  2. The first few minutes Meri had to reconsider her patio door and had used up her budget, which was the same as the others, on the first page of options and was saying how hard it was. But, I had to quit watching when Meri said they were thinking of putting their 12-year-old dog down because, well I don't know, it was having more "accidents." It was sickening. I don't think I can watch anymore. Kody said something about taking it to Utah and the dog wasn't coming back. I stopped watching. I'm sorry, the dog was wagging it's tail and jumping on Kody and 12 is not that old for dogs anymore. My dogs, who were bigger dogs too, lived a little longer with good care, one lived to 17! I just think Meri washing her carpet was all for show. See, the dog is having accidents, time to put her down.

    1. My precious kitty is 12 years old and is on great health!

When has Drake ever been on the show? Am I not watching carefully enough?? I don't remember seeing a dog at any time in LV. It sounds like Meri just didn't want to clean up after him. That dog looked healthy enough to me, with proper senior care.

    2. Hopefull, I too had to stop watching. It really bothered me. Dogs are not "disposable." :(

    3. I was speechless when they decided to put their dog to sleep. I never heard them or the vet suggest any type of treatment or medication. My dog had two more happy comfortable years with help of a compassionate caring vet. Am I wrong here--did this seem like another contrived drama for the cameras?

      Delete
    4. I agree, they were all complete idiots to put that precious dog to sleep, too inconvenient for the biggest boobs on TV.

    5. I was especially appalled when the vet gave Meri her options and Meri's response was to wail "I don't want people to think I'm doing this because I think the dog is becoming an inconvenience" or something to that affect. I was like seriously Meri you're more concerned about how a television audience will perceive you than about what's best for the dog and your children?!?!

Oh and why did they have to go see a vet in Utah? Aren't there any in LV that could have assessed the dog's health? IMO, the show just needed an excuse to film them going back to the Lehi house - too bad it had to be at Drake's expense.

    6. I disagree with the comments about being too early to put the dog to sleep. It may have been the right thing to do. The segment was poorly produced. 12 is old for many dogs especially when they have chronic health issues. I feel for everyone who makes these decisions, let's not judge too quickly just because TLC picked the scenes to show us.

I didn't like last nights' episodes- absolutely dull, I have no interest in watching them put a dog down- the viewers were not connected to the dog so it was not appropriate.

Does TLC even want this show to succeed? They spend no effort on the production or selection of material.

I think my New Years Resolution may be to give up the show and just read this blog!

    7. I normally don't reply and when I do, I certainly don't take up for the family a whole lot but, I have to say this. It did show the vet and he clearly stated that the dog was suffering. I worked in an animal hospital a thousand years ago but still remember some stuff. Dogs that are a bit bigger oft' get that hip ailment that I couldn't even begin to spell on this but it starts with "disp" LOL. Anyhow, I have to take up for them for making the decision. The vet clearly said that the dog was suffering from whatever ailed him. Ducking and running from the computer at this time to avoid the cyber tomatoes coming my way, LOL.

  4. Recap..I semi watched Meri go put her dog down. I felt for her, but did it really warrant Kody leaving to accompany Meri to bury the dog? Episode 2, Christine is trying to study for her 2nd try on the realstate license exam. Truley is vying for her attention & Christine is stressed to the max. Janelle is taking another stab weightloss & hitting the gym at 4am. She wants to lose 100lbs & get down to 170. Blah blah. Breaking ground on the houses. They launch "My Sister Wives Closet" and were disappointed by the lack orders (28). Robyn is highly offended people are calling their jewelry "over priced." She declares "it is sterling silver!" (As though we're discussing titanium). By the end of the episode, Christine passes her exam, but again, voices her frustration by the lack of support from the other wives. I find this SOOOOOO ironic that NONE of the other wives offered to watch her little ones so she could study. Christine watched Janelle's kids & Mariah so the women could work. Christine said she feels like the family is failing. Meri counters back & says it isn't. Anyone else think Robyn is preggers? The last shot of her she looked a good 4 mths along.

    2. I agree that it's so ironic that none of the other "moms" stepped up to watch Christine's kids. I thought that was one of the major benefits of polygamy. What else does Meri have to do with her time?

      Delete
    3. I found it an astonishing business plan to sell poligamy jewelry to the other 4 pligs with so many kids they can't feed that they will surely have the dollars to buy overprices incriminations. Do all pligs get paid by tlc??????? Just don't see this train wreck happening.

    1. Yeah, they never got us bonded to the "family" dog to begin with. It was Mariah's "new puppy" at one time and i imagine hasn't gotten much attention for years now. The other kids (other than a couple of the little girls) didn't seem broken up about it at all. I certainly don't believe it was the whole family's beloved pet by any means. I don't even believe it was Meri's either for that matter. Just seemed so "emotionally" staged for the drama of the week.

  7. The twelve year old dog peed in the carpet and they decided to get the kids together and say a final goodbye and take pictures, so then Kodrama and Merama took the dog back to Utah where Kody digs in the dirt and does this overly dramatic thing that was very weird and then they have a vet come and they kill the dog and bury the dog and then they go back to their real home in vegas. Oh yeah…it sucked. And why does Roby say, me, kodymerijanelchistine as if they are all one word and sistewivescloset as if it is all one word. And, no Kodrama, the jewelry isn't high end and it is cheap. Get real dude.

  10. Could they not find a veterinarian in LV? They hauled this dog all the way to Utah and enlisted the services of a vet. Seems to me they knew they were going to put the dog down before they ever left Vegas. Don't get me wrong, the dog was old but to hire the vet in Utah under the premise they wanted to make sure it was his time was ridiculous. Who takes their dog to a vet in anoher state to find out if it should be put down, stupid.

    4. This episode did it for me, especially the dog. He didn't seem like one that was beyond treatment, and none were discussed. The queen bitch, I'd be willing to BET, just didn't like the mess. Awful, awful people. And TLC is to television what The Enquirer is to print media after this exploitive, disgusting episode.

The rest was just a giant snore-fest. One pipe dream after another. It's time for them to go the way of Snooky back to obscurity. And no thanks to the Dargers, as well. I'm ready for something uplifting and edifying. Garbage iin, garbage out, as they say. I'm really sorry that SW has been a weekly dose of garbage that I took willingly.

    5. Incontinence is a key indicator for having a pet put down. I say this having researched the issue extensively in connection with my 18.5 year old cat, who I had to euthanize in August. If you search for euthanasia and evaluation scales you will see what I mean. My vet warned me when it got to this point it was time. He had tears in his eyes as he gave her the injection. He had treated her for most of her life. I dislike the Browns as much as any of you, but let's not condemn them for showing common sense in sparing their pet further suffering (though the extra driving and such was a bit much). Too much of the time people make a point of keeping a desperately pet alive, claiming that it is for the pet's sake, when really it's their own.

    6. I thought this was a heartbreaking episode and I was sobbing for the majority of it. Yes I am an animal lover and the most unsefish decision to end a loved pets pain and suffering is the hardest choice to make.

It was bittersweet to see them back at Lehi, and to know that their dog has a resting place there.

Dare I say that even the fame-hungry Kody misses the old life in the "big house"?

I'm a fan of the show and this blog. Wish I could post more often, but I just have the smartphone, no computer!

    7. My dog lived for years after his first "accident" with very, very few mishaps before I had to have him put to sleep. He was a happy dog, who played and interacted with us and I think he would have opted for that instead of the needle if he had had the choice. The idiots didn't ask the vet (I have some questions about him, too, btw) if there were treatment options, and they certainly aren't the types to extensively research anything. As she was cleaning up after the poor dog, Meri jumped straight to having him put down. For a change, I think even Mariah smelled a fish.

    8. Anon 7:06,

      All true !!
When it is time, it is time. It happens to us all who have pets.

