In 2011, the Sister Wives Blog started out as a place to talk about the TLC reality show "Sister Wives", Kody Brown and his wives Christine, Robyn, Meri and Janelle. Today we not only discuss the show, we discuss Polygamy in our society, and the public perceptions of the Mormon Religion. We discuss "Polygamy USA" and will be covering "My 5 Wives."
This blog is geared towards the adult reader, so please, no one under the age of 18 years. Thank you!

Discussion Page 2 for S05Ep2 "Kody Begs For An Answer"
Is this the latest picture of Robyn? From the UNLV discussion event in October.
Guess there was no live chat w/ the Browns during the show this evening. But Robyn did tweet this about 5 hrs ago: "if you are trying to get on MSWC & it won't work, try in a little while. So many people on site can crash it" Hahahahahahahahaha.....Please Robyn, I betcha when people shop on line at Wal-Mart, Target, etc....they don't have this problem. Esp, on day's like Black Friday or Cyber Monday!!!! I know ur lil' stink website isn't attracting that much volume!!
Totally different atmosphere on the their FB friend only fanpage. Did you see the Browns are going to be at a Las Vegas craft fair in december? I wonder why they appear to have abandoned those FB fans? Except of course when they need fans to buy their junk.
If they are at a 'craft fair' in vegas, they will sell that CRAP... if only for their devout fans to see and talk to them! Supposedly their sw jewerly is SS, but, even if it is sterling silver, it is SO OVERPRICED! Christine and her GIGANTIC 'SW' NECKLACE (though I do not know how big the SW is really, but it looks so, well GAUDY!! ) looks like it should be on SUPERMAN! and I cannot see anyone buying it that is professional! (STRONG WOMAN concept).
I do have to make a really big comment-I do not know if it is the picture, or the actualy piece, but their 'claudagh hand ' (sorry for sp) , the hand looks more like a halloween skeleton hand then an irish claudagh. YUCK!!!!
The site was down most of the weekend so it wasn't just down during the show. I get so tired of their lies and misrepresentations. It wasn't down because so many people were on it.
SO their jewelry - which is actually made by a third party jeweler - is considered a "craft"? Just looked the definition up and found this: 1.making things by hand: a profession or activity involving the skillful making of decorative or practical objects by hand, e.g. weaving, pottery, or woodcarving 2.object produced by skillful handwork: something produced skillfully by hand, especially in a traditional manner, e.g. a piece of pottery or carving 3.skill: skill in making or doing things, especially by hand
NONE of the above applies to the craptastic jewelry being hawked by the Browns. Etsy is an online craft show/marketplace and the Brown's stuff would NOT qualify to be on that site. The show promoters must be desperate. I bet the Brown booth will have jewelry and of course their MLM green crap, along with autographed books. gag me.
hmmmmmmmm, probably they scripted this in too...... I can just see TLC:"Meri, if we were to give you your mansion, what will you require in it"
Meri: " nothing much, must have enough rooms for when the kids wants to visit"
TLC: " you already have that in your rented house, if budget was not an issue, what will you require in the house. Think as an entertainer, as you are the one who hold a lot of family affairs"
Meri: "well, I will require a larger entertainment area.."
TLC: "how about having a bar in it"
Meri: "yeah, that's not a bad idea....."
this whole thing shout SCRIPTED! just like those outrageous kids parties! TLS knew it would have people talking and watching! not to forget majority viewers are women, most of which are mothers - hence the anti-Meri vibe!
I just wanted to say in response to many of the other post in the first discussion for this episode.
As far as Christine helping raise Janelle's children, I believe she did. She also homeschooled them for a while along with caring for them before and after. This seemed to be a mutually benefical arrangement for the two wives. Janelle wanted to work, Christine preferred to stay home. It's almost like Janelle & Christine were the mother and father to these children on the day to day basis. Both took care of those kids needs in different ways everyday. I think the two of them deserve far more credit for raising Logan than Kody does.
I agree. I have also noticed far less tension between Christine and Janelle than any one else on the show. On the couch interview they are also siting next to each other also usually. They also don't look like they are going to harm each other also.
I keep going back to what I have been reading in the book. Janelle goes on and on in her section about how awesome a father Kody was. How hands on he was. But before they moved to Lehi both Meri & Janelle said Kody was always working or away on business. Then at one point Janelle lived 30 miles from the family. So really "hands on" I guess if I only had to see my kids every few days I would be real hands on too.
Janelle gives credit in the book to both Christine and Meri for staying home with the kids and home schooling them. She said Christine became the corner stone in the family taking care of everybody in so many ways even if not financially. So even Janelle gave Christine props in helping her raise 6 wonderful well rounded children. I don't see why everyone is so mad at Kody for saying Christine played a huge role in raising Logan.
If he was really involved in the Lehi house like they wanted us to believe in Season 1 and in the book then this move killed the family. Kody has let his "stardom" go to his head and has basically abandoned the kids to persue Robyn and fame. That's really sad in my opinion. I feel bad for those kids. Too many changes at once.
I wonder if the food-clothes budget is divided equally by 4 wives? Here Christine & janelle have 6 kids to feed/dress on the same budget as merri. No wonder she can entertain so much. Ya she needs the wet bar? And if cryin Robyn's budget is altered due to the child support she gets? It makes no sense Mary's budget is the same as a family of 7. These people make kate gosselin look like good. I never thought any reality mother good look better that krazy kate g
Meri is on my nerves, but in the past, even Janelle said that Meri's place was always the center of the family's gatherings because Meri enjoys that so much. I think she is 40 now and doesn't want another child, but she feels pressured and afraid to lose dill weed's affections entirely to Robyn, whom he favors and can give him his grubby little kids, as if what 16 isn't enough? YUCK. I'm an anthropologist and teach about polygynous marriages (that's the correct term). Meri's using the infertility as a bargaining chip with Kody is actually probably in part on a sub-conscious level and intentional on another because she feels powerless. Her worthiness and desirability, to her, is based on her ability to give him children. Women in this arrangement do this all the time to negotiate their position within the family. In this case, you have a bit of clash between public life (Janelle working to support the family) and private (Christine especially, domestic labor). These issues between the wives is the direct result of putting women in ultimately a subservient relationship to one man and conflicted relationships with each other. Read ethnographies about cultures who practice polygyny all around the world, and you see the same patterns again and again. This is why it is oppressive, sexist, and it makes me sick. Kody thinks he is a big man, the creep. He acts like a shot shot. Place some responsibility onto HIM because ultimately he holds the power, yet he waltzes around while the women scramble to care for the family AND manage the finances. They don't know what the hell to do anymore especially since they left Lehi. While Meri's behavior is surely melodramatic and manipulative, she is just reacting in her own way to something that is clearly hurting her and making her feel insecure. Blame polygamy and the "lifestyle" and the "faith." Stop using Meri as a scapegoat. She's just not handling things as maturely and gracefully. She's regressed and become an overly needy child, "I want, I want!" It's not pleasant behavior and kind of nauseating, but I for one can certainly see how it's come to this. In fact, every one of them is reacting to the situation they are in differently, taking on roles that follow the same pattern as every other I've seen. I've seen grown women act like overgrown babies, and while they may not be overtly abused, living polygyny IS inherently abusive to women. They've been taught that this is the righteous path, so they will not see it for what it is. But I think Meri is outrageously excessive given their desperate financial situation, and it's not right for anyone in that family to have big luxurious homes. It's ridiculous. I'm actually blown away that the bank gave them their financing! Nuts!
I still don't get why everyone is up in arms about Meri and the wet bar! she has one child and she could probably afford it on her share of the TLC check! why should she deny herself for these women's kids??
and do not forget that all the three women can still go for more kids if they so desire - so she has to get what she wants too.... not to say she is the oldest female of the bunch!
women her age are more into entertainment! they host tea parties, card parties .etc....etc.... she is at the age where a woman prides herself in her home! when her kids have left the house and it is just her... that is when you fill your house with friends.
The other three wives are at a place where practicality is the name of the game. when having money means you can finally pay off the kids' school fees, buy the uniform, pay for extra classes, redecorate the nursery, have enough to take the kids out - when your whole focus is taken up by your kids. The times when you don't even know the price of a massage(don't have time for it anyway), rushing around picking the kids, dropping them off, going to school's parents meetings................
so you see the the 1st wife and the other 3 wives will not see eye to eye, give it at least 17 years when all their kids are out of the house - then they will be demanding much more than a wetbar!
Interesting, Anon. 3:47. Except for Janelle, they've been taught this is what they must do from childhood. I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around how any woman for any reason would believe this arrangement to be a good idea. The ick factor alone...
While I see your points about Meri, it's my understanding that she has been exactly what she is now from the start. According to Janelle, she was cruel even before children came along. she claims to never have had a close relationship with the others until Robyn came along. Duh, you reap what you sow, Mare.
Meri totally uses her situation to manipulate the others and Kody enables her. If I understand correctly, sex is only for procreation in their religion. If Meri gives up the baby dream, she won't be able to have sex with Kody anymore. No sex = no attention. You see the way he treats Janelle and Christine, who are done having babies. He just wants a harem.
You're assuming the bank actually did give them financing and that it wasn't all a lie for the show!
Please post more and use a screen name, I'd really like to hear your opinion more often. There's a couple of ex-AUB members who sometimes post that I like to hear from but your perspective as an anthropologist could really be interesting. Especially as we start watching the other family, The Dargers.
I am sure that if Robyn was not in the picture, that Meri would not even think twice about having any more children. Being that Robyn is still able to have more children, Kody puts her above all and Meri doesn't like that spot. I think Meri thought that Kody would think differently of her for bringing in another "fertile wife"...but I think it is backfiring on her.
In response to some of the posts above. My two cents. Meri should give a bit - no, I'll say it, she doesn't deserve an equal share of the money. That's all about sharing - isn't that what it's all about with their religion? I am sorry she did not get to bear the children she wanted, truly I am. However, like they say, the others are hers, too, her family, and it to me is ridiculous that group 1 - a total of 2, should get as much money as a group with 7. NO WAY! Hey, I wanted wanted 4 kids and only had 2, should I still have, demand a 6 bdrm house with a craft room, while others of my family share bdrms? NO NO NO. Sadly, if it were reversed, Janelle would choose a smaller home. Christine would, reluctantly. Robyn is smart to keep her mouth shut. Way to play it, newbie. Janelle supported Meri, when she could have gotten a degree long ago. Way to go Meri, read your bible about giving, sharing, mercy, greediness. This is a show about RELIGIOUS people? Not my kind. JUST my opinion, enjoy reading the opposing views. LOVE THIS BLOG!
In response to Cheryl- lost up there in this thread- I have been waiting for someone to bring this up.
Are they 'allowed' to have sex if not for the purpose of pro-creation. Didn't Christine almost die last time she gave birth? I wonder if she hasn't locked up the candy shop and that is why he is so vicious to her?
And Janelle- well maybe she hasn't felt QUITE the same towards him since he announced internationally on TV and in the book that he wasn't attracted to her, but thought she would be a good provider...
I agree that every night is Robin's night and I think Robyn is either pregnant now or trying to get pregnant regardless of her offer.
I also agree that the only power these women have is when they are pregnant or getting pregnant. AND the only value they have in the marriage is how many children they've had.
I'm almost 10 years older than Meri, no kids, and I have ZERO desire for a bigger place to entertain. My little 1 bedroom pad and backyard are perfectly fine for parties - had one just 2 weeks ago for my 50th birthday and we all had a great time!!
My parents could have stayed in their big 5 bedroom home after we all grew up and left - it was fully paid for after all - but they chose to downsize to a 2 bedroom bungalow. and trust me my mom - who is the president of the womans' club in their town as well as active in TWO church congregations - has no problems hosting parties with large turnouts - what I'm saying is Meri can have "pride in her home" without having 5 bedrooms and a ginormous mortgage and all that space to clean and take care of. But of course this is immaterial anyway, since we ALREADY know that they won't be moving into those houses.
She is going to have a hard time catching up since the first three wives keep gaining weight. I wish they would get out of that situation. It would be so much healthier for them.
Kodturds comment about I'm having more kids anyways no matter what you decide was probably about the most heartless, jackass, mean spirited commented that I have heard on the show EVER. If Meri had a brain she would realize that Mariah is almost an adult legally so her binds to Kody regarding child support, visitation, insurance, etc are almost done, to bring another child into the picture binds her to him for an additional 18 plus years. If her heart is so big and she wants to help a child why not look into foster care for infant/toddlers or respite care for special needs kiddos families and put that big house to use for something good? (plus you get paid for that so it would generate some INCOME) That way Mariah can help her out with all of that self righteousness. I know it will never happen since that is not the true motivation but just thought I'd throw it out there since we know that they read this blog....just sayin....wouldn't it make an interesting story line?
I hated that "I'm going to have more kids" line as well. I really felt bad for Meri. It is hard to understand why he does this to any of the wives. They have enough children.
She stated last season that she's only interested in having a baby if it's her egg and Kody's sperm. Very clearly. Which of course kind of puts the lie on her "Logan is MY kid too" BS.
My mouth dropped when he said that. I had to rewind it. Can you imagine hearing those words from your husband?? It's like he was saying he's going to continue to be happy and move on with or without her contributions to his brood (cause we all know more kids equals more happiness in this household) as much as I cannot stand Meri and her fake a$$ and manipulations and crocodile years I still felt so bad for her here. I mean how worthless would you feel. Breeding children is EVERYTHING to this man and she can't give it to him. His statements were unnecessary, pompous and just plain disgusting. Poly or not I would have punched my husband in the face if he had said that to me at My mouth dropped when he said that. I had to rewind it. Can you imagine hearing those words from your husband?? It's like he was saying he's going to continue to be happywith or without her (cause we all know more kids equals more happiness in this household) a fragile time.
I agree with all who are posting about what Kody said about having more kids to Meri ('I'm having more kids')...it was extremely cruel and just rubbed salt in Meri's wound of not being able to have more kids....and I'm absolutely NOT a fan of Meri's, Kody's or any of the sister wives ( I do like the kids, tho!! ) Just want to clarify for those that keep saying 'they have enough kids'...in Kody's mind, they don't....and most of us don't agree with that way of thinking, but he is sticking to his religious beliefs that say he must keep procreating to fill up his 'planet'....and yes, I realize that it's weird and creepy, but that is what he and the wives believe...that's why this is a tough decision for Meri....but I do think she will not go ahead with trying to have another baby.....
It made it even MORE disgusting that he kept saying Sorry Mer. SORRY WHAT? Sorry that I'm sure a worthless piece of crap that I just told you and the general public that the only thing that matters to me is who is currently breeding my child? That I just announced to the general public and to you that I'm going to keep screwing multiple women and you just need to deal with it? Sorry that the world just evolves around me? SORRY MY HIND END! This just made me sick and thoroughly dislike this man beyond anything I have ever experienced. There are jerks and lowers in this worlds and then there are KODTURDS. Completely disgusting.
With a father saying things like that ON camera imagine what he says off. No wonder Mariah was bawling her eyes out, poor kid is probably under imense pressure to "keep sweet." And another thing didnt Janelle say something to the effect that every child thinks their mom is the favorite because of how special he makes them feel when hes with each family, yeah right Kodester I just cant see that. Everytime he gets a spare moment with "mare" hes hounding her about her womb.
