  1. Does anyone know if there's a religious reason why none of the Browns have pierced ears? It's weird how they wear a lot of jewelry otherwise but never earrings.

    1. The only thing I could find is that in the LDS it is prohibited for a woman to have more than 1 piercing in EACH ear. So you can wear one hoop in each ear, but not two or more. I don't know why Kody's flock doesn't wear any ear rings.

      Delete
    2. The religion my mom was raised in didn't pierce ears either. My mom got hers done when she was 37. I think it had to do with the commandment about your body is a temple and keeping it holy. But I don't know if that's why the Browns do it.

      Delete
    3. I have read several places that AUB are not allowed any piercings at all (this in common with several more mainstream conservative Protestant churches) and this includes earrings of any type.

      Delete
    4. Isn't it strange what frivolous things they believe is holy? Now, my father didn't allow me to pierce my ears until my mom finally got him to give, at age 15 because of his religious beliefs. But then again, he didn't let me marry an old man, or have 3 wives, considering marriage to be holy. He also told me to abide by the law.

    5. I recently watched the first two episodes of season 1 and I am pretty sure I saw big hoop earrings in Robyn's ears. But, I could be mistaken. I tried to check real quick but Amazon isn't cooperating. I will try again tomorrow. I am not sure why she would wear them before but doesn't now. Strange!

      Delete
    6. Ok. I watched it again and Robyn is wearing hoop earrings. They aren't as big as I originally thought but they are there. I wonder why she doesn't wear any now. Does it have something to do with not being married at the time and now that she is married she can't anymore? Who knows!

      Delete
    7. maybe robyn was wearing them before but not now because she and Kody were married in the OB? Since she and DPJ were not married in the OB, she was probably not living "in Grace". maybe an AUB ex could comment.

  3. LOL love the shirt!

And YAY free discussion! :) Had an idea related to the Grodster up there. A while back, a forum I occasionally read/post on had a fundraiser to get the leader of Smash Mouth to eat 2 dozen eggs. I do not know about the genesis of this idea, but they ended up raising over $10000 in donations to charity (St Jude) when it was all over.

Why can't the internet force Kody to cut his hair in the same way? I don't see raising $10000 but frankly, what the heck else has he done for charity lately? (PS -- "Kody Brown's wallet and vacation fund" is NOT a charity!!!) Heck, I'd be in for $5.

Sorry, I know it's impractical. I just seriously hatehateHATE Kody's stupid hair and hair flips and overwhelming vanity in general.
I think he must have some weird variation of body dysmorphia where he sees some Brad Pitt super-stud when he looks in the mirror. Can someone who lives in LV do a drive-by Nair-ing or drop off a coupon for a GOOD barber at least?

  5. Which person is smartest, Christine (It is wrong to kiss a married man; it is o.k. to MARRY a married man), Meri (Wyoming is spelled with a Y), Janelle (I divorced my brother-in-law and my mom married my father-in-law), Robin (polygamy wears off all the rough spots and makes you better), Kody (My hair looks great like this), or Madison (I'm leaving when I turn 18 and not entering polygamy). You decide.

    1. Let's all hope Maddy writes a book about her family. I would actually pay to read THAT.

    2. Meri said it in one of the early shows when the whole family was traveling to the ranch and they stoped and posed for a picture.

      Delete
    3. Nope - wasn't Meri. It really was Robyn as a couple of others have correctly reported as well. We've always joked about it here from the beginning when it first aired and it was definitely Robyn. "OK, everybody make a Y for Yoming!!" yelled Robyn as she was taking the picture of the brood. ;')

      Delete
    4. You are so right! I guess I was thinking that it was Meri because she is the one who corrected Robyn. Guess I'll have to think of something else dumb that I can attribute to Meri. Shouldn't be too hard....

    5. well, how about her awkward answers to the fertility Dr. like "frequency isn't the problem" and "we're private and don't discuss our sex life" utter nonsense in that setting. Came across as hopelessly backward and ridiculously immature and the Dr.'s face was priceless at those answers to her questions. lol

  8. A KodyWorld observation....

    Wondering....
Does the Brown's *unique* version of their religion/Plyg life ban having pets??

