Discussion Page for S05Ep01 Sister Wives 11/18/12, page 2

Just a note - What does everyone feel about Meri getting as large a house? Is it fair when Janelle's children are sharing rooms? Thoughts?

200 comments:

  1. Merri has earned the right to have a large house as the primary wife. She is also paying for that house herself. The others should be quiet and raise their broods. By the way, how does Kody bring in money. It seems all his is good for is hopping from house to house. NOTE: stop stressing Meri on having another baby.

  2. I currently live in Vegas and like to garage sale on the weekends. Do you know how many homes for sale on one street in modest neighborhoods I see every weekend?? Homes that will run 200k each instead of a half million each. I think Meri is selfish. I agree that if they are purchasing homes in this subdivision with high priced homes they will all have huge houses. No devoloper with build a 3 bedroom home amongst 7 bedrooms. So of course she would get a big one. SOmeone else beside Meri decided to pursue purchase there. Namely Kody Because "he deserves more than a dirt farm". Maybe Robyn should show them all how to live in a trailer park with a wood burning stove. Imagine the money they would save. I bet they could get 4 double wides on an acre for 200k.

    1. Also in response to my comment above. I think that there is some serious backlash going on with what happened in the premerie. People are pissed that the browns are coming off so entittled and greedy. If Christine mentioned they didnt get the homes at the UNLV speaking appereance last month it obviously fell through. If they were smart they would focus on down sizing. And get back on the viewers good side. Show more of everyday life not all the excessive trips and over rated drama that seems so made up. I think thats why we all tuned in, In the begininng. To see what an average Tuesday night was like for the Browns. Not the stress and fakeness of not affording homes close to 2 million dollars.

    2. I'm not sure janelle wants a 7 bedroom house. Seems like she said it was 5 bedrooms?

But yes they seem comfortable in the rentals and they aren't 5-7 bedrooms.

    3. does anyone know why Meri and Robin cannot share a house?

    4. I believe Meri and Robyn sh would share too. They are alleged bffs.

    5. Why should they have to? First of all no one told them to have all those kids, the fact that Meri can't,has or shouldn't have anything to do with it.Why doesn't anyone look at it that way and stop hurting her. Besides Mari is the only one that is legally married to Kody.

      Delete
    6. Meri should move on with her life. I hope she finds happiness, Kody is making her miserable. Kody needs another baby like he needs to lose another hair off his thinning head!

  3. This was the part of the episode that annoyed me the most! I understand not being able to have more kids is hard. But come on Meri you are an adult so please start acting like one. We all want things in life we can't have and we just have to learn to accept that.

Also, It seems like a common theme for Meri, whether it's about having more kids or getting the homes, she wants the end result but doesn't want the struggles along the way. Meri to me seems like a child who has been catered to by Kody.

  4. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Why would anyone need a big house with only one child?! It does not balance at all using any checks and balances. How the rest of the family can buy into this just adds to the bizarro denial world.
    Unfair all the way around!

    1. What is the problem aren't they the one's that had all the kids? One day all of their kids will be gone, will they get roommates or move into a smaller house? Mari is the only legal one and she just got there first. Is it really fair that they latched onto her husband they could have said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Lifes not fair she can't have more babies and they have to share. Besides Mari shares Kody evenly thats harder than money.

  5. If Meri had 7 kids and Janelle had 1 child what would Meri say about Janelle having a 7 bedroom house?

    1. Exactly!!! I read the book and when the 3 of them got together the only one working was Janelle. Kody would travel for business and Meri would quit the job she had to go with him and leave Janelle. For someone that says they believe in plural marriage, Meri certainly acts like the other wives are there to facilitate her life.

      Delete
    2. Janelle would never insist on it. This is not a show about polygamy. Last night showcased that perfectly. Its a show about what happens when your self esteem is low and you happen to live in Utah. You may get sucked into a polygamist family with the idea of fitting in. Janelle is the only one not raised in this and she is the most self sacrificing. That just shows she learned it growing up while her "sister" wives have learned to manipulate and work the system of the polygamous household. Meri is out of control. Her and Kody and sick and sadistic people. Robin is a pawn for Meri and she now has her sister moving in on the action. I hope Christine and Janell will move out together, start a spin off " breaking free". I would much rather see them figure out how to live apart from this horrible situation than the rest of it. They would be ahead of the game with out all the Robin/Meri drama. If any sister wife is reading this..... Men take care of there children, they love there wives. Kody and Meri and not worth your time. RUN!!!

  6. Since Kody and Meri are the only ones legally married, the other wives are able to collect welfare. Also, any earnings from the show are paid in Kody's name only and he disperses as needed, so the wives can continue to collect welfare checks.

    1. Anon 2:55 - you need to indicate that is your opinion.

I'm guessing that TLC or F8F - whoever is paying them - cuts a check made payable to Brown Family Entertainment and then they divy it up from there.

I think it's fairly safe to say that none of the Browns are collecting any sort of welfare at this point. The government - state AND federal - are aware (I'm sure) that they are participating in this show and getting income from it. Government is run by people, not machines.

Also, if any of the women were on public assistance of any kind i doubt that they would have qualified. although my opinion is that what aired last night was a sham to begin with.

    2. Robyn could get benefits because she has Dayton

      Delete
    3. maybe - but I have a couple of friends with autistic children and what benefits they do get, don't amount to much. Hopefully for her kids' sake, she's still getting child support from their dad.

    4. What was hard to see was that Debt Repair guy say that Robyn had a debt for $4000 and yet on the last episode earlier this year...Robyn didn't have a problem at all writing a $5000 "earnest" check.

As far as Meri....GIRL, wake up!!! Don't get such a big house!! Get a smaller house that has a jacuzzi on that deck you want...since Mariah will be going off to college you can make your home the "Getaway" house for Kody...c'mon use your brain. Think about it..1 house with 6 kids, another with 6 kids and another with 4 kids....and Meri's with no kids! Which sounds the most appealing... you don't need to be a brain surgeon to figure that one out.

I always thought it was funny with the big controversy of Meri getting a big rental house....yet Robyn and Christine unloaded their daughters onto Meri to have live with them.

      Delete
    5. I don't think that Robyn's and Christine's daughters stay with Meri permanently. It was just a sleepover.

I read somewhere that Meri is like an aunt or grandparent...when she's tired of having the other kids there - she can send them back to their *real* mommies. She plays the Mom Card when it suits her.

    6. In most states, when a single mother applies for welfare(not food stamps,WIC..but monthly cash)the absent father is taken to court by the Welfare office and court ordered to pay child support for the kids on welfare to the state.

      Delete
    7. The courts can order anything but most of the time are too busy or won't follow up. I do know that for a fact, even when given address and work place and family for eight years nothings been done. We also have an Autistic child yes we get help but it goes by what mom makes and you have to use it for the child and their expenses which can be costly, you have to report it. So she can't pay old bills off.