Few questions. I wonder if the food/clothes budget is divided 4 equally like the housing one? If so I get why Merri needs a wet bar she's got so much $$ to entertain . Though they don't drink. Ya. Whatever! As well I'm sure Robyn gets child support so is that divided for all? Maybe that's her Victoria secret fund, wink wink. Where was Robyn's nanny (aka 4th wife) tonight to look after Soloman ? The new spin of invetro tonight caught me off guard as I thought the script was for selfless Robyn to carry the baby. I need to get on a reality show in 2 years these guys are movin on up faster than the Jefferson's. 4 new homes 4 new cars/vans 2 new babies 3 more kids + nanny to feed (Robyn's litter) and NOBODY has a full time job. Amazing
I think we'll find that Robyn's sister (supposed nanny) probably has at least a part-time job (she's a hairstylist by training) OR she is not in LV 24/7 - only there for filming purposes and when the family has to go on a promotional interview, then she gets to tag along for free. I would bet she is NOT living there full time, and the reason she is even THERE is to generate speculation that she is a potential wife for Kody. You'll notice they've not stated how old (or in her case, young - she turns 20 tomorrow) she actually is. Another gimmick by the Browns or the producers to insert a little artificial interest in the show and eke out one more season of this train wreck.
I tend to agree, yet, she is there much of the time, long before they showed her. I don't think Robyn would DARE bring in someone prettier and younger than her for Kodster.
According to their facebook pages, she isn't there now and hasn't been for a while. Robyn's mom posted something yesterday thanking her for watching one of her other kids (grandkids?) so she (Robyn's mom) and stepdad Paul could "head down to visit Dayton." Nothing was said about Robyn's girls or Super Sol, just Dayton.
SO archergirl78 that would mean Robyn's recent post (earlier this month) that she was thankful her sister was around to watch Sol so she could get her nails done - do you think that was just a plant to get the wheels going..?
Meri should be ASHAMED of herself! I hope she cries real buckets of tears after each of these farces of a show are aired. The pure GREED and the ENTITLEMENT she displays are open-mouthed *gasp* worthy.
I hope the Dargers make them feel like failures. Because they are all! failures! Ok, except maybe Janelle and Christine. Christine appears to be a good nurturing mother and Janelle is smart as a whip.
How on earth did their kids turn out (so far, anyway) with so much common sense??
Janelle isn't all that smart IMO - with each show she shows how NOT smart she is. Some of it is low self-esteem and "settling" for what she feels is the best she can do - I think she's book-smart, not life-smart.
Last night's ep - she must have been at graduations for her kids for Junior High previously - enough to know how it works, and they all work the same way - graduates called up a row at a time, in alphabetical order (usually the audience gets a program with all the names listed so they KNOW approximately when in the schedule their child will be called). The entire row stands up - there was enough time for Janelle to get her iPhone set up to either snap some shots or take a video - then they proceed to the podium one at a time. Each student is called, they stand and get their diploma and a handshake - done. 20 seconds maybe...what did they think that Logan was going to get more time than anyone else because his family is on Reality TV? jeez.
I agree with you, DakotaJustice. I don't understand the Janelle-worship. Janelle knew that the family has limited resources, yet she and Kody chose to bring six kids into the family. Ditto Christine's half-dozen. There's so much focus on Meri's alleged hogging of stretched family resources, but who made those resources so stretched in the first place?
I'm not sure if anyone else noticed that Janelle told Madison to "shut up" when she started to say something to her about missing seeing Logan get his diploma. Not nice. Also, I felt it was manipulative and mean of Robyn to show up late. So Kody was more focused on worrying about her showing up than watching Logan. She could have had her sister watch Sol while she went with everyone else to the graduation.
Hey, I've done that. I have a teen that is going to provoke me when she knows I am upset. Left alone, it will continue and rile others up to jibe. Not nice, no. Can I relate, yes. It shuts them up.
Janelle probably snapped at Madison because she was holding in all the frustration caused by her sister wives and Kodster... with Madison, her child, she could let out the anger.
I thought that it was said, that when it's one of the wives bday/anniversaries, kids bday or special events then Kody will "rearrange" his rotation accordingly. Guess that's true, unless it's his night w/ Robyn....Ughhhhh During the scene at Janelle's house when she was telling Maddie to choose another skirt b/c her dad wouldn't like it, & Logans facial expressions to his mom saying that his dad wouldn't like it was pricesless...Lol It was like a 'well it's not like he's hardly ever around anyways so why should it matter' look... Yay for Logan coming to his lil' sis defense :D
Noticed that too! Why should they care what he says? Ghost Dad? Janelle's kids stand up for her, and she doesn't mind bend them--I love that! She's a hot mess, but her kids are the most grounded.
I really like the way Maddie is being shown. Clearly she doesn't subscribe to the family's idea of modesty what with her bit of cleavage, form-fitting clothing over a trim figure, and shorter skirts. It looks like the dress she wore to the graduation was strapless with an elastic top with a sweater over top... wiich isn't exactly modest, is it? :)
Tonight's episode was a joke. First of all the timeline is all weird. When they interviewed Miriah she talked about being inducted into NHS LAST year. That was featured in the last episode. Sometimes I swear they just throw a bunch of shit together and put it on the air.. The commercials all week featured the launch of MSWC website and store. That wasn't even shown tonight. Everything was flashbacks of previous couch interviews and things that we've already heard a million times. They're running our of ideas and its very obvious.
I really can't believe what an a$$ kody is. I mean I'm not the biggest merri fan but when he said "I'm defeinely having more children, you need to decide if you are too" my mouth literally dropped. Way to rub it in Kody! I honestly felt for her in that moment. He is a complete moron.
I love the flashbacks though of Meri talking about jhanelle being mad and jhanelle explaining why. I love jhanelle's facial expressions. You know that she is saying so many cuss words in her head!
Kody running around looking for Robyn was ridiculous. The fact that the mother of his child had to text him and say "get back in here you're going to miss him walk" was crazy!
Ok. I live in Las Vegas and EVERYONE knows where the Thomas and Mac center is. It's the hugest building on campus (which it isn't a large campus) and its the cornerstone of the university. I can't believe she couldn't find it. It's So big and on the corner of two major intersections. She's an idiot. Why was she so sad too? And crying? And sent THREE tweets tonight about how important Logan's graduation was to her and one about how handsome he looked...
Did y'all catch the trailer for next weeks episode? I'm excited to see the Darger's on there. In the preview Robyn said something along the lines of "when you put wives in a house together there can be destruction" hmmmmmmmm..... And kody said making the wives share a kitchen is abuse.. There are so damn dumb!
I have been to Las Vegas several times and even I could find the building since like you said it is the biggest on the campus. It stands out. I think it was all written in as part of the episode. I wouldn't be surprised if Robin was sitting somewhere else in the stadium with the upcoming 5th wife, and only came down to the family after the director yelled action.
I'm reading comments from other threads about Robyn possibly being pregnant. I was at the unlv panel and she was looking super stick thin. I don't think she's pregnant and if she is she couldn't have been more than 2-3 months back in Oct. she looked really tiny to me.
Koody best line of the show " I'm having more kids!" To his infertile wifey #1 -Anon 10:59pm
This made me want to reach through the TV and smack him in the face with my ovaries! I am not a fan of Meri, but NO woman deserves this chauvinist. On a more serious note: In a non snarky way I really do think Kody has a passive aggressive manipulation personality. If you think about it, it fits in perfect with the lifestyle.
Also him worrying more about his tardy wife instead of Logan at his graduation just shows this man has his head screwed on loose.
Janelle crying at the graduation made me almost cry. You can tell she loves her children so much and is just craving stability in her unfortunate life.
I agree with others about them liking the novelty of showing off their lifestyle to people more than they actually like living it. They were so pompous at the teacher parent meetings. It's almost like they get off on rubbing their weirdness off on other people.
Lastly, Meri...... Meri, Meri, Meri..... You perplex me. Why not just use one of your billion extra rooms as a hobby room and build a wet bar post construction? Really not that hard; sink, counter, cabinet and add some stools. Done. I have seen the floor plan sweetie and 3,800 sq ft (before the addition of a hobby room and 5th bedroom) is WAY TOO MUCH. I have trouble keeping my 1800 sq ft home clean and it's just me and my husband! I hope your famous organizational skills will help you figure out a plan of action of how to keep up with a house that big.
Regarding the preview for next week: One of the Darger wifes mentioned not liking how the Browns have to wait until it's their night just to show affection to their husband. If I understood the preview correctly it sounds like even the Dargers think the Brown's are way too intense and screwy. I got the vibe that they don't agree with the McMansions either by the comment on why they are so against sharing a kitchen (Kodouche came back with something like it would be an abusive situation?!?!?!?). Of course previews are notorious for taking things out of context but if it even remotely resembles what we will see next week than I just cant wait for an hour of "Darger snark on Brown fest". I am interested to see more of how the Dargers interact with each other too.
I'm interested in seeing the Browns interact w/ the Dargers too. Esp to see the Dargers point of view on the Browns during their couch session. I know they will show a lot of courtesy & choose their words carefully, b/cuz even tho they may disagree w/ the Browns on a lot of things, I just don't see them coming on the show to "put them down', so to speak. I just think they will 'play nice' for the cameras. Like others have mentioned, I would love to be a fly on the Dargers wall after the cameras were gone & they were away from the Browns discussing the train wreck they just witnessed in person...Lol
I still think Joe Darger is hella creepy, but I am really looking forward to next week's episode, although I suspect we already saw the best bits in the 30 second or so promo teaser they aired last night.
Like a lot of people here, I respect the Dargers much more than I do the Browns (even though Joe kind of creeps me out). But I totally agree with whichever Darger wife it was who said that you shouldn't have to wait for your night to show affection. You are "married" to all four of your wives Kody, you are married to them every day, not 1 out of 4 days. I know that part of it is modesty, but if the Dargers can stomach seeing each other kiss than so could the Browns. If you jealousy issues are so bad that you physically can't watch your husband kiss or hold hands or cuddle your sister wife, than polygamy is not for you. I personally don't mind seeing my husband kiss or hug or sit with my sister wife. I like seeing it because it reassures me that he cares about her the way he care about me and that he is commited to our family. It's a good thing, not a gross thing. And really, Meri, Christine, Robyn and Janelle, sharing a kitchen is abusive?? How you can act like one family if you cant even stand to cook a family meal together? I find it all so unfortunate and sad.
I thought it was funny when Janelle was gushing all about & to the favorite teacher, Guido?? Saying ur a Rockstar in our house!! I loved that, esp that she said it in front of Kadouche.
I still wonder why anyone thinks Janelle is intelligent????
IMHO, she is the dimwit of them all! I'm saying so because:
1. As Meri's sister-in-law, she knew Meri & Kody very well! 2. After being exposed for years to the couple Meri & Kody, she went and joined herself into this celestial madness! 3. while she was happily preggers with Kody's 1st child, what does he do? goes and marries Christine! another member of the celestial madness! 4. Janelle, stays and immediately get preggers again along with Meri & Christine! 5. As soon as Janelle delivers number 2, she rushed in to get no.3 along with Christine's no.2 .......... and that was when the 2 of them goes into an all out baby-making competition! talk about madness! 6. Through all the years and all the kids, she still fails to see Kody is not in love with her .......... I can't not even recall one moment where Kody touches her as a lover does, he kisses her and touch her like he does his mother! 7. And she still stays! I bet you she used most of her pension on funding the family! while I can bet on Meri's wetbar that Meri's pension is hers and her daughters alone!
so face it folks, this woman is far from intelligent, even common-sense seems uncommon to her.......... but I don't blame her - look at what she has as a mother! can you imagine, your mom comes to meet your future in-laws and Hoop-hoop - she becomes your in-law!
It's obvious that Janelle is very smart. Being emotionally aware is another thing entirely. I'm not going to attempt to play shrink, but my guess is that she has never had a healthy dose of self-esteem. What led to her joining such a cult is the mystery I'd love to have answered.
Pension? Striking matches on marshmallows impossible that Meri has one. She only worked part-time in Utah. She's just a taker, from what I've seen.
It makes me hurl when he and Meri call each other "lover." So gross. IMO Janelle is a victim of religious bondage and probably thought if she was good enough and waited long enough, God would fix the problems.
Why would Meri have a pension? She's never worked steadily at one job for any measurable amount of time. According to one source, the most she's earned in a month was $600. Even the job she had in S1 was only part time.
Janelle has major self esteem issues IMO - been there. She probably thinks she's not going to do any better. I'm sure she feels trapped.
Yeah, when Janelle, Kody, and Maddie were on the couch and Janelle said, "if I had Maddie's backbone at that age, no telling where I would be", I saw a thought cloud above her head saying, "I sure wouldn't be in this &^*&% situation!"
1-5 can be all laid at the doorstep of their chosen religion - as to why she's FLDS I'll never fully understand it but many bright people find religion fulfils a need in them. 6 - I disagree. Do you recall the ep where her and Kody go hiking? They actually do have quite the affection for one another it's just that Janelle isn't the touchy feely type. That stays behind closed doors for them. She doesn't need to be dripping all over him (unlke Meri), as their romantic relationship is of a less showy variety. That doesn't mean that they don't have one.
I wouldn't hesitate to conclude that Janelle is very intelligent and should she ever decide to go it alone again, she'd do well. She's the most capable of all of them, Kody included.
Thank you, I totally agree. Not to mention that Robyn, Christine, and Meri grew up in that faith, she did not. I give them more of a free pass for things because that is all they have known. Note, I do not excuse them, they are adults and should still know better in many cases, however, they have had this faith as a model of how families work, their entire lives. Janelle did not. She was an adult coming into it. So I really don't feel all that sorry for her.
I think the TLC check gets divided 1st into 2 parts, Kody takes 1/2 and the wives shared 1/2. Sharing according to the number of kids will be gravely unfair! just because someone has 3 kids, 1 kid - does not mean they will payless for what they want.
In their case, to avoid division between the wives - they should all get the same amount. if all is fair in Brown family, Kody should then shoulder the bulk of the kids needs - just like any good father will.........
but this is all in a fair situation! as far as I have seen about polygamy, equality is a dream! there is always one wife who will be the most loved one at some time, always kids who are more loved, always the things that are more important(sports cars inc.)......
Robin is pretty much keeping her womb on hold until Meri makes a decision. She knows that if she tells Robin no, then Kody is going to take the next step and have another baby with Robin. I think Meri is jealous enough to string Robin a long so that they won't have another child yet. I think Meri is playing quite a game. As first wife, she believes she deserves everything over the other wives. She's a master manipulator!
Or... Robyn is preggers already-hence the insensitive kody comment regarding having kids anyway and suddenly dropping the talk about surrogacy, changing to IVF???? It's obvious that Meri does not want another kid, but she's afraid to say it to Kody because that will be the end of her hold on him. She'll be out to pasture just like she's managed to get Janelle and Christine marginalized.
I highly doubt Kody and Robyn are abstaining while waiting for Meri's answer. I doubt Robyn uses birth control. I believe Robyn could end up pregnant before Meri even makes a decision anyway, so there goes that plan.
WTF is it with Meri and her obsession with WET BARS!!?!?!?!