But to use and exploit that event with yet another madcap *road trip* was just indicative of how desperate these people are to keep the show going.
Why not put the dog down if that was necessary and quietly take his remains to Lehi if that was their want?
Instead it was tailored to be yet another high-drama "show" starring Kody & Meri. Is there no end to Kody's need for star status?!

    9. i agree w/their decision based upon the vet's that it was time to humanely put the dog down. BUT yeah - it was ridiculous to make it the focus of the show in the manner they did. I know they packed a lot into this episode and it seemed rush. But the poor dog! Why drive to Utah to see a vet to determine if he needs to be put down when there's vets in Vegas!?! 2. I noticed that when Merri was agonizing over which options to choose and being over budget she said "I need to work more". Could she possibly have had an Oprah "ah ha" moment and realized that with increased work comes increased funds? I was optimistic for a few moments until a couch session where she said "I work just as much as my sisterwives". Never mind, she's over it.

The entire bunch of them is absolutely clueless and hell bent on spending every penny of their home budgets. I noticed when Kody started to insenuate that since Christine was under budget some of the funds could be directed to Merri's home Christine was quite quick to list ceiling fans and tile she needs to use the money for. They are just digging themselves into a hole that they may never be able to dig out of.

      Delete
    4. well, Kody talks about love SHOULD be multiplied and NOT divided. What he means is that for him it IS multiplied as he gets lovin' from 4 women and too bad for them but they're only female after all and sadly, theirs gets divided by getting 1/4 of him. ;') But then again, the females all get multiples of children and bonus kids to love to make up for sharing their man. lol

  13. So angered by the Mourning the Loss episode. I'm just in utter shock that they aired something like that. Are they really running out of things to do that now an episode about putting the dog down is show worthy? I'm so disgusted by Mary and Kody. I think Mary did in fact put the dog down because it was getting slightly harder for her. She can cry all she wants I still don't believe her. What? She didn't want to purchase the dog any meds for his hips? Would it take money out of her ridiculous McMansion budget? I understand that it does get to the point where the dog is in so much pain that it does make sense to end their suffering when medication no longer will suffice. I don't think that was the case for their dog. There were multiple things that just didn't add up. I'm upset with TLC for even airing this regardless of the reasons for putting the dog down. It was just horrible!

    1. I'm with you on it getting harder for Meri.

We have a dog that appears to be very similar to their dog Drake. Ours was adopted from the shelter and based on the age they thought she was, she is now 10. According to the photo they showed of Drake as a puppy that was taken in 2002, it's now 2012 so that would make Drake 10. But either way he's not that old.

Our dog has to take Glucosamine and Chondroiton (sp?) for very sore joints and also takes a prescription drug called Rymadil for the same thing. The medicine is not that expensive, around $50 for a 3 month supply. She also was having accidents on the floor and takes a medicine for incontinence - again, it wasn't horribly expensive, maybe $100 for 6 months worth. She is doing so well with these meds and her joints have improved a lot. She's had no accidents at all since we started the incontinence medicine and I just can't help but compare her to Drake.

It doesn't even appear they tried to do anything for Drake and if they had, they why didn't they take Drake to their Las Vegas vet? I think they never bothered to take the dog to the vet in LV and just decided it was Drake's time. This just disgusts me. You don't just decide one day, on your own, without any input from the animal's vet!

I'm so upset over this dog being put down. Sorry to ramble and repeat myself but I'm just not in a good place with this. I think they decided they didn't want to hassle with Drake anymore. Grrrr - angry doesn't cover this.

    2. Ya, I wasn't too thrilled about the dog episode & it shouldn't have been aired. I'm an avid dog lover, I have 4 big doggies who are inside dogs & are a huge part of our family.
Why did they feel it necessary to show them putting their dog down & burying it??

      Delete
    3. Don't be sorry! It is refreshing to know some one else feels the same way. I forgot it is Meri not Mary! So angry I can't think straight! My husband's family golden retriever is some what in the same position. He is 13 years old with joint/hip pain. He LOOKS like he is in pain. Before the medicine he wouldn't wag his tail at all, lost weight, and walking around was at a minimum. With the medicine he is pretty cheerful and healthy but the moving is still at a minimum. His family is ready when the vet says he is in unmanageable pain to put him down but so far so good. My point is, Drake was moving around and wagging his tail, he doesn't look like a dog that is in pain. I have trouble not comparing Drake to the family's dog too!

Where is the dog's normal vet? What did he or she have to say about it? Why get the opinion of a traveling vet who has NEVER seen your dog before? Why did they show the dog dying on TV?!

I hope your dog stays healthy and well for MANY years to come. As a fellow dog lover I share your anger!

    4. Agree, agree with what I am reading.
(haven't watched it yet, and so do appreciate the spoilers)

We also are dog people and have had two furry family members on meds for arthritic joints and for better bladder control in the last 2 years. The meds do work and do improve the quality of life for them.

And we have also been through the sadness of losing pets so not minimizing that aspect at all.
BUT.....why did this event have to be filmed out of state with typical TLC/ Kodyworld scripted drama (and exactly how long ago was it) and then brought out to be showcased like this??

These people are beyond redemption from their relentless willingness to use ANY and ALL happenings, however legitimate or exploitative to further their ratings.
      They really are disgusting !!

      Delete
    5. Thanks Berger! I also hope your husband's family's dog stays in good health.

I am thinking they never took Drake to a vet in Vegas or if they had, most people would have let the vet that was involved in the pet's care tell you what they thought about putting the dog down.

I also thought Drake looked like he was happy enough and didn't appear to be in a lot of pain. It amazes me that someone thought this was a good thing to put on TV. If they HAD to air it, I'd have been much more understanding had they gone to the dog's vet in Vegas and that person said well we've tried a, b, c, and d and the dog's no better. It might be time.

I think this whole episode made Meri and Kody look cruel and made it seem as if they just wanted an excuse for Kody to go have his little breakdown while digging a grave behind the Lehi house. *smh*

  14. Spoiler alert!!
Let's see, in the first episode we see the wives discussing which options they want for their McMansions. Christine is very decisive and finishes hers quickly while Meri is having a hard time since she is way over budget and definately does not want sliding glass doors! She also states that even though she doesn't have as many kids as the other wives she is still putting in the same about of "work" as they do. I really find that hard to believe but Robyn is next to her nodding her head in approval! I can't remember if the part about Janelle working out on a regular basis is in this episode or the next but regardless we see her getting up early and heading to the gym at 4:45am ish so she can get her workout in. It really does look like she is trying but does admit that she is back up to 270 where she originally started. Her goal weight is 170. That is 100lbs but she seems up for the challenge. The rest of the episode is devoted to their dog Jake that was getting old and losing bladder or bowel control with painful arthritis. They decide to take him back to Utah to their old house where they meet with a travelling vet and put the dog to sleep and then bury him in the backyard. It is really sad and I feel like they really didn't need to show the part where they are going through the process of putting the dog to sleep. I recently went thru that with my dog a few months ago and really didn't need to relive it :(
The 2nd episode was pretty choppy and had several different clips put together. I might leave out something, it is all kind of blurring together in my head. But I have to say for all the drama that was shown on the tv clips there is only a small little part with Christine saying they are failing as a family and that no one helps each other anymore and that she had to study for her real estate exam with no help from her sister wives. They weren't there to watch her kids for her and also that her other sister wives don't ask each other for help either. There is a snippet of Mykelti going to visit a real life fashion designer and how she gets to help her for a couple of hours. At some point they take the kids to watch them break ground on their new houses. They all meet at Robyn's for the launch of My Sister Wives Closet where they watch anxiously for people to start buying their jewelry. Their are plenty of people on their site but not many orders and they are getting messages about how expensive their jewelry is. Kody says he wants it to be iconic and therefore not cheap. Robyn states that they are made of sterling silver so that is why they are so expensive. Then they go on and on about how badly they need the money to pay for their new homes and for their kids that are about to start college in the near future. It was almost like a plea for someone to please help them out and buy their jewelry! At some point in either this episode or the previous one they do aknowledge the fact that they may not actually end up in the homes because they have a lot to do in the meantime of keeping their credit good and paying off debt. That is all I can remember for now! Hope it all makes sense!

