ADDED Pics!! TLC tackling controversial FLDS

Yes, we've know about these for a long time. Flora Jessop called me herself a good 6 weeks ago. the other has Sam Brower involved, and hope to talk to him to!

Watch “Breaking the Faith” on Sunday, November 24th and “Escaping the Faith” coming this December on TLC.
 _____________

Imagine my surprise when, popcorn and coke in hand, jammies on and ready to chill - I was sitting down to watch a movie with the family late one Sat. night 6 weeks ago when  on my facebook I had a message: CALL ME IMMEDIATELY, Flora Jessop.

I've emailed Flora several times and have become loving email friends with her  very good friend, K. Dee Ignatin. Imagine though, a message like that! About made this little ole gal about... "Kody in my pants."  I instantly became 12.

Shaking a bit, I nervously ask myself.. "What did I do wrong?" (I always assume that, thanks to my mother's neurotics)  I had emailed her earlier in the summer wanting some genealogy in which she graciously helped me, but... what could it be?

I call. "HI!" says Flora. Let me start by saying this. Talking to Flora Jessop is like talking to your old best friend from your neighborhood growing up. Warm, gracious, sweet, funny kind, like you have known her forever.

Flora goes on to tell me about the new shows, specifically hers. "I want you to tell all the Sister Wives Blog folks about it!"  she says.

Now - next we get off subject for a bit, and I'll just say, she is one lady full of FACTS. we talked for a good hour.

Next, right when I am getting to the questions about the show.. all hell seems to be breaking loose for Flora. I get the feeling that this is life for the ambitious lady. I hear all sorts of commotion. "Here's a bag of clothes for your children" I hear her say, while people are coming and talking to her, all the while she is talking to you. Doors slamming things going on. Next, Someone is telling her that they need to be getting ready to go.

Flora hollers "Got my guns?" "Make sure you have my __ and my __ guns!" she hollers....MY! I feel like I am experiencing a James Bond movie!!  So much going on, I tell Flora - you go, let me call you later. I am no writer, but the tension and emotion was palpable. I couldn't sleep, wishing I was along for the ride.

Since then, I have held my tongue and will continue to until the time is right. For every thing I tell, there's a thousand I don't. Flora told me to go ahead and tell you all, but my gut said no. After watching Papa Joe Darger make a huge boof this week, glad I did. I have meant to get back with Flora but know she has been out filming.  So, my bad in a way for not calling her back and asking if it was ok to post. I just hate to bug these folks, you know? Will be telling much more very soon!

So, Cara Curfew-Kociela, who I think is becoming our newest little helper, asked Buster Johnson, Dist. III Supervisor for Mohave Co., AZ (More about him HERE) if SWB could use his pictures of the recent filming of Flora's show. Here they are thanks to Buster and thanks to Cara! Buster Johnson is that cutie posing with Flora! You may click to enlarge these or any pictures here on Sister Wives Blog. Enjoy!

TLC will blow the lid off the controversial FLDS with two new reality shows premiering later this fall.
“Breaking The Faith” and “Escaping the Prophet” will both deal with FLDS (Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) — whose followers practice polygamy — and, by extension, with Warren Jeffs, its ex-president who’s serving life in prison for sexually assaulting two young girls.
The six-episode “Breaking The Faith,” premiering Nov. 24, focuses on eight young men and women — who left FLDS by force or by choice — and who are now trying to rebuild their lives.
The young men are known in FLDS circles as “lost boys” and have been exiled from their homes, with no hope of returning. The women, according to TLC, “are escaping the controlling ways of the cult — including arranged marriage and a life of complete submission, known as ‘keeping sweet.’ ”

The polygamist communities of FLDS are widely known for the former leader Warren Jeffs, who is now serving life in prison for sexual abuse of two minors. Many believe that Jeffs continues to preach and set rules for FLDS members while incarcerated.

