Ex-FLDS Security: Public Cameras Used to Spy on Polygamous Towns

Now this is Stalking......

By Ladd Egan
(KUTV) Attorneys for cities on the Utah/Arizona border disagree with assertions from former security workers that city-owned cameras are used by Warren Jeffs’ polygamous sect to keep tabs on members and outsiders.

The twin cities of Colorado City, Ariz., and Hildale, Utah are headquarters for the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

“We knew the city was helping us with those cameras,” said Guy Timpson, who says he was part of an elite security team under the direction of FLDS leaders.

Cameras mounted on public buildings, private businesses and homes are all connected on a fiber optics network and available to the FLDS church, according to Timpson.

“We literally could look right into their windows,” Timpson said of certain homes they were instructed to watch using the cameras. “Those lenses are powerful, they zoom far; you can pull license plates half a mile away.” Please read the rest of this story courtesy of KUTV.com  http://www.kutv.com/news/top-stories/stories/vid_4342.shtml

Is this not creepy or what? I can't even imagine it. What are they so afraid of the flock doing? My gosh, do they have any rights at this point?

How would you feel if your town was controlled like this?

  1. From all I've read and learned about polygamy, I'm not surprised at all. We have a dictatorship in full swing going on in this country in the name of religion. Those poor people....brainwashed from the time they were born. How will they ever heal?

    1. Heal from what? If this is the only life they know wouldn't it be more cruel to separate them suddenly without their permission? What if they are happy with the cameras. What if this was a compound full of white supremacists. Would you feel the same way about them being poor people?

    2. I agree with old yeller. From what I have read from many many books, few of these people are happy. They only know this, and think they will go to hell if they leave.

    3. Anonymous @5:10 PM, White supremacists are not typically forced to be where they are as the FLDS women are. White supremacists choose to join their particular "group" or whatever you'd like to call it. So for them, no, I wouldn't feel bad. If you choose to join a group like that you know you will be giving up some of your personal freedoms and following the rules laid out by the "boss".

In this situation, many of these women are BORN into the FLDS as are the children. They do not have free choice to leave. Of course they would need to heal from the experience if they ever had a chance to escape and were successful.

Do I feel for them? Yes, many of them. The men that are running this cult? No way. The children being starved and likely suffering from malnutrition and who knows what all from being on a forced bean diet? Yes.

I could go on and on but if you've read here for any amount of time, you would likely feel the same as most of us do. The FLDS and its leaders are so evil there aren't words.

    4. I feel sorry for any children raised in a closed society based on hatred and fear of 'outsiders'. Children do not choose to be born or raised in such environments!

  2. This kind of stuff freaks me out a little, knowing the capabilites are out there. However like Old Yeller said, I am not really surprised at all. The kind of stuff we hear about going on in polygamist groups, it seems like someone almost needs to be watching, or how about they stop watching and just get those poor people some legitimate HELP

    2. So sorry about the toddler Keep Sweet. Hope tonight is better :-)

TSW I'd bet one sister wife was polishing her wet bar, one was planning the cement pad and the other was busy making mock something and photographing it for twitter!

  4. I have to ask, why are they doing this? do they actually have to watch every itty bitty thing their followers do? This is just another example of how controlling the FLDS is, and how it should not be happening in America... where it is known kids only eating beans and the US ovt has contracts with them?
    This is some crazy shizzles.

  5. I am lost. Who is running the FLDS while Warren Jeffs is in jail, and what all new rules have they made?

    1. My understanding is that Warren Jeffs still rules the FLDS church with an iron fist from prison. In the mainstream LDS church, the President/prophet is assisted by two counselors, typically the two men with the highest Senority after the prophet. Typically, the most senior member of the two counselors becomes the new prophet upon the death of the previous prophet. I would assume the FLDS and other factions are organized in the same fashion.

    2. it's Warren's brother Lyle that's been running it in his absence but he still takes his orders from Warren and enforces them.

  6. Totally creepy. It's like they are in prison.
I would like to hear more of how Lyle is running the FLDS in Warren's absence.

  7. Hard to understand how this keeps happening. What's the purpose of Warren Jeffs being inprisoned if he is still able have control from there. Yes he can no longer physically hurt someone personally but he is ordering others to do so. Make me sick to think of this in todays society.

  8. TOTALLY CREEPY! Beyond creepy. I would leave as soon as I could if I knew every move I made was being filmed and/or that people could watch my every movement!