With two of the households having 6 children each, and another one with 4 children, it is strange that none of them have any family pets? Kids and pets are a natural combo. Or have I missed something and there are pets??

Also, never thought about the lack of earrings.....but that one is strange too.

    No earrings
    No pets
No single-layer tops or visible upper arms for adult females.
    No common sense
No ethics, no integrity, no shame

    That's life in Kodyland.

    4. Thats exactly what i was thinking. I have now just watched the beginning episodes, and i can say they looked better then now. And what happen to Meri she was so small compared to now. I also think Robyn was the one that brought in her layering style into the family. The sister wifes must have thought how cool she looked, and didnt want to stay behind.

I also notice that they all looked young and stress free, now they all looked old, grumpy, sad, annoyed etc...

      Delete
    5. They do look very different. "The Layering" comes from their modesty religious beliefs.

      Delete
    6. I don't know about this. Have the Browns ever talked about a modest dress style because of their religious beliefs? I find it odd that Meri would wear the one piece swimming suit in Mexico if she have a conviction about modesty. Is this another classic example of how the Browns say something and do something else..This reminds me of one of my favorite quote "If the words I speak do not match my actions..then my words become lies and my actions reveal the truth."

      Delete
    7. Hi. Do you think maybe the tv promoters told Meri she would wear a swimsuit, and that was that... Probably a little politics involved in that show, the Mody-do may have been prearranged...

    1. I am reading it at the moment. Enlightening, but not in a good way. It does bare a remarkable similarity to the FDLS today. You can really see the hatred of the 'Gentiles' and the 'bleed the beast' mentality. I never thought Mormons were a 'cult' but the more I read of them and the fundies I realise what a 'cult' it is. I cannot imagine smart educated people believing all this junk professed and it saddens me that they think it is right. When reading about JS relvelations on plural wives, you can see how his mind is working (he is just a dirty adulterer) and the feelings the women felt them are the same raw emotions that women in polygamy are feeling today, in all polygamist cultures worldwide.

My husband thinks all my obsessions with different lifestyles/cultures is odd. I am genuinely interested in them, I just get really sad when I realize how oppressive so many are.

      Delete
    2. My husband keeps asking me if I want a sister wife! No way! I have been reading so much on Mormoms/Pologamy (in many cultures) and it really upsets me how people are living. What a sad situation they are in and many do not even know it. I never knew enough about the religion to call it a cult but the more I examine it the more I believe it is. I just finished reading Flora Jessups book and I can't imagine how the people in the FLDS survive. I am a new poster but have watched this blog for ages. You are doing such a great forum. I hope the children of SW do read this and learn that there is a whole world out here waiting for them outside of secrecy and lies.

    3. I told my husband that all I want is a maid to come once or twice a month. No "sister wife" needed ;)

      Delete
    4. LOL, YES -- my grandmother thinks I am crazy for keeping up with the show, although she has only ever seen the Browns on Oprah. Considering she was a cult member (not anything related to polygamy, it was more New-Age-y) for well over 30 years herself, she doesn't see the fascination people have with them. My husband also thinks its nuts although since I don't really "watch" it (no cable, just netflix), he isn't super bothered by it like I am.

Just curious, I wonder how much overlap there is with other "guilty pleasure" shows -- the other one I ALWAYS watch is Hoarders, and my husband hates that even more since I make him help me clean the house afterwards, haha.

    5. Read "The 19th Wife" by David Ebershoff. It's fiction but a good portion of the book is a recreation of a book actually written by Ann Eliza Young. She was a very vocal anti-polygamist once she left the lifestyle. *heart* that book so much. Also, the modern storyline in it is intriguing.

  12. My husband finds my recent(ish) obsessions with all kinds of Mormons (I use that to cover all the sub-groups, not just LDS) and polygamists in particular a little weird. On the other hand, I tend towards obsessive interests (they eventually pass, but I retain some interest and information, which comes in handy sometimes) and I am doing a Master's in Religious Science, so that's a justification of sorts.