“Breaking the Faith” and “Escaping the Prophet” are set to premiere this fall, unveiling the lives of those living in FLDS communities, where many continue not to question authority, participate in arranged marriages and have little contact with the outside world.

  1. I'm floored and also very happy to hear that TLC is planning something that sounds like a responsible exploration of polygamy. I'll wait to see exactly how they edit these programs, just in case. If they do it correctly, I guess I'll have to retract what I have called TLC: "Trifling Lite Crap".

Thanks for this new info, Mister Sister!

    1. I agree with you about the edit, but also worry about the content in general. I hope TLC takes a realistic approach, rather than how they've handled other shows of a similar nature like Breaking Amish, which is clearly scripted.

Trifling Lite Crap is right. I remember somebody once referring to TLC as "The Lying Channel" and it's stuck with me ever since.

  2. Interesting - this just proves (to me anyway) that TLC doesn't give a rat's ass about the Browns, other than for ratings. While others here feel that TLC/F8F gives the Browns a sympathetic edit, I have a different opinion on that - especially this season. The panel edit made the Browns look bad/uninformed/etc. and showing Robyn chewing her lip, picking shit out of her eye, etc...the closeups of Meri's ever-widening ass...Kody's shiny bald spot...to me this is definitely the Kate Gosselin Arc...make them look bad because it's SO very good for ratings, and the Brown cheerleaders will be pro-Brown no matter what.

    1. TLC doesn't give a rodent's hindquarters about anything but making money. That is something they have in common with the Klown family.

I thought the the Klowns came off bad in the panel interview as well but TLC tried to twist the perspective by showing the audience nodding in agreement after everything the plygs said.

I no longer look at whomever is speaking, I watch the rest of the Klown troop. Their expressions and body language are very telling. Such animosity towards one another. And so much picking!

I'm torn between Janelle and Christine for who's gonna snap first. One of them is going to lose it.

I'm so glad to see that TLC is going to show REAL information about polygamy instead of just the Klown show.

      Delete
    2. Why do you think Janelle is going to snap. I feel she is pretty strong. She goes to exercise by herself, writes a blog about her weight loss progress, and said that she likes being separate in her own house. I have a different opinion of Janelle than you and would like to know what you base your opinion on. (Not being snarky.) She worked in Utah, but I don't know whether any of the adults in the family could bet a job because of the publicity of Sister Wives.

    3. Dakota Justice, you're SO spot on & real. This description made me laugh. Well said.

      Delete
    4. If the snapping in question is between J and C my bet will be on Christine. How much disinterest and disrespect can this woman take in the name of religion?

      Delete
    5. I don't think Christine and Janelle will snap, not as long as the TLC money is coming in.
Bottom .line....they can't afford to leave that well as long as it is flowing.

Christine is obviously in personal inner hell. It is becoming more and more apparent how fragmented she is becoming.
And it is ironic that Christine is the wife who has been more indoctrinated to the plyg philosophy than any of the others and seems to want it to continue, yet appears to be the least able to cope with it.

      Delete
    6. Glad to hear there is a possibility of TLC showing poligamy from a different point of view, we will see.
I also believe Christine is an event away from a total meltdown. Her sadness is so intense I can feel it just watching her. Krody's blatant dislike and total disrespect of her leads me to wonder if on top of her pain, she fears not getting called to planet Krody. She is the one who has drank the plyg kook aid forever. (I meant to say kool aid, iPad correction nailed that one) If she is called to the planet, her eternity would be miserable, a no win situation for her. So sad, she has 6 children that depend on her.

  3. How on earth are the Browns going to manage this betrayal from their very own network??

They are quite busy as it is, personalizing, being offended, and defending everything that is stated or exposed regarding polygamy....they never knew men could be such bastards. Me thinks they are going to be one sorry bunch when their very own network is getting ready to insult and offend.

You think they cry a lot now? Hang on to your tissues.....