  7. To the poster with IVF experience:

Thank you for the financial info, though I am truly sorry you've had to go through this. I cannot begin to imagine the physical and emotional toll.

It really bothers me that the Browns act like IVF and surrogacy is as easy as your husband's lover offering to be your "surggit.". On occasion the Browns attempt to cultivate a fan base and therefore I believe they have a moral responsibility to not act like the hardest part of this process is whether Meri wants to start over again.

I wondered if some of Sobbin Robyn's tears were from pregnancy hormones but i dont think that anymore! Even so, could you imagine the rivers of tears from IVF hormones and giving up a baby she carried? She has no idea what she (insincerely) offered.

As someone who's gone through IVF and had to deal with people not understanding how grueling it is, I don't appreciate the nonchalant and unrealistic way they talk about it.

  9. I thnk they all come off as selfish. For so much talk of losing their "familial closeness" in Utah when they "fled" to Las Vegas, they all seem to forget the fact that THREE families were living in one house and that Robyn was the odd man out. So, I still do not understand if they want true "sister wifery" why they are not all living together in one big house and only building one big house.
Sure might make the finances a heck of a lot easier. Maybe living with sister wives is not all that they make it out to be . . .

  10. This whole thing is a complete sham! Christine claimed bankruptcy in 2010, Google it and you'll find her filing documents. She was still collecting $1800 a year in food stamps in 2010, how does she now have enough credit and assets to buy a house?? I'd add the link to the documents but I'm not sure it's allowed on the forum. Also, their house in Utah was in Janelle's name, no one else's. Kody was added to the deed but was not on the mortgage.

    1. All 4 of them have done a bankrubtcy. Robyns was, 85,000. With only $2000 of it being medical, one of the creditors she owed to was Victoria Secret. So all 4 of them have claimed chapter 7. These people make Kate Gosselin look like a saint.

    4. "Also, their house in Utah was in Janelle's name, no one else's. Kody was added to the deed but was not on the mortgage."

Actually, that's not true. Kody, Meri, and Janelle are all on the current mortgages - yes, I said mortgages with an 's'. They have both a first and second mortgage on the house in Lehi, and owe at least $100k more than the house is currently worth. That is most likely why they are renting the house out, rather than trying to sell it. Also, if any of the kids do decide to go to college in Utah, they can get in-state tuition rates.

    5. Also, if any of the kids do decide to go to college in Utah, they can get in-state tuition rates.

Only if they show proof of attending a Utah high school the previous year. Also, their parents need to have their legal residence in Utah. You can review the residency requirements here:

  11. The entire show is a complete SHAM. The entire storyline about the $450,000 home is completely made up. This people could never quality for homes in that price range. They don’t have the credit or the jobs to pay for them. The producers are just scrambling for something to keep this show afloat. Mariah should receive an academy award for her performance. I seriously cannot believe this family would want to show how shadow and selfish they are. Couldn’t Meri explain that their family could not afford to spend $10,000 to $20,000 on IVF when they have 17 other children to take care of? I don’t understand how Mariah could possible afford to go to the University of Utah. Out of state tuition is close to $37,000 a year. Mariah can’t possibly get enough loans to cover that cost without a cosigner and no one in this family has enough good enough credit to cosign for her. Doesn’t anyone think or worry about finances in this family? FYI BROWN FAMILY..YOU CAN’T FILE BANKRUPSY ON STUDENT LOANS

    3. Unfortunately, Mariah's parent's address is in Las Vegas NV, and (assuming the Browns stay in Vegas) she will graduated from a Nevada high school.

The residency rules for being considered for in-state tuition:

      b) Evidence to satisfy the requirements under Subsection (3)(a)(iii) includes:
      (i) a Utah high school transcript issued in the past year confirming attendance at a Utah high school in the past 12 months;

  12. No one with one child needs a house that big unless they are rich and have nothing else to do with their money. What bothers me more than that is that Kody says love is to be multiplied not divided. UH DUH...his love IS divided. Wives feeling left out and wives awaiting his arrival. It doesn't make sense to me that they ALL don't live in one house. They ARE divided, not matter how Kody or the wives try to explain or justify the "family" being divided by living in separate housing units!!! It's stupid and endulgent. Doesn't make sense. It's obviously not ONE family, it's obviously FOUR families. What they are spending on four huge houses, they could buy a small mansion with wives having their own bedrooms for Kody to bed hop and have all the children to share a bedroom and in ONE house so they can be a real family. What the? Am I the only one that was surprised to hear even his brother has two wives in separate houses. The wives suffer but more importantly the children, every one of them suffer, not seeing their father on a daily basis.....sounds self enduldgent and selfish on Kody's part to me. I don't buy his family comes first bs, otherwise they would be a real family and live in one huge house they can afford!!!! JMHO not being judgemental, just observing and listening to the poor neglected children!

  13. Meri demanding a wet bar(when they don't drink) and a large house is beyond selfish. But ultimately, what I think about it is dwarfed by Janelle's words. On the couch, she said that HER KIDS asked why did Meri need that big of a house. That's the opinion that matters, the opinion of those that have to live with the consequences.

    1. So true- Janelle's kids had to do without, share bedrooms, etc, all while their mom worked hard to financially support the other adults. Meri's "expensive taste" and lofty demands must be hard for them to digest.

    1. I think that Meri should have a house that is equal to the other sister wives homes. She should not be penalized because she can not have more kids. So what if Christine's and Janelle's kids have to share rooms then they should have not had that many kids if they could not accomodate them. I have 3 kids and a 3 bedroom home 2 kids share a room I am not crying to my husband to buy a bigger house because we have 3 kids we make due. Don't have more kids then you can handle or afford and then don't complain when you are not able to provide the life that you FEEL they deserve. You supplied them with this life... remember you are there for teh sister wives and the family not the luxury living.

      Delete
    2. Meri would have 8 kids if she could have. She said that herself, last night.

Why do you blame Christine and Janelle? Meri has been living off of Janelle's income for years now. Remember - they wouldn't have been able to get the Lehi house without Janelle - SHE bought it. Meri hasn't done diddly squat other than be the legal wife. Supposedly they are all equal. yeah right!

      Delete
    3. Also......
According to their book, from the very beginning, Meri signed on to marrying the Kodster expecting/wanting to share him with other women. Women who would be EXPECTED to have baby after baby. She knew that going in. She also could have sought a career (and education) that paid well...but she didn't.

      Delete
    4. How is it penalizing Meri to have her not taking unneeded resources away from the rest of her "family" that needs them? Her "deserving" an "equal" amount just proves they don't see themselves as one unit.