I know pretty much all there is to know about the lead-up to the Third Crusade, the Canadian show Due South and the James Bond novels and early films. My first obsession was the French comic book series Asterix; I started on that when I was about five. Second of all, I'm just like you in that I go through these phases like conspiracy theories, (not that I believe, I just want to see what others think), the Amish, (I live in NW PA and we have a ton but I am still interested), religions of all kinds and too many to mention. My "perpetual fiance" just goes with the flow, as he clearly knows that my mind exited the building years ago. The dog was a border collie, like me, that I saw. If it was Meri's that's a shock because whenever I saw it, it was over at Chrisine's. We BC's are very smart, you know, so the dog was quite clever to split from Mad Meri.

  17. Ok Big love fans. I am on season 2 episode 6. Bill is having an affair with a waitress? so is he committing adultery? I though you can only date for a marriage.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yep, that's the idea. He also doesn't bother telling her that he's a polygamist. There were some aspects of the show I never quite bought, like Bill marrying a non-religious girl like Margene, or going after Ana the waitress. Say what you will about polygamists, you pretty much have to buy into the religion to become a sister wife. Also, the whole premise of the show bugged me. Having kicked him out, Roman's attempts to keep Bill close seemed like tempting fate. From what I understand, once you're out, you're out, if you're a guy. Then again, if Roman doesn't lend Bill money to save Barb, Bill never has to marry Nikki to seal the deal and the show never happens. In a lot of other respects, it seemed spot on, but there were times when it stretched believability a mite far.

      Delete
    2. I adore Margie. But I don't see her as someone a "believer" would marry. It must have been lust on his part. I think she wanted into the family b/c she has mommy issues and looks to Barb as a mom. Honestly, I like this show better than The Kody Brown Show. If I hadn't already been reading this blog and doing my own research. I know it's fiction but It covers a lot of issues that sisterwives don't.

      Delete
    3. Footupkodysass....yes it is adultery but...oh you will see ;) God how I miss Big Love! It was a great show! But again, Bill is a lot like Kody, self involved, self loving, self serving, selfish (are you seeing a pattern here?). Maybe the shows are trying to tell us that thats the key to a polygamist man...hes just got to think hes the best thing on earth since sliced bread and really believe and live it 100%.
I find myself every episode of both shows...at least once if not 50 times...saying out loud "what a douche!"

      Delete
    4. I am seeing a pattern and I noticed that are using a lot of the history from the fundy groups. I knew that Juniper Creek was the Aub. Roman Grant- Was Rulon Allred. And That Greene guy is Ervil Lebaron. I wish we could have a Big love discussion. lmao

      Delete
    5. The Greenes were freaks! Selma wearing men's suits and the other guy with the bowl hair cut. Takes a lot to make Roman Grant seem normal, and they had it.

Albie was really bizarre though. I think he was modeled after Warren Jeffs. Sad when he killed all the dogs.

      Delete
    6. Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!

Selma wearing men's suits --That's not the half of it, she was Hollis Green's wife AND Roman's sister, and Hollis always referred to her as his brother Selma. Creepy...

Albie was really bizarre though --I really started to like Albie towards the end. The relationship between his mother Adaleen, Nicki and Albie was one of the highlights of Big Love in my opinion. I liked Albie a lot more than Bill towards the end of the series.

Bill is a lot like Kody, self involved, self loving, self serving, selfish --Oh yes, but the creators of Big Love (Mark Olsen and Will Scheffer) were shocked to hear so many viewers were not sympathetic to Bill -- couldn't stand Bill or his autocratic manner. And they admit towards the end of the series, they had no clue where they were going with the family -- which in my opinion, directly led to the demise of the series when HBO finally pulled the plug. They tried to redeem Bill in the final episode, too little too late I say.

There were some aspects of the show I never quite bought, like Bill marrying a non-religious girl like Margene, -- (Shaking my head sadly oops smh) All I can say right now is, Margene, Margene, Margene...there's a reason she gets along so well with her bonus child Ben Henrickson...

      BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

    8. CJ - I felt so bad for Alby. Like you it was in Season 4 that my feelings changed for him. I sooooo wanted him to run away from the whole Juniper Creek scene and be happy in, say, San Francisco. :)

FUKA - HBO insinuated a Margene/Ben relationship throughout the series. It was, shall I say, exaggerated. To the max.

