hollywoodlife.com: Kody Brown: You Blew Off Wife #3 Christine’s Marriage Concerns

By Emily Morgan 7:52 PM EDT 05.14.2012

Kody Brown, when you married wife #4 Robyn, it understandably sent Christine into fits of jealousy. Now, you’re refusing to repair your relationship with Christine and that’s irresponsible!

Kody Brown, its bad enough that you feel entitled to have multiple wives and 17 kids, featuring them all on your TLC show, Sister Wives, which premiered last night, May 13. But, if you have taken on the responsibility of “marrying” and keeping four wives happy, then you can’t blithely blow off the deep marital concerns of one of your wives, like you did to Christine on the episode last night.

I felt sorry for Christine, who is the mother of six of your children, including baby Truely, just 2 years old. For many years, she was your newest and youngest wife. Who could blame her for being green with envy when she was pregnant with YOUR baby, while you were romancing and PDA-ing with a younger woman Robyn, who you then married just after Christine gave birth?

Instead of you focusing — as you should have — on the birth of little Truely and lavishing attention on Christine who was coping with her newborn, you took off on a two month honeymoon with Robyn. It’s a miracle that Christine didn’t throw in the towel on the Sister Wives.

On last night’s episode, Christine reveals that her marriage to Kody is in a bad way. They aren’t even working on it anymore. It’s at a standstill. And she is just hoping time will heal it.

Kody finally gives Christine a few minutes to talk, he looks like a school boy who has been misbehaving as he gives her a grin and says, “What are we going to work on? Communication?”

Christine replies to that setback, “It would be a good place to start.” Then when Kody accuses her of being afraid to spend time together, she admits her deepest and loneliest fear.

“I don’t think you want to be with me at all,” she says. It’s a real moment of truth. She feels abandoned by you, Kody.

Kody, you claim that you are excited to go to her house, to see her but then there is tension — hmmmmm. I wonder why? Is it about you bringing another woman into your life as a supplanter?

Christine points out, “You can’t wait until the last possible minute and then leave as fast as you can.” Instead of responding thoughtfully, Kody, you just start making excuses, “We’ve been busy a lot lately.”

Yes, Kody, of course you have been busy, you have four wives to take care of fiscally and emotionally and 17 children.

You decided that it was God’s mission for you to take that on.

But you willingly took it on and now Christine is hurting as any normal woman would who has to share her husband with three other wives — she feels neglected.

“But if we don’t work on our relationship and we just ignore each other and play on our phones when we are together….” Christine replies.

Kody, you can’t wait to end that minimal heart to heart, as soon as Christine admits to play the part in your marital issues, which is big of her, you do your mischievous littly boy jump hypen up thing.

You hop up, hug her , kiss her quickly, say I’m good, “I love you,” and then you just walk off and leave her devastated and hanging.

She and her marriage have been royally been blown off on cable tv.

Gee, Kody, have you ever wondered why all of your wives pooled their money to buy you a high powered gun for Xmas — is there a little hostility going on there?

  1. I'm confused, I thought Kody & Robyn's honeymoon was 11 days?? This says Kody took off on a TWO MONTH long honeymoon w/Robyn?!? Not that 11 days is any better since the other wives didn't get that much time.

    1. Maybe poetic license perhaps? But you're right; Kody and Robyn did not have a 2 month honeymoon.

      Delete
    2. I also think they were taking poetic license, showing how bad the lengthy honeymoon was when one wife just had a baby and had 5 other children.

I felt the lowest of the low was when Kody asked the doctor during Christine's delivery of Truley about possibly using artificial insemination on Meri. My thought was your wife is lying there in labor, hurting and struggling to give birth to this child and that's your concern?

      Delete
    3. I also think they were exaggerating here for the purpose of emphasis...BUT when you consider all that time Kody took off to visit Robyn when she lived 5 hours away, that probably added up to closer to 2 months! It still blows my mind that they felt it was appropriate to go on a 10 day honeymoon (as the 4th "marriage") and the other women had to stay behind and take care of Robyn's children!

    4. I don't think it was "poetic license". Hollywood Life has been called out before for stating things that happened in episodes that never happened. I stopped reading it because I thought the reviewer didn't really watch the episodes.

    5. This show is so one dimensional, you don't have to watch the entire episode to come to the same conclusions as this reviewer has. Kody acted like a jerk with Christine. In fact because he has 3 other women to run to, it doesn't surprise me he refused to discuss their problems. That's how the Kody Brown version of polygamy works apparently. Problem with wife? Punish her by spending as little time and attention with her as possible.

I remember reading a book excerpt from an FLDS wife who escaped. She said her husband would give his favorite wives plenty of money to run their households. The least favorite would have to beg for money just to clothe their children. Seems Kody is doing the same, only instead of money, its his time and attention he is denying Christine.

I noticed on twitter that Meri made a point of say her Christmas tradition of making pajamas for the children was still being celebrated, and will continue to be celebrated! That is such a slap in the face to Christine who had to give up her family tradition!

    6. I'm curious Anony 6:14pm, if Meri made pjs for everyone this past Christmas. I'm sure if she had, they would've had another pj parade again (eyes rolling)...I'm thinking who needs homemade pjs, when everyone got shiny new toys & trinkets? Plus, I remember on Twitter, fans asking Meri if she was making pjs & she said that she hadn't even started..& this was mid November, I think..it was pretty late, bcuz, I remember thinking, there's no way she can pull off that many pj's esp w/ her doing lots of traveling back & forth to Utah!
They'll probably be featuring her pj's in the Sister Wife's Closet, if they ever get it up & running...

    7. Hey CB,
I was checking twitter earlier and Meri did tweet on 5/13 that she made the pajamas this year: "For those of you wondering, yes, I did do the Christmas jammies this year. It's a tradition I don't think I'll ever get away from!"

Absolutely amazing how she can continue with her tradition but Christine couldn't.

    8. Oh ok...thanks for the update CJ :D ...Of course, she's the Queen Bee, (well, she's contending for that title w/ Robyn anyways..lol)..
I just wonder if she had Christine help her w/ the pj's?? Now that would be a total slap in the face! Ouch!!

  2. Thanks for finding this! It was pretty enlightening to see that when I voted in the poll 95.83% of people felt Kody blew Christine off. What amazed me is that 1.24% of people said NO he didn't! They must have been watching a different program than I watched.