This is just one more injustice wrought against the members of this cult by the powers that be - aka Warren Jeffs and his flunkies.

    1. But they are taught that all outsiders are Evil, and that they will go to hell if they leave the group or possibly their husband not "call" them into heaven. For someone never to have been outside, that would be scary. Don't they shun you if you leave>

  9. I live in a small town. One where I swear people know your business because the only thing to do is gossip. I can't imagine being filmed! I agree with the one above that said these poor folks. God bless them and get them out of that hell!

  10. I can't believe that the state govt of Arizona and Utah keep letting things like this go on in these two border cities. But then, with the way religious beliefs keeps creeping into politics, anything is possible.

  11. Video cameras connected to homes and businesses. And they have the audacity to say they are not tracking their people?
Kudos for Willie Jessop so speak up and tell the truth.
    This is incredible.
Who are the so-called troublemakers? The husbands that are actually having babies with their wife VS the 15 (or so) men delegated to do so?

Something is not right with this picture. Their is some sort of Govt kickback to keep the law off their backs.

    1. That's what I think. There has to be some sort of payoff somewhere. Why else would even our President not call of an investigation of a bean only diet?

      Delete
    2. I certainly don't know, but I feel the mainstream LDS Church has some responsibility for the ignoring and cover-ups of what goes on in these Fundy off-shoots. I think the mainstream LDS is so scared of being associated with these groups that they don't want to encouage any attention to them, and so they go out of their way to keep them out of the news. It's a shame.

Would you replace one totalitarian system with another? We are a nation of laws and due process, not a dictatorship under guise of a presidency.

The price of freedom is high, because some will always advocate abandoning due process to promote a singular "cause". Let us not allow crusaders, agitators and demagogues to purloin our freedom by subverting due process and governmental checks and balances.

    4. Anonymous 5:54 AM, just to clarify..... when I spoke of "..a dictatorship in full swing going on in this country under the name of religion" I was referring to the practices of the FLDS and Warren Jeffs dictating commands from prison.

  13. I would appreciate hearing from an ex FLDS member to tell us what they think the townspeople think of being watched. Do they feel like they are constantly under surveillance, or think it's for their own safety?

  14. I am surprised at the amazement expressed concerning cams. How has anyone missed their proliferation?

I've moved on to concern over the drones being offered to cities and police departments. Sophisticated Stalking. While we disarm citizens we might want to discuss how far we want our government to go in arming the drones that will soon surround us.

It is happening, has *been* happening and will continue to happen if citizens stay unaware and unconcerned.

  15. This is taken from a speech Flora Jessop gave:

Jessop said it was about one year ago an edict was implemented in the polygamist community, by leader Warren Jeffs, that centered on no more sexual conduct between men and women other than a handshake that could last no more than three seconds. At that same time, another edict was implemented that required all FLDS children in that sect to be bathed one at a time, and only the fathers were allowed to bathe them.

Now why would her want all this?

    2. Yes it is. Even though I have many problems right now, I am even more mortified reading this. The suggestion is that Warren wants everyone to be pedophiles like him. And they probably don't realize what he's doing.

    3. Really horrible things mentioned in that article. My heart just goes out to all those children still stuck in Colorado City and Hilldale.

As Flora said when a 6 year old child loses control of his bowels at the mere mention of his father's name, something major is wrong.

How very sad. Thank goodness Flora got Ruby's family out of there! Hopefully more can be rescued in the future.

  17. I read that William E Jessop, who was once a henchman for Warren Jeffs is now leading his own group in the school. Jessop has separated from Jeffs and hundreds of other refugees from Jeff's reign are following him. He says that underage girls will not be forced to marry or have marriages arranged for them. But, how long will that last....until he has a huge following and no one is watching them anymore?

He was born William E Timpson and his father left in the eighties and helped start Centennial Park which was a break away group. His mother did not leave and stayed and married a Jessop, thus his name change. Sounds like he is starting a beak away group of his own.

However there are thousands remaining loyal to Jeffs and it is those children on the bean diet. Is the bean diet still going on? Will it go on until these children are too sick to recover? Our hearts go out to them....and even to the poor mothers who can't and won't make a decision on their own.

  21. Are things unravelling more for the FLDS? From the Salt Lake Tribune....there will be an April 25 auction which will allow the public to bid on the multi-building complex in Hildale that property records show sits on 6.1 acres and has a market value of 2.65 million. The sale is designed to raise money for a default judgment of 30 million obtained by Willie Jessop.
