how to get off.
Rant over. Also, I've been block by Grody on Twitter. I gave myself a "Blocked by Grody" badge! It will go on my merit badge vest from the Girl Scouts.

    5. "Blocked by Kody Brown on Twitter" would have been a great entry in the Tshirt contest...lol
Maybe it's not too late... "blocked and out of the running as future bedroom wife" perhaps...?

    6. I think Carolyn Jessop is a good judge of how "ellite and entitled" the religion is, I understand she is FLDS, and they are AUB, but all considered fundamental secs. She has always started her interviews that I have seen on how the mind set allows them to take from anyone not in the group. Bleeding the beast, the government, non believers and sharks. They are the only true religion. They chosen people.

    2. There are rumors out there that Kodouche is courting again. What are they going to do if he marries a 5th wife? Will they move the family again to find FIVE houses in a cul-de-sac? Maybe they should just by the whole freaking neighborhood to secure their nesting box for the future. I'm sorry if my words are laced with venom but it bothers me that they are getting 4 mini-mansions when they DO NOT deserve them!

Hmm, it sounds so archaic and stupid..courting. I hope he is. I hope his jumping squirrel inner voice has him swishing his frizzy hair and whining and dining another wife. That's what they all claim to want.
      Why stop now?
Go for it, try to entice TLC for more seasons. One of these days it will all be in vain...BAM! Canceled. And there they'll all be spinning in circles wondering who's going to pay the bills.

    5. sorry, i still don't believe Robyn's pregnant (been hearing that one here repeatedly since January) nor is there going to be a 5th wife if and when next season comes on.

I do agree tho they're going to have to come up with something different and dramatically interesting. everyone's tired of the pleading for new homes next to each other and Meri's surrogacy w/Robyn (never was for real - just scripted drama they've drug out too long already) and Christine's constant bipolar interactions re:Kody and Robyn. it's all gotten old and boring for sure.

    6. I have a very good friend that works in a restaurant in Vegas that Kody frequents. She said she has seen him with this one chick numerous time, without the other wives or family. She said they are romantically engaged every time they are together. My friend's boss has forbidden the staff to pictures and tells them that they will be fired if they are caught. From my understanding, the restauants they go to have deals with the filming companies for things such as, 1)they must show the restuarant name, 2) they will not disclose dates of taping to the public, 3) they will not release info before the scheduled air date, 4) they insure staff will be professional and private. For these reasons, the Brown's frequent the same establishments often. My friend has never gotten their table but she says other co-workers have said they don't tip that well. She said that she has seen the family many times at different places throughout Vegas and they seem like a group of camp kids and counselors, not parents/children.

    7. Wow that's interesting Anonymous!! Even more so, if he's NOT suppose to be courting....lol Steppin' out on the 4 wives, huh?? Now, that would be a great TMZ scandal! :D When U say romantically engaged, does that include KISSING?? Christine would be freaked!...lol
Hmmmmmm????? Guess only time will tell :D

    8. I can't imagine Kody being so public like that about "secretly" courting. I don't believe this rumor personally. No ring of truth to it for me.

      Delete
    9. I'm with Anon 8:28 - if Kody was courting publicly, we would have heard about it on TMZ, Perez Hilton etc, because there would be photos. Maybe not from the restaurant staff but there are papparazi everywhere...even amateur ones who would just use their iPhone or whatever to snap a couple of candid shots then put on FB, or send to TMZ for their page. We would have known a LOOOOONG time ago.

I think in order to keep our arguments reasonable, we as a group of people looking into the truth behind the faux "reality" need to step back and focus on the facts rather than making suppositions and wild rumors...otherwise we (as a group) start to have as little credibility as those crazy-butt commenters on the TLC FB page. I just like to focus on the facts, and enjoy the investigations into events that were aired on the show as 'facts' - digging out the truth. Stuff like accusing Meri of being bi (whatevs...), Robyn of having lots of lingerie from VS (as I've stated before, VS online doesn't just sell lingerie...and so what if she did...maybe Robyn came into the faith later...what's wrong with having some lingerie??) and so on is just cattiness. The stuff to focus on is whether the Browns are being truthful when they write $5k checks and state they are buying big ass houses they can't afford, their claims of having "jobs" when it is an MLM pyramid scheme, and so on. Again, this is IMO. I like to focus on uncovering facts from the BS being purported on the show, not of accusing immorality or trying to impose my own moral/religious beliefs on others. I do feel that polygamy hurts women and children when practiced this way, and that the Browns are using the fact that they are polygamists to cash in on TV, and I feel disgust for that, and bad for the children, because they have no choice in being in this situation. The adults are all in this by choice.

  5. I think the kids spoke somewhat correctly.... there are two house done in on lots in the subdivision, and two more under construction..... the problem is that those homes don't belong to the Brown family. The kids have probably been duped into thinking that the lots that the parents supposedly bought cant have homes built on them until the builder has built on all the OTHER lots.

My guess is that if the same builder is building all the homes, he sees no point in starting construction on the Brown's homes until their financing is truly in place and the bank promises that he will get paid. Which means that the homes will not be built anytime soon as no respectable bank will loan these folks any more, they are not any kind of acceptable credit risk

    1. I think the same thing, I think the little ones have heard so many different bs stories from these people they are probably confused. Remember the Kite Flying Scene where the Adults are telling them to dream...there were actually 2 houses being built on those lots at that time or 1 was finished (though I couldn't tell) & the other was still under construction BUT they hadn't told the kids yet that one had sold (or the real reason that they couldn't afford it). So, basically I think the kids got the stories mixed up & probably don't really know anymore than we do, lol. Guess we'll all have to wait & see though.