I feel so sorry for Christine and she had to be humiliated when she saw that clip on TV of Kody blowing her off. All the kids are treated very poorly by Kody, but now her kids get to see their father on TV essentially telling their mom, "I bought you a ring, so we're good right?" Pathetic.

With all my heart I sincerely hope NONE of their children choose this lifestyle. Please kids, learn the mistakes your various mothers made when they got into this polygamous lifestyle! Please!

    3. I seen this story earlier, but I didn't even bother to vote(damn it..) ...but when U mentioned poll, I thought of what Robyn said in their book, that she really doesn't pay any attention to all the polls, blogs, etc....but I think she does, & that's why her lil feelings got hurt or else why even bother writing about it & publishing it?
Christine likes to believe that they have more positive feedback than negative, but I think they're all really only fooling themselves.

Thanks for the comment on the name! I picked it because I do live in sort of a "funky" town that took me a while to begin to love.

I agree with you about the wives believing they get more positive feedback than negative. It's just more of the stick their head in the sand way they run their lives.

I personally think Robyn reads everything she can find about the TV show and/or them because she seems too well informed NOT to be doing that!

    5. Seriously, there are many women STILL out there who have to shut their mouths and " deal with it ". I guess only those with a mind of their own and the ability to CONTROL their husband are on here!!!
Give those woman a break, did you not hear how Robyn was in a terrible marriage, Meri had her trouble before and it is just NOW that Janelle is experiencing something more than a business relationship with Kodi!!
So it is Christine's turn!! Suck up! She craves attention, she knew the possibility if more wives so too bad! You made your bed you chose your life!! I agree with Meri. Change yourself!

  3. All kidding aside...and frankly, the "kidding" is essentially a way here at SWB to support (inspire) these women from a distance to look at their lives...
Watching the dynamic with this cretin who impregnates woman after woman with little to no concern for their emotional health is appalling enough. But to watch him then cater to his ego and libido while his "wife" is giving birth or struggling with post-partum issues is/was heinous.

This guy is so slick...he does the Neanderthal/ caveman thing all fluffed up with an adolescent grin and a good-time charley attitude. He is a con man, through and through. No conscience, no scruples...with a trenched-in entitlement mindset that all of those women seem to readily accept.
It's sadly doubtful that any of them will ever stop the madness.

DO they EVER think about what their children are seeing??
Do they ever think about what kind of work ethic the boys especially are seeing to emulate??
Do they think about what their daughters are witnessing as to future expectations of dignity and integrity, let alone fidelity, from a mate??

The show is a billboard for how *not to live and to parent.*

    1. Amused I think you've said it all!
I think this is most likely the way all plural marriages go...badly and unfulfilled but these yahoos went on tv to dispell this "myth". Ha! They prove it, week by week, that there is no way Krody can or even feels the need to help a wife out of crisis. Probably that's supposed to be a SW role but reality is funny that way...religious doctrine or not, these women want a traditional role as a wife but they will never get it because there is a hierarchy whether they like it or not. Working on a troubled marriage takes commitment and time and if this wasn't on tv, she'd probably get the cold shoulder from her "husband" until she sucked it, looked "inward" and accepted her crappy plight.

    2. I agree, Amused very well said...
I think the Browns & Dargers are the exception, bcuz they're tryna be more modern, but doesn't that go against their beliefs as being too secular or worldly??
When you watch movies about Polygamy, they show a total different lifestyle then what were seeing w/ the Browns. All the women & girls are in long dresses(they sewed themselves),also, all the wives of the one man, are working together doing cooking, sewing, housework, yard work, etc... None of them have cell phones, cars, etc...all the secular things.

      Delete
    3. Let me tell you, there are PLENTY of modern plyg families hiding in every Mormon ward in the US. The Dargers and Browns are unique only because they have outed themselves. The FLDS prairie-dressed fundies are a novelty to Mormonism in much the same way the Amish are to Christianity. They make up a trace amount of the general population, but immediately come to mind because of how unique their lifestyle is. Polygamists are EVERYWHERE, blending in and living their lives privately.

    4. I can believe that, & that maybe true anony 1:38am, but they're not trying to bilk people out of their hard earned $$ with a chain of ever changing business ventures. Or I could be wrong, since MLM is huge in Utah & among the plygs...We visited Ashland, Ohio a couple of years ago & Amish is alive & well in that college town. It was odd to see them traveling in their horse drawn carriages among the cars going about their business. The amish, I seen, were parked in a grocery store lot... & while the wife was inside shopping the hubbyI assume) was chilling in the grass next to his buggy. I asked him if I could please take a pic of him, & he said sure of his horse & carriage. I did have chuckle a bit, but had to appreciate him being humble.. I saw other carriages while visiting the college campus w/ my son, so I snagged a few pics of traveling on the road.
Ashland University is AUB affiliated which I'm not in anyway, but its a D2 level college for sports & they offered my son a full ride football & academic scholarship, which is quite generous & I'm grateful for, since we live in Oklahoma. He accepted & signed w/ them in February...so after the Fall session begins, we'll be frequent visitors to various parts of Ohio.

  4. I don't believe that Kody "loves" Christine or Janelle in the husband wife way, there are many different kinds of love and I've often thought that with janelle its more of a "buddy" relationship, christine seems to be the strongest when it comes to her religion and beliefs and I think Kody was attracted to that, I think he kind of just went along with everything else to continue to add to the family, I don't feel he loves her like Meri or Robyn. I feel bad for Christine, to me she looks like a puppy that was left in the pen by herself and the others were taken out and loved! I can't take another freaking minute of Robyn crying! Is it just me? Does she annoy the heck out of anyone else with that crap and I think Meri loves her more then she does any of the other wives, weird.......

    1. No, it's not just you. I've never liked her, she's always seemed so fake and a major butt kisser!

      Delete
    2. I like how he kissed meri at Robyn's birth to cover up how much he blew off Christine.

I get that this is their religion, but I thought most religions were about your relationship with a diety/deities. Having a marriage practice at the center of the religion makes no sense.

      Delete
    3. Hmmmm..... Never thought of it that way. However, as non-LDS, I'd say that polygamy as a marriage practice is a PATH, not central.