    ReplyDelete

    1. GREAT point. They were so offended by the anti-polygamists on the panel, and now their own network is airing shows from former plygs. I wonder how they feel about this. And if they've finally gotten the wake-up call that the world of reality tv is harsh and unforgiving. TLC isn't going to pay for your McMansions, pedis and fancy cars forever...

      Delete
    2. Wow, the Browns have got to be unhappy, they can't even handle a oanel discussion without a full blown meltdown. Imagine how persecuted they feel now. And I agree that TLC is slowly starting to give them the Jon and Kate treatment...we are starting to see all the ugly little things that TLC wants us to see...and it's not pretty....Hopefully Christine can tune into the FLDS shows and get a real feel for how bastardly some men can be. (I never believed that load of bull from her anyhow.). It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

    3. CPA Carol,

You said, ". . . TLC is slowly starting to give them the Jon and Kate treatment...we are starting to see all the ugly little things that TLC wants us to see..."

I think TLC is finally starting to SHOW things that those of us on SWB have been seeing and commenting on for a long time. Really, it makes more sense to provide programming that will appeal to well-educated, articulate people who probably have more to spend on sponsors' products. That's got to be a better idea than pleasing sheeple whose most common comments are: "We love the beautiful joolry Cody, Mary, and Robin have for sale, but I will need to save up my (welfare?) money to buy something. I want to be their 5th wife!!!"

Tick, tick, tick Brown family. We're at the 14.5 minute mark of your 15 minutes of fame.

      Delete
    4. That's what happens when u sell ur soul to the devil like the Browns did. TV 'fame' comes with a hefty price & sacrifice, which the Browns will definitely find out. I truly hope they were blindsided by this great move by TLC. Oh I would've love to seen all of their reactions when they found out...lol Wonder if they'll(Brown's) be tweeting to their fans to tune in & watch their new 'friends' on TLC? I'm thinking probably not!!

      Delete
  4. Great news - although I suspect the Klowns will just tweet about how they are so vastly different from the FLDS exposed in these new shows. It will be up to us on SWBlog to keep connecting the dots and show how the difference is merely in degrees.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Exactly....the Browns will spin and BS the tweets any way that works for them.

Plus, they have sold their souls for the cash anyway.
Realistically, they seem oblivious to actual "issues" that are outside of their own greedy plyggy world. They only play the morally outraged card when they need to pump or pimp their image.

      Delete
    2. Watch how quick their personal appearance deals dry up and their jooolry business tanks when their popularity dips after TLC is fully saturated with plyg shows. My guess is TLC is hoping the Williams will get their feet wet this coming season, prove their acting mettle and then the Klowns will be cut loose. I agree with whomever posted here recently that they wished the show got cancelled because they just don't deserve all the financial gain from it.

      Delete
    3. i thought the Browns were boring on their special. wonder what "reality" drama will be cooked up to make them interesting enough for a series now.

      Delete
    4. sorry, i meant the Brady Special was boring - not the Browns. (although the browns have definitely gotten boring with the same old predictable drama each season.)

    1. TLC is no fool.
Obviously, Polygamy sells.....for now !!! So they are riding it hard.

Wouldn't it be nice to believe that they are into it for the moral reasons??

    2. If you research who the head of TLC is and which political causes she and her wife support, you'll find that morality and TLC are not two words that can be used in the same sentence.

    3. Big Ups, which political causes are you talking about? And are you talking about Nancy Daniels or Amy Winter?

  8. News items like this are proof of the lack of knowledge about the FLDS. The writer of the Story for the New York Post, Michael Starr called Warren Jeffs the FLDS Ex-president... he is in fact the current prophet... self proclaimed but prophet nun the less... even the TLC page calls him "former leader" when he in fact still rules his flock from his jail cell.

It will be interesting to see how truthful they really are with the editing. Since they are FINALLY showing the true side of this terrible world I hope they dont let us down.