I would also be interested in which children told the house info? If it was Robyn's kids I wouldn't believe it. I think of all the children Robyn's still idolize Kody and are more likely to believe what he says.

      Delete
    3. yeah, i'm pretty sure they believe he's their real dad now, too.

  6. What solid evidence do we have about the kids's claims about the houses? There was one post on SWB from one source - can you give us more details, poster? I am naturally very skeptical as this has turned into a game of Internet telephone (kind of like the rumor of each adult making 75K per show) And it seems we have all taken it as gospel truth. The kids may not have ever said this. For now, I'm sticking with the ppl that offer photo and county records evidence as more believable.

There's a lot of criticism for these houses, being too expensive and big etc. But in reality, if they want 4 adjacent houses, they really HAVE to go to a new development. Otherwise you could wait 50+ years for houses to become available in an established neighborhood. I think their real problem, is refusing to leave that particular area/school district, which may only be upscale neighborhoods. You real estate sleuths correct me if I'm wrong..

In any case, it will be the Gated Section 8 & Foreclosure soon anyways.

I think they will somehow scrape together (swindle/con/grift) enough cash to move into 4 adjacent houses, but will all too quickly become Section 8 & Foreclosure.

And this is a random thought - has anyone ever considered that the Big Vegas Move was all about Robyn? Newlywed Kody uprooted his family to be closer to HER family (and so far away from Christine's she had to save grocery money to visit). It happens all the time in monogamous couples. Why couldn't that have been a factor here? She is/was the favorite wife at the time.

    1. Excellent points ZS.
My personal opinion is that TLC/F8Fs would have been okay to keep filming in Lehi. However, Kody wanted to move to LV -I think primarily because HE wanted to and partly because Robyn wanted to. The investigation was just the dramatic excuse.

      Delete
    2. I read that book they wrote and when they were describing the move and the reason for it. They were a bit dramatic. When I was reading about it for some reason it reminded me of the part in the movie Frankenstein when the townspeople came to lynch him. Shame on them for scaring those kids like that.

      Delete
    3. yes, we have considered here before it was all about Robyn validating Kody wanting to move there. Kody and Robyn are the "soulmates w/secrets" in this whole convoluted messy plural marriage. She's the sneaky one and the main supporter of King Kody so, yeah... it's not a stretch to think for one minute she didn't enjoy planning it all out with him. The drama itself was the script the writers created for us viewers. That's why none of it makes any sense.

      Delete
    4. That's funny about Frankenstein - as I read that polygamist families are fairiy common in Lehi! The only reasoning that makes sense is that kody wanted to move.

    5. In a previous job I was taught how to read body language. My friend and I decided to watch the Tell All again only to read the non-verbal cues and not listen to their words necessarily. If you watch it again, pay close attention to Robyn when they start taking about pre-martial sex/kissing/touching. When Christine was saying she absolutlely didn't kiss or touch Kody, Robyn begins twitching, her feet start moving nervously. She is telling the world she and Kodouche made some sexy time before marriage. She doesn't follow the rules, she makes her own. I believe she is the type of women that would totally get Kody to move for her!

    6. remember when they were planning Robyn's stupid family valentine surprise for Kody and she said she'd make something up to get his car? one of the other wives asked, "are you a good liar?" and she INSTANTLY responded w/an enthusiastic "YES!" and then immediately caught herself and said, "I mean no, not really" and threw her head down into her hands. BODY LANGUAGE to the max loud and clear.

we know she lied about the wedding dress to the wives. we know she lied when telling Meri, "i've been praying about being a surrogate ever since i first met you." we know she lied about not having a crib for any of her babies and not knowing why she didn't. we know she lied about her divorced mom keeping her marriage a honeymoon marriage the whole time. we know she lied about wanting a guitar for the last 10 years but couldn't afford one when she had $1000 alone written off on VS bankruptcy filing. on and on and on w/this manipulative liar.

Been lurking on the blog for a while... Love it!

Anyway, I LOVE reading these characters' body language! The nonverbal communication cues are the only real parts of the show. Especially when Choadie is obviously lying to avoid serious conversations with his wives and children. He always breaks eye contact, touches his face, ends conversations abruptly with forced face-grabbing kisses... It makes me sick! He's such a weasel! And Meri with that ubiquitous condescending chuckle! Don't even get me started on Robyn. Seriously, there could be a whole thread about their body language faux pas.

  7. What about this scenario: somehow their agent or whoever strikes a deal with the developer for a lease on the homes?
The market's got to be tough right now for new construction, maybe the builder got razzle dazzled by the show hype and will construct 4 and let them lease them.
The Brown Scam operation can proceed with lollipops and a double scoop of crazy and their fans can weep into their hankies that the family can be "united" at last.

Sound too complicated and stupid? For the life of me I can't see how they could pull off buying that much real estate.

    1. I'm not an expert but I used to do Customer service at Citi Mortgage. What I wonder is IF they do get them homes and the homes are newly built. I think the first year of taxes should only be based on the land so they should be manageable. But the year after that the tax amounts would be based on home and land and would go up a lot. Making it so they can't afford to live there.