      Delete
    4. I don't really like Robyn either. She's a conniving lil bitch, who's just along for the ride. Was looking for a way out of her past pathetic life. Of course, she's gonna latch on to anyone who came along, esp if he's willing to "marry" her w/ 3 kids, not to mention one who has aspergers. I still say she's a homewrecker...all of them have their own lil secrets w/ Kody & they've always said, that they're all honest & upfront w/ one another. Which is a crock of donkey doo!
I believe that Kody married Christine only bcuz of her connection to the history of polygamy. Her being the grandaugter of a "high & mighty" Allred, it was a way for Kody to establish a powerful bloodline to link w/ the name Brown. If U remember, the Brown's weren't really an established name in the underworld of Polygamy. I think he used her & now is basically done w/ her.
Christine has stated that she thought he was wrong for her, & wish she would've gone w/ her instinct, bcuz gut feelings are warnings that are usually spot on!
Now that her instincts have proved to be true, she should get out while she can! It's obvious she's a big romantic & longs to be romanced, passionate,etc...she deserves to be w/ a man in a monogamous relationship who will sweep her off her feet.
All the wives saying being in a monogamous relationship is boring, I say they're all babbling hogwash. If so, they all wouldn't turn to food for comfort, Meri wouldn't be such a bully & be pouting about spending NYE alone, Christine wouldn't have such sadness in her eyes & be in a depressed state, Janelle would have more life in her eyes, & Robyn wouldn't be a stepford wife...(I'm sure Robyn has to adjust to sharing a man, bcuz before she didn't have to share w/ 3 other women.

  5. I recall the episode where Christine was readying a nursery. Meri and Janelle helped her while Kody went off to have a date with Robyn. I felt angry!! If my husband and father of our baby did not help me prepare for baby's arrival I would have been hurt and insulted in addition to pissed off. Kody is gross and I wonder how he has brainwashed these four women into accepting this bu!!shit life with him. Seems they would be happier WITHOUT him around as then they would have zero expectations of time or commitment from a (fake/pretend) husband.

    4. Long hair on a man can be great IF he occasionally runs a comb through it once in awhile. Kody's hair regimen appears to consist of him running his hands through it every time he gets in front of a mirror. He always looks like he just rolled out of bed. ICK. Thank goodness none of his sons have followed suit.

  7. AHAHAHAHAHA!!! After SWB had checked out the TLC website and discovered that the new pics were focused all around Solomon, we let it be known that it was unfair to have so many of the worshiped son and yet none of Truely. After being bored to the extreme, i wandered on over to the TLC website today, and do you know what? MORE new pics mainly focused around Truely and more of Christines kids!!! Interesting....

    1. Whoohooo! That means some of what we're saying is getting through!

I too saw the TLC site and wondered why there were so few photos. In my opinion, I think there should be a photo of every child and every parent. If I were one of their children and saw just Solomon and Truley up there I would feel that no one thought I was important to the family.

    2. That is so sad that these idiots could not do that on their own! The couldn't be more obvious about reading here, lol. It's just pathetic that these low lives have to resort to reading a blog to know how to live life the right way & they still can't get it right!!

  8. Great article. A hard hitting piece, but I do miss the humor of Cynical Jinx because without her levity this is all so sad and abusive.

Amused and Retro Wifey...spot on with your comments.

The way Christine is being "handled" is just so mean. She gets told her religious beliefs are silly and her feelings of despair in her marriage are "stupid" according to Meri. Why is she being picked on? In past seasons I have enjoyed seeing her child like spirit and exuberance all be it delusional (IMO). I think she is terrific with the kids and is the most down to earth which I see as a truly devoted woman that is a living testament to her religion. I respected that she was the most religious and minded the reverence of the family. I can hear her say, "you can do better" scolding Kody.

But now with the new religion that Kody seems to change daily she is being relegated like "damaged goods". I guess in a religion that treat woman and children like chattel she has come up lame. "Christine's very different than she used to be...she has to own her own 'stuff'..." oh Kody did you think Christine would stay the sweet girlfriend that used to make you nauseous forever. (Despicable!)

Kody's dismissive behavior is not unique to Christine, he is so pathetic as a man. To refer to the kids as Christine's kids, Janelle's oldest, Meri's daughter...he doesn't even take literal responsibility for these children he has spawned. (SPAWN...a swarming brood; numerous progeny) perfect definition for his behavior not the children. The children are innocent and great.

After reviewing prior seasons on Netflix I think you can all take credit at SWB for the new and improved, styled sister wives. They look soooo much better than when the show first started. They all looked older than their years without make-up, bad hair and clothes from a yard sale. So TLC, if you are reading and we know you are, please help Christine get the counseling that would benefit her.

    1. I've thought about "Christine's kids", "Janelle's kids" and so on. To say "My children with Christine" seems odd. "Christine's and my children" while grammatically correct is awkward. I can't quite figure out what the best nomenclature is. Any suggestions out there on SWB?

      Delete
    2. The best nomenclature, in my opinion, is to say, my son/daughter X. Because if you are trying to give off this idea that these children are a product of all of them--Meri, I think remarked, about how all of kids see themselves has having 4 moms--so what should it really matter, who gave birth to which kid. Call them by their names and refer to them in the first person singular possessive, my... when talking about in generals.

      Delete
    3. That bugs me everytime he says Christine's kids, etc, he should just say my kids or our kids or even the kids when speaking about more than one. I sometimes seriously wonder if these are just actors.....bad ones, but actors. This 'family', the adults anyway, are so non believable.

      Delete
    4. How about when the nitwit looks at Solomon for the first time and says "he looks just like MY boys." WTF?

  9. Retro Wifey, I agree with you about the seemingly dynamics of the relationships: Janelle is the business minded person and Kody has admitted that she is like one of the guys, which when he said that, the camera flashed to Janelle and her face sort of did that betrayal of her holding a stiff upper lip; Christine is the stay at home mom who has made tending to the kids and keeping the food pantry stocked her contributions. I believe when he married Meri, he did love her but I think now they are just really good friends. And, I doubt that he even loves Robin in the same way that most men love their wives. I think he lusts for her and likes other men seeing him with her because in comparison to the other wives, she is somewhat hot...but her big chin and witch nose and no lips kind of make her not pretty at all. I think Kody on loves himself. I think he is so obsessed with his bleachy locks and keeping that "surfer dude" look that he is worse that Narcissius looking at himself in the lake: he is oblivious to anyone else to the point where he responds like an automotom, flips his hair, and runs out the door. He is so narcissistic that he cannot even be bothered to bond with his children unless they are his props for attention from the family, the camera, or the public. He is really sick.
I hold out hope that Christine will say, later dudes and leave; I also want to see Janelle leave because she is the one in this entire mess that has the most to contribute, but she has the least value to the family in terms of respect or worth.
Meri is just a passiveagressive bitch and I believe she is a closet homosexual. She is too involved in finding women to pimp to her man and she even walks like a man, so she may be gender confused and unable to deal with it so she just mistreats the other females.
Robyn is an opportunists; sort of like a viral infection. She watches what others do and like and changes her identity to assimilate thereby increasing her chance of survival. Notice how she has this relationship with Robyn--just saying.