That portion was so nauseating to me. If you don't have a source of income, don't overspend. For them to expect the viewers of the show to bail them out disgusts me. Also, the part about their kids starting college in the near future. Did it just dawn on them that their children may go to college? Most responsible parents start college savings funds while their children are preschoolers. Note to the Browns: just because you have been fiscally irresponsible doesn't mean that others should give you money.

    3. Boy, I'm really getting in to replying today. I usually just read. Anyhow, what shocked the *&^% out of me, (not sure if we can swear here), was how they went on and on and on about college money, and finances in general, and then, we see scenes from next time. It shows them going on another vacation in rented motor homes. HUH? I'm very confused on a variety of issues. The first is what ever happened to their personal trainer, and "great" friend of Kody, Bill? (I think his name was Bill.) It showed J working out with a totally different person. J need aerobics. This guy did seem to be better, in that he had her doing some quick side step deal. I understand that she needs to build core strength, and all that happy horse *&%$ but, in order to drop that weight, she either needs that surgery, and/or aerobics. A lady who lives with us, to whom we refer as "Aunt Liz," since she has been a part of our family for decades, weighed EXACTLY what J weighed, (271). She had that bypass surgery and is now down to 225! She had the surgery on Oct 22 so she is taking off the weight at a nice pace. I don't know how I got off on this tangent. Also, sorry about the one paragraph style here. Another puzzling aspect is this....what ever happened to Meri wanting to work with at risk teens? I can't follow any of this at all and am especially alarmed that no one works. Kody was in sales back in the "olden days." Can't he get some kind of sales gig in Vegas? HOLD ME.

Poor trainer Bill went Bye-Bye apparently once Kody refused to greenlight Janelle's fitness center plan.

I totally agree with you about the aerobics. When I went to a gym (all women - it was really nice!) that's what my trainer told me - to lose body weight I had to do aerobics (keeping my heartrate in the zone she'd say). To strengthen my back muscles I did light weights and machines - but it was the repetitions that counted not the weight I lifted.

When the dog was nearing 20 years old human age, his eyes were bad and his hearing gone and yet he would wag his tale every time one of the kids came home for the holidays. He would still walk on his trail around our house and one day, he just couldn't make it back. My husband came home from work. I was sitting in the back yard with our beloved dog and he and I carried him to the house. We knew the time was near. I called our kids home and the next day, we all loaded up and took our guy to the vet and asked him could he make a house call (I didn't want our beloved dog to die in a sterile vet's office.)

In all the years that he had begun showing signs of aging not one time did our vet suggest we put him down. The vet came to our house that morning and we put Tip on his favorite blanket and the vet did the right thing. We probably, because we loved him so much, kept Tip around a little longer than we should have because he was in pain and we did give him pain meds that the Vet controlled. We also kept him in the confines of our yard so he was safe.

No one can make the decision about our pets but us, but that dog did not look like it was sufferering as much as the Browns indicated. And some vets will put animals down without a good cause and this one was getting some pretty good exposure by driving his car in the view of the camera. Nope, I'm not buying that the dog needed to be put down. Why is it that in all the time that they have been in Vegas, the dog is just now being seen on TV? I thought they had a cat and that was it. These people are people of convieance. I am sure I mispelled that. Geeze!

    4. First, we know that the production company puts constraints on the comments that "guest stars" make (see Kolleen's comments).

Second, there are other reasons why a dog will have an accident indoors. Perhaps Mariah forgot to put the dog outside in time? Would it surprise ANYONE that Meri would have the dog put down for messing up her pristine home?

As for the Utah trip, I sense foreshadowning of the next "reset" when they face facts that they can't afford the new homes, and that their options are limited.

Did I see a preview of a new Dargers show last night? Are they the new TLC Plyg family? Hard to imagine the need for two shows about Plygs....

  17. The dog episode was so poorly produced. They really needed to have more with the vet, and the diagnosis of the dog to explain what is going on. For all we know, it could have been diagnosed with cancer previously and they just cut out that scene with the explanation. Again, it makes Meri look like an evil meanie. I can't believe I am defending her in this episode, but it seems to me that there was a whole lot more going on that the producers didn't explain.

Sometimes dogs are in respiratory distress and pant continuously. You can't give oxygen to a dog all day long like you can for humans when they are old. While it does seem cruel, we don't know if this dog had been eating and drinking, if it had been having seizures, etc. It looked like it could not get up onto its legs for most of the show. They probably could have given it medication before for the arthritis or whatever was wrong with it, but there was just not enough explanation for the audience to see that this was the right choice for them. Their dog was probably miserable in the Las Vegas heat, with practically no back yard. Just a HUGE fail for the production company on this one. They really could have had us feel bad for the dog and the Browns', but they still look callous, fake and superficial. Sadly, maybe they just are that way.

    1. I don't think a vet would say it's a good idea to put the dog down unless they really think it's necessary. My dog's vet keeps stringing us along charging us for more and more drugs, visits, surgeries and procedures to milk more money out of us. If you kill the dog, you lose the endless income. At least that's how the vet works in my town! If I were a vet, I would not risk my reputation being put on national tv suggesting that I put down a dog unless it was absolutely the best thing to do.

Wouldn't your greatest concern be whether it was really time, regardless of what other people thought? Interesting that she seemed more concerned with others' opinions than her dog.

  20. I was absolutely APPALLED to see someone having their dog euthanized on TV, then burying it. How inappropriate. Meri is such a total fat douche, seems obvious to me that she just wanted the poor dog gone so that he wouldn't dare pee in her McMansion. Poor old dog, lying on that spit through thin so-called dog pillow that sat atop a hard tile floor....cheap fockers. And when Meri the fat douche was whining and crying, it was all about her and how she felt mean......I didn't hear anything about the poor dog, about what was BEST FOR THE DOG. What a bunch of coldhearted narcissists. And when Cody was digging the grave even before it was confirmed by a Vet that it may be in the dog's best interest to be put down (who does that?), he was spazzing out like the feminine spaz that he is, but it was only about the house and the memories, not anything about the poor dog and years of memories with the dog.
I hope and pray that their UBER-TACKY JEWELRY venture fails miserably. It's all a bunch of fugly crap. And Robin defends the prices "it's sterling silver" - OMG, so what? Sterling silver is not that expensive, ever go down to Mexico? It's not up there with gold you moron.
And Meri is even more of a fat douche for being so materialistic and demanding. Oh dear, she refuses to have sliding patio doors, she MUST have French Doors. She's a shameful wench in her skin tight dollar store long sleeved shirts with the 5 sizes too small tanks and camis over them. I LOVE how she claims that despite her having only one minion, that they all get equal budgets because they all work EQUALLY...........oh really? What does Big Meri do all day to fill her time when she has a teenage daughter who really doesn't require any care? Browse Home Decor magazines? She surely doesn't have the # of children (and related workload) to care for as the others do. Did I mention that she's a douche?

    4. I loved when Kody was going over budget with Christine and she came in about 15% under budget and Kody said something like "Meri can use that cause she is over budget" and Christine shot back "She isn't getting any of my budget" and then proceeded to think of things to add just to make sure Meri didn't get a dime of her share. It's funny that Kody would even think to recommend giving Meri more if another wife does the right thing and keeps her cost down. I agree with Christine there, Hell no! I will spend every lost dollar before I give it to that selish twit who is already getting so much more than she needs anyway.