Is she a closet alcoholic or something? What woman get's that wound up about a BAR? I watch lots of renovation and building shows on TV and it's ALWAYS the guy who insists on a wet bar and it's usually for his MAN CAVE..
I really don't understand Meri at all... She has a perfectly good kitchen with sink and counter-top but she's throwing tantrums to get another counter top and sink 10 feet away from the first one? I'm starting to think she's insane... seriously... insane!
So, I'm confused. Was the graduation a repeat of Logan's high school graduation? If not, what kind of program was he in that he only had to attend a year of classes? Does UNLV have an adjunct 2 year school or something? Trade school? I don't get it.
In Vegas all high school graduations are held at Thomas & Mack. The high schools are overpopulated and the high school gyms can not hold all the families. My graduating class in '03 had over 1700 students.
Welllllllll, Meri dear, you know as well as all of the viewers that you are not going for the invitro because you are menopausal. Anyone with eyes can see the writing on the wall. Your ovaries are at the end of the line with housing eggs, so if you have invitro, one of your wives will need to drop an egg or two in the Robyn Womb For Rent Account.
And, Meri, what's up with needing all that room. Women, as far as I know, are not like men. We don't need an extension of our uteri to prove our womanhood. And, for you to get the same budget just sucks.
Christine, are you going to take that crap from Meri. Really. Did she just diss your parenting on national TV?
Janelle, quit being the martyr. You are trying so hard to show Meri for the selfish bitch that she is that you are cutting needed space from your own family. If she needs five bedrooms, well, go for it.
To Anony 3:47a: As an anthropologist your summary is right on target. I personally thought last nite's show very very boring and is quickly following the Gosselin path, out of gas. Maybe we should all boycott future epis as they appear to be on the IV baby route. Thanks for your input.
Did I hear Kody tell Meri she can have until they move into their new houses to decided if she was going to do IVF? Guess, she has til hell freezes over then!!! Think they all need to watch all these episodes 10xs each and maybe...just maybe they will see how selfish and immature they all are.
I've always liked Meri and still do. I think the show is also good at twisting things around right now to make her look more selfish than the other wives. I agree with her logic that just because she doesn't have a house full of kids doesn't mean she can't have a nice house. I'm sure anyone could agree that a wet bar and pantry could never replace the void she feels for not having more kids, but maybe it helps her feel better. The other wives all made the decision (repeatedly I might add) to have kid after kid after kid. I'm sick of the pity party people throw themselves when they have responsibilities and kids to take care of. Don't have kids if all you're going to do is complain about how much they cost and how much time they take away from you. These are human lives you chose to bring into the world and nurture - kids should not be used to level the playing field or be viewed as constant debits in your checking account. Talk about selfish.
Erm, you are arguing with yourself here. On one hand you say that Meri feels a void at not having had more kids, on the other you say that the other wives are irresponsible for having so many. The other wives have six kids. Meri wanted eight.
I don't see how you can't see that Meri would have been far, far more reproductively irresponsible given half a chance, but her body let her down.
You can't slam Janelle and Christine for having lots of kids and then turn around and soothe Meri's feelings over not having had lots of kids too. She can't be praised for something that wasn't in her control.
Oh and by the way, as the first wife, she was instrumental in bringing the other wives, and their multitude of children into the marriage. Those kids are supposed to be hers, remember? So why shouldn't she be sacrificing to support them?
Meri wants to have her cake and eat it too. She wants to claim ownership and a role in the lives of her sisterwives' children, but she doesn't want to make any fiscal sacrifice to do so. She's all about what she wants.
To be honest, anyone supporting Meri at this stage just isn't paying attention. She *insisted* on having sister wives. She wanted them all to breed as much as possible, and now that she can't have as many kids as they can, she's hurting the family by taking food out of the mouths of 'her' bonus children and putting it towards material objects.
Hi, um, Kody? A woman with one kid and a part-time baby daddy does not need four, maybe five, bedrooms. If she wants to entertain she should go bartend, or make her "husband" keep it in his pants so they can afford a half-mil McMansion, not to mention FOUR. Maybe the Kody/Meri share of the TLC money is better, but not when child support hits, honey.
I have no idea how they can afford even one wet bar. I hope Meri sees the greed I saw, especially considering this family's financial past, which no one seemed to know about, shocking! I'm guessing this conflict is staged so when Janelle/Christine has a stupid, useless wet bar in their layout in their home they will never afford Meri can be offended and cry.
Does anyone know the Mormon/FLDS view of adoption? Are adopted children part of the celestial family? Is there some sort of eternal binding ritual? I know Marie Osmond has a bunch of adopted kids, but Meri and Kody never even seem to consider adoption. Of course, it would seem Kody would not want to throw "bad seed" into his bloodline, but he has supposedly become dad to Robyn's first kids and I think one of them is autistic.
Speaking of Robyn's kids, I didn't see them - were they in any scenes last night? I was wondering if their real father objected to them being on the show. Or maybe they were just off visiting him?
If you are an actual Mormon, in the mainstream LDS Church, then yes, adoption is highly promoted. The LDS even have their own adoption agency, and yes, it is believed that adopted children are no different eternally than biological children. As for the fundamentalists, who knows. But what birth mom would choose to place her child in that kind of a family?
You have to pass a back ground and credit check, before you can even start the adoption process. The back ground check, I'm assuming they would pass. As for the credit check....... you all know the answer to that one. Also they do home studies before a child is even brought in. Polygamy is illegal. So to answer your question, no adoption is not an option for them.
Agree with you V. I have been through the adoption process, and it is no easy one. Parents with a child, as we were, are the least thought of, although it can happen, for they HAVE ONE where many others do not. There is no way they would even be considered without lying through a normal adoption agency, and have a feeling exposure would veer them away.
They could have done it with a genetic carrier like Guilliana and Bill if they so chose to. They have a knack of procuring money for what they want, not what they owe.
My feeling is that Meri wanted to have the feeling of carrying a baby again, the ATTENTION, the closeness with Kody. At 41, she's over it and a lame story line.
That being said, being in UTAH may be a whole different bird. I seriously doubt Meri would accept a welfare adoption, where that child isn't the cream of the crop. It's very believable that they could of adopted that route - but didn't. That would have been FREE, and even may have been more beneficial to a child who lingers in a foster home. I have been a foster mother. We didn't even take the money, but put it in a fund for the child to use later! I have met many a good one, but many foster parents who simply do it for the money and give the children no attention, in fact, many are very strict and cruel. For those who are younger and have not been a foster parent. Think about it. I did it 20 yrs ago, and still are in contact with some of my children. One even posts like i am her mom, and I later became friendly with the mother, and congratulated her on her success at recovering, she me in being loving to her dtr. and allowing her to see her when it was only our call. It's a very satisfying thing to do, and really can bring you closer to Christ, if you are inclined to religion.
I have been all along, during the seasons, watching with interest a family structure which I have absolutely no exposuret. Yet, in another way, the show is about my own life. I want to have an open, sympathetic mind towards all people, and, for that reason, there is not another show on television that is as interesting to me as this one. Raising children and being married ARE things I am very, very familiar with --mother of four kids, 31 years of marriage in a Christian (but certainly not Mormon in any way) marriage, , raised in a family of 7 children. I have believed the women when they said they felt this lifestyle helped them be better people. I have admired Kody and his love and wisdom. I have admired their children. I have respected the realistic way the family has allowed itself to be portrayed -- good, strong, not perfect, always human. I was impressed and happy to see the older kids blossoming at school, interacting well with staff and other students, coming into their own. I can very easily agree that there would be advantages to having more immediate family adults around when raising children. I am now, though, however, sort of being undone with Meri's attitude about a she house. I know I am not in her moccasins, but if she loves all the children as her own, how can she live in, furnish, heat and cool a 3800 sq. foot house and take 25% of the resources when she only represents a small fraction of the physical needs of the family, especially the family's children? Why is she not thinking about all the college tuitions that are coming up right around the bend,? How about the possible future costs of invetro that she would also be incurring? I love Meri, but how is her attitude evolved and mature? It seem very much to me that this issue exposes and brings to light the fact that Meri feels insecure about her place in the family if she is not given material objects to signify that she is. Why is she putting that emphasis on and significance to perishable items? Kody does, I guess, by driving around in a fancy car.... But I never begrudged him that at all -- a little area of his own with his own imprint on it, and a fun toy for himself while he is giving away a great deal of his time to serving other family members. .I only understand plural marriage from far, far, away, but I think I do in part have familiarity with the Biblical view on materialism, and having a heart for the needs of others. I don't think , either, Meri insisting on a big house, is a very good testimony to the children of the larger groups, if indeed, the Browns want to be a living advertisement for their life style and religion to these young people. Having the house there so she can entertain and feel like a vital part of her family makes sense, and provide that service, even makes a good deal of sense, but one DOES NOT need a wet bar to do that. You just don't. You can work around that. .
I feel the need to respectfully disagree with some of the things you posted, Anonymous 9:40 am....could you give me some examples how Kody has been wise...because I do not see any wisdom coming from Kody at all...I don't feel it's 'wise' of Kody and his wives to use and take advantage of the government (we as taxpayers) to help clothe, house and feed his kids when there are able bodied adults in the family who have shunned their responsibility for their own kids by not working....however, they definitely know how to 'work' the system and 'bleed the beast'....what is 'wise' about suddenly informing your whole family that they are up and moving to Las Vegas in a few days...for no good reason?? Because whatever Kody thought was happening (the police coming to get him to take him to jail) obviously wasn't....what is 'wise' about invading your children's privacy by having cameras in their faces to record things that they may be embarrassed about?? And what's wise about courting one woman while your 3rd 'wife' is in labor?? I could go on, but I'll stop while you think about some answers to those questions...
This was really challenging to watch. The wheels are falling off. Maybe this isn't the last season after all. This is a hot mess, and it's really sad to watch.
Kody bullying on modesty (WTF??? Only in Mexico I guess???), Meri bullying on the stoopid wet bar. Robyn passive aggressive bullying at graduation. These people all hate each other.
I'm not a Brown fan but I just had to chime in and say how much I liked the home movies in last nights episode. Those laughing, giggly toddlers were adorable. It was great to see them all so happy - I wish that was the Brown family we were seeing now.
Meri needs a wet bar like she needs another baby. Krody leaving to go find Robyn was ridiculous, like always.
Dear Sobbin' Robyn,
No one cares that you missed Logan's graduation.
Sincerely, Everyone Else in the World (minus Krody).
I agree with Lorraine and have all along about Janelle. But I don't agree she is the biggest dimwit. They all are vying for that title. All of them are lacking functional IQ.
But more to the point of where and what Sister Wives is now at this point as the new season gets under way.... 1-All of it is scripted....all of it. *It has to be*, otherwise these adults really shouldn't be in charge of minor children. The scenarios are set up, filmed and the actors, the adults (and even the older kids, probably under duress) play their roles.
2- Normal family events like Logan's graduation, are used as filming opportunities and contrived *drama.* There is no reason why a family with the FIRST child graduating would not know until the day of... Complete BS !!!! No reason for Sobbin to be late and filmed frantically trying to find the elusive building... which LV-living bloggers here at SWB have clearly said is ridiculous... No reason to be taking the baby....why wasn't he where her other three were, or where *Truly* and the rest of the smaller children were?....except for her to make the dramatic entrance (on camera of course) at the top of the stairs. Stupid, planned drama !!
3--What woman would *really* be discussing her decision to let another woman carry her egg on camera if it was "real".....would have cameras follow her to her sister's home and expose the sister and her baby except for scripted *drama*...would allow her husband to deliver his ultimatum of *sh*t or get off the pot* on camera (which no doubt will endear him to some viewers).... BS, BS...all just drama for the ratings !! Delaying that scenario *again* just ensures that viewers will stay onboard for the duration of the season.
4-As clueless and self-consumed as this crew appears to be, even they (Meri especially) have to know how bad this all makes them look. Even with the drooling FB fans, they KNOW there is another not so savory image they have created out there, since they do read SWB. That is apparent from some of the pointed tweets they have made.
The whole storyline needs all the BS about wild spending, indulgent housing, etc, etc...to maintain interest. They have willingly agreed to this "show".....agreed to play out the scripts, to get the ratings (even negative attention still IS attention).... Because any and all scenarios, no matter how insanely ridiculous, how insultingly stupid...** just to keep the TLC checks coming !!! **
AMEN! IMO - every single situation is contrived and set up. I don't know if it's by TLC, F8F, or just the Browns (I suspect that, just like the Breaking Amish participants, it's 98% the Browns and the film crew just goes along with it *whatever*) but I don't believe we've seen a single authentic "real" moment since they moved to Vegas, with the exception of the kids' reactions (particularly when the older ones state that their parents get excited and nothing happens).
Again, I think Logan is done with the freak show and wants out.
Even the introduction of Taralyce was calculated. What is the most asked question of the Browns anyway - it's always about the next wife, when are they adding Wife 5 and so on...so this season, they've brought her in - before she was in the background when they were traveling to Boston but never mentioned and all of a sudden BAM - they bring her to the forefront - have YET to mention that she is still a teenager (at least at the time of filming) and look - it's working - even here there is speculation that she is Wife 5.
After looking at their FB pages, I don't believe that Robyn and Taralyce are blood-related at all. Taralyce's mom graduated from HS in 1977 - Robyn was born in 1978. Also, Taralyce's mom lists Robyn as a "friend" only - she has two daughters, a son, cousins, nephew etc listed, why would Robyn not be listed as a daughter?
I also note that Taralyce still lists St George Utah as her home, but not LV.
Again - my guess is that she only stays there on a part-time basis OR she is working as a stylist on the side...and the Browns decided to use her as a plot device to make people think that Kody had a Wife 5 candidate.
And I will throw in the likehood that Taralyce, the sister stylist, is responsible for Sobbin's noticibly different make-up/eyebrow contouring from last season.
Amused - good point about NONE of the younger kids being there. I only recall seeing the older (teenaged) kids. At first I thought that Robyns other kids were at their dads, but where was Truely, Savannah, the fist fighting G boys and the other Y girls? They were probably all with Aunty Taralyce and the Robyn and Sol was for 'drama'. Plain and simple. "Let's pretend that Robyn is late to the graduation and create high drama"....I can see them coming up with that one.
The trip to Meri's sister's house was weird and contrived. Meri didn't really seem to want her input. She acted about as interested in that baby as she would be with a scoop of kitty litter. But we are to believe she made a long voyage to Utah to seek our her sister's widsom? No way....too contrived and artificial.
Agree with everything you said and what was said further below. Am now convinced none of this is real.
"After looking at their FB pages, I don't believe that Robyn and Taralyce are blood-related at all. Taralyce's mom graduated from HS in 1977 - Robyn was born in 1978. Also, Taralyce's mom lists Robyn as a "friend" only - she has two daughters, a son, cousins, nephew etc listed, why would Robyn not be listed as a daughter?"
Robyn mentioned in one of the many interviews that her mom cut her out of her life when they first went public, out of concern for the rest of her family. She had even unfriended her on facebook for a time. It looks like they are slowly rebuilding a relationship of some sort. I've done extensive research on the birth and marriage records while putting together a family tree of the whole bunch, and I can say with certainty that that is Robyn's mom, as well as Taralyce's.