  16. I think we all agree that the audience is being conned. Based on the age of Sol in the various clips, it would seem that Mona gave them ‘the news’ in about May or June. Kody wanted to be in by Christmas (of 2012 I think, they have been at this for so long, we will probably still be discussing this next year for 2013). We don’t know the terms of the supposed loan approvals so they may have gotten approved at 50% down and 20% interest for all we know. In October Christine stated at the UNLV event that they didn’t get the houses. So which is the real story? It’s hard because all of this old story was shot so many months ago and a lot has happened in real time. Another thing we should consider: although the wives are thinking of their own little families, Kody is thinking BIG PICTURE. This is why he is pushing Janelle for more bedrooms vs. common areas and is supporting Meri’s idea that she, too, needs a 7 bedroom house. He absolutely plans on more wives and kids….the older moms whose kids have grown and left home will move to a guest room and the new wife will move in and start birthing babies. Meri might get her wet bar (which was a big fu to all of us here who comment on her need for a wet bar) but she will soon be relegated to the room down the hall while Tara moves in and starts to provide lover with more children. This is how it is going to go down, whether it’s in the LV McMansions or in trailers in rural Nevada.

    2. Oh I SO agree with what you've said, CPA Carol. He said last night he wanted more kids (and struck me speechless!) Which wife is going to have them, do you suppose? Meri is sterile, Janelle disgusts him, Christine is starting to have an opinion, and how many more good years does Robin have left? How old is she, anyway?

    4. "Based on the age of Sol in the various clips, it would seem that Mona gave them ‘the news’ in about May or June."

Since next week's episode is about Logan graduating high school, May/June would be the correct timeline.

"...how many more good years does Robin have left? How old is she, anyway?"

Robyn just turned 34 in the beginning of October. She's at least seven years younger than Christine, who was the youngest wife, and eleven or twelve years younger than Kody.

Taralyce is Robyn's sister. She's also Robyn's live in babysitter for Sol. Actually, Robyn tweeted over a year ago that Taralyce was helping keep Robyn's house clean while she was pregnant with Sol. It appears she never left.

  17. I think they know how dysfunctional they are and that is why they have never even discussed living together in a big house like other big families. These women can't even work together in separate houses much less in one.
They need to remember that they have 17 kids (however many they have) and need to save for weddings, college, just normal stuff. How do they afford health insurance for the whole family?

They need to invest in a productive business/vocational training/careers before is too late. Wake up Browns!

They don't plan on paying for weddings, or college. Janelle said as much. She said on one show that she worked her way through college the kids will have to do the same. Mariah is in lala land, she cannot afford out of state tuition and even with loans cannot get this much money. Getting in to National Honor Society is not that hard, I did and although I have a Masters, there is no way I would ever have been able to become a doctor. In her religion in order to snag a husband she is going to have to get married young, and expected to have children. Having children and college is not easy and medical shcool is nearly impossible. No husband in this religion would tolerate the time that it would take to accomplish becoming a doctor.

I wonder if Kody is really good to her or wants to ditch her for a new younger wife. Kody seems to be just along for the ride and letting the "wives" are buy the houses. He seems like a real creep who is making a living off producing children. How many more, Kody????

Janelle has been subsidizing Meri for years - Meri isn't the one that doesn't assert herself, it's Janelle who all too often backs down. Meri is VERY bossy and from the book, it appears that she's been making Janelle's life miserable...all because of some made up religious requirement. bleah.

  19. I live in Vegas and drove by these houses last month. They are all currently under construction, although quite a ways from being completed. They were just putting the siding on them. There is one still for sale and they want $460,000 for it, although it's not one of THE "houses". So let's do some math here. Generally a bank will finance you up to 3x your household income. That means that they have to prove they are making over $600,000 a year for at least the last 3 years. Not happening for them. Banks are not lending money to people, especially in Las Vegas, which has the worst unemployment in the nation and has the 2nd most foreclosures. There are too many people paying cash for homes in Vegas now, since there are some pretty good deals. I also looked up the street name in the Clark County accessor records, and as of this morning, those properties are still listed as owned by Pinnacle Homes, the developer. If they had been approved, these homes would be done by now and they would be moved in, like the other residents in that development are. I mean come in, it's been over 6 months and developers don't get the money until the homes close! They are not going to sit on almost 2 million dollars worth on inventory! I will try and take a picture and send it in so you can see the progress and can judge for yourselves.

Please follow up on this. Very interesting. Good investigative work! I guess their TLC income was enough for the developer to build the houses. As was said by someone else.....Meri and Kody probably receive payment from the show on behalf of everyone else and it is divided out from there.....and what makes everyone think it would be divided evenly?? Not necessarily. Would love to see a photo if you can get one.

  20. I actually had to watch this in two sittings it was so boring.

Everytime Christine opens her mouth Kody slams her. Am I the only one that noticed him say sarcastically, "I'm sorry you're stomach's upset but this is about more than your water bill."? I think what she was trying to communicate was that she felt out of her depth with regards to paying bills. She is tryly miserable. And he's just all snuggled up with either Robyn or Meri while he blasts her.

Meri is a selfish b****. How in the world can she justify an 8 bedroom house for 1 1/4 people? (Mariah is leaving and Kody is only there 1/4 of the time.) Seriously?! It would seem to me that having Robyn live with Meri would make much more sense. At least then the space would be closer to equal for the entire family.

Mariah is the same as Meri. A big (REALLY BIG) baby and whiner. She has the best of everything and still wants more. Kody is all over her. He's not with any of the other kids except Sol. It's disgusting.

I noticed Christine holding Sol in the realtor's office. None of the others ever held Truely...

Robyn's an idiot. She cries and blames but she knows she'll get what she wants in the end. But I see this family splitting up and she'll be the first to go when she realizes it isn't going to be all bunnies and butterflies. She still has hope right now.

No love lost between Maddie and Kody. The animosity was palpable on the couch.

Well I think I'll take my 600 credit score and go fill out an application for a home loan....

    1. I'm glad you mentioned that slam Kootie made to Christine! I didn't even really get what she was crying about and his slam was out of nowhere...there seemed to be more to that little scene. I mean I understood that she was communicating she was over her head, but she was crying after they already showed they got their approvals and he had such a hate look when he was snarky with her.....definately more going on there...maybe we find out later that she was unable to keep up with her "requirements" to meet loan approval and thats what he's been so vicious about...I'm just guessing, who knows!

But, YES you are right, they all seem miserable...I just don't understand it...LEAVE...I mean they could bail on him and room up together. He add ZERO to their happiness and well being.