The business will go under and hopefully the Browns (meri and kody) and his three concubines will go away soon.

    9. Silly Goose,

IMHO you hit the nail on the head when you described Kody and Meri as "coldhearted narcissists." Horrible people. Horrible parents.

I stopped watching this show last year, and I only come to this blog periodically to read the comments as well as learning if the kids are escaping from this dysfunctional family. I'm betting that most won't be strong enough to do so, but that there will be a minority that do get away from these needy, well, "coldhearted narcissists."

However, having read today's post and the comments and loving my dogs as I do, I don't know that I can even come here to read about the Browns any longer.

I love my pups. I am so, so glad that I didn't see this episode.

When I had to put down my 10 year old Lab, she had liver cancer and it was the hardest decision I've ever had to make. Never would I have considered putting this on television, and the idea of digging a grave before seeing the vet? I am so angry I could spit!

Give the dog away if you have more compassion for your carpets than for your pet. Oh, I am mad. Mad. MAD.

I'm not buying that it was the "dog's time" but even under the assumption that it was, you don't put this on television. How exploitive will these people get? They have no boundaries.

Cruel, shallow, lazy people -- TLC take note: I'm not even watching YOUR CHANNEL any longer. Neither is anyone in my family.

This is how much we are all disgusted by your programming choices.

  21. While 'Mourning the Loss' was in bad taste, I actually kind of felt for them. I have an older dog (he's 13) and he's half-blind (if not already fully blind), has incontinence issues, and hip/joint problems. I mean we are treating his hip/joint problems, but eventually we are going to have to put him down. Because it's selfish for him to continue to suffer, due to us wanting him to be around longer.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but there might be more to his medical history than what the vet said on tv.

Death is hard, but in a way... I kind of think it's easier to deal with if you know when and how it's going to happen. When I was younger, my dog was a car on Christmas day and it was a blow to me because I wasn't expecting it. So while I'll be sad when this dog is put down, I'll have time to accept that it's coming.

  22. The dog episode made me so made. Anonymous ^ up there says for all we know it had cancer. Ok, THEN WHY NOT SAY THAT??? Why edit out 30 sec saying "Drake has cancer". He wasn't sick. He was old. Old and sick are 2 very different things. I will put a sick animal to sleep, but I will not put an old animal to sleep. I love my pets. I don't want them to suffer, but I don't think drake was suffering. It really seems to have all to do with the carpet and the new homes and "getting it over with now". Bull dogs have horrible breathing problems ^anonymous and we don't put them to sleep for that reason. They do have short lifespans but we don't have a timeline on PTS the dogs with panting issues. Fat dogs pant too should we put all fat dogs to sleep??

One thing I have noticed and it really is hitting me like a ton of bricks, this show has went down the drains since they moved to Las Vegas. They all seem so selfish and desperate. The create a business to sell jewelry like their lives depend on it but buy 500k homes for 4 wives? Why not build a big home for all families? I think Christine really wanted that. Being in 4 different homes really does make it seem like they are 4 independent families instead of 1 big family. They really annoy me this season and I don't see any real subsistence to any of their episodes anymore. They are spending too much time on "scripted" ideas like "ok let's do the drake dying thing" or "the big family vacation" or the "Polygamy abuse thing" instead of letting life play out. I cannot see this show being renewed.

    2. Exactly Courtney!! I've wondered since they moved to LV why they didn't just find an architect to draw up plans for a large "4 family house" instead of paying 500K a piece for 4 houses. There is NO WAY they will ever get those home loans in the end. 4 women, 1 man, 17 kids and 0 job equal NO HOME LOAN!

    3. They edited out the dog's medical history explanation because they edit out EVERYTHING! Poor us, we have financial and credit troubles. They edited out the fact that most of them have declared BANKRUPTCY and have used public assistance at one time. How about mentioning Robin's Victoria's Secret shopping addiction. That doesn't sound like modesty to me. If you spend that much at that store, you have a real problem. Having more and more kids and just relying on the government to take care of them is insanely irresponsible, and they just won't own up to their debts.

Then Christine quickly responded to Kody, No Meri is not getting the remainder of my budget...
This family doesn't deserve those homes. its not like they're gonna be able to keep up w/ the payments, costs,& maintainance on all 4 homes.

    1. I just commented above on how I was amused at Kody even suggesting that Meri should get the remainder of Christine's budget. She was like not gonna happen then proceeded to find "extra's" like the tile she wanted for her kitchen to spend it up. I can't say I blame her, I would spend my entire budget just to make sure I didn't do without something I wanted so Meri can have more.

It's sad that the wives who do try to keep cost reasonable might end up paying for one wife to have more more more when she already has taken more than she needs. No wonder they can't save money. I have a feeling if Christine or Janelle saved money in the past Meri found a way to spend it.

    2. all the talk about $$$ and the lack of, why do they continue to live in 4 separate homes? two would do. share a kitchen would be violent, sharing is better than none at all.

you do what you have to do when money is tight.
travel????? why so much travel when they are so in need of money? geez!!!! there can not be a need as much as they pretend.

when our family has/had money crunch crisis, we omitted all non essential items, activities, etc.... what exactly does mr. brown do for a living?

      well,
i just had to vent!!! i can not stand it when there is such dire situations in our own back yards that a few bucks would change, that the browns are on t.v., living in 4 different homes, traveling...... but continue to complain.

one last question? when our children were teens they got jobs and did what they could to supply their own needs and spending money.

    3. This night showed exactly why this family is struggling. When Meri wants to exceed her housing budget (which is already ridiculously high for a woman with no real job, 1 kid, and a husband 1/4 of the time) and Christine comes in under, instead of telling Meri that if Christine can do it, she needs to come under budget too, he wants to give what Christine saved to Meri. Oy, this family is going to drive me to drinking! Since Kody cannot man up and stick to a set budget with his wives, how can he man up and be the head of a large family? @Victoria, I also have the feeling that Meri spent every penny the other wives tried to save. Remember how Meri was shocked that Janelle and Christine had a pantry in the Lehi house that she never knew about? That said a lot too.
Secondly, just looking at their old Lehi house versus where they are now in Las Vegas really reiterates that the move to Vegas has torn this family apart.

Hahaha, my sister wife and I crack open a bottle of wine in order to watch Sister Wives on Sunday lol! It's the only way we can get through watching it without throwing things at the tv.

I was watching the first episodes on Netflix the other day and it was such a stark contrast to how it is now. I mean I haven't missed seeing Robyn cry constantly, but at least in the beginning they actually seemed like a family. It's digusting how the "fame" went to their heads. Kody has always been a man/child but I never used to HATE Meri as much as I do now. I don't think any of them deserve the new houses and I seriously hope they don't end up in them. Just going to get forclosed on anyways. Get some real jobs already and start supporting your kids! I feel like Janelle's kids are the only ones who are going to grow up with any sense of responsiblity. It disgusts me that there are large families like mine who are working so hard to make ends meet/live modestly, and yet these idiots think that they deserve/need these huge houses. Buy two damn duplexes next to each and start living like the rest of us do- within our means!

    6. Freya you are right. The Vegas move and their need for fame has been terrible for them all. I went back and watched the first two seasons on netflix to see why I had ever been interested in them. Before the move they seemed like a reasonably well-funtioning family. Now they are just four women on the verge of divorce. These are the true "Desperate Housewives"!

    7. I think Krody suggesting they use Christine's budget savings for Meri's home is because that is the home that HE is actually on the mortgage too. It is a way for him to get what HE wants in the home too because it is the only one he will have ownership of. I can see him and Meri conspiring together on this one.