    2. Not an expert either but LV still has years to go before they recover from the real estate bubble. I think they also have unemployment issues as well? And that doesn't help matters at all.

  10. This is off topic, but I find it interesting that the TLC/ Long Island Medium, who hasn't been airing too long, already is doing commercials for Priceline. Now the Browns have been on since 2010 & still no commercial endorsement offers for them. Guess they're not all that or marketable!!...lol
But, who knows since Weight Watchers is a sponsor ad for Sister Wives, maybe Janelle w/ get offered a deal from Weight Watchers. I sure hope she does, so she can get healthy & then just maybe her confidence & courage will soar high enough for her to leave Kody's sorry ass!!

    1. it would be great but i think Janelle's a stress eater to the max. Her whole life would have to be de-stressed in order for her to be committed long enough to be successful with weight loss. including w/Weight Watchers. She also needs to move more and i think she doesn't due to depression. again - stemming from her sucky home life situation she feels trapped in.

    2. Regardless as to whether one believes or not, a medium still is interesting and intriguing. I haven't seen that show myself, but Mrs. Caputo appears to be attractive, vivacious, with a sense of humor. Janelle is kind of attractive (I really don't think any of the wives are all that - Janelle has that puffy eye thing going on) but really does not appear to have much of a sense of humor or a TV personality. She's also not a big enough "star" for WW (or Jenny Craig, for that matter) to invest millions of dollars on an ad campaign. And lastly, she's a polygamist and as we can see even here on this blog, people are VERY divided in their beliefs on this practice. WW having a polygamist spokesperson would be way too controversial and do more harm than good. All this of course is IMO!

    3. That said...I would really like to see the wives and kids live a healthier lifestyle. I don't think Vegas was a good move for thefamilycoming from a physical health standpoint. LV is hotter than Lehi usually and there appears to be nothing within walking distance -a downtown area. Lehi is so green and i got the idea that they had good neighbors and friends there. Which is also important to physical health.
Not only isLV warmer, but it appears that the women are required to stay covered during the day, so they would prefer to stay inside with the AC. Not good.
The lack of regular physical exercise is literally killing the family. Looking at stills and clips from the first season, they all look healthier and happier. Meri said in the first ep that she liked to eat healthier than the other 2. Of course we know now that Meri has always sabotaged the other 2 but we didn't back then. I'm guessing now that was kinda BS to make her look superior to the other two. She clearly eats too many calories.
I doubt we will ever see them on Biggest Loser but Discovery Body Challenge (or Celebrity Fit Club) wouldbe more their level.

    4. The Long Island Medium is engaging and well-spoken and basically normal. None of the Brown clan are all that engaging or well-spoken on their own. Plus Kody doesn't allow the wives to be seen individually; they're either all together or he's with one or more of them.

I expect that Kody would only allow one of his wives to be a spokesperson if he got to be one, too - or even better, he'd be the only spokesperson. Most people aside from their followers can see that Kody is not all that. What company would want him representing them? Aside from LIV, that is.

  12. Meri, Meri, Quite ContraryJuly 8, 2012 at 10:28 AM

If they were smart, they would be pooling and saving their money and making good financial choices that are good for the whole family and not just the individuals. And yes, I feel that each one should get what they need based on their family size.

As for the houses, here is my thoughts on what they should do. Why don't they buy a couple acres of land in the country and put up 4 new modular homes? They could each choose one that suits them and even with a lot of extras and bells and whistles, they would still be much cheaper than $450,000 each. Modular homes are very nice and each wife could have her home customized to her needs and tastes. They could put up a high fence around the property and a gate at the driveway, so no one could get to them and it would be just like their own private gated community. This isn't rocket science Browns.

If they put the houses around the perimeter of the property, that would give everyone a private backyard and their own front and side yards as well. I would make one common driveway that goes from the front gate around the front of each home, in either a square or a circle, with each home having their own parking area and then I would make a large, community yard in the center. Like a courtyard design. They could then have one large pool, one large playground area and a large garden and picnic area. It could be quite lovely I think.

Each wife could design her home and front and back yards to her taste. Having all the fun stuff in one central location would also keep the kids in one area where they could be seen at all times from any house and no one would have to have kids trampling in and out of their "private" yard space because they have the trampoline, or the pool or the sandbox. They would be fenced off, so bike riding would be safe and each wife could have her private space while the kids have they own play area and could visit and interact with each other daily. This would make for an excellent place to host the kids friends as well. Think pool parties, birthday parties, picnics, BBQs and so forth.

As for the school district, why not homeschool? There are tons of great programs out there and they could do school online, with a pre-packaged curriculum, with a charter school or many other options. Limiting your home buying area to one school district is not fiscally sound, especially when having to purchase 4 homes instead of the usual one. School can be flexible, property is not, so I would be looking for the place that makes the most sense financially and then figure out school later. If Robyn's son needs special help, she doesn't work, so driving him to a school for that help shouldn't be a big deal. Kody doesn't work either, so why couldn't that be his job? Driving the kids to school and back each day. At least he would get to talk to most of them each day that way.

Everyone deserves nice things. Most of us only get what we can afford. They are no more entitled than anyone here, and in fact maybe less so because they sold out and chose the easy money, rather than working for it. I have more respect for those that get up and go work at a job each day and live within their means. The Browns could be set for life from this show, however, money seems to burn a hole in their pocket. My advice to them would be to get into something you can either pay cash for or put a lot down so you have a low payment and can manage once the money from the show stops. And it will stop, so be ready Browns!

