In 2011, the Sister Wives Blog started out as a place to talk about the TLC reality show "Sister Wives", Kody Brown and his wives Christine, Robyn, Meri and Janelle. Today we not only discuss the show, we discuss Polygamy in our society, and the public perceptions of the Mormon Religion. We discuss "Polygamy USA" and will be covering "My 5 Wives."
This blog is geared towards the adult reader, so please, no one under the age of 18 years. Thank you!
I am trying to think of how they could have presented their case without using the language of polygamy marriage where it is a man with multiple wives because many people see this type of union as being oppressive to women. If they are going on religious beliefs well many people might not agree because they don't share what it is they believe - and if they did, again it would come across as oppressive to women.
Here are the documents for the Browns vs Utah. I love how they inserted that they cannot practice their religion in Vegas due to lack of AUB members. No one forced them to move but Kody.
Also, when I read that bigamy is punishable UP TO five years - it made me think on the odds. Even if punished, the most the Brown's would get would be five or less.
I guess I am not seeing the big threat.
Now we know why the AUB is so quick to boot out anyone that brings negative light to them - even if they knowingly allowed something until it was made public.
This whole fiasco probably has Kody's head reeling. Not only is he living his persecution complex, he is finally the center of his narcissistic fantasy - AUB golden boy.
It will be interesting if they do succeed with this case. I wonder how much the polygamy families will really like the end out come if polygamy does get decriminalized.
At best, if it is decriminalized there will have to be some thing that protects all parties being acknowledged in these spiritual marriages.
Paperwork akin to business laws is about all I can foresee. For some reason, I can't see many of the polygamy families liking this idea. So what would happen then? Pre nups where they force the women to sign off being allowed anything? I can see this turning into a big mess. Sooner or later, one spiritual wife will leave and and spill her guts on being forced or coerced and when they start losing some wheeling and dealing, bet they will wish it was still just a small bit offense only served by a min. of up to five years in the pen.
Maybe this is a clear case of biting off ones nose...
I say more power to them. WHAT is the difference between them and guys that sleep with a different woman every night? Oh, morals. I love Janelle. If you knew her, you would too. she's not that into the religion. She's into Kod and the family.
Please Correct me where I am wrong. These are my guesses. Kody, CHRISTINE, and crew have all been very strong in the AUB, (which they denied at one point), Principal Voices, Safety Net, etc. They know the Attorney General well. Christine and her henchwomen plot to make a TV show, in 2008 Christine is taunting "bring it on" that she wanted to be arrested. They finally get a TV show, with assurances from the cops that although they will say they are investigating, nothing will come of it. (Pre-Discussed) THEN, the Browns turn on the AJ, making him the villian, and the horrible run from the state.
Now, in my view, they do have some valid points. Why can't they just live together? Who gives a damn? How is that different than others who do the same? BUT, they way they played around it, is sneaky and smeary.
WHY on earth would they go on AH, from the clip MS showed us, and say they left b.c they wanted to? That makes no sense.

I agree. They simply could of said they wanted to be able to come back and forth to see relatives. The whole left out of fear can easily be proven as a lie. They've opened their mouths too much. Well, Robyn has. They tried to take on too much. Annony - the other one is right. It will be thrown out. But they are only beginning. I am learning so much about Mormons its scary. LOVE all the comments!
I've read the papers, and I have to say, it bothered me when Janelle griped about not getting Medicad - because she had to claim the others!!! WHAT is that saying? Isn't that fair? I love them, but they want it both ways. Nothing unfair about that.

ReplyDeleteThis "court case" is nothing more than a publicity stunt to promote Season 3. The court will not hear this case.