As far as the dog episode, you have to wonder if that is just a prelude to them moving back to the Levi house where they were "happy". I think Krody's fake emotional reaction to being back in Utah was an opening for him to get another calling from God that, in order to restore the family values, they need to move back and that the LV experience was what they needed to show them that. (there's no place like home...blah, blah, blah) The dawning light (sign from God) will be when the homes fall through and they have no where else to go. Krody will gather the family (again) and explain to them why it wasn't their fault and they did the best they could...second verse, same as the first!

    1. DJ,
I was thinking that too. If the dog was such a familiar part of the family, then yeah, why was he essentially absent from any scenes in the last year or so. Who was watching him while they go on their many trips and locations shoots??

And kids DO react strongly to a "pet's" loss...apparently these kids didn't. ????
Of course, it may be that they were all rounded up in the usual "okay, kids, the cameras are here now so you all look at Daddy, and act surprised/sad/happy/etc.etc" manner that TLC has been using in episodes.

Makes you wonder what event will be manipulated next to peddle for ratings??
Obviously, they are running out of ideas.

  31. Meri honestly makes me want to puke!!! "I am not having a sliding door." All it made me think about when she was cleaning the carpet was her thinking to herself "I am not having a peeing dog." Then she has the poor little dog put to sleep. He seemed okay to me. The dog was affectionate with the children, was wagging his tail. Yes he may have been in pain but there are prescriptions for that. It would just have to involve MERI doing something she didn't want to do. Like clean up some pee after an ailing family pet, have sliding doors, or anything else she doesn't want. She is so self involved.

    4. Now they can also market that dumb looking paw "iconic" symbol as in remembrance of Drake for some more heartstring pulls for marketing their plyg jewelry no one's in love with.

      Delete
    5. Had they created some jewelry that fans would want in a fan price range it would sale. I really wanted a ring of theirs but, it is so derned ugly. I just wanted one because I was a fan, not because I needed a iconic piece of plyg jewels. I bought a sterling/diamond ring on limoges jewellery and it was 23.00 after discount and free shipping and it has mine and my husbands names on the front. Now their being plygs you think they would think of that one to put the sister wives names on a family ring. LOL.... they probably order from cheaper sites themselves also. I have seen the photo on facebook of their own wedding rings which are gold and very cheap looking. YELLOW gold when the trend has been white for several years now or platinum. Plain bands with a tiny diamond here and there. These people were hardly scraping by in the past from the sight of these $100 rings they are wearing for all eternity. Is it not when you get engaged the man spends 3 months salary on a ring? 3 months salary was apparently 33 dollars a month for Kody. And yet for STERLING they want $60 for a worm ring?
Also they may want to add some other items to their site... little selection. Try adding some of the apparel and such they said they were going to offer from the beginning.

      Delete
    6. I love a good snark, but I have to say, my own wedding band is a tiny gold one, and my engagement ring has a tiny diamond. I own a two carat diamond ring, a carat and a half one, and my husband could buy me anything I want. But when we married, we were students. $33 a month would have been more than we had, and I was grateful to have a ring at all! And my tiny little ring means more to me than any other would.

  38. i am a long time reader and viewer and a first time commenter. i too, believe that this family is a train wreck waiting to happen. Tonight i am commenting on the comments given so far, in fact, i had to stop reading the comments after the first few because they really upset me. i am only commenting on the scenes with Drake.
First of all, i do remember seeing a dog in the background a few times over the years. i'm not sure if it was Drake but as i recall it was a dog that looked similar to him.
Secondly, Come on people!!! This is basically 2 half-hour shows. Do you really want air time spent showing us everytime someone has to clean up after a pet? i certainly don't. Drake could have been having problems for sometime and it was not put on the show until now. i don't think Meri wanted to put him down for one accident.
If you watched carefully, at the beginning of the first scene involving Drake, he was seen coming in the backdoor and it appeared that he was having trouble walking. The veterinarian said that his hips were bad and if you have ever had an animal with hip dysplasia you know that it is very painful for the animal. We had a wonderful dog who, at about 11 years of age, went downhill very suddenly. Within a period of days, she went from being a relatively healthy, although aging dog to one at death's door. We had to have her put down for her sake. much earlier than we would have wanted.
i agree that the Brown family does some really screwy, incomprehensible things at times, but let's not rant and rave about every little thing.

    1. I saw a dog a few times, but it was a border collie. We are not all "ranting and raving about every little thing". We are upset over something we consider to be a very big deal, the killing of a pet when a small investment may have meant much more time alive and relatively well for the dog. Editing or not, one doesn't really tell all the kids the dog is going to die, and then drive it hundreds of miles and dig a grave before consulting a veterinarian. Their minds were already made up that they would have that dog killed.

      Delete
    2. Well said Border Collie....Totally agree w/ you.

      Delete
    3. We just don't know the whole story and probably never will. They could have already consulted with a LV vet who said to put him down. Maybe they were already buying him medicine. Perhaps they wanted a second opinion with the Utah vet? Who knows?

      Delete
    4. Totally agree with Border Collie. The dog was shown greeting Kody and wagging his tail. That dog had life in him. They shouldn't have aired this show period.

      Delete
    5. I, personally, don't care for the Browns either. But I'm comfortable w/the vet on camera that suggested it was the humane thing to do. I'm not comfortable second-guessing his statement he clearly made to them based on his own professional assessment. Vets don't like to just indiscriminately put animals down. They're vets cause of their love and devotion to animals and their health. They also make their main money by treating animals - not killing them.

      Delete
    6. I agree with Border Collie. IF they had consulted a vet, I don't believe for one second that they wouldn't have devoted a whole episode to the visit. I'm betting they had a vet who'd just tell them what they wanted to hear for his thirty seconds of fame.

      Delete
    7. I agree with Border Collie. They drove out to Utah, all the kids had said goodbye. THE GRAVE WAS DUG. And THEN they call in the vet? And to euthanize a dog on television is disgusting. I commented to my daughter "surely they won't show it on tv" but YEP they did. And, not that I had much respect for them in the first place, but that removed any last trace of respect I had for them as human beings.

      Delete
    8. Just because he was a "vet" doesn't mean he was honest. Let's not be naive. We've seen this family do absolutely deplorable things on national tv and not think twice. It's not that far fetched to think they had an old "family vet" in their pocket to make this decision for them with no medical basis. I agree with Border Collie. We are not "ranting and raving over every little thing." The comments on this site are about very serious issues, ie. abuse, death, lying, welfare fraud, manipulation, etc.

  39. It's AMAZING TO ME that in tonight's episode, they actually claimed that their online jewelry business was the ticket to support them all. Are you focking nuts? Even the most successful online business ventures take time time time and the money doesn't start rolling in overnight. What a bunch of dopes for thinking their tacky, overpriced jewels would be enough to support a gazillion children, multiple humongous mortgages and college educations for their brood?
This show is one hot mess. They don't even live as true Plygs so where's the story anymore? There isn't one and hasn't been for some time.
Wasn't there someone who posts here who lives near where these McMansions are being built (well, where the lots are) and he's stated that as of late that no building or even turning of the sod has even started?

Here are some business ideas for the Browns:

    1. Kody could endorse a product for freaky flyaway thinning hair
    2. Meri could endorse a line of teen-sized camis and tanks tops that are made with tons of Lycra so as to be able to stretch over even the largest of frames
    3. A DIY book on how to abuse welfare, declare bankruptcy multiple times and be wonderful financial role models.

I'm sure there are many others. Bunch of losers. I feel so sorry for their children who didn't ever ask to be brought into this dysfunctional lot of daydreaming parasites.

Ya right & I bet the other wives would never get to spend any extra $$ that Meri contributed bc she would selfishly find something else to spend it on so she wouldn't have to share.
Then cut to the scene where Christine is telling us her pipedream of selling her 1st house & getting her 1 st commision check & bringing it home saying Ok, what debt should we pay off first?...Lmao That seriously had me cracking up!