    3. I'm still so confused as to how the "Don't Mess With Texas" state allows Jeffs to still have the outside control and contact he still gets to have with his followers. I mean impotent Utah i could understand but TEXAS??? Must be some loophole in the Texas prison system that he's got them by the gonies with.

      Delete
    4. Anon 3:57, I don't understand Texas allowing that to happen either.

FYI, "Don't Mess With Texas" is a slogan for the anti-litter campaign in Texas.

      Delete
    5. Anony 4:28 p.m. - that's initially how it got started but soon spread into all things Texas Proud! I've even seen some cop ads that used to use it re:criminal arrests there. anyway, here's what wiki explains re:it which i've found to be quite true there.

"Beyond its immediate role in reducing litter, the slogan became a Texas cultural phenomenon and the slogan has been popularly appropriated by Texans. Though the origin of the slogan is not well known outside of Texas, it appears on countless items of tourist souvenirs, the phrase is actually a federally registered trademark; the department has tried at times to enforce its trademark rights with cease and desist letters,[2] but has had very limited success.[3] The phrase "Don't Mess with Texas" is a frequently cited example of pride in Texas culture."

    6. Mister Sister - Jeffs is incarcerated at the Louis C. Powledge Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice near Palestine, Texas. He will be eligible for parole consideration on July 22, 2038.

    7. He is in jail in TX. He is under 24 solitary because of the threat to his life by the other inmates. One of the "rules" was that he could not call the church house or call a cell phone #. He got caught calling a home phone # that was right next to the church and they used a very long cord and put him on speaker phone so he could preach to his cult. So, they took that away too. He has resolved to writing his orders and mailing them to the gov and to his people as well as giving it to his attorney. He has also made tapes while in meetings with his lawyer and then they are played for his followers. The sad thing is, there is nothing that can really be done... He has the right to meet with his lawyer and that is confidential.

I just wish they would let him out into gen population for a day...

    2. I just watched the short video about Lydia, the midwife. I wonder if she's still working in this capacity? What a diabolical, miserable wretch! It's time for her to be solidly whacked by the karmic boomerang.

I've got to wonder if Lydia ever had her own children? I hope not. I'd hate to think of children growing up w/ an evil mother like her.

    3. Lydia died. I read Flora's book and she talked about going back to spit on her grave. Lydia indeed was a wretched human being.

    4. I think that Lydia couldn't have children because Uncle Fred was sterile so Flora's mother had to give most of her girls to Aunt Lydia after she gave birth. Flora talks about her sisters living at Uncle Fred's house. Her book is breath taking. I couldn't put it down. If anyone has "risen through the ashes like a Phoenix" it is Flora NOT Sobbyn.

    5. i cried and got literally sick to my stomach at times reading Flora's book. It's a very difficult gut-wrenching read to get through but so important that she wrote it. Had a great letter at the end from the LDS mainstream church turning her down for help because they don't want to get involved in the polygamy issue. VERY TELLING!

  10. Happy to hear this. I wonder if any of the Brown wives (other than Robyn) have been approached to be in an a series to learn how to become strong, independent women. Featuring Willy, Kollene and Kristen Decker as guides...

It would continue the gravy train for the escaping Brown wives while Kody and Robyn fade away on their planet.

It is very apparent TLC reads SWB with gusto!

  11. Flora Jessop's book," Church of Lies," is incredible. She is a badass is all good ways! I went to her book signing a few years ago in Tempe AZ. She is one who is not afraid of the old creepy men. She went thru a hellish childhood, but came out of it ready to take on the perverts of the world. So looking forward to this show, to expose this "religion" for what it is. Abuse and pedophilia.

    2. I posted before that a show staring Janelle, Christine and all their children's escape would be great. It would need to include counseling for all and NO script. It seems obvious that once TLC is done using people, they are fine to sit back when their lives implode. Most IMHO need and should receive counseling when the gravy train wrecks end. It should be provided by TLC.