    1. Sensible people would probably do just as you've suggested: Buy land out in the boonies (which it appears they don't have to go too far from where they're at right now), put up some modular homes, build a big ole fence around it all and call it a day.

Problem is, the Browns are not very sensible.

As far as homeschooling...with that group of adults the children would learn a lot more from the public school system (Sorry Christine). They have five adults that can drive kids to school. Better yet, Kody can trade in his Lexus for a used school bus. The wives can take turns driving each week.

You know, the more I think about it, I see why TLC scheduled My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding after Sister Wives - The Browns are an excellent example of a gypsy family, polygamist style!!

    2. Meri, Meri,

What you envision as their potential family "communal play, barbecue, swim area" is exactly what was in place in the show "Big Love." Exactly !!!
Each wife had her personally designed house where the back of each house opened to the common outdoor area in a courtyard effect.
All the children played together and the entire family could eat together if they chose.
Too bad the Browns either didn't watch BIG Love (and it would be very unusual if they didn't) or they simply now insist on a much more *celebrity* environment.

      CJ,
      I so agree with you.
Having the Gypsies airing right after SW is a perfect continuation of dysfunctional reality.

    3. This sounds ominously like a compound. Increased isolation might not really be good for this whacky bunch, headed by Krazy Eyes Kody who has his own weapons cache.

    4. Meri, Meri, your proposal is great! It's so much more fiscally responsible to buy a big plot of land and build some custom modular homes on it. It would be a lot cheaper and everyone would still get what they need (including Meri's "wet bar" or deck).

As CB says, it would be easy for one or another adult to drive the kids to school. I think that even buying a used school bus plus such a property and modular homes would be less expensive than the 4 McMansions they're currently planning to purchase.

Sadly, fiscal responsibility is not one of Kody's strong suits and since the decisions are made solely by him (the wives might get some input, he's the one that decides what gets done), they're going to go with the most expensive, least practical option. Once he gets an idea in his head, it appears that he's incapable of seeing any alternatives. Unfortunately, his inability to consider options and do what's best for the family's long-term future will saddle the family with crippling debt.

I feel for all of his kids that are victims of his narcissistic, selfish desire to look rich. He might want his kids to go to college but he won't be helping them go there. In some ways he's hindering their ability to go to college because of the way he's squandering the money.

  13. I read over some of the posts about the Darger family, so I googled them. What a difference in how they live! I realize they are all related (twin sisters and cousin), but it's interesting how the husband visits each wife's room every night and they live under one big house.

It's interesting to see the disintegration happening with the Brown family. I had to quit reading the book because the adulation for Kody was just too much!

My hope is that Janelle and Christine wake up and decide to move out on their own.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Cynical Jinx - yesterday you posted something about how Kody wanted Meri to have a 7 bedroom house because that way he can have more wives and Meri could just move to the room down the hall (obviously he doesn't know lover well enough to know that she isn't going to put up with that scenario.)

Kody is nowhere near being done collecting wives. The fact that we have heard that there are 4 homes with room for a fifth home, confirms to me (and also their new revelation that another wife is fine by Robyn, since that's what she signed up for per the Morales interview) that a fifth wife isn't too far away. Kody is already planting the seed (ewww..mental picture of that, sorry!)

As the women age and can't have more children (basically all but Robyn, Janelle and Christine have said they are done and I think Meri keeps saying she hopes it will happen naturally to keep Kody coming around), Kody will then start other marriages. Its pretty much the way the AUB works. More children for the kingdom.

Flash forward 15 years, IF they are still in these houses, they will have about 8-10 wives and their kids all sharing these houses. Although I think it would be highly unlikely they will be able to afford these houses either now or in the future

    1. Hi CPA Carol!

I based my comment on a TLC documentary about polygamy showcasing an 'anonymous' Centennial Park AZ family. The family included an older wife whose husband brought on two younger wives when her babymaking days were over. The entire family (16 kids plus 4 adults) all lived in a huge house with 10 bedrooms where the husband had his own "man cave" bedroom/office and each wife has her own bedroom suite. The kids all live dormitory style in the remaining rooms, grouped by age.

The fact Kody is wanting EACH of his houses to have 7 bedrooms, leads me to believe he will be bringing on more and more wives...whether he can afford them or not (kind of like Verlan LeBaron) and I don't think he gives a hoot what Meri or any other wife thinks about it.

If you're interested about this story, I believe there was an article with a film clip from the documentary here on SWB. The name of the documentary is Forbidden Love: Polygamy with Dawn Porter.

Here's a SWB article with a satellite picture of one of the largest Centennial Park mansions (and it is HUGE):

    2. Just went to this article. I hadn't found SW Blog yet when it was published, so it was a treat to read it now.

Cynical Jinx, You are the best !!!
Beyond this guy's actual story, your commentary about it was hilarious, as it is in all of your commentaries.

Reading about this guy in Utah and *his means* to pull off such a wild extravaganza makes one wonder if Kody has similar fantasies.

      Except for one thing....
This guy wisely insists on anonymity, while Krazy Kody insatiably craves notoriety.

