"Sister Wives" People Changed, but Laws Did Not

"The Brown's discuss the importance of moving to avoid their kids living in fear"

Let's Discuss!! Got to get all the oldies in before Season 3 starts!!!! What do you think NOW time has passed, and we know what they were planning?

  1. When did the people change exactly? You stupidly put yourself out there for $$$. Was it worth it?

Like when Robyn tearfully said in another show, "This isn't the America I learned about in school." Really? you were hiding your identity then because your parents were breaking the law, so what's changed?

  2. I believe the Browns are confusing the public's warmth towards them as people with liking their behaviour. Some of them seem like nice people, even people I could be friends with, especially the Original Recipe wives. However, I could never approve of living the Principle of Plural Marriage, no matter how slickly it is packaged. It's foundations are oppressive and discriminatory and the potential for abuse in its practice are just too great. So, yeah, the laws haven't changed and thank heavens for that. I hope they don't.

  3. And, they didn't HAVE to move, they created the drama for the lawsuit, shamie. I fell that's a Kody doing. I like the "original" gals too.

  5. This really irked me. MSB, you are correct, they did not have to move - it was nothing more than trumped up drama. What really got me was what they did to their children - telling them they had to leave in 3 days and going out under the cover of darkness. Really? Really?

It showed me that Kody will pimp himself and his family out for a buck. I would love to be in a TLC brainstorming meeting and watch this doofus agreeing to hair-brain plots (yes, plots on a reality show).

You know one thing I have been curious about - Robyn's ex-husband. How did she manage to relocate their children so easily? Was there not a custody agreement? Did TLC pay off the domestic courts to make that petition fly through faster?

  6. People didn't change. They are a cult. We will not accommodate them.

  7. I have GOT to find the comment where FOF said in June they were up to something, and they WERE, I felt so fooled. Everything they say and do is calculated and for a purpose. I was their biggest supporter. SHAME ON THEM.

  8. You know, that was so planned that Christine said that. What about the other 30,000 or so families living in the same area. Are they living in fear?
The fear comes from breaking the law. Stp breaking the law, and you'll be fine.
I hope season three doesn't totally turn my stomach!

  9. This is such a crock. The Utah authorities have said over and over and over again that they will not go after any polygamists UNLESS there is evidence of abuse or fraud. So why were the Browns fearful?

What advantage would they gain from changing the law if they aren't being pursued by the law now ... and we know they are not because authorities have said so. Investigators always say "follow the money" and you will solve the case. What monetary advantage would the Browns and other polygamists gain from the decriminalization / legalization of polygamy? Tax breaks? They certainly could not continue their bankruptcy cycle as hiding assets would no longer be possible.

Help me out here folks. Let's "follow the money".

  10. Nevada's records are all online, I believe, so they can't hanky panky there.

  12. THEY changed, that's who. Exploiting their children, upheaveling their lives, all for Kody's glory. It's a sad pathetic situation, and I am just glad those girls have the T's "origional recipe" mothers, for without them, it would be a mess.
I think none of the original except Christine was into this. it's her mess, too, but I feel she's a great mom in some respects.

  13. People have changed? I STRONGLY urge anyone who has not seen "the veil of Polygamy" (here) to watch it. The women still feel the same. The must please the man to get to heaven, and who knows if it's ever enough. Sickening.

  14. I do, too. I think that's Meri's main problem, thinking she'll go to hell if she leaves. How horribly sad. Do you guys think that Janelle is really into the religion, or just liked Kody?