  14. Is anyone else not the least bit surprised by this?

I think getting access to the FLDS and showing life inside the group has been TLC's end game all along... Correct me if I'm wrong, but everything in the media, so far, about the FLDS has been from the perspective of ex-members. We rarely see footage of people leaving the community, so instead we only get the story once they've escaped. It sounds like TLC is going to introduce a whole new narrative/perspective by showing life in the community and what Flora's rescue missions entail. Sure there's been some documentaries, but TLC is poised to show us everything in America's favorite format... 30 minute-1 hour TV shows.

Working with the Browns, Dargers, Williams, and whatever other families we don't know about, has been for the purpose of establishing a foothold in, and gaining respect and the trust of the broader polygamous community. I bet TLC has had this idea ready to go for awhile, and now that interest in polygamy has peaked TLC is ready to show the trump card and rake in the $$$ I think Flora does some truly incredible work. I just hope TLC actually aims to show the truth and not just exploit it.

    5. The part of "talking about the religion more" that is making this blog great IMHO lately, is that there is an honest recognition that LDS ARE NOT the only mormons. For a while, there were a few LDS on here, calling the Browns apostates (which is no better to me than the fundies calling the LDS apostates. There is finally honest recognition that the big LDS is a tarp, which protects the fundies politically and legally--regardless of what they publicly tell nevermos. AND THAT THE BIG CHURCH IS NOT INTERESTED IN HELPING ESCAPEES! Christine Marie is a good example of the new honesty.

    1. I think TLC has people that read here and other blogs that touch on the show. When checking the pulse of this site and others, I think TLC saw that there is /was growing disillusion with the Sister Wives show and their view that they are the "face of modern polygamy".

I have to wonder if that is part of what caused them to decide to make these shows we heard about today. If so, I think that's awesome. They need to realize that people aren't buying what the Browns, the Dargers and even the Williams, are selling.

    2. Great point Anon - TLC did virtually no promotion prior to it starting up, and then ran the 2 part finale opposite the Emmys?!

  19. After watching Sister Wives I've come to the conclusion that they aren't in polygamus marriages for the sake of religion. They're in it because it's what they want to do. It might have started off for religious reasons, but that went by the wayside a long time ago. After they got their 15 minutes of fame everything changed. You can tell that by watching the very first episode and comparing it to the last episode.

The network could go find any guy that runs back and forth between all his baby mamas and it would be no different. Kody doesn't support these women and kids, just like those other guys don't support their women and kids It's just that these women call the other women "sister wives" and live in a cul-de-sac where they can watch out the window and see who he happens to be with that night.
I hope they don't think they've made their lifestyle seem appealing because they've done quite the opposite. I try to have an open mind, but I am more convinced than ever that polygamy isn't a lifestyle that makes ANY sense. It's a way for men with overblown egos to get their egos fed, and it's a shame that women have allowed themselves to be maniuplated into thinking it's anything other than that!

    1. Great post! My sentiments exactly!

      Delete
    2. Sadly, I do think they are absolutely in it for religion. The kicker is that they have pretty much been forbidden by the AUB to disclose any information which exposes the depravity of the religion. They were obviously encouraged to call it a "lifestyle choice"; this takes the heat off the AUB specifically. We all know that they are regularly seen in Lehi, and their cars are often spotted parked by the ordinance house (thanks to both SWB spies and rabid fans/stalkers who report sightings in various locales); they are clearly still active, which means they are tithing regularly. I think their lack of religiosity (Kody's feigning ignorance of doctrine at the panel) is a cover to protect the religion. That's only my opinion, of course.

      Delete
    3. I don't think they are in it for the religion, if they were, their children would be a little bit more into it and by that I mean...when they attempt to show a "home church service" the kids would look like they have some sort of interest...they don't. Or maybe when Tamron Hall ask 6 of the older children if a "plural lifestyle" is for them....more than 1 would raise their hand. They just don't have any spiritual feel about them...they say things that kind of may be considered spiritual, but put their foot in their mouths or contradict. If this was a serious religious family, their kids would have a bit more respect for it and its values....no fault of the kids at all, the parents have just not influenced them enough religiously because they are not. Too busy hot trotting around Vegas and California to stay home and be an example.