Not sure if you could pin Juniper Creek on AUB exactly. I believe Roman Grant was based on Rulon Jeffs,

      Delete
    9. DJ, This is FUKA, I went and made a profile. anyway I did read that it was based on The Jeffs family. But I seen SO many things with the Juniper Creek sect that reminded me of the AUB. The lawsuits against them, The threats against them from the Greene's and Roman being shot by Green's 2 wives made me think of Ervil Lebaron and the power struggle. That's what I was baseing this on

      Delete
    10. The factual events that are dramatized on the show are a thinly veiled mixture.

Hollis Greene is based LOOSELY on Ervil and the Greene's activties and personalities are based primarily on the Lebaron and Kingston Clans. These groups are so inbred. Many of the Allred's sisters were married off to other clans and vice-versa, as Selma had been. Example: as teenagers, Irene Spencer was married to Verlan Lebaron (who was already her brother-in-law), and Rebecca Kimball (who was married off to Robert Cleveland by Rulon Jeffs in the FLDS proper). Their mother was an Allred (Rulon and Owen's full-sister); their Father an "independent FLDS". They all switch women around.

Roman and the UAB are a real mixture of The Allred, Jeffs, Jessops Groups. The Henricksons family itself (and their friends) reflects the more liberal attitudes and lifestyle of the Centennial Park folks.

The shooting incident (of Roman, by Hollis' wives) was based on the Shooting of Rulon Allred (Christine's Grandfather)--not Rulon Jeffs by a couple of Ervil Lebaron's wives.

      Delete
    11. I thought it was an interesting, of odd, dichotomy. Hollis Greene was the worst kind of fundamentalist, but seemed to accept that one of his wives had a masculine gender identity ( I always thought Selma was FTM-transgendered). He seemed to accept it-Roman didn't (remember he made Selma wear a dress for Hollis and Kathy's forced marriage ceremony).

The same with Nikki-hardcore compound fundamentalist, but helped Ben and Sara with their relationship issues, SPOILER helped comfort Sara during her miscarage END SPOILER and was supportive of Alby coming out and leaving the compound. She even tried to talk about Alby being gay in a non-judmental context, but was stonewalled by Adaleen (who had Alby beaten when she found out he was hooking up with guys).

  18. Okay so I'm new to this blog, but love everything I have read so far :) One question that's been eating at me....Why in the world are they "buying" these giant homes that they obviously can't afford when they have 17 children that they claim they want to send to collage?!
This is the problem with "new money" they get a taste, go buck wild & loose it all in the end...happened to a few people I've known that have gotten multi million dollar settlements & now live in trailer parks.
"Old money" knows that that cash may not always be around so they pay with CASH (not credit!!!), invest smart, put away what they can and pay everything off 100% ASAP. I bought my lovely home on 10 acres last year...what do I owe? Not one dime! (and no, its not a mansion, but its all I need (and I can add what I want when i can afford it). I bought a brand new car last year...what do I owe? Again, not a dime! I spend $6000 a month on my credit card...what do I owe? NOTHING! What are my interest payments? NOTHING (because I only spend what I can pay every month)!
You've suddenly got money now, good for you...next up...Get a freakin brain Kody!!!...stop trying to show off and live within your means and SAVE for the future and for your CHILDREN! (Like my WONDERFUL parents did!) Otherwise your headed straight for the homeless shelters with all your wives and all your kids and no one will be watching or caring.

    1. I agree with you. I knew this woman who won a multi-million dollar settlement. The attorneys for the losing side wanted to set up separate trusts for her small child and her husband, as well as paying her settlement in annuity payments (substantial payments, I might add, more than she made working)once a year for 30 years. Even her attorneys agreed it was fair. Well, she refused it...she wanted all the money up front, using the reasoning it was her money not anyone elses. To make a long story short, she blew a big chunk of money buying houses and luxury cars for herself and relatives. A couple of years later, she decided to invest in a bar (strange because she was an alcoholic) for a ridiculous amount of money and no experience. Almost all of her friends tried to reason with her -- my point was if the bar was such a money maker why was the owner selling? She still didn't listen and sank the last of her settlement into a dive bar in the wrong side of town. A few years after that, she was flat broke again, a drunk, looking for a job. What was sad about this was her child had nothing, the thought never crossed her mind to set up some kind of trust for him. And the husband was long gone.