  21. After reading the book and especially Janelle's portion, I don't think too much of Meri. I think it's sad that Janelle accepts the ways she's been treated but I know that many polygamists are 4-5th generation. It's what they know.
Meri is selfish. And, the reason she cries about allegedly not making a decision about the infertility issue is because she really doesnt want more kids. She likes her life the way it is. And I dont think any of them needs houses that big. It's stupid. Not to mention offensive when you realize that taxpayers support their families through food stamps, etc.
I think that the reason Janelle's children are so against polygamy is because they have seen how their mother has been treated by Kody and Meri. Kody has no idea whats going on with his kids or wives. He bops between the houses and isnt really involved. It's ridiculous.
Also, I think that its mostly the fundamentalist Mormons that abuse welfare, etc rather than mainstream Mormons. Flora Jessop has been interviewed several times and has said the same. Also there are a lot of books, articles out there by former polygamist women that talk about the abuse and poverty etc. Even on Big Love, they talked about credit card debt and owing etc..

      Bitsy,

I think you make a very good point about Janelle's children. While I think that Janelle has not always been nice to Meri, either (wasn't it said that she pretty much used her first pregnancy to hurt Meri?), there is no question that Meri is (1) favored by Kody and (2) took a long time to accept her as a wife. When Kody talks about his marriage to Janelle it is in such cold, detached terms; they have a business like arrangement, he learned to love her. On the flip side, Mariah is all about polygamy, probably because she has seen her mom actually be cherished and loved, if only for 1/3rd (later 1/4th) of the time.

      Good insight!

Actually, what Janelle said was, at that point, she was so tired of Meri's cruelty that she didn't care if her being the first to get pregnant hurt Meri's feelings. I don't think she went out of her way to hurt Meri.

Sure the kids may have to share a bedroom, but that has never hurt my kids. It would definitely make more sense.

      Delete
    2. I wonder if the reason they don't build one big house is that Kody can be charged with polygamy if his wives are all under one roof. If they live in separate houses, then he is legally only married to one and only 'visits' the other women. DOes anyone know if this is the case?

for these families. Form follows Function. No doubt they are thinking of possible resale of the larger homes - but still utilities, taxes and upkeep
is ongoing. As Kody enjoys the perks of this arrangement, he should be

I suspect that the reason that Mariah wants Meri to get pregnant is that Mariah notices Meri's obvious detachment from the other sister-wives. Mariah knows she's going to be an adult in a few years, which means that Meri will have less incentive to stay in this situation, so Mariah believes that Meri's hypothetical new baby will keep her "roped in" for another 18 years.

    Anyone else have this theory?

I was thinking that's exactly why Kody wants Meri to have another baby to keep her "trapped" for another 18 yrs...but Meri could always file child support on Kody since she is the legal 1st wife. I would think that the other wives could do the same even though they're not legally married, since they're legally his offspring anyways.

    3. finallly seeing realityNovember 19, 2012 at 11:14 PM

I don't think she is thinking of leaving, she would have to support herself then and could not afford all those vacations. I don't blame her for not wanting anymore kids. Who at that age with almost an empty nest and freedom wants another baby? She would not be free to go with Kody on all those trips with another child. IVF is not easy and expensive and the chances of a child with disablities is much higher at her age. I personally would not do it.

      Delete
    4. I'm about the same age as Meri and I definitely wouldn't want any more kids. However, it seems that the only way to get any attention from Kody is to get pregnant, so it's probably the attention that Meri craves and not the child. Very sad.

First, I want to say that the comments since the show Sunday are so right on, thanks to all who have posted, it sure makes for some good reading....second, it makes no sense at all that Meri should have the same huge home as her sister wives with more kids, sorry Meri was unable more kids, even tho she wanted them, but facts are facts, Meri is very selfish and possibly believes having a huge home will make up for her lack of kids....sorry, Meri, doesn't work that way and how many of us on here have said: why do they all need their own new McMansion anyway?? Fine if they can all afford it, but it's so glaringly obvious (even to their own kids) that they cannot afford it and that brings me to my next point: there is so much wrong with this family, that it is difficult to find anything right...I thought Maddie, Janelle and Kody's conversation on the couch was very tense and telling....Maddie refused to even look at her dad, she stared straight ahead and seemed scared, but spoke her mind anyway....very brave of her, (Go Maddie!!!!) wonder if she got some flack from it afterwards, even tho Kody claims that the kids can make up their own minds, I truly doubt that....this show was hard for me to watch, so many lies, contradictions, teasers and fake-outs, I really hope for the kids' sake, that it is over soon....

2nd-ALL 5 OF THEM -should have had a decent DOWN PAYMENT -just from the TLC money-WE HAVE ALLLLL speculated on what TLC is paying them.. AND what that 'LIV' company is paying or giving them in barter or 'diet' supplements...
    BUT!!!!!
whether they are getting 20k, $40k, $60k or higher an episode.... they should have had some of it PUT AWAY.. SINCE THE KODSTER FORMED THAT 'BROWN ENTERTAINMENT' (which HAD TO BE on the advice of a lawyer-probably a TLC lawyer). WHERE OH WHERE, KODY IS YOUR MONEY???? did you pay $$$$ for some of those 'newer' cars???

ALSO.... there was alot on the web about ROBYN declaring BANKRUPTCY in MEXICO!! right before her marriage-not sure how this happens, nor do I have any link to it. BUT.... also.. I would never ever describe someone as having ALOT OF DEBT, BAD DEBT, (etc. etc. etc. ) when all you have to do is have a 'ambulance chaser' lawyer speak to ONE CREDITOR=the one she 'owes' $4k to, AND ALL YOU BIG BAD CREDIT PROBLEMS-PUFFFFF!!!!! disapear!!!! (this thing-3 different names-they made it seem like she was committing FRAUD when it had to be her single name, her 1st husband's last name, and her usin Kody's last name. While BROWN is not LEGALLY her last name, there is NOTHING ILLEGAL about her using it, AS LONG AS SHE IS NOT OFF TRYING TO COMMIT FRAUD!!!

But, as someone who has had things on my credit report THAT ARE NOT MINE (WE ARE TRYING TO GET A HOMEOWNERS LOAN RIGHT NOW!!!!-AND we have had our mortgage for 13 years-WITHOUT A PROBLEM!!!) this 'MAGIC WAND' thing is BS!!!

    1. but remember - they all lost/quit their jobs when they moved to LV - so they are LIVING on that TLC money, and whatever Kody gets from hawking his MLM and persuading others to sign up in his downline. (the jewelry is not even a blip right now).

Let's face it - they can't possibly be making all that much. The show is NOT that highly rated and really at least 50% of last night's show was old footage from the last couple seasons. I'm guessing the fam probably gets at best $250-300k a season. And no way is TLC just paying their rent - 4 houses x $1500/month (my estimate) so out of the show money they have the following expenditures:
Rent - $72,000 a year and apparently their rent doesn't include the water or electrical bill, probably not garbage either, so they're on the hook for that.
Food for 21 people (20 now that Logan is gone)
      clothing for 20-21 people
Car expenses - car payments, gas, maintenance, insurance (which must be a HUGE payment since they have how many teenagers who are driving now...? 3? and Hunter coming up soon...)
and all those trips to Disneyland, which i can assure you are not being subsidized by TLC/F8F since there's no way they can film them as Disney would NEVER allow it.