    4. Totally agree. I think when you scrape off the veneer, the flds culture in particular, is similiar to an urban culture of prostitution with the pimp daddies passing their women back and forth, forming factions, pushing out rivals. I'm not sure how people leaning of religion can justify having sex with so many men. Or only being with one man for decades then just going over to the next. Or marrying your stepson.

      Delete
    5. We've all heard about Logan doing the lecture circuit for Principle Voices. The kids attend public schools, universities, and live in an environment where they do not have a hell of a lot of plyg company--and everything they do is on TV for all the world to see. They are intentionally creating an image to destroy the idea of the mindless cult followers. We also actually know that the adults all have siblings who do not practice polygamy, and that they are still close.

Having attended a VERY conservative evangelical christian university,I know that almost every single one of my "non-religious" friends are now church elders, lay preachers, sunday school teachers. Almost All of the women who thought they were feminists at 22 are now women who are not allowed to read scripture or pray in a mixed group--that includes ANY baptized male, even if he's 9 years old.

    6. I think the men eventually get addicted to the sex. For a guy, having numerous women trying to outperform each other to keep him interested in her as the favorite wife is a dream come true. (On the surface, of course we know it really creates a big Hell of the highest order for the neglected wives and children.)

However, in order to keep a ready supply of gullible young women at the ready to use for their lust, the men have to use the religion to brainwash the girls. And it seems like the women who are coming out are saying, "Yes, I really believed this and did it because I believed that this is how God would save my soul."

    7. At Anon 9:55 - I think this is huge. After reading the reports of Warren Jeff's masturbation problem (hope I'm allowed to say that) in prison, it makes sense that these men are becoming sex addicts. They are using sex to cope with the stresses of this way of life/religion...just like the women use food - I seems like the the issue of obesity is very commone with polygamist women

  20. Hi Everyone,

I have been privileged to know Flora, and to count her as one of my best friends for years now. In 2009 I took her on a 16 city book tour of the state of Texas, meeting social workers, law enforcement, foster parents and lawyers who had dealt with the YFZ children during the short time they were in our state's protective custody. She is an amazing woman and a true friend. I'd like to thank everyone here for the willingness to listen to the brave survivors of American polygamy, which I am utterly convinced is the equivalent to slavery in our own time.

    1. What a great example Boots. I think comparing polygamy to slavery is the perfect way to describe it. I think you will find most, if not all, of the posters here are very interested in further education about polygamy. We often talk about which books we've read, what we've thought and have taken great interest when one of the people that have escaped polygamy comes to talk to us here.

Thanks for coming to talk to us, please feel free to come back often!

    2. Yes, great post Boots! And totally agree that polygamy is a type of slavery for the women and children.

  21. Awesome news!! So happy to hear about the new shows coming to TLC. Finally the bad & sad truths about polygamy will be shown to America. I really hope the Brown 'fans' will be watching so that maybe their blinders will be lifted & Possibly no longer routing for the Brown Klowns. Resulting in the loss of many Brown fans!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. oh that would be delicious, but my guess is that the fans will parrot the Brown line of "we aren't like THEM, they're the bad guys, we're the good guys..."

    2. Yes, it would be the right time for TLC to get their heads out of their faux-reality show asses and jump on this chance to actually be *The Learning Channel* again.

They may lose a few diehard green goo Brown-koolaid guzzlers along the way, but those folks wouldn't budge if Jeffs himself made a guest appearance in the koddle-sac.

But if they do it right ,with integrity, TLC will surely pick up even more fans who will appreciate true "reality," especially on such an urgently critical societal outrage.