  10. As with most 'reality' 'actuality' shows, I do not know how much is truth, how much is 'scripted' and how much is total bs....for ex.-why they went to vegas. On most interviews, the show and their FAITHFUL zombie followers-'The Browns had NO CHOICE. They lived in constant fear of being arrested, their family ripped apart and sent to different states and not being able to talk to each other'. Then, when being interviewed by Billy Bush, 'oh, that was ONE of the considerations, but the real reason was that KODY ALWAYS WANTED TO LIVE THERE'. Related to that and recently-' not even TLC knew that we were taking off and going toVegas'. Uhm, they were FILMING IT YOU IDIOTS!!!! (THEN, after all that, they have the nerve to ue the state of Utah for lose of income).

Anyhoo..... do we believe the show? or the Book on how they feel? They want you to buy the book, but the Exerpts make it seem like 5 different people then who are on the show.

Janelle, she does strike you as a strong person, but, if there was any truth in the 'flee of the night' ep. Janelle is an insecure person, a person who is a groupie, a needy person. Why would she marry her ex SIL's husband??? Fear of being alone? The UNKNOWN? If the book is true, sitting on a chair while K&M are under a blanket holding hands.. and worse, Kody saying 'we are buddies'. Did she become pregnant only because Kody was doing his 'husband' duties?

Christine-grabbed her pretty fast too... became the babysitter and feeder. and like Janelle, the breeder.

So, Meri, the legal, real wife. Janelle, the bread winner, Christine, the housekeeper.

and now the 5 of them, all have declared bankruptsy, 4 of them within the past 7 years, Janelle the only one past the 'screwed up credit dates'. Janelle saying that she and Kody used up all their pension money (which one would assume hers was a might bit bigger)..... so, although Las Vegas Nevada is the land of DEFAULTS, BANKRUPTSIES(should feel right at home), UNEMPLOYMENT, etc. with lots and lots of empties hoouses.... how in all that is holy... do they think they are going to get mortgages to BUILD 4 HOUSES???????????? Do they think TLC is going to come through on this????? OR, their MANUSCRIPT is going to be on the New York TIMES BEST SELLERS LIST for a year? Then They sell the movie rights for the book, and then the Movie is made starring Brad Pitt, Angelina as Meri, Jennifer Anniston as Chrstina, Rosie Odonnell as Jannell and Robyn being played by Miley Cyrus. The kids can be played by the Duggar kids-JimBob needs someway of support his family..... and then after making $100 mill on THAT MOVIE-there are the 15 sequals.... OF COURSE THIS IS ALL IN KODY'S small pea brained mind

    1. The only thing I dislike is your Duggar comment. He does support his family.

    2. I wonder about how true the show is too. Love the movie idea, too funny. But yeah, Duggars do support themselves. The only reality shows i have ever believed is The Osbournes and the Duggars. :-)

      Delete
    3. The Duggars are parents of the year AND employees of the year next to this crew. Not my cup of tea, especially for the older girls (ugh!), but they at least work and support themselves with something productive and seem to actually have a concrete religious belief that doesn't involve Christine's "church."

      Delete
    4. To MommaByrnes and Go Goji,
I live near the Duggars and see them around town a lot. In fact, I taught one of their relatives and have taught many people who are close friends of the Duggars. The Duggars are very hard workers and they are very trustworthy. I also don't agree with the older girls being so responsibile for the rest of the family, but I am the next to youngest of ten kids and my older sisters helped my mom take care of us younger kids. Likewise, I took care of my sisters' kids too. So, contributing to the family isn't such a bad thing. But the Browns, as far as I can tell, do not do anything to contribute to supporting themselves. They are poor managers and cannot keep their children cared for. You hear time and time again from their mouths that the mothers all coparent the children, but I don't see any one of the women going over and helping to try and teach Janelle how to manage her children or her household. I know if I let my kids run as wild as Janell's kids, my sisters would have staged an intervention (TLC, that might be your next angle...an intervention for the shitty mothers). My point is the Browns and Gosselins cannot even be put in the same category as the Duggars.

  11. Please. I'm ployamorous and Christine has a classic case of last partner syndrome. She was fine living with mulitple partners as long as she was the last one added. The other women all had to make the emotional tetris happen to make room for her to be added in, now she knows what it's like.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen this happen to people.

    1. That's interesting. I think this is where all of this delusion begins to fester, polygamy doesn't seem to foster the idea that wives will be catered to and loved in the manner 'we' think of love. It's roots are religious, not human supposedly. It doesn't matter if the woman is feeling like caca, her enlightenment is supposed to come by way of doing God's will.

Being polyamorous seems like it's much more genuine. There might be disappointments and feeling upset at being the last one..until another lover comes but the concept is clear. These people want to incorporate a monogamous style of relationship within the polyg relationship and I don't think it will ever work.

    2. At least with people who claim to be polyamorous, no matter how many people are in the relationship they are all assumed equal. Whereas in polygamy, the women are subservient to the men.

  12. Sorry to be off topic but there was a real estate question on the season premier thread regarding their homes...NOT

Since these homes (incomplete and lots) are still on the market as of 19 minutes ago, I don't think they have them "nailed down"

I'm in real estate and familiar with area as I have relatives that live in Vegas.

The houses the Brown's currently rent are valued at $130K-$150K. As everyone knows Vegas was hit really hard and real estate is very cheap.

The new unfinished home is listed at $446 thousand !!!! That's just one house. The picture of the house in episode is a 5 bed/ 4 bath home that is 4200+ sq. ft. The finish on these homes are not fancy, just above builder grade not custom and are considered mid range for gated communities in this area. Plus there is HOA fees to be paid per house, so yeah, this is a big step up for the Brown brood. But like I said they are still on the market...if you would like any more onfo., just let me know. Cynical Jinx, I can send the listing if you want.