    Replies
    1. That part where Christine was talking about taking her first commission check to pay off debt had me rolling on the floor, as well. Then I started thinking about it. If Utah's bankruptcy laws are like Texas', which I assume they are, any windfall, or substantial increase in earnings the debtor receives after the bankruptcy filing must be used to extinguish the debt. This applies even YEARS after the bankruptcy had been filed. The money paid to the Browns for the show would be considered a windfall or substantial increase in earnings and would be forfeited to bankruptcy court. They are supposed to let their bankruptcy attorney know of the increase and file it with the court. The Browns obviously haven't done this; they shield the money by having the production company pay their entertainment company. To not do this is to commit bankruptcy fraud.
I believe that the Browns left Utah, not because of any bigamy charges, but to keep the bankruptcy court from taking their TLC earnings. In fact, I'm kind of shocked that the bankruptcy court hasn't taken their house in Lehi yet.

I was struck by how much prettier Janelle is without all the eye makeup. Rounding your eyes with black liner and lashes just makes them look squinty.

  43. I forgot to watch tonight's show (shows how important it is in my life I guess) but reading the comments about Robin saying she couldn't understand why people thought their jewelry was overpriced? Priceless! Even Tiffany doesn't charge as much for sterling silver jewelry as MSWC does. I wonder if the real reason they charge so much is because the artisan who makes the jewelry is charging them retail (what he'd normally sell his stuff for?) And probably laughing all the way to the bank. :D

And to think they think a HOBBY is going to pay for four half-million dollar homes? Seriously? Are these people smokin' shrooms or something?

Anyway, I'm glad Christine passed her test, I hope both she and Janelle get licensed (although looking through the requirements, I'm not sure the state of Nevada will approve them, they ask things like if you've ever been charged with a felony, or filed bankruptcy.) But Janelle posted on her Twitter that they were going to start "working" with Mona at TMI Realty, so either they are licensed, they are wishfully hoping they will be, or they'll just be working the phones and doing office work. But hey, if it's a REAL JOB I'll be thrilled.

    ReplyDelete

    1. with their miserable lack of sales, i don't think the artisan or anyone else is laughing all the way to the bank! As far as the money from their show tho - I'm sure the Browns have been doing that. but even they've gotta know their "reality" gig's almost dried up.

Personally, i think Mona's flaky herself, so she deserves having some of the Browns come work for her! lol Christine would drive me absolutely crazy and i can't wait til she's told that her tears aren't appropriate in the workplace and also she can't be a full-time Mom first and foremost instead of a realtor. Janelle will probably do ok - but Christine's not going to like the workload or commitment level that making $$ as a realtor requires.

      Delete
    2. I too saw where they are going to be working with Mona at TMI, so that's good for them. I don't know why the rest of them didn't try to get licensed b/c it doesn't sound like MSWC is doing too well. Plus, many have stated that Vegas isn't the best place to be a realtor at this point in time, so good luck with that. I actually commend J&C for trying to work, though.

C is in a for a rude awakening, however, if she thinks she can be a realtor and actually make money at it and still go back to spending all that time with the kids. She's gonna have to find a balance like the rest of us who are moms and work outside the home too. Welcome to life. I am proud of her though.

Kody and Meri can watch the kids b/c neither of them works. Also Robyn.

I think MSWC is a front. You know how organized crime will have businesses as a front to hide illegal money coming in? I don't think the Browns have illegal money coming in, but I think they've got some secret money coming in. I think others have alluded to this. I just don't see Janelle being comfy with the idea of buying these houses unless they have the money for sure somewhere. I bet with all of their sources, they have right at $2 mil. Janelle knows they still have to pay utilities, taxes, tuition, insurance, etc, but the others just see the here and now and think, "we're rich!" I think we can all agree that they are not the most financially aware (understatement of the year).

      Delete
    3. If both Janelle and Christine work who will watch the kids? Robbins sister?

      Delete
    4. I keep saying, now each wife has a "career" that allows them to deduct home and some travel expenses. Robyn has MSWC, Meri has the green goo, Janelle and Christine will have real estate. They have to show a profit three out of every five years -- but it doesn't have to be a lot. As long as they keep good records (and I expect Janelle, at least, will) they will be able to deduct far more from their taxes legally than they could ever be making most years, and it's a pretty nice system. We already know they could work the system from the welfare side -- why on earth would we think they couldn't work the tax side? And please -- don't tell me that that IRS will come after them. The IRS isn't scary -- an audit only means you provide your paperwork and argue your case and you either win or you lose, and losing means you pay more money. It's really not a big deal. (I've been audited twice. I won once, lost once.)

  44. While I was surprised at the whole dog incident, (I had never seen the dog before) I was really surprised and taken back by what Meri said at the ground breaking. After the ground was broken and the whole family was having a toast, Meri said something to the effect of "now do I have to drink this?" That got to me for some reason. I also that it was very odd that just as Christine was saying her feelings about being alone and not what she signed up for, the episode ended. Although perhaps bad editing, that says a lot about Christine. She says what she feels and then everyone just goes away and ignores her. (Kody at Christmas in particular). The whole thing about Kody being a gentleman and not seeing a woman in her bra was odd too.

  46. It is strange that when the 'family dog' is being put to sleep, it is just Meri, Mariah and Kody that this responsibility. Out of state was very strange too unless they only wanted to bury him on their Utah property. So here you have a family pet and if they were truly united as 'one family' - out of all of those children, don't you think there would be at least one or two other kids that would have wanted to be there? Being in separate houses for a year and a half wouldn't change a child's love for a family dog. They really don't seem like one family unit, but Kody with four separate families. He just hops from house to house. And with Christine saying her kids haven't seen him in a week, he is staying somewhere else longer. Living in a cul de sac is not going to change that.

Another question ... how do they claim to be married? For instance, is he legally married to Meri and then just a church marriage for the others? Do the subsequent wives just do a name change at the courthouse? Or keep their maiden names? How are the kids insured?

THEN THERE IS MERI . . . mother of a nearly grown, very spoiled child who clearly functions as her mother's crying towel. WHY DOESN'T MERI HELP THE OTHER MOMS?

My guess is they don't want her anywhere near their kids!

SO WHY DOESN"T MERI GET A REAL JOB AND HELP HER FAMILY???

    2. Meri could have been working full time... that is 40 hours a week (clarify for her) for several years having only had the one child in school. Instead she worked very part time with children in crisis and her employer fired her once they found out her own instability. A woman who lives with her husband and 3 other women is not stable and should not be doling out advice to children who come from abusive pasts. I really doubt after airing she will ever work in the social work field again in a credible job. She has shown her immaturity, her abusive traits, her devious tendencies and her lack of stability. Not someone you want around children who have been through abuse. Her life shows all over her rough face. I do not hate her. I feel for her and I hope she finds God and quits worshiping the man she believes will pull her into heaven. I understand they make a lot of money from the show but, really, why isnt Kody working at least? If he were a Christian man would he not work to support his family and provide for them?
They would do better on a website with more choices, selection, styles or souvenir type items. People with little class and taste putting out Iconic signature jewels that promote women being strong even though it is 4 weak women making up maybe half the spirit of one strong woman well.... little hard to call that STRONG WOMAN.
Are they going to put down Janelle and Christine? Ladies check your life insurance policies .... has Meri and Robyn recently increased your policy? Are you worth more dead then alive? How much was the dog worth... in monetary value? I am sure they got something for murdering him.
The Mariah kid ... we should not attack the children ever as some people have said horrible things about some of the children. However, Mariah is 17 and in sister wife years she is an adult and should have been married for at least 4 years by now. So, I believe at some point her wedding will revive the show. She should be married any time after turning 18.. I dont know who would marry her and if she will eat the other sister wives alive and what will come of that but, any time now should be some news.
Question yall? Ok, why are the children so fluffy? Why do many of their programs feature piles of pancakes, sausage, and calorie laden foods? Why are the moms not promoting fitness. If Meri wants to surpass the Jones why does she not loose some of that ass to fit it? Women of society rarely eat and I am sure food stamps cover fruits and vegetables. She only had one child and I am sure she didnt carry it in her bottom so not sure why the spread going on. My experience is woman with the wide load in the back it is because they are a sittin on it so much.
Janelle and Christine had 6 each... in my book they are saints ... having lived through 6 pregnancies? I give them kudos for being able to have time to do their hair and make up. They are beautiful and Kody pays little attention to them.
Sobyn? She had 4 and will grace the world with probably 10 before she is done. She looks 45 now so by the time she is 40 she will look 60 and Kotex, um I mean Kody will have moved onto younger wife or married one of his step daughters.