Also, just as an example, my mom graduated high school in 1978. I was born later that same year, one month after Robyn. It happens. :-)
Dakota - Your theory on Taralyce is interesting....could she just be a plant by Robyn/Kody to keep up the ratings? Plot device? It has created a lot of chatter. Who would think the Browns could be that clever?
in the last thread someone stated that Taralyce is the biological daughter of Robyn's step-dad and a different mother than Robyn's. So no, they are not blood related. Also, they stated that Taralyce's mom is currently separated from Robyn's step-dad. Seems like these plygs have just as much trouble staying married as monogs do! lol
I thought it was interesting that they seemed to have totally stopped discussing the surrogacy issue altogether, and now just are talking about deciding on IVF for Meri. Did I miss something where they say they've decided not to use Robyn as a surrogate? Or did Meri just put that foot down when the cameras weren't rolling? I understand if Meri doesn't want to do it, but it's obnoxious to have draaaaggged this issue out and showed many MANY replays of a fresh-out-of-childbirth Robyn making her offer and then to just completely drop it with no explanation.
I think to the Browns, (or at least to Kody/Meri/Robyn who are the only three parties really involved in this issue) IVF and surrogacy are one and the same. To me "surrogate" is like the Baby M case - where the carrying mother is actually the bio mom, rather than an embryo transfer. My guess is that whatever they are referring to, they mean Meri's egg gets fertilized with Kody's sperm and then implanted into Robyn's womb.
What I liked about this episode: enjoyed learning more about McKelty (sp?) and Aspyn. I didn’t know Aspyn planned on being a sister wife and it sounds like she is ready now! I always enjoy seeing the teenagers – love seeing Maddie and Logan, as usual. Loved how Logan threw in the “or more” (with regards to the wives) to keep the peace with the parents. I really enjoy these interactions the most. Also I liked that Kody said something nice about Christine (saying she was instrumental in raising Logan). What I didn’t like: any scene with Meri in it (seriously), the staged parent/teacher conference, the never-ending “will she or won’t she” thing about the baby (KODY: THE ANSWER IS NO), the housing discussions and the word “wetbar”. I thought Kody was the spiritual leader of the family. He is the ‘boss’ when it comes to family decisions (patriarchal). So why can’t the leader of the family communicate with the whole family about Logan’s graduation, including printing out mapquest directions for all the wives? They just spent 10 days together and this never came up? But they could manage to arrange in advance the attendance at a very mundane parent/teacher conference? A lot of things bothered me about the graduation segment. I didn’t see Janelle’s younger kids in the house so is it possible that Kody was actually helping with them and we didn’t see that (I know, how ridiculous is that concept, but still…) because all we saw of Janelle’s kids were the teenagers. Notice how Robyn was trying to ‘blame’ Janelle on her planned lateness by saying that Janelle said that the ceremony would take several hours and it would be hard to keep Sol busy for that long. So Robyn doesn’t have a clear grasp of the alphabet? Because in what world would the last name Brown not be one of the first group called? So why didn’t she come for that part and then leave afterwards in that case? And then Robyn was mad at who exactly that she was late? And where was super nanny Taralyce that she couldn’t keep Sol? (I am guessing her three other children were with their dad). And why wouldn’t Meri have helped her out and picked her up or something...isn’t that the supposed beauty and blessing of having sister wives (Kody must have driven with Meri, otherwise Robyn wouldn’t be driving around lost)? And Kody being all ADD looking for Robyn, calling, texting and disrupting the ceremony for not just the Browns but the other parents in attendance? I don’t think they realize how contradictory their actions are to their words. It’s mind boggling.
ITA with your take on this. I really like the segment with the kids. Aspyn managed to express her desire to follow polygamy without any of the self-righteous, holier than though attitude that plagues Mariah. Mariah comes across to me somewhat like she's making a point of choosing polygamy to earn favor or to make a stand as being the first wife's daughter. Her whole " I WILL be a sister wife" attitude sounds familiar ( " I WILL have more children"). Mykelti also struck me as being sincere and I was pleasantly surprised by Christine's girls since we se so little of the on the show. Hunter is a total sweetie, a little devilish and I'm glad he's fitting in. Logan of course is a great kids f-bombs or no. I mean I'm pretty fluent in that particular dialect of "french"! Here's hoping we see and hear more of the kids points of view in the future. Their parents have become caricatures of themselves at this point. I can't even comment on the so-called "adults" on this epi.
I loved seeing the kids talk, too! I think Mykelti is quite serious about being a fashion designer - did you see all of those shoe designs on her wall? A person doesn't design that many shoes unless they love it. I think she's probably got a lot of clothing designs, too. I hope that she gets the chance to go to college and live her dream.
Aspyn came across as reasonable about polygamy which was lovely
Hunter is awesome - I love that he's thinking about what to do with his future.
The kids are so much more interesting than the adults.
I, too, agree that Janelle is a little on the slow uptake of what is best for herself and her children. I think she was their workhorse. Her money was put into the pot that took care of her and Christine and probably for Meri too. Or, what was probably more realistic was she paid the house payment and major bills, bought groceries and necessities for her and Christine's family and Kody and Meri's little money went for their household. The way I see sisterwives in this polyg family is that Janelle and Christine have been the breeding stock and Janelle the main financial provider. Robyn was for ratings and more children. I see Robyn put out to pasture with Janelle and Meri as soon as wife number five comes along. And, wife number five is probably going to be Robyn's sister. If the truth be told, that is why she is living with Robyn. Stupid Meri saw her and decided that she loved her and wanted her in the family as another way to cause emotional distress for Christine and now Robyn. This entire wife adding is merely Meri's way to dig at the others in a way that they cannot dig back. She cannot add children so she adds wives. Because they are her idea and she pushes for them, she is the one inflicting pain on the others. All very messed up.
In the old clips, Kody was working, and he seemed to be not so terrible at the egotistical alpha male role. I wonder if not working has challenged his masculinity or his role in general. I would think that would be challenging to any marriage for a man to be in that position, especially when he is able-bodied and just lazy, like Kodouche.
It sadly seems like that status change, plus his dubious celebrity, has made him even more lazy and entitled. He doesn't even try to pretend he cares about work anymore. Great role model, buddy! Of course you're having more kids! You're entitled to everything!
Robyn's baby daddy must have wised up. I haven't seen her bonus kids (though I was dry heaving through most of Sobbin' Robyn). I bet he got paid off, making him the real winner, and, of course, his kids the true losers as the involuntary faces of polygamy and a broken family. Hooray! Polygamy makes us better!
Bellarina -- there's no room on the other thread to post, but thank you for answering my question about how polygamy fits into your life. I do think that polyamory is a completely different situation than polygamy, so it makes sense to me that your story would be so different than the Browns...as you all chose this, as opposed to having it thrust upon you by the happenstance of what a religion tells you.
Well I am a polygamist who practices polygamy in a polyamorous way..meaning that it's ethical and consenting. Just meant that not all polygamy is polyamorous, because not all polygamy is ethical (hello Browns) and consenting. But you're welcome- I'd rather people ask than just assume things.
I too want to thank you for your clarification on the previous page.
It is understandable that anyone in a non-religious plural marriage would resent how the Browns are tainting the whole concept by their actions and words.
1) Meri had no interest in, or chance in hell of, producing another baby, either naturally or via IVF. THEY ALL KNOW THAT - certainly they have done a LITTLE research right? Her eggs are 45 years old. Also Meri said in the first season that she was NOT interested in having another baby. now she's dragging it.
2) The entire family - except maybe Robyn - have always known - ALWAYS - that they aren't getting those homes. This is all a huge act. Mona might not be a Rick Hilton, but even she must know that the Browns will never qualify for these homes. I think they are all hoping we will forget that when the Browns first moved to LV, they tried to qualify for OLDER, less expensive homes and were turned down. Hell, they barely got the rentals as it was...
All in all, the Browns, Mona/TMI Real Estate, Pinnacle (the builders), the fertility doctors...they ALL are in on the big scam, in an effort to keep interest up in the show and keep it going for another season. I'm not sure how much TLC knows - for all we know they might just be saying - whatever as long as ratings stay high. But we saw what happened just recently with Breaking Amish when it was revealed that it was all a scam...
DakotaJustice - I think you may be onto something. Maybe they are all just acting and we are the suckers. I think it's awful for the kids and I hope the older ones are in on it....but it would make a little more sense if we looked back in a few years and found out that the whole thing was made up. Meri must be getting bonus money for the wet bar controvery....maybe that is a big fu to all of us non fundamentalist people out there who are evil and would actually use a wet bar? Maybe she was told "we will give you $1,000 for the number of times you can mention that you NEED a wetbar" and she is laughing all the way to the bank.
SW is the first reality show I have really followed. I have read the Breaking Amish story. Will we find out we have been lied to? Interesting theory.
I was wondering whether the whole home thing is as fake as Breaking Amish was. Do the builders and Mona actually think that the Browns will build these homes, or are they acting, too? I wish Mona or one of the builders would come forward and 'fess up.
Whether or not the home building drama is fake, the emotions the wives are experiencing are definitely real.
I hate that reality tv destroys relationships like this.
I am beginning to think Christine is the smart one as she is more quiet and reserved and her children are artistic and sweet. Christine, suck all you can out of the Browns while the money is coming in. You dont need Scrubby, scrody or whatever his long hair bipolar/manic looking guys name is. Love yourself, love your children and would love you to go on dancing with the stars. You need a agent. LOL... kudos and hugs from your fan. The rest? Cwazy!
Sobbin Robyn: How rude is it to PLAN to be late so that you walk in front of actual parents who are there to see their own child? How dumb are you not to find that huge center? You can see it clearly as a visitor just while you're going by doing the normal tourist stuff.
Why did you bring Super Sol to the graduation? Of course to remind Kody that YOU have his latest male offspring. We've got your number, Robyn.
While I doubt Kody reads this blog, we know that some of the wives and children do. But I'd like to say to Kody: Yes, we all know that you WERE blaming Janelle for not disseminating the information about the graduation. We all agree that you are responsible for telling people, too. I mean, it's not like you have a job. And why were you at the graduation in the first place? Oh yeah, it was for LOGAN and not to see if Sobbin Robyn was OK. Why weren't you at LOGAN'S house to help him get ready?
Parent teacher conferences: That doesn't mean an opportunity to say, "Look at us, we are polygamists, in your face!" All the moms attending might have been more believable if they actually acted like they were a family-i.e. Robyn having other moms watch Super Sol, Meri caring about the NEEDS of her bonus children. Since you don't give a flying f any other time, we know it's just another opportunity for you all to show off. Do you all have any clue had bad it looks to go from the debt counselor's office to throwing out money for IVF? Do you all realize that we don't think Victoria's Secret debt makes for a sympathetic excuse for whining about not having central heat in your trailer? C'mon Robyn, you go to WORK? You need a live-in babysitter for that? Meri- will you be using that wet bar as a changing table for diapers? We know that as of right now you don't have those houses.
I hope the Dargers put you in your place. Your show is on the way out, folks, don't you get it? Then we'll be right back to paying your grocery bills. I can only imagine the tax deductions you'll be taking for these "businesses." Dargers, we really would like to see what a FUNCTIONING household with one husband and multiple wives with children is like. That's why I started watching this show and have yet to see it.
Why any of these women stay with Kody is beyond my comprehension. The way he treats them is unbelievable. He is mentally abusive to all of them. He tells Meri he's having more kids, with or without her. This woman who cannot decide whether she even wants to try for another child and he's bullying her to make a decision. Jerk!!
He's also mentally abusive to Janelle and Christine (telling her he's not attracted to her and married her because she's poly royalty). I think the only one hasn't started on is Robyn because she's new. I think in time, when he gets tired of her and wants another wife, we'll see Kody bringing up Robyn's poverty before she "married" him.
I feel sorry for the kids. They act like they have no father. There really isn't much of bond there. Even at the graducation when Kody hugged his son, it seemed very impersonal. Kind of like he was congratulating his cousin's kid rather than his own. The only child who seems enamored of Kody is Mariah. I worry about her though. She has that look in her eye like she's been brainwashed into this lifestyle. She must be a very impressionable young woman.
We should take up a collection to buy Meri a free standing bar. Is she aware that she doesn't need to spend another 50K on a house over a piece of furniture to be built in when she can buy a wood, leather and marble one (WITH LOCKS for the kids to keep them out of the liquor) for $1,000!
I have trouble sympathizing with any of the women because they choose to stay in this mess. I felt sorry for Jenelle for a while, but not anymore. If she can't see what a terrible life that is that's on her, I can't feel bad for someone that continuously makes the same mistakes. I can understand to a degree why Christine puts up with it, and I see her as a simpleton to be honest and she doesn't know any better, has no formal education, no work experience, but Jenelle could actually make it, if she wanted to. They all can, but she's got the best chance because she's willing to work, or was anyway,
Any of them could make it, actually, especially if (big if!) they have been smart with their money from the show. Christine is beautiful and capable, though obviously beaten down by the weight of this dysfunction. She did homeschool those kids for years and mother way more than her share in very lean times.
She'd be better off without this deadweight. It isn't like Kody or Wet Bar Meri work or help or anything, she'd be better off on her own. Of course she could make it! If Christine left tomorrow and started a daycare, I bet it would be full right away because of her obvious love for children and her positive, motherly energy. She would be an amazing wife if someone actually married her. Kody is so clueless.
Yea, but we don't know how much of actual schooling was done at home. I mean from what I remember in one episode, it was mostly spelling and math. How much can someone with just a highschool education actually teach? I wouldn't personally want my kid to be looked after by a woman that doesn't have some form of training, or education in child care.
Christine could do a lot of things, even with limited work experience and limited education. She doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to make it as a single mom.
Sue for child support, she doesn't even have to get divorced, how convenient. It might not even be too financially different than now. Better yet, take the show solo, and that'll show them. Go out there and make it on your own! Sister Wives has legs as a show because these women can do it, and eventually someone is going to leave and thrive. I can't wait to see that part, and I hope it's Christine.
I've been trying so hard to keep up with this blog, I love it. This is way off this topic, but did I read somewhere the Robyn changed Dayton (or Date-on, as Robyn calls him)name? When and why? Thank you!!
I think Janelle is the smartest one she held a good paying job before moving to Las Vegas. I don't care for Meri and Robyn they make me sick with their whining. Christine is my favorite. I hope all the children turn out well.
Meri has gone off the rails for sure. I've never seen anyone exhibit such an illogical air of entitlement aside from people who've grown up incredibly rich and don't know any differently. Isn't it cheaper to just install a wet bar after the home is finished, if she needs it so badly, than to add another room? And why can't one of her 4 extra bedrooms be used as a hobby room? She makes no sense.
Was anyone else laughing at the courses taught by the teachers the Brown's met? Study Skills (taught by the illustrious Dr. Guido)? Family Consumer Science? Do the Brown kids not take courses like math and science or were those teachers just unwilling to go on camera? I also found it funny that possibly the most athletically challenged family in Nevada was asking the P.E. teacher how they could help their precious offspring get ahead.