    3. Thanks for the info, CJ! And I totally agree that Kody is becoming like Verlan LeBaron and he most certainly is nowhere close to being done with his number of wives. In the show where they were out with Mona in the street and Meri and/or the other sister wives said something about Meri not needing 7 bedrooms, Kody said something to the effect that "Don't I get a say in this?". The only valid reason he would get Meri 7 bedroom house is to fill it with another wife and kids down the road. In fact, it's pretty common for polygamists to move their families from house to house as they change sizes, so with Janelle having 3 teens that will presumably be out on their own within 5 years, it's very possible that he will put Janelle and Meri in a house together and then have a newer wife and kids move into that house. I think you are right, Kody doesn't care if the wives like each other or want him to get married again. He will said he was spiritually led to do it and they can take it or leave it. He doesn't care if any one of them leaves, he still has his planet.

  16. What is patently clear from the whole house buying scenario, is that the Browns have absolutely no intention whatsoever of ever returning to Utah, even though charges have been dropped and Utah has made it clear that they will only prosecute for polygamy if there are other crimes involved (and judging from history they don't even do that). Kind of makes Janelle and the others sound like liars. For instance, in her affidavit Janelle said "If the threat [were] lifted from our family we would feel free to finally return to Utah and would certainly resume our open participation in our religious community." She was also boo-hooing about having to leave their house where they could all live under one roof, and where the costs were so much lower."Because we are living in separate homes our monthly deposit and utility costs are also higher than in Utah." Ludicrous, under the circumstances, when they won't even consider a 4-plex but instead MUST have huge, separate luxury homes in a gated community with swimming pools, etc. etc! What makes this even worse is the interview with the family that shows Janelle laughing about the move and saying they had planned it for months because they really like Las Vegas and had wanted to move there for a long time. They are such liars!

Is she a complete idiot or what? "T_I_M_E" is one of the biggest problems with polygamy - the lack of time a man has for his children! On the other hand, if Mr K is neglecting everyone else to spend time with Robyn and her kids, it could make more sense. Too bad about the other 14 kids and 3 other women!

under one roof. They are all used to having their own space, and they don't even like each other. It is seriously doubtful that Meri and Robyn are BFFs now if they ever were.
If the adults had just stuck to actually going to the gym and exercising every day instead of designing undesirable jewelry, buying gifts for Kody he doesn't deserve, decorating a car with ridiculous valentines, running around vacant lots like an idiot, making and certainly eating all those mock recipes, they would all look and feel so much better. They still would not be desirable neighbors, friends, relatives, or acquaintances. I don't even know why I have spent so much time watching these people, but I have to admit I am very interested in watching all the behaviors exhibited and interactions which are fascinating. I feel like there is so much suppressed rage in that "family".

    1. Judging by the broken door frame in the background of one of the homes it looks like somebody didn't suppress the rage.
I grew up with 2 brothers who fought like demons but never saw a door frame broken unless there was somebody kicking it in.

What mother wouldn't immediately make the kids fix it, make a call to dad to fix that? What father wouldn't fix or get a repair person?
Kicking a door open enough to break the frame and chain lock took a lot of anger IMO.
Word to Browns, when you allow cameras in your home people will speculate.
I too think there are some "issues" in this family but definitely not suppressed.

      Delete
    4. I'd have called the landlord or property manager, I would assume their lease states that repairs to the property must be made or reported to the landlord, since they rent. Perhaps it was that way when they moved in? Or maybe the camera crew, while moving equipment in and/or out, caused the damage and they had to film before having a chance to repair.

  29. One thing to keep in mind is that the Browns still own - and presumably still paying the mortgage/insurance/taxes on - the Lehi house. Of course some of that mortgage is offset by whatever Meri's sis is paying in rent, but still they are required to list that on their loan application I would think, along with the rents they pay on the four current houses, which they will have to continue paying until the (presumed) new houses are built and ready to move into.

I think we can do away with the supposition/theory that TLC/F8Fs is assisting in any way to pay for these houses other than what the family is already getting for being on the show. I also doubt that the developer or whomever is so star struck that he is just going to take a risk on the family. If so, I guess the builder is a lousy businessperson or very very new.

  31. Thanks Mark, Britt and Elle Vee for taking the time to drive by the lots and give us a status update! It's nice to know this blog has people who live in that area that can keep us posted as to what is really going on. I worked for a builder for several years and if they had secured financing the subcontractors would be working and the builder would be pushing to get their work done. The builder, subcontractors, real estate agents don't get paid until the houses are built and the closing is complete. The lots should be excavated and plotted out if they planned to start construction anytime soon. Plus the builder and subcontractors would be obtaining building permits from the city. (I'm not sure if building permits are public data or not). If construction hasn't started it's because the Browns can't obtain any kind of financing!

It looks like the Browns are on vacation AGAIN!! WOW...that's all these people do.

    2. "Now we have lots of hints. What do you think?"

Until we see the names of the buyers on the other 8 lots (I'd hate to be that developer, it must be hell trying to sell those lots) I'm gonna say that, until we see differently, the developer/sales office and Mona the real estate lady have received a load of free advertisement courtesy TLC and the Sister Wives show. Especially if they are holding open houses.

Looks like we may not know for sure what's going on til next season...

    3. I'm a little confused with all the posts and I'm wondering if this is correct.

Lot 1 sold 3-28-12 and it's occupied by another family.
      Lot 2 ?
Lot 3-4 have homes on them but they are still for sale. (This could be the Browns' new homes if they can obtain some kind of creative financing like a contract for deed.)
Lot 5 has a home on it. Is this a model?
Lots 6, 7, 8, and 9 are sold, but we really don't know who purchased them. It could be another builder, the Browns or 4 totally different families. All I can say is if they are REALLY sold construction will start soon. Builders don't sit on vacant lots.