    1. Quite a few of them come from divorced homes (I believe Christine's mother left polygamy, as did Robyn's?) which might explain the past tense. Also, if your father added wives after you grew up and left home, that might make it sound weird to explain: I had three mom's, but my father has four wives.

As I said earlier, the trouble with polygamy is that even if you don't "go weird" it doesn't take long to sound weird.

  51. I just want to comment on how abused Christine is by Kody. I usually don't drop my jaw during shocking moments in this show, but this one really killed me. When Christine was off writing her test, the other wives, along with kody, were discussing Christine's testing pass and the probability of her passing. How DARE kody put Christine down by 1) disclosing his belief that he felt due to stress, Christine was going to fail 2) disclosing this in front of the wives and the children.

I wish Christine read this so I could say, wake up and smell the coffee. He is a 'bastard' and she is just as much of a victim to abuse. Kody is an arrogant jerk. Period

I stopped watching just before it went to commercial, where it showed Kody seeming to have a breakdown while digging a grave for the dog. Juxtaposing this with Meri stating that she absolutely refuses to move into a house without french doors and a wet bar was just too much, and I can handle a lot of "WTF" in my reality shows. 54. Meri's skin tone:

Her face was a brown/orange on this week's episode.

    Yet, her neck was white.

I cannot think of a natural explanation for the extreme contrast.

I can theorize several not natural explanations....

Perhaps Meri seeks to start a new "fashion" trend in KodyWorld and puts fake tanning cream on her face (only)?
Perhaps Meri has seen the longevity of Jersey Shore and believes that the fake tan is key to their success and seeks to emulate?

    very confusing.

Or maybe it is not intentional on Meri's part?

Perhaps the make up artists for Figure 8 are participating in the snark? Have they been around the family enough to see the fake veneer that they put on when the cameras are rolling? Is Meri the most artificial of them all, and we are being given a visual cue about that?

I don't know what's up with that, but if you read this, Meri, I would urge you to seek a more natural approach to makeup that will highlight your eyes.

    Really!

I am also trying to assign some positive interpretation and pray that it was an editing mess up, BUT it showed Kody digging the dog's grave WHILE it was still alive and BEFORE the vet had checked him. That is cold. Very cold.

And how stupid do they think we are? Where I live, not one spade of dirt gets moved on a new home without the financing completed. But the Krew wants us to think this might still fall through. How insulting to the viewers intelligence! Not sure who is paying for all this, but someone is. I have to agree with previous posters, I think the "church" folks who are financing the whole lawsuit to decriminalize polygamy are paying for these houses.

    2. I was also stunned by the segment about the dog. Even my husband said, 'This is probably the most disturbing thing I've ever seen on television... and I saw it on Sister Wives.' I kept sitting there in disbelief thinking Kody can't possibly be digging a grave for a dog that's still alive, that vet can't possibly be pulling out a needle to put this poor animal down on camera. Just stunning.

I don't understand how they can complain about finances and making ends meet yet they drive all the way to Utah to bury a family pet.

And why, oh why, did they have to parade the smaller children over to say good bye to the dog- that seems awfully traumatic. Say he ran away or passed peacefully in his sleep for crying out loud- I doubt those photos they took of the children sobbing hysterically with the dog were really worth it.

  57. Argh! These two episodes were so aggravating! The second episode just seemed like so much filler that there's just not a lot to say about it...other than congrats to Christine on passing your RE exam, and I hope you do something with it.

As for the first episode - oh my. I know it was a half-hour show, so they couldn't go too much into Drake's history and condition (there were houses to talk about after all!), so I will reserve judgement, other than I think airing the story was in poor taste unless they could really devote a respectful amount of time to it, and help the viewers understand their grief. Rest in peace, Drake.

Okay, so the houses - Meri, Meri, Meri....oh how you drive us all nuts with your spouting off that you will NOT have sliding glass doors. How shallow and spoiled you come across. Did you not see that your fellow sisterwives were able to work with their budgets, and even come in under them? Did you not see that everyone had left the table because they had already made their decisions? They were probably off getting froyo, while you remained at the table toiling over how many unnecessary luxury items you could cram into your bloated McMansion.

And the Utah house. I still don't understand that one. It remains theirs. Why? I'm not sure. I guess from what I understand, they are underwater on the mortgage, so selling it would mean all proceeds would go to the bank, and even then would they still have to continue with payments on the loan? I am a renter so I do not understand the whole process. Perhaps someone with some real estate insight could shed some light onto why they are not liquidating the Utah house if they are "putting down roots" in Las Vegas. I understand they are renting the UT house to a family member, but are they even breaking even?

And, Las Vegas, where they are putting down roots. And yet, they return to Utah to bury their dog. I know they can't bury Drake in their new lots, but they claim to be planning on staying in LV forever, yet they hang onto the UT home, and they bury their dog there. Is UT the back-up plan in case they fail in Vegas? As someone pointed out above, it seems to me that their best option would have been to hire an architect and remodel the heck out of their house in Utah. They could have done that at a fraction of what their spending on these four homes in LV. Their lack of practicality is just so frustrating!

    1. it's my understanding they have two seconds on their primary loan, so yes- they're upside down on it and would have to take a lot of money to closing provided they could even sell it. it's a weird house setup - more like a landlord situation and who knows if that's even legal to do that w/it?

they wouldn't have had to remodel their home in Lehi. it's already set up as 3 (not so big) apartments and they could probably just have put a trailer for Robyn out behind it. w/the sign - if this trailer's rockin', don't come knockin'.

  58. Okay, finally got to watch last night's show thanks to DVR and a nasty cold keeping me going to work.

Just have to comment about one more glaring, so, so obvious set-up for the cameras.
About that "fashion" shoot when the model comes out in her bra and Kody's role is to get all twitchy and then is set up to announce his gallant exit.
Really??...we are to believe that the model (who had to sign off on being on camera as did the "fashion" company) just happened to "oops" walk out with Kody still hanging out in the hall with the cameras guys rolling tape...!!
We are to believe that NO ONE cued the model when to make her appearance in the hall??
    Pulleeze!! Stop already !!

And since they have chosen to highlight Mykelti as a budding Donna Karan, then perhaps she should do some homework on makeup application, and particularly on eyebrow shaping.
Sorry, but that is the truth.
And for your own sake, Mykelti...DO NOT ask bonus Mommy Meri for *any *makeup advice !!!!!!!!

But good for TLC for given that young woman her own spot in an episode. Too many of the other kids are relatively invisible.

About the dog's demise scenes....was it intentional while Kody was huffing and puffing and sobbing digging the grave....that the poor animal was romping in the "forest" in the background behind Meri at one point??
    That blew my mind.

    Uhmm......"iconic" jewelry...
    To whom, may I ask?!!
Seriously, these Browns are becoming more twisted and laughable every episode.