Thank you! I thought the same thing about the 'courses' they sounded like random electives and I did not see any other parents around. Therefore I think this whole thing was a set up and a staged event. I was pleased that none of the teachers were 'confused, surprised' at the polygamist family. Teachers are used to all sorts of baby daddy/baby mama situations so I was pleasantly surprised that the teachers were very matter-of-fact about the family. Although I think Robyn tried to get some 'reaction' by constantly butting into the conversations and trying to say something 'outrageous' - no these teachers aren't falling for the 'we are a plyg family schtick'.
And yes, I agree that one of the most health and fitness -challenged family in NV was asking how their kids could 'get ahead'. In PE? Seriously? Clearly Mariah going to every single class every single day thanks to her superlative mother didn't do much for her fitness level. Of course, I should say in the spare moments Mariah has when she takes a break from praying that her mom becomes pregnant. I am probably going to heck for that....oh well!
On the first page of comments, Big Mike says: "From what I can see from the teacher conferences is that it's a joke. They attend centennial high school but the school pics are from las Vegas day school. That school is Pre k through 8 th grade only. I think the school district didnt want them in their school. Ive seen the kids at the high school football games. Hell christine was working the concessions stand. She sold me water. Hunter worked with me at the football camp in the spring."
So it's reasonable to say that at least some of the parent-teacher conference was a set-up.
I tell you, though, that I'm sick and tired of their "look at us! we're polygamists! bet you've never seen that before!" schtick. Seriously, Browns, to those teachers you're just a dick with a bunch of baby mommas. You don't need to announce that you're polygamists everywhere you go.
All the others are hers, snark. Although maybe the older ones, don't believe the others are. Look, mothers like me that have spread out kids know the older you are, the more it takes to get you going. After 34 years of parenting, I have 3 to go and EXCITED! Happily admit I have been lazier on the last 3. Just grateful they are my good eggs, for I don't have the fight in me to constantly correct.
I totally agree. I am thirty-something. My daughter is eighteen and has moved out for college and to be a nanny. Our son is still at home and he is four years old. It's a TOTALLY different ball game when you're an older mother, LOL!!!!! I feel you, momma! Sounds like youll be home free in no time. Enjoy that, hehe. <3 xo
I am of the opinion that Meri has absolutely NO desire for a child. She loves her free time. She is putting us on, you know like 99% of the show. lol
The way TLC puts these shows together, some of the clips could be ages old. But I agree there are a few scenes where Robyn looks preggers-on the couch a definite pooch on her anorexic body, and when walking down to be the star of the graduation- Could be TLC trickery to make us wonder, considering they are dragging out the IVF to NEXT SEASON, or Christmas. NO WOMAN would have to take two years to answer that question. NONE.
Many seem to have not enjoyed this epi. I thought it was hilarious! they show us that they are so dumb, they tell on themselves by their idiotic behavior. **Robyn, where's your other two kids at the grad., with the babysitter?????? Where are all the other ones, only the older ones were there!!! I agree, IVF is for play, and TLC, it is throwing your show off. MOVE on!!!! We really don't care for the wetbar bartender! Janelle has stumped me at times, but probably from the faith. I still like her, and would rather be around with her than anyone. Christine, shine on!!!!
Let's all watch. LOGAN is everyone's child with Robyn front and center in the pics after 2 yrs. KING SOLOMON will be ROBYN'S child when she graduates. Remember when a poster that went to the football games posted the parents were never at the games? I guess Camera only parenting!
Come on guys, they are a scream, they tell on themselves. IF ONLY, (SOUTH PARK are you listening?????)SOUTH PARK would do a sketch on this crew! There skits on Dog the BH and Honey Boo Boo were comedy genius.
Speaking of fashion design, Mormon layers, and such...... I know someone that is defiantly anorexic. How, not sure, she eats when she's around me. Her family is very wealthy, and snobby. (There is money for help) And she's good. When I lived and worked with her, I was with her quite a bit, even overnites, shopping etc. Could NOT for the life of me figure it out and yes, I was spying. She ate, she didn't run to the bathroom, etc. But she got so stick thin after I moved that my son told me she passed out at work and was in ICU for days, they didn't know if she would make it. The family blamed that on her eye drops. She started wearing layers over the years to cover it up. She has 2 shirts and a sweater for every occasion, and they are expensive, cool looks BUT, poor thing, when I confronted her with love and worry, and a place to get help on her vacation, that was the end of me. ANYWAY the women could wear layers without ruffles. RUFFLES on big girls! I am a bigger girl, not as big as them but got a middle and too lazy to worry about my muffin. A friend bought me a ruffled shirt and I looked like BIG BIRD! COME ON WOMEN, buy some cool shirts from LOFT on sale or something!
Not to mention the fact that wearing skin-tight clothes (with or without ruffles) that show off every roll of fat is about as modest as showing your belly.
I don't always want to see the shape and form of their bodies, you know? I wish they'd actually show us the modesty they claim to have.
I don't understand how the Brown's can tweet in "real time" and also tweet about the current episode as if it too were "real time"? How do they not give away plot set ups when the teens are tweeting daily about real events. For all of them to keep their real lives apart from their phony TV lives on a daily basis requires due diligence, no? Diabolical if you ask me.
2.) Her uncomfortable nervous laughs about being late to Logan's graduation; there were two of them. You HAVE to pause your DVR on the first face!! It is CRAZY LOOKING!!
3.) Loved how Meri Go Round turns into Kodouche's shoulder to sob about the baby thing and then instantly, she is off of him and done crying. I think he pulled back or she realized just how stupid she looked!
4.) It was fun to see the kids videos; I wish them all well! I do not think there is hope for their egg and sperm donors!
My guess is that they are going to try to depreciate at least part of their homes as "working space." Robyn's recent twitter confirmed that:
"@carrie_linn: @LuvgvsUwngs And the extra room is perfect for business space! Tax write offs!! Double win :-)" Yea Meri does our shipping!
I haven't been involved in the tax rules in more than a decade, but if my memory serves, it goes like this. If you depreciate part of your home, you can write it off on your taxes for a series of years. HOWEVER, if you sell the house for a gain, part of that gain will be taxed as ordinary income (eg, like wages from an employer) and not as tax-exempt from the sale of a home.
Of course, they will never sell their homes. I see foreclosure in their future.
No, they cannot really write much off here. IF they dedicated a room solely for ONLY business, they could take the square footage of that room divided by the square footage of the whole house and take part of the interest, utilities, etc. But we are talking ONLY if the room is used SOLELY for the business. And the IRS looks very closely at these deductions and these types of deductions on your Schedule D are big red flags to the IRS. Sorry, got carried away there but being a CPA I had to weigh in. I will also point out that "forgiven debt" (i.e. all that debt Robyn had written off, etc) is TAXABLE INCOME....so be prepared, Browns to pay some tax on those forgiven debts. Now that you visited that credit counselor and cleaned it all up, the IRS will have a record and will come get their piece. The IRS is kind of like a plyg wife...they want their share.
And Meri does the shipping? No wonder the shipping costs are so high, Meri NEEDS that wet bar after all.
The Meri sobbing on Kody's shoulder was such a farce. He immediately looks at the camera and never once attempts to comfort her. Now, when Sobbing Robyn cries, he embraces her and rocks a little to comfort her. Heads up Meri, you've been replaced....better get on that finding another wifey for the husband so Robyn's position can be usurped.
I've been wondering what the adults do all day. Seriously, without jobs, let's say you're not on one of your silly vacations, what in the world do you do all day?
I enjoy a break from work just like the next guy, but to never go to work is beyond my understanding. How do you spend your hours??
Probably what you do when you have your day off, when youre on vacation or what you will do when you retire. If youre child(ren) is(are) in childcare, maybe they doing what your nanny or child care provider is doing. There is more to life than working, seriously. These people NEED jobs desperately. But there are plenty of people who have very fulfilling lives and who do not rely on the structure of a job to provide it for them. KWIM?
Well, from the looks of it, they sit quite a bit. Sit and stew about what they could add as a storyline. I don't know, but would assume it is more them than their "religion" that has got the group so entitled. My vision Kody bouncing where he wants, wandering more into LV to look at the ladies, looking to see if they are looking at them (a song here) and going in and out of whatever homes he HAS to visit like WHEW, what a workday!!!! Meri - oh, the plotter of the group she thinks. She's got some competition with Christine and Robyn. Chews candy a lot. Makes sure she indocturnes Mariah on how to be the first wife. Plot plan, greed. Christine flucuates from trying to be true to her faith and her former family, being a mom, and dreaming of whopping the h#$% out of Robyn or Meri or both depending on the day. Sleeps soundly when she has amused herself. Does try, needs to get out and be happy. Remember - she trusts no one. Janelle - miserable with herself. Does much of the, no, all of the finanical work, planning. Being more of a mother now she has the chance. The show has opened her eyes and secretly hates Meri, but doesn't know what to think of Robyn, and just stays clear.
I loved the video of the teenagers when they were little having fun. Christine is a very nurturing person and she has gifted the family with loving childcare for years. So, why isn't she more appreciated? Also, it bothered me that Janelle told her daughter to shut up when she said something about how she missed seeing Logan get his diploma. That part was unscripted for a change. I did feel bad for her when she had trouble getting in and out of the desk at the parent teacher conference. Meri has her faults, but I think the younger children really enjoy her attention and she could teach them about crafts and having an adventurous spirit. She should focus more on the children that are already there and not have a baby just to please Kody. I'd like to see her just enjoy her life the way it is and not worry about what she is lacking and enjoy what she has.
I mentioned this before but my comment did not get posted, but it bothers me that you call Robyns body "anorexic." Another poster said her body was "bony like a teenage boy." Just because someone is on the thin side does not make them anorexic or less womanly.
They all need to be more womanly and woman up and leave! If my daughter or sister were in a "relationship" like this, I would consider it code red. Their eating habits are the least of their problems, obviously.
I am a bit more sensitive to body talk because I worked for 10 years with girls who have eating disorders/body issues. Many women feel like they can't win, either too big and gross or too thin and gross. I love this blog because it discusses the Brown's antics, I think that personal digs on women's bodies are just cruel. Also, I am thinner then Robyn and am in no way anorexic or do I look like a teenage boy, I am actually pretty hot if I do say so myself! ;)
When I said she was bony like a teenage boy, I was speaking of her sharp angular face and (of course) body. It's just my preference for soft, sexy curves. I was responding to someone saying that Robyns a "trophy wife." My opinion is shes not because (to me) she isn't attractive. Also, you can be soft and curvy at any weight.
I had made some comments about the girls bodies, thought better and deleted them from my blog. But these are adults.
I justify talking about their weights because not only did they volunteer to go on TV, knowing they would be critiqued, but also because they tried to profit off and had many discussions over their weights. So doesn't that justify making it a fair topic? Since they initially brought it up? And since they made it a specific focus? Maybe I shouldn't have responded about Robyn's facial appearance. Its not like she can change her face. I will try to remember that in the future and leave that one alone.
for me it was not that you didn't find her attractive (we all have our preferences and there is nothing at all wrong with that) it was more that her body being thin equated it being like a boy. I often hear people call women with curves more womanly which is very destructive. If you have a vagina then you are womanly, end of story! Some woman have large breasts, some small, some with big hips, some built straight up and down, it doesn't make a difference in how "womanly" they are. That said, I do enjoy your comments about this family very much, you are one witty woman! :)
How much of Meri's housing demands are hers and how much is being fed to her from Kody? I was under the impression the two of them together had qualified for the home since they are the only ones legally married. Maybe if this whole thing falls apart he wants to make sure he has the home he wants out of the deal too.
I hadn't thought of that. It actually makes sense, as in complete and total selfishness, if you hear Kody arguing for the wet bar instead. So much for all sharing all the time. :O
You are right. I think Meris wet bar is Kody induced. Someone has to have a childfree home to have over their associates from their MLM and other people. Someone has to do the business entertaining. You can not bring over people you need to brainwash... I mean sell your spiel to in a home where a toddler might leave chocolate covered slobber on your paperwork. Meri is using this home as their HEADQUARTERS. She will not have another child. I was sick of hearing about that in season 4. She is OLD and nasty, spends her time tanning and trying to look the part of a celebrity. Look at the changes in hair and clothes these women have made in the last 4 episodes!
A little off topic. I just went to My Sister Wives Closet. They have 9 pieces of jewelry for sale and one ornament? I read from previous posts that the shipping costs were outrageous and I had to see for myself. How could this be a business? 10 items for sale? Wow..all I can say is that they must be using this as a business write off. Sad..another scam
Re. the trip for the parent-teacher conferences---obvioiusly staged as there was not one other parent in sight. And as mentioned by a couple of other posters, it is super-annoying when people who live an "alternative lifestyle" feel entitled to have the rest of society "accept" and/or "applaud"---then get upset if society doesn't. This, for me, extends to such things as a parent leaving a spouse because the person found someone "better" or "more exciting," then expecting everyone else (family, friends) to accept the decision and get angry if acceptance is withheld. The whole scenario of "accept-whatever-I-do-and-if-you-don't-you-are-an-intolerant-bigot" is one of my PET PEEVES!
The teacher (Mguido12) already tweeted that it was not held at the High School. The Principal said no way to the crew on campus. They held the fake conferences at Las Vegas Day School.
I checked the assessor records, and all four lots (6-9) are pending offers. Each is the five-bedroom "Condor" plan. Maybe they managed to pull off the financing after all? Perhaps when Christine said they weren't living in the houses at the UNLV conference, she meant they weren't living in them yet?
Just a quick note - We can discuss, but no one POST the Actual address of the new homes, or the current ones. We do not want to publicly give out their address.
If Robyn's sister is a beautician, perhaps she can the others in on stylist haircut, coloring, makeup - do something with that ugly long stringy hair= guess it goes along with the jewelery.
I don't even know what to say, after watching last night. First off, Kody's new Dorthy Hamill looks worse than his old "do"...and I didn't think that was possible.
I always look for little signs in people, and watching Janelle cry at the graduation last night was very telling. First off, Kody states that he doesn't know if she is crying due to their son graduating or the fact that she was upset. This was one moment that I would of expected him to show her some comfort/and honor her during a once in a lifetime moment for Logan. All he does is look and her and then look back at the stage. Can you imagine how upsetting that would be if your husband is worried sick that Robyn can't find the place...so much so that he is willing to miss Logan walk, and yet you are shedding tears and he just looks at you like you are an alien? I wanted to jump through the screen and punch his lights out.
The whole Meri thing is so old. First off, her orange face was so distracting. I didn't understand that at all. Second, it is clear to everyone including my basset hound, Gov that Meri does not want another baby. What Meri wants is to have Kody's undivided attention. What Meri wants is to have the right to moan and complain constantly about how she is so deserving. I work sometimes 14 hour days, and I deserve a new car....but guess what....I am driving an older one that has been paid off for years because I need to be practical and responsible with my resources.
The whole concept of this Kumbaya lifestyle that they tried to sell us was that they are one whole family unit and they work together as a team. So why in the world is Meri entitled to a 5 bedroom palace complete with a wetbar two steps from the kitchen, if it is harmful to the finances of the family? We all know that they didn't get the houses, but since this is all playing out right now, I just can't quite wrap my head around this.
I also see Robyn's sister as the next wife. I pegged that last week when we caught a glimpse of her. Why in the world does Robyn need her to watch their son, if another wife who isn't working can? Isn't that what the lifestyle is all about.