It should be interesting to see how this all plays out.

      Delete
    4. It is confusing!!

Lot 1 has been sold to another family
      Lot 2 has a home
Lots 3 and 4 are under construction.
Lot 5 is owned by a trust.
Lots 6,7, 8 and 9 are nothing but dirt, but are now sold

Now, according to Lobotomized's email received, the seller is also saying that lot 7 now has a completed home on it and lots 3 and 4 are still for sale.

There appears to be some confusion about lot 7, because it was confirmed in a driveby by Britt and Elle Vee over the weekend that lots 6-9 are still undeveloped.

So maybe the seller meant Lot 5 has a completed home???

I think you're right on the money now with your comment “If you ask me (and I know you're just dying to do just that...) I...believe the kids. Two of the houses have been built, two are under construction...perhaps in a different cul-de-sac.” Other posters have indicated different scenarios of how they will obtain financing and I think leasing, a contract for deed with a large down payment or using their family's entertainment business certainly fit. I think this is a case of bait and switch. I really don't understand the purpose. Grody made a "deal with the devil" when he signed up to do this show. People are going to figure out where they live. The film crew will be filming at their new homes. Maybe Grody plans to hire a 24 hour security guard for their private Brown compound. This family just gets more bizarre everyday. It will be interesting to see how the story line pans out. Will they bring up the fact that they're on different property? At any rate someone will be holding the bag after this show tanks. Anyone want to guess how long this show will continue?

Anon 8:32 that is the pit of the squishy overripe avocado that is the Sister Wives saga, HOW do they pay for it all, what kind of $$$ is TLC paying them (tip - more than likely not $75k x 5 per episode...) and of course when does the implosion happen? I know that's what I'm waiting for...that's the real reality of Reality TV and TLC is well aware of it - people want to see how it ends. If the Brown adults were more sympathetic, I could probably rustle up some empathy, but...nah.
      Here's the possibilities:
      1) the Browns and TLC/F8Fs are blowing smoke up our asses about having a snowball's chance in Vegas of getting those houses or ANY houses and nothing happens;
      2) the Browns miraculously qualify for some sort of insane financing, get into some type of insane balloon payment that they have no way of meeting, and then spend two years paying no mortgage or rent as they grind through the foreclosure process, while castigating the financiers for persecuting them for their beliefs (yeah right they just want their money...)
      3) they end up back in Lehi, the adults are sad but the kids are overjoyed to be among their friends again :-)

Guess what? They didn't. Sure they got contractors to work on the house for a song in exchange for "airtime" free advertising. But TLC did not pay a penny towards the house itself. Now that her show is over, Kate G. is in danger of losing the house and scrambling for ways to make that big paycheck again.

We will see the same thing here. The show will run its course and the Browns will sink back into the nadir they came from. I just hope the kids are ok. I have to say Hunter is my fav, probably because he's the misunderstood middle child just like me :-)

    3. When you said "I just hope the kids are ok", in some ways I think the older kids have had their eyes opened wide to the world that they have been cautioned about for their early years.
It's not filled with scary sharks. It's full of opportunity. It's also true that their father appears to be more greedy and conniving than most worldly non AUB person. It also appears that their mothers will say anything or perform like seals to get the glam life also.
At least these kids have been able to dip their toes in the outside world w/o being judged. They've heard many times from their parents..their life is their choice. Doubt they would have ever heard it so nicely 'back home'.
      The younger kids? Who knows?

  35. EVEN IF the next part of the season opens with Asshat moving an armful of lilac shirts into a brand-spanking new house, I'm not buying it. No matter how I try, I can't imagine how they could get financing for one $450K house, much less four. In fact, if they were still in Utah, with Janelle still working, I can't imagine that any lender would be so stupid as to finance a tricycle for them. This goes way beyond buying more house than one can afford. The 40% down scenario was the real story, I'm willing to bet. Dead end, in other words. They had to come up with another fantasy to keep the gullible coming back for more. They'd have to sell a hell of a lot of ugly jewelry to even pay the utility bills on four such houses.

Which might account for the reason to split this season into two parts, NachoMama.

So if the houses are dead issue, they have to come up with another hook... besides Kody courting a 5th, does anyone have an opinion what the next great Brown Family Fantasy will be?

    2. What they'd like:

      - Meri pregnant
      - Kody marrying a hot, young blonde he and Meri are very in love with
      - Mariah becoming a sister wife when she turns 18
      - Kody becoming a high roller in the MLM "company"
      - Getting a business/or a sucker to give Kody free money just because (since Kody wants money rolling in without doing anything for it, really).
      - Them winning a multi million jackpot in the lottery
      - King Kong getting hair implant surgery
      - Someone "charitable" stepping in and giving them the houses for free
      - Girls/Kids deciding they want to be plygs, too.
      - Kody cruising around in more expensive, highly tacky cars
      - Kody hanging around in his walled, private 4 house and a lot culdesac compound, complete with gate, cameras, etc and gold colored Kody Brown Family letters on top of that gate, and a tacky fountain in the middle of that culdesac
      - Kody taking one of his wives on a far far away luxury trip
      - Them getting a high payed endorsement for some stupid product
      - Them getting lots of interviews with only stupid questions