And they will pacify the vast number of fans who are tried of being duped and insulted by the lame duplicity of Kody and his harem. Sure, leave their show on, who cares.
As long as TLC is bankrolling them, my (and your) taxes won't be.

  24. I Stopped looking for TLC for the truth a long time ago. I am pessimistic that we will get it even in the future. They have turned into the trash channel and yes the shows that our bloggers envision would turn that station back around, I will reserve my kudos until later.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I wonder, too....if TLC is as well exhausted with the effort of trying to manufacture all the drama. Well, exhausted might not be the right word...they are making a bundle....

While I'm sure the browns are polite enough to work with, I just can't figure out if TLC has been the manipulators of all of this, and the Brown collective IQ hasn't been high enough for them to realize and WHAM, here they are now, in what appears to be big old mess.

Oh we'll, it's been said they've sold out....and I guess they really have, and just not smart enough along the way to attemp some consistency.

  26. I've read Flora's book and even seen her speak. Doubt this pistol of a tiny thing would allow her show to become any joke. I bet her show is hard hitting and factual.

The other show sounds a bit different. I hope it's not like a Breaking Amish show.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm really happy about this news but I do have to be honest, I wish they would do the Kingston group or something. I wanna see the FLDS because it fascinates me, but the public seems to only think that abuse happens in the FLDS and not other groups. The Browns use that as their defense why polygamy should be decriminalized/legalized. I don't even think the public knows other groups exist outside of Utah and Texas.

However, it is a step in the right direction so I guess I shouldn't be too hard on TLC. At least they are showing something other than King Kody and his flock. This was well written Mister Sister. As always, thank you for all you do. That goes for Cara as well.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i agree Anony 7:30 about only the FLDS abuses being known and shown. Especially since the Browns, Dargers, Centennial Park all proclaim themselves to not be like the FLDS. I'm not saying that there is or isn't outright physical/sexual abuse in those communities but i do think there's inherent emotional abuse w/all religiously mandated polygamy. It's soul crushing to say the least. But yeah - let's at least spotlight the history/ongoing abuse of the Kingstons (Doris and Kolleen's group) as well as the Allreds (Christine's group. ) Enough already about nothing but the FLDS being the bad plygs! Let's show how abusive they ALL are! The FLDS are too easy to pick on and even with all the exposure of them - Utah still lets them continue to operate business as usual and on the taxpayer's hard-earned dollars! blech!

I am looking forward to the Escaping the Prophet series. Flora Jessop has made it her life's work to help those who can't help themselves.

As for Breaking the Faith, you have to forgive me, but I am very leery of anything coming from TLC or Discovery that starts with "Breaking". Breaking Amish is a perfect example of how they take a good premise and script it out the wazoo, leaving the viewer to think it is real and current, as in the Brown family, while in reality, their real life before the show was nothing resembling the Amish lifestyle. I guess I will have to wait and see what the truth is behind that show.

    1. You make a very good point! At any rate, more faces and facts need to be shared, if we are asked to change laws and be accepting of polygamy. I am tolerant, but will never support a lifestyle/religion that causes and nurtures jealousy, poverty, brain washing and so on. Lets hope this new series will really spark deeper thinking for those drinking the koolaid.

  31. Well done MS.you let 2 or 3 really cryptic hints slip lately about something somewhere being in the works, but I never guessed. Thank Goodness the other side will be told--I just hope the "Reality Show" includes some reality. I also second the opinion of anon 7:30. I really wish they'd do a show with "escapees" from the AUB or Centennial Park--to dispel the myth of the "good Mormon polygamists".

  32. All I can say is that Kody and Krew must be flipping out in the cult-de-sac over the fact TLC is going to explore the darker side of polygamy. I'm sure they're feeling quite persecuted by TLC...even though they'll still collect the paychecks as long as possible!