Oh, and Meri, how about having the planner build your island with a sink it is as well? If you love entertaining so much, that would be the sensible solution to this charade of tears. Turn a bedroom into your hobby room or whatever you call it, and then maybe just maybe the echos of those lonely rooms as you roam the halls at night will not torture you.
Last night's episode was boring because it was so contrived. And no husband tells his barren wife he's having more kids with another wife if she does not cooperate. Meri knows he'll have more kids anyway and it's only a matter of time.
One or more of the wives will leave Kody. The question will be, who? And will TLC help?
For those who say these women should or will leave, I agree and I wish! However, I highly doubt that will ever happen. These women believe that they're relying on Kody for their SALVATION! Based upon that, I don't believe that any of these women are going anywhere. That is the crux of what makes these religious situations abusive. The ULTIMATE power is ALWAYS in the males hands. The women rely on their husband for their salvation. Just writing it is shocking to me. I believe in a loving and just God. I dont even believe that he judges us. Of the thousands of near death experiences that I have read, not a single one did someone say that they were judged. Thousands have said that they self-judged. But that there is no judgment beyond self-judgment.
I just read that some of the Brown or Sullivan kids might be reading this blog. Well, in that case I would like to sincerely apologize for discussing the children's weights. It's not fair game. And like I said, they are all BEAUTIFUL. Please accept my apology. I am an adult and I should know better than to discuss the weight of an innocent child. The parents signed up for this. The kids are too young to even understand the impact of going on tv therefore are absolved of any culpability for being on tv. <3
LisaLovesToWrite, I agree with you 110% about the wives not leaving....we always have to realize that when we voice our opinions here (about having so many kids, etc) about some of the things they do, we are speaking from our own viewpoints, they are looking at it from their 'religion' and what the 'religion' tells them to do....not saying I agree with their religion, (not at all!!!!) but you have to look at things from their viewpoint to try and understand some of the things they do...as for trying to buy 4 huge McMansions, I have no clue why they want to do that other than greed!!!
Kody says he will have more kids. BUT, do you think the reason Kody avoids Christine is because he is afraid she will get pregnant and he DOES NOT want more kids with HER?
The wet bar is just a sink with a counter to place a buffet. You don't need to drink to have one.
If they had picked a different building they would not be so limited in what options they can have.
Merri is done but will do Ivf for kody. But it probably won't work. I think Robyn and Kody will be having one. She can't stop getting pregnant for almost a year while she decides. She is in her 30's. Her clock is also ticking.
I thought Kody said each wife decides. Why is he pressing each wife about this? He comes off looking like he is using them to breed.
I have been trying to keep up with all the comments today and have enjoyed reading them but I have not been able to read them all. That said, forgive me if someone already suggested this...
It just dawned on me! Duh!!! The reason Kody is pushing Meri to decide RIGHT NOW about the baby is because he wants to make more babies with RObyn ASAP and if Meri uses Robyn as a surrogate, it will be another year or more before he can knock Robyn up again. I think he could care less about Meri having another baby...he wants more babies with his favorite wife, Robyn.
Most curious I am about why Robyn, who normally can't keep her mouth shout, has yet to voice her opinon on the whole "should meri get as big a house as the rest" question. She once explained where meri was coming from and where christine/janelle was coming from, but where is she coming from?? I can't help but think she is on team C/J here but is afraid to alienate her bff...
I agree with everybody on the equal sharing points, however I do see why it would be sad for Meri not to have a house that the whole family could visit at once. That would immidialtly exlude her from being hostess at anything. The wetbar thing is stupid. And ugly.
I rewatched the episode this morning and Robin nodded ever so slightly and apparently sympathetically while Meri was talking about wanting a big house. Christine and Janelle just stared at Meri or straight into space.
Since Meri's house is the only one that will legally belong to Kody, I have to believe Kody wants it big and grand. And Robin will support anything Kody wants.
Robyn's a lifetime plyg survivalist. She knows the other two hold no clout w/Kody like Mother Meri does. She's smart to not ever get on the wrong side of Mean Girl Meri. She knows how to play the game w/first wife - outwardly and then passive/aggressive behind the scenes w/Kodilocks.
Just like most of you, I found the home video's of the teenagers as baby's quite enjoyable. I think it was very tactless of Kody to rob Janelle of a moment to be proud by attributing Logan's achievements to Christine. That was not the time or place for that comment.
Robyn just proved again that she is an absolute idiot. Not only do graduates get called in alphabetic order, honors students are called ahead of the rest. So, Logan would have been called within the first few minutes of the program. She is just an attention whore that wanted to make a grand entrance so all eyes would be on her.
Meri is an absolute bore. She has 2 subjects. . . babies and wet bars. That woman really needs to find something to occupy her time.
I think that the most honest moment of the show was when Maddie mentioned how there is tension in the family because mothers don't always get along. They can pretend all they want to be one big happy family but thier children and their own body language speaks volumes to the contrary.
It will be interesting to see what path next week's episode with the Darger's takes. My guess it will not at all be as interesting as the clips make it seem.
I watch the show on Sunday's now purely to understand all of the comments here!
Just for reference purposes, hope it's ok to copy and paste Rachael's post from the blog thread regarding the UNLV Q&A and the way the family responded when they were asked about the status of the homes:
"October 21, 2012 2:06 PM ...They were truthful about that but the subject was changed REAL fast. The Therapist was telling the audience how much they love each other and how close they are to one another and how they desperately want to be living together or all next door to one another. She then asked them if they were living next door to each other yet and it they got the houses that they wanted. They hung their heads in shame and sadly and awkwardly/ embarrassingly said no then very quickly changed the subject..."
The way I interpret the above is not that they were still waiting for final approval, or waiting for the houses to be built so they could move in - if they "sadly and awkwardly/embarrassingly said no then changed the subject" means IMO that the entire house deal fell through.
sad that they convinced the teens this dream was going to happen unlike all their other disappointments. I know Maddie and Hunter both expressed optimistic enthusiasm about moving into them soon on this episode. ;'( but, of course, it's no shock to the rest of us realistic adults out here in the real world.
and now that I think more about it - as comments state that 1) there is a glut of homes on the market in LV currently and 2) they could find a different building/"cuddle sac" to live in if they can't get what they want...
another theory: They never intended to buy these homes to begin with, and/or knew full well they could never qualify. However, they needed to boost ratings and keep their viewers AND they wanted to give Mona/TMI a boost as well. It appears Mona is the realtor for these homes so they did her a favor and got some visibility for them - notice in this episode the builders name was prominently displayed in front of the model home. So even if the Browns don't get them (and it appears they haven't), Mona gets free nationwide advertising, and her commission...
I guess this means that if they didn't get the houses that they were expecting to be moved in by the end of the year, that Meri still doesn't have to make a "Baby decision". The deal was if I recall..."Meri you decide by the end of the year when we move into the houses"
I just found this blog today. Love it! I understand having a wet bar in a family roon or rec room or ANYPLACE other that the kitchen. Why would one need a wet bar so close to the kitchen sink? It just seems such a stupid thing to care so much about. And Meri has never gotten on my nerves until this week. Make a decision, woman! Clearly, she doesn't WANT another baby anymore. She's too old and babies and LOTS of work (I get that, I'm 43). But she is too ashamed to admit it in this family dynamic that worships babies. She probably really wanted one a few years ago but now with everyone pressuring her, she just can't admit it. It's a shame that baby making is so highly coveted. And I think her daughter was totally out of line pressuring her mom like that. Meri needs to tell everyone, "I'm just too old." The result of that, however, is Kody will take a new wife and make more babies and care less and less about her. Can somebody explain the belief of why it is so coveted to have 50 million children? Is it a heavenly thing?
The parent teacher conferences WERE NOT HELD AT THEIR CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL. One if the teachers (mguido12) tweeted that they held it at "Las Vegas Day School.". This show is all lies.
Ooooh, oooh, ooooh! I had a thought earlier today. We've all noticed how Meri refers to Kody as "Lover" in tweets, etc. Now, hasn't it been pointed out that in their 'religion' sex is solely for the purpose of recreation? I think this is her way of letting her sister wives and the rest of the world know that she & the hubs are still getting it on, infertility and belief system be dam*ed.
Now, hasn't it been pointed out that in their 'religion' sex is solely for the purpose of recreation?
I think the word you're looking for is procreation. Recreation is would be for fun...now that I think about it, maybe recreation IS the better word describing Meri and Kody!
Just to clarify something, which may have already been commented on, but I'll add it anyway... Logan DID NOT graduate from college, he graduated from High School. The ceremony just took place at the UNLV auditorium. This was obviously filmed in june, it's not that recent. He was talking about starting at UNLV, but most high school students find out where they are accepted while still in high school, at least that was the case for me. So anyway, I just remember a lot of people commenting on how they didn't understand why Logan was graduating from college after only one year.
Does anyone else kind of get the idea maybe Meri has Kody by the balls because she is the first and only legal wife? Just wondering if that is the reason everyone is putting up with this nonsense. how selfish! also janelle works and makes babies. If anyone deserves more it's heer!
I think Janelle is done having children...because she is well aware she can't afford any more. I do not believe she was happy when Robin got pregnant in the middle of the Las Vegas upheaval.
IIRC, Christine gave birth the last time in the hospital because there were issues with the previous pregnancy (miscarriage related, maybe) and she felt safer in the hospital. She may feel it would not be medically wise to be pregnant again. IIRC, it was revealed that Kody 'encouraged' Christine's other kids to beg her to get pregnant this last time.
Robin is tagged as the newest baby maker... and I think her days are numbered. So just how many more kids does Kody think he will get to have even if Meri doesn't get pregnant?
ARRGH. So angry!!! First off, their cars. Not even including the teens' vehicles, I estimate the Browns have at least 70K in car payments right now. Meri's red Kia isn't anything too expensive, but Toyota Siennas, even used ones, are a pretty penny. Hell, I am buying a NEW car tomorrow (my first new one ever!!), and both my spouse and I have J-O-B-S . . . this is something we've had to work really hard for. The Browns just seem to get everything their little heads ever dream up with no real evidence that they do anything other than plan their ~*~dream houses~*~, eat free Mexican food, or doodle dog-paw designs for their "jewelery line."
Second, how can the Browns expect their children to have any sort of work ethic or want to go to school when the parents do little to display that themselves? They are not great role models in that regard -- no parent holds down a steady job, so why should the children see the value in attending school? I don't blame them, why bother when their parents have done so well leeching off the system and only one having any sort of post-secondary degree.
Next, for the love of god why don't they just buy an apartment complex? There are MANY for sale in LV -- ranging from 300,000 to 14mil. Heck there is even one in the 1 mil. range that has 36 units -- MORE than enough for each family member to have their OWN apartment, and the Browns could lease out the rest and actually *GASP* make some income!!!
WHY does Kody always have to stand bow-legged? Is his pot-belly really ruining his posture to that extent?
Meri doesn't NEED a 5th bedroom but DOES need a wetbar? Why??? I've gone my entire life without a wet bar and don't believe I've unduly suffered because of it. A "craft room"?!? Oh my f***ing god what nonsense is that? Call it a "studio" at least and maybe write it off as a MSWC expense for "working from home."
Finally, why does Kody not understand that his daughters get upset when he says "that is something a father should NEVER see on his daughter's body!" I mean, what the hell, I'm not accusing him of being a creep and actively looking, but he could phrase that a lot more tactfully and not make his daughters feel ashamed of their bodies. I'm sure they all have enough body issues as is since weight seems to be a problem for this family.
Sorry for the horrible long ranty-rant, but I am so irritated! So glad to have this blog where we can all vent -- my husband refuses to watch the show because of how mad it makes me, so this is sort of therapeutic for me ;)
It bothers me that in this so-called 'religion' of theirs, that women are basically breeders...and also breadwinners, like in Janelle's case....or in the case of Christine, a user of the system (government)....the children are generic planet fillers: the more, the merrier, quantity is key...and if the men are similar to Kody, they are lazy, egotistical wife abusers.....really sad that this 'religion' uses its followers the way it does....
I used to really like Meri (like during season one). But my goodness! She couldn't be any whinier or boring now! I agree with the person on the other thread that said we should vote her off the show!
I don't think she wants another baby... if she did she wouldn't have a single doubt. That's her answer. However... I thought it was really insensitive for Kody to say "I'm going to have more children anyways, so if you say no, I'm OK with it". Wow. You're a rock star husband!
I hope they continue to evolve the show to show more of the teens - I really enjoy them more than the parents!
I don't understand why Meri thinks she has to have a wet bar, but I think she should have one. Think how much more interesting the show would be if we had all four wives sitting around getting hammered. Then maybe we could get some honest answers. I don't understand why there has to be a bedroom for the wet bar. Why can't she put it outside? Too bad Kodouche has no skills or he could build her one for much less than a contractor will charge. But that would require actual labor on his part.
Kodouche needs to go to Home Depot with some of his older kids and learn how to build MeanMeri her flipping wetbar...the project would be a chance for him to spend quality time with his kids. Of course since he would rather produce children than parent them, I'm guessing it's more convenient to just order up the super-sized house with wetbar included! These folks are warped...scripted or not, these adults have serious issues.
I believe that is the newest image. I found a short video of them at UNLV but her stomach is covered.
ReplyDeleteGuess there was no live chat w/ the Browns during the show this evening. But Robyn did tweet this about 5 hrs ago:
ReplyDelete"if you are trying to get on MSWC & it won't work, try in a little while. So many people on site can crash it"
Hahahahahahahahaha.....Please Robyn, I betcha when people shop on line at Wal-Mart, Target, etc....they don't have this problem.
DeleteCynical....a craft fair? I looked at an official sw facebook page but didn't see anything. I would love to go to some craft fair to see them..
DeleteNope but I'm about to go check out the nausea on the FB friend only page now...lol O_o
DeleteIf they are at a 'craft fair' in vegas, they will sell that CRAP... if only for their devout fans to see and talk to them!
DeleteI do have to make a really big comment-I do not know if it is the picture, or the actualy piece, but their 'claudagh hand ' (sorry for sp) , the hand looks more like a halloween skeleton hand then an irish claudagh. YUCK!!!!
The site was down most of the weekend so it wasn't just down during the show. I get so tired of their lies and misrepresentations. It wasn't down because so many people were on it.
DeleteSO their jewelry - which is actually made by a third party jeweler - is considered a "craft"? Just looked the definition up and found this:
Delete1.making things by hand: a profession or activity involving the skillful making of decorative or practical objects by hand, e.g. weaving, pottery, or woodcarving
2.object produced by skillful handwork: something produced skillfully by hand, especially in a traditional manner, e.g. a piece of pottery or carving
3.skill: skill in making or doing things, especially by hand
NONE of the above applies to the craptastic jewelry being hawked by the Browns. Etsy is an online craft show/marketplace and the Brown's stuff would NOT qualify to be on that site. The show promoters must be desperate. I bet the Brown booth will have jewelry and of course their MLM green crap, along with autographed books. gag me.
I don't think we need a image of Meri "soaking" in a tub. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for someone to say we need a picture of Meri soaking in a tub like Meri needs a wet bar.
Deletewhy do I think she did this picture deliberate?