So I have to agree with you. Kody is acting as if he is entitled to have the biggest houses, the guns, the cars without a thought on being responsible -- just like a kid in a candy shop! To be fair, he may have put aside money for the children to go to college. But the image he's projecting on his tv show is definitely one of spending money hand over fist for his business ventures (yeah I think he has sunk a lot of money into that Liv stuff to qualify for that company car), presents for himself and costly living arrangements for his 4 wives and their families. In a few years he'll be back in Wyoming, living on his father's ranch in broken down double wides, I'm sure.

    2. I've asked my husband if he ever wished he could have two wives and he was horrified. When a friend of mine came to visit us, I realised why. Usually, he spoils me rotten, bringing me drinks and making food (look, I don't know what purpose I serve in our household or why he married me, either) and things. When she was there, he tried to put her first because she was the guest, but even then, the pressure of treating us equally nice was clearly getting to the poor man.
Let's face it, more or less all the married women here have husbands who are decent men or we wouldn't stay with them. A decent man doesn't want two wives, because he knows it's not fair.
I understand parents can love more than one kid, but wives aren't kids. Also, I used to have two dogs and always felt I was neglecting one when I paid attention to the other.
If you live polygamy and you're a decent man, it will run you ragged and tear you apart. If you're a b*stard to begin with, it makes you worse, because you have all the power.
Seriously, has anyone on this blog EVER asked a man in their life if they wanted to be a polygamist and got an affirmative answer? If so, please let us know, because that would really intrigue me.

    3. I personally don't know of a woman who's done that, but I myself am a man who's curious about polygyny since I started watching the show on Netflix (though I'm still fairly young, 22, and haven't had my first wife yet, so we'll see what I think later) and I find the pros. vs. cons. of the lifestyle interesting.

Personally, I don't see how anyone can have a family as big as the Brown Family and spend as much money as they do.

On the other hand, for a guy with a high sex drive it might make some sense. The logistics of a second wife can also be good. While the husband and one of the wives works, the second wife can be a homemaker and do the cleaning, cooking, and raising the children of both of the wives. It is probably more expensive than paying separately for a housekeeping maid to come in occasionally and for daycare, but it does make some sense, especially if you believe it is best for children to be raised around the family during the day. Also, having two people working and paying for one other adult and more kids is probably more financially sound than one person working and one spouse dependent on that income and all of her kids. Let's face it, few families have one person making a high enough income anymore for that kind of 1950's lifestyle to be feasible.

Since I personally have a high sex drive and would like my kids to be raised in the home by family members and don't particularly want to pay a strange person to come in and clean and I personally don't like cleaning or cooking very much and wouldn't want a wife who's working as hard as I am to do these things, this two-wife idea makes some sense. However, I can't see myself wanting more than two or perhaps three wives at the most (in that case two working and one at home), and I'd want no more than at total of five kids max, and probably less than that. I would probably feel exhausted having to deal with the emotions of four wives even if sexually I was able to keep up and having that many kids would be exhausting as well and forces one to spend more on everything, not just food and clothes but more and larger cars (the Brown family needs a caravan of four or five cars to get anywhere as a family) and I can't imagine what they will do now that they are going to have several teenagers going to college. The Brown Family seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Too many wives, too many kids, too much spending, and not enough good jobs.

I also would never buy a $60,000 car for myself or go on as many vacations as they go on. Of course if my first wife said no I wouldn't push it, but the thought does intrigue me. It is interesting that with this being the main site for people, fans and otherwise, more don't seem to want polygamous relationships of any kind for themselves.

Interestingly enough there was a psychological study mentioned in an article I read in which a majority of men thought that having multiple wives would be ideal and most men who were already in polygynous relationships liked it, but most women who were in polyandrous relationships or who were asked about them thought it was/would be exhausting. Not sure if it was just about sex, or the whole relationship though.

    4. @Chris Brown - you are still very young so of COURSE you have a high sex drive! LOL. My advice to you would be to wait to get married until you find the right person that you feel like you want to spend the rest of your life with. There is no way I, personally, could live with the ensuing jealousy that being in a poly relationship is almost certain to guarantee. IMO of course.