  36. Thank you for posting the "hints ahead" from Flora Jessop. Nowhere near enough mind you, but the promise of those 2 new shows on TLC is the ONLY reason worth keeping an eye on the Sister Wives, and only then will I glance through the lens of the sisterwivesblog. Like watching an eclipse, I can only handle the teeniest bit of Kody and his cult ... I mean followers ... I mean "wives" without fearing I may actually gouge my own eyeballs out. The show has been so plyg-sided and packed full of fake monotone emotionlessness that I gave up watching for the last 2 seasons completely, but the sisterwivesblog with its collective humor and insight brought me back. Seriously, on this blog, we are like the best Sister Wives ever, and we don't even need a husband/prophet/Adam-God.

And TLC, bravo! Persecute away! (by which, if this post is somehow taken out of context, I mean finally show the true many-sided nature of polygamy). I will actually watch both new shows in their entirety, which is more than I can say for any single episode of "Sister Wives." I hope this is a new trend! Find a way to counter the inane "Honey-Boo-Boo" and I may become a regular watcher of your channel again.

    1. Hey T-shirt pimp, you may need to pack your stuff up in the middle of the night to flee to Las Vegas. The reason I say this is because I think being a pimp is illegal in a lot of states EXCEPT for Nevada!

The police may even now be staking out your street, tapping your phones and driving by your home to take you off and split up your family. Don't worry if your kids cry, your vehicles break down and you have to pack using black trash bags, just head to Las Vegas now! Please make sure to let everyone know how you are being persecuted because you are just trying to multiply T-shirt sales, not divide them.

I know you probably always wanted to live in Las Vegas but keep that a secret until you disrupt your entire family's life and make the whole thing as dramatic as possible. You too may get a TLC TV show if you follow these directions.

  44. Craappp. I forgot I would have to forge through Breaking Amish to see the preview!
A sneak peek at the first, called Breaking the Faith, will air within the season finale of TLC’s Breaking Amish: LA, AMISH: LA this Sunday, September 29.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Breaking Amish New York was bad enough with the witchcraft scene and mentions of bestiality. LA was horrible. Witchcraft again? Baby coming out a different color? Gay assault? Really? I stopped watching the LA show. The Amish are cultish but the way TLC showed them was over the top. With the FLDS they won't need to go over the top because the prophet IS over the top. I would be worried about TLC exploiting the people leaving with situations that could be bad for them. When the FLDS leave they believe they are being damned to hell and are very prone to self destructive behaviors. I understand this as I was brought up in an "All or None Church" but I couldn't imagine being closed off all my life with that kind of physical and mental abuse and then coming into the real world. I don't think Flora or Sam would let TLC exploit anyone for money so maybe it will be ok.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'll say this. I hope breaking the faith isn't another Amish. But from what I've seen it's questionable. I am trying to hold back posting some and watch for myself first.

I look at it every now and then, and have been for years. To me it is a good insight into the mind of a generational FLDS member. It seems crazy at first but after awhile, you can see the massive hurt and pain. The lack of real world influence. There is one poster that seems to dominate this board, so much so that, they may be the only poster now. I don't think anyone is even administrating this board anymore. I refuse to call the posters or poster crazy. cuz that's just not cool. To me it is a insight, and I appreciate it.

Breaking the Faith is done by Hot Snakes Media, who just so happens to be the same production team behind Breaking Amish, the original and LA, as well as Amish Mafia. All 3 of the "Amish" shows are fake and scripted and full of "actors" with criminal pasts. The shows haven't even started yet, and I can already tell Breaking the Faith will be no different. Why can't they find someone reputable to produce an honest "real" reality show?

Flora Jessop's show, Escaping the Prophet, is produced by Screaming Flea Productions, who gives us Hoarders. That show is as gross and as real as it can get. Nothing staged about it. I will watch Flora's show with great interest. Not so much the Breaking the Faith.

TLC, I've heard from others siters, was very unhappy to see the viewer reaction to the Browns discussion. I in no way feel they did this to promote their new shows.