Deletehmmmmmmmm, probably they scripted this in too...... I can just see
TLC:"Meri, if we were to give you your mansion, what will you require in it"
Meri: " nothing much, must have enough rooms for when the kids wants to visit"
TLC: " you already have that in your rented house, if budget was not an issue, what will you require in the house. Think as an entertainer, as you are the one who hold a lot of family affairs"
Meri: "well, I will require a larger entertainment area.."
TLC: "how about having a bar in it"
Meri: "yeah, that's not a bad idea....."
this whole thing shout SCRIPTED! just like those outrageous kids parties! TLS knew it would have people talking and watching! not to forget majority viewers are women, most of which are mothers - hence the anti-Meri vibe!
Goog one! HEE HEE HEE!!!!!
DeleteI just wanted to say in response to many of the other post in the first discussion for this episode.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Christine helping raise Janelle's children, I believe she did.
I agree! Who knows what Kody was doing at that time, but clearly Christine and Janelle were acting like the parents!
DeleteI agree. I have also noticed far less tension between Christine and Janelle than any one else on the show. On the couch interview they are also siting next to each other also usually. They also don't look like they are going to harm each other also.
DeleteI keep going back to what I have been reading in the book.
DeleteJanelle gives credit in the book to both Christine and Meri for staying home with the kids and home schooling them.
ReplyDeleteMeri is on my nerves, but in the past, even Janelle said that Meri's place was always the center of the family's gatherings because Meri enjoys that so much. I think she is 40 now and doesn't want another child, but she feels pressured and afraid to lose dill weed's affections entirely to Robyn, whom he favors and can give him his grubby little kids, as if what 16 isn't enough? YUCK.
DeleteI'm an anthropologist and teach about polygynous marriages (that's the correct term).
Deleteand do not forget that all the three women can still go for more kids if they so desire - so she has to get what she wants too.... not to say she is the oldest female of the bunch!
women her age are more into entertainment! they host tea parties, card parties .etc....etc.... she is at the age where a woman prides herself in her home! when her kids have left the house and it is just her... that is when you fill your house with friends.
DeleteWhile I see your points about Meri, it's my understanding that she has been exactly what she is now from the start. According to Janelle, she was cruel even before children came along. she claims to never have had a close relationship with the others until Robyn came along. Duh, you reap what you sow, Mare.
Meri totally uses her situation to manipulate the others and Kody enables her.
DeleteIf I understand correctly, sex is only for procreation in their religion.
DeletePlease post more and use a screen name, I'd really like to hear your opinion more often.
DeleteIn response to some of the posts above.
DeleteMy two cents.
DeleteAre they 'allowed' to have sex if not for the purpose of pro-creation.
DeleteMy parents could have stayed in their big 5 bedroom home after we all grew up and left - it was fully paid for after all - but they chose to downsize to a 2 bedroom bungalow. and trust me my mom - who is the president of the womans' club in their town as well as active in TWO church congregations - has no problems hosting parties with large turnouts - what I'm saying is Meri can have "pride in her home" without having 5 bedrooms and a ginormous mortgage and all that space to clean and take care of. But of course this is immaterial anyway, since we ALREADY know that they won't be moving into those houses.
Maybe she is just slowly gaining weight cause Kody is a chubby chaser and she needs to fit in?
ReplyDeleteShe is going to have a hard time catching up since the first three wives keep gaining weight. I wish they would get out of that situation. It would be so much healthier for them.
DeleteI REALLY doubt that Meri, or the other wives for that matter, are "purposely" gaining weight.
DeleteKodturds comment about I'm having more kids anyways no matter what you decide was probably about the most heartless, jackass, mean spirited commented that I have heard on the show EVER.
ReplyDeleteI hated that "I'm going to have more kids" line as well. I really felt bad for Meri. It is hard to understand why he does this to any of the wives. They have enough children.
DeleteI agree. I really dislike Kody.
DeleteShe stated last season that she's only interested in having a baby if it's her egg and Kody's sperm. Very clearly. Which of course kind of puts the lie on her "Logan is MY kid too" BS.
DeleteMy mouth dropped when he said that.
DeleteSorry, I don't know why my last comment typed up all weird. I'm on my cell phone so sorry about that plus all of the typos!
DeleteI agree with all who are posting about what Kody said about having more kids to Meri ('I'm having more kids')...it was extremely cruel and just rubbed salt in Meri's wound of not being able to have more kids....and I'm absolutely NOT a fan of Meri's, Kody's or any of the sister wives
Delete( I do like the kids, tho!! )
Just want to clarify for those that keep saying 'they have enough kids'...in Kody's mind, they don't....and most of us don't agree with that way of thinking, but he is sticking to his religious beliefs that say he must keep procreating to fill up his 'planet'....and yes, I realize that it's weird and creepy, but that is what he and the wives believe...that's why this is a tough decision for Meri....but I do think she will not go ahead with trying to have another baby.....
DeleteWith a father saying things like that ON camera imagine what he says off.
DeleteFew questions.
ReplyDelete4 new homes 4 new cars/vans 2 new babies
3 more kids + nanny to feed (Robyn's litter)
and NOBODY has a full time job.
DeleteI tend to agree, yet, she is there much of the time, long before they showed her. I don't think Robyn would DARE bring in someone prettier and younger than her for Kodster.
DeleteAccording to their facebook pages, she isn't there now and hasn't been for a while. Robyn's mom posted something yesterday thanking her for watching one of her other kids (grandkids?) so she (Robyn's mom) and stepdad Paul could "head down to visit Dayton." Nothing was said about Robyn's girls or Super Sol, just Dayton.
DeleteWhere is Dayton? Is he not living with Sobbin Robyn?
DeleteSO archergirl78 that would mean Robyn's recent post (earlier this month) that she was thankful her sister was around to watch Sol so she could get her nails done - do you think that was just a plant to get the wheels going..?
DeleteMeri should be ASHAMED of herself! I hope she cries real buckets of tears after each of these farces of a show are aired. The pure GREED and the ENTITLEMENT she displays are open-mouthed *gasp* worthy.
ReplyDeleteI hope the Dargers make them feel like failures.
DeleteLast night's ep - she must have been at graduations for her kids for Junior High previously - enough to know how it works, and they all work the same way - graduates called up a row at a time, in alphabetical order (usually the audience gets a program with all the names listed so they KNOW approximately when in the schedule their child will be called).
DeleteI'm not sure if anyone else noticed that Janelle told Madison to "shut up" when she started to say something to her about missing seeing Logan get his diploma. Not nice. Also, I felt it was manipulative and mean of Robyn to show up late. So Kody was more focused on worrying about her showing up than watching Logan. She could have had her sister watch Sol while she went with everyone else to the graduation.
DeleteHey, I've done that. I have a teen that is going to provoke me when she knows I am upset. Left alone, it will continue and rile others up to jibe. Not nice, no. Can I relate, yes. It shuts them up.
DeleteJanelle probably snapped at Madison because she was holding in all the frustration caused by her sister wives and Kodster... with Madison, her child, she could let out the anger.
DeleteI thought that it was said, that when it's one of the wives bday/anniversaries, kids bday or special events then Kody will "rearrange" his rotation accordingly. Guess that's true, unless it's his night w/ Robyn....Ughhhhh
ReplyDeleteDuring the scene at Janelle's house when she was telling Maddie to choose another skirt b/c her dad wouldn't like it, & Logans facial expressions to his mom saying that his dad wouldn't like it was pricesless...Lol
It was like a 'well it's not like he's hardly ever around anyways so why should it matter' look... Yay for Logan coming to his lil' sis defense :D
Noticed that too! Why should they care what he says? Ghost Dad? Janelle's kids stand up for her, and she doesn't mind bend them--I love that! She's a hot mess, but her kids are the most grounded.
DeleteI really like the way Maddie is being shown. :)
DeleteGo Maddie!!!
ReplyDeleteI really can't believe what an a$$ kody is.
Agreed about the auditorium!! As you fly into Vegas, you can clearly see it from the window of the plane!
DeleteI have been to Las Vegas several times and even I could find the building since like you said it is the biggest on the campus. It stands out. I think it was all written in as part of the episode. I wouldn't be surprised if Robin was sitting somewhere else in the stadium with the upcoming 5th wife, and only came down to the family after the director yelled action.
DeleteSharing a kitchen is abuse but sharing a husband is not?????? Hmmm that's some pretty messed up logic if you ask me.
DeleteI'm reading comments from other threads about Robyn possibly being pregnant. I was at the unlv panel and she was looking super stick thin. I don't think she's pregnant and if she is she couldn't have been more than 2-3 months back in Oct. she looked really tiny to me.
ReplyDeleteKoody best line of the show " I'm having more kids!"
ReplyDeleteTo his infertile wifey #1 -Anon 10:59pm
Regarding the preview for next week:
One of the Darger wifes mentioned not liking how the Browns have to wait until it's their night just to show affection to their husband.
DeleteI still think Joe Darger is hella creepy, but I am really looking forward to next week's episode, although I suspect we already saw the best bits in the 30 second or so promo teaser they aired last night.
DeleteLike a lot of people here, I respect the Dargers much more than I do the Browns (even though Joe kind of creeps me out).
DeleteI thought it was funny when Janelle was gushing all about & to the favorite teacher, Guido?? Saying ur a Rockstar in our house!! I loved that, esp that she said it in front of Kadouche.
ReplyDeleteLorraine says:
ReplyDeleteI still wonder why anyone thinks Janelle is intelligent????
DeletePension? Striking matches on marshmallows impossible that Meri has one. She only worked part-time in Utah. She's just a taker, from what I've seen.
It makes me hurl when he and Meri call each other "lover." So gross.
DeleteIMO Janelle is a victim of religious bondage and probably thought if she was good enough and waited long enough, God would fix the problems.
Why would Meri have a pension? She's never worked steadily at one job for any measurable amount of time. According to one source, the most she's earned in a month was $600. Even the job she had in S1 was only part time.
DeleteJanelle has major self esteem issues IMO - been there.
Delete1-5 can be all laid at the doorstep of their chosen religion - as to why she's FLDS I'll never fully understand it but many bright people find religion fulfils a need in them.
Delete6 - I disagree.
Delete@Anne
ReplyDeleteI also wonder about that division.........
Here is my take on Meri and having another baby:
ReplyDeleteRobin is pretty much keeping her womb on hold until Meri makes a decision.
DeleteIt's obvious that Meri does not want another kid, but she's afraid to say it to Kody because that will be the end of her hold on him.
DeleteWTF is it with Meri and her obsession with WET BARS!!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteIs she a closet alcoholic or something?
ReplyDeleteIn Vegas all high school graduations are held at Thomas & Mack. The high schools are overpopulated and the high school gyms can not hold all the families. My graduating class in '03 had over 1700 students.
DeleteWelllllllll,
ReplyDeleteMeri dear, you know as well as all of the viewers that you are not going for the invitro because you are menopausal.
And Robyn. Give me a break!!!
To Anony 3:47a: As an anthropologist your summary is right on target.
ReplyDeleteI personally thought last nite's show very very boring and is quickly following
the Gosselin path, out of gas. Maybe we should all boycott future epis as they
appear to be on the IV baby route.
ReplyDeleteI've always liked Meri and still do.
ReplyDeleteErm, you are arguing with yourself here. On one hand you say that Meri feels a void at not having had more kids, on the other you say that the other wives are irresponsible for having so many. The other wives have six kids. Meri wanted eight.
DeleteI don't see how you can't see that Meri would have been far, far more reproductively irresponsible given half a chance, but her body let her down.
She's disgusting.
DeleteI have no idea how they can afford even one wet bar.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Robyn's kids, I didn't see them - were they in any scenes last night? I was wondering if their real father objected to them being on the show. Or maybe they were just off visiting him?
If you are an actual Mormon, in the mainstream LDS Church, then yes, adoption is highly promoted. The LDS even have their own adoption agency, and yes, it is believed that adopted children are no different eternally than biological children. As for the fundamentalists, who knows. But what birth mom would choose to place her child in that kind of a family?
DeleteYou have to pass a back ground and credit check, before you can even start the adoption process. The back ground check, I'm assuming they would pass. As for the credit check....... you all know the answer to that one. Also they do home studies before a child is even brought in. Polygamy is illegal. So to answer your question, no adoption is not an option for them.
DeleteAgree with you V. I have been through the adoption process, and it is no easy one. Parents with a child, as we were, are the least thought of, although it can happen, for they HAVE ONE where many others do not.
DeleteThere is no way they would even be considered without lying through a normal adoption agency, and have a feeling exposure would veer them away.
You can work around that. .
ReplyDeleteI feel the need to respectfully disagree with some of the things you posted, Anonymous 9:40 am....could you give me some examples how Kody has been wise...because I do not see any wisdom coming from Kody at all...I don't feel it's 'wise' of Kody and his wives to use and take advantage of the government (we as taxpayers) to help clothe, house and feed his kids when there are able bodied adults in the family who have shunned their responsibility for their own kids by not working....however, they definitely know how to 'work' the system and 'bleed the beast'....what is 'wise' about suddenly informing your whole family that they are up and moving to Las Vegas in a few days...for no good reason?? Because whatever Kody thought was happening (the police coming to get him to take him to jail) obviously wasn't....what is 'wise' about invading your children's privacy by having cameras in their faces to record things that they may be embarrassed about?? And what's wise about courting one woman while your 3rd 'wife' is in labor?? I could go on, but I'll stop while you think about some answers to those questions...
DeleteGosh Girls - lets be rea;istic here, how about rural acreage and four double wides
ReplyDeletesomethin that you can hang on to after the show.
This was really challenging to watch. The wheels are falling off. Maybe this isn't the last season after all. This is a hot mess, and it's really sad to watch.
ReplyDeleteKody bullying on modesty (WTF??? Only in Mexico I guess???), Meri bullying on the stoopid wet bar. Robyn passive aggressive bullying at graduation. These people all hate each other.
I'm not a Brown fan but I just had to chime in and say how much I liked the home movies in last nights episode. Those laughing, giggly toddlers were adorable. It was great to see them all so happy - I wish that was the Brown family we were seeing now.
ReplyDeleteMeri needs a wet bar like she needs another baby. Krody leaving to go find Robyn was ridiculous, like always.
Dear Sobbin' Robyn,
No one cares that you missed Logan's graduation.
Sincerely,
Everyone Else in the World (minus Krody).
I agree with Lorraine and have all along about Janelle. But I don't agree she is the biggest dimwit. They all are vying for that title. All of them are lacking functional IQ.
ReplyDeleteBut more to the point of where and what Sister Wives is now at this point as the new season gets under way....
DeleteAgain, I think Logan is done with the freak show and wants out.
Agree with you, DJ, on all points!!
DeleteAnd I will throw in the likehood that Taralyce, the sister stylist, is responsible for Sobbin's noticibly different make-up/eyebrow contouring from last season.
DeleteThe trip to Meri's sister's house was weird and contrived.
DeleteRobyn mentioned in one of the many interviews that her mom cut her out of her life when they first went public, out of concern for the rest of her family.