Trust me - as you get older, "gettin' some" will become less important in your life.

    5. I was going to say the same thing! Chris, the logistics of a 2 parent working family can be just fine. Enjoy your youth now and don't worry about these things. You'll discover along the way how to sort them out.

  20. I believe that Janelle, christine, Meri and even Robyn would be happier if Kody was a different type of man. A man who would work every hour god sent him to provide for his family. A man who listened to his wives and spent more time being a hands on parent. Kody is not equipped emotionally, financially or mentally to handle 4 wives and 17 children.

I have metastatic breast cancer, which is breast cancer that has spread outside the breast. In my case, it lives in my sternum and I'm very lucky because it's stayed stable for 6 years now. I am a moderator on a message board for other young women with metastatic breast cancer.

I've watched my friends - women who developed stage iv breast cancer before 40 - sicken and die from this damn disease. Over and over and over; in the last three years, about 25 have died. Two died in the last month.

Coming here to talk about nothing is a way to help deal with the overwhelming grief that I feel. The Browns put themselves out there; with that comes attention and criticism. And sometimes talking about nothing - and that's ok.

It was Mariahs birthday yesterday (I think) and Meri tweeted all day about how SHE was going to jump off some cliff or something...it was all about HER experience but apparently this was done for Mariah's birthday. Also of note is that both Meri and Kody tweeted Happy Birthday to Mariah but none of the other sisterwives did and I don't think her siblings did either....so what's up with that? Robyn did tweet about Sol loving Jewel's cds to help him fall asleep. I just find their tweets and lack thereof very interesting and I think it gives us more clues than they think. Thoughts anyone?

    1. I've been trying to keep up, but they have been so uninteresting lately. I was thinking they were doing it on purpose, trying to foil our dear friend Lourdes Ritz-Carlton! (those ingrates!)

Anyway, I did see a something from LIV (I think on their FB page) that talked about using twitter to further business contacts. I've also heard thru the grapevine that there hasn't been one of those wives chats on their friend only FB for months now, and that the admins keep promising next week next week, but nothing ever happens. It seems really morose in the Brown's social media land.

I too am wondering, What's up?

Then my next guess is that things may not be all that rosy with the Browns. They try to maintain such a saccharine image, but I think a lot fewer people are buying it after the "tell all special" and as other inconsistencies come to light.

Alternate surprise option: The Browns may have earned themselves a too-obsessed fan/stalker and are laying low on their activities to stay away from creeps?

  25. Thank you for the open discussion area, Mister Sister.

About a year ago, I caught the tail-end of a documentary on cable about an American polygamous family. I want to say they were in a Southern state...perhaps Texas? I don't know if they were Mormon, but they did not dress like they were LDS. It appeared that there were somewhat rural and did not live in a polygamist community.

Anyway, from the few minutes I watched, it appeared that a new woman "married" into the family, signed her assets over to them, and shortly after that they kicked her out, penniless. I'm pretty sure she either signed over her large house to them, or signed over enough money that the family bought a large house.

Did anyone else see this one, and have a name for it?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I remember seeing that, I believe it was in Texas. The woman joined the family but was not yet "married" into it. Went as far as getting a ring, at a pawnshop, but the other two wives vetoed the "marriage". As the woman was leaving and saying goodbye to the "distraught man", she mentioned to the cameraman that she lost a lot of money coming into the family. After she left, the guy went to play pool down at the local hangout if I remember correctly because he was upset with his other two wives vetoing the marriage. Oh yeah, the guy's son had mentioned he would not have more than one wife.

I need to see if I can find the name of that documentary somewhere.

    1. Oh yes, the Brian Wachtendorf family. The 3rd woman (Denise) was never a wife...the other 2 wives (Pam the legal one and Kathy #2)refused to allow her into the family. And yes, the 'family' did take money from her, and as Denise claimed, if it wasn't for her, the family would have lost their beautiful log cabin home.

Anyway, the 1st wife divorced him and the 2nd wife left him. Denise refuses to even speak about him. And Brian has remarried and no longer believes in polygamy. This guy also happens to be a psychologist.