      What I'd like to see
      - Custody battle between David Jessop and Robyn.
      - Robyn's ex speaking up.
      - One of the celestial wives getting an extra"marital" affair
      - One of the wives leaving or threatening to leave (I say leave not divorce because they are not legally wed
      - Them opening up about their financial logic and their financial history
      - Them moving back to Lehi and getting that house totally remodeled, revamped and pimped up (450k can go a LONG way on that home)
      - Someone busting Kody for having an affair with a Vegas laydee
      - One of the kids, when off in college, writing a tell all book about his/her life (or having J or C write it).
      - hours of raw, uncut, unedited footage

      What we probably will see:
      - R & MGM going on and on with the "sergate" offer
      - Robyn pregnant
      - Some more getting the house drama, visits to the building site, moving woes, decoration woes, packing, moving things in their clunkers from their rental homes to their culdesac
      - Logan combining college with being his siblings father
      - Kody taking Robyn to a ... store and presenting her as his wife to the owner and then saying: "look at that ..., my other wife would love it" and then going on how he has FOUR wives.. I repeat FOUR wives and that he is a polygamist (shocking disgust face from owner.
      - Kody having a picnick with C&J and the kids, being lovey dovey with C and then ask someone else in the park if he/she has seen his wife, person points at C and he says no my OTHER wife my OTHER wife I am a plyg bladeebladeeblaa
      - Kody cruising around in that orange/brown/copper tackywagon and complaingin how HARD it is to keep up with all of his wives in all these houses so FAR from one another... (Not that he works/does anything, he has all the time in the world to cruise around)
      - Janelle and Christine keeping sweet
      - Robyn falling off of her cloud of wedding bliss (we got a preview of that in the interview)
      - Kody courting an ugly woman
      - Kody doing manly man things
      - Meri crying over her infertility
      - Them making up a stupid script like their Valentine's day thing

      Delete
    3. I think they will continue to draw out the Robin-surrogate drama as long as they can. (rolls eyes)

(I tried to log in as someone other than "Anonymous" but it said my credentials could not be verified???)

    4. I think Kody will begin to explore a singing career. He will start with the wardrobe, gravitating toward Vegas Elvis with the rhinestones and the cape. Robyn will play guitar and they will try to start an Osmonds/Brady Bunch singing group with the kids who can carry a tune. Purple jumpsuits all around. They will try to get gigs in the Vegas clubs for the "Family" crowd singing classics like "Sunshine Gay" and "I ain't nothing but a Horn Dog"

Or maybe Kody will try to get a local Native American tribe to open a Mormon Friendly casino with an ice cream bar and electronic poker machines.

Perhaps Kody will take up Irish Dancing with the entire brood and challenge Michael Flatley for title of Lord of the Dance. They could go on America's Got Talent. Start with the little kids, and then gradually add in the teens...when the music really gets hopping, Janelle and Christine can come out for solos, hopping around on their tippy toes, and when the line reforms, Kody can come prancing in with his own flourishes wearing lavender tights and a bare chest with his hair flowing behind him carrying a flowing pennant with a worm and paw print insignia on it.

  36. I am on the fence about whether to conclude that Kody really believes he can get these houses, or whether he is just seeing how far he can take "the greatest show on earth"

I keep thinking of the Seinfeld episode where George took Susan's parents to see his nonexistant house in the Hamptons…

    ReplyDelete
  37. Love the Seinfeld reference. At least George knew and admitted that he was a shallow scammer. Unfortunately not so with Kodouche and krew. It is fascinating that people like the Browns and the Gosselins don't understand how reality tv works, or even tv in general. How many former tv stars are out there doing regular work for regular wages, and wishing they had seen the gravy train pulling into the station (the end of the line...get off now). Anyone who didn't save most of their money from a multi year tv deal has only themselves to blame. This family is a bunch of parasites.

    1. I can MAYBE cut Kate G. a break, since she was kind of the test case per se for TLC. I think she believed it would be like the McGaughey multiples or the Dionne Quints, that fans would remain interested in the family all the way through high school, college, marriage, etc etc etc. However, I think that the fascination with multiples has ebbed since unlike the Dionnes, they don't happen naturally anymore - it's done artifically for the most part. I personally get a bit of a feeling of disgust, myself. Octomom I think pretty much killed the public's interest in multiple births - IMO of course. Anyway, it's not such a huge deal. However, Kody must be aware of the Gosselin implosion - he works for the same production company F8Fs for crying out loud - but probably the way his mind works, he thinks the show is going to be like the loaves and the fishes...never ending...since he's entitled, don'tcha know.

  40. Does everyone think that they are REALLY going to get 4 new homes?
I thought mortgage companies had to stop predatory lending. Having bought our house 2 years ago I cannot believe anyone would approve a mortgage for the Browns......and 4 mortgages? No way. Am I wrong in this thinking? We had to provide so much documentation including stable work and salary history. Not MLM, shady online jewelry, or different businesses every 6 months.
TLC money will not last. They surely cannot get mortgages listing TLC money as steady income for years to come. I don't think TLC would fund these clowns either. They are just preparing for the eventual train wreck.
Honest answer; do you guys really think they will move into new houses when the season resumes?
Thank you to all my fellow bloggers. I love, love, love this blog! Great job to all.