    1. Very interesting !!! Thx, lisasumms!!

So....the featured house in last week's show is still listed at $446,000 and logically, the other comparable ones in that cul de sac would be in that $400 grand or more range too, one would presume.
Are these people complete idiots @!!!!!!!

      Or...
Are they comfortably sitting on a shitload of $$$$$ to even consider such a venture.
"Finite resources"...???? I don't think so, Janelle !!!

Not if you are angling for a TWO Million mortgage package to start up your private gated compound. Especially since none of you for the last year or so have had any viable, documented jobs other than whatever *advance* you may have gotten from the book publisher and of course, the TLC *pimping your family* paychecks....okay, add in the speaking gig fees too.
Your multi *going nowhere* bogus businesses don't count, other than to wonder where you even had the start-up $$ for them.

      But....four *new* houses =
HOA fees, down payments, closing costs, mortgage payments, furnishings for FOUR *large* houses...
Added to all the normal costs for housing, feeding, educating, and clothing SEVENTEEN children.

Also....which parent has med insurance to cover all of them???? I always have wondered about that?
Or...are some of them still on welfare rolls and getting free med assistance? (which means that we are paying for them)

Who paid for Robyn's midwife costs? Or was that person's services even yet another given perk for the midwife being on TV?

These people are disgusting.....career beggars and scammers...!!

Those poor kids!! What role models !!!

    2. Thanks so much!! Ah ha... I would be interested in seeing the listing, myself ;-)

    3. I have the feeling these homes are just a location for them to shoot bc they are still for sale and if you have qualified buyer in Vegas deals close fast. So season opener was recorded 5 months ago and they are a current listing and as of may 6th, Meri was still in her home because her car was in the driveway (the green convertible) so I'm just saying yet another line of BS scripted?

    4. Thanks lisasumms for the realty info...that's very interesting & yeah, seems a bit much for the Browns. But since this is their 3rd season, maybe they got a pay raise, & tend to use this TLC paycheck for the 4 homes? I just wonder if TLC, takes the $$ out of their agreed contract to pay for homes,etc..upfront?
Still that's not including all the fees, insurance, & yearly taxes which I'm sure he'll try to claim as a church, so they'll be exempt. What a freaking loser & yet the govt allows him to get away w/ all of this. I believe, its only a matter of time before their world comes crashing down. Maybe, & hopefully, Utah is putting together a case that will eventually & ultimately make the Browns be accountable. Polygamy set aside, they can get them for past tax evasion, tax, welfare & bankruptcy fraud!

      Delete
    5. So okay...certainly, the adults already were aware that they didn't have a hope in hell of getting these homes...yet they get the children's hopes up? Basically using them for drama purposes...with the snowflake kites...making it sound like they were a sure thing getting those houses...ugh.

    6. Perhaps the browns expected tlc to foot the bill and that didn't happen. It's hard to believe they'd have the credit or mortgages. They should in theory have the cash, but they probably want to fund more businesses instead.

  13. My goodness, give these people a break, could you slag them off any more?! No, their marriage is not a perfect one, is yours?! I very much doubt it, nobody's marriage is perfect. Why don't you try being less critical in your observations, it is afterall a "reality TV show," not a strict documentary, which means the facts are limited due to a thing called editing. Not only that, but as a watcher of the show, I have noticed that some of your information is incorrect... For example, Kody did not take Robyn on a "two month honeymoon." If you are going to blog about something, you really should work more at obtaining the facts or just stick to your opinions; and for goodness sake, please proof-read before you hit "post." I am not the grammarian about whom your mother warned you, but it's very distracting to read, well anything really, with so many typos.

    1. Next time read the comments instead of ragging on the people on this blog. Especially the 1st one comment that mentions the 2 month honeymoon discrepancy. Since you're in a help mode, why don't you go and help the Kody fans on their facebook page. They can't spell and many of them don't understand how periods and commas work.

    2. I am not an administrator of this bog; nor am I a frequent poster, but. . . This article was taken from Hollywoodlife.com. The full citation is made right at the top of the page. Had you read the comments at all, you would have seen that it was noted as an error in the other website's article, and the comment was made that they have had other errors in the past. The whole point of this blog is being "critical in [our] observations" of the show. If you don't like it, you don't really have to read it.

(* afterall * is actually two words)

Limited facts???? ....Not sure what that means.
Shouldn't a "reality show" be even more "real?"

And for the record, "strict documentaries" have to be edited too.

Also, SWB is not the only blog on the internet that expresses these feelings or opinions about the Browns. Maybe U should visit TWOP, Radar On Line, Bonnie says, etc....not only does the articles express a not so Kody friendly vibe, but so does most of the commenters as well!

    7. The poster cannot be Robyn. As much as I found the poster's comment to be off-putting, the comment was far too articulate to be Robyn. The poster clearly has fully grown frontal lobes, whereas Robyn does not possess any fully grown lobes.

Dear poster, please note that while the show may be edited, one cannot edit IN something that did not occur. I agree that the show can be edited in such a way to misconstrue a situation by failing to show the complete context; however, the statements themselves stand alone in that they are accurate reflections of the actual words said by the declaring person. Direct quotations are absolutely fair game for criticism. Either the show accurately reflects their situations or the Browns are accepting TLC money while allowing a misrepresentation of their lives. If the show is an accurate portrayal of their lives, the criticism posted on this blog is quite justified. If the show does not accurately portray their lives, then the Browns are not only being untruthful with the viewers but are also betraying their very faith by perpetrating a false (and rather pathetic) representation of polygamous marriage. I have found the people who comment on this blog to be very insightful and articulate. Finally, it is a pity you haven't learned the proper use of a semi-colon. I AM the grammarian about whom your mother warned you, but my mother raised me to be respectful to others; therefore, I do not feel the need to comment on anyone else's grammar or punctuation. I am also enlightened enough to realize that some people choose to speak or write in the vernacular rather than strictly adhere to rules of grammar and punctuation when engaging in friendly banter. I myself often post in the vernacular rather than writing a condescendingly erudite post in an attempt to appear haughtily intelligent.

    9. Ok so first of all, the blog didn't write the article, we're all just commenting on it. And second, if you're so concerned about obtaining facts, why don't you do some research on the many bankruptcies, and uses of welfare and food stamps that this perfectly self sustaining, functioning family has in their past? Or are you giving them a pass since this isn't a strict documentary? There's so much educating you need on this "family" but unfortunately I don't have time to do it because I have a date with the grammarian my mother warned me about.