Kody Brown and this guy could have been brothers, really. A lot of things Brian Wachtendorf did were very similar to Kody, except there was a harder, unlovable edge to him. I'll never forget when he took Denise to a pawn shop to pick out her wedding ring. It was just so awful. And when the 2 other wives got the courage to tell him, NO they did not want Denise to join the family, he just said OK, got up from the dinner table (yes, they were having dinner) I think he kissed Denise on the top of her head, left the room and that was that. Next scene was a crying Denise, recounting all the things she did for Brian, and his wives, and it was a lot.

  30. Love this blog! Started off totally liking the Browns at the advent of the show, but after reading about the bankruptcy background (with ACTUAL documents to back it up) on here, I started to see them for what they are. Since this is my first post, I'm going all out and including a couple of random moments from the show that stood out to me: Robyn's comment referencing her concerns before speaking at a college 'I thought they were going to be a bunch of feminists' wow, right then my opinion of Robyn plummeted. Oooo, look out for the crazy feminists who believe women should be allowed to vote and drive and own property. Robyn, you make me sick. I am a stay at home mom with three kids and not for one second do I consider myself anything other than a feminist. And a humanist.it's really the same thing. We are no more or less entitled or as valuable to society if we have (or don't have) parts in certain places. Another moment that boiled my blood was when Kody ate off his daughter's plate as she walked by (German white soupy stuff). A part of my mom heart twitched and died a little to see that scrawny looking girl with unbrushed hair look up at her potbellied ass of a father with that look...how do you describe it? Shock, like a startled puppy. I felt violated for that girl, b/c that food he scooped off her plate (without really even stopping) was a metaphor for love and attention, and not just physical sustenance that he so flippantly robbed her of. Anyway, end rant. Anyone else notice those moments/have the same thoughts?

  32. I needed a break from Big love. So I broke down and started to actually watch the Sister wives show. I am on Episode 2 of Season 1. So far what I have noticed since you are always saying how everything is about Kody. What I just noticed is how the women dress. It looks like they don't really have nice clothes. But if you look at how Kody dress's It looked like all the button down shirts he wears are all Ralph Lauren Polo. (I even seen him wear a pastel yellow one to do yardwork. And OMG! Does he really curl his hair?

    ReplyDelete
  33. To the point but oh well. Kody annoys the crap out of me. He is incredibly self absorbed, brash, and thinks he's the king of the world. His hair on its own would be bad enough but the way he swings it around grosses me out even more. Not to mention what dad of 16(?) kids drives a tiny sports car? Just plain selfish. At least Meri and Christine genuinely seem like good people. Too bad they were raised in this faith and completely brainwashed. Janelle seems nice too and a hard worker. Robyn though is just too much of a loser to have a normal life. She wants to be needed so bad and has such low self esteem that she drags her kids into this ridiculous circus. The dad of those kids should sue for custody...where is he? Kody is just a complete loser.

There actually is a part of me that hears their reasons for doing this and wants to be understanding and open minded (even though I don't agree and wouldn't choose the lifestyle for my myself). But by the same token its illegal, and they should respect the laws of this country if they want to keep living in it.

And Kody should be neutered and arrested. Pretty obvious how I feel about that freak. The final straw for me was when he reached over his moms shoulder and ate the breakfast burrito off her plate when they were at the ranch in Wyoming. Such a prick.

  34. My wife loves this show and I watch it because she watches my shows. I find most of what Kody says to be hypocritical arrogant and and self absorbed. In the opening of the show he says, " Love is ment to be multiplied...." I agree with him but his actions are the exact opposite. Kody is 1/4 of a husband to each wife. His love is divided among them. They are settleing for a fraction of a husband instead of having a complete one. But it's the children i feel for the most. Its hard for my wife and I to have time together alone at the end of the day as well as do everyhting we need to for our kids and spend time with them, we have two. There is not enough time in the day for Kody to spend quality or quantity time with all his kids. All of these people have settled for a part time husband father and its very sad. One last thing, whats with the culture of obesity in this family. The wives get bigger and bigger and so many of the kids... I feel for these women and the kids. They deserve better.