    1. I think the fact that they were asked to put down 40% takes the mortgage out of the predatory lending zone into the non-traditional zone. Truth be told, this type of loan is most likely for the person with horrendous credit, but if they demonstrate they have the means to pay, as long as they make their payments on time, (and because they have 40% equity) they may be able to qualify for a more traditional loan. Its kind of like those credit cards for people with bad credit so they can reestablish themselves. It could be seen as a win-win for the lender, didn't the loan officer say it was an interest only? So the lender STILL makes money off the deal. If the Browns default, they lose their 40% downpayment - but the Browns are kind of dumb so who knows, they might just walk away if they can't make their payment rather than getting a real job to keep making the payments and qualify for a more traditional loan!

  41. While I understand it does not fit the definition of predatory it feels "predatory" because it is "preying" pn those who do not understand the full extent of the process. The lender does win here and the Browns will lose. Then all of us will have to pay for them once again.
But do you think they will really get the houses?

    1. Hi 2004AUmom !

The Browns know exactly what that initial loan offer meant, that's why they have (according to the show) decided to put the $5Kx4 earnest money down to hold the 4 lots while they try to find better financing.

Now, of course this is pure conjecture on my part, it suddenly dawned on me(again) that the leases are up on the rental houses in December-January. Based from what I've seen photographed from the show, some of those houses have taken a mighty hit from all those kids (particularly Christine's with the broken door, and Janelle's with the scruffed up paint and who knows what other damage, plus there was the rumor (TMZ?) that the home owners association wanted a wife to be evicted (no reason given). I'm thinking maybe their landlords didn't renew their leases, thus Kody's got to find new places pronto. So for drama, they are making this mad dash for housing ASAP. It's almost the way they handled the Browns sudden run from Utah.

Anyway, I'm thinking the Browns have hooked up with a developer, who's got 4 houses together that they need to do something with (before it goes back to the back) so...the developer will lease the houses to the Browns for the duration of the show on TLC. Just like the other reality shows do...So the audience will be led to believe these are houses the Browns are "buying", the developer has income on houses standing vacant and unsold. Come to think of it, isn't this what Mona the real estate lady proposed to Kody when he first went looking for housing in Vegas - the only way to find 4 houses together?

So I won't be surprised if this story arc continues, with the cliff hanger being Kody looking at the camera, with tears in his eyes, and in an emotion filled voice saying, "The landlords did not renew the leases on two of our houses. We have 30 days to find homes or we will be homeless! >choke<

And in the next season, we'll see the Browns moving into their new homes (in a new culdesac mind you)...and of course the audience will assume the Browns found legitimate lenders for the mortgages. The truth, however, will be that the homes are being leased. And if they film at the right angles, these houses may even resemble the culdesac homes we saw this year, so the rabid gullible fanbase will think the Browns DID purchase the culdesac lots 6-9.

    2. Thank you CJ!
I think I'm getting tired of the Browns and TLC ( mostly TLC) thinking we are buying their load of you know what!

  42. You can look up the real property owned by anyone by first and last name or by parcel number of the lots.

This is the link for the look-up feature of the Las Vegas Tax Assessor. I don't know the wives' individual last names or I would look them up.

  43. The Browns were originally in 18-month leases in their rental homes. If they left Lehi in January, and spent 30 days in the rental homes, then their leases began approximately March 1st. That means their leases would be up at the end of August.

Also, I pulled their mortgage documents and they are considerably upside-down in their Lehi house. Between their first mortgage and the additional home equity loan (both in Janelle, Kody, and Meri's names), they owe approximately $200k more than the house is currently valued. They couldn't sell the house without taking a huge loss, which explains why they've held on to it. They also can't get another home equity loan to add on to the house for Robyn and her kids, as there is no equity left in the home.

If they're renting out all three "apartments" in the home, they might be showing enough rental income to offset the exhorbitant payments for the mortgage and home equity loan, but I doubt that they're making anything in the way of a profit.

    1. Hi, all. I just found this blog today so I really don't know if someone might have already come up with this theory or even how valid it is (I don't have any facts to back it up). My thoughts are that the family will not get financing or the fancy houses. I think they will, instead, suddenly end up with the bright idea that Utah was where they should have stayed. They will go back to the Utah house they already own, fix it up, maybe add another apartment for Robyn, yadayada, happily ever after. I understand everyone's thoughts about Kody's narcissism and can see your point and maybe you're right that he will not leave Vegas, but eventually reality will put a stop to all the nonsense and I feel like this show is going down fast- like, possibly this is it's last season. Any thoughts?

  44. The Kody wives' self-esteem seems to vary from a -3 to a -5. Emotions like jealousy are ingrained and necessary for survival. It's threatening financially, emotionally, socially etc. and puts the kids' lives and the relationship in jeopardy. Christine squeaks out his baby, he's so selfish he doesn't show up, he's dating Robyn. The other 2 wives should have ragged on him and put him to shame but they're locked in competition with each other. These women need to get really angry and change. Get him washing dishes, changing diapers, caring for his home and kids like a father. He's a free loader, they're slaves. He just flits off to Robin wearing that immature smirk on his face, and ignores the kids, chores, and wives. He doesn't play with his kids. talk to, and barely notices them. Yet the wives choke back their emotions and pretend they're OK while seething and eating another bowl of that slop fake pudding. The whole family has the cult mentality with the exception of some of the kids. The kids and other wives needs are ignored. The only right the wives have is a sicko congugal visit every 4th night. Big deal. The prancing gigolo doesn't respect them. They service him like common mares when he decides. Robyn's just his toy. It's his way or no way.