  14. Kody always wanted to move to Vegas...of course he did! Look at the eye candy he gets now! His relationships seem to based purely on his selfish lust and this is being factually proven with each SW episode. I still say they could have worked this polygamous marriage out if he hadn't had a midlife crisis (and TLC intervention) and decided to snare another "lover." The more wives he has, the less time he has to spend with each of them and I think he prefers it that way.

I call BS when Kody was asked if he ever wanted to spend more time with one wife over another and he said the hardest part was leaving each house - tsk tsk - Christine let THAT cat out of the bag now didn't she? She doesn't seem to think he has a problem scramming out of her house!

They keep saying they want people to "understand" but I say to the Brown's - "No - YOU need to understand this is NOT a healthy lifestyle for a.n.y.o.n.e. This "religion" you so freely choose to amend to your liking was founded by a man 200 years ago who probably had an overactive libido and magically received word that plural marriage was not only OK (he should have stopped at that) but encouraged to get to a higher afterlife --- I shake my head just thinking about that concept! This is only for women who have the lowest self esteem and the men who want sexual freedom. Once again, I call BS when they protest that he could just go to a prostitute but doesn't because he provides "emotional support" to all of them - tsk tsk again - not according to Christine! Plus, prostitutes cost money. Just sayin...

  15. I remember when they tried to buy homes before they rented. For those prices ($150,000 or less) and they can't qualify?! Yikes! They must have terrible credit. I can't believe they couldn't qualify for $150 times four on TLC's salary? Hmmm. Also, they are the world's biggest business idiots. On Facebook Robyn posted that the "gym investor" "wanted something different" so he pulled out. She said they are still hoping to get a new investor (sucker!). They are willing to take anyone else's HARD EARNED money for their vacations galore.
Also, Janelle is now a featured poster on Losing in Vegas" blog. Yikes. I would feel too much pressure to blog for a weightloss website. I guess she really plans to lose it and keep it off. Good for her! I still like her despite her devotion to the sperminator. He is after all such a winner. So hard working and all. Remind me again what he works at? 4. I just remembered. Teresa G. not only has her cookbooks but she had an online store where you could buy the crap clothes and accessories her daughter's wear.

Here's a description from styleite.com "TG Fabulicious is New Jersey Housewife Teresa Giudice’s e-commerce shop. The products consist primarily of hair accessories modeled on her children along with some New Jersey and Italian pride t-shirts; a lucrative business endeavor, we’re sure."

Problem is...TGFabulicious is no more. The link referenced by styleite.com (tgfabulicious.com/aboutus/asp) is now deader than a door nail. Doing a little more searching I found a wpix.com article that confirmed what I thought had happened: Giudice tried to file for bankruptcy protection but attempted to hide assets, including $100K that was transferred into her online store checking account several months after she/her husband Joe filed (claiming no assets). In order to avoid being convicted of bankruptcy fraud, she had to close the store -she dropped trying to file bankruptcy and opted to pay back her creditors which is why she's probably considered the hardest working real housewife (outside of Bethenny and Vickie) in the franchise. I don't think a week goes by without her making a book appearance somewhere, not to mention being on Celebrity Apprentice this season.

So if you're reading this, Robyn and Kody, take heed what happened to Teresa and learn from it.

  20. Dear Christine, I agree you need to own your stuff and recognize you are not the person you used to be when Kody fell for you. When you met him, you were young, full of conviction and hope about your future as a third wife, and eager to carve out your role in his home. Now, you have six children you are largely raising by yourself and a man who doesn't care to take the time to see who you really are ... Much less attempt to meet your needs. Please own your stuff that you are stifling your soul and allowing this man to set your worth in this world. Own your stuff that maybe you were naive and young and that life with this family is not turning out how you planned. Own your stuff that maybe you have mislabeled the rest of us as "sharks" and assumed that you cannot find God as powerfully at work in the rest of us as He is in the AUB. Own your stuff that it is time to be realistic about where this marriage is heading for you and what your life will be like in 20 years if you don't make a change. You have everything you need already within you. Seize this opportunity TLC is giving you to change your life. You are not a failure ... Become the strong, capable woman you already are.

  21. Just came across this blog, I have never watched Sister Wives and probably never will. However, I have opened my home to 4 young ladies who have left 2 different polygamist communities. Each of these girls has issues they have come out with. One of my girls has an abusive father and 180 siblings from 15 moms none of which were ever provided for by the father. I have 2 sisters who live with me and their mother was married to father for 15 years before the new wife was introduced, it caused mother great heart ache when wife 2 was introduced, the home was never the same. My last girl probably suffered the least as they seemed to have the best functioning family of all of them. The thing is you can't escape jealousy and envy in these marriages and families. As a facebook page called "polygamy what love is this" put it "In polygamy someone always loses, there is no equality. - EVER!"

That has always baffled me why families would bring in a new wife after a long period of time, esp 15+ yrs. So, yeah, I can imagine all of the heartache, heartbreak, envy, & jealousy that goes along w/ this degrading lifestyle.
I think Christine has thought about leaving, but is too scared to leave bcuz she has always been a homemaker & babysitter for the wives. I'm not sure the level of her education, but she has no prior work experience, so would be concerned about providing for her & her 6 kids.

    2. Very interesting, anon. Would love to hear more from you. 180 siblings from 15 women, and a man who never provided for any of them! I'd like to know how they provided for themselves. That 12 kids each and it would be very difficult to earn a good enough living while pregnant on average 12 times to provide for your own household. That is really remarkable. Can you give more infomation on this?

I also wondered about the woman who was married for 15 years before the second wife came along. Isn't it Kody's father who came to polygamy after Kody was grown and ended up with Janelle's mother? I think Kody's real mother had a problem with it. The women get along well now but I think they said it was hard. His dad isn't well at all now. Maybe that's when they begin getting along better.

I stil don't see any the spiritual connection or family connection with sister wives. Why even pretend it exists when it doesn't. That is supposed to be a real advantage and blessing in Fundy thought but so far I haven't seen it. BTW I saw the Dargers were on Dr Drew on HLN last night. I didn't watch because I abhor both Drew and the Dargers.

    1. Laurie,

      I respect your opinion.