Now if they were like the Duggars or the Roloffs, they would have that money socked away, but IMO they've more than likely pissed it away, and not even bothered to pay off old debts.

    2. Regarding Robyn's last names, I'd like to know if she's actually applied for credit under the Brown name, or if this is a case of the credit bureau incorrectly attributing that last name to her. It's not unheard of for a woman to rent an apartment with a platonic male roommate, only to see the male roommate's last name end up as one of her "other names used" on her credit report. Credit bureaus opine if a woman is associated with a male financially, she might be married to him and/or using his last name. As just one example, if Robyn and Kody were both on the OBGYN's medical bills for Solomon's prenatal care, they're probably financially linked in their credit reports, which could be enough for Robyn to be pegged with his last name.

No one no longer assumes a man and woman are married and using the same name. Many couples live together for long periods of time and have children together although not married. Some women get married and keep their madien name and not their husband's. These are all common in this day and age.

I commented about Meri and the houses on the other thread. I will not repeat that here, except to say that I think that the Browns live a lifestyle that devalues Meri because of her infertility and this is playing out in the houses (perhaps orchestrated by TLC to illustrate the disparity.)

Does Meri need a nice, large house (not sure how it got assumed that she wanted a 7 or 8 bedroom house; I think she specifically said that she just wanted things as equally nice as the other wives, then made the wet bar faux pas)? No. Her family needs a two bedroom home to live comfortably. However, in most parts of the country, a large house denotes a nice neighborhood while smaller houses are generally in lower socio-economic areas (there are some exceptions of course; one major one is 55+ housing, which often consists of 2BR homes/condos in higher-end areas.) I am not saying that Meri would live in a “bad” neighborhood. Far from it; I happen to own two 2 BR homes, both areas are lovely. However, they do not have the status of the neighborhoods with larger homes. I do think that Meri deserves to have as nice a neighborhood as her sister wives.

That said, I am kind of disheartened by the word “deserves.” I do not know what the Brown family makes, income wise. For all I know, they could be wealthy from this celebrity (I kind of gagged a little writing that word.) But assuming this is an unwise decision for them, I do not think ANY of the family members “deserve” a McMansion. There is nothing about having more children than you can reasonably afford (or devote time to – I’m looking at you Cryin’ Robyn) that automatically makes someone deserving of a large house. If they can afford trailers, they all deserve trailers. If they deserve McMansions, they all deserve McMansions.

As I said in part one, I think the only truly equitable solution is to have one large home.

  34. I think Meri's obsession with having a house just as big as everyone else's just points to the insecurity and jealousy this lifestyle seems to breed. It's obvious, probably even to Meri, that she doesn't need that house and it's plain selfishness to insist on spending that money when she's about to be an empty nester. But she talks about "fairness" and not being "punished", because she needs this outward sign that she's on equal footing with the other wives with more kids. A huge house that's extravagant in relation to her needs and budget is not going to make her happier or more fulfilled, but in her mind it is going to prove that she's just as valuable as the other wives, because Kody is willing to give her an equal amount of "stuff". I'm sure when you're sharing your husband with three other women you start to feel some need for external things to validate your importance, no matter how childish and shallow that might be.
That being said, I wish Janelle had stuck to her guns. As the sole possessor of any wisp of common sense in that family, I'm surprised she hasn't lost her mind by this point.

I don't think in ANY relationship we should be constantly worrying about fairness or entitlement but instead, looking to what WE can bring to the table for others...Furthermore, it's not just selfish to the other wives but think of the children..Those women should not have equal household budgets...They should have budgets that fit the needs of each family. I am so angry when I think of how Meri feels she should get the same budget as Janelle with more children...SHE IS TAKING MONEY FROM THE OTHER CHILDREN IN THIS FAMILY by doing this...So what the heck Meri..You think you are being PUNISHED because others look at you and wonder why you are more worried about getting your "fair share" and what is "equal" to the other families instead of trying to do what is right and best for the family?....TSK TSK Meri..Is this what they teach you in your religion? What kind of example are you setting for your children?....If I was a kid in that family, growing up, I sure would wonder why one of the mom's lived in a big house to herself while I heard about money being tight, etc...

She may have the right to express her opinion politely, but to DEMAND that they do things just because that's what she wants??? Really?? Since when do children have the right to tell their parents what to do & then stomp off in a fit?? She is still a child & has no idea whatsoever about what is involved in ivf treatments & the decision should really have nothing to do with her. My siblings & I were taught to be respectful to our parents, particularly our mother. Then after the child (Mariah) is done reprimanding her parents, her mother apologizes to her!!!! Crazy!!!!! What is the deal with not only allowing your child to be rude & disrespectful, but then following that with an apology for not doing what your child demands you do???

    1. Mariah is being manipulated by both parents about the IVF and she's clearly anxious about it. I'm sure Meri has her deep in the drama since it's just the two of them. Their whole culture is about having babies and that's all Mariah knows, she's still a kid

      Delete
  41. Ok, if in fact in real life they haven't got these homes, why do they put the kids through the excitement and wishful thinking like they did last night. So aggravating.

  42. Long time lurker, first time poster. I couldn't stand it thus time! That Mariah has me in a temper! Since when does a child have the right to demand that the parents do what she wants?? She has no idea whatsoever about ivf & its ramifications because she is still a child!! Not only was she rude & disrespectful, but then her mother apologized to her for not doing what she demanded!! Really??? Since when do anyone's children have the authority to decide about their parents fertility issues?? Good Lord! Not all of the children behave that way, & I think it has to do with which mother trained them!

  43. 1 kids is out of the house and 2 more will be out in a couple of years. Janelle will be in an empty house too. Because she left a few years there is a big gap between 5 and 6.

What happens when wife 5 comes along?

None of them need a house that big.

    Kody looks pregnant.

I think it's great Mariah got national honor society. Not bad for a kid in a homeschool coop in an unfamiliar place. Healthcare field has lots of jobs. I hope she keeps all options open. Ten years of school may not be realistic. I hope she gets a degree fairly quickly so she has the freedom to earn money.

Funny Janelle who had so much of the bills in her name cause Kodys credit ugly and her break from the family didn't help. And Robyn split from a monogamous marriage are the ones in the deepest financial hole. I hope all the girls get a skill before they marry so they can support the kids if they need to leave their future families for a time or start over completely.