  59. Kody is just a jerk (and I'm being nice). His comment to Meri that she should be okay with sliding glass doors because she won't have as much "kid traffic" was appalling to me. Yes I think she's whiny, but on this topic I believe he should tread carefully with her.

As for Drake being put down. If the vet agreed then I can see why they did it. But to televise it? That's despicable.

Robyn is the only one of the wives that seems even remotely happy. And that is probably only because she is the favourite.

I am REALLY curious how Janelle truly feels about everyone getting an equal budget for the houses since she makes the most money. I wouldn't be having any part of that!

  60. Anyone notice how trashed Christines house is? The carpet is filthy, blinds are mising, sheets hanging over the windows. Her diswasher is gone. Just a whole now. Looks like the kitchen cabnets are damaged too. Oh and the backdoor had damage like the front one.

    1. Yes I noticed how unkempt the house is----and it was in great conditioned when they recently moved in

    2. I think that's why the sudden need to move by the end of the year. The landlord most likely did not renew her lease. Can you imagine what that mansion's going to look like after she moves in?

  61. If you look closely at the background while Kody is digging the grave and breaking down, you will see Drake happily sniffing along with his tail somewhat up. Creepy! Also, why isn't Meri spending any available last moments with her beloved pet, instead of just standing there watching Kody?

  62. Janelle and Christine are now listed as Admin Assistants to Mona, on the web page for TMI Realty.

  63. I had to laugh out loud when Kody said upon the launch of the site - that SOME people might just be looking not buying. "Some" people??? Lol

  64. Did anyone else think the ‘meeting with designers’ with Mykelti was just odd? It just seemed like they threw something together at the very last minute. And the whole ‘woman in a bra and Kody is such a gentleman’…..oh PLEASE can we be spared that ridiculousness. Plus I think Kody’s body language on the couch time was very obvious that he doesn’t think this fashion thing is a good idea….I don’t know if it’s because Mykelti would be working with women in bras or because he doesn’t believe his girls should have careers because they need to get married and have kids….and then think about careers after their husbands fail to provide for them and their brood of kids. It was an awkward little segment.

    1. YES it was odd.. if this show is called "sister wives" why does Kody
have to be in EVERY frame shown?

    2. I'm sure the Darger's show being called "My 3 Wives" was due to the fact that Sister Wives should have been called Kody and his Sister Wives.

  65. I watched both episodes and all I can think of is . . . Train Wreck!!! They are broke and desperate. Get a job Kody!!!

  66. If you are going to put a dog down for joint pain and incontinence, I want to hear it is in conjunction with a reasonable trial of joint supplements, pain meds, accupuncture, adequan injections, and incontinence meds, all of which are not nearly as expensive as a compulsive shopping habit, which it seems Meri has. Only when you have tried management, and the dog is in pain, do you put it down. Killing a dog is not the first response to puddles on the floor. And how about a decent orthopedic egg crate dog bed for the dog, rather than that thin blanket on a hard tile floor?

It's one thing for the Browns to be self centered douches, but I am furious that TLC aired this crap.

And re Christine whining about not having help with her two year old, and wanting her sister wives to help YOU HAVE TEEN AGED CHILDREN CHRISTINE. THEY CAN BABYSIT.

Re the plea for us all the buy their "joolerry", how selfish do you have to be to ask others to spend their hard earned cash to let your lazy selfish "family" with no financial integrity build McMansions and have more children even after multiple bankruptcies and sponging off taxpayer assistance.

  67. All the snark on this board is ruining me! Cuddle sac... Kody- Pendants, etc. But calling the necklace a 'dog paw' was too much. I'm never going to be able to look at that again and not see a dog paw.

Now quit being so funny or I'm 'taking you to Utah!' =8-P

  68. How much money has Kody contributed to "providing for his wives and children"? I am talking outside of what TLC is paying, just what financial support has Kody given? Janelle is the only one of the 5 (four sister wives and Kody) that is truely a worthwhile and responsible person. Why does she stay and put up with those four? Surely she is aware the TLC money will stop. People are already getting discusted with Kody totally lacking any financial support! He cannot keep depending upon the governments welfare aid to support his families, how many more bankrupcies is he planning to keep from working a job?

  69. Seriously sending a complaint letter to TLC. I am still so appalled.

  70. My first thought was that Meri didn't want Drake to mess up her new mansion. If he had other health problems, then they should have made them known. Only they know if they did the right thing for poor Drake. I'm glad Christine passed her RE exam. It was terrible that the other wives didn't offer to help babysit so she could study. They each have their own agendas and don't seem to be willing to help each other anymore, which is sad. I hope Janelle continues to do well on her fitness journey. Too bad she couldn't work with Bob on Biggest Loser.

Yes the charm looks like a dog's paw that's what I thought it was meant to be.

  72. Christine, please get the hell out of this disaster now that you have a way to support your family. Take Janelle with you. You two gals could run your own real estate business and leave the rest of the Brown Mess behind.

  73. Long time reader, first time to post. Did anyone notice the stains on Christine's carpet or the fact that the vertical blinds by her front door are broken? Wonder what the rest of the house looks lke?
Love this blog, thanks to all who make it happen.

  74. I don't know if someone wrote about this yet (I haven't had a chance to read everything so far) but did anyone notice when Kody was helping load things in Meri's car and the hatchback was broken and she says something like "It wont stay up" and Kody goes "Oh really?!" as if he didn't know that yet.

Grrrrrr! Kody you are so out of touch! My husband is the first to know what is wrong with my car because he cares. I know that sounds really weird Kody but it's this strange thing that happens when a man is actually a good husband. Before I/we leave town my husband changes my oil and makes sure the tires are ok to go among other precautions. I have to admit that is one of the most romantic things a man can do which is CARE!

It seems like a flashback from when they "fled" Utah in a hurry. He didn't check the cars thus they broke down several time on their way to Vegas. Kody is just so out of touch with what really matters (car maintenance). Instead of buying overpriced McMansions he should put their TLC money towards buying his wives safe reliable vehicles and affordable homes to ensure they will be there for years to come instead of facing the inevitable foreclosure. Instead he gets himself the car *rolls eyes*

Meanwhile poor, naive Christine trying to get her real estate license and thinking she is going to get a "big fat commission check." I have several friends in real estate here in Vegas and they are all have "day jobs."

    The dog issue: UGHHHH!

  75. The unnecessary killing of the dog was out of line and took our family from being annoyed with the Browns to actually truly disliking this horrible family. We have a veterinarian in our family with whom we watched the show and were all horrified. While incontinence can be a sign of more profound issues, Drake did not show any of the symptoms on the show. Drake was mobile, wagging his tail and happy. This was an obvious planned and staged death, taking the dog to the former residence and having him examined by a mobile vet in the yard. The disgusting part (other than killing a family member for ratings) was the incessant blathering all about them-- Meri and Kody. They did not mourn the dog; they mourned the hard choices that they had to make and sacrifices in giving up a house in Utah. They selfishly took the dog to a foreign location (because dogs have very short term memories as opposed to associative tendencies) to kill it. There is nothing therapeutic for the dog in being killed in a location that he no longer remembers. It was all about me, me, me to Kody and Meri. To her credit, Meriah seemed to care about the dog.

As far as the money issues, we live in Las Vegas and have been tracking the progress with these residences. There is no way in God's green earth that this family can afford these residences unless is buying the residences for them. We all understand NSW Closet did not work. The other ventures did not work. A search of real estate licenses shows Christine and Janelle doing no real estate work currently. Yet they are trying to close on over $1.6MM in houses.

Speaking of shilling worthless products rather than earning a living, I get the MSW Closet stuff and why no one wants to purchase it. What is this Detox stuff?

No offense, but this is not a family who screams health conscious in any way.