Mister Sister and I met on the TWOP board a year ago. In case you aren't aware, that board is not only moderated, they have strict rules in place. For example, your comment above would warrant your being "warned" because it is "boards on boards" i.e., criticizing the commenters rather than discussing the "topic" which could only be the show Sister Wives. Not their tweets, or their book. Not their online store or what they said on facebook. No outside articles and heaven forbid if you link to another forum or blog.

Just the TV show. Period. And the Mod reminds everyone of this at the top of each and every page. Get too many warnings and you're banned.

Mister Sister saw how limiting TWOP could be, so she started this blog. I followed her, as well as others. This blog is not for everyone. And yes, I agree that the conversation can sometimes go into areas some may feel uncomfortable reading. But my point is, that's the way SWB has always been. I don't think of the conversations to be disrespectful. I think of the conversations here as being similar to sitting in a college dorm room having interesting, sometimes funny, thought provoking discussions with a group of diverse people about something we may have in common or not know. In this case, it is about the Browns, and their show, and what they tweet about, or say on facebook. What we see on their show and what we think or feel about it. If they can afford their houses, their many bankruptcies, etc etc...

Mister Sister and I wouldn't want this blog to be any other way. I am proud of this little blog, and the many people who take the time and interest to read and post their comments.

By the way, that twinge of embarrassment you feel, perhaps SWB is a "guilty pleasure" for you. Wikipedia defines a Guilty Pleasure as "something one enjoys and considers pleasurable despite feeling guilt for enjoying it. The 'guilt' involved is sometimes simply fear of others discovering one's lowbrow or otherwise embarrassing tastes."

It's ok to have guilty pleasures. TLC's Sister Wives is mine.

  23. laurie,

Speaking as just a member of this blog....hoping I am not over-stepping.

    Your thoughts are understood.
You're right, most folks personally do know someone who has crossed the line of society's mores. The difference may be that most folks do not continue to see that person they may know as "out there" either denying their actions or further profiting by them.
I think that this is *now* the flash point about the Browns for many posters. Their documented background is now public knowledge.

These adults would perhaps be better served to simply conduct their life choices in private, rather than to willing invite and entice public opinion. Public opinion is fraught with diversity and the more public one becomes, the greater the attention and potential for diverse opinions.

"This site started out as fun.. respectful people expressing themselves....lets try and get back to that. please."

Again, your thoughts are completely understandable and valid because they are *your opinion.*

Unfortunately, as time has passed, the "fun" has become less silly and innocent now that the Browns "reality" is ever more obvious.
And it is more obvious, more *out there,* by their choice.

How does one continue to simply giggle at a family of frustrated women and so many children of various ages, some of whom look so increasingly sad and dysfunctional as time has passed and the camera has recorded?

Absolutely, they have every right to do what they are doing...the show, the book, the businesses. They have every right to handle their financial obligations as they wanted.

Cynical Jinx is right...this blog is a realistic discussion that could and probably does take place in many other venues.

I am not embarrassed at all to be a member. I am grateful for the effort put forth by the administrators.
In fact I have steered others in my life who have expressed opinions about SW to check out SWB.

SWB may be hard-hitting at times, but it is paying attention to what the Browns are choosing to make public. It is following the vein of "reality."

Unfortunately, Sister Wives show is not a sit-com, created for laughs.
It may have been better if it had been.

Warm Regards to you too, laurie.

  25. I must have missed that CJ is kinder and gentler than the rest of us here!! lol (please don't change now Cj just to prove me wrong! ) oh well, if you find it's not fun for you any longer then you're free to move on. without a self-righteous lecture to everyone first. ;')

it was a pretty broad-brushed accusation to make without any specific "pushed the boundaries too far" examples given. i think the mods (which CJ is one) make the call on that before approving a post to begin with. so, Laurie, in other words - you're actually criticizing the mod's call for approving what offends you. ;')

  26. Couldn't say it better, Cynical Jinx. I'd say we are more than fair, and I would say, this blog is for some, not for others. Do not critize another posters' opinion. I have said this many, many times. Cynical Jinx has completely outlined our "rules" about respecting others.
And Laurie- you are so right, this is not a sit-com. This is a large group of people trying to get the laws changed. Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture.

    1. True that. When you sue to legalize polygamy, you aren't just the Gosselins anymore.

    2. Mister Sister - i think you mean to say that "AMUSED" is right. She's actually the one responding and telling "Laurie " that "unfortunately, it's not a sitcom." ;') (great post, AMUSED!)

Thank you for this site, MS and CJ!! we can vent, learn and discuss about the train wreck of this polygamous family (and polygamy in general for that matter.) lots of sad dysfunction to talk about. we do try to look for the few sweet and upbeat moments and applaud them for sure when they happen. it seems like we're always rooting for the kids and still holding out hope for them. i'm not so optimistic for the wives' future happiness.

thanks to all the funny and informative comments here from all you posters! keep 'em coming! i've learned alot here. i learn nothing on the "everything's coming up roses" fan website except there's a line of women lined up begging to be Kody's 5th wife!! lol seriously??? scary!! so glad this site resonates with me over that one!!

  27. this family worked to the best that it could before Kody took Robyn on per Meri's personal search and blessing. Not even blaming Robyn for it as she's the only one whose life actually became better w/the union. So, good decision for her but so bad regarding the other 3 wives. It just ruined what was really running as a well-oiled machine for years despite its quirks. Now, it's a disaster and I don't know how it's going to get better.

I do actually feel the sorriest for Christine as it seems her whole identity was stripped away and she's still unrecovered from it. Insult to injury, gets no understanding from Kody about it either. He's happy, Robyn's happy - everyone should be happy!! Anyway, Christine signed up to be 3rd and final wife in her reality and that's the way it was for 17 years. and then, out of the blue - BAM!!! she never saw it coming and i think she's tried really hard and beat herself over her jealousy and anger/frustration ad nauseam and it's just not going to go away.

i wonder if they could all be honest if there was an anonymous vote taken (teens included) if it wouldn't overwhelmingly be a resounding vote of YES!!! to question , "if you could go back to the days of pre-Robyn and show - would you?"

  28. "This is a large group of people trying to get the laws changed. Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture."

    Exactly, Mister Sister !!!

And if SWB is predominately *looking at that big picture*...at the Browns' true agenda.....and SWB is raising questions and opinions....so be it !!