  44. I dislike speaking ill of Mariah, since I'm certain she will grow out of at least some of these behaviors (& look back on these episodes and cringe!), I DO think she has quite the sense of entitlement right now. She seems to see herself on the same level as the other Sister Wives, otherwise how could she even begin to try to tell her mother what she should be doing with her body or life??

Kody is horrible as always. I no longer have any sympathy for any of the wives. Continuing to stay with that horrible pig-man and allowing him that much power over their daily welfare is masochistic in some way, especially since it is broadcast on national television. He doesn't even have a proper job.

From Meri's whining about how she "deserves" a large house (instead of sharing or living in an in-law suite as suggested earlier!) it is clear she does not believe in selfless love for her sister wives. Her insistence on the "BIG HOUSE" is taking away from the already very finite resources the Browns have to work with.

Finally, I get some schadenfreude from seeing Meri's huge weight gain. Hadn't she been pretty snarky and rude about weight issues to Janelle in the past? Serves her right. I don't care how many 5ks she plans on running, ugly is as ugly does, and that lady has one hell of an ugly attitude.

    1. Hell No. Let her wallow in debt - it makes for better TV.

TLC is not a charitable organization. and if they "bail out" one of their families/participants, other prospects are going to expect the same. IMO.

  47. I think that Meri can have a large house if she wants... if she can afford it. Just like the Spelling's had a gigantic mansion for only 2 children - but they could afford it. The difference here is that Meri (or any of the wives for that matter) can't afford it.

I really liked this show when it first came out. I now watch it because they are such a hot mess. I would have so much more respect for them if they show how they are working to make ends meet. Couponing, pooling resources, upcycling, shopping consignment and thrift stores. I think that would bring a whole new element of interest to the show because so many Americans can relate to that - even if they can't relate to polygamy.

This episode was particularly frustrating because it was SO pieced together. Solomon is old, then he's young, Kody's hair is longer, then shorter, Robyn is thinner, then heavier. They were all over the place. TLC did a poor job telling the story with this episode.

But alas, I will continue to tune in week after week to watch this train wreck!

  48. Okay, so this might sound a bit catty.... I think rather than Meri getting a 7 bedroom McMansion, that the money would be better spent on plastic surgery. Her chin looks like she dove into the shallow end of a swimming pool and her chin crushed up and never went back to its normal position. I also think that Robyn should spend some of her money on some good cover up type makeup. I know that there has to be something on the market that would cover up those horrid herpes that shes gets all over her lips! The MAC counter might be a good starting place for Robyn.

  50. One other thing I meant to mention. I'm 90% certain you can't just "take on someone's debt during divorce". I've never been through a divorce, but I read a lot of finance books. I'm pretty sure that even if someone agrees to pay a debt, unless the debt was actually moved in to that persons name, they aren't actually responsible. So if Robyn and her ex had debt together and it was in the ex's name, unless he somehow moved that debt in to her name, she couldn't officially (according to a creditor) take on his debt. And if she chose not to pay debt that was in his name, it would negatively impact HIS credit, not hers. However, if the debt was in her name (ie - her debt), then it's hers to pay back and something creditors can take action on and can negatively impact her credit report.

And I understand that she didn't magically have $4k to pay that one credit card bill when she first got divorced. But in 4 years, you couldn't pay anything towards it? Maybe not take a trip to Disney and put that money towards it. Maybe not completely furnish your rental home and put that money towards it. It's very hard to feel bad for someone telling you how creditors have hounded them as a single mother when they've aired a lot of frivolous expenses on national television!

    1. when i got divorced, the judge just split all the joint bills down the middle. I was responsible for the bills that were just in my name (a lot of store cards mostly). Fortunately I had paid most of them off before we split up.

  51. Robin crying about her debts really got to me. We all have our debts, and have had bad times in our lives...but we take responsibility for it. She takes absolutely none. She cries how she had no money after food/clothing/necessities, but how hard is it really to make a minimum payment? You screwed up, deal with it. Don't try to make people feel sorry for you because you were a single mom with 3 kids and those meanie collectors wanted you to pay them instead of feeding your kids. You ignored the debt, changed your name, filed for bankruptcy, then married into a family to get on TV, get famous, and get money. Why on earth would you have another baby when you can't afford the 3 you already have? It's disgusting. These people are mentally ill and are running a scam.
Their lifestyle is criminal and they are too.

  52. I used to be a BIG fan of the Sister Wives show. Then I learned more about the treatment of women in these relationships. They're all relyng on their men to get them into heaven-oh my! Better not put pepper on those eggs, missy!

I think they're not the brightest group of people. Why wouldn't they built one house? Who wants four times the bills? Its a lot cheaper to split ONE mortgage, one water bill, one insurance payment, one gas bill, etc. So they want four different homes, okay. Well don't make them too big. Because their kids will be grown and gone long before the homes are paid off. I honestly hope TLC pulls the plug on this lazy, entitled bunch.

Last night, I was really put off by Robins woe-is-me pity party. Am I supposed to pity her because she was a single mom? Booh-hoo. I was a single mom. But I paid all of my own bills. I didn't hide from them. I took care of them. Its called being responsible. She obviously learned nothing in her last marriage. She keeps having kids that she won't be able to care for if it doesn't work out, her husband dies or becomes disabled. Don't have more kids than you can afford to support BY YOUR SELF. I guess Robins mother forgot that life lesson. Robin uses having babies as her meal ticket.

I also think its PURE greed to expect a huge home when you have one child. Its irresponsible

As far as Meri's surrogacy drama...I think she's dragging it out to keep the attention on herself. I think she's also playing the victim card with the houses for Kody's attention.

  55. One more thought. I finally made it through more of the episode..it was making me so mad I had to turn it off...

Some of the stuff these guys do and say is just unbelievable. I had to rewind during the Photo shoot to listen again...Kody is talking about how they are doing this "huge step for our family in building My Sister Wives Closet to help us with basically financing our homes and taking care of our financial future of our family"...You've gotta be kidding me!!!...Do they really think that they can build this little online jewelry business into an income to sustain that many people? I appreciate that they are at least making a small effort but when are they going to be practical...Janelle..go find your WISP OF COMMON SENSE and talk to your family!!...

And why does Meri say she'll be an empty nester?..I thought all of those other kids are like her own?.....AGAIN, why do they say in one moment that they are like one family, all helping each other, my kids are your kids type of happy crappy and the next minute it's "empty nester" and Christine feeling like a "single mom"....and people are more worried about getting their fair share or what they deserve than helping the other wives out...