Deletein the last thread someone stated that Taralyce is the biological daughter of Robyn's step-dad and a different mother than Robyn's. So no, they are not blood related. Also, they stated that Taralyce's mom is currently separated from Robyn's step-dad. Seems like these plygs have just as much trouble staying married as monogs do! lol
DeleteI thought it was interesting that they seemed to have totally stopped discussing the surrogacy issue altogether, and now just are talking about deciding on IVF for Meri.
ReplyDeleteI think to the Browns, (or at least to Kody/Meri/Robyn who are the only three parties really involved in this issue) IVF and surrogacy are one and the same. To me "surrogate" is like the Baby M case - where the carrying mother is actually the bio mom, rather than an embryo transfer. My guess is that whatever they are referring to, they mean Meri's egg gets fertilized with Kody's sperm and then implanted into Robyn's womb.
Deleteewww i just got a squicky feeling reading that.
ewwww, so true!
DeleteOnly the Browns can take two different things then mess with the definitions.
ReplyDeleteWhat I didn’t like: any scene with Meri in it (seriously), the staged parent/teacher conference, the never-ending “will she or won’t she” thing about the baby (KODY: THE ANSWER IS NO), the housing discussions and the word “wetbar”.
DeleteI loved seeing the kids talk, too! I think Mykelti is quite serious about being a fashion designer - did you see all of those shoe designs on her wall? A person doesn't design that many shoes unless they love it. I think she's probably got a lot of clothing designs, too. I hope that she gets the chance to go to college and live her dream.
DeleteAspyn came across as reasonable about polygamy which was lovely
Hunter is awesome - I love that he's thinking about what to do with his future.
The kids are so much more interesting than the adults.
Janelle probably DID say the grad was going to be 'hours long.' Hint: Get a babysitter...
DeleteForgot to mention.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the "egg" was brilliant !! LOL
ReplyDeleteThis entire wife adding is merely Meri's way to dig at the others in a way that they cannot dig back.
ReplyDeleteIt sadly seems like that status change, plus his dubious celebrity, has made him even more lazy and entitled.
ReplyDeleteBellarina -- there's no room on the other thread to post, but thank you for answering my question about how polygamy fits into your life. I do think that polyamory is a completely different situation than polygamy, so it makes sense to me that your story would be so different than the Browns...as you all chose this, as opposed to having it thrust upon you by the happenstance of what a religion tells you.
ReplyDeleteWell I am a polygamist who practices polygamy in a polyamorous way..meaning that it's ethical and consenting. Just meant that not all polygamy is polyamorous, because not all polygamy is ethical (hello Browns) and consenting. But you're welcome- I'd rather people ask than just assume things.
DeleteBellarina,
DeleteI too want to thank you for your clarification on the previous page.
It is understandable that anyone in a non-religious plural marriage would resent how the Browns are tainting the whole concept by their actions and words.
I've personally come to this conclusion:
ReplyDeleteThe Browns knew from the GET GO the following:
DeleteSW is the first reality show I have really followed.
DeleteWhether or not the home building drama is fake, the emotions the wives are experiencing are definitely real.
The rest? Cwazy!
DeleteSobbin Robyn: How rude is it to PLAN to be late so that you walk in front of actual parents who are there to see their own child? How dumb are you not to find that huge center? You can see it clearly as a visitor just while you're going by doing the normal tourist stuff.
ReplyDeleteWhy did you bring Super Sol to the graduation?
Jerk!!
ReplyDeleteHe's also mentally abusive to Janelle and Christine (telling her he's not attracted to her and married her because she's poly royalty).
ReplyDeleteI have trouble sympathizing with any of the women because they choose to stay in this mess. I felt sorry for Jenelle for a while, but not anymore. If she can't see what a terrible life that is that's on her, I can't feel bad for someone that continuously makes the same mistakes.
ReplyDeleteI can understand to a degree why Christine puts up with it, and I see her as a simpleton to be honest and she doesn't know any better, has no formal education, no work experience, but Jenelle could actually make it, if she wanted to.
DeleteShe'd be better off without this deadweight.
DeleteChristine could do a lot of things, even with limited work experience and limited education. She doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to make it as a single mom.
DeleteSue for child support, she doesn't even have to get divorced, how convenient. It might not even be too financially different than now. Better yet, take the show solo, and that'll show them. Go out there and make it on your own! Sister Wives has legs as a show because these women can do it, and eventually someone is going to leave and thrive. I can't wait to see that part, and I hope it's Christine.
I'm sure they'll win child support if they wanted to, but the question remains, will Kody be able to actually PAY it??
DeleteI've been trying so hard to keep up with this blog, I love it. This is way off this topic, but did I read somewhere the Robyn changed Dayton (or Date-on, as Robyn calls him)name? When and why? Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteI think Janelle is the smartest one she held a good paying job before moving to Las Vegas. I don't care for Meri and Robyn they make me sick with their whining. Christine is my favorite. I hope all the children turn out well.
ReplyDeleteMeri has gone off the rails for sure.
ReplyDeleteWas anyone else laughing at the courses taught by the teachers the Brown's met?
DeleteAnd yes, I agree that one of the most health and fitness -challenged family in NV was asking how their kids could 'get ahead'. In PE? Seriously? Clearly Mariah going to every single class every single day thanks to her superlative mother didn't do much for her fitness level. Of course, I should say in the spare moments Mariah has when she takes a break from praying that her mom becomes pregnant. I am probably going to heck for that....oh well!
On the first page of comments, Big Mike says:
Delete"From what I can see from the teacher conferences is that it's a joke.
They should stop encouraging Meri to have another baby. She doesn't want one! She wants to focus on herself and her hobbies so leave her alone.
ReplyDeleteAll the others are hers, snark. Although maybe the older ones, don't believe the others are.
DeleteLook, mothers like me that have spread out kids know the older you are, the more it takes to get you going. After 34 years of parenting, I have 3 to go and EXCITED! Happily admit I have been lazier on the last 3. Just grateful they are my good eggs, for I don't have the fight in me to constantly correct.

DeleteI totally agree.
But I agree there are a few scenes where Robyn looks preggers-on the couch a definite pooch on her anorexic body, and when walking down to be the star of the graduation-
ReplyDeleteCould be TLC trickery to make us wonder, considering they are dragging out the IVF to NEXT SEASON, or Christmas. NO WOMAN would have to take two years to answer that question. NONE.
Many seem to have not enjoyed this epi. I thought it was hilarious! they show us that they are so dumb, they tell on themselves by their idiotic behavior.
ReplyDelete**Robyn, where's your other two kids at the grad., with the babysitter??????
Gosh - a fashion designer in the family!
Speaking of fashion design, Mormon layers, and such......
ReplyDeleteI know someone that is defiantly anorexic.
DeleteI don't always want to see the shape and form of their bodies, you know? I wish they'd actually show us the modesty they claim to have.
I don't understand how the Brown's can tweet in "real time" and also tweet about the current episode as if it too were "real time"? How do they not give away plot set ups when the teens are tweeting daily about real events. For all of them to keep their real lives apart from their phony TV lives on a daily basis requires due diligence, no? Diabolical if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand either. They don't live in reality, obviously.
DeleteMy favorite things from Sunday's episode...
ReplyDelete1.) Robchin's missing middle fingernail.
ReplyDelete"@carrie_linn: @LuvgvsUwngs And the extra room is perfect for business space!
DeleteAnd Meri does the shipping? No wonder the shipping costs are so high, Meri NEEDS that wet bar after all.
What shipping? That comment is SO TELLING! It's all about the tax write offs. It's a front of a business for tax advantages only. Typical FLDS scam.
DeleteThe Meri sobbing on Kody's shoulder was such a farce. He immediately looks at the camera and never once attempts to comfort her. Now, when Sobbing Robyn cries, he embraces her and rocks a little to comfort her. Heads up Meri, you've been replaced....better get on that finding another wifey for the husband so Robyn's position can be usurped.
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering what the adults do all day. Seriously, without jobs, let's say you're not on one of your silly vacations, what in the world do you do all day?
ReplyDeleteI enjoy a break from work just like the next guy, but to never go to work is beyond my understanding.
KWIM?
DeleteWell, from the looks of it, they sit quite a bit. Sit and stew about what they could add as a storyline. I don't know, but would assume it is more them than their "religion" that has got the group so entitled.
DeleteMy vision
Kody bouncing where he wants, wandering more into LV to look at the ladies, looking to see if they are looking at them (a song here) and going in and out of whatever homes he HAS to visit like WHEW, what a workday!!!!
Wetbar Weary (love that name!!), I chuckled out loud as I read what Christine dreams about!! Great post! :D
DeleteI loved the video of the teenagers when they were little having fun.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned this before but my comment did not get posted, but it bothers me that you call Robyns body "anorexic." Another poster said her body was "bony like a teenage boy." Just because someone is on the thin side does not make them anorexic or less womanly.
ReplyDeleteThey all need to be more womanly and woman up and leave! If my daughter or sister were in a "relationship" like this, I would consider it code red. Their eating habits are the least of their problems, obviously.
DeleteMister Sister,
DeleteI am a bit more sensitive to body talk because I worked for 10 years with girls who have eating disorders/body issues.
DeleteI had made some comments about the girls bodies, thought better and deleted them from my blog.
Lisa,
Deletefor me it was not that you didn't find her attractive (we all have our preferences and there is nothing at all wrong with that) it was more that her body being thin equated it being like a boy.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of that. It actually makes sense, as in complete and total selfishness, if you hear Kody arguing for the wet bar instead. So much for all sharing all the time. :O
DeleteYou are right.
DeleteA little off topic.
ReplyDeleteRe. the trip for the parent-teacher conferences---obvioiusly staged as there was not one other parent in sight.
ReplyDeleteThe teacher (Mguido12) already tweeted that it was not held at the High School. The Principal said no way to the crew on campus. They held the fake conferences at Las Vegas Day School.
DeleteI checked the assessor records, and all four lots (6-9) are pending offers. Each is the five-bedroom "Condor" plan. Maybe they managed to pull off the financing after all? Perhaps when Christine said they weren't living in the houses at the UNLV conference, she meant they weren't living in them yet?
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note - We can discuss, but no one POST the Actual address of the new homes, or the current ones. We do not want to publicly give out their address.
DeleteIf Robyn's sister is a beautician, perhaps she
ReplyDeletecan the others in on stylist haircut, coloring,
makeup - do something with that ugly long stringy
hair= guess it goes along with the jewelery.
I don't even know what to say, after watching last night. First off, Kody's new Dorthy Hamill looks worse than his old "do"...and I didn't think that was possible.
ReplyDeleteI always look for little signs in people, and watching Janelle cry at the graduation last night was very telling.
ReplyDeleteOne or more of the wives will leave Kody. The question will be, who? And will TLC help?
BakergirlOK -
ReplyDeleteWow. I just sent CJ a private email saying how funny it would be to compare them! Great minds think alike. Made him look fem.
Mister Sister, it was so distracting. I just sat there thinking how fluffy his new locks were. HAHA!
DeleteFor those who say these women should or will leave, I agree and I wish!
ReplyDeleteI just read that some of the Brown or Sullivan kids might be reading this blog.
DeleteIs it a known fact that they don't/didn't get these houses? Sorry, I'm a newbie to this (very entertaining) blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to go home and hold my breath until my husband knocks out a wall in our house and builds me a wet bar.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Dargers - I read their book, and I still feel residual chills up my spine when I think about it.
Kody says he will have more kids. BUT, do you think the reason Kody avoids Christine is because he is afraid she will get pregnant and he DOES NOT want more kids with HER?
ReplyDeleteThe wet bar is just a sink with a counter to place a buffet. You don't need to drink to have one.
ReplyDeleteIf they had picked a different building they would not be so limited in what options they can have.
ReplyDeleteIt just dawned on me!
Prediction: The wives; together will leave Kody. Now that would be a good show!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why they don't hold him down on shave off his locks. They are looking limpier than ever.
DeleteMost curious I am about why Robyn, who normally can't keep her mouth shout, has yet to voice her opinon on the whole "should meri get as big a house as the rest" question. She once explained where meri was coming from and where christine/janelle was coming from, but where is she coming from?? I can't help but think she is on team C/J here but is afraid to alienate her bff...
ReplyDeleteI agree with everybody on the equal sharing points, however I do see why it would be sad for Meri not to have a house that the whole family could visit at once. That would immidialtly exlude her from being hostess at anything. The wetbar thing is stupid. And ugly.
Robyn already tweeted that she sides with Meri.
DeleteI rewatched the episode this morning and Robin nodded ever so slightly and apparently sympathetically while Meri was talking about wanting a big house. Christine and Janelle just stared at Meri or straight into space.
DeleteSince Meri's house is the only one that will legally belong to Kody, I have to believe Kody wants it big and grand.
DeleteJust like most of you, I found the home video's of the teenagers as baby's quite enjoyable. I think it was very tactless of Kody to rob Janelle of a moment to be proud by attributing Logan's achievements to Christine. That was not the time or place for that comment.
ReplyDeleteRobyn just proved again that she is an absolute idiot.
ReplyDelete"October 21, 2012 2:06 PM
...They were truthful about that but the subject was changed REAL fast.
Deleteand now that I think more about it - as comments state that 1) there is a glut of homes on the market in LV currently and 2) they could find a different building/"cuddle sac" to live in if they can't get what they want...
ReplyDeleteanother theory:
They never intended to buy these homes to begin with, and/or knew full well they could never qualify.
Right now, it's like the freakin' "Truman Show" with all the Company signs, posters...I think product placement will be next.
DeleteI guess this means that if they didn't get the houses that they were expecting to be moved in by the end of the year, that Meri still doesn't have to make a "Baby decision". The deal was if I recall..."Meri you decide by the end of the year when we move into the houses"
DeleteSo...
ReplyDeleteThe parent teacher conferences WERE NOT HELD AT THEIR CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL. One if the teachers (mguido12) tweeted that they held it at "Las Vegas Day School.". This show is all lies.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, oooh, ooooh! I had a thought earlier today.
ReplyDeleteWe've all noticed how Meri refers to Kody as "Lover" in tweets, etc.
DeleteI think the word you're looking for is procreation.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else kind of get the idea maybe Meri has Kody by the balls because she is the first and only legal wife? Just wondering if that is the reason everyone is putting up with this nonsense. how selfish! also janelle works and makes babies. If anyone deserves more it's heer!
ReplyDeleteI think Janelle is done having children...because she is well aware she can't afford any more. I do not believe she was happy when Robin got pregnant in the middle of the Las Vegas upheaval.
ReplyDeleteIIRC, Christine gave birth the last time in the hospital because there were issues with the previous pregnancy (miscarriage related, maybe) and she felt safer in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteSecond, how can the Browns expect their children to have any sort of work ethic or want to go to school when the parents do little to display that themselves?
ReplyDeleteI used to really like Meri (like during season one). But my goodness! She couldn't be any whinier or boring now! I agree with the person on the other thread that said we should vote her off the show!
ReplyDeleteI don't think she wants another baby... if she did she wouldn't have a single doubt.
ReplyDeleteKodouche needs to go to Home Depot with some of his older kids and learn how to build MeanMeri her flipping wetbar...the project would be a chance for him to spend quality time with his kids. Of course since he would rather produce children than parent them, I'm guessing it's more convenient to just order up the super-sized house with wetbar included!
ReplyDeleteThese folks are warped...scripted or not, these adults have serious issues.