  29. This was a very subtle thing I noticed in the episode, but it definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

Christine and the wives are running around like crazy to prepare a meal for the whole family, and Kody had the nerve to shout out to Christine "Hey! I thought you were supposed to get the boys to do this!" As she's running in with groceries, then he proceeds to murmur something about having to work all by himself to shovel the snow from the driveway while he looks at her exasperated.

He's such a jerk! Does he not realize that HE is also the biological parent of Christine's boys? Is he so lazy and apt to be served that he literally can't ask the boys himself to help with the driveway? Why is that Christine's job?! He actually seemed so annoyed that he had to shovel the driveway... like he is adverse to pitching in with normal spousal duties...

    GRRRR KODY!

THANK YOU for posting my comment. i really thought it might not appear. I was desperately trying to be respectful of this blog, which i have been reading since the beginning and have commented.

  31. What I get mostly out of this blog is that we want the sister wives to know they don't have to live this way. I know they SAY they choose but if it based on the belief that they will suffer otherwise, then it's not really a choice. It does seem apparent they read this blog and the more times we can let them know they would have support & help and perhaps most importantly, NO SHAME, in realizing this lifestyle just didn't work out despite having given it their all. With this show is my fear that they won't be able to back pedal, so to speak, and rescind what they've been professing all this time. They may feel caught between a rock and a hard place. How can you suddenly say "I'm out of this "marriage" for xyz reasons" without it looking like they are hypocrites. This blog makes it clear to them that they WOULD be favorably looked upon and helped if they leave this family. My heart breaks for Christine, Janelle and their children. Bringing Robyn in was catastrophic to their dynamic which appeared to have been working.

  32. Therein lies the true inequality of this paternalistic form of polygamy. Christine is now in a struggling marriage with Kody 100% of the time. Kody is in a struggling marriage with Christine 25% of his time, and the other 75% of his time is spent with the more accommodating wives. Of course, he can't wait to get the hell away from her. He has three other women available to see to his connubial happiness while Christine has nothing for solace but her religion, a whole lot of children and uncomfortable relationships with 3 women who are her rivals. Having moved from Utah, she probably doesn't even have a nearby friend (outside of her marriage) on whom to vent.

Within their religious confines that make divorce anathema, he has very little incentive to do the work to make things better, and she has very little recourse if things don't get better.

  33. I haven't figured out how to actually sign in to show a name however, I've been following since post #1. I also watch SW as a quilty pleasure but always by the end of the program I feel so dumbed down and dirty that I have to come over here to get everything working properly again!! Lol

  34. So, on May 7th the Sister Wives tweeted/retweeted: Hey Las Vegas! Go to South Point Casino, Tues May 8th 12-8pm w/ your question for the Brown's & a Chance to be on #Sisterwives
Then on May 8th, Meri tweeted: Hey Las Vegas! Questions for the Brown's will be ending early tonight @5pm. Thanks to those of you who participated.

Whoa! Guess their turnout wasn't really all that great or why else, close down 3 hours early? Maybe Meri had a date night w/ Kody(eyes rolling) Or maybe because U were only allowed to ask 1 freaking question. They'll probably choose someone who asked a question, that they already have answered on national tv interviews. I don't think they'll let anyone on the show, who has a hard hitting question or that makes them feel uncomfortable.
Oh yeah, it appears that Meri is now following Christine on Twitter...lol

    1. LMAO! Actually that tweet came while the Browns were in New York. I totally agree with you. I think it was a case of people knowing or finding out the Browns weren't there, so people just didn't show up. I think it was kinda sneaky on TLC's and the Browns - the original tweet came from TLC on May 7th then the Browns started retweeting it.

    2. Wow!! That is pretty sneaky! Why would TLC even try to pull a stunt like that?? Ugghhhhhh!!!!

    3. Why would TLC even try to pull a stunt like that??

Maybe it was a last ditch effort to save a floundering franchise? Almost same thing happened with Becoming Sister Wives publisher Galaxy Books. They announced the Browns would be tweeting during the Sister Wives premiere. Galaxy Books even had the Browns' editor tweeting too. I don't have the numbers on the book, but if Anderson Cooper is giving away copies a week after the book went into stores...well...sounds to me like the book isn't doing too good. And isn't there some new giveaway now? And why aren't they doing book signings?

      Delete
    4. Yup!! I was wondering about the book nonexistent book signings too! Makes U wonder if there will be a 4th season...but in the past, when a few of us thought Season 3 wouldn't happen, they pull a magic turd outta of their asses! Voila, drama created for the cameras, only for all of them to backtrack & do damage control & appearing as a united front on Live Twitter & FB chats.(eyes rolling)

I love the way you think !!!! LOL

Yep, looks like the KodyWorld Circus is starting to show some empty seats. Definitely not good for business.

    6. Who releases a book and has no book signings? The Duggars signed at every church that would have them and were everywhere!

    7. Dog the bounty hunter had a book signing too.

  35. Wow! I feel so bad that Meri is giving Christine marriage advice, when Meri herself is so obviously unhappy. Maybe she should be listening to Christine's questions, and ask them of herself. No happy woman puts on such a tremendous amount of weight in such a relatively short amount of time without there being an underlying medical issue. If I were in her situation, I can certainly imagine myself turning to food for comfort on the three nights my husband is not with me at all, and possibly even the fourth night, when even though he is physically there, i can't be sure his focus is with me. I almost get the feeling that the wives are so desperate for a pat on the head from Cody that Meri served Robin up to him on a platter so Kodi would feel kindlier and grateful to Meri for the gift? And never once have I seen Kodi giving his children guidance or individual attention. I really think these women are convinced that their eternal salvation depends on this lifestyle, and if the endure faithfully they will get their reward. Other than that, I'm sure each one would really prefer to have their own true husband and co-parent for their children.

  36. So this Christine wife is beside herself with the situation with her poor excuse for a husband and she goes to the other wife Meri for advise and Meri tells Christine that is is basically her own fault and for her to snap out of it. REALLY?
This guy is a little punk. Did you see the disgusting pictures of him when he married the 1st and 2nd wife? Who the hell would marry him at all, he looks like a pre-teen who is confused about his sexuality. He is so spun on the new wife and Meri knows it and she is keeping her friends close, enemies closer. Robin is just in love with religion or something and talking to her is like talking to your hair. Let's see how she feels when #5 comes along