    1. This is a family in absolutely no visible way! Kody is a womanizer who has succeeded in having 3 mistresses and a wife who are all aware of each other and show a pretense of acceptance! They obviously dislike each other! I wish the show had started when they were all a supposedly happy family living in Utah in one house with 4 master suites. I'm sure the same pettiness went on there, but they were able to conceal it from the children to a greater degree. If they truly loved each other as the opening scene of their show opines, they would be working toward recreating the family home they were forced to abandon. I bought their book and feel ashamed that I have contributed to the lifestyle sham they present each week of their show. Shame on the Browns! Get 3 fake divorces and give your children a chance to adjust before they all become confused adults!

  56. Love reading all these comments. I am so annoyed and over the baby thing with Meri. She obviously doesn't want one, and seems to enjoy her freedom and life with Kody. There is nothing wrong with her not wanting a baby again, but then just make the decision and be done with it! Kody, you have plenty of children that you don't see every day, don't add another one just for the fun of it. I can't even imagine Meri having an infant and not having the freedom to go on her trips to Mexico and have spotless furniture. And also, she does not need that big of a house! I would be FURIOUS if I was her sister wife, splitting the little money we had to be sure all my children had their needs met while Meri gets the same amount to do as she pleases. Thats my rant! Also, I love Maddie. I hope that girl graduates high school and leaves to have her own life...she seems so much more together than the adults in her family.

  57. Nobody deserves a house. A big ole empty house will just serve as a reminder of what Meri does NOT have. Empty room after empty room. She needs to get over the. Baby thing. Her daughter will be adult very soon. She's done. All she has left to do is watch her husband get the other three (and I believe there will be more wives to come) women pregnant. Kody broke Christines heart when he married Robin. She wanted to be the last wife. I can see it. But Kody can't. That just goes to show how checked out Kody is. Robins pity party was pathetic! Oh, you had kids and you actually had to take care of them? All by yourself? You even had to pay bills? Food? Electrica bills? Gee, Sobbin Robyn we call that life where I'm from!

As much as I enjoy the show(except last night. That was a snoozefest) I do hope that TLC ends this mess. These people need jobs. And someone needs to teach them the basics of financial responsibility. They're setting a poor example for their brood.

  58. I've heard some polygamous groups believe sex is strictly for procreation and the husband stops visiting the wives who no longer can or want to become pregnant. Don't know if this group holds those beliefs but it would explain alot - Kody ignoring Janelle and Christine, Meri not wanting to admit she no longer wants to become pregnant and his fascination with Robyn.

I think Meri very much wanted more kids- in her 20's and 30's. But not any more. She's at a point in her life where your child rearing should be winding down not starting out. She knows it won't just happen and she knows it will be a long difficult road with no guarantees. She probably also realizes it is possible that conceiving not carrying the baby is the real problem.

It's a shame she lives in a culture where the only thing that matters is having children. In most other communities she would have been able to gain self esteem in other ways- work, education, volunteeering etc. But in this community she will always be looked down upon. And that's a real shame and probably explains alot of her less attractive behavior.

  59. I just had to post this. Last night I went to see what other sites were saying about Sister Wives and then I went to Twitter. One superfan stated that Sisters Wife Closet was not working due to a lot of people trying to order. Gag me. Then Robin tweeted something about the site being down and that it would be working soon. Then someone else tweeted that they would not buy jewelry from people who have no style or taste. This group has no sense of fashion or know what's in style. I have to agree with them. They are not making any money on this junk. IMO Meri does not need a large home for just herself. Her husband is only home maybe 2 days of the week and her daughter will be in college. Just plain stupid. I would love to see a tell all from the kids, without Mariah. She is a Kody Klone.

  61. So does anyone else think that Robyn's $4,000 in credit card debt is recent debt? They made it seem like she's had that particular $4,000 since her divorce but if she had, wouldn't it have accrued crazy-high credit card interest while it's been sitting there? So either it was a whole heckuvalot less than $4,000 when she first got divorced or it's a recent debt and they are using that debt to talk about so they don't have to mention her bankruptcies and VS debt. That is, if the whole entire thing wasn't made up in the first place.

  63. Hell no it's not fair that Meri gets a bigger house or even the same size as Janelle or Christine for that matter. She's EXTREMELY SELFISH!!! She's basically taking away from all the bonus kids needs, whether she realizes it or not & so is Mariah's MULTIPLE trips to Disneyland...smh
In the beginning Meri's argument was that by having a big house they can hold more family functions/dinners there. Well we have been told that Meri is more strict w/ the kids being over there since she likes to keep her things nice, so it wouldn't surprise me if the kids really like going over there too much since they won't be too comfortable.
U would think they would've had their Christmas/Hannakuh dinner there last year too instead of at Christine's. Also, from the Moralas interview, we found out that Meri spent New Years all by herself. If you wanted to entertain so much, then she could've easily planned a NYE get together for her sister wives & bonus children. Something tells me she'd prefer hosting more adult get togethers for her in laws or LIV events instead of having to deal w/ the stress of all her bonus kids....IMO

  64. Here is my humble opinion on the "Brown Family" If the state of Utah is not going to file charges against Kody Brown..GO HOME to Utah! You have a perfectly good home there.THe same home they all claim they were the most happy in. Why would any sane person want to go in to debt any more than they already are! Living in "Sin City" and being in the spot light, not to mention raking in what ever TLC pays each of them... save the cash and make a future for your kids. Oh sorry I forgot, Kody is SELFISH! Watching Kody interact with the kids makes me ill. The little ones are just grateful when they see him but the teenagers "have his number". He is a FAKE.

I feel sorry for Christine. Kody is so done with her. He seemed quite short with her a couple of times and didn't even want to look with her. Christine might be willing to have another child, but I don't think Kody is willing to even pretend to be interested in her any longer.

Or she can dust one day.......fluff up the carpet with the vaccuum each day.....spy on the neighbors.....her sister wives. They could do a show on her shopping for 7 new bedroom sets, yeah that's it. Maybe she just loves housework and that will keep her busy. How many bathrooms does she need. 3? or 4? - one for her, one in the master suite, one for Kro-duch when he stays over to house his hair products, one for the blubbering Merriah, and a couple strictly for use of those "other" wives and their broods when they have to come over.

Meri could use all her spare bedrooms to put up industrial shelving to house all their goodies - she could be the matriarch of the goods - and dole out the goodies like the wicked witch of the west. She is a natural for the role.

Does she really think that these other adults should support her and her now 4 kids just because she showed up and decided to join their group?

  75. I find it it ironic that Robyn is whining about how hard it was in the past as a single mom and Christine is saying she is tired of feeling like a single mom now and this is not what she signed up for. So maybe Christine needs a sister nanny too because we know baby daddy will not be there to help. As far as Meri goes she is just selfish. I would love to see Janelle and Christine leave.

  76. Lets put this in realistic perspective, We know they do not get the houses since Christine let the cat out of the bag last month. Logan is living away at school. Mariah and Aspyn graduate in 6 months. Then Maddie next year and I would think that Hunter and Mykelti in 2 years. So in 2 years they will have 6 kids out of the nest. We know that Meri, Christine and Janelle are through having kids, so unless Robyn or a new wife keep having babies, there is no need for that much space. I personally am looking forward to seeing how the Dargars live in polygomy. Set aside the whole married to sisters thing, They all live in the same house, Joe owns a company and I think I read that all the wives work. I think that one of them owns a cleaning company. I saw them on the 20/20 special and there kids really seem to all be siblings, and some of them are very talented musically. I also think there is something to this whole thing with Robyns sister living with them, other than babysitting that is. I really feel for Christine and Janelle, they both just look so defeated. I think a real job 9-5 for Janelle would boost her self esteem so much, and if she was working then Christine could resume the role she seems to thrive in, the caretaker of her's and Janelle's kids. I hope they find there place in the world that gives them happiness because its not gonna come from Kody. Meri is just so bitter and entitled and it comes across so strong on camera. She becomes more unlikeable each season.

    1. Exactly! I guess that's just more proof that the whole scene with them writing earnest money checks was totally fake and that her $4,000 in debt is recent debt - not leftover from her divorce like the show makes it seem

  82. My boyfriend has a credit score in the high 600s, makes 65k a year and was just denied an auto loan. I guess we should have applied for a home loan instead.

  83. OKAY! The water bill part? I love Christine... I think she seems sweet so I was sitting here thinking "aw, silly Christine! that's no biggy!" But then everyone started jumping on her!
"This isn't about just one of us!"
"No Christine, this isn't about YOU"
(Yeah, Christine, it's about Robyn. Don't you watch the show??)

And then the ugly Robyn Crying parts! Ugh, all for nothing too, I don't mind if the show is only a half hour, PLEASE lets have less Robyn tears. How does one bawl about the injustices you're not going to let get to you seconds before your "big girl britches" speech is rendered unnecessary because you probably found out days before that you GOT approval and now you have to talk about that, PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE. Brava Robyn. Amazing fake ugly crying.

I do get Meri not wanting someone else to carry her baby. I couldn't watch someone else carry my baby, experience my pregnancy. I also can't believe the teen creature though. What teen cries over their parents unsuccessfully doing it for years?? Ew. And then what kind of BRAT are they raising?? "I want a sister! WAAAHHH!"

And that was my Sister Wives Rant, thanks for the outlet! lol

  84. I miss the old episodes where they were just being a normal family TOGETHER. If the investigation is over then why can't they just go back to Utah where the family thrived? I would love to see that again.

  85. Going a bit off topic for a moment just to say I find it interesting that even tho Breaking Amish is totally finished now that TLC would did another extended marathon today.
Oh did ya'll see the previews for the new TLC show Sin City Rules? & there was another show featured too...

  86. okay so Meri thinks she should have as many rooms as kids that she "wanted" to have?!?!? WTF kind of ridiculous, childish thinking is THAT?!?!?!? ROFL!!!
    Good lord... *shakes head*
And WHAT exactly is Meri going to *DO* with 7 bedrooms?!?!?!?!??!!!!!
All i heard was her saying something about wanting a WET BAR?
More proof that living with Kody Douche is enough to drive anyone to DRINK!

oh and pleeeeeeease... if i have to hear SAINT Robyn remind us all one more time that she offered to be Meri's surrogate I'll pull my hair out!
Doesn't she know that everytime she says it... it's like holding up a neon sign announcing that Janelle and Christine NEVER made that offer to Meri.
Ugh... little Miss Perfect Robyn makes me sick... she's so full of it she's TURNING brown!

Thanks for this great place and providing somewhere for me to SCREAM about the Browns! LOL!

  87. What is Robyn's job? She's always talking about going to "work".

    1. She says its the Sister Wives Closet stuff. Which means she's looking through designs of stuff they can stamp their logo on and call it their own. Because she's an "artist". *eye roll*

  88. I don't think it harms chidren to share a room, I did for the first 15 years of my life with a younger sister. What's more harmful is this toxic relationship their mother has with their father. meri, she's an old hag who despite prattling on about sisterwives is really always reminding everyone in little ways that she is the only real wife, and what an amazing man to be married to. (Please excuse me whilst i go vomit)

  89. I personally think to "cut the fat" and just buy a lot of land and build one big house like they had in Utah and call it even. No fighting over who gets the bigger house..blah blah.. I think for Meri to have this huge house with all this space seems a bit much. It seems that the other ladies have more kids and will need the extra space. I say get a more scaled down home and then load it up with your "expensive tastes" items..then you wont have anything to cry about..

  90. The reason they were all so upset on the couch after they got pre-approval is that it was fake. I'm sure the approvals were fake for the show so their tears and anger might have been real. Not justified, just real.

  91. So Tara, Robin's sister has been living with them since King Sol was born? For shame, TLC...now that's "good TV" as they used to say. I for one would like to see real life interactions instead of fake drama over fake loan approvals.

I am wondering if Kody kept TLC from filming the truth about their crappy life and TLC had nothing to work with...so now we're facing the end of SW.

    Bring on the Dargers!

  92. This show is not longer a show about life as a polygamist family. It is a show about a bunch of people with new found money, fame, and GREED. I couldn't even get through the season 4 marathon or the new episode. It was that bad. Season 1 was the only season that was halfway real. There is nothing real about numerous adults who don't work and are fighting over a half-million dollar mansions. RIDICULOUS.

  94. I'm sure this thread is about to close as we get to the 200 limit...but how ridiculous is it that Meri actually thought she would have a career working with at-risk youths? Heck, she has Mariah demanding that she produce full blood siblings for her and that she prays EVERY SINGLE NIGHT for this...I think Meri has her own at-risk (of being a loony bird) youth.

  95. I think that to truly split their money equally, they need to stop looking at dollar amounts and need to look at proportions. If Thing 1 has one child and Thing 2 has four children, and the income is $3500, wouldn't the equal distribution of the income be
3500/7=500 per person in each household, meaning Thing 1 would get $1000 toward her household and Thing 2 would get $2500 toward her own household? If those numbers didn't suit Thing 1, it would provide incentive for her to get a job and bring in more income to raise her fair share. This way, the children are considered as individuals with individual needs and those needs are met financially.

I know that my husband and I both work and we divvy up our bills based off 100% of our income versus 100% of our obligations, then we assign a proportion of the bills we are each responsible for based off what percentage we earn. It would be nice if we could split it 50/50 but in our home, however he pays 60% and I pay 40% because of our different income levels. We also keep our bank accounts separate, which I love. It would drive me insane to have anyone taking my money and then handing me back whatever amount he sees fit for my needs and wants. I don't know how they can allow him to declare what is fair and equal.
